April 3 will bring ten new cars to Microsoft's driving game, including the awesome Aston Martin AMR One, the gorgeous 2012 Jaguar XKR-S, and the classic 1995 BMW M5. Oh, '95 isn't classic enough for you? The pack also includes the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible, also known as the big huge boat of a car driven by Elvis.<br /><br />At 560 Microsoft points, the pack will set you back less than buying even just the floor mats for any of these cars. If you haven't yet, you can also subscribe to the Season Pass for <em>Forza 4</em>, which costs $29.99 and gets you all of the previous add-on content (four car packs including this one), as well as two more upcoming packs and the special IGN Car Pack. Although, if you're spending that much money, you might as well just pick up a Jag for yourself, right? Heck, why not two? <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forze-4-alpinestars-car-pack/">Forze 4 Alpinestars car pack</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forze-4-alpinestars-car-pack/#4922042"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/forzaaprilpack18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forze-4-alpinestars-car-pack/#4922043"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/forzaaprilpack1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forze-4-alpinestars-car-pack/#4922044"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/forzaaprilpack2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forze-4-alpinestars-car-pack/#4922045"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/forzaaprilpack3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forze-4-alpinestars-car-pack/#4922046"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/forzaaprilpack4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/27/forza-4-gets-10-car-alpinestars-car-pack-on-april-3/">Forza 4 gets 10-car Alpinestars car pack on April 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Mar 2012 23:59:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kinect-rush">Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure</a></em> brings five modern-classic animated films into real, still-animated life this March. The following screens offer a glimpse of each movie -- Cars, Toy Story, The Incredibles, Up and Ratatouille -- and how they'll transfer to motion controls. We're not entirely sure which full-body gesture is required for "riding sewage like it's a boat," but it appears we'll get the chance to find out with <em>Kinect Rush</em>. Thanks, Pixar.<br />

After the break, you can find the full list of 125 cars in the upcoming <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/driver-san-francisco"><em>Driver: San Francisco</em></a>, from the classic 1951 Hudson Hornet to the Pagani Zonda Cinque. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/blur"><em>Blur</em></a> has been in development at Bizarre Creations for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/22/rumor-bizarres-new-racer-is-blur/">at least a year now</a>, and probably even longer, but in all of that time, no one in the studio has worked on any DLC, according to lead designer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ged-talbot">Ged Talbot</a> speaking to <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/03/05/blur-dlc-coming-but-not-at-launch/">MTV Multiplayer</a>. While the title does have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/blur-pre-order-bonuses-make-decision-about-where-to-buy-less-cle/">some in-game pre-order bonuses</a> ready to go, there won't be any launch DLC, so you'll have to be satisfied with the 50 cars and 30 racing locales coming on the disc for a little while.<br />
<br />
But Talbot does say that Bizarre will be releasing additional content soon after the game goes on sale, and that "it's always been a massive part of the strategy to support the game with DLC." Your late '92 baby blue Subaru might not be in there right now, but just be patient, baby -- it's coming for you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/06/no-launch-dlc-for-blur-but-there-will-be-plenty/">No launch DLC for Blur, but there will be plenty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Mar 2010 02:15:00 EST. <div style="text-align: right;"><small>[<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljtaylor/">Paul J. Taylor</a>]</small></div>
Since its late October launch, <em>Forza 3</em> has sped into over 1 million homes worldwide, marking a commercial milestone for Turn 10's critically acclaimed racer. In conjunction with today's release of the game's second and now <em>premium</em> DLC car pack (the <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/11/17/free-forza-3-dlc-out-now-holiday-pack-in-december/">first one's always free</a>, ain't it?), dubbed "<a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/11/17/free-forza-3-dlc-out-now-holiday-pack-in-december/">Hot Holidays</a>," Microsoft has tallied up some <em>Forza 3</em> stats.<br />
<br />
According to the publisher, players have so far tracked 6.6 million hours and 590 million collective miles -- no word on flats or oil changes. Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg <a href="http://twitter.com/aarongreenberg/statuses/6474372534">tweets</a> that "more than 4M [million] auction bids" have lead to "$18.7 billion" virtual dollars spent (we have to imagine <em>at least</em> a billion went to that gorgeous coop pictured above). Of course, Microsoft has its eye on the <em>real</em> dollars, offering today's 10-car pack for 400<span class="album_title"><img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /></span> ($5). The full list of cars is posted after the break.<br />

Additionally, a second premium pack has been confirmed for January 12, and -- wouldn't you know it -- that date coincides with the kick-off of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/detroit-auto-show/">Detroit International Auto Show</a>. You think that was planned?<br />

Turn 10 has revealed a new addition to the <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Forza-Motorsport-3/">Forza Motorsport 3</a> racetrack family: Spain's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_de_Catalunya">Circuit de Catalunya</a> raceway. While the developer welcomes the Spanish Grand Prix track for the first time, it also announced plans for Germany's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nurburgring">N&uuml;rburgring</a> raceway to come back to the simulation racing franchise. Microsoft's press release describes Catalunya as "one of motorsport's most vital testing grounds," and detailed the track by adding players would "encounter a variety of obstacles," like hugging curves or speeding down straights -- which is notable because it proves there is no exciting way to verbally describe <span style="font-style: italic;">a road</span>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Turn-10/">Turn 10</a> also detailed a sample of Euro-Sport compact cars making their way into <span style="font-style: italic;">Forza Motorsport 3</span>, including the 2008 Saab 9-3 Turbo X, the 2009 Lotus Evora and the 2010 Fiat 500 Abarth SS. A full list of the adorable little European sport cars is after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-motorsport-3-07-28-09/">Forza Motorsport 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-motorsport-3-07-28-09/#2171531"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/fm3_eurosport_71_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-motorsport-3-07-28-09/#2171506"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/fm3_eurosport_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-motorsport-3-07-28-09/#2171534"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/fm3_eurosport_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-motorsport-3-07-28-09/#2171523"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/fm3_eurosport_14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-motorsport-3-07-28-09/#2171514"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/fm3_eurosport_15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/forza-motorsport-3-adds-circuit-de-catalunya-some-euro-sport-co/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Forza Motorsport 3 adds Circuit de Catalunya, some Euro-Sport compacts detailed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/forza-motorsport-3-adds-circuit-de-catalunya-some-euro-sport-co/">Forza Motorsport 3 adds Circuit de Catalunya, some Euro-Sport compacts detailed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 22:00:00 EST. It seems the Don has been spending some time in Paradise City, returning from his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/ea-whacks-the-godfather-ii-release-plans-delays-game/">extended vacation</a> with a pair of the city's more recognizable rides. Eagle eyes at Polish site <a href="http://www.playpc.pl/newsroom/artykul.asp?Artykul=546">Play PC</a> recently discovered similarities between two cars in both <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/godfather-2">Godfather II</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/burnout-paradise">Burnout Paradise</a></em>, namely the latter's Hunter Cavalry and Carson Opus.<br /><br />Whether or not the cars in the upcoming EA sequel are the exact same models as those in <em>Burnout</em>, or just strikingly similar, isn't exactly clear. In any case, the Don's chop shop looks like it sanded off most of the details from <em>Burnout</em>'s rides. When you're the Don, image is everything; we just hope the new paint jobs are as bulletproof as they are green.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-289312.aspx?CT=1">N4G</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/08/burnout-cars-spotted-on-godfather-iis-streets/">Burnout cars spotted on Godfather II's streets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 08 Mar 2009 22:45:00 EST. Another week, another bundle of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/rock-band-wii-store-adds-6-tracks-dlc-schedule-syncing-in-feb/"><em>Rock Band </em>DLC oldies</a> for the Wii, which according to the press release should be available now.<br /><strong><br />Individual Tracks </strong>(200 Wii points apiece)
<ul>
    <li>"Attack" - 30 Seconds to Mars <br /></li>
    <li>"Gimme Three Steps" - Lynrd Skynrd</li>
    <li>"Live Forever" - Oasis</li>
    <li>"Just What I needed" - The Cars</li>
    <li>"Siva" - Smashing Pumpkins</li>
    <li>"Tell Me Baby" - Red Hot Chili Peppers</li>
</ul>
Fun fact: the <em>Rock Band </em>series has about 559 songs. At this point, Wii owners have access to 212 of them, leaving 347 songs to go. At 6 songs per week -- not counting any future DLC -- we should see Wii owners catch up to everyone else some time before mid-2010.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/27/rock-band-wiikly-six-more-tracks-is-just-what-we-needed/">Rock Band Wiikly: Six more tracks, just what we needed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Jan 2009 20:30:00 EST. There's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/game-night/">Game Night</a> favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mario-kart-wii/"><em>Mario Kart Wii</em></a>, which <em>is</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/wii-fanboy-review-mario-kart-wii/">really fun</a>, but that already comes with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-evolution-of-the-wii-wheel/735211/">its own wheel</a>, which works surprisingly well. And after that, we have (in order of GameRankings.com score) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/11/first-look-excite-truck/"><em>Excite Truck</em></a>, <em>MX vs. ATV Untamed</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/speed-racer-videos-show-cars-chasin-after-someone/"><em>Speed Racer</em></a>, and <em>Cars</em>, followed by fourteen other depressing drives.<br /><br />None of which is intended as a slur on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/logitech">Logitech</a>'s new force feedback wheel for the Wii, which actually looks and sounds <em>excellent</em>. Releasing in November for $99.99 (!), the Logitech Speed Force Wireless features built-in gas and brake controls, a comfy-looking expandable lap rest, a wireless USB receiver and, naturally, full force feedback.<br /><br />It is almost certainly the <em>best possible way</em> to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/22/were-feeln-traumatised-from-lookn-at-cruisn/"><em>Cruis'n</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/08/the-best-and-worst-so-far/"><em>GT Pro Series</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/eidos-confirms-wacky-races-for-wii/"><em>Wacky Races: Crash &amp; Dash</em></a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cruisn/">Cruis'n</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cruisn/#991200"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/tmpphpd6z0o7_cg_098318025949564102030_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cruisn/#991199"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/tmpphp1epfnf_cg_098318025949564102030_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cruisn/#991198"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/tmpphpx4rnnq_cg_098318025949564102030_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cruisn/#991153"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/cruisn_6_cg_098318025949564102030_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cruisn/#991152"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/cruisn_4_cg_098318025949564102030_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/21/wiis-first-force-feedback-wheel-looks-great-seems-pointless/">Wii's first force feedback wheel looks great, seems pointless</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Aug 2008 15:38:00 EST. <br />Is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/14/mercury-still-making-its-way-to-wii/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mercury Meltdown Revolution</span></a> a part of your Wii collection? If not, it absolutely <span style="font-style: italic;">should </span>be, for Ignition's addictive puzzler must be one of the most criminally overlooked gems on the platform. And now Costco has it for <span style="font-style: italic;">$10.99</span>, along with a bunch of other titles that range from pretty damn good to shovelware (oh, hai <span style="font-style: italic;">Pool Party</span>). <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/16/angelina-jolie-buys-ghost-squad-promotes-violence/">Angelina Jolie favorite</a> <span style="font-style: italic;">Ghost Squad</span> is also on sale, giving you a chance to knock terrorists from their speeding, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/10/ghost-squad-stands-out-from-the-crowd/">swan-shaped jet skis</a>, <span style="font-style: italic;">and</span> save money in the process. If a better offer has come along this <span style="font-style: italic;">century</span>, we've yet to see it.<br /><br />Below are the six titles that most stood out to us (the full list is past the jump); we expect at least two of these to be in your house by June 22nd, when the sale ends:<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/rock-band-picks-up-metallica-entire-album-dlc/">First promised</a> back in July of '07 and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/new-rock-band-store-reminds-us-full-albums-are-still-coming-soo/">teased again</a> just last month, <em>Rock Band</em> will finally see its first full downloadable album when <a href="http://www.rockband.com/news/pr/293138">Judas Priest's "Screaming for Vengeance"</a> becomes available Tuesday, April 22. The set of ten master tracks will be available for $14.99 (that's 1200 Microsoft Points for those who can only make calculations in fake currencies) or individually for $1.99 (160 MS Points) per song.<br /> <br />A <a href="http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44599">Rock Band forum moderator</a> also confirms two more albums coming down the pike sometime soon: The Cars' self-titled debut and The Pixies' "Doolittle." Still no word on The Who's "Who's Next," which was originally promised as the first album available for download, or Nirvana's "Nevermind," which was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/28/rock-band-nirvanas-nevermind-real-venues-and-a-possible-rel/">hinted at</a> in last July's GamePro -- or Cyndi Lauper's "Time after Time," which we've been hoping against hope will be coming ever since the game's release. Can the DS do "serious" racing games? As things stand, there are three such titles due this year on the handheld: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/evolution-gt-joins-growing-field-of-serious-ds-racers/">Evolution GT</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/14/trackmania-ds-confirmed/">Trackmania DS</a></em>, and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/codemasters-reveals-ds-racer/#comments">Race Driver: GRID</a></em>. Developer Codemasters showed off the latter earlier today, and you can color us <em>impressed</em>. Watch the trailer above and you'll see <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcdDg30VBgo"><strike>pure, white stallions emerging from magnificently rendered waves</strike></a> that this is already looking remarkably fluid -- and that's with eight cars on track at once and an array of weather effects.<br /><br />It's an early lead for <em>GRID</em> then, though there's every chance that <em>Trackmania</em>'s vaunted track creation mode could see it pull back in front.<br /><br /><br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/04/race-driver-grid-trailer-revs-up-impresses/">Race Driver: GRID trailer revs up, impresses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Apr 2008 18:00:00 EST. They say when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/01/stormfront-studios-shutting-down/">one tree falls</a>, another pushes up from the soil to take its place, a circle of life that's mirrored today with the establishment of Arizona-based developer <a href="http://www.timeflystudios.com/">TimeFly Studios</a>, a developer committed to creating games based on both licensed and original properties. <br /><br />The company is licensed developer for Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, and while no specific projects have yet been announced from the fledgling company, the studio notes that it will focus on the action/adventure, rhythm, and puzzle game genres. Noticeably absent from that list are racing games, interesting given that TimeFly Studios was founded by former Rainbow Studios vets Brad Ruminer, Dennis Booth, and Glenn O'Bannon, each of whom have left their fingerprints on such titles as <em>MX vs. ATV</em> and <em>Cars</em>. <br /><br />While we continue to wait to see what kind of fruit comes of this new tree, we'll just sit here and play <em>Splashdown</em>, another of the trio's creations, and imagine racing watercraft down the river Charente.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/mx-vs-atv-vets-form-timefly-studios/">MX vs. ATV vets form Timefly Studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Apr 2008 01:00:00 EST. Codemasters is striving to do what nobody has done before: create a competent racing game on the DS, as they've announced they're working on <em>Race Driver: GRID</em>. While we're not ones to believe that the platform is designed for games in the racing genre, we remain cautiously optimistic about this. Codemasters released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/the-b-ack-log-coming-clean-about-dirt/"><em>Dirt</em></a>, a game that even this Nintendo Fanboy can admit was <em>amazing</em>, so we're hoping this title shows the same care and polish.<br /><br />Check out some screens in our gallery below.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/codemasters-reveals-ds-racer/">Codemasters reveals DS racer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Feb 2008 17:00:00 EST. For its third fiscal quarter through the holiday season, publisher THQ saw their sales boost to $509.6 million but profits down to $15.5 million (via <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=17249">Gamasutra</a>). Comparatively, last year they had $475.7 million in sales (a 7% raise) and $62.1 million in profit (a 75% drop). THQ also had $27 million in non-cash charges due to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/thq-cans-frontlines-ps3-juiced-and-stuntman-franchises/">cancellations of <em>Juiced </em>and <em>Stuntman</em></a>.<br /><br />Big sellers include THQ's licenses. Life to date sales from Nickelodeon projects total $1 billion, and <em>WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 </em>enjoyed a whopping five million in unit sales -- behold the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/03/thq-profits-show-power-of-licensing/">power of licensing</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/thq-earns-more-sales-less-profits-lots-of-licenses/">THQ earns more sales, less profits, lots of licenses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Feb 2008 22:00:00 EST. <p>With THQ still riding the wave of financial fortitude created by its adaptations of Disney Pixar's <em>Cars</em> and <em>Ratatouille</em> animated features, the company has unsurprisingly confirmed plans to give the film studio's next feature, <em>WALLo.E</em>, similar treatment. Versions of the movie-made-game, which centers on a story of a robot named <em>WALLo.E</em> (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) and his journey of self discovery, should begin to populate store shelves for every platform under the sun in time for the film's summer release. <br /><br />This game is the second title, following last year's <em>Ratatouille</em>, to stem from a new four game deal between THQ and Pixar, meaning that we expect these two will remain in bed together over the next couple of years at the very least. THQ hasn't shed many details on how the<em> WALLo.E</em> games will play out, though given previous releases, we expect a handful of levels lifted from the film, partnered with mind numbing icon collecting and actors delivering lines with all of the enthusiasm of a cheese sandwich. Excited yet?</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/03/thq-plans-games-based-on-pixars-wall-e-nobody-surprised/">THQ plans games based on Pixar's WALL?E, nobody surprised</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Jan 2008 08:57:00 EST. The pack, which retails for $29.99 USD, is comprised of <em>Cars</em>, <em>Open Season</em>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fuzionfrenzy"><em>Fuzion Frenzy 2</em></a> -- three E-rated games which are notable for tepid reviews across the board.<br /><br />It's definitely for a good cause, so we really shouldn't be complaining. All retail fees for the three-pack have been waived, meaning that the entirety of each $29.99 purchase goes directly to the ESA Foundation, which raises money to support groups like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Penny Arcade's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/childsplay">Child's Play</a> event, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/01/re-mission-devs-hopelab-cause-serious-ruckus/">HopeLab</a>, the developers behind the serious game <em>Re/Mission</em>. <br /><br />The charity three-pack is currently available in retail stores, as well as on online sites such as <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Holiday-Bundle/dp/B000WNLJGE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1195204414&amp;sr=8-3">Amazon</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/esa-and-microsoft-collaborate-offer-mediocre-games-for-charity/">ESA and Microsoft collaborate, offer mediocre games for charity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Nov 2007 05:00:00 EST. The <em>Best of Blu-ray: Action</em> is probably the best of the bundles despite the inclusion of the hilariously awful <em>Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut</em>, but with the newer, gorier <em>Troy Director's Cut, Wyatt Earp</em> and <em>Blood Diamond</em>, you're getting some really great movies at a really great price of only $59.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/04/blu-ray-movie-releases-for-the-week-of-nov-6/">Blu-ray movie releases for the week of November 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 04 Nov 2007 14:00:00 EST. Any good at <em>all</em>. But that's not a universal truth, as occasionally, a game based on a film shines through as strongly as any more original property. Some people have told us, for instance, that <em>Cars DS</em> is not a complete waste of a cartridge, especially for the younger and more casual gamers in our lives. But looking back, there are very few licensed games or game tie-ins that stand out. Perhaps the best of the lot was a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldeneye_64">stronghold of the N64</a>, but the link to the movie was a little tenuous at times. Have any other licensed games rocked your socks over the years? What was so <em>horrifically</em> bad it made you want to kick things? We'd love to <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/dsd">hear</a> about it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/02/ds-daily-movie-licenses/">DS Daily: Movie licenses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Apr 2007 09:00:00 EST. <p>Not a lot of info is out yet on Pixar's summer release <em>Ratatouille</em>, but THQ has let out word that before the movie hits theaters in June, you'll be able to play the game adaptation on your PSP. There aren't much details about any version of the game besides the next-gen one, but if the PSP version is similar, it'll be an action platformer. Will the collective <em>Ratatouille</em> games be the best selling game of this year like <em>Cars</em> was last year? Either way, I'm looking forward to the movie and hoping the game is a worthwhile experience as well. </p>

No, not on a shelf at your local GameStop -- in Next Generation's list of the top 100 best-selling games in North America in 2006. But you get more than just a regular ol' list; they also broke the games down by average critical rating, and it's pretty interesting to compare sales with review ratings. More signs that the review system could use an overhaul? Or just an indication that critics and gamers often look for different things?<br /><br />Some interesting things we noticed while perusing the list: <em><br /></em>
<ul>
    <li><em>Bratz</em> outsold a lot of very good DS games, including <em>Tetris</em>. We can only guess that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/15/games-4-girls-arent/">Games 4 Girls</a> campaign worked. Also, we're now certain that Bratz dolls should be banned, due to the fact that they're obviously both evil and insidious.<br /> </li>
    <li>People really dig <em>Cars</em>.</li>
    <li>DS games started to get fewer and further apart as the list wound down. We suspect that's simply because there are <em>too many</em> great DS games for people to buy. Our wallets hurt. Really. But we're not complaining.</li>
    <li><em>Nintendogs</em> barely made it into the top 50. We're surprised.</li>
    <li>The highest ranked DS exclusive: <em>New Super Mario Bros</em>., which came in at number 5.</li>

The car features a dash integrated Xbox 360 console using a projector display. The projector actually projects the image onto the inside of the vehicle's hood which can retract at the push of a button. <em>Another</em> 360 runs through two LCD screens located in the seat backs of the two front seats, and a retractable rear projection screen is located at the rear of the vehicle. The front seats include force feedback, the sound is produced by a surround sound system, and all 360s are played with wireless controllers. To top it all off, the driver's control is mounted directly into the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jalopnik/309482582/">steering wheel</a>. Why anyone would put this much crap in their car, we have no idea (we'd rather play on the couch) but if we <em>had</em> to have a kickass car with an integrated 360, this is definitely the one we'd pick.<br /> <br /> [Image via <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/bikracer/319279044/">bikracer</a>'s Flickr account]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/27/suzuki-unleashes-360-integrated-concept-car/">Suzuki unleashes 360 integrated concept car</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Dec 2006 15:35:00 EST. The new studio marks the fourth that Disney has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/29/buena-vista-games-races-to-climax-in-europe/">bought</a> or started up on their own in the past two years at a tune of more than $200 million dollars.<br /><br />While Nintendo puts the emphasis on fun in their games instead of next-gen processing power, Disney could be a great fit with them. Both Nintendo and Disney skew heavily towards younger audiences, and those aren't the kind of gamers who'll be concerned with how many polygons it takes to render Goofy's hat into a photorealistic prop. They have sequels in the immediate future: another <em>Chicken Little</em> game comes out around Wii-launch, and you can probably expect another <em>Cars</em> video game.<br /><br />It'll be interesting to see what Fall Line can produce on their own. Maybe they'll port <em>Kingdom Hearts</em> to the Wii. That would be worth a wait.<br /><br />[Thanks, Bored]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/07/disney-forms-nintendo-games-studio/">Disney forms Nintendo games studio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Nov 2006 09:30:00 EST. <p>Loads of people, especially Nintendo haters, have been questioning the quality of the Wii graphics. French site, <a href="http://www.ngcfrance.com/index.php">NGCFrance</a>, has put up 13 sets of <a href="http://www.ngcfrance.com/news.php?operande=0&amp;idx=6119&amp;r=1">images</a> from games featured on the GameCube and Wii one after the other to compare the difference, if any.</p>
<p>We wouldn't <em>completely</em> trust these screens, fellow Wii fanboys/gals. We aren't saying that the site intentionally altered screens to try and make a negative point nor that the pictures are wrong due to our Nintendo fandom, we are just saying to look with an open mind. We especially love the <em>Fire Emblem</em> comparison. Magic blast vs. magic blast. Sweet.</p>
<p>On a lighter note, Google translator is <em>teh awesome</em>. Check out what a Nintendo Fanboy from France had to say in Nintendo's defense:</p>
<p><em>me yesterday I played there the mgs and DIFFERENCE EAST MUCH CLEARER than that!!!!!!!! because laWii same on a screen of 120cm reacted very well and remains super beautiful!! and sonic be superb!!! not no concern it above Wii will be more beautiful, more powerful and heuresement!! ^^ zelda tp pouwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwa!!! brilliant comamdes!!!</em></p>

White is nice and all, but you know what they say about -- actually, there's really nowhere that joke can go except to court, so we're just going to say hurray for choice! The clean, mean white Wii we've seen over the past months is sleek and beautiful, but it's nice to get some flipside images. How will we <em>ever</em> decide come release date?<br /><br />Oh, right, the rest of the story ... these images come courtesy of <a href="http://wii.ign.com/articles/725/725843p1.html">IGN</a>, where their staffers got a chance to sit down with THQ for a Wii marathon with some of their launch games. Because our big daddy blog <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/16/new-photos-from-thqs-wii-event/">Joystiq</a> knows what we really want (black Wii wins over Spongebob, y'all), they've compiled the best pictures for your <strike>drooling</strike> viewing pleasure. That's doubly nice, since the black Wii pics are now MIA at IGN. The IGN feature also includes some hands-on impressions of THQ's Wii-lease games: <em>Avatar: The Last Airbender</em>, <em>Cars</em>, the latest <em>Spongebob</em> title, and <em>Barnyard</em>, the game that offers us the chance at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/27/a-different-sort-of-wii-shlist/">Wii darts</a> we <span style="font-style: italic;">so</span> crave. <br /><br />[Thanks, Marc!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/16/wii-black-and-some-thq-games/">Wii black! ... and some THQ games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Aug 2006 16:55:00 EST. Fear not, fanboys and fangirls -- <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2006/07/25/how-thq-plans-to-use-the-wiimote/">Siliconera</a> took some time to investigate THQ and their upcoming games with regard to how they'll work with the Wii controls.</p>
<p>The pieces focuses on three games: <em>Cars</em>, <em><span class="nintendo">SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab</span></em>, and <em>Avatar: The Last Airbender</em>. Though these titles are each coming out on other systems as well as Wii, THQ has worked to ensure that the control scheme takes advantage of the Wiimote. How? Slashing melee attacks in <em>Avatar</em>, using the Wiimote as a steering wheel in <em>Cars</em>, and for <em>SpongeBob</em>, the controller serves as an aircraft control stick in one of the mini-games. Siliconera has the full story. Things are looking up when it comes to Wii ports. </p>

I was so thrilled at the news that
<em>Micro Machines v4</em> was headed for the PSP that I yawned exactly <em>three times</em>. Admittedly, I could be
alone on this side of the fence. Maybe there're people out there who like the idea of racing tiny cars around normally
mundane environments like your kitchen. Maybe there're people out there who like reminiscing back to a time when the
<em>Micro Machines</em> game license was still worth more than poop. Maybe there're people out there who just have a
thing for causing themselves great pain. Who knows? The litany of offenses is long and altogether
stinky: <em>Enter the Matrix</em> sucked big time, <em>Bad Boys: Miami Takedown</em> was so atrocious it probably made
Martin Lawrence wish his career died sooner, and don't even get me started on <em>E.T.</em> And while I can't deny the
successful turns titles like <em>The Chronicles of Riddick</em> and <em>King Kong</em> had, I just wasn't very excited
when I heard that Pixar's upcoming animated film "Cars" would be sending off a little bundle of joy to the
PSP.<br /><br />Chances are it'll be a kiddie game which, with the exception of <em>Lego Star Wars</em>, already
guarantees that no one above the mental age of four will touch it. So unless I happen to befall some tragic fate where
I revert back to infancy, you won't find me drooling spit over a copy of this game when it launches, which will quite
possibly be around the time the movie hits theatres, as history (and earnings figures) suggest.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/09/cars-on-the-psp-gimme-a-y-a-w-n/">"Cars" on the PSP? <p
class="MsoNormal">Here's a concrete example of life imitating art: The Raggio car from <em>Ridge Racer</em>,
which was most recently seen on the PSP, actually exists! I'm not much for car specs and all that jazz, but I
know what I like when I see it. And Daddy definitely, <em>definitely </em>like.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/20/real-life-raggio-from-ridge-racer/">Real-life Raggio from Ridge Racer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jan 2006 12:45:00 EST.
