This brand new E3 trailer from LucasArts for Force Unleashed 2 shows the game's protagonist Starkiller getting betrayed by ol' helmethead yet again, and then lightsaber slicing and dicing his way out of a whole heap of space trouble.

We already knew that Starkiller would be dual-wielding lightsabers in the game, and while this trailer is vague to say the least, it does hint at why we're seeing him whole and hale again, instead of the (spoiler) less-than-lively state we saw him in at the end of the last game. Looks like it's an Attack of the Clones all over again. At least that force power looks fun -- hopefully we'll see more at E3 next week. Watch the whole thing after the jump.

With the economy the way it is, even Sith Lords are having to work second jobs. Take Darth Vader here, who's moonlighting as the absolute coolest Wii sensor bar holder ever. (We're sure his supervisor will say something similar on his quarterly performance report.)

You can hire Lord Vader for the sum of $49.99 from the official Star Wars Shop website, and he'll drop out of hyperspace (a.k.a. arriving via FedEx) sometime in November. Just be forewarned that his heavy breathing might ruin the atmosphere during those quiet, extremely tense gaming moments. But hey -- as much as old "Iron Lung Ani" needs the work, nobody's Forcing you to hire him.

It seems when Namco Bandai told us Darth Vader and Yoda would remain trapped in their respective console domains, it was only true ... from a certain point of view. The company has shockingly confirmed that, due to "overwhelming fan response," those suspiciously blank character portraits in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Soulcalibur IV will soon be filled in by a downloadable Darth Vader or Yoda. Good job, fans, we're sure Namco would never have figured out how to make money like this on its own.

The proper Star Wars showdown will begin on October 23rd, provided you're willing to pay 400 and $5 for a hyperventilating throat crusher and his little green friend, respectively. And just so we can work in another tedious reference, we'll add: We pray Namco doesn't alter the deal any further. Good one, us!

SHOCK! Namco Bandai has just announced that Xbox 360's exclusive Soulcalibur IV character, Yoda, will be available as DLC on the PS3. We totally didn't see this coming.

The DLC pack will be available next Thursday, October 23rd, and will cost $4.99. Xbox 360 owners will be able to access the PS3-exclusive character, Darth Vader, for 400 Microsoft Points.

It looks like we should've taken those book sales as an indication of how hungry Star Wars fans were for something new. The latest game to bear the Star Wars name, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, has managed to sell a whopping 1.5 million copies in its first 5 days on shelves. The Force is strong with ... uh, yeah. Sorry.

Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts, didn't expect such high numbers, apparently. "We're blown away by the response to the game." So, how many of you picked up the game? Did it blow you away or have you found it to be sub-par?

What's wrong with this picture? It directly contradicts what Soul Calibur IV director Katsutoshi Sasaki said in a recent interview, that's what. Specifically, Sasaki responded "we don't have any plans for that" when asked by XCN if we'd ever see both characters from a galaxy far, far away battling each other on the same console.

You can't get much more official than the game's director, but his comments don't explain screenshots (such as the one above) and video that have appeared on the net clearly (and seemingly authentically) showing both Yoda and Vader in the same version of SCIV. We can't help but think Sasaki is practicing his Jedi mind tricks on us with this one.

If Katsutoshi Sasaki, the director of Soulcalibur IV, is to be believed, there will be no Yoda in the form of DLC in the PS3 version. There won't be a Vader DLC for the 360 version, for that matter.

The interview in MSXBox World contains mostly questions about the Xbox 360 version, but when asked "will there ever be a time when we can have Darth Vader and Yoda on the same console?" Sasaki gave a clear reply of "we don't have any plans for that." The interview is dated August 31st, 2008, but we are going to assume it is from July 31st.

This is contrary to earlier reports on the official Korean PlayStation site claiming Yoda will be available for download from the PSN. And videos like this certainly won't help douse those rumors.

Over the weekend, a video of Darth Vader and Yoda fighting each other in Soulcalibur IV was leaked onto the internet (and then it was subsequently pulled). Currently, Darth Vader lives only on the PS3 version, while Yoda lives only on the Xbox 360 version. Could Namco Bandai be planning DLC which unlocks the famed Star Wars characters in both versions? It would make a lot of sense, wouldn't it?

According to the Korean PlayStation site, Yoda will be available for download from the PSN. That sounds like DLC to us. While Namco Bandai hasn't confirmed anything yet, we wouldn't be surprised if Yoda (and who knows what other characters) ended up appearing in Soulcalibur IV.

Never mind that we totally caught Yoda and Vader face to face in a Soul Calibur IV trailer months ago, Namco Bandai's official line has remained: Yoda is in the Xbox 360 version, Darth Vader in the PlayStation 3 one. While some of us assumed both characters could be unlocked in either version (except Ludwig, he pre-ordered both editions just to be safe), Namco Bandai has apparently come up with a better idea. Why not sell Darth Vader as DLC to Xbox 360 owners? (And presumably, why not pimp out Yoda to PS3 players?)

GamersReports has allegedly obtained another "quality exclusive" in three screenshots that depict Vader as a selectable character in the Xbox 360 version of Soul Calibur IV. To be fair, the report only suggests that Vader would be offered as an "add-on download" and does not specify whether or not that would be paid content or a fan service freebie. The site adds, "No word on when, or even if ever it will be released." Oh the suspense!

Fighting game characters have long been accompanied by their own personal arenas, and that's proving true for the Star Wars combatants appearing in Soul Calibur IV. The game was on display at the recent Anime Expo 2008, where attendees got a first glimpse at a fighting ground from a galaxy far, far away.

In this particular case, it's Darth Vader's stomping (and lightsaber-ing) ground: the docking bay of an Imperial Star Destroyer. No sign of Yoda's yet, but we're hoping for Degobah, the Jedi Council chambers, or Frank Oz's dressing room.

After watching the above, almost uncomfortably rad trailer for Soul Calibur IV, we're ready to make a proclamation. If you can watch Darth Vader and Yoda killing dudes and you don't melt, even just a little, then your heart is made of iron and we're revoking your geek badge. Please, just go. Leave your Cheeto-dust-stained Battlestar Galactica T-shirt with Beverly on your way out.

For those of your still with us, isn't it a little unnerving to see someone hit with a lightsaber and not be turned into person fractions? We hope the game includes a "Real World" mode where the fight begins, Yoda casually mentions that he's a Jedi and Mitsurugi puts his own sword in his belly just to save time.

...And yes, we just referred to a world including Yoda and Mitsurugi as the "real world." Please keep the snickers to a minimum.

You all probably know that we're already sold on the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from LucasArts. Upon its inception, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has been a title mostly about displaying the destructive power of the force and explaining the origins of Darth Vader's apprentice. Oh, and there has been the dream of every fanboy to wield the Wiimote as a lightsaber.

Now, it turns out there is more incentive for Wiimote-swinging wannabes as it's been revealed by Krome Studios' Ed Tucker that the title will have five exclusive levels on the Wii. "On the Wii we have places where the story veers off and we go and explore something, take the game in a different direction, like the Jedi Temple level," he explains.

Wii owners looking to lose control with the Force can look forward to that come this August when the title releases.

Soul Calibur IV director Katsutoshi Sasaki describes forthcoming guest appearances by Darth Vader and Yoda in the Soul Calibur universe as an obvious choice in this video interview with GameTrailers. Considering that Sasaki makes it clear that his games are built for "the consumers," we're starting to understand his brand of logic. Forget that Star Wars is set in a galaxy far, far away from the fantasy world of the Soul series. Rather, focus on Star Wars as one of the most profitable IPs of all time, and you can see why developer Project Soul gladly invited this force into its game - "naturally."

We were all in for quite a shock when it was revealed that Darth Vader would be entering the tournament in SoulCalibur IV exclusively on the PS3. Now that the shock has worn away a little and we've had a chance to catch our breath, here comes a nice interview with the game's director Katsutoshi Sasaki, who talks about a myriad of topics ranging from the evolution of the game's ring outs to why the team included Star Wars' most popular character.

To be perfectly honest, we were sold on the game after Ivy was *ahem* revealed, but with the newest addition and everything Sasaki said, we think we're starting to feel like those Star Wars guys who wait in line weeks to watch a new episode.

Dear lord. We went to bed knowing that Darth Vader and Yoda were showing up in Soul Calibur IV (Yoda is apparently 360 exclusive by the way, whereas Darth joins the Dark Side PS3). That alone was very disturbing. All night we had unsettling dreams about the effects of Force powers on inordinately large breasts. And now we have this, a trailer showcasing them both. Honestly, if someone from Namco Bandai burst through the wall of Fanboy Towers right now screaming "Gotcha!" we wouldn't be surprised. After witnessing some hefty hoaxes and jokes over the years, making this a little hard to swallow, but we're doing our best. Alas, you won't actually see Yoda or Darth doing any fighting, but at least you can see them in motion. On a side note, the game is looking great. Check out the video and see what you think. Is it April already? A quick glance at our calendars confirms that it's still January, and an extended glance at 1UP's reveal of Soul Calibur IV's secret characters does nothing to evaporate the reigning feeling of utter confusion. The lineup of saucer-eyed assassins, scantily clad combatants and bizarre pain fetishists in Namco's anticipated fighter is set to be joined by the Sith's darkest lord and the Force's most diminutive master. Our little green friend can almost manage to fit in to Soul Calibur's ye olde fantasy trappings, but poor ol' Vader appears to have gotten lost and disoriented after leaping over some sharks on his space jet ski.

Even better news can be found in 1UP's suspicion that even more Star Wars characters will waltz into Calibur's cantina, possibly via downloadable content. An interesting idea, but we reckon you'd save money by simply buying a copy of Masters of Teräs Käsi off eBay.

Update: Gamespot reports that Darth Vader is reserved for the PlayStation 3, while Yoda will be included in the Xbox 360 version.

Yes, this is quite possibly the strangest gaming news we've heard of in a while. Star Wars characters Darth Vader and Yoda have joined Namco Bandai's PS3 fighter, Soulcalibur IV. We could possibly write something funny to describe this situation, but we're confident that you guys will do much better than us.

The franchise has been home to other non-canon characters, such as Link from The Legend of Zelda. What do you think about this Lucas-flavored addition to this fighter?

This Wii, currently being auctioned on eBay, comes in a black shell and features a chrome-finish stand and a Darth Vader picture on the side. It includes two black Wiimotes and two black Nunchuks. It was one of four made to promote Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. In short, it is brimming with collectibility. Or it would be if we knew it was real.

The provided pictures are clearly Photoshopped, unless what we thought was a chrome stand is actually printed with a close-up picture of a couch. Furthermore, the Wiimote pictured is an old prototype with "x" and "y" buttons and no speaker. Also, troublingly, the name of the promoted game is incorrectly written as Unleash the Force. We think we'd need a little more reassurance before we dropped $15,000 on this system.

Oh, did we mention that it's fifteen thousand dollars? Because it is. Fifteen thousand dollars.

It seems the Tokyo Game Show's intense draw extends beyond international borders and well into intergalactic, fictional universes, a fact highlighted by Saturday's arrival of one Darth Vader. The force-choking, emperor-dunking Jedi was seen leading an imperial march through the show floor, glaring intensely at cosplayers and scolding his accompanying stormtroopers for being unable to complete the Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles demo.

When quizzed about his favorite games at the show, Mr. Vader blamed Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon for putting something resembling a smile on his horribly scarred face. He also noted disappointment in the response of Japanese gamers to Halo 3's "Believe" marketing campaign, describing their lack of faith as "disturbing."
