 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fatal-frame-2"><em>Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly</em></a> will <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/02/fatal-frame-2-hits-psn-tuesday-series-director-speaks/">arrive on PlayStation Network</a> next Tuesday. Upping the ante on the original <em>Fatal Frame</em>'s haunted mansion, <em>Fatal Frame 2</em> stars a pair of twins investigating an entire haunted village. The series' trademark Camera Obscura returns, allowing players to exorcise evil, terrifying spirits merely by taking their picture. The catch: The closer the ghost is, the more damage it takes and the more points you get for upgrading the camera.<br />
<br />
In other words, if you want to be really good at Fatal Frame, you'll have to be willing to scare yourself as much as possible. The original <em>Fatal Frame</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/07/fatal-frame-snaps-a-selfie-on-psn-this-week/">came to PSN last month</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/02/fatal-frame-2-comes-into-focus-on-psn-next-week/">Fatal Frame 2 comes into focus on PSN next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 May 2013 16:15:00 EST. Nintendo apparently added Tecmo's spooktacular franchise to its list of copyrights. Furthermore, it appears that Nintendo wholly owns the IP for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/spirit-camera-the-cursed-memoir-review/"><em>Spirit Camera</em></a>, the Fatal Frame spin-off recently released on the 3DS. The company also has ownership and publishing rights for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/project-zero-2-fatal-frame-2-to-terrify-european-wii-owners/"><em>Project Zero 2: Wii Edition</em></a>, which is slated to hit Europe later this year (still no North American announcement for that one).<br /><br />Nintendo has been tied to the Fatal Frame series for a few years now, publishing the two Fatal Frame games mentioned above as well as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fatal-frame-4"><em>Fatal Frame 4</em></a>, which was never released outside of Japan. Given Nintendo's penchant for extra screens, and Fatal Frame's reliance on capturing ghosts with cameras, the partnership makes sense. Now just give us one on the Wii U, please.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/22/report-nintendo-now-co-owns-fatal-frame-ip/">Report: Nintendo now co-owns Fatal Frame IP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jun 2012 13:40:00 EST. We don't have many other details, the press release states rather simply that, along with <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/spirit-camera-the-cursed-memoir"><em>Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir</em></a>, <em>Project Zero 2: Wii Edition</em> "will be coming to Europe." The remake was announced for Japan <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/new-rhythm-heaven-fatal-frame-games-announced-for-wii/">back in 2010</a>.<br /><br />The release doesn't specify whether the game will see a North American release as well. <em>Spirit Camera</em>, a Fatal Frame spinoff, has already been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/17/fatal-frame-spinoff-spirit-camera-the-cursed-memoir-chills-3ds/">confirmed for North America</a>, so hopefully we'll have a Fatal Frame 2 announcement before too long. And, uh, since we're on the subject, how about a little <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/08/fatal-frame-iv-unlikely-to-scare-up-american-release/"><em>Fatal Frame 4</em></a>, Nintendo? <em>Pleeease</em>?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fatal-frame-2011-wii/">Fatal Frame (2011) (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fatal-frame-2011-wii/#3412919"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/img9-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fatal-frame-2011-wii/#3412920"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/img9-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fatal-frame-2011-wii/#3412921"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/img9-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fatal-frame-2011-wii/#3412922"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/img9-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fatal-frame-2011-wii/#3412923"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/img9-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/project-zero-2-fatal-frame-2-to-terrify-european-wii-owners/">Project Zero 2 (Fatal Frame 2) to terrify European Wii owners</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 15:45:00 EST. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly is a slow-paced freak fest, that isn't interested in thrilling players with over-the-top gore or zombie-capping action. No, in fact the only weapon at your disposal is a camera. And as a pre-teen twin girl, you're not exactly the leading candidate for kicking ghostly-ass. "If you love movies like The Ring and want a truly creepy experience, this is your game"(IGN). Just be sure you're close to a light switch...</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2004/10/20/fatal-frame-ii-directors-cut-is-just-plain-scary/">Fatal Frame II - Director's Cut is just plain scary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Oct 2004 10:45:00 EST.
