We get to tell people about the good games on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> like <em>Commando 3</em>, and, perhaps more importantly, warning them about bad games like <em>Frogger 2</em>. We won't go into details here (that's what the video is for, silly!), but suffice it to say that <em>Commando 3</em> is decent and <em>Frogger 2</em> ... isn't. Now available on the Xbox Live Arcade comes <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></em> from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> and Frogger 2 from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Konami/">Konami</a>--each priced at 800 MS Points. The token, weekly, omni-directional shooter <em>WotB: Commando 3</em> drops three selectable characters behind enemy lines tasked with saving prisoners of war and blowing up everything in sight. A reminder to potential buyers, purchasing <em>WotB: Commando 3</em> also includes future access to the beta test for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiithdr/">Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></em>.<br /><br /><em>Frogger 2</em> adds a much needed story mode to the classic hopping adventure that tackles such hot-button issues as high gas prices, world economy and wart control. At least part of the previous sentence is not accurate.<br /><br />

Confirming half of what we already knew, <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2008/06/09/froggercommandoxbla.aspx">Gamerscore Blog</a> dropped the news on this week's Xbox Live Arcade titles in an official press release this morning. Having already been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/commando-3-set-to-blast-the-xbla-next-week/">confirmed by Capcom</a>, shoot-em-up <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Commando-3/">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></em> will hit the Arcade, complete with <em>Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> beta access for purchasers, for 800 MS Points. Microsoft's internal blog also announced that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Frogger-2/">Frogger 2</a></em> will be available Xbox Live Arcade for 800 MS Points. An interesting pair to say the least. Check them out when they land online this Wednesday morning.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/09/xbla-this-week-commando-3-and-frogger-2/">XBLA this week: Commando 3 and Frogger 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Jun 2008 16:05:00 EST. Xbox Live Arcade, ever the service to indulge the inner <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/geometrywars">omni-directional shooter</a> fan we all obviously have, is getting another dose of run-one-direction-while-shooting-in-another this week - with an extra-special added bonus. <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em> (800 MS points) is just one of several Capcom retro resurrections hitting Live this year and provides a highly stylized new take (with three-player coop) on the arcade classics <em>Commando</em> and <em>Mercs</em>. Of course, that added bonus we spoke of is a "golden ticket" into the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> beta, which will be available for download on June 25 to anyone who purchases <em>Commando 3</em>. Is that a deal anyone can pass up, Ryu? "Sho-you-can't!"<br /><br />Wolves (or shooting) not your thing? Voltex (the developer, not a Ukranian pop star) has you covered in ah-dorable little frogs this week with <em>Frogger 2</em> (800 MS points). This spiritual successor to the coin-op classic (also available on XBLA) features new levels, new artwork, and what no XBL game can be without: a co-op mode (for up to four players, in this case). Capcom's <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em> will <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=146942%C2%A0">charge onto Xbox Live Arcade</a> next Wednesday. The game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/psn-thursday-novastrike-civ-rev-demo-commando-3-much-more/">released yesterday</a> on the North American PSN; however, the XBLA version, at 800 MS points ($10), will include an invite to the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a> </em>beta.<br /><br /><em>Commando 3</em> is a top-down shooter <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3-xbla-psn/">in the vein of classics like <em>Smash TV</em></a>. There's still no word of a release date for the game on the European PSN.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696435"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696434"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696433"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696432"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696431"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/commando-3-blasts-onto-xbla-next-week/">Commando 3 blasts onto XBLA next week, SSFIITHDR beta invite tags along</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jun 2008 14:45:00 EST. Big fat update this week. For starters, it's time for PS3 owners to jump in the pool and try out the <em>Civilization Revolution </em>demo. So far, our thoughts are positive, but conflicted. PC <em>Civilization</em> players will jump right in and notice some major changes, but will console gamers find joy in the methodical (yet incredibly streamlined) <em>Civ</em> gameplay?<br /><br />Enough thinking, what about some twitch action? The free <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/god-of-war-track-hits-ps3s-guitar-hero-iii-today/"><em>God of Wa</em>r theme for <em>GH III</em></a> is available today, along with the PSN's first game self-published by a developer, <em>Novastrike</em>. Also, storming <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/06/05/capcom-releases-commando-3-to-psn-one-week-early-teases-street/">out of left field</a> is <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em>. There's also a couple other nice additions in this week's update, so check it out after the break.<br /><br />The PS3 Fanboy's got your <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/06/05/european-psn-store-update-for-june-5th/">European PSN update</a> on their site, but be sure to bring chocolates. <p> Some PS3 fans were angry at Capcom when they announced <em>Commando 3</em> on XBLA will include a free beta for <em>Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> ... but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/15/capcom-explains-lack-of-ps3-street-fighter-ii-hd-beta/">not on PSN</a>. In Capcom's attempt to prove their loyalty to the PlayStation community, they're releasing <em>Commando 3</em> on PSN one week before the XBLA version. That means ... today.<br /><br />With the addition of <em>Commando 3</em> to today's lineup, this is going to be one of the best (and most expensive) Store updates ever. The downloadable title will be available for $10 when it launches in but a few hours.<br /><br />Also, Capcom's John Diamonon promises PlayStation fans that there will be some "cool stuff" for PlayStation fans of <em>Street Fighter</em>. What that entails, we don't know quite yet ... but it may very well be the key to earning some street cred amongst PS3 fans (read: this bonus better not be another port of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/capcom-announces-lost-planet-for-ps3/#comments"><em>Lost Planet</em></a>).</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/capcom-releases-commando-3-to-psn-one-week-early-teases-street/">Capcom releases Commando 3 to PSN one week early, teases Street Fighter 'cool stuff'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Jun 2008 16:30:00 EST. If it's anything like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/ps3-fanboy-review-rocketmen-axis-of-evil/"><em>Rocketmen: Axis of Evil</em></a>, another one of Capcom's adventurous arcade shooters for the PSN, then perhaps it might be a good idea pass this one up. The trailer above was entertaining though and does quite a good job at telling us what to expect from the game. <br /><br />However, and this is a big however, take a look at the closing title screen which is normally reserved for the game's logo and platform logos. Do you see any PS3 or PlayStation signs around? Yep, none. Assured, this game will be on the PSN, but why no love? Oh, that's right ... there's more footage after the <em>Commando 3</em> trailer. Let's see what happens. It's an ad for the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter/">Street Fighter II HD Remix</a> </em>beta that comes with <em>Commando 3</em>! Yipee! And perhaps, like us, you realize (before it's too late) that these impractical desires are best expressed in video games such as Sierra Online's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/AssaultHeroes/">Assault Heroes</a></em> or id Software's iconic <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Doom/">Doom</a></em>. It's certainly a lot cheaper.<br />
<br />
In fact, the two aforementioned games will be added to Xbox Live's <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/arcadehits/">Arcade Hits</a> program this Wednesday, March 19th, resulting in a 50% discount to 400 MS Points ($5) each. As Microsoft is keen to point out in the same press release, your determined point pinching may just come in handy for a lineup of new titles due to arrive on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> "in the near future:"<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/assault-heroes-doom-become-5-xbla-hits/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Doom, Assault Heroes become $5 XBLA Hits</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/assault-heroes-doom-become-5-xbla-hits/">Doom, Assault Heroes become $5 XBLA Hits</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 17:15:00 EST. Among the games listed in their "coming soon" checklist are <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rocky-and-bullwinkle">Rocky and Bullwinkle</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shotest-shogi">Shotest Shogi</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tiqal">TiQal</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wits-and-wagers">Wits &amp; Wagers</a></em> and Capcom's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></em>. So, you can pretty much choose one or two of those for an XBLA release next week. We're also giving you permission to uncontrollably complain if none of those five titles tickles your Arcade fancy. With the risk of sounding mean, Japanese companies rarely pay attention to their audience. At one point Sony execs refused to believe in <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/phil-harrison-blames-sony-japan-for-underestimating-social-gamin/">social gaming</a> and Nintendo thought <a href="http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/12/ken-kutaragi-cr.html">online play</a> was a fad but thankfully that mentality is changing. One company inparticular is attempting to reach out to gamers, in this age of social media, and that company is <a href="http://www.capcom.com">Capcom</a>. Recent announcements make us think that Capcom's latest mission statement is to focus on community feedback. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/influence-bionic-commando-rearmeds-price/">polling consumers</a> for the price-point of <em>Bionic Commando: Rearmed</em> and allowing gamers to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">beta test</a> the hottly anticipated <em>Street Fighter II HD Remix</em> (<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SSFIITHDR">SSFIITHDR</a></em> that is), Capcom's focus is pointed at what their fans want and think. It's a refreshing approach and gamers are taking notice.</p>
<p>Today we noticed the insane amount of footage that came out of Capcom's recent event, Capcom Digital Day. At the event Capcom showcased the upcoming pseudo-expansion <em>Lost Planet Colonies</em> and their upcoming library of XBLA releases. While <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bionic-commando-rearmed">Bionic Commando: Rearmed</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></em> and <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> were all known quantities, Capcom also showed of the HD remake of the classic top-down shooter <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/1942">1942</a></em> which was recently announced.</p>
Jump in for a breakdown of each of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">XBLA</a> games and a ton of video starting with the title Street Fighter fans will be clawing all over, for the beta that is, <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/capcom-digital-day-xbla-blowout/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Capcom Digital Day XBLA blowout!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/capcom-digital-day-xbla-blowout/">Capcom Digital Day XBLA blowout!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Mar 2008 12:00:00 EST. Capcom recently hosted a Gamer's Day for its upcoming digital distribution titles, all coming to PSN. Joystiq had a chance to get some hands-on time with the following titles:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-impressions-1942-joint-strike-xbla-psn/">1942: Joint Strike</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-plunder-xbla-psn-pc/">Plunder</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-street-fighter-ii-hd-xbla-psn/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3-xbla-psn/">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></li>
</ul>
It's great to see Capcom supporting downloadable tiltes as heavily as it is. Let's just hope their upcoming efforts are a bit more inspired than <em>Rocketmen: Axis of Evil</em>!<br /><br />

Call it another old-school <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/remake">remake/update</a>; <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em> will be out on XBLA and PSN this Spring. The angled, overhead shooter draws on its <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercs">MERCS</a> origins, bringing three-player destruction to those systems for $10 or 800 Microsoft Points.<br /><br />At a recent demo, I played the 360 version of the game. Controls felt good, with walking assigned to the left stick and shooting to the right. I lobbed grenades and launched super attacks with other buttons; the arsenal held my interest. Vehicles should be a big part of the game, too. In my demo, we drove in an armored truck, shooting from our different seats, and floated down a river raft. Hopefully the full game will feature lots of these breaks, since on-foot battles could grow monotonous.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696435"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696434"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696433"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696432"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3/#696431"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/commando-3-wolf-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3-xbla-psn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 (XBLA/PSN)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-wolf-of-the-battlefield-commando-3-xbla-psn/">Joystiq hands-on: Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 (XBLA/PSN)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 14:00:00 EST. Eventually the "<em>Halo 3</em> beta with a free copy of <em>Crackdown</em>" jokes out when <em>Crackdown</em> turned out to be a solid title. While we didn't think anyone would be brave enough to force another purchase on us in hopes to test an anticipated title, we were wrong.<br /><br />Today <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6187583.html?part=rss&amp;tag=gs_news&amp;subj=6187583">GameSpot</a> is reporting that Capcom has outlined plans to follow in Microsoft's shoes by offering a free beta key for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr/"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> to gold Xbox Live members who purchase, the recently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/commando-3-gets-a-name-change-again/">renamed</a>, <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em>. Upon spending 800 MS Points ($10) for <em>Commando 3</em>, eligible gamers will be able to take part in the stress test for approximately eight-weeks with access to two classic characters, Ryu and Ken.<br /><br />The test is scheduled to begin shortly after the release of <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em>, which hits this Spring. According to Capcom, tests are required to test latency issues for the upcoming XBLA fighting game. Based on Capcom's past of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/05/sf2-enthusiasm-starting-to-lag/">online fighting issues</a>, we think this test is warranted.<br /><br />[via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">Street Fighter II HD beta bundled with Commando 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Mar 2008 20:00:00 EST. It seems Capcom will be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/25/halo-3-beta-invite-guaranteed-in-every-copy-of-crackdown/">pulling a <em>Crackdown</em></a> with its upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/XBLA/">XBLA</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PSN/">PSN</a> game, <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/tag/commando-3"><em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em></a>. According to <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6187583.html?part=rss&amp;tag=gs_news&amp;subj=6187583">Gamespot</a>, the latest entry in the top-down shooter series will grant access to an Xbox Live beta of redone and redrawn brawler, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssf2hd"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>. Upon purchasing the game for 800 MS Points ($10), Gold members will be offered an access key for the fighter's stress test. It's expected to become playable shortly after <em>Commando</em>'s release and should last approximately eight weeks.<br /><br /><em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em> is due to arrive sometime in Spring.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">Street Fighter II HD beta bundled with Commando 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Mar 2008 17:30:00 EST. So, since the original name of the series is <em>Wolf of the Battlefield</em> in Japan, Capcom opted to go with <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 </em>for the XBLA release<em>.<br /><br /></em>Phew ... That explanation leaves us out of breath. Let's just hope Capcom releases <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 </em>before Activision drops new details on the upcoming <em>Wolfenstein </em>next-gen title.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/commando-3-gets-a-name-change-again/">Commando 3 gets a name change, again</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Mar 2008 13:30:00 EST. This time, we've gotten wind of the next installment of their <em>Commando</em> series, <em>Commando 3</em>. The title is going to be a downloadable game from the PSN and will be worked on by the same group who is responsible for <em>Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix Extreme Title Ultimate Fighter Time Gaming Fun</em>. <br /><br />Up to three players can blast around and shoot stuff up at once in the game, choosing between the characters of Animal, Smoke and Boomer. That is, a former marine, a covert-op, and an old dude who seems likely to explode. There will be power-ups, the 80's style "screen cleaning" bombs, and co-op vehicles to coordinate your skills with. We look forward to hearing some more about the game in the near future.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/capcom-announces-commando-3-for-psn/">Capcom announces Commando 3 for PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Oct 2007 10:15:00 EST. Better known as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercs"><em>MERCS</em></a> in the United States, <em>Commando</em> is a top down arcade shooter. <em>Commando 3</em> is set to feature 3 uniquely equipped characters as well as co-op vehicles. The game is being developed by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/backboneentertainment">Backbone</a> (they seem to make everything on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/XBLA/">XBLA</a>, don't they?) and is scheduled to release this winter for 800 MS Points. Naturally, it will support online leaderboards and the like, though online play has not been confirmed at this time. We're going to go out on a limb and say the feature is probably in there.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.orangelazarus.com/">Tony</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/18/xbla-to-get-commando-3-aka-mercs/">XBLA to get Commando 3 (AKA MERCS)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Oct 2007 16:45:00 EST.
