If so, then we've got news for you. Gamertag Radio was recently invited to EA's Medal of Honor: Airborne summit. While there, Godfree and plenty of other Xbox 360 community members got a chance to train for actual parachute drops as well as play Airborne with members of the real 82nd Airborne. Oh, and GTR also scored 10 copies of the game to give away. For video and audio of the event, as well as your shot at a free copy of Medal of Honor: Airborne, hit the "Read" link.
Win Medal Of Honor: Airborne from GTR originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 01 Aug 2007 14:45:00 EST. The biggest difference between Airborne and its predecessors is that players begin levels in the air and can parachute down anywhere in the battle. This creates very non-linear gameplay as any angle, objective or tactic can be accomplished any way the player chooses. Gilmore also talks up the game's weapon upgrades and artificial intelligence dubbed "Affordance A.I." which was created to accommodate such non-linear player involvement and acts realistically to attacking and defending from every angle. All of this "innovation" sounds very satisfying and different, but we'll have to check out all the parachuting fun in August before we can label MoH: Airborne teh greatness.
MoH: Airborne to offer very non-linear gameplay originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 24 Jul 2007 12:45:00 EST. Though originally though to be released August 28 across all three platforms -- Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 -- Medal of Honor: Airborne won't be landing on Sony's console until months later.

Gamespot noticed a brief addendum on the bottom of yesterday's press release announcing Michael Giacchino as the game's composer that stated the PS3 version would arrive in November. A previous trailer for the game, embedded after the break, gave the release date August 28 and implied that it was identical across all three platforms.

No reason was cited for the delay. The game appears to still be on track for an August 28 release in North America (August 24 in Europe) for Xbox 360 and PC owners.
Continue reading Medal of Honor: Airborne PS3 delayed until November

Medal of Honor: Airborne PS3 delayed until November originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 06 Jul 2007 12:21:00 EST. By ways of CNN's Game Over column, analyst P.J. McNealy has asserted that 2007's Medal of Honor would be the first game to benefit from EA's adoption of Unreal Engine 3, with an unannounced title, Dead Space, to follow after. The latter game is likely not based on the office block that developed Rise of the Imperfects.

The rest of the column ponders the fate of RenderWare, the widely used middleware engine that EA obtained along with their purchase of Criterion just over two years ago. Apart from the obvious benefit of having Burnout in the stable, EA initially stated that they intended to use an updated version of the engine for next-gen products, none of which have so far managed to materialize (Burnout Revenge for the Xbox 360 was mostly a port, after all). While it's conceivable that RenderWare has since been surpassed by Epic's technology, Mark Rein gives a far more reasonable explanation (yes, really) in an interview with FiringSquad.

He suggests that "it comes down to smart resource management" and that EA is merely picking the best engine for the job. Unreal Engine 3 would presumably save them time and money for specific games and could be used in conjunction with their in-house tools. Apparently, you can never have too many engines at your disposal. Perhaps a good question to ask would be: how important is the graphics engine to you? Are you more likely to play a game knowing that it uses Source or Unreal, or is the visual end result the only thing that matters (besides that gameplay thing)?

Read - EA's Engine Acquisition examined
Read - Mark Rein on EA's adoption of Unreal
Money guy says next MoH uses Unreal engine originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 22 Aug 2006 20:25:00 EST. I have not had the luxury of checking it out yet so, somebody get busy describing it in the comments. Why haven't I gotten it yet, you say?
