The Old West is once again the backdrop for the developer's latest first-person shooter, <em>Call of Juarez Gunslinger</em>, which should hit Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC in early 2013.<br /><br /><em>Juarez</em> the last game veered off course and into a contemporary urban setting, <em>Gunslinger</em> makes a returning run past backwater saloons, crusty spittoons and the "untold stories" of a few notorious gunmen. Your own accomplishments, as described by an unreliable narrator throughout the game, intersect with "Wanted" poster boys Billy the Kid, Jesse James and Pat Garrett, amongst others.<br /><br />An early build of <em>Call of Juarez Gunslinger</em> gave us a good grasp of Techland's approach, which seems cognizant of what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/review-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-single-player/"><em>Bound in Blood</em></a> (widely considered the best game in the series) got right. Shooting is stylish, frantic, and constantly rewarded by spurts of blood and points. These numerical rewards are funneled into a set of skill upgrades, which improve your gun-twirling prowess in diverse ways. Acquire the right abilities and you'll extend your bullet-time bravado, decrease your reloading times and make perfect headshots mid-air.<br /><br />Such incredible maneuvers must be hell on your back, though. You can't bend down and pick up a fallen enemy's gun until you purchase that skill.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-xbla-pc/">Call of Juarez Gunslinger (XBLA, PSN, PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-xbla-pc/#5263079"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/1209069amcojgs001dd2012_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-xbla-pc/#5263080"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/1209069amcojgs002dd2012_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-xbla-pc/#5263081"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/1209069amcojgs003dd2012_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/06/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-heading-back-west-on-xbla-psn-and-pc/">Call of Juarez Gunslinger heading back West on XBLA, PSN, and PC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Sep 2012 03:01:00 EST. Ubisoft recently sent out an email asking players of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-juarez-the-cartel">Call of Juarez: The Cartel</a> </em>to rate specific parts of the game, and regardless of whether the responses all sum up to "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/call-of-juarez-the-cartel-review/#review">This game is suxorz</a>," it suggests that a sequel is already in the works. The survey asks players which console they own, which Call of Juarez title is their favorite, how they would rate <em>The Cartel</em>'s graphics, cut-scenes and "being part of a team but having my own interests come first," among other questions.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft then asks which which of the following (eerily specific) aspects players would want to see in a new Call of Juarez title:
<ul>
	<li>
		Hunting an outlaw in the rocky mountains</li>
	<li>
		Defending a ranch attacked by Mexican pistolleros</li>
	<li>
		Preventing a bank robbery</li>
	<li>
		Rescuing an innocent man about to be hanged up</li>
	<li>
		Taking part in a shooting contest</li>
	<li>
		A gun duel in the empty main street of a town against your worst enemy</li>
	<li>
		Guarding a fort against a group of outlaws</li>
	<li>
		Helping a man to escape from the sheriff's office</li>
	<li>
		Defending a train attacked by Native Americans on horses</li>
	<li>
		A gunfight in a saloon after a poker game</li>
	<li>
		Preventing outlaws from pillaging a gold mine</li>
	<li>
		A fusillade between lawmen and outlaws</li>
</ul>
Grab your guns and saddle up -- this could be a very bumpy ride.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/26/new-call-of-juarez-game-suggested-in-ubisoft-email-survey/">New Call of Juarez game suggested in Ubisoft email survey</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 26 Nov 2011 21:30:00 EST. Valve has announced that if you pre-order the upcoming <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/call-of-juarez-the-cartel"><em>Call of Juarez: The Cartel</em></a> on Steam, you'll get a copy of 2009's <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a> for free. Just like a few other previous Steam pre-order deals (<em>Portal 2</em>'s granted a copy of the first game ), you'll be able to <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/5545/">give the game away to someone else</a> if you already happen to have a copy of <em>Bound in Blood</em> of your own.<br />
<br />
That's not all: a Steam pre-order will also get you two exclusive in-game weapons, though it's not yet been revealed exactly what those are. Hey -- maybe a chicken cannon. Because, y'know, it's ... <em>a</em> <em>chicken cannon</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/pre-order-call-of-juarez-the-cartel-on-steam-get-bound-in-bloo/">Pre-order Call of Juarez: The Cartel on Steam, get Bound in Blood free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 May 2011 01:00:00 EST. While the last two games in the series were Old West-themed, developer Techland is actually setting this game in present-day LA and Juarez -- the new setting means that Juarez will just be able to leave you voice mail if you aren't around. "The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot," said Ubi director of marketing Adam Novickas in the announcement.<br />
<br />
You'll be able to find out more about <em>The Cartel</em> in the March issue of EGM, and you'll be able to <em>play</em> it this summer. We have great news for Phillip Arnasus of Sterling, Virginia. <a href="http://twitter.com/Ubisoft/status/5203613608">Ubisoft's Twitter feed</a> says that a patch, arriving tomorrow on Xbox 360 and PS3, will focus on bringing balance to the different classes in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a>'s multiplayer mode. As the one person who frequently plays the <em>Bound in Blood </em>multiplayer, Arnasus says he's "really looking forward to it" and hopes the fixes will help the mode to "finally catch on," which even his closest friends agree is a long shot.<br /> <br /> We give publishers so much heat for the important things they don't do, that we feel obligated to note when they go the extra mile <em>for nobody</em>. No offense, Phil, it's just a figure of speech.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/big-news-phil-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-gets-multiplayer/">Big news, Phil! For those who've had trouble hearing the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><em>Call of Juarez</em></a> over the much louder <em>Call of Saving Money</em>, we've got some good news: GameStop has lowered the price of the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of <em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em> to a paltry $30. For those keeping score, that's $20 off the PC version and a full $30 shot off the PS3 and 360 versions. Not bad for a game hailed by critics as a "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/review-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-single-player/">gritty, completely entertaining experience</a>."<br /> <br /> [Thanks, CJ]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/05/hear-the-call-of-juarez-on-the-cheap-at-gamestop/">Hear the Call of Juarez on the cheap at GameStop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Oct 2009 19:30:00 EST. Over the next five weeks, Direct2Drive is offering a special discount on a host of different titles in celebration of its <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/d2dturns5">five-year anniversary</a>. Every Monday, Direct2Drive will feature a new set of titles, reducing them to $5 (or &pound;5 UK), with the first week of the promotion focusing on "Ubisoft and Strategy titles." While the upcoming week's titles have yet to be revealed, Direct2Drive has teased us with utterly vague descriptions of what to expect:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Week Two: Action Games</li>
    <li>Week Three: RPGs &amp; MMOs</li>
    <li>Week Four: Indie Games</li>
    <li>Week Five: War Games</li>
</ul>
The first week of the promotion ends on September 14. Games differ slightly based on your geographical region -- for instance, Ubisoft is strangely omitted from the <a href="http://www.direct2drive.co.uk/d2dturns5">European promotion</a>. Check out a full list of this week's games for both regions after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/direct2drive-celebrates-5-year-anniversary-with-50-games-for-5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Direct2Drive celebrates 5-year anniversary with 50 games for $5 each</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/direct2drive-celebrates-5-year-anniversary-with-50-games-for-5/">Direct2Drive celebrates 5-year anniversary with 50 games for $5 each</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 14:00:00 EST. Howdy, pardner. If you've got a hankerin' for some Wild West, first-person shootin' action, you'd best mosey on over to the nearest internet saloon and download the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a> demo for Xbox Live and PSN. Y'all should know the demo ain't available on the US PSN just yet, but don't get yer panties in a twist, because it's already up on that fancy <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/european-psn-update-for-august-13/">European PSN</a>, so it oughta head west after the update later today.<br /><br />As for what's in the demo, there ain't much info to go on. Alls we know is that there's bound to be some shootin', fightin' and Wild West stereotypin'. From what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/review-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-single-player/">we've heard</a>, it should be a helluva time.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/xblm-psn-hear-the-call-of-juarez-demo/">XBLM, PSN hear the Call of Juarez (demo)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Aug 2009 13:45:00 EST. Looking to extend Thomas and Ray's adventure in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood/"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a>? Tough luck, because the "Old West Map Pack" DLC from Ubisoft is for those banditos who enjoy gunning down their fellow man. The DLC adds four new multiplayer maps, each with some historical significance. If you ever wanted to see where General Custer made his last stand at Little Big Horn in the comfort of your own living room, perhaps covered in a light dusting of Cheetos, then you'll want to keep an eye out later this week. The new maps will set you back 800<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($9.99).<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-old-west-map-pack-dlc/">Call of Juarez Old West Map Pack DLC</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-old-west-map-pack-dlc/#2183775"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/cojdlc080309image5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-old-west-map-pack-dlc/#2183774"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/cojdlc080309image4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-old-west-map-pack-dlc/#2183773"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/cojdlc080309image10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-old-west-map-pack-dlc/#2183772"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/cojdlc080309image9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-old-west-map-pack-dlc/#2183771"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/cojdlc080309image3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/call-of-juarez-dlc-saddles-up-on-august-6/">Call of Juarez DLC saddles up on August 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 21:30:00 EST. In 19 days, it'll be two years since we last heard anything about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez"><em>Call of Juarez</em></a> developer Techland's "open ended FPS," <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/warhound/"><em>Warhound</em></a>. So, when we heard last week that the developer was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/02/techlands-dead-island-still-shambling-about/">still working on its zombie-infused <em>Dead Island</em></a>, we shot Techland an email and asked about the game once intended to rival <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis"><em>Crysis</em></a>' graphics. <br />
<br />
Blazej Krakowiak, the company's international brand manager, told us, "We reached a certain development stage and had to postpone it because of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a>." He continued, "A release of an ambitious and well-received title is always a good moment to unwind a little bit and reevaluate all the options," speaking to the recent release of <em>Bound in Blood</em>. "It wouldn't be a good idea for us to discuss them right now." Though Krakowiak doesn't exactly confirm our suspicions on the fate of <em>Warhound</em>, his caginess on the game's fate speaks volumes.<br />

After finishing and loving <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a>, I was so smitten that I went back and dug out the original, which I had never played. After a couple of hours, I switched it off, fueled by a gross combination of frustration and boredom. It's then that it occurred to me that <em>BiB, </em>while not perfect, is a great example of how best to make a sequel to a flawed product.<br />
<br />
1.<span style="font-weight: bold;"> Ditch what doesn't work</span>: In <em>Bound in Blood</em> -- a prequel to the original cowboy FPS -- what's most notable is perhaps what <em>hasn't</em> made the journey from the original game. There's no more crummy fisticuffs, no more holstering your irons to do a special move, no using a whip for frustrating platforming and no weapons that fall apart after use.<br />
<br />
Developer Techland has, as William Faulkner suggested, killed their little darlings, and the <em>Juarez </em>followup is so much the better for it. If something you treasure was left by the wayside, I apologize. I can, however, assure that it was, in fact, terrible, and you were <em>wrong</em> to like it. Wrong.<br />

You know <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Techland/">Techland</a>, right? No no, not that weird <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_Zone">Discovery Zone</a> ripoff your Dad used to take you to when you were a little kid -- the Polish developer! You know, the comany that makes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez"><em>Call of Juarez</em></a> and ... <em>ummm</em> ... not much else. Anyway, while speaking recently with <a href="http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/697094/Call-of-Juarez-Developers-Zombie-Game-Dead-Island-Still-Alive-And-Kicking.html">G4TV</a>, the company's international brand manager, Blazej Krakowiak, confirmed a second title from the developer, albeit one announced way back in 2007, named <em>Dead Island</em>.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, <a href="http://www.deadislandgame.com/">the game's website</a> tells us little to nothing about the game's current status. So, we emailed Techland this afternoon and Krakowiak told us, "As far as <em>Dead Island</em> goes, nothing has changed regarding our media silence .... the game's worldwide publisher is still waiting for their best moment to strike and reveal the awesome stuff we're preparing for zombie fans and gamers." He also confirmed to us the game's still in-development status, saying, "The game's still alive (or better yet, still Dead) and doing great." <br />
<br />
As G4TV rightly points out, when the game was shown last it was without a publisher, so if anything, this means good things for Techland's zombie game. After all, we're still wondering what happened to the company's open-world FPS game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/25/warhound-open-ended-fps-headed-to-xbox-360-pc-in-2008/"><em>Warhound</em></a> ...<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/02/techlands-dead-island-still-shambling-about/">Techland's Dead Island still shambling about</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 17:15:00 EST. Evident in this trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a>, the cattle rustlers and other denizens of the wild west partook in the staples of a multiplayer experience, including traditional survival and team-based combat modes. Back then, they didn't call it "multiplayer," though. To them, it was all a part of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manifest_Destiny">Manifest Destiny</a>.<br /><br />After you've checked out the trailer above, be sure to hit up the gallery below for some screens.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-multiplayer/">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood multiplayer</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-multiplayer/#2107451"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/cojbibmp_wwl_outlaws_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-multiplayer/#2107450"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/cojbibmp_wwl_lawmen_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-multiplayer/#2107449"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/cojbibmp_bounty_hunt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/25/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-trailer-shows-off-multiplayer-mod/">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood trailer shows off multiplayer modes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Jun 2009 18:30:00 EST. In it you'll find some good ol' shootin' and ... well, more shootin'. Life must have been hard in the old west, kind of like life in modern times when a publisher <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/james-cameron-drops-avatar-game-details-everything-ever-about-t/">lets some film guy go on a diatribe</a> for a half an hour and pretty much neglects to promote its upcoming game during its press conference. Anyway, check out the trailer above and consider if the wild west is lookin' good to you, partner.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385766"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_civil_war_cannon__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385765"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_brothers__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385764"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_lasso__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385763"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_blowing_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385761"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_back_standing__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/call-of-juarez-phones-in-another-trailer/">Call of Juarez phones in another trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Jun 2009 15:45:00 EST. You know, we often think about living in the old west, and how cool it would be to answer to no one (and have them answer to <em>your gun</em>), but we'd probably just die of dysentery or something. Beats being shot to death, though, which is the grim fate suffered by no less than six fellas in the video above.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/21/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-trailer-has-sweet-music-dead-cow/">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood trailer has sweet music, dead cowboys</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 May 2009 19:45:00 EST. The McCall boys will mount up and ride out this June, an Ubisoft update confirms, and are looking for a steady hand to guide them into the unavoidable sunset. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood/"><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a> is trotting toward its date with destiny as it's been marked for "June 2009" by its publisher. The new, more specific date replaces "Summer 2009" in an otherwise unchanged press release (first issued in February) for the game, as posted by <a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=60866">WorthPlaying</a>.<br /><br /><em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em> is in development for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The Wild West prequel made waves last month when it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/new-pics-details-from-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood/">revealed</a> to feature historically accurate canoeing "situations."<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385766"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_civil_war_cannon__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385765"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_brothers__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385764"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_lasso__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385763"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_blowing_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385761"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_back_standing__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />... <em>Yeehaw!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/19/answer-the-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-in-june-2009/">Answer the 'Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood' in June 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Mar 2009 13:48:00 EST. From the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood"><span style="font-style: italic;">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</span></a> release we just received:<br />
<ul>
    <li>"Never Before Seen Western Experience - Experience the iconic settings full of outlaws - the West before it was tamed. The McCall brothers face a renegade Apache Chief, a greedy Mexican bandit, a vindictive Colonel, and others, all driven by greed with moral disregard. Enjoy a wide variety of situations, using horses, canoes and wagons to explore the vast natural landscapes of the fabled Wild West and its legendary period."</li>
</ul>
Dear Game Publishers: When you list features to entice people to buy your game, and you include characters "driven by greed with moral disregard" and then, deciding that's not quite enough, list that it also has canoes, your features list has probably just gone one paragraph too long.<br /><br />The release did have its purposes, though, as it taught us that the game was due in the "Summer of 2009" rather than just "later this year." Check out the full list of features (including canoes) right after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385766"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_civil_war_cannon__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385765"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_brothers__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385764"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_lasso__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385763"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_blowing_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-360-ps3/#1385761"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cojbib_all_screenshot_back_standing__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/new-pics-details-from-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New pics, details from Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/new-pics-details-from-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood/">New pics, details from Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Feb 2009 14:49:00 EST. Though we pray it doesn't foreshadow the appearance of giant mechanical spiders or Will Smith, Ubisoft describes its newly announced shooter, <em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em>, as featuring "the wildest West ever depicted." Judging by our previous exposure to Wests of varying <em>wildness</em> -- like in 2007's <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/callofjuarez?q=call%20of%20juarez"><em>Call of Juarez</em></a> -- we'd estimate that this particular West would have to be astonishingly lawless and violent for it to be considered the wildest ever.<br /><br />Regardless, Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft, feels confident that another collaboration with developer Techland is entirely called for. "We're confident this new collaboration with Techland will bring an even bigger and better adventure to fans of shooters and the lawless Wild West," he said. Of course, <em>true</em> fans of the lawless Wild West will probably just be downloading this from Juarez sites.<br /><br />Look for the wildest-West-ever prequel on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-to-depict-the-wildest-west-ever/">Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood to depict 'the wildest West ever'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Jan 2009 13:26:00 EST. Maybe this is just us, but we get a little nervous when a demo is released nearly three months after the game it's supposed to be promoting. "<em>Call of Juarez</em>? You want to try that?" Ubisoft seems to be saying. "You mean the western thing where you're a preacher or whatever? Yeah, that's probably lying around here somewhere, let me check in the back." <br />
<br />
As an aside, we find it interesting that <a href="http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/08/29/demo-call-of-juarez.aspx">the <em>Call of Juarez</em> demo</a> gets to Xbox Live on the same day that the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/CallofDuty4/">Call of Duty 4</a></em> public beta begins in earnest. Honestly, if we were at home on a Friday night and had to answer one of the calls, we'd be flummoxed. Duty always wants you to go fight for your country or something but Juarez is usually planning to read bible verses to people and then shoot them. Ah well, at least they're better than Cthulhu. You may just want to block his number.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/29/call-of-juarez-demo-finally-finds-its-way-to-live/">Call of Juarez demo finally finds its way to Live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Aug 2007 09:30:00 EST.
