This is the same BT Games that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/03/mass-effect-3-will-wont-have-multiplayer-part-5-bt-games-edit/">leaked <em>Mass Effect 3</em>'s multiplayer</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/03/report-jak-and-daxter-hd-spotted-on-retail-site/2">the <em>Jak and Daxter Collection</em>'s</a>, so there's precedence for this being more than an ambitious placeholder. We've also confirmed that they operate based on information given by local distributors.<br /><br />The site gives "Feb 2013" as the game's expected ship date, but that's a bit more nebulous in its reliability at this point. Still, add this listing with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/sony-santa-monica-hiring-for-unannounced-god-of-war-title/">Sony Santa Monica's search for a Senior Staff Concept Artist</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/03/god-of-war-iv-listed-as-upcoming-project-in-composers-resume/">Timothy Williams' affirmation that he is indeed working on <em>God of War 4</em>'s orchestral score</a>, and we feel confident in saying -- yes -- there may be yet another game in a super popular franchise.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/23/retailer-taking-pre-orders-for-god-of-war-4/">Retailer taking pre-orders for God of War 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Feb 2012 16:55:00 EST. Having recently <a href="http://movieblog.ugo.com/index.php/movieblog/more/brett_ratner_making_god_of_war_film_confirmed/">confirmed</a> his involvement with <em>God of War</em>'s assuredly violent journey to the big (albeit considerably less interactive) screen, film director Brett Ratner is all set to combine his particular track record with the games-to-movie stigma and create the internet's greatest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/25/rumor-ratner-to-turn-god-of-war-film-into-geek-tragedy/">bitchfest</a>. Not everyone's predicting a Greek tragedy, however, with <em>God of War</em>'s creator, David Jaffe, earnestly informing us (via video, embedded after the break) that while the adaptation "could be shit," he's nevertheless satisfied with the pedigree of the director, as well as the producer (from <em>Batman Begins</em>!) and the writer, who penned the screenplay for <em>Road to Perdition</em>.<br /><br />Mind you, he also says he liked X-Men 3, so perhaps he's just pulling our leg on the whole thing. That Jaffe is a rascal, we tell you!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/david-jaffe-pleased-with-bratner-helming-god-of-war-film/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>David Jaffe pleased with Bratner helming God of War film</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/david-jaffe-pleased-with-bratner-helming-god-of-war-film/">David Jaffe pleased with Bratner helming God of War film</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Oct 2008 13:15:00 EST. <div align="left">Today, team Capcom just announced some interesting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a> information regarding the game's control scheme. More specifically, they're looking to overhaul the current <a href="http://kotaku.com/5044077/capcom-confirms-resident-evil-5-controls-change"><em>RE5 </em>control formula</a> by replacing the classic stop and shoot mechanic with a more <em>Gears </em>inspired cover system. What's the reason? <em>RE5 </em>producer Jun Takeuchi feels that the cover system controls will slow down the tension that could potentially bring a new horror element into the mix. Expect to see a completely new <em>RE5 </em>unveiling during the Tokyo Game Show in October.</div>

Remember the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/creepy-xbox-360-alligator-skin-creeps-us-out/">creepy Xbox 360 alligator case mod</a>? Creator dfw monkie is back again with a brand new mod and <em>this</em> time it's actually related to an Xbox 360 game. The game in question is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><span style="font-style: italic;">Gears of War</span></a> and dfw monkie has put together a <a href="http://forums.llamma.com/viewtopic.php?t=20672">very impressive mod</a>. The mod features raised textures and a glowing <span style="font-style: italic;">Gears of War </span>logo. The only feature we think we would have trouble adjusting to is the glowing <span style="font-style: italic;">red</span> ring of light. How will you know when the Xbox 360 is broken? Will you get the Green Rings of Death? And no, you aren't experiencing a <em>Gears </em>induced case of deja vu. We've previously been treated to a few <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/gow-series-two-figures-now-with-exploding-heads/">toy expo photos</a> of the second series figures, but these are prettier and 100% official product shots. 'Nuff said. Browse through our <em>Gears of War </em>action figure <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-action-figures-1/">gallery</a> below to view all four new series two figures including Dominic Santiago, Damon Baird, Locust Theron Guard without helmet and Locust Theron Guard with helmet both sporting our favorite weapon of death, the torque bow. Sadly, there is no mention of the gruesome <a href="http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery/v/ToyFair2008/neca/DSC02062.JPG.html">Locust headshot figure</a>. It must be a limited edition.<br /><br />(Psst, if you're in love with these figures, wait until you see what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fanswag">Fanswag</a> surprise we have for you next week. It's truly epic.)<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/bloody-good-neca-gears-of-war-series-2-figures/">Bloody good NECA Gears of War series 2 figures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Jun 2008 09:30:00 EST. Which isn't really a huge surprise seeing that <em>Gears of War</em> had a cameo in Wiseman's latest flick <em>Live Free or Die Hard</em> which all but confirmed his involvement in the <em>Gears </em>movie ... or at least that's how our impressionably hopeful fanboy minds took it. A <em>Gears </em>movie that was originally slated or a Summer 2009 release, but development on the film has been taking longer than expected which means a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/31/gears-of-war-movie-penciled-in-for-2010-release/">delay into 2010</a> is inevitable. Also, is it just us or does it look like Wiseman is giving the old Bleszinski a run for his "pretty boy" money? Eh?<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.mcclarddesigns.com">yankeyhotel</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/17/gears-of-war-movie-snags-director-wiseman/">Gears of War movie snags director Wiseman</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jun 2008 10:15:00 EST. Earlier last week, some information leaked from and article in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/24/gears-of-war-2-x360-multiplayer-details-confirmed/">X360 Magazine</a>, but the EGM cover-story by outgoing editorial director Dan Hsu includes a world of new information ripe for the picking.<br /><br />Some information between the X360 and EGM article is slightly different. Most notably, some of the buttons involved in getting rid of a downed enemy are strangely different. However, since we don't talk about <span style="font-style: italic;">Gears 2 </span>enough around here, we have all the info you need here.<br /><br />From new weapon stats, the possibility of bots and the ability to blow you and your enemies up with a diabolical grenade--here is the newest info from EGM's fantastic July cover story. The issue also includes an extensive interview with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cliffyb">Cliff Bleszinski</a>, so any <span style="font-style: italic;">Gears </span>fan should check it out.<br /><br />All the info we got from <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167972">EGM's cover story</a>, after the jump!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/gears-of-war-2-multiplayer-detail-explosion/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Gears of War 2 multiplayer detail explosion</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/gears-of-war-2-multiplayer-detail-explosion/">Gears of War 2 multiplayer detail explosion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 May 2008 13:15:00 EST. A new edition that is not only cheaper, but is said to include all previously released DLC on the disc. Though, its specific contents were unknown.<br /><br />But now, a few days later, <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=71542">Gamestop</a> updated the page, adding the official <em>Gears of War</em> re-release box art (it looks nearly identical) and posted a listing of all the the additional content that'll be included on a separate "Bonus Disc". Come June 24th, Microsoft will release a newer edition of <em>Gears of War</em> for $39.99 which will feature all the previously release DLC maps including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/04/first-look-at-gows-hidden-fronts-map-pack/">Hidden Fronts</a>, additional gamer pictures, themes, videos and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><span style="font-style: italic;">GoW2</span></a> trailers as well. Check the break for a complete breakdown of what will be included in this latest release. Also, if it wasn't already obvious, if you haven't experienced <em>GoW </em>yet, then we feel this to be the opportune time to get all the <em>Gears </em>goodness you can handle in one (cheaper) box.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/16619/Gears-of-War-Special-Edition-Content-Revealed/">TeamXbox</a>, Thanks <a href="http://www.360sync.com">DjDATZ</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/contents-revealed-for-new-gears-of-war-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Contents revealed for new Gears of War edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/contents-revealed-for-new-gears-of-war-edition/">Contents revealed for new Gears of War edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 May 2008 12:30:00 EST. One of our X3F Soldiers tipped us off to scans of a recent article that showcased the new weapons and enemies in <em>Gears 2</em>. Since the other weapons spotted in the scans had been seen in the recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/10/video-this-is-gears-of-war-2/">Assault gameplay video</a>, we thought it would be a good time to introduce you to the flamethrower.<br /><br />This no nonsense inferno-spitting handheld burns red hot and promises to cook a steak in 9 seconds flat, and we don't mean a filet mignon or nothing--we're talking a "half the cow is on your plate, why is my belt still on?" man-steak. We can't even imagine what the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/13/gears-of-war-2-features-weapon-specific-executions/">execution will be for the flamethrower</a>, but we're sure <a href="http://www.epicgames.com">Epic</a> has something brutal up their sleeve. Hell, as long as Marcus sprinkles some salt and pepper on a dude's charred face afterwards, we're cool with whatever. More scans available at <a href="http://www.recenzeher.eu/screenshot/gears-of-war-2/15">Recenzeher</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, BAK6E]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/gears-2-flamethrower-other-weapons-spotted-in-scans/">Gears 2 flamethrower, other weapons spotted in scans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 May 2008 14:30:00 EST. We've yet to hear from Microsoft about details for the title (or a confirmation of the game's existence, for that matter), but as the listing reads "<em>Gears of War</em> with Maps", we can only assume it will contain the Hidden Fronts DLC as well as the Raven Down and Old Bones levels, rather than <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=SYJjHCZN46U">the hit song by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs</a>. And just to make sure we're on the same page, we highly doubt this re-release will feature any of the <em>Gears </em>PC content seeing that Epic has made it more than clear (on numerous occasions) that bringing the content to the 360 is nigh impossible. So, if you have yet to experience curb-stomping and Locust dismemberment, we think June 24th would be the perfect time to "jump in" with chainsaws a revving.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299619">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/25/gears-of-war-re-release-in-june-cheaper-and-with-map-dlc/">Gears of War re-release in June, cheaper and with map DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 25 May 2008 14:00:00 EST. Though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/call-of-duty-4-overtakes-halo-3-again-tops-xbox-live-activity/">other shooters have surpassed it in terms of Xbox Live activity</a>, we still hold a dear, dear place in our heart for the multiplayer portion of <em>Gears of War</em> -- a place intricately carved by an enemy chainsaw. Sure, the character advancement of <em>Call of Duty 4 </em>and <em>Vegas 2</em> led to a more compelling overall experience, but they lacked a certain panache that only a well-timed curb stomp can supply.<br /><br />Imagine our excitement when we caught wind of the <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/05/24/gears-of-war-2-x360-multiplayer-details-confirmed/">intimidating flood of details for the sequel's multiplayer component</a> in the upcoming issue of UK's X360 magazine. There's a full list of said details on our Microsoft-related sister site, but to inspire you to continue reading, here's a few tantalizing buzzwords you'll find behind <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/05/24/gears-of-war-2-x360-multiplayer-details-confirmed/">that link</a>: <em>Meatflag</em>, <em>Poison gas grenade</em>, <em>Flamethrower, Ten person multiplayer</em>, <em>Chainsaw duels</em>, and last but certainly not least, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veranda"><em>Verandas</em></a>. Cliff was thrown Q's from everything related to breaking into the industry, why he ditched a Dodge Viper and how to make it in today's gaming world.<br /><br />Of course <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gow2">Gears of War 2</a></em> was a hot topic and fans asked how it will stand-up to it's Game of the Year winning predecessor. "With the sequel, we're able to significantly streamline the online experience with a far more robust package that enables players to kick more ass online with their friends," Cliff answered.<br /><br />Without giving away too much information on the single-player experience, Cliff said the game must throw more interesting scenarios at players in between combat situations to stay fresh, "In <em>Gears 2</em>, we've got dozens of surprises in every level that will keep people talking for months to come."<br /><br />With changes to Epic's premier gaming engine fans wondered how updates to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Unreal-Engine-3/">Unreal Engine 3</a> will change the <em>Gears </em>experience. While Cliff was tight-lipped, he assured gamers the environments would add to the experience with a wider capacity for damage. "Players will really feel like they're in a sci-fi multiplayer version of Black Hawk Down."<br /><em><br />Gears of War 2</em> hits Xbox 360 this Novemeber.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/22/bleszinski-gets-questioned-on-all-things-gears-2/">Bleszinski gets questioned on all things Gears 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 May 2008 16:00:00 EST. Speaking with <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/05/21/cliff-bleszinski-done-with-the-cliffyb/">MTV Multiplayer</a> blogger Steven Totilo, Cliff confirmed that he would be dropping his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/CliffyB/">CliffyB</a> moniker, which he's used since the 90's.<br /><br />It's "time to grow up a bit," Cliff wrote in a note stating the nickname doesn't suit his 30-something lifestyle and that he's more focused on working to perfect <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gow2">Gears of War 2</a></em> and doesn't have time for silly nicknames. At least nicknames he'll publicly endorse.<br /><br />Pour one out for CliffyB folks, it was a wild ride.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/cliff-bleszinski-gets-serious-kills-cliffyb/">Cliff Bleszinski gets serious, kills CliffyB</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 May 2008 16:00:00 EST. The game also features something that was rare in <em>Gears</em>, sunlight--and it looks nice.<br /><br />While <em>Gears of War </em>had to prove the power of the Xbox 360, <em>Gears of War 2 </em>has more to prove in terms of storytelling after releases like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BioShock/">BioShock</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Portal/">Portal</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gtaiv">Grand Theft Auto IV</a></em> have taken the stage. The storyline in <em>Gears of War </em>was underwhelming to say the least but we have high hopes for <em>Gears 2</em> and everything it will teach us about Microsoft's newest universe. But so help you Epic if we have to play as a Locust.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/graphics-comparison-of-war/">Graphics Comparison of War</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 May 2008 19:00:00 EST. Epic Games' own Cliff "Cliffy B" Bleszinski will be the next 10 Question target and GameDaily wants your help in narrowing down the ten questions to ask. So, if you have a juicy good <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war"><em>Gears of War</em></a> question, general Epic Games inquiry or were wondering which teeth whitening product the Cliffster recommends, shoot an email to GameDaily or simply hop on over to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/26/got-a-question-for-cliffy-b-drop-it-here/">Joystiq</a> and post your question in the comments section. You have until April 30th to submit your question when GameDaily will choose their top ten questions to ask Cliffy.<br /><br />And just to prevent an influx of teeth whitening questions, we already found out (through stalker'ish means) that Cliffy uses <a href="http://www.whitestrips.com/en_US/whitestrips_choices/index.jsp">Crest Whitestrips Premium</a>. Now that you know how to brighten your smile, focus your Cliffy questions on video games.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/26/got-a-question-for-cliffy-b-drop-it-here/">Read</a> - Submit your questions through Joystiq<br /><a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/10-questions-for-epics-cliffyb/?biz=1">Read</a> - Submit your questions through GameDaily<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/26/have-gears-or-epic-questions-ask-cliffy-b/">Have Gears or Epic questions? You can view the glorious packaging photos of Marcus Fenix, Locust Drone, Locust Sniper and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/gears-of-wars-cole-singled-out-as-a-racial-sterotype/">controversial</a> Augustus Cole in the gallery below. Yup, you have to agree, they are beautifully gory figures and the packaging is (dare we say) much better than that seen in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/halo-3-mcfarlane-figures-now-fully-packaged/"><em>Halo 3</em> McFarlane figures</a>. And let's just say he had no problem pointing the racial stereotype finger at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/epic-games">Epic Games</a>.<br /><br />When asked his opinion on how black <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war"><em>Gears of War</em></a> character Cole Train is portrayed in the game, Gray responded by saying "Cole Train is basically like every other effin' black character in a video game. Like here comes the urban stereotype. Where is this 1990's - not even 2000 - black slang, where does this fit in this futuristic world that doesn't even take place on Earth? They go really far to do a lot of fictional justifications for this culture that they've built, and they go right back to this urban stereotype for the black character." Gray went on to say that a character like Cole Train, "all it does is reinforce dumb stereotypes and it sort of reinforces casual racism." Yes sir, this is one loaded and passionately argued topic indeed ...<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/gears-of-wars-cole-singled-out-as-a-racial-sterotype/">Gears of War's Cole singled out as a racial stereotype</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Apr 2008 10:15:00 EST. Godfrey confirmed with them that their team has a finalized script, almost has a director attached to the flick and are scheduled to start filming "<font size="2" face="arial" color="#000000">early next year for [release] the summer of 2010". A Summer 2010 release, not too shab.<br /><br />And to recap: It's good that the <em>Gears of War</em> movie hasn't gone the way of our long time shelved (but still promised) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/20/halo-movie-denied-hollywood-pulls-out/"><em>Halo</em> movie</a>. The bad is that we have to wait until at least 2010 to see Marcus chainsaw his way through a live action locust hell. Who wants to bet that Cliffy will be making a cameo? Any takers?<br /></font><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/31/gears-of-war-movie-penciled-in-for-2010-release/">Gears of War movie penciled in for 2010 release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Mar 2008 15:00:00 EST. Now, IGN have spotted a <a href="http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/856/856008p1.html">teaser advert</a> for the game on the back cover of <em>God of War: Chains of Olympus</em>' retail manual. Not only does it confirm the game's existance for a second time, but it says that it will be "Coming Soon". <br /></div>
<br />Considering that we weren't expecting to see <em>God of War III</em> before 2009, we're surprised that Sony are claiming that the game is coming "soon." Does this mean that we could be getting two Kratos adventures this year? No doubt we'll learn more later in the year at either Sony's Gamer's Day (whenever that lies this year) or at E3.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/29/god-of-war-iii-coming-soon/">God of War III coming 'soon'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 Feb 2008 17:00:00 EST. Fritz apparently spoke to people who are "close enough to the development team at Epic to know" that chainsaw wielders will now be able to repel, and possibly counter, each other's attacks.<br /><br />Epic hasn't confirmed this, but given the feature's appearance in the trailer, and the frequent complaints about an "unbalanced" chainsaw combat system in the first <em>Gears of War</em>, we think it's safe to assume we'll be spending many long winter nights playing <em>Lumberjack Bushido Blade </em>when the game drops this November.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/23/rumor-gears-of-war-2-to-feature-chainsaw-duels/">Rumor: Gears of War 2 to feature chainsaw duels</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Feb 2008 15:00:00 EST. And before we go any further, the awesomely bloody-violent picture you see above is a second series <em>GoW</em> figure rightfully named "Locust Headshot". A figure that brings tears to our eyes and is a guaranteed X3F purchase. We've even made room for it by our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/viva-pinata-toys-busting-out-of-bk/"><em>Viva Pinata </em>toys</a>.<br /><br />Moving along, NECA's second series will be comprised of the <a href="http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery/v/ToyFair2008/neca/DSC02062.JPG.html">Locust Headshot</a> figure you see above, <a href="http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery/v/ToyFair2008/neca/DSC02066.JPG.html">Dominic Santiago</a>, <a href="http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery/v/ToyFair2008/neca/DSC02067.JPG.html">Damon Baird</a> and another <a href="http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery/v/ToyFair2008/neca/DSC02065.JPG.html">Locust variant</a>. No release date has been set, but one could gather that since series one will be releasing in April, the second series should release either in the Summer or Fall. The wait will be rough on us though, we want our headshot figure NOW!<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/joshuabjohnson">Joshua Johnson</a>]<center></center><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/gow-series-two-figures-now-with-exploding-heads/">GoW series two figures: Now with exploding heads!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Feb 2008 13:30:00 EST. And, this weekend, Sierra met Larry fans' demands by releasing an official <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30703.html"><em>Box Office Bust</em> debut trailer</a>. One that pulls a tiny smidgen of inspiration from a popular "Mad World" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/25/new-gow-trailer-pulls-at-your-heartstrings/"><em>Gears of War</em> trailer</a> we all know and adore. We guess, if the formula worked before, why change it?<br /><br />Embedded above is the <em>Lesuire Suit Larry</em> trailer that's in question as we challenge you to try and spot the <em>Gears</em> references and nods. And really, it shouldn't be all that hard. Just be mindful of the shiny, bouncing, gold things at the end of the trailer. From their brief interview we learn that the Cliffster has been taking it easy lately, stepping back from his intense development schedule and is gathering inspiration from different media and experiences all from a different perspective. It's easy to see that MTV Multiplayer is talking to a a newly refreshed yet same old same old Cliffy B.<br /><br />But after all the life talk, we quickly learn that Cliffy B fully supports and is entirely focused on console gaming saying that "PC [gaming] is just in disarray" and that "the PC is kind of the secondary part of what we're doing". Cliffy goes on to fully embrace the direction console gaming is taking and that "right now making AAA games on consoles is where we're at". Which AAA game exactly? He wouldn't say, but we have a hunch that the title rhymes with "tears of bore boo" and includes lots of blood. You aren't fooling anyone Cliffy, bring on the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gow2">Gears 2</a></em> already.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/14/cliffy-b-puts-his-development-focus-on-consoles/">Cliffy B puts his development focus on consoles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 14 Feb 2008 12:30:00 EST. "Kudo will be the GM in charge of the studio that oversees MGS/Epic publishing relationship. Our previous GM is moving over to the studio that oversees the <em>Halo</em> franchise where there's more action going on," said Rein. In yet another ninja-move, everyone talks around <em>Gears of War 2</em> without ever confirming it exists.<br /><br />Late last month reports were circling that former EA Chicago studio head, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/former-ea-chicago-studio-head-heads-to-xbox-division/">Kudo Tsunoda</a>, had shifted to a role within <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/microsoft-game-studios">Microsoft Game Studios</a>. Rumors had pinned Tsunoda as the man Microsoft would place in charge of the <em><a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy,com/tag/gow">Gears of War</a></em> license and according to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=92421">Eurogamer</a>, these rumors have been confirmed.<br /><br />In one of his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/shane-kim-on-lost-studios-handhelds-and-the-console-war/">many interviews</a> during the 2008 D.I.C.E. Summit, Shane Kim confirmed that Tsunoda was indeed crowned as king of <em>GoW</em> <em>Village</em>. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/03/gears-of-war-2-graces-gamepros-cover/">Gears of War 2</a> </em>confirmed, right? Not exactly, while Tsunoda is now in charge of the <em>Gears </em>license, Kim refused to acknowledge the existence of a sequel for the 2006 game of the year. So our guess is Tsunoda's going to sit in a dark room wearing a crown and holding a jewel encrusted scepter humming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/25/new-gow-trailer-pulls-at-your-heartstrings/">Mad World</a> to himself all day.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/11/tsunoda-officially-the-boss-of-gears-of-war-business/">Tsunoda crowned king of Gears of War [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Feb 2008 12:00:00 EST. So creative, they somehow managed to one-up <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war">Gears of War's</a></em> "Seriously" achievement.<br /><br />Looking over <em>The Club</em>'s <a href="http://www.achieve360points.com/game/theclub/">achievements</a> one will quickly notice an achievement by the name of "No, Seriously" which can only be earned if a player gets 10,001 kills in ranked multiplayer. This, of course, is a direct reference to <em>GoW</em>'s famous (and nearly impossible to obtain) "Seriously" achievement where gamers must rack up some 10,000 ranked kills. As you see, <em>The Club</em>'s "No, Seriously" requires an extra kill. Nicely played Bizarre, nicely played.<br /><br />Though, we're sorry to say that <em>Gears</em>' "Seriously" will forever be held high atop our list of most respected achievements and can never be replaced or duplicated, even if it <em>only</em> requires 10,000 kills to unlock. Heck, "No, Seriously" will only net you 40 Gamerscore, ten less Gamerscore than the the original "Seriously". It must not be as l33t of an achievement as it's made out to be ... just saying Bizarre, just saying.<br /><br />[Thanks, Scott (HHHawk)]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/the-club-one-ups-gows-seriously-achievement/">The Club one-ups GoW's Seriously achievement</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 16:30:00 EST. Surfer Girl goes on to claim other rumors including <em>Mass Effect DLC</em> as well as <em>Halo 4</em>'s existence, but in the short term, <em>GoW2</em> and <em>Alan Wake</em> making a GDC appearance is the hotness right now. Even if Mark Rein <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/04/gamepros-gow2-article-isnt-an-announcement/">says otherwise</a>.<br /><br />Looking back, Surfer Girl has been able to keep a pretty solid track record for being spot about insider news, but know that her insider tips are not always perfect.
