GOG.com, already home to hundreds of ridiculously cheap games, may be going a little bit crazy. The site is currently running a "#NoDRM" <a href="http://www.gog.com/">summer sale</a>, discounting over 500 games, with most of them down to $5 or less. Then we have the <em>really </em>nutty deals like <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/alan-wake"><em>Alan Wake</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/alan-wakes-american-nightmare"><em>Alan Wake's American Nightmare</em></a> for <a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/wide_awake_bundle">$4.48</a> and several other games, like <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/torchlight"><em>Torchlight</em></a>, for <a href="http://www.gog.com/gamecard/torchlight"><em>free</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/18/gog-com-summer-sale-free-torchlight-alan-wake-series-for-4-48/">GOG.com summer sale: Free Torchlight, Alan Wake series for $4.48 and more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Jun 2013 13:00:00 EST. The massive catalog of adventure games from Activision - which once upon a time were known as the Sierra adventure games - is 50 percent off on <a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_weekend_promo_310513">GOG</a> until Monday, June 3.<br />
<br />
The sale includes the Kings Quest, Quest for Glory, Zork, Space Quest, Police Quest, Gabriel Knight series and many, many more. They are all either $2.99 or $4.99. The entire portfolio can be yours for $121.<br />
<br />
Also, there's no shame in looking up the answer to the Rumpelstiltskin riddle in <em>King's Quest</em> when you get stuck. We've all done it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/31/activision-sierra-adventure-games-50-off-on-gog-this-weekend/">Activision (Sierra) adventure games 50% off on GOG this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 May 2013 11:00:00 EST. Need some more adventure in your life? GOG.com has you covered, knocking 60 percent off a <a href="http://www.gog.com/newsletter/indie_adventures_weekend_promo_100513">dozen adventure games</a>. Notable games include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-longest-journey"><em>The Longest Journey</em></a>, <em>Blackwell</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/botanicula"><em>Botanicula</em></a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/gemini-rue"><em>Gemini Rue</em></a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/machinarium"><em>Machinarium</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/to-the-moon"><em>To the Moon</em></a> and, for some reason, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/incredipede"><em>Incredipede</em></a>.<br />
<br />
With the exception of <em>Miasmata</em>, <em>Dreamfall</em> and the Blackwell bundle, which are $5.99 apiece, all the games are $3.99 each. The sale ends Tuesday morning at 11:59 ET.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/10/gog-com-adventure-game-sale-offers-cheap-thrills/">GOG.com adventure game sale offers cheap thrills</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 May 2013 23:00:00 EST. One year after its high-profile launch on XBLA, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fez"><em>Fez</em></a> is available on PC via <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/224760/">Steam</a>, the <a href="http://polytroncorporation.com/buy-fez">Humble Store</a> and <a href="http://www.gog.com/gamecard/fez">GOG</a> today for $10. For $5 more on Steam, grab the game and its super-cool original soundtrack by Disasterpeace, or grab the soundtrack by itself for $7. Steam: Giving you <em>all</em> the options to spend your money.<br />
<br />
By April 13, <em>Fez</em> sold 200,000 copies on XBLA and we thought it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/fez-review/#review">positively joyful</a>. Creator Phil Fish <a href="https://twitter.com/PHIL_FISH/status/329651376152006656">suggests</a> hopeful PC players purchase <em>Fez</em> via the Humble Store, since he gets 95 percent of that revenue, compared to 70 percent from Steam and GOG. If Fish insulted your grandmother and you really want to get back at him, go ahead and buy <em>Fez</em> through Steam or GOG and have a wonderful time playing it. <em>That'll show him</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/01/psa-fez-flips-platforms-lands-on-pc-today/">PSA: Fez flips platforms, lands on PC today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 May 2013 14:00:00 EST. Each of the six games, namely <em>Sam &amp; Max Season 1</em>, <em>Season 2</em>, and <em>Season 3</em>, <em>Back to the Future</em>, <em>Wallace &amp; Gromit's Grand Adventures</em>, and <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em>, is going at 85 percent off.<br /><br />You can buy the games separately, or all for a total of $26.19. That's nearly $9 less than they went for in GOG's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/09/telltale-80-precent-off-interplay-50-percent-off-at-gog/">last Telltale sale</a>. With rotating daily deals of up to 75% off and discounts up to 50% off on everything in GOG's catalogue, the platform is truly making a case for the season of giving to one's self.<br /><br />The sale lasts until January 3. Today's daily deals include <em>The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</em> for $12 and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-longest-journey"><em>The Longest Journey</em></a> for $5, among other quality offerings. As for general standouts during the promotion, we'd have to say <em>Syndicate</em> for $3 is a nice deal, and so is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/27/legend-of-grimrock-review/"><em>Legend of Grimrock</em></a> for $3.74. Mac gamers aren't left out in the full-priced cold either, with deals on <em>SimCity 2000</em> for $3, <em>Fallout</em> for $5 and <em>Descent</em> and <em>Descent 2</em> for $5 to consider.<br /><br />For the full list of 475 games on sale during GOG's promotion, follow the source link below.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/14/gogs-holiday-sale-discounts-475-games-until-jan-3/">GOG's holiday sale discounts 475 games until Jan. 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Dec 2012 17:00:00 EST. The digital distribution service stated 431 games (out of 486 available on the service) have been "fixed, tested, and reported" to work on Windows 8.<br /><br />"Note that most of these have not had the master builds updated, so you shouldn't need to redownload the installer or anything," GOG's announcement noted. "Some of the titles, our build ninjas performed their usual magic on, and they'll work now in Windows 8 - and we're even adding Windows 7 support to a few. We'll also be adding more Windows 8 games as time goes by and we've got time to apply some fixes to more of the classic games in the catalog."<br /><br />We reached out to GOG for an official list of the 431 compatible games, but they told us it's easier to list the games that aren't Windows 8 compatible. We've dropped that list after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/26/gog-adds-windows-8-support-431-games-compatible/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GOG adds Windows 8 support, 431 games compatible</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/26/gog-adds-windows-8-support-431-games-compatible/">GOG adds Windows 8 support, 431 games compatible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Nov 2012 16:30:00 EST. It's offering six of Telltales' episodes-bundled games at 80 percent off, while the site's entire Interplay catalog's going at half-price.<br /><br />The Telltale offer covers <em>Sam &amp; Max: Season</em> <i>One</i>, <i>Two</i>, and <i>Three</i>,<i> Wallace &amp; Gromit's Grand Adventures, Back to the Future: The Game, </i>and <em>Tales of Monkey Island. </em>Each game can be bought separately at 80 percent off, but for the record they total in at a measly $34.94. The offer's good until the clock strikes midnight ET on November 13.<br /><br />Whereas you've got an extra three days for the other offer, which slashes 50 percent off all 32 Interplay games in the site's catalog. They include Fallout <em>1</em>, <em>2</em>, and <em>Tactics</em>, both MDK games, and the once-controversial <em>Kingpin: Life of Crime. </em>Incidentally<em>, </em>hip hop superstars Cypress Hill supplied the soundtrack for <em>Kingpin</em>. While the dow noted the delay to the update from Trent Oster's Beamdog, the distributor saw that as an opportunity to post the step-by-step guide to enhance the games' graphics. Credit goes to GOG.com forum user GoJays2025 for putting the guide together.<br /><br />For the record, the enhancement requires six mods, and both of the games. It's convenient, then, that GOG.com has them <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/14/dungeons-and-dragons-games-on-sale-through-gog/">on sale</a> at <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/promo/hasbro_stacking_promo">$3.49 each</a>. Notably, the Tomb Raider collection has actually been "remastered for Windows." The Tomb Raider collection is $10, while <em>Colonization</em> is available for $6. On June 19, indie game <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/tiny_and_big_grandpas_leftovers"><em>Tiny and Big</em></a> will also come to GOG, for $10 ($9 for pre-orders). Tomorrow a livestream press conference will reveal a new RPG with a futuristic setting, evidenced by Rayban Charles up there.<br /><br />He's some concept art that CD Projekt Red released to tease tomorrow's stream, which you can catch over on Facebook or at <a href="http://www.thewitcher.com">thewitcher.com</a>. And with the stream taking place over on the latter, that blip about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/witcher-rise-of-the-white-wolf-spotted-on-retail-sites-for-xbox/"><em>The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf</em></a> from earlier today seems like another candidate for an announcement tomorrow. The plot <em>thickens</em>.<br /><br />The livestream takes place tomorrow at 1pm ET. To see the rest of Rayban's centerfold, you'll need to grab the hoverboard and cruise past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/cd-projekt-red-teases-futuristic-rpg-for-tomorrows-livestream/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CD Projekt Red teases futuristic RPG for tomorrow's livestream</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/cd-projekt-red-teases-futuristic-rpg-for-tomorrows-livestream/">CD Projekt Red teases futuristic RPG for tomorrow's livestream</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 May 2012 22:30:00 EST. Games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/painkiller"><em>Painkiller</em></a>, <em>Spellforce</em>, <em>Dark Fall </em>and the <em>Gothic</em> series are all half-off until next week.<br /><br />On top of the Nordic discounts, GOG.com is offering the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher"><em>The Witcher</em></a> for a paltry $5. Of course, if you're in a rush to get to <em>The Witcher 2 </em>you could just go for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/04/previously-on-the-witcher/">wrap-up video</a>. "Heavy discounts are bad for gamers," Rambourg told <a href="http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/06/gog-talks-preserving-value-of-games-slow-death-of-drm/">Rock, Paper, Shotgun</a>. "If a gamer buys a game he or she doesn't want just because it's on sale, they're being trained to make bad purchases, and they're also learning that games aren't valuable." The all-too-common phenomenon of spending more money than you want to just to get everything that's on sale in a particular week is "not good for anyone," he said.<br /><br />If, like us, you wonder at this point how this attitude squares with GOG's own <a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/interplay_blast">weekend sales</a>, Rambourg explained: "Our average sale tends to be around 40% - 50% off; that's plenty of incentive to pick up a game if you're interested or if you just think you might like to try it because you're not sure about the game, but not some crazy 75% or 85% discount that damages the long-term value of a game." Of course, if you want to get extremely technical about it, the majority of GOG's business is selling $6 versions of games that cost upward of $50 when they originally came out (twenty years ago).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/16/gog-head-massive-discounts-bad-for-gamers/">GOG head: massive discounts 'bad for gamers'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Apr 2012 12:30:00 EST. Every title is $3, actually, making the entire bundle $96 -- a savings of $96. Yes, that's what we meant with "buy 16, get 16 free." This could also be the "buy one, get two half off" sale, or the "buy 8, get 16 half off" sale. Take your pick; any way they're all good old games for a great new price.<br /><br />The sale runs from now until Monday at 11:59 p.m. EDT.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/good-old-games-taking-half-off-interplay-titles-this-weekend/">Good Old Games taking half off Interplay titles this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 20:30:00 EST. This weekend, GOG has a mad rush of Zork titles and other "<a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_treasures?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=game_subject&amp;utm_campaign=activision_treasures">Activision Treasures</a>" on sale, including <em>Zork: Grand Inquisitor</em>, <em>Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands</em>, <em>Return to Zork</em> and <em>The Zork Anthology</em>, which has <em>Zork 1</em>-<em>3</em>, <em>Beyond Zork</em>, <em>Zork Zero</em> and <em>Planetfall</em>.<br /><br />All Zorky titles are half off, for $3 each this weekend, along with <em>Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura</em>, <em>Caesar 3</em> and <em>Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption</em>, the last of which we hear was recently rebooted as an open-world western. Or, wait. That may have been something else entirely.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/30/have-a-good-zork-filled-weekend-with-activision-treasures-sale/">Have a good, Zork-filled weekend with Activision Treasures sale on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Mar 2012 13:00:00 EST. The new, new GOG offers more community features to suggest new games, a new, faster downloader, and, most importantly, more games.<br /><br />GOG is fulfilling its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/report-good-old-games-to-offer-good-new-ish-games/">promise</a> of newer games with a growing selection of recent indies including <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/trine"><em>Trine</em></a> and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_whispered_world"><em>The Whispered World</em></a>. It's even selling a game that's so <em>not</em> old, it's not even out yet. Pre-orders for the first-person dungeon RPG <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/legend_of_grimrock"><em>Legend of Grimrock</em></a> are open now for $11.99, in advance of its April 11 release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/27/gog-re-relaunches-with-new-indies-and-grimrock-pre-orders/">GOG re-relaunches with new indies and Grimrock pre-orders</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Mar 2012 12:30:00 EST.
