There's something awesome about sticking your hand up in the air and then pushing it forward to make Thor fling electricity from his hammer, or crouching down and then bringing your arms up high to make the Hulk chuck some ground at his opponent. These are iconic characters from my childhood all the way up to the popular movie, and this game portrays them in a really colorful and fun way.</div><div class="portal-right"> <img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/avengers-iron-man.jpg" style="float: right; width: 75px; height: 75px; " /><strong>Jess Conditt: </strong>Let it be known that Mike Schramm makes an impressive (nay, an <em>incredible</em>) Hulk. I wasn't so bad either, I think. Especially for rippling-muscle-challenged people like myself it's wonderful to embody the larger-than-life heroes in Marvel's repetoire, as Mike suggested. I played our multiplayer battle as Venom and Iron Man, two of my personal favorite characters, and they didn't disappoint.<br /> <br /> Most motions are shared by each character - punch, knee up, arms out and clapped together, etc. - but the resulting moves are different. With the same punching move, Iron Man shoots a beam of light from his palm and Hulk rushes the player, fists-first. It's a powerful feeling to throw a punch "at" your friend and watch his hero respond on-screen.</div><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-avengers-battle-for-earth-comic-con-2012/">Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth (Comic Con 2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-avengers-battle-for-earth-comic-con-2012/#5155673"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/icevsspider_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-avengers-battle-for-earth-comic-con-2012/#5155674"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/magnetovswolverine_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-avengers-battle-for-earth-comic-con-2012/#5155676"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/spidervsdoom_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-avengers-battle-for-earth-comic-con-2012/#5155677"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/spidervswolverine_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-avengers-battle-for-earth-comic-con-2012/#5155678"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/stormvsiceman_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/16/co-opinion-avengers-battle-for-earth/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Co-opinion: Avengers: Battle for Earth</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/16/co-opinion-avengers-battle-for-earth/">Co-opinion: Avengers: Battle for Earth</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Jul 2012 20:00:00 EST. The Pinball games from Zen Studios -- <em>Pinball FX 2</em> on XBLA and <em>Marvel Pinball</em> on PSN -- will receive a Hulk table sometime next year. <a href="http://www.xblafans.com/hulk-table-smashing-its-way-into-pinball-fx-2-34297.html">XBLAfans</a> took note of the <a href="http://forum.zenstudios.com/showthread.php?p=17543#post17543">forum post</a> where Mel Kirk, VP of PR and Marketing for Zen Studios, explicitly announced the angry green goon's forthcoming appearance.<br />
<br />
"Everything that comes from Marvel next year will be bigger, not necessarily character specific," Kirk told us when we asked about the table. "Hulk will be the main character, but it will be based on something in the Marvel storyline."<br />
<br />
It would appear Zen Studios' relationship with Marvel is going well. The company launched the original Marvel tables last year, followed by DLC featuring <em>Fantastic Four</em> and <em>Captain America</em> (one of the best tables available), and the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/15/marvel-vengeance-and-virtue-tables-out-now/">Vengeance and Virtue</a>" tables which came out last week. From what Zen Studios is saying, there's plenty more to come in 2012.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/23/hulk-smash-new-marvel-pinball-table-next-year/">Hulk smash new Marvel pinball table next year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Dec 2011 08:50:00 EST. 	<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/18/you-really-should-have-seen-this-amazing-footage-from-the-avenge/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/avengers.jpg" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; margin-left: 4px; margin-right: 4px; margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px; " /></a></div>
Earlier this year THQ shuttered the Australian studio most likely working on<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/30/the-avengers-the-video-game-leaks-cancelled-by-thq/">The Avengers: The Video Game</a></em>, and until now we didn't know how far along the game was, or how awesome it was turning out to be. A freshly leaked video shows <em>The Avengers</em> in a pre-alpha build, highlighting the game's sweet FPS mechanics -- unfortunately THQ has pulled the footage from YouTube, meaning you'll <em>never</em> get to see how amazing this thing was. Your life <em>sucks</em>.<br />
<br />
Not to rub it in your face, but we saw it and boy, was it good. The video showed the first-person perspectives of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America, all using unique fighting styles to destroy their enemies -- or get obliterated by them, as was the case against the X-Men and Fantastic Four Super-Skrulls. The art style appeared sophisticated, especially for a pre-alpha build, and it contained just the right amount of superhero violence, including an active input scene where Hulk slowly snapped the neck of a Super-Skrull. Seriously, it's a shame you'll never see this footage. Ever.<br />
<br />
Unless you see it <a href="http://www.1up.com/news/cancelled-avengers-game-footage">here</a>. We hope you appreciate it more this way.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/18/you-really-should-have-seen-this-amazing-footage-from-the-avenge/">You really should have seen this amazing footage from The Avengers video game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 18 Sep 2011 16:30:00 EST. Go ahead, let the stress out. It's Friday, after all. Time to Hulk out and smash some buildings before the weekend, thanks to this neat <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kinect-hacks">Kinect hack</a>. It uses the sensor's RGB camera to tint your skin green and the Box2d physics engine (same as <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/angry-birds">Angry Birds</a>!</em>) to deliver complete and utter pandemonium.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/18/kinect-hacks-hulk-smash/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kinect Hacks: Hulk Smash!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/18/kinect-hacks-hulk-smash/">Kinect Hacks: Hulk Smash!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Mar 2011 21:29:00 EST. It's tough being a super hero. If you're Dr. Doom and you're feeling down, you can just blow something up. If you're The Thing, well, all you can really do is look in a mirror and cry to yourself.<br /><br />That was before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/punch-out"><em>Punch-Out!!</em></a>, though, with a new ad (courtesy of <a href="http://www.gamervision.com/gamer/coop/news/article/nintendo_punch_out_advertisement_a_marvel">Gamervision</a>) popping up in comics showing two beefy brawlers finding a proper outlet for their stress. Oh, we really wouldn't suggest playing with the Wiimote and Nunchuk, super guys. The game is way better with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/18/joystiq-review-punch-out-wii/">the classic controls</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5294241/thing-hulk-spend-quality-clobberin-time-with-punch+out">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/super-heroes-duke-it-out-in-punch-out/">Super heroes duke it out in Punch-Out!!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 20:00:00 EST. <br />It's Monday, again. Usually, we'd frown and mope about all day, what with it being the beginning of another week of tirelessly blogging and all, but Mondays are turning into more of a celebration for us. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/02/wii-releases-this-week-lego-indiana-jones-edition/">This week's releases</a> only show one title that we're particularly interested in (hint: it's pictured in the post above), but that's not to say other notable titles aren't releasing. Some of you have been following <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/the-hulk-bashes-his-way-onto-the-wii/"><em>The Incredible Hulk</em></a>, we're sure, as its promise to let you destroy tons of stuff will be enough to get you on board. Actually, reading that last sentence, we're kind of interested, too.<br /><br />Anywho, what will you be playing this weekend? Going to pick up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/producer-hints-at-lego-indiana-jones-sequel/"><em>LEGO Indiana Jones</em></a>? Going to pick something else up, perhaps a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/wiiware">WiiWare</a> game? This week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/02/ds-releases-for-the-week-of-june-2nd/">release list</a> looks pretty healthy, if you ask us. We've got some games for just about everyone, including an RPG, along with some action/adventure titles. Oh, and some licensed titles, for good measure.<br /><br />So, what will you be playing this weekend? New game, or something in your collection? How do you plan on getting through this weekend with your DS?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/wrup-summon-the-hulks-original-adventures-edition/">WRUP: Summon the Hulk's Original Adventures edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jun 2008 13:15:00 EST. They're the only retailer who is offering an Xbox 360 exclusive in-game <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/tihulk/default.aspx">red Hulk character</a> that's so darn red that we'd almost recommend he make a doctors visit to be sure that it isn't the result of over exposure to the sun. True story: We were originally going to call this post "<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hulk">The Incredible Hulk</a> </em>on Wii looks like <em>The Incredible Hulk </em>on 360 and PS3, but worse," but we realized that if we did that, we would be hitting the nail so squarely on the head that we wouldn't have anything to say in the actual post. So ... these screenshots from <em>The Incredible Hulk </em>on Wii look like the ones from <em>The Incredible Hulk </em>on 360 and PS3, but, you know, worse.<br /><em><br /></em>Looks aside, all we actually want from the Wii version is really good Wiimote implementation, like being able to slam both 'mote and 'chuk down at the same time and destroy everything within a city block. Don't worry, we're not holding our breath. Check out all the screens below, we've added the next gen pics after the jump for your comparing pleasure.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-wii/">The Incredible Hulk (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-wii/#739306"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/hulkwiipic10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-wii/#739305"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/hulkwiipic09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-wii/#739304"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/hulkwiipic08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-wii/#739303"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/hulkwiipic07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-wii/#739302"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/hulkwiipic06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/07/see-the-first-screens-from-incredible-hulk-on-wii/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First screens of 'The Incredible Hulk' on Wii</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/07/see-the-first-screens-from-incredible-hulk-on-wii/">First screens of 'The Incredible Hulk' on Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Apr 2008 17:30:00 EST. Well, <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/32352.html?r=1&amp;type=wmv">after watching this debut trailer</a> for <em>The Incredible Hulk</em>, we'll see your groan, and raise you an extremely disappointed sigh.<br /><br /> Throwing <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=rT4ttppTkVs"><em>Ultimate Destruction</em>'s havoc-wreaking formula</a> to the wind, the adaptation will apparently focus on our favorite lesser-known pastimes of the green meanie: moving very slowly, getting repeatedly knocked over, and being stomped on by robots. If this trailer is any indication of what we can expect from the final product, we think we'd rather spend $60 to have <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Ferrigno">Lou Ferrigno pummel us</a> for a few hours. We also didn't know who was developing it. The PSP edition is being worked on by Amaze Entertainment (<em>Shrek the Third, Eragon</em>). Movie tie-ins (like the previous titles developed by Amaze) usually suck harder than a wet/dry vac on max, but the last <em>Hulk</em> game was good, and we're hoping that trait follows <em>Hulk</em> to his latest outing. We'll find out for sure when <em>The Incredible Hulk</em> smashes into stores June 2008.</p>

Sega sent us a note, letting us know that the publisher is again working on a Marvel franchise, this time it's the video game for next year's <em>The Incredible Hulk</em>. They've announced that developer Edge of Reality - who are also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/26/cipher-complex-announced-for-ps3-and-xbox-360-edge-of-reality-sel/">working on the new-gen <em>Cipher Complex</em></a> due for PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year - are handling console development duties while Amaze Entertainment - known for recent licensed games like <em>Eragon</em> and <em>Pirates of the Carribean</em> - will be handling handheld duties. <br /><br />The announcement answers what Edge of Reality's <a href="http://www.edgeofreality.com/games_Mystery.html">mystery project</a> was and, considering Sega's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/IronMan/">Iron Man</a></em> game isn't looking <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/27/first-footage-of-segas-iron-man-with-developer-walkthrough/">too shabby</a> and Hulk has had some video game <a href="http://gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/925675.asp?q=hulk">success</a> previously, we're more hopeful than we might otherwise be. <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=15069">According</a> to a Sega representative, the game "will be released in the same timeframe as the film," due to smash theaters on June 13, 2008.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/11/sega-reveals-the-incredible-hulk-development-teams/">Sega reveals The Incredible Hulk development teams</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 11 Aug 2007 17:25:00 EST. With that in mind, SEGA has announced a deal with Marvel to bring games featuring their beloved characters to PC, next-gen consoles and handhelds. But what can I say that SEGA PR can't say better? Here's what SEGA US president Simon Jeffery said:<br /><br />"As SEGA continues to create more games that are built from the ground up to appeal to Western audiences it makes perfect sense to work with a powerhouse company like Marvel that has established and beloved characters like The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor. These are icons that people are already familiar with and love, so our goal is to give gamers the ability to play out their fantasies by actually becoming these Super Heroes."<br /><br />I think I'm personally looking forward to a <em>Thor </em>game the most, if for only because he hasn't hit the gaming space quite as often as the other heroes. How about you? Which of these Marvel characters would you most like to play with on your PSP?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://psp.ign.com/articles/781/781452p1.html">IGN</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/18/sega-bringing-marvels-hulk-iron-man-thor-and-captain-america/">SEGA bringing Marvel's Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America to games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Apr 2007 15:30:00 EST. "Video games are more exciting, more colorful and more complex than motion pictures," says Lee, ""In a movie, you just sit and watch. [In a game] you're not only seeing the story but you're participating in the story."<br /><br />Despite Lee's enthusiasm for the games medium, he admits he doesn't have the time or the skill to play video games. Lee is certainly not alone, which explains why Marvel movies have grossed billions of dollars, while the games have managed only hundreds of millions in sales (hardly insignificant, but nonetheless paled by the film industry's results). Still, Lee remains optimistic about the future dominance of Marvel games, hoping to become more involved with game makers' efforts by contributing to the content and narration of future titles.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/19/stan-lee-games-trump-movies/">Stan Lee: games trump movies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Jan 2007 17:55:00 EST. Microsoft and Cryptic Studios haven't included any gameplay sequences, but the extended CGI clip teases us with the usual suspects from the House of Ideas. Everyone seems to be grabbing a piece of the Marvel pie these days, with Activision handling the <em>Spider-Man</em>, <em>X-Men Legends</em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/18/marvel-ultimate-producer-interviewed/"><em>Ultimate Alliance</em></a> games, and EA attempting to rebound from the dreadful <em>Nemesis</em> fighter. <br /><br />Read <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/27/city-of-heroes-ii-the-marvel-universe/">more</a> about how Marvel and <em>City of Heroes</em> developer Cryptic decided to play nice in the IP sandbox.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/29/marvel-universe-online-trailer-update/">Marvel Universe Online trailer update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 Sep 2006 15:05:00 EST. <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/psp/rpg/jeannedarc/news.html?sid=6158302&amp;mode=recent">Gamespot</a> has just went hands on with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/jeanne-darc/" target="_self">Jean D'Arc</a>, </em>the strategy RPG based on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_of_arc">Joan of Arc</a>, at the Tokyo Games Show.<br />
<br />
Although they couldn't read a lick of any text due to the game being in all Japanese, they did play enough to tell the main game will be similar to other grid-based games, like <a href="http://www.nisamerica.com/">Nippon Ichi's</a> insane library of great SRPGs.<br />
<br />
One aspect of the game that seems pretty interesting is when Jean receives damage, she, at times, will take a page out of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulk_%28comics%29">Hulk's</a> book by transforming into superpowerful Jean and inflicting major damage upon her enemies. After a few turns, Jean returns back to her normal self.<br />
<br />
They go on to say all the basic elements of an SRPG are here and graphically, is much better than any other similar game on the PSP to date. Unfortunately for us, there's no definitive information on whether we'll get this game stateside. Keep your fingers crossed boys and girls.<br />

Paul discussed the creative process he and Marvel games writer C. B.
