The games observed, which include 24: The Game, Call of Duty 4 and 5 (we assume they meant Modern Warfare 2) and Metal Gear Solid, were largely panned for allowing the player to simply ignore the Geneva Convention's statutes.

According to a BBC report on the study, the two groups explained that while players of these titles may never become soldiers, these war crime violations could "influence what people believe war is like and how soldiers conduct themselves in the real world."

In short, you should feel bad about your recent airport murder spree in Modern Warfare 2. Not for the moral implications of killing dozens and dozens of innocent people, mind you -- but because it was against the rules.

Remember Jose Luis, Jr.? You know, the PSP-obsessed boy who inspired a fundraiser to get him his own PlayStation Portable? Mister Jalopy of the Hoopty Rides weblog, the Good Samaritan who met Junior and became inspired by him, had his peepers and a camera handy when he finally turned over the console to who was to become one very happy gamer. An amusing side story is Mr. J, most likely in the spirit of moral decency and responsibility, made it a point to thoroughly explain to Junior's mother what the ESRB rating system was and, more importantly, what sort of stuff actually goes on in a game like GTA:LCS (Junior's other obsession). Let's just say that at the end of the day, the kid went home with a copy of PoPoLoCrois.
