What <em>time</em> is it?! Well, <em>Adventure Time</em> obviously, but it's also <em>Regular Show </em>time and, most specifically, new games from WayForward time. The house responsible for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/adventure-time-hey-ice-king"><em>Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!!</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ducktales-remastered"><em>Ducktales: Remastered</em></a> has announced that it will be putting out two new games this fall based on what we believe to be Cartoon Network's most hilarious/magical franchises.<br />
<br />
<em>Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I don't know!</em> tasks players with exploring the Secret Royal Dungeon underneath the Candy Kingdom. The game features multiple selectable characters, including Finn, Jake, Marceline "and more," has co-op for up to four players <em>and</em> includes the voices from the show. <em>Adventure Time</em> creator <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendleton_Ward">Pendleton Ward</a> is once again involved in production, though his specific role is unknown. The game will be available on Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and 3DS.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, Mordecai and Rigby make their non-iOS gaming debut in <em>Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby In 8-Bit Land</em> for the 3DS. As the name suggests, our heroes must survive being transported inside of their favorite games, which sounds about right for an episode of <em>Regular Show</em>. The game is being developed "in close collaboration with show creator <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JG_Quintel">JG Quintel</a>," according to the <a href="http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20130514005667/en/D3Publisher-Cartoon-Network-Announce-Video-Games-Adventure">press release</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/new-adventure-time-regular-show-games-from-wayforward-this-fall/">New Adventure Time, Regular Show games from WayForward this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 19:45:00 EST. D3 Publisher is set to release <em>Earth Defense Force 2025</em> for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year, and the new gameplay video above shows off the many ways in which players can tear through insectoid alien hordes.<br /><br />A "heavy" unit type similar to the Battle Armor class in <em>Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon</em> makes an appearance, as does the jetpack-equipped Pale Wing class (seen recently in the PS Vita port of <em>Earth Defense Force 2017</em>). Other new stuff includes lock-on weaponry, a motorbike (with sidecar), and vehicles that seem better equipped - and hopefully sturdier - than the fragile craft featured in <em>EDF 2017</em>.<br /><br />The Japanese version of <em>Earth Defense Force 2025</em> will launch in July. A US release has been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/13/earth-defense-force-2025-begins-in-2013/">announced</a>, but a specific release date is not yet known.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/23/earth-defense-force-2025-video-showcases-vehicles-big-ol-bugs/">Earth Defense Force 2025 video showcases vehicles, big ol' bugs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Apr 2013 23:00:00 EST. This basically ruins our plans to drive around town blasting <a href="https://soundcloud.com/d3publisher/28-party-in-the-clouds-hey-ice?in=d3publisher/sets/adventure-time-hey-ice-king-ost"><em>Party in the Clouds</em></a>, but we'll take what we can get at this point.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/21/adventure-time-hey-ice-king-soundtrack-now-on-streaming/">Adventure Time: Hey Ice King soundtrack now on streaming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Dec 2012 02:30:00 EST. Brace yourselves, soldiers - <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-2017-portable"><em>Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable</em></a> will be available as a PS Vita download through PSN on January 8 in North America.<br /><br /><em>Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable</em> is a remake of the campy Xbox 360 original, in which a ragtag group of multi-national soldiers take on seemingly unrelenting hordes of alien bug invaders. It's a pretty easy story to grasp - the only good bug is <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOOOYo9vHzo">a dead bug</a>, after all.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2017-portable/">Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2017-portable/#5513167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/bmuploads2012-12-20843lazr-1972_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2017-portable/#5513168"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/bmuploads2012-12-2084411ce5e004512d84c324731441501004d-20120515-2055_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2017-portable/#5513169"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/bmuploads2012-12-2084511ce5e004512d84c324731441501004d-20120517-2401_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2017-portable/#5513170"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/bmuploads2012-12-2084611ce5e004512d84c324731441501004d-20120518-2567_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2017-portable/#5513171"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/bmuploads2012-12-2084711ce5e004512d84c324731441501004d-20120518-2574_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/20/earth-defense-force-2017-portable-lands-on-ps-vita-jan-8/">Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable lands on PS Vita Jan. 8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Dec 2012 18:15:00 EST. The PS3/Xbox 360 sequel <em>Earth Defense Force 4</em> is being localized for North America and Europe as <em>Earth Defense Force 2025</em>, for release in 2013.<br /><br />The previous console release in the series, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon">Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon</a></em>, was handed off to frequent D3 collaborator and Matt Hazard studio Vicious Cycle. But EDF 4 is the work of Sandlot, the developer who originated the series as a low-cost "Simple 2000" game for PS2.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2025/">Earth Defense Force 2025</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2025/#5498346"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/edf2025-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2025/#5498347"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/edf2025-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2025/#5498348"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/edf2025-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2025/#5498349"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/edf2025-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-2025/#5498350"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/12/edf2025-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/13/earth-defense-force-2025-begins-in-2013/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Earth Defense Force 2025 begins in 2013</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/13/earth-defense-force-2025-begins-in-2013/">Earth Defense Force 2025 begins in 2013</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Dec 2012 16:30:00 EST. Its adorable characters, hilarious dialogue and surprisingly complex and storied mythology set it apart from the vast majority of "children's" entertainment out there. Other programs like <em>Regular Show</em> may be roughly as funny, but <em>Adventure Time</em>'s contemporaries often lack its poignant subtext and stellar character development.<br /><br />Needless to say, I love <em>Adventure Time</em> dearly. So, when I first heard about WayForward's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/adventure-time-hey-ice-king"><em>Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!</em></a> for the DS and 3DS, my initial reaction was one of both joy and concern. I want there to be a game for my favorite cartoon, of course, but "portable game based on a Cartoon Network property" isn't usually a phrase that inspires confidence.<br /><br />Well, be confident. <em>Hey Ice King</em> isn't going to win any awards for innovative design, but the <em>soul</em> of the show is present in gratuitous quantities.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/adventure-time-hey-ice-king-whyd-you-steal-our-garbage-10-18-12/">Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! The hand-drawn rotoscoping has given way to a fully 3D presentation featuring designs by Jeff Matsuda, character designer for <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Batman_(TV_series)">The Batman</a></em> (and the iOS game <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/20/portabliss-age-of-monsters-rock-paper-scissors-ios/?icid=joystiq_age-of-monsters-rock-paper-scissors_art">Age of Monsters</a></em>).<br /><br />According to the Xbox listing, D3 Publisher has taken on publishing duties, and is planning to release it on November 14. We're checking with D3 to verify that information. There's currently no release window for EDF 2017 portable stateside. D3 Publisher didn't include that information, but did chant "EDF! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!</em></a> has popped up over at <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=16k-Adventure+Time+Hey+Ice+King+Why+d+you+steal+our">GameStop</a>, presumably as a retailer exclusive - we're checking on that. Both the 3DS and DS version toss in a custom stylus shaped like Finn's sword, Land of Ooo poster, steelbook packaging made to look like the Enchiridion (the handbook Finn is always lugging around) and an art book.<br /><br />It's a pretty significant package for $39.99. We've also inquired about a regular version, one that could possibly be cheaper and void of less awesome stuff.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/13/adventure-time-collectors-edition-spotted/">Adventure Time 'collector's edition' spotted</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jul 2012 23:25:00 EST. It looks like D3 Publisher is fixing on another round of bug destruction, as the Japanese publisher revealed a teaser site for a fourth entry in the series.<br /><br />Twitter user <a href="https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/223406828267110400">@Wario64</a> spotted the page, though little information beyond a game logo and a cheeky slogan are available thus far. Is it heading to North America and Europe? Which platforms is it for? When will it arrive? We're not sure just yet, but those are all fantastic questions (which we've put to D3). If you asked us what to expect from another <em>EDF</em> game, though, well ... bigger, prettier bugs, and uh ... more guns? Sure, let's go with that.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/12/d3-publisher-reveals-earth-defense-forces-4-with-japanese-teaser/">D3 Publisher reveals Earth Defense Forces 4 with Japanese teaser page</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jul 2012 10:45:00 EST. In addition, a Might and Delight spokesperson informs us that D3 is acting as a true "publishing partner" for <em>Pid</em>. <em>Pid </em>will be self-published on Steam and PSN.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pid-e3-2012/">Pid (E3 2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pid-e3-2012/#5078467"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/pide32012butler1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pid-e3-2012/#5078468"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/pide32012catacombs4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pid-e3-2012/#5078469"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/pide32012city5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pid-e3-2012/#5078470"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/pide32012factory3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pid-e3-2012/#5078471"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/pide32012shaft_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />Update: Added a note from D3, and a quote from Might and Delight, clarifying the relationship between the two.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/13/d3-publishing-pid-on-xbla/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>D3 publishing Pid on XBLA [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/13/d3-publishing-pid-on-xbla/">D3 publishing Pid on XBLA [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Jun 2012 19:30:00 EST. As far as western RPGs go, spiders and skeletons are pretty standard, run of the mill fare. JRPGs are usually a bit more creative, however, so it stands to reason that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/White-Knight-Chronicles-2">White Knight Chronicles 2</a></em>'s creepy-crawlies look a bit more <em>horrendous and surreal</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/11/white-knight-chronicles-2-concept-art-is-full-of-spiders-skelet/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>White Knight Chronicles 2 concept art is full of spiders, skeletons</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/11/white-knight-chronicles-2-concept-art-is-full-of-spiders-skelet/">White Knight Chronicles 2 concept art is full of spiders, skeletons</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 11 Sep 2011 12:30:00 EST. D3 Publisher is reportedly working on yet another <em>Onechanbara</em> game, the second for Xbox 360. <em>Onechanbara Z: Kagura </em>replaces the familiar cast of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/onechanbaras-other-zombie-slayers/">characters</a> (bikini-clad, katana-wielding Aya, her sister Saki, and cloned Reiko) with vampires named Kagura and Saaya. Don't worry; we're sure they'll be inappropriately dressed as well. We're sure the rest of the game will match up with what we know from the series: thousands of easily-killed zombies surrounding you at all times.<br />
<br />
The Xbox-exclusive game will be released in Japan this winter. An "<em>Onechanbara 2</em>" listing was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/onechanbara-2-listed-by-play-com/">found</a> earlier this summer on Play.com, suggesting that D3 is planning a western release as well. D3 is likely crunching to get it done as soon as possible, as it'll face competition from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/lollipop-chainsaw">another</a> "cute girl slashing zombies" game - one that has the potential to actually be good, instead of "so bad it's good."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/01/onechanbara-z-kagura-to-make-a-bloody-mess-on-xbox/">'Onechanbara Z: Kagura' to make a bloody mess on Xbox</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Sep 2011 02:00:00 EST. <img alt="White Knight Chronicles 2" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/whiteknightchroniheader.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 0px;" /></div>
Last year's <em>White Knight Chronicles</em>, developed by Level-5 and published by SCEA, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/04/review-white-knight-chronicles/">was a "surprisingly mediocre" RPG</a> with some interesting skill-up mechanics. That's probably why Sony passed on publishing the sequel in America this time around, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/07/d3-publisher-picks-up-white-knight-chronicles-2-for-north-americ/">D3 Publisher has picked up the reins</a>, and will be putting out <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/white-knight-chronicles-2"><em>White Knight Chronicles 2</em></a> (which will also contain the first game's International Edition on the very same disc) on September 13.<br />
<br />
Fortunately for series fans, improvements have been made. While the last game's battle system was occasionally slow and tedious, the sequel's attacks have been sped up a little bit -- not only do individual abilities charge and execute faster, but there are more ranged options and "charge" attacks, designed to get players in and out of battle quickly.<br />
<br />
That's not to say that the game necessarily plays significantly differently from the first title -- it really doesn't. But it is smoother, and the addition of some major customization features for the game's mech-like Incorruptus armor means that those who found something fun in the first game will probably be back for another round.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-0/">White Knight Chronicles 2 (8/21/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-0/#4382702"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/wkcii15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-0/#4382703"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/wkcii1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-0/#4382704"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/wkcii2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-0/#4382705"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/wkcii3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-0/#4382706"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/wkcii4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/white-knight-chronicles-2-preview-round-two-start/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>White Knight Chronicles 2 preview: Round two start</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/white-knight-chronicles-2-preview-round-two-start/">White Knight Chronicles 2 preview: Round two start</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Aug 2011 21:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/07/02/edf-insect-armageddon-out-now.aspx">Reports are coming in</a> that local GameStop stores have taken to selling the new <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon"><em>Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon</em></a> early this weekend. The title's not due out until Tuesday in North America, but we called our closest purveyor of giant ant-killing interactive entertainment, and sure enough, they confirmed it's available for the standard price of $39.99.<br />
<br />
As with all of these early release deals, your mileage may vary, so don't come bug us when a store near you says they still can't sell it until the release date. But all indications are that the launch date's been moved up, perhaps to take advantage of the holiday weekend. Because, you know, there's nothing more American than fireworks, BBQ, and destroying an army of huge insects?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/03/some-retailers-put-earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-out-ea/">Some retailers put Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon out early</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 03 Jul 2011 15:45:00 EST. Judging by a few quick shots in this trailer, we believe <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon"><em>Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon </em></a>might have destructible environments. By far the most random, obscure bit of news today: <em>Onechanbara 2</em> has been listed by UK retailer <a href="http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/20468453/Onechanbara-2/Product.html">Play.com</a> for Xbox 360, with a February 2012 launch date. The listing lacks any detail on whether this is some revamp of the 2005 <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_OneChanbara">PS2 title</a> featuring the same name or a follow-up to the Xbox 360 game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/onechanbara"><em>Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad</em></a>, released in 2009.<br />

Bugs don't have emotions. Bugs don't have a sense of right and wrong. All they know is that our delicious human bones are <em>delicious</em>. D3 Publisher has yet to share a specific North American launch date for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/white-knight-chronicles-2"><em>White Knight Chronicles 2</em></a>, keeping it in a nebulous "summer" window for now, but it <em>did</em> share a new trailer for Level-5's magical-Gundam-esque RPG. We've never heard a theme song that sounded <em>more</em> like <em>Phantasy Star Universe's </em>"<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ9GjltpObQ&amp;feature=related">Save This World</a>."<br />
<br />
Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is a very personal decision.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-e3-2011/">White Knight Chronicles 2 (E3 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-e3-2011/#4220871"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/wkc2ark-incorruptus-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-e3-2011/#4220872"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/wkc2ark-incorruptus-customization_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-e3-2011/#4220873"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/wkc2ark-incorruptus_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-e3-2011/#4220874"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/wkc2battle-vs-megalo-tigris_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-e3-2011/#4220875"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/wkc2battle-vs-treant_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/white-knight-chronicles-2-trailer-j-pops-out/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>White Knight Chronicles 2 trailer J-pops out</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/white-knight-chronicles-2-trailer-j-pops-out/">White Knight Chronicles 2 trailer J-pops out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Jun 2011 17:15:00 EST. Clearly, Nintendo wants the back half of your year to have a strong financial plan. In two lengthy lists we spotted on the company's press site, everything from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kirby-wii"><em>Kirby Wii</em></a> to <em>Pro Jumper! Chimaki's Hot Spring Tour Guilty Gear Tangent</em> was given a more clear release date, with Kirby arriving some time in fall and the latter mystifying DSiWare shopgoers on June 23.<br />
<br />
If one game starring a puffy pink monster just wasn't enough, how about one for your DS on September 19? 'Cause that's exactly when <em>Kirby Mass Attack</em> is launching. A whole mess of other release date/windows/seasons are categorized for your fiduciary planning needs, just beyond the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/12/nintendo-mass-announces-wii-ds-game-launch-dates/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo mass announces Wii, DS game launch dates</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/12/nintendo-mass-announces-wii-ds-game-launch-dates/">Nintendo mass announces Wii, DS game launch dates</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Jun 2011 16:00:00 EST. Okay, let's see if we can get this straight. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon"><em>Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon</em></a> is the first game in the series to be developed outside of Japan. As part of its promotion for the Western release of this game, D3 Publisher sent Western press (like us) the following <em>Japanese</em> trailer, which is <em>about</em> how the game was not made in Japan.<br />
<br />
It's <em>also</em> about shooting giant spiders, and luckily there are no language or cultural barriers there. EDF comes out in North America July 5, and, as the trailer says, July 7 in Japan.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/25/d3-imports-earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>D3 imports Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/25/d3-imports-earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-trailer/">D3 imports Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 May 2011 10:32:00 EST. And the errant Supercross champ and his game are heading straight to PSN and XBLA, this summer, in a game published by D3.<br />
<br />
2XL, made up of Rainbow Studios expats, has a background of working almost exclusively on motocross and offroad racing games, including <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/baja-edge-of-control"><em>Baja: Edge of Control</em></a>, 2XL <em>Supercross</em>, and <em>Ricky Carmichael's Motocross Matchup</em>. Also, <em>Cars: The Video Game.</em><br />
<br />
Specifics about <em>Jeremy McGrath's Offroad</em> will be revealed at -- not E3, but the Lucas Oil Off-road Racing Series event, in San Bernardino, CA on May 21 and 22.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/12/jeremy-mcgraths-offroad-and-on-psn-xbla-this-summer/">Jeremy McGrath's Offroad and on PSN, XBLA this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 May 2011 10:00:00 EST. D3 Publisher revealed today that its startlingly difficult 3DS shooter <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dream-trigger"><em>Dream Trigger 3D</em></a> now has an official release date: May 10. Mercifully, the publisher also provided two gameplay videos, which will <em>help</em> you figure out what's going on.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/21/dream-trigger-3d-becomes-a-reality-may-10/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dream Trigger 3D becomes a reality May 10</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/21/dream-trigger-3d-becomes-a-reality-may-10/">Dream Trigger 3D becomes a reality May 10</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Apr 2011 02:15:00 EST. <em>Puzzle Quest 2</em> is now 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Arcade. With a sequel that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/25/review-puzzle-quest-2-ds/#review">stands up to and surpasses the original</a> in many ways, it's actually a better buy at the same price as original <em>Puzzle Quest</em>.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, <em>Puzzle Quest</em> <em>Galactrix</em> is still 1600 Microsoft Points ($20) on XBLA. Nope, we can't explain it either.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/12/puzzle-quest-2-drops-to-10-on-xbla/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Puzzle Quest 2 drops to $10 on XBLA</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/12/puzzle-quest-2-drops-to-10-on-xbla/">Puzzle Quest 2 drops to $10 on XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Apr 2011 21:30:00 EST. Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/09/new-white-knight-chronicles-games-coming-to-europe-on-psp-and-ps/">announced</a> last month that it was publishing Level-5's<em> White Knight Chronicles 2</em> in Europe. The PS3 role-playing sequel is being released in North America as well, but by a somewhat lower-profile publisher: D3.<br />
<br />
The Namco Bandai subsidiary will release <em>White Knight Chronicles 2</em> in North America this summer, containing both the new game and a "remastered" version of the first White Knight Chronicles. <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/03/11/white-knight-chronicles-ii-lets-you-jump-skip-the-first-game-and-start-in-the-sequel/">Siliconera</a> notes that, while the Japanese version forced you to start from the very beginning if you didn't already have a clear save file (really!), the Western version allows you to start at <em>WKC2</em>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-ps3/">White Knight Chronicles 2 (PS3)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-ps3/#4036150"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/wkc24701_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-ps3/#4036151"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/wkc24702_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-ps3/#4036152"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/wkc24703_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-ps3/#4036153"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/wkc24704_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/white-knight-chronicles-2-ps3/#4036154"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/wkc24705_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/07/d3-publisher-picks-up-white-knight-chronicles-2-for-north-americ/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>D3 Publisher picks up White Knight Chronicles 2 for North America</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/07/d3-publisher-picks-up-white-knight-chronicles-2-for-north-americ/">D3 Publisher picks up White Knight Chronicles 2 for North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Apr 2011 20:30:00 EST. It's natural to worry about the new <em>Earth Defense Force</em> game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon"><em>Insect Armageddon</em></a>. D3 has taken the series away from developer Sandlot and handed it to a Western team, its own Vicious Cycle, best known for the <em>Matt Hazard</em> series. However -- and this works out in the new game's favor -- the <em>EDF</em> games were never technically <em>good</em> to start with. So if Vicious Cycle designed it <em>too</em> well, it would feel inauthentic.<br />
<br />
So far, it seems that the team has been good to the source material, making worthwhile changes and keeping what works, all in an engine that can actually keep up.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-gdc-2011-0/">Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon (GDC 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-gdc-2011-0/#3949627"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/edf3601-1299442336_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-gdc-2011-0/#3949628"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/edf3602-1299442338_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-gdc-2011-0/#3949629"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/edf3603-1299442342_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-gdc-2011-0/#3949630"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/edf3604-1299442347_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-gdc-2011-0/#3949631"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/edf3605-1299442351_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/edf-insect-armageddon-preview-bug-spray/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EDF Insect Armageddon preview: Bug spray</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/edf-insect-armageddon-preview-bug-spray/">EDF Insect Armageddon preview: Bug spray</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Mar 2011 06:00:00 EST. 	<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/06/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-preview-co-overboard/"><img alt="Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury---co-op-4_530x300.jpg" style="width: 530px; height: 300px;" /></a></em></div>
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/bangaio-hd-missile-fury"><em>Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury</em></a> feels a lot more like an Xbox 360 successor to <em>Bangai-O Spirits</em> than it did when I played it at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/18/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-preview-the-tension-is-getting-good/">TGS</a>. The demo available in Tokyo seemed a lot more straightforward, more "here are a bunch of enemies for you to shoot" -- in other words, more original Bangai-O -- than the cleverly-designed, semi-puzzle stage design that the DS game brought.<br />
<br />
But that was just the TGS demo. Most of the elements that made <em>Bangai-O Spirits</em> what it was have carried over into the XBLA game, with a few important changes. Perhaps the most notable change is the addition of multiplayer. You might not think putting one more thing (another player) on the screen in a game about filling the screen with objects would be a big deal, but it doubles the unfathomable insanity.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-co-op/">Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury (co-op)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-co-op/#3948992"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury---co-op-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-co-op/#3948993"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury---co-op-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-co-op/#3948994"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury---co-op-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-co-op/#3948995"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury---co-op-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-co-op/#3948996"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury---co-op-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/06/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-preview-co-overboard/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bangai-O HD Missile Fury preview: Co-overboard</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/06/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-preview-co-overboard/">Bangai-O HD Missile Fury preview: Co-overboard</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Mar 2011 11:30:00 EST. D3 Publisher's 3DS launch window title, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dream-trigger-3d"><em>Dream Trigger 3D</em></a>, takes the basics of bullet-hell shooters and scrambles them into something unexpected and even more difficult. Well, perhaps I should say it takes <em>a</em> basic of bullet-hell shooters: bullets all over the damn place. The rest is pretty much all new, and crazy.<br />
<br />
How crazy? <em>Dream Trigger</em> is a shooter in which you can't see the enemy ships, and in which you fire into the screen.<br />

You were spectacularly, <em>explosively</em> wrong. D3 Publisher sent out the first gameplay footage of <em>Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury</em> for XBLA today, and it promises to test the limits of your tolerance for exploding projectiles. In a good way. If you're not totally weary of bullets by the time you watch that, you might be able to handle the new screens in our gallery.<br />
<br />
And if you're still not satisfied you've seen enough stuff blowing up, well, the game is out this spring!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-2-11-11/">Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury (2/11/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-2-11-11/#3872206"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/bgo21101_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-2-11-11/#3872207"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/bgo21102_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-2-11-11/#3872208"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/bgo21103_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-2-11-11/#3872209"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/bgo21104_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-2-11-11/#3872210"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/bgo21105_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/11/bangai-o-hd-missile-furys-first-trailer-is-naturally-explosi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury's first trailer is (naturally) explosive</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/11/bangai-o-hd-missile-furys-first-trailer-is-naturally-explosi/">Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury's first trailer is (naturally) explosive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Feb 2011 20:00:00 EST. Today, the publisher finally shared the first screenshots of the Art Co. Ltd.-developed shooter and, well ... it's almost as hard to make sense of these screens as it was of <em>no screens</em>.<br />
<br />
The images reveal abstract, colorful backgrounds, ranging from glowing circles of unknown composition to some kind of circular city, all covered in diamond-shaped bullets. What looks like the "sonar" effect issues out in two beams from the player ship to locate enemies. With backgrounds like these, it's good you have some kind of tool to highlight the enemies.<br />

<br />
A free DLC pack headed to the Japanese PSN on February 10 adds costumes to make your characters look like Asbel and Cheria from <em>Tales of Graces</em> (the PS3 version of which was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/02/tales-of-graces-f-coming-soon-to-north-america/">just announced</a> for North America). The pack also comes with weapons based on the Soul Calibur and Soul Edge swords from the <em>Soul Calibur</em> series. Best of all, the DLC includes costumes based on <em>Taiko Drum Master</em>, which are way too bright and happy to be appropriate for the grotesque <em>Gods Eater Burst</em>.<br />
<br />
<em>Burst</em> arrives in North America this spring, but no announcements have been made about whether we'll be wielding the Soul Edge in our version.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/09/japanese-gods-eater-burst-dlc-includes-taiko-drum-master-tales/">Japanese Gods Eater Burst DLC includes Taiko Drum Master, Tales &amp; Soul Calibur items</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Feb 2011 06:25:00 EST. The first print run of the PSP remake will be available as the "Double Enlistment Pack," containing two UMD copies of the game -- in full retail packaging -- bundled together for &yen;6,279 ($76), a significant discount over buying two &yen;5,040 ($61) copies individually. It'll be out in Japan April 7.<br />
<br />
This is a great way to get a co-op game into the hands of a population that already has a bunch of PSPs and a taste for multiplayer on that system, thanks to <em>Monster Hunter</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/13/earth-defense-force-2-portable-being-released-as-two-pack-in-jap/">Earth Defense Force 2 Portable being released as two-pack in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Jan 2011 23:30:00 EST. You don't want to battle all those giant alien bugs alone, do you? As with every other Japanese-developed PSP game released since <em>Monster Hunter</em>, D3 Publisher is porting the <em>Earth Defense Force</em> franchise onto Sony's handheld -- and adding co-op, of course.<br />
<br />
<em><span>Earth Defense Force 2 Portable</span></em><span> is, predictably, a port of the original <em>Earth Defense Force 2</em> for PS2. In addition to the 71 missions included in the original, the PSP version will boast brand new missions. According to a translation by <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/12/24/edf_new_titles/">Andriasang</a>, all missions can be played with at least one friend over local wi-fi, as seen in the picture above. However, D3 hasn't confirmed if co-op can support any additional players. (We all know four is the magic number, right?)<br />
<br />
</span><em>EDF2P</em> is currently scheduled for a Spring release next year. Considering <em>Earth Defense Force</em> will be making <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon">an appearance</a> in the US on PS3 and Xbox 360, it seems possible that this handheld game will be localized as well.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/24/earth-defense-force-2-portable-swarms-psp-adds-co-op/">Earth Defense Force 2 Portable swarms PSP, adds co-op</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Dec 2010 11:30:00 EST. Before blasting enemies in the <a href="http://www.art95.com/">Art Co. Ltd.</a>-developed shooter, you must locate them using sonar. Then, when you do destroy them, they go away in "explosive 3D patterns." 3D also shows up in the "multi-layered environments." <br />
<br />
No screens have been released yet, so we'll all have to imagine that eye candy for now. And that's too bad, because we're intrigued by the idea of a sonar-based shmup and we'd like to see more. D3 also declined to offer any release date estimates for <em>Dream Trigger</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/15/dream-trigger-3ds/">D3 Publisher pings 3DS with 'Dream Trigger'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Dec 2010 09:46:00 EST. That's kind of a <em>bad sign</em>. We're taking the preponderance of jetpack-based action in the trailer, however, as a good sign. You can mute a game, but TV remotes don't have "add jetpack" buttons.<br />

First, the bad news: you won't be blowing up robots, houses, mines, and everything around you with bajillions of projectiles in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/bangaio-hd-missile-fury">Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury</a></em> this fall. D3 Publisher announced that the XBLA title has been delayed until spring.<br />
<br />
How can a delay be awesome? Developer Treasure is using the extra time to add multiplayer gameplay, including both cooperative and competitive modes. Despite <em>Bangai-O Spirits</em> on the DS having wireless local multiplayer capabilities, <em>Missile Fury</em> was originally announced without any. We suppose we can wait a few months if it means we can share <em>Bangai-O</em> with our friends. Find the statement from D3 after the break.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-xbla/">Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-xbla/#3376941"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgohd91801_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-xbla/#3376942"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgohd91802_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-xbla/#3376943"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgohd91803_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-xbla/#3376944"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgohd91804_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bangai-o-hd-missile-fury-xbla/#3376945"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgohd91805_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/04/bangai-o-hd-delayed-until-spring-treasure-adding-multiplayer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bangai-O HD delayed until spring, Treasure adding multiplayer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/04/bangai-o-hd-delayed-until-spring-treasure-adding-multiplayer/">Bangai-O HD delayed until spring, Treasure adding multiplayer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Oct 2010 15:07:00 EST. It also also gives us a good idea of what content has been added for the "Burst" version of the game.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/28/get-a-taste-of-god-eater-burst/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Get a taste of God Eater Burst</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/28/get-a-taste-of-god-eater-burst/">Get a taste of God Eater Burst</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Sep 2010 09:45:00 EST. The tiny amount of media released by D3 so far, including a teaser trailer after the break, suggests that this new game has a lot in common with its predecessors: specifically, big insectoid monsters destroying a city, and a team of futuristic soldiers shooting them.<br />
<br />
However, we know it's not exactly like previous <em>EDF</em> games, in one important and troubling way. All the previous <em>EDFs</em> have been developed by Sandlot, but this one is in the hands of <em>Eat Lead</em> developer Vicious Cycle Software -- which adds an element of "waiting and seeing" to our anticipation for this sequel.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon/">Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon/#3375466"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/57edfxbox360564x768_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon/#3375467"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/58edfps3609x768_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon/#3375470"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/edfinsect-attack1024x576_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon/#3375471"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/edfjet-armor1024x576_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon/#3375472"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/edfialogocomp291024x338_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/21/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-video-crawls-out/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon video crawls out</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/21/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-video-crawls-out/">Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon video crawls out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Sep 2010 00:30:00 EST.
