Developed by Eighting (the team behind <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tatsunoko-Vs-Capcom/">Tatsunoko Vs Capcom</a></em>), <em>Fate/Unlimited Codes</em> is a fighter specifically designed for the PSP Go, based on a popular Japanese anime franchise.<br /> <br /> Originally a PlayStation 2 title in Japan in 2008, <em>Fate/Unlimited Codes</em> has been available for the PSP in the Far East since June, but the pseudo-3D fighter hopes to make a splash when it lands on North American and European shores next week. The story of <em>Fate/Unlimited Codes</em> goes like this: Seven masters and servants battle for control of a small Japanese town's "Holy Grail," which can grant the winner anything they wish. What would we wish for? For it to be September 3, so we can get our hands on Capcom's latest. Oh, and a pony!<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/29/capcom-rolls-out-fate-unlimited-codes-on-psn-next-week/">Capcom rolls out Fate/Unlimited Codes on PSN next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Aug 2009 17:00:00 EST. Considering PSN releases materialize on Thursdays, our money's on Sept. 3 or Sept. 10 -- but don't quote us on that!<br /><br />In case you're interested, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/capcom-bringing-fate-unlimited-codes-to-us-as-psn-exclusive/">download-only title</a> will run you $29.99. Then again, we bet you aren't that interested. In fact, we're pretty sure you're reading this because you did a Google search for "cartoon porn," in which case, <em>shame on you</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/fate-unlimited-codes-coming-to-psn-early-september/">Fate/Unlimited Codes coming to PSN 'early September'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 16:15:00 EST. But that doesn't mean the publisher is abandoning UMD. The Capcom Europe rep who confirmed the European release of the game to <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/34107/Capcom-confirms-digital-PSP-title-for-Europe">MCV</a> also said, "We certainly do not intend to stop supporting UMD." The representative went on to say, "Certainly for us PSP is very important - more so with <em>Monster Hunter</em> coming - than maybe any other publisher." Of course, Capcom may have to end up dropping UMD if <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/rumor-1up-reveals-details-of-next-psp-called-psp-go/">Sony does</a>.<br /><br />It's no surprise that Capcom would be hesitant to do <em>anything</em> to downplay the upcoming release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter-freedom-unite"><em>Monster Hunter Freedom Unite</em></a>, including speak ill of its <em>format</em>. It was the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/monster-seller-3-million-copies-of-monster-hunter-portable-2nd/">best-selling game</a> in Japan last year, and thus is probably pretty important to Capcom.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/29/fate-unlimited-codes-also-download-only-in-europe-but-capcom-is/">Fate/unlimited codes also download-only in Europe, but Capcom isn't giving up on UMD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Apr 2009 10:25:00 EST. Following the footsteps of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/patapon-2s-retail-box-revealed/"><em>Patapon 2</em></a>, Capcom has announced that its upcoming release of <em>Fate/Unlimited Codes</em> will be digital only. Coming to the PlayStation Store this winter, this fighter will be available for download for $29.99.<br /><br />We're a bit <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/fate-unlimited-codes-another-psp-fighter-you-wont-play/">surprised</a> by this news, considering the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/05/capcom-adapts-hentai-into-new-fighting-game/">bizarre origins</a> of the <em>Fate</em> series. The franchise has expanded to a number of mediums, but it originally started as an adult visual novel. (That's a classier way of saying "animated porn," folks.) Don't expect anything too risque in the PSP game though -- it's rated T for Teen.<br /><br />To check out all our previous coverage of the Japanese version of <em>Fate</em>, click <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fate/">here</a>.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/capcom-bringing-fate-unlimited-codes-to-us-as-psn-exclusive/">Capcom bringing Fate/Unlimited Codes to US as PSN-exclusive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Apr 2009 17:00:00 EST. Capcom continues churning out the <em>Fate</em> games on PSP. <em>Fate/Unlimited Codes</em> is a PSP port of the arcade (and PS2) game that released in Japan not too long ago. The PSP version of the fighter will have new features, like "Reflect Dash" and new costumes. No Infrastructure play as usual, but it will feature Ad-Hoc.<br /><br />For more screenshots and details, check out <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/02/13/fateunlimited-codes-going-portable/">Siliconera</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/fate-unlimited-codes-another-psp-fighter-you-wont-play/">Fate/Unlimited Codes: another PSP fighter you won't play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Feb 2009 22:00:00 EST.
