Haven't picked up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/episodes-from-liberty-city"><em>Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City</em></a>? For about the same price as the retail console version of the <em>GTA IV</em> expansion packs, you can get every nearly single Rockstar game in one massive, discounted bundle. The "Rockstar Collection" includes 13 titles, including <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em>, <em>Manhunt</em>, <em>Max Payne</em>, <em>Midnight Club 2</em>, and every <em>Grand Theft Auto</em> for PC -- including <em>The Lost and the Damned</em> and <em>The Ballad of Gay Tony</em>.<br />
<br />
This week, the bundle will be discounted to a mere $42.49, a considerable savings over the suggested $169.90 value for all the games combined. Considering the bundle includes rather new content, one can even consider this package ... a <em>steal</em>.<br />

<br /> Gaming is a hobby, but sometimes it can feel like a job. As developers try to boost replayability, your gaming commitments can become anxiety-inducing. Just ask anyone who dared to attempt achieving 100% of <em>Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas</em>. At first, it's a fun and wonderful romp through a vivid world that's just oozing with life and character. By the end, you wish you'd never left <em>Vice City</em>. Did anyone here complete all of <em>Super Smash Bros Brawl</em>? I'm talking Classic Mode with every character, all of the Event matches, the target smashes, and every trophy and sticker available. At a certain point, some games can become an obligation rather than a means to entertainment. <br /><br /> Today being <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labor_day">Labor Day</a> in the US, let's take a break from completing every mission, collecting every star, and unlocking all bonus content. Sometime between your 11 AM rise from bed and your evening consumption of copious amounts of hot dogs at your family barbeque, take some time to truly enjoy gaming. Here's our Top 5 recommendations. <br /><br /> </div>

Looks like the kids of Bullworth Academy are ready to practice their delinquency on PC. <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=218898">Eurogamer</a> notes that a poster in the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/leipzig-08">Leipzig Games Convention</a> has the <em>Bully</em> logo with the words: "Demnachst fur PC."<br /><br />We're positive some umlauts belong in there, but the basic message is that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/bully"><em>Bully</em></a> is coming to PC "soon." Rockstar will probably make an official announcement sometime during the convention.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/20/gc-2008-bully-ready-to-give-pc-an-atomic-wedgie/">GC 2008: Bully ready to give PC an atomic wedgie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Aug 2008 19:00:00 EST. This <em>Bully</em>-themed costume has one problem: this hombre has a watch on, whereas Jimmy is watchless. <em>Epic fail, man -- better luck next time! </em>(We're kidding, of course!) If you guessed "Never," "Probably not anytime soon," "Not in this lifetime," or "Is that a rhetorical question?" then you're on the right track.<br /><br />The newest slew of censorship whinings stemmed from a commercial for the game, which some people found "offensive," "distasteful," and (insert negative adjective here). The ad featured typical <em>Bully</em> shenanigans: destruction of property, wedgies, and so forth. The Advertising Standards Authority received thirty-one complaints about the commercial in question, as a handful of folks were upset that children could easily see it on their tellies. <br /><br />Take Two blames sensationalist media coverage for the complaints, and as for the ASA? They don't seem too worried, as the organization declined to take any action regarding the ad. Even so, Take Two has no plans to run it again in the future.<br /><br />To see the "offensive" commercial for yourself, just click past the break.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/bully-is-still-riling-up-the-brits/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bully is still riling up the Brits</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/bully-is-still-riling-up-the-brits/">Bully is still riling up the Brits</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Jul 2008 23:00:00 EST. The UK's Advertising Standards Authority has <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/asa-dismisses-bully-advertising-complaints">dismissed complaints</a> that a television ad for <em>Bully Scholarship Edition </em>trivialized bullying. The agency said that although some might find the game's content and name in poor taste, the content of the ad was "unlikely to cause serious or widespread offense."<br /><br />It's funny that the ASA would take the stance that the <em>Bully</em> ads wouldn't cause "widespread offense" when it received a total of 31 complaints. Comparably, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/kane-and-lynch-ads-banned-in-uk/">banned ad for Kane &amp; Lynch</a> only received 26 complaints. The extra complaints isn't exactly surprising; remember that the original PS2 version of <em>Bully</em> actually <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/01/bully-no-more-call-it-canis-canem-edit/">changed its name to <em>Canis Canem Edit</em></a> when it was released in Europe.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/bully-ad-complaints-dismissed-by-asa/">Bully ad complaints dismissed by ASA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Jul 2008 15:28:00 EST. <br />If you're the type to never pay retail on <em>anything</em>, especially video games, the like-minded misers at the Cheap Ass Gamers community have found two worthwhile Wii deals for you:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bully">Bully: Scholarship Edition</a></em> - <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000WQ1UME/ref=nosim/cheapassgam08-20">$26.99 (Amazon)</a></li>
    <li><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/castle-of-shikigami">Castle of Shikigami III </a></em>- <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=70810">$19.99 (GameStop)</a></li>
</ul>
If you haven't looked into shoot-em-up <em>Castle of Shikigami III</em> before, make sure you check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/06/a-large-formation-of-castle-shikigami-iii-videos-approaches/">the videos we posted</a> a couple of months ago -- there's a flying butler! Amazon also has <em>CSI: Hard Evidence</em> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000Q4SRFU/ref=nosim/cheapassgam08-20">on sale for $19.99,</a> but we have a feeling that not many of you will be too excited to pick up this video game adaptation of a poor man's <em>Law &amp; Order</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/">CAG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/06/bargains-on-bully-and-bullet-hell/">Bargains on Bully and bullet hell</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Jul 2008 14:00:00 EST. Most noticeably, it seems like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/05/wii-version-of-bully-might-be-the-better-port/"><em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em></a> has had a universal price drop, and now only costs $30. Circuit City is the only store to advertise this, but from checking around at other retailers, the slashed price seems like the rule and not the exception. While $50 for the port might have been too expensive for your tastes, $30 sounds a bit easier to swallow.<br /><br />All the other deals worth mentioning will probably only motivate folks who were already on the fence. Best Buy, for example, is offering a $10 gift card to those who purchase <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/12/dont-watch-this-trailer-when-youre-alone-in-the-dark/"><em>Alone in the Dark</em></a>. As for Circuit City, the retailer has a handful of $20 games marked down to $15 (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/balloon-pop-bursts-into-view/"><em>Balloon Pop</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/furu-furu-parks-minigames-vs-regular-size-games/"><em>Furu Furu Park</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/01/rival-swords-tutorial-level-played-filmed/"><em>Prince of Persia: Rival Swords</em></a>, namely).<br /><br />Topping it all off is Amazon's "Deal of the Day," which ends at 3am EST. Here you can find ezGear's Wii Rechargable Battery and Charger, which you can use to charge up your Wiimotes. We're not sure how reliable ezGear is when it comes to third-party accessories, but for $10, this dock might be worth a try.<br /><br />Hopefully your wallets will come out unscathed from this gauntlet of deals, but if not, feel free to rant at us for our evil, tempting ways.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://cheapassgamer.com">CAG</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&amp;id=pcmcat154200050036">Source:</a> $10 gift card with purchase of <em>Alone in the Dark</em> at Best Buy<br /><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Rechargable-Battery-and-Charger/dp/B000U92MFC/ref=br_lf_m_1000208101_1_1_ttl?ie=UTF8&amp;m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;s=videogames&amp;pf_rd_p=409321301&amp;pf_rd_s=center-2&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_i=1000208101&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=0B0FVGJFKFYQRYJXTMM9">Source:</a> Amazon's "Deal of the Day" -- ezGear's Wii Rechargable Battery and Charger<br /><a href="http://circuitcity.com">Source:</a> Circuit City (for sales on <em>Balloon Pop</em>,<em> Furu Furu Park,</em> and <em>Rival Swords</em>)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/22/the-wii-owners-sunday-shopping-guide/">The Wii owners' Sunday shopping guide</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Jun 2008 15:00:00 EST. Brazil seems to be having a lot of censorship issues lately, but in terms of video games, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bully/">Bully</a> </em>is the most recent victim.<br /><br />According to an Associated Press article, Judge Flavio Rabello recently ordered that Rockstar's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/bully-stirs-up-controversy-in-britain-again/">controversial game</a> be banned from the country. This means that Brazilian stores (both brick and mortar and online) cannot sell the software, nor can the title be imported, distributed, or promoted.<br /><br />So, why <em>Bully</em> over other violent games? State prosecutor Alcindo Bastos commented, "The aggravating factor is that everything in the game takes place inside a school. That is not acceptable." Yet, <em>Bully</em> isn't first game to be prohibited in the Latin American country; earlier this year, <em>Counter-Strike</em> and <em>Everquest</em> were banned as well.<br /><br />It's a shame when governments don't take the time to understand something before following a knee-jerk reaction. Perhaps bullying is a touchy subject, since the issue involves children committing violence against other children, but pretending it doesn't exist by banning media that portrays it won't solve any problems.<br /><br />

This time around it's <em>Bully</em>: <em>Scholarship Edition</em> that's been banned by a Brazilian judge, as the <a href="http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/apwire/778d1358abc67ae0e3963464a52038cd.htm">AP</a> is reporting.<br /><br />According to the report, the ban prevents the game from "being imported, distributed, sold or promoted on Web sites and stores" in the country. Brazilian distributors and retailers will have thirty days to comply with the ban, which came in response to a request from a Brazilian youth center. "The aggravating factor is that everything in the game takes place inside a school" said prosecutor Alcindo Bastas. "That is not acceptable."<br /><br />A Take-Two spokesman said the decision "will not have a material impact on the sales of this popular title." We're relatively sure this is not the last we'll hear from the publisher about this matter.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/brazil-bans-bully/">Brazil bans Bully</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Apr 2008 18:25:00 EST. There's a brand new face for us to lovingly stick into our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/family-album-take-two-interactive/">Take-Two Family Album</a> -- Rockstar New England. Take-Two's Rockstar Games has <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/ReleaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=303322">announced</a> the formation of the studio following the acquisition of Andover, MA-based Mad Doc Software, "one of the premier independent development studios in North America." The praise release continues with Rockstar founder, Sam Houser, weighing in on the purchase.<br /><br />"The team at Mad Doc Software is extremely talented," he said. "Bringing them within the Rockstar Games family will enhance our core technology and further support our commitment to creating progressive and innovative gaming experiences."<br /><br />C'mon everybody, let's join in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_Earth_III#Reception">singing</a> the praises of the studio that most recently worked on the Xbox 360 version of <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em>! <br /><br />What's that? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/rockstar-working-around-the-clock-to-quell-360s-bully-issues/">We can't hear you!</a> We seem to be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/bully-patch-now-on-live-but-does-it-fix-anything/">experiencing</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/bullys-xbox-360-patch-may-need-another-patch/">audio difficulties</a>! <em>Hello?!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/04/rockstar-acquires-mad-doc-software-forms-rockstar-new-england/">Rockstar acquires Mad Doc Software, forms Rockstar New England</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Apr 2008 17:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=127677">EuroGamer</a> reports that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/bully-patch-now-on-live-but-does-it-fix-anything/">a patch</a> released five days ago, which intended to fix the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/rockstar-working-around-the-clock-to-quell-360s-bully-issues/">issues in the Xbox 360 version</a> of <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em>, may have caused more problems than it resolved. Reported problems include freezes, along with audio and graphic glitches. Rockstar explained that the issue is with older consoles, but EuroGamer states its (relatively new?) office Elite locks up.<br /><br />We're still waiting to hear from Rockstar about what's really going on, but the company seems to have locked itself in the teacher's lounge and refuses to come out. So, what's the word on the virtual streets? Are people still having problems with their copy of <em>Bully</em> on the Xbox 360?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/bullys-xbox-360-patch-may-need-another-patch/">Bully's Xbox 360 patch may need another patch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Mar 2008 05:00:00 EST. Remember how the Xbox 360 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bully"><em>Bully</em></a> had all those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/bully-a-past-of-controversy-and-future-of-issues/">problems</a>? Remember how Rockstar soon delivered a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/rockstar-patches-a-problematic-bully/">patch</a> to iron out all the bugs? Well, it looks like the patch didn't quite work as advertised. In fact, if <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=127677">reports</a> on the intertubes are to be believed, the patch actually made the game <em>worse</em> for some players. Specifically, there are reports of audio stuttering, which is something we've heard from our own readers, as well as graphical glitches and freezing issues. The question now is whether or not Rockstar plans to patch the patch.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/bully-patch-making-things-worse/#poll11759">View Poll</a></p><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/bully-patch-making-things-worse/">Bully patch making things worse?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Mar 2008 17:45:00 EST. As both are pretty excellent games, it goes without saying that neither was ever going to threaten the likes of smug old <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario &amp; Sonic</span>.<br /><br />But hey, sneering sarcasm aside, <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span> actually did a <span style="font-style: italic;">little</span> better than we expected, reaching a respectable 14th in the <a href="http://www.charttrack.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110032">UK</a>, and 13th in <a href="http://www.dataspelsbranschen.se/listing.aspx?y=2008&amp;w=11">Sweden</a>. Okay, so <span style="font-style: italic;">Game Party</span> (9th) and <span style="font-style: italic;">Carnival: Funfair Games</span> (6th) both horrifically topped Suda's brilliant adventure in the UK, and it failed altogether to leave a dent on the top 20 in Denmark, Ireland, Germany, or Holland, but we're still pleased it came <span style="font-style: italic;">close</span> to a top ten position <span style="font-style: italic;">somewhere.</span><br /><br />Perhaps surprisingly, <span style="font-style: italic;">Bully: Scholarship Edition</span> didn't fare as well, at least on the Wii. While the Xbox 360 version is performing decently in the UK (5th), Holland (10th), and Sweden (19th), the Wii edition is nowhere to be seen, save for a lowly UK ranking of 26th.<br /><br />Oh, and in case you were wondering, we're sorry to announce that we're down a chart this week, as our usual sources for Spanish data are busy enjoying their four-day Easter weekend. The cheek! They'll be chained back to their desks next week. Go past the break for more charts than there are tulips in Holland. The patch, which should be applied the next time a player loads the game while connected to Xbox Live, is supposed to correct the numerous <em>Bully </em>glitches and technical issues that gamers have been experiencing since the game's launch. Hopefully the patch does just that, resulting in a <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bully">Bully</a> </em>that acts more civil and less problematic. That said, if the patch doesn't fix everything, we know gamers will be vocal and verbally let Rockstar have it.<br /><br />[Thanks, TMlad]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/rockstar-patches-a-problematic-bully/">Rockstar patches a problematic Bully</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Mar 2008 08:45:00 EST. A patch for <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em> <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/03/20/bully-xbox-360-patch-finally-released/">has been released</a> on Xbox Live in lieu of the "broad worldwide announcement" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/19/news-on-bully-xbox-360-patch-coming-tomorrow/">expected today</a>. But what does it fix? We don't know for sure, and various readers have reported the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/rockstar-working-around-the-clock-to-quell-360s-bully-issues/">technical problems</a> are either not fixed at all or in some cases worse. We've contacted Rockstar for more information. If you've downloaded the patch yourself, feel free to give your impressions below.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://gamexp.wordpress.com/2008/03/19/some-major-beefs-with-bully-scholarship-edition/">Mark</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/bully-patch-now-on-live-but-does-it-fix-anything/">Bully patch now on Live, but does it fix anything?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Mar 2008 18:27:00 EST. <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/03/19/bully-xbox-360-patch-still-missing-coming-news-tomorrow/">MTV Multiplayer</a> has managed to get a statement from Rockstar concerning <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition's</em> missing-in-action patch. While not much, a spokesperson told them that the patch is sitting in the Xbox Live certification queue and that they will have a "broad worldwide announcement" tomorrow. While that announcement could come alongside the patch itself, we're not holding our breath.<br /><br />It's promising to know the patch is awaiting Xbox Live certification, but that process can take some time to get through. After <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/rockstar-working-around-the-clock-to-quell-360s-bully-issues/">apologizing</a> for the technical issues reported by some Xbox 360 gamers, Rockstar asserted they would get a patch out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/patch-for-buggy-bully-on-360-coming-next-week/">"within a week."</a> As of this writing, it has been 12 days (i.e. well over a week) since that statement.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/19/news-on-bully-xbox-360-patch-coming-tomorrow/">News on Bully Xbox 360 patch coming tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 17:30:00 EST. Rockstar's been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/rockstar-working-around-the-clock-to-quell-360s-bully-issues/">awfully apologetic</a> about the game-breaking bugs and glitches present in the Xbox 360 version of <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em> (as they should be). In the latest public apology, a Rockstar Games representative is promising a fix within the next week, in the form of a <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6187355.html">title update via Xbox Live</a>.<br /><br />The patch will likely fix the audio glitches, framerate stutters, and full-on crashes that have plagued the 360 version, yet have been entirely absent from the Wii version. It is unknown at this time whether <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rockstar">Rockstar</a> also intends to offer a disc replacement plan for 360 owners without access to Live (similar to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/22/guitar-hero-iii-wii-replacement-discs-shipping-next-month/">Activision's replacement plan</a> for <em>Guitar Hero III</em> on the Wii). We'll let you know when the buggy <em>Bully</em> patch is finally made available.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/patch-for-buggy-bully-on-360-coming-next-week/">Patch for buggy Bully on 360 coming next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Mar 2008 17:30:00 EST. Heck, we don't even have to remind Rockstar, because they already know and acknowledge the problems. But we do have to tell you that the Rockstar devs are <a href="http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/03/rockstar-bully.html">hard at word on a patch</a> which will be deployed as a title update over Xbox Live sometime next week. They also wanted to "apologize wholeheartedly for the inconvenience that this matter has caused some owners of the game". A wholehearted apology and a <em>Bully</em> fix within seven days. Now that's the caring Rockstar we've come to know and love.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/rockstar-promises-bully-fix-by-next-week/">Rockstar promises Bully fix by next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Mar 2008 17:00:00 EST. While the recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/24/ea-calls-for-fox-news-to-correct-mass-effect-story/">misinterpretation</a> of the sexual content within <em>Mass Effect</em> has been an industry hot topic in this generation of consoles, the assumptions made about the content in <em>Bully</em> prior to its release were laughably off-kilter.
<p> </p>
<p>At one point in the controversy industry antagonist, Jack Thompson, argued on G4's <a href="http://www.g4tv.com/attackoftheshow/blog/post/629272/Jack_Thompson_vs_Adam_Sessler.html"><em>The Loop</em></a> that <em>Bully</em> was a "Columbine Simulator," oblivious to the fact that the ultimate goal of the game is end bullying at <em>Bullworth Academy</em> -- the featured location in the game. While the sandbox nature of the game allows players to be just as much as an advocate against bullies as it allows them to be the ultimate poster child, the internal rules of the game harshly punishes picking on female characters or smaller children.</p>
<p>With the recent release of <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em>, gamers are treated to a HD upgrade of the controversial title -- or so they thought. Reports are swirling that multiple glitches and game freezing bugs are hindering the enjoyment of the hd-revamp. <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249455">NeoGAF</a> members have compiled a list of various sources to support the widespread issue.</p>
<p>In response, a horrified Rockstar pinned the issues on older Xbox 360 models and assures fans the issue was never caught during quality assurance tests and not the product of a quick release cash grab. The full statement from Rockstar's Sam Houser can be found after the jump.</p>

Having forked over their precious lunch money to recent current-gen graduate, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/point-your-pupils-at-bully-scholarship-edition-trailer/"><em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em></a>, some Xbox 360 owners have expressed dissatisfaction with the game's technical performance. Though it's unclear whether the issues are widespread, several forum users have noted unsteady framerates, audio glitches and freezing within Rockstar's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bully">school daze</a> sim.<br /><br />The company has <a href="http://kotaku.com/364455/rockstar-horrified-by-xbox-360-bully-scholarship-edition-issues">issued a statement</a> in response to online complaints, vowing to work "around the clock to rectify this situation." A "horrifed" Rockstar president, Sam Houser, pinned the blame on "some older 360s," explaining that none of the technical issues occurred during the game's QA phase. "We would never shove anything out the door - we never have and never will," said Houser. "We apologise to everyone affected for the inconvenience."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/rockstar-working-around-the-clock-to-quell-360s-bully-issues/">Rockstar working 'around the clock' to quell 360's Bully issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Mar 2008 07:20:00 EST. According to many owners of the game, the 360 version constantly freezes and suffers from poor framerates. There have also been some complaints about glitches and audio drops, which have led many to conclude that it's a shoddily made port.<br /><br />Fortunately, it seems like these issue aren't present in the Wii game, but we figured we'd check with our readers to be sure. Have any of you picked up a copy of <em>Bully</em> yet? If so, have you encountered any problems, or is the game running smoothly for you?<br /><br /><br />

Color us not at all surprised. With this week's release of <em>Bully: Scholarship Editon</em>, we're seeing a return of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/28/warm-tea-the-bully-boy-on-boy-kiss-goes-mainstream/">the controversy</a> that swirled around the game upon its original PS2 release in 2006. Emily Noble, president of the Canadian Teachers' Federation, called for the game <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080304.wbully04/BNStory/National/home">to be removed</a> from shelves this week, saying "We're asking retailers to be responsible. Yes, they can sell it and make a buck out of this, but is this the kind of marketing that they want to be [doing], selling games that glorify violence?"<br /><br />McGill University's Michael Hoechsmann provided a more rational take, calling attempts to ban the game "flailing at windmills" and saying "As tempting as it may seem, I'm not so certain that banning this will somehow result in a more peaceful and more loving school population."<br /><br />Though we're sad to see this silly controversy rear its head again, we do want to give big ups to Hoechsmann and reporter Jill Mahoney for providing a dissenting opinion.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gamepolitics.com/2008/03/04/bully-controversy-resurrected-with-release-of-scholarship-edition/">GamePolitics</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/return-of-bully-means-more-controversy/">Return of Bully means more controversy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Mar 2008 09:50:00 EST. We're not quite sure which one tops the list honestly. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/army-of-two"><em>Army of Two</em></a> is probably the most talked about recently. Given its rocky development cycle and the fact that there aren't any major reviews up yet, we're remaining cautious. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bully"><em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em></a> also releases this week, marking the first time that Microsoft console owners will get a chance to try it out (now with achievements!). And then there's <em>Major League Baseball 2K8</em>, about which we haven't the foggiest. Anyone out there longing to pick up one of these this week?<span style="font-weight: bold;"></span><br />

This week's releases have something for just about everyone. You can be a hero on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/28/some-more-baseball-for-the-wii-with-mlb-2k8/">the baseball diamond</a>, in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/31/checking-out-bully-scholarship-edition/">the classroom</a> or ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/what-does-a-four-player-game-need-five-players-of-course/"><em>wherever it is that ninja train</em></a>. A bamboo thicket? Well, whatever, the joke had no chance, anyway.<br /><br />The point is that there are some decent games available this week. That is, unless you hate America's pastime and aren't a fan of Rockstar or things that train you to be a more effective killer. If that's the case, then try to find ways to pass the time before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/smash-bros-brawl">a certain something</a> releases. <br />

If you skipped 2006's PlayStation 2 debut of <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bully/">Bully</a>, you missed out on a lot more than a nostalgic video game trip through your long-forgotten school daze. All the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/20/the-political-game-the-bully-bash/">drama</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/11/miami-judge-orders-take-two-to-bring-bully-to-him/">legal flailing</a> surrounding the release would have you believe that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/18/bully-giving-atomic-wedgies-on-wii-and-xbox-360-first-week-of-ma/"><em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em></a> is the <em>definitive</em> version of Rockstar's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/28/warm-tea-the-bully-boy-on-boy-kiss-goes-mainstream/">homo-erotic</a>, teacher killing sim.<br /><br />It's nothing like that, actually. The true nature of the game, which involves disease-ridden lunch ladies and epic wedgies, can be gleaned from the trailer embedded after the break. Let us know if it's convinced you to enroll in class on March 4th (March 7th in the UK).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/point-your-pupils-at-bully-scholarship-edition-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Point your pupils at Bully: Scholarship Edition trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/point-your-pupils-at-bully-scholarship-edition-trailer/">Point your pupils at Bully: Scholarship Edition trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Jan 2008 19:30:00 EST. The latest gripe comes fresh after the <em>Manhunt 2</em> controversy, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/and-the-manhunt-2-saga-continues/">which has yet to be resolved</a> completely.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">The Telegraph</span> disapproves of the game because it "features a shaven-headed pupil who torments fellow students and teachers at his school." Like many video game critiques, this opinion is mostly inaccurate and also alarmist. An organization known as BeatBullying is also unhappy with the new <span style="font-style: italic;">Bully</span>, claiming that Rockstar tried to bribe them for their support with a donation. Certain retailers like PC World and Currys refuse to even carry the game.<br /><br />Rockstar is known for pushing the envelope with edgy games, but we have to imagine that they're tired of all these headaches by now. We know we certainly are.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/bully-stirs-up-controversy-in-britain-again/">Bully stirs up controversy in Britain ... again</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jan 2008 19:00:00 EST. Did we mention they aren't happy?<br /><br />When released on the PS2, the UK version of <em>Bully</em> underwent a name change to <em>Canis Canem Edit</em> (that's "Dog Eat Dog" in latin) which was probably an effort by Rockstar to keep the controversy to a minimum. But this time around, the 360 and Wii version will forgo a latin name change and be called <em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em> and that doesn't seem to sit well with anti-bully activists. And even though <em>Bully</em> is a rather tame game whose story doesn't specifically reward bullying, it's made by Rockstar and deals with touchy subject matter, so this kind of controversy is expected. It's controversy Rockstar is all too familiar with.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamestooge.com/2008/01/21/bully-controversial-in-uk-again/">Game Stooge</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/again-bully-becomes-the-center-of-controversy/">Again, Bully becomes the center of controversy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jan 2008 14:45:00 EST. Like trying to resuscitate a year-old corpse, the UK's <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/01/20/nyouth320.xml"><em>Telegraph</em></a> attempted to reinvigorate controversy about <em>Bully</em> now that it's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/18/bully-giving-atomic-wedgies-on-wii-and-xbox-360-first-week-of-ma/">coming to Wii and Xbox 360 in March</a>. The <em>Telegraph</em> gets mileage out of the non-troversy by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/manhunt2">pulling a <em>Manhunt 2</em></a> and explaining that acting out movements with the Wiimote is what makes this game relevant again as an issue. What also seems to stick in some people's craw is that the ridiculous renaming of <em>Bully</em> to <em>Canis Canem Edit</em> (Dog eat Dog) in the UK is out and the original name is back in. <br /><br />Now that the game has been out for a while, is it too much to ask that critics play the game before commenting on it -- scratch that, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/17/mass-effect-virtual-orgasmic-rape-columnist-apologizes/">of course it is</a>. Anybody who has played <em>Bully</em> knows that it is a smart satire of boarding school and protagonist Jimmy Hopkins is clearly more of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/28/warm-tea-the-bully-boy-on-boy-kiss-goes-mainstream/">lover than a fighter</a>. We're just hoping that the Wii and Xbox 360 versions of <em>Bully</em> are precursors to a sequel announcement.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gamepolitics.com/2008/01/20/new-bully-versions-same-old-controversy/">GamePolitics</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/bully-causes-brit-troversy-a-year-late-and-a-pound-short/">Bully causes Brit-troversy a year late and a pound short</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jan 2008 09:30:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bully">rumors</a> of <em>Bully</em>'s Wii and Xbox 360 semester starting in March were pretty much on the money, with Rockstar confirming North America starts class on March 4 and the UK getting a delayed opening 'til March 7. As is <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50828">evidenced</a> by the Xbox 360 screenshot above, Rockstar isn't making the awkward teenagers of Bullworth Academy any prettier for their now-gen premiere. The game is pretty much a port of the PS2 version with some improvements -- hopefully the loading times will be one of them.<br /><br /><em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em> features eight new missions, four new classes and some other minor upgrades like achievements for the Xbox 360 and waggle-added gameplay for Wii. The tuition for this trip to Bullworth will be $50 on both systems. We'd say just pick <em>Bully</em> on the cheap for your PS2, but achievements or waggle will probably make another spin with Jimmy Hopkins on a new system worth it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/18/bully-giving-atomic-wedgies-on-wii-and-xbox-360-first-week-of-ma/">Bully giving atomic wedgies on Wii and Xbox 360 the first week of March</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Jan 2008 22:45:00 EST. What can we say? We like you too much to <em>force</em> you to check out these Wii-specific images from the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/03/rumor-bully-giving-out-swirlies-from-march-3rd/"><em>Bully: Scholarship Edition</em></a>, but we thought you might just enjoy them. If we had cookies, we'd give you one, but you'll just have to settle for the screenshots. Port or not, it's still somewhat <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/25/anniversary-aftermath-next-years-awesome-games-that-you-forgot/">exciting</a> to see Rockstar taking a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rockstar">continued interest</a> in the Wii. New content like eight new missions, four new classes (biology, music, math and geography), two offline multiplayer mini-games, additional unlockable items and awards. So, if you've had PS2 <em>Bully</em> envy for a while now, then it's looking like your wait was well worth it as the 360 version will be far superior. And the game's $49 retail price tag shouldn't hurt either.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/07/prepare-to-be-bullyied-this-march/">Prepare to be Bully'ied this March</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Jan 2008 16:00:00 EST. The inevitable result of this is the dreaded post-Christmas lull, whereby the first quarter of the following year is severely lacking in noteworthy titles.<br /><br />Despite this trend, Q1 2008 content on the Wii looks good. We spent yesterday going through the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/24/anniversary-aftermath-what-are-we-looking-forward-to/">big releases that've been announced for next year</a> so far -- <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-smash-bros-brawl/">Smash Bros. Brawl</a> and/or <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/friday-video-wii-fit-in-demos/">Wii Fit</a> likely topping your personal "must get" list -- but what about the second-tier games that don't usually receive much press or attention? <br />
<br />
Though <span style="font-style: italic;">we</span> haven't forgotten about the low-key releases, we've collected a selection of games and media to ensure that these titles stay on <span style="font-style: italic;">your</span> mind too! Read on for our top ten list of awesome 2008 games that you totally forgot about!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/25/anniversary-aftermath-next-years-awesome-games-that-you-forgot/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Anniversary aftermath: Next year's awesome games that you forgot about</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/25/anniversary-aftermath-next-years-awesome-games-that-you-forgot/">Anniversary aftermath: Next year's awesome games that you forgot about</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 25 Nov 2007 12:00:00 EST. You may already know that Rockstar's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/20/rockstar-hearts-wii-special-edition-bully-headed-our-way/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Bully</span> is going to be ported to the Wii</a> (and Xbox 360), but aside from it being a "port-plus," the game is now also boasting an award winning script. It seems that <span style="font-style: italic;">Bully</span> (the original, that is) managed to win the "Best Videogame Script" title at the Writer's Guild of Great Britain Awards 2007.<br /><br />We're not going to argue over the prestige of such an award, but keep in mind that since it's for the Writer's Guild of <span style="font-style: italic;">Great Britain</span>, only writers from the UK can be nominated. <span style="font-style: italic;">Bully </span>faced off against another Rockstar game, <span style="font-style: italic;">Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories</span>, as well as Charles Cecil's <span style="font-style: italic;">Broken Sword: Angel of Death</span>.<br /><br />For those of you who have already played <span style="font-style: italic;">Bully</span>, you probably know whether or not you're interested in this Wii port. Yet, for those of you who haven't, this may (or may not) be a reason to put <span style="font-style: italic;">Bully: Scholarship Edition</span> on your radar.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=29844">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/19/bully-wins-best-script-award/">Bully wins best script award</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Nov 2007 20:00:00 EST. <div align="left">What's more fun than playing Wii games? Speculating about how to play future Wii games, of course. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/20/rockstar-hearts-wii-special-edition-bully-headed-our-way/"><em>Bully</em></a> is an excellent candidate for such pie-in-the-sky dreaming, because, as a sandbox game, it is crammed full of varied tasks, many of which are just crying out for motion controls.</div>
<div align="left"><br />GamesRadar has come up with a list of five possibilities for <em>Bullying </em>gestures, with accompanying pictures. Some, like holding the Wiimote sideways to simulate driving a go-kart, don't seem <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/e307-mario-kart-wii-spins-its-wheels-through-our-hearts/">terribly imaginative</a>, but this article marks the first time we've been asked to think about the potential for virtual swirlies. </div>
