The feature allows players to use their PlayStation Vita consoles as controllers for the PS3 version of the game.<br /><br />Ayano also noted an October 30 release date for alternate costumes for <em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em> and a mid-December release window for the next <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/12/street-fighter-x-tekken-to-get-hefty-balancing-update-later-th/">"hefty" game update</a>. The update will include character balance fixes, such as tweaked anti-air abilities for Tekken characters, in addition to several visual effects changes.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/14/cross-link-more-alternate-costumes-announced-for-street-fighter/">Cross-link, more alternate costumes announced for Street Fighter X Tekken</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 14 Oct 2012 18:00:00 EST. Producer Mike Gamble <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/14/rampant-speculation-theater-presents-bioware-teases-single-mass/">showed off one picture</a> of future <em>Mass Effect 3</em> content in his panel at Comic-Con, and from what he told Joystiq it seems to point to more single-player DLC. "We want to do single-player DLC," he said. "We want to do single-player, maybe more multiplayer if people still play it."<br /><br />That single-player DLC, whatever it is, will still be about Shepard, not someone else in the universe. "<em>Mass Effect 3</em> is Shepard's story," said Gamble, "so the single-player DLC for <em>Mass Effect 3</em> will probably focus around Shepard."<br /><br />The Earth DLC pack for <em>Mass Effect 3</em> will be the fifth update to the game since launch, following three other multiplayer updates, and the Extended Cut update that fans begged for. Mike Gamble and his team have learned a lot over the course of these updates, but he told us there were quite a few things that surprised them about the reception to <em>Mass Effect 3 </em>multiplayer.<br /><br />"We see people who have everything unlocked all the way up to level 20 on everything, plus all the mods, plus all of the gear, everything," said Gamble. "It takes a lot of time, a lot of time to get that stuff, like hundreds and hundreds of hours of play to usually get up to that level. And some of these people had done it in the first month to two months."<br /><br />Gamble was also been surprised by the response to the Vorcha class, playable for the first time in the Rebellion Pack DLC. "I expected people to shy away from the Vorcha because they're Vorcha, but everyone seems to love to play with them."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/17/mass-effect-3-single-player-dlc-to-focus-on-shepard/">Mass Effect 3 single-player DLC to focus on Shepard</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jul 2012 02:00:00 EST. We just got to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/22/meet-the-3ds-xl-in-our-hardware-gallery/">with the Nintendo 3DS XL</a> here at Comic-Con in San Diego, and its big screen really impressed us. The picture is clearer and brighter than the current 3DS (at least in the dark ballroom where we played <em>Super Mario 3D Land)</em>, and the 3D is much better. There is still a sweet spot to get your eyes in, but once you're there, the much larger screen makes it easier to focus in, and the 3D just seems more effective as a result.<br /><br />There aren't any significant differences to the rest of the device. The control stick, buttons, and other controls all feel like the 3DS. The larger unit might be a little unwieldy for small hands, but the stick and buttons are close enough to the edges that pushing them around shouldn't be an issue. On the whole, the device is more rounded off than the previous system. From the top, while closed, it looks more like a clamshell than a rectangle.<br /><br />The larger size makes it a very sturdy device indeed. Sitting on the table in front of you, it's almost like a small laptop. The Start, Select, Home, and Power buttons have all lost their white touches, so that top screen just dominates the device. Nintendo's making a serious statement here, and it's that bigger should be better.<br /><br />We're hesitant to get too hyperbolic about the 3DS XL until we're able to really run it through its paces, but yes, on first touch, it's gorgeous. This is not a device designed to fit in your pocket, though it certainly seems like the best way to play Nintendo's growing 3DS library. Below, you can see a gallery of hands-on pictures (including a PSP comparison -- that's the only device we had in the bag at the time).<br /><br />The 3DS XL arrives on August 19, so if you were planning to buy a 3DS you might want to wait until then.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-xl-hands-on-at-comic-con-2012/">3DS XL Hands-on at Comic-Con 2012</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-xl-hands-on-at-comic-con-2012/#5150711"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/threedsxlcomiccon01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-xl-hands-on-at-comic-con-2012/#5150712"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/threedsxlcomiccon02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-xl-hands-on-at-comic-con-2012/#5150713"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/threedsxlcomiccon03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-xl-hands-on-at-comic-con-2012/#5150714"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/threedsxlcomiccon04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-xl-hands-on-at-comic-con-2012/#5150715"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/threedsxlcomiccon05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/13/hands-on-with-the-nintendo-3ds-xl/">Hands-on with the Nintendo 3DS XL</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jul 2012 19:25:00 EST. Producer Tanya Jessen, Lead Artist Pete Ellis, and Design Director Cliff Bleszinski talked at length about the game, revealing it to be a mashup of <em>Minecraft</em>, <em>The Walking Dead</em> and <em>Team Fortress 2. </em>It's designed and built in Unreal Engine 4, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/12/fortnite-is-epics-first-unreal-engine-4-game-heading-exclusive/">destined for a PC-only launch</a>.<br /><br />Jessen described <em>Fortnite</em> as a "co-op sandbox survival game" with three different elements. Scavenging will allow players to go out into the ruined world and find items and materials wherever they can. Building will let players first erect and then customize various structures of all shapes and sizes. Combat, the last part of the game, pits players against creepy yet "Looney Tunes-inspired" monsters attempting to take those structures down.<br /><br />"This is not just a game for people who like shooters or RPGS," said Jessen. "It's a game for everybody." And according to Bleszinski, <em>Fortnite</em> is a big change internally from what the studio has been working on more recently. "It's been really fresh for us," he said. "We've had like six years of <em>Gears</em> and we've perfected the art of killing. <em>Fortnite</em> is serving as a fresh change of pace for us."<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fortnite-san-diego-comic-con-2012/">Fortnite (San Diego Comic Con 2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fortnite-san-diego-comic-con-2012/#5150397"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/fortniitebuildingfinal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fortnite-san-diego-comic-con-2012/#5150398"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/fortniitedurrrburger_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fortnite-san-diego-comic-con-2012/#5150399"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/fortniiteenvironment1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fortnite-san-diego-comic-con-2012/#5150400"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/fortniiteenvironment2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fortnite-san-diego-comic-con-2012/#5150402"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/fortniitenightcombat_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/12/epics-fortnite-is-a-fresh-and-bubbly-co-op-survival-sandbox-g/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Epic's Fortnite is a 'fresh and bubbly' co-op survival sandbox game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/12/epics-fortnite-is-a-fresh-and-bubbly-co-op-survival-sandbox-g/">Epic's Fortnite is a 'fresh and bubbly' co-op survival sandbox game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jul 2012 15:30:00 EST. Nightwing and Cyborg have joined the fight in Netherrealm's gritty fighting game. Nightwing (aka Dick Grayson, the original Robin) is a nimble staff-wielding fighter, and Cyborg is a heavy hitter, with strong close attacks backed up with laser shots and missile strikes.<br /><br />We'll get a chance to play both of these heroes tomorrow on the show floor, and we'll let you know how the game is looking these days. Comic-Con runs through the weekend, so stay tuned for lots more four-color-based news from San Diego.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/11/nightwing-and-cyborg-coming-to-injustice-gods-among-us/">Nightwing and Cyborg coming to Injustice: Gods Among Us</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jul 2012 21:45:00 EST. It turns out the Riddler has crafted one more puzzle, hiding one last trophy at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. There's only one way to unlock these 8-pound, LED-lit replicas, and that's to put down a $100 pre-order at the TriForce booth. Granted, that's not really much of a riddle, but there's certainly an element of challenge associated with opening your wallet.</div><br /><span style="text-align: left; ">Only 100 of these puppies (kittens?) will be manufactured and, to make them even rarer, Comic-Con will be the only opportunity to place a pre-order.</span><span style="text-align: left; "> </span>The full price to throw one of these real trophies onto the pile of digital trophies you've already collected? $400. Me<em>-yow</em>.<br /><br />Check out a high-resolution image of the trophy in the gallery below.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-city-pink-catwoman-riddler-trophy-replica/">Batman: Arkham City (Pink Catwoman Riddler Trophy Replica)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-city-pink-catwoman-riddler-trophy-replica/#5103227"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/sdccexclusivepinkriddlertrophy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/19/the-last-catwoman-riddler-trophy-is-exclusively-at-comic-con/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The last Catwoman Riddler trophy is exclusively at Comic-Con</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/19/the-last-catwoman-riddler-trophy-is-exclusively-at-comic-con/">The last Catwoman Riddler trophy is exclusively at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jun 2012 21:30:00 EST. Despite being classified as a comic book convention, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Comic-Con">Comic-Con</a> continues to hemorrhage gaming news, the latest interesting tidbit being this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/warhammer-40k-space-marine"><em>Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine</em></a> gameplay video. Speaking with <a href="http://comic-con.gamespot.com/video/6324921/warhammer-40000-space-marine-comic-con-2011-demo">Gamespot</a>, THQ's Daniel Isaac outlines how Captain Titus' jump-pack and Thunder Hammer will allow players to effortlessly murder tens of thousands of severely out-classed and under-prepared orcs. Isaac also details the title's class-based multiplayer, which we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/warhammer-40k-space-marine-multiplayer-preview/">previewed</a> last week, as well as <em>Space Marine</em>'s one-billion possible armor customizations.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/24/comic-con-video-extravaganza-continues-with-warhammer-40k-space/">Comic-Con video extravaganza continues with Warhammer 40K: Space Marine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Jul 2011 17:30:00 EST. The deluge of news from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Comic-Con">Comic-Con</a> continues to, uhm, <em>luge</em>, even as the convention's end draws closer and closer. <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/07/23/gears-of-war-3-gains-casual-mode-old-spice-dude.aspx">Game Informer</a> reports that Epic's forthcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Gears-of-War-3"><em>Gears of War 3</em></a> will continue the series' tradition of offering an aim-assisted Casual Mode for players who aren't well versed in the delicate art of chainsaw sculpting.<br />
<br />
This time around, new players will also be able to sharpen their skills in their own dedicated multiplayer channels. According to <a href="http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2011/07/gears-of-war-3-gets-casual-multiplayer--new-cast-member-and-graffiti/1">USA Today</a>, players who have played <em>Gears</em> online previously, or participated in the Gears 3 beta will be unable to join Casual multi. That seems like overkill -- the honor system would be enough, in our opinions. After all, the Internet has a long and storied history of shepherding and tenderly caring for its newcomers.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/24/casual-mode-returns-in-gears-of-war-3-brings-casual-multiplayer/">Casual Mode returns in Gears of War 3, brings Casual Multiplayer along for the ride</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Jul 2011 12:30:00 EST. <br />
The latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/skyrim"><em>Skyrim</em></a> trailer from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Comic-Con">Comic-Con</a> has dissuaded a lot of our fears about the newest entry in <em>The Elder Scrolls</em> series. It's good to know that shambling aimlessly through an endless wilderness will still be a major part of the game, for instance, and that we'll still feel a smug sense of self-satisfaction as we callously off a complete stranger with a skillfully placed arrow from the shadows.<br />
<br />
It also looks like we're going to spend a large majority of our time being set ablaze by dragons, which may or may not be karmically related to the amount of time we spend shooting arrows out of shadows.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/24/get-roasted-alive-by-dragons-in-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrims-co/">Get roasted alive by dragons in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's Comic-Con trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Jul 2011 11:30:00 EST. Despite having been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/18/el-shaddai-officially-delayed-until-august-16/">delayed</a> until August 16, angelically-oriented and biblically-based action platformer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/El-Shaddai-Ascension-of-the-Metatron"><em>El Shaddai: Ascension Of The Metatron</em></a> is still very much alive, kickin' around the Heavens in its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/20/edwin-and-enoch-el-shaddais-official-jeans/">designer jeans</a> and gleaming white armor.<br />
<br />
To prove as much, Ignition Entertainment has released a new cinematic trailer during this year's Comic-Con, which has been stuffed to the rafters with gooey tentacle angels, stained-glass platforming and futuristic motorcycle chases. Still no word on an <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Shaddai_(song)">Amy Grant Collector's Edition</a>, but we'll keep digging.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/24/el-shaddai-comic-con-trailer-is-biblically-epic/">El Shaddai Comic-Con trailer is biblically epic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Jul 2011 10:30:00 EST. <em>Tekken</em> project lead Katsuhiro Harada clearly hasn't been studying the finer points of the <em>Street Fighter</em> series he's currently collaborating on, as <em>Street Fighter</em> creative lead Yoshinori Ono surprises him with a flurry of shoryukens at multiple points in this bizarre SDCC short, promoting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a> (and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tekken-x-street-fighter">vice versa</a>, of course).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/tekken-lead-cannot-withstand-street-fighter-leads-furious-flurr/">Tekken lead cannot withstand Street Fighter lead's furious flurry of shoryukens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 18:40:00 EST. Hey <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/payday-the-heist"><em>Payday: The Heist</em></a>? You seem like a pretty cool idea for an online FPS, and we're looking forward to downloading you from PSN. But if you're going to call one of your scenarios "Panic Room" and then release screens from it and have none of them feature Jodie Foster then what are you even <em>doing</em>?<br />

What better place to drop some info on the latest Spider-Man game than Comic-Con? While <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/spiderman-edge-of-time">Spider-Man: Edge of Time</a></em> doesn't have the <em>Mirror's Edge</em>-style gameplay we didn't know we wanted until seeing the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XayxMPrUP4">Amazing Spider-Man trailer</a>, it does have something far more concrete: a release date of October 4.<br />
<br />
The date was announced during an Activision event at San Diego Comic-Con today, along with the release date of <em>Prototype 2</em>, though Activision <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/activision-reveals-april-launch-for-prototype-2-september-for-x/">already dropped that info</a> earlier today. There was a lot to like about Beenox's first swing at Spidey with last year's <em>Shattered Dimensions</em>, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/13/spider-man-shattered-dimensions-review/">our review</a> criticized the game for feeling "rushed." Is just one year enough time to make sure <em>Edge of Time</em> doesn't feel similarly rushed? We'll get some hands-on time with the title at Comic-Con and let you know how what our Spidey-sense says.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/spider-man-edge-of-time-dated-at-comic-con-spidey-is-mr-octob/">Spider-Man: Edge of Time dated at Comic-Con, Spidey is Mr. October</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jul 2011 22:15:00 EST. Penned by sci-fi and fantasy author John Shirley, the book tells the story of Andrew Ryan and the beginnings of his underwater metropolis. If you would (kindly) like to add it to your collection, <em>BioShock: Rapture</em> is available in both paperback and hardcover.<br />
<br />
In addition, Shirley will host a panel at Comic-Con this Friday. Entitled "Writing in Videogames," the panel begins at 10am in room 32AB. Shirley will also be on hand to sign copies of <em>BioShock: Rapture</em> at the Tor Books booth (#2707) from 12pm to 1pm.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/psa-bioshock-rapture-novel-surfaces-at-retail/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSA: BioShock: Rapture novel surfaces at retail</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/psa-bioshock-rapture-novel-surfaces-at-retail/">PSA: BioShock: Rapture novel surfaces at retail</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jul 2011 01:20:00 EST. The artists and writers at Marvel Comics display little inhibition when conjuring up fantastic worlds and alternate dimensions, but even they have a tough time imagining a universe in which you only buy a Capcom fighting game once. According to an unconfirmed report on comics blog <a href="http://thequarterbin.com/2011/07/15/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-mvc3-to-get-12-new-characters-in-budget-re-release/">The Quarter Bin</a>, next week's Comic-Con in San Diego (Earth-616) will host the announcement of "<em>Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em>."<br />
<br />
We know that <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em> producer Ryota Niitsuma will share some news at a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/11/marvel-vs-capcom-3-producer-hosting-panel-at-comic-con/"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em> panel</a> on Saturday, and that Marvel Interactive will have its own panel to discuss several upcoming games, along with "some exciting new details about the future of <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em>." Since Capcom's unlikely to comment before those panels take place, this rumor is hinged on the singling out of <em>MvC3 </em>over the franchise as a whole. (Another possibility: A PC or portable version of the same game.)<br />
<br />
Still, The Quarter Bin stakes its reputation on the assertion that Capcom will repeat its <em>Super Street Fighter IV</em> strategy and launch <em>Ultimate MvC3</em> at a discounted price ($39.99), with 12 extra characters added to the original roster. We remain skeptical of this rumor -- not only have we been unable to turn up any domain registrations for the title, but the Earth-616 Capcom would surely go for "<em>Penultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em>" first.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> As expected, Capcom gave us its standard response. "We do not comment on rumors or speculation."<br />
<br />
<strong>Update 2:</strong> It's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-lands-in-november-adds-strider-gh/">real</a>.<br />
<br />

Capcom veteran and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-3"><em>Marvel Vs. Capcom 3</em></a> Producer/Director Ryota Niitsuma will be hosting a pannel at this year's Comic-Con, where conventionistas will be the first to take a sneak peek at ... <em>something</em>. <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci11_prog_sat.php">The schedule</a> teases a new reveal of some kind, urging fighting fans to come to the pannel to hear "the fantastic news" about the series.<br />
<br />
What that news may be remains shrouded in mystery for the moment, but true believers can at least look forward to a Q&amp;A session with Niitsuma. Attendees will also have the chance to fight on stage for "fantastic prizes" (in the game, probably). We expect at least one person will be <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0ooMGXTcZw&amp;feature=player_detailpage#t=183s">kicked hundreds and hundreds of times</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/11/marvel-vs-capcom-3-producer-hosting-panel-at-comic-con/">Marvel vs. Capcom 3 producer hosting panel at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Jul 2011 12:55:00 EST. Everyone's favorite character from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/borderlands"><em>Borderlands</em></a> is getting a toy, courtesy of NECA. No, we're not talking about a Scooter action figure (though that sounds like an <em>excellent </em>idea), we're talking about bounty board attendant supreme, CL4P-TP -- Claptrap, for short. <br />
<br />
NECA was on-hand at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/comic-con-2010">Comic-Con</a> this past weekend, showing off the prototype above. The final version, which will be able to recite lines from the game, is slated for release this October. Frankly, we can't wait to get our own, mostly because we've always wondered what kind of loot our house has been hiding.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/26/hey-check-out-this-claptrap-toy-everybody-its-dancing-it/">Hey, check out this Claptrap toy, everybody -- it's dancing, it's dancing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Jul 2010 18:40:00 EST. If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's the overwhelming level of cuteness to be found in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/okamiden"><em>Okamiden</em></a>, the upcoming sequel to <em>Okami</em>. From the pint-sized Amaterasu, to the <em>Animal Crossing</em>-like speech of the game's inhabitants, we're kinda feeling like the proprietors of <a href="http://www.cuteoverload.com">a very different web site</a> right now. We're trying our best not to <em>dawwwwww</em> all over the place.<br />
<br />
But we digress. You have yet to experience this feeling for yourself, so go ahead and check out the new media, straight from Comic-Con. If you'll excuse us, we're going to draw some kittens for a while. <br />

Epic is planning an extra XP event for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> that will coincide with next week's San Diego Comic-Con, tied to producer <a href="http://twitter.com/GearsViking/status/18496246853">Rod Fergusson's Twitter account</a> -- and designed to promote it, of course. The more followers he gets, the more XP gamers can earn during the upcoming event.<br />
<br />
It's the second massive XP handout the game has received over the last few weeks, the previous being the title's big July 4 promotion event. It's no surprise: with the game's flagging community, online woes and stiff competition, Epic's needed to come up with something to get players back.<br />
<br />

Sony isn't giving up on the not-expensive PSP-3000 series. In fact, <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/24/see-sonys-special-comic-con-psps/">Siliconera</a> spotted this special Green Lantern themed system at San Diego Comic-Con not too long ago. Inspired by the upcoming "First Flight" animated feature, this PSP-3000 stands out due to its unique glossy green color -- something you won't find on American retail shelves. Less exciting is Comic-Con's Caprica-themed PSP, if only because the idiotic "SyFy" brand stands so large on it. Yuck.<br />
<br />
While you may not be able to get this Green Lantern PSP any time soon (or ever), you can still get some free Green Lantern digital swag off the PlayStation Store. For a limited time, you can download a 16 minute sneak preview of the upcoming animated film on your PSP or PS3. And by "talks," we mean "briefly mentions." Yesterday during the <em>Halo</em> Comic-Con panel, which was almost entirely focused on the upcoming anime series, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-legends"><em>Halo Legends</em></a>, consummate <em>Halo</em> shepherd Frank O'Connor spoke about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/new-halo-waypoint-xbox-live-destination-launches-this-fall/">Waypoint</a> and what it means. "Halo Waypoint is something you can experience on your couch, then early next year, on DVD and digital formats. It will be the digital hub for all things <em>Halo</em>, [to] look at your Halo career, and enjoy your <em>Halo</em> lifestyle."<br /><br /><em>Halo</em> lifestyle? What does that even mean? An Xbox Live version of Home, where you're outfitting your own Master Chief's digital den with photos and Covenant couches? We'll have to wait and see.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/microsofts-frankie-talks-halo-waypoint/">Comic-Con 2009: Microsoft's Frankie talks Halo Waypoint </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Jul 2009 12:30:00 EST. The best screenshots don't just show off a game, they <em>teach </em>you something. For instance, from these new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lost-planet-2">Lost Planet 2</a> </em>screens that Capcom just dropped at ComiC-Con, we learned that we don't really have any <em>Lost Planet </em>experts on staff.<br /><br />So you'll have to bear with us if we don't know <em>exactly</em> what it is we're showing you. There's definitely a robot suit or two and ... are those trains in that one? Really hard-ass trains? It's anyone's guess. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lost-planet-2-7-23-09/">Lost Planet 2 (7/23/09)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lost-planet-2-7-23-09/#2162023"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/lp2_comiccon_screenshot01_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lost-planet-2-7-23-09/#2162024"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/lp2_comiccon_screenshot02_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lost-planet-2-7-23-09/#2162025"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/lp2_comiccon_screenshot03_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lost-planet-2-7-23-09/#2162026"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/lp2_comiccon_screenshot04_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lost-planet-2-7-23-09/#2162027"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/lp2_comiccon_screenshot05_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/comic-con-2009-new-lost-planet-2-screens-are-educational/">Comic-Con 2009: New Lost Planet 2 screens are educational</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 16:02:00 EST. If referencing one of the world's most popular online games on a regular basis doesn't give them enough "geek cred," cast members of the popular "internet TV show," <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/The-Guild/">The Guild</a></em>, will be on hand for a laundry list of events during this week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sdcc-2009/">San Diego Comic-Con</a>.<br /><br />Internet darling Felicia Day and other stars of <em>The Guild</em> are holding a panel discussion on Friday, July 24, at 10:30AM (Pacific), with promises of a sneak peak at season three of the show and an exclusive Comic-Con video. Festivities continue with The Guild panel signing autographs from noon until 1PM and conclude with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Game-with-Fame/">Game with Fame</a> session where <em>The Guild</em> cast will throw down in some hardcore <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Marvel-vs-Capcom-2/">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> action at 2PM.<br /> <br /> <em>The Guild</em>: <em>Season 3</em> is slated to hit Xbox Live this fall and our hearts <em>always.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/22/the-guild-scheduled-to-raid-comic-con/">'The Guild' scheduled to raid Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 07:00:00 EST. Mad Catz has created a set of exclusive <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> controllers, to be available only at the San Diego Comic-Con (July 23-26) in limited numbers (500 FightPads each for PlayStation 3 and Xbox, and 250 Tournament Edition <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/FightStick/">FightSticks</a> for each console). <br /><br />Both controllers feature a color scheme and artwork inspired by Sagat -- the art appears to represent his trademark scar. The FightStick features new details like Hadouken arrow diagrams on the joystick dust cover. It'll sell for $179.99 at the show, and for significantly more later on eBay. The FightPads will be available for $49.99.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-con-exclusive-street-fighter-iv-controllers/">Comic-Con Exclusive Street Fighter IV Controllers</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-con-exclusive-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#2155092"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/sfivcc07205_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-con-exclusive-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#2155091"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/sfivcc07204_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-con-exclusive-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#2155090"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/sfivcc07202_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-con-exclusive-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#2155089"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/sfivcc07206_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-con-exclusive-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#2155088"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/sfivcc07203_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/limited-edition-mad-catz-sfiv-controllers-available-at-comic-con/">Limited edition Mad Catz SFIV controllers available at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 16:45:00 EST. As if the opportunity to see hairy dudes dressed like their favorite female member of the Teen Titans wasn't tantalizing enough, we East Coasters have another reason to be sad for missing out on Comic-Con: Ubisoft announced today that it will hold an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed 2</em></a> panel during the event on July 23, featuring clips of some short films coming this holiday season based on the title.<br /><br />It's also the first public showing of gameplay, so if you've been dying to see it in action and in person, this is your chance. Just try not to sit too close to Mr. Miss Martian.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/ubisoft-holding-assassins-creed-2-panel-at-comic-con/">Ubisoft holding Assassin's Creed 2 panel at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 15:45:00 EST. The cooperative action game from Bionic Games will be out in North America on September 29. Originally announced at Capcom's Captivate '08 event, <em>Spyborgs</em> underwent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/05/capcom-spyborgs-undergoing-significant-overhaul/">major retooling</a>, becoming a bit less "kiddie"-looking in the process. As the new boxart shows (in full after the break), the game carries a T rating.<br /><br />If you're eager to try out <em>Spyborgs</em> before September, you still have a week to plan a trip to the San Diego Comic-Con, where Capcom will offer the first public demo, as well as some unspecified <em>Spyborgs</em>-related giveaways. At the moment, Capcom seems to be the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/become-a-shirt-zombie-with-this-resident-evil-the-darkside-chro/"><em>best reason</em></a> to attend Comic-Con.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spyborgs-wii/">Spyborgs (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spyborgs-wii/#2201025"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/spyborgs081209image4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spyborgs-wii/#2201024"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/spyborgs081209image3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spyborgs-wii/#2201023"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/spyborgs081209image2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spyborgs-wii/#2201022"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/spyborgs081209image1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spyborgs-wii/#1523997"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/cb05658ac6b51261c6a78e6ba9af9642_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/spyborgs-team-up-to-attack-retail-september-29/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Spyborgs team up to attack retail September 29</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/spyborgs-team-up-to-attack-retail-september-29/">Spyborgs team up to attack retail September 29</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Jul 2009 09:35:00 EST. Sega has confirmed its Comic-Con 2009 lineup, which will see the first appearance of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/sega-to-churn-out-iron-man-2/">Iron Man 2</a></em>. Hopefully, the new title, being developed internally by Sega, will avoid the first's <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/ironman?q=iron%20man">45 Metacritic</a> score.<br /><br />Beyond that, the company plans to show off <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/planet-51">Planet 51</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bayonetta/">Bayonetta</a></em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sonic-and-sega-all-stars-racing"><em>Sonic &amp; SEGA All-Stars Racing</em></a>. The booth number is 5229 and San Diego Comic-Con takes place next week, July 23-26. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/game-publishers-continue-takeover-of-san-diego-comic-con/#continued">Don't be shocked</a> by all the game companies in attendance.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/sega-reveals-comic-con-2009-lineup-iron-man-2-making-first-appe/">Sega reveals Comic-Con 2009 lineup; Iron Man 2 making first appearance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 21:30:00 EST. LucasArts has re-entered our hearts this week thanks to the company's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/discover-the-secret-of-monkey-island-again-on-july-15/"><em>Monkey Island</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/breaking-lucasarts-classics-coming-to-steam-this-wednesday/">retro</a> shenanigans. In fact, we'd almost completely forgotten that it created all those <em>Star Wars </em>games. But it has -- with one <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/star-wars-the-old-republic">very special</a> upcoming title in the works. <em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em> may not be the only <em>Star Wars </em>title in production though, if a recent announcement email regarding the company's San Diego Comic-Con schedule is to be believed. <br /><br />The email states that "there will be several world exclusive announcements at the <em>Star Wars</em> Spectacular keynote." Whether these are new game announcements or something new regarding <em>The Old Republic</em>, we've no idea, but we'll definitely be in attendance to see what's on offer. Best case scenario? Special edition remakes -- <em>Secret of Monkey Island</em> style -- of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_X-Wing"><em>X-Wing</em></a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_TIE_Fighter"><em>TIE Fighter</em></a>. Do want.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/lucasarts-several-world-exclusive-announcements-at-comic-con/">LucasArts: 'Several world exclusive announcements' at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 19:30:00 EST. <div align="center"> <font size="1"><em>Click image for larger dancing zombies</em></font><br /></div>
A red-hot press release just landed in our inbox, informing us that Valve will be on-hand at San Diego's Comic-Con to show off a new campaign in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead-2"><em>Left 4 Dead 2</em></a> titled "Swamp Fever." If you're at the show, the game is in the EA Gaming Lounge from 2-9 pm Thursday-Saturday, and 12-5 pm on Sunday, and can be found at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel, 401 K. Street. <br /><br />The above image is the only piece of media we received from the new campaign, but it's enough to cause wild speculation. Can we get struck by lightning? Do zombies like dancing in the rain? Have the undead found Jesus? We need answers! While we track someone down to find out, feel free to sup on our fresh, new screens in the gallery below. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/left-4-dead-2-07-10-09/">Left 4 Dead 2 (07/10/09)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/left-4-dead-2-07-10-09/#2137294"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/l4d2071009image6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/left-4-dead-2-07-10-09/#2137295"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/l4d2071009image7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/left-4-dead-2-07-10-09/#2137297"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/l4d2071009image8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/left-4-dead-2-07-10-09/#2137298"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/l4d2071009image9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/left-4-dead-2-07-10-09/#2137329"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/swampfeverl4d2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/10/valve-showing-off-left-4-dead-2s-swamp-fever-at-comic-con/">Valve showing off Left 4 Dead 2's 'Swamp Fever' at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Jul 2009 17:15:00 EST. <div align="left">So there's this contest going on at the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/07/03/create-a-comic-get-into-our-exclusive-comic-con-events-and-score-some-schwag/">PlayStation Blog</a>, but you needn't bother. As you can see above, we've already won. If you <em>insist</em> on trying your luck, you can find the comic template at the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/3685182684/sizes/l/">PlayStation Flickr account</a>. In order to win the prize, which is access to VIP events at Comic Con on July 22 &amp; 23, including hands-on time with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/a-crack-in-time"><em>Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time</em></a> and other games. <br /><br />Can't make it to Comic Con? There's still some schwag in it for you, so you may as well give it a go. Except we've already won, as we've said. Still, your entries will need to involve something to do with <strong>time </strong>and must be sent to <a href="mailto:rcfcomiccon@gmail.com">rcfcomiccon@gmail.com</a> by midnight, July 10. We're interested in seeing how the growing game publisher turnout will affect Comic-Con. The convention is already dominated by giant media companies, but, well, game publishers like Activision <em>really like</em> having giant, flashy showings at conventions. Seriously, Comic-Con, if you let these companies get comfortable, they <em>will</em> take over. Pretty soon, the <span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero</span> games will outnumber the furry cosplayers.<br /><br />To look at it from a more positive perspective, if you're going to Comic-Con, you're going to get to play some free video games. Also, we hope you got your tickets, because they're <span style="font-style: italic;">sold out</span>. We've pulled every game publisher we could find in the exhibitors list, and listed them for you after the break. The Pok&eacute;mon Company is on the list only because Nintendo wasn't, and there's a <em>chance</em> the Pok&eacute;mon booth will have games and not just merchandise.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/game-publishers-continue-takeover-of-san-diego-comic-con/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Game publishers continue takeover of San Diego Comic-Con</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/game-publishers-continue-takeover-of-san-diego-comic-con/">Game publishers continue takeover of San Diego Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Jun 2009 19:30:00 EST. If you're attending the <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/cci/index.php">San Diego Comic Con</a> and are a fan of all things <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a>, then you'll likely be excited to hear that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys R Us</a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mcfarlane-toys">McFarlane Toys</a> are <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=13570">teaming up</a> to sell the exclusive figure you see above during the show. Only 6,000 of these Grifball bad boys (or girls, because you really don't know who's under that 200 billion-dollar suit of armor) are being sold at the show, and you can grab your own for $15. We suggest making this a priority stop, as the figure features a<span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText"> Bomb, Gravity Hammer, </span><span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText">Recon armor, </span><span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText">and Sword Hilt</span>, with the latter two being pretty big deals in the world of spinning space rings, we hear. Also, 6,000 isn't a lot when you consider 126,000 people attended the show last year.<br /><br />San Diego Comic-Con goes down from July 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/">Griffball Spartan from McFarlane Toys</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474614"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_06_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474613"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_05_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474612"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_07_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474611"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_04_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474610"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_03_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/grab-your-own-grifball-spartan-at-san-diego-comic-con/">Grab your own Grifball Spartan at San Diego Comic Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 02:00:00 EST. <em>The Conduit</em> is a story of hype because it is a story of hope. Not the interactive story (that might be about hope, too), but the story of the game's development. We won't rehash the dramatic <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit/">rise to relevance</a> of High Voltage Software's labor of love, but we certainly thought about it as we played a section of the game at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nycc-2009/">New York Comic Con</a> this weekend. <em>The Conduit</em> has a publisher -- <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/29/the-conduit-finds-publishing-partner-in-sega/">finally</a> -- in Sega, but it is still cherished for its grass roots origin. Technically, this was very much the same game we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/06/joystiq-hands-on-the-conduit/">previewed</a> back in October, but we couldn't help but notice the change taking place as we blasted through an alien invasion inside Sega's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/new-york-comic-con-2009/1339279/">Comic Con booth</a>.<br /><br /><em>The Conduit</em> has made it -- acquired by a major third-party publisher. Its chapter as indie orphan is over. Now, on the verge of release, it competes with any other title that reaches store shelves. We may want to hold onto the sentiment of victory (the little guy making it to the big show), but the game <em>has</em> changed. We must consider <em>The Conduit</em> from a different perspective. In fact, dual perspectives: How does <em>The Conduit</em> rate as a Wii game; and how does it rate as a contemporary first-person shooter?<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/">The Conduit</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494339"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_177-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494338"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_210-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494337"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_180-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494336"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_164-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494335"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_435-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/08/nycc-09-the-conduit-revisited-hands-on-a-new-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NYCC 09: The Conduit revisited; hands on a 'new' game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/08/nycc-09-the-conduit-revisited-hands-on-a-new-game/">NYCC 09: The Conduit revisited; hands on a 'new' game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 08 Feb 2009 11:59:00 EST. Know this: <em>BattleForge</em> is <u><em>not</em></u> a trading card game. <em>BattleForge</em> is an RTS. Correction: It's an online RTS -- it's not playable offline. And so, when producer Sebastian Nell connected to the server for a hands-on demonstration on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nycc-2009/">New York Comic Con</a> show floor, the server temporarily went down, and we were left to chat in front of a blank screen.<br /> <br /><em>BattleForge</em> is still in an open beta testing phase, so we'll forgive the technical outage for now -- but surely this is a key issue that needs to be avoided after the official game launch. The other issue is the general misconception that <em>BattleForge</em> is a trading card game. It's true, traditional RTS units are represented as virtual cards in the game, and players command "decks" -- and "booster packs" (8 cards: 1 rare, 2 uncommon and 5 common cards) can be purchased for $2.50 from an online marketplace; cards can also be traded between players. Still, there aren't physical cards to be collected, and the trading card aspect is more bullet point than innovation.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/battleforge-1/">BattleForge</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/battleforge-1/#1340872"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/battleforge-2-7-09-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/battleforge-1/#1340871"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/battleforge-2-7-09-06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/battleforge-1/#1340870"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/battleforge-2-7-09-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/battleforge-1/#1340869"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/battleforge-2-7-09-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/battleforge-1/#1340868"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/battleforge-2-7-09-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/08/nycc-09-battleforge-hands-off-system-down/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NYCC 09: BattleForge hands-off / system-down</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/08/nycc-09-battleforge-hands-off-system-down/">NYCC 09: BattleForge hands-off / system-down</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 08 Feb 2009 09:57:00 EST. We learned a valuable lesson today: Don't judge a game by its ... <span style="font-style: italic;">name.</span> First <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/04/namco-bandai-unleashes-invincible-tiger-to-xbla-psn/">uncaged</a> earlier this week, <em>Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao</em> is the sort of hackneyed game title that simply can't survive in the brutal wilds of Joystiq.com. So, already composing the first kill strikes in our minds, we picked up an Xbox 360 gamepad and entered the <em>Tiger.</em><br /><br />First thought: Wow, this is kinda like <em>Kung-Fu Master</em> -- the venerable father of beat-em-ups. Next thought: No, this isn't like <em>Kung-Fu Master.</em> The level is a movie set, not side-scrolling, but stage-like, with vertical sections, props, and stunt areas. You don't move as an 8-bit <em>Master</em>, but as a fast and fluid 3D model: leaping, rolling, diving, flipping, kicking and splitting wigs.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/invincible-tiger-the-legend-of-han-tao/">Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/invincible-tiger-the-legend-of-han-tao/#1334242"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/invinctig-09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/invincible-tiger-the-legend-of-han-tao/#1334241"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/invinctig-08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/invincible-tiger-the-legend-of-han-tao/#1334240"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/invinctig-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/invincible-tiger-the-legend-of-han-tao/#1334239"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/invinctig-06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/invincible-tiger-the-legend-of-han-tao/#1334238"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/invinctig-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/07/nycc-09-invincible-tiger-hands-on-xbla/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NYCC 09: Invincible Tiger hands-on (XBLA)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/07/nycc-09-invincible-tiger-hands-on-xbla/">NYCC 09: Invincible Tiger hands-on (XBLA)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 07 Feb 2009 11:58:00 EST. "Everybody wants that," exclaimed <em>Splatterhouse</em> co-producer Mark Brown, responding to a question about the original 1988 beat-em-up's inclusion in the forthcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/splatterhouse-resurrected-for-next-gen-consoles/">franchise reboot</a>. "In one form, we're gonna deliver on it," concluded Brown, who was joined by writer Gordon Rennie in a design panel at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nycc-2009/">New York Comic Con</a> today.<br /> <br />Brown, who is producing the new <em>Splatterhouse</em> alongside Dan Tovar, called the original, the "crown jewel of the [Namco] back catalog," and confirmed the plan to bundle the classic arcade game (also ported to Turbografx-16 -- and now <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/19/excitebike-splatterhouse-beyond-oasis-join-virtual-console-lin/">on Virtual Console</a>) as an extra in the new game, perhaps as a "premium edition" bonus.<br /> <br /><em>Splatterhouse</em> is due out "later this year" -- Namco Bandai is targeting Q3 2009. The <a href="http://www.splatterhousegame.com/">official game site</a> has just gone live with a new trailer and screens. On a side note: <em>Splatterhouse</em> appears to be the first game to allow players to use their <em>own</em> severed limbs as weapons ... once their bloody stumps regenerate into new arms. <em>Confirmed.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/06/nycc-09-original-splatterhouse-included-in-reboot/">NYCC 09: Original Splatterhouse included in reboot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Feb 2009 21:15:00 EST.
