The tournament -- entitled, "<a href="http://forums.gamesinaction.com/ibb/posts.aspx?postID=21681">Shock &amp; Awe</a>" -- will begin on the day that <em>Halo 3</em> is released (again, probably 9 months away). Shock &amp; Awe is a 4-on-4, best of 3, 256 team, single elimination tournament that <em>Halo </em>players are familiar with. To sign up, all you have to do is follow <a href="http://forums.gamesinaction.com/ibb/posts.aspx?postID=21683">this link</a>. You'll need to register for the forums to do so, but it's free and painless. Oh, and did we mention you could win up to $5,000 in prizes? Yeah, well, you could win up to $5,000 in prizes.<br /><br />The tournament is being organized by <a href="http://forums.gamesinaction.com/ibb/topics.aspx?forumID=2">Games in Action</a>. The group, recently spotlighted by <a href="http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?link=ph34rusmaximus">Bungie.net</a>, welcomes gamers of all stripes. It's not like you won't be playing <em>Halo 3</em> on launch day anyway. Why not throw in a chance at free money, too?<br /><br />If anyone out there knows about any other tournaments, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tips">let us know</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/15/first-halo-3-tournament-announced/">First Halo 3 tournament announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Feb 2007 09:45:00 EST.
