But <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/lego-batman-2-dc-super-heroes/">Lego Batman 2: DC Super Hereoes</a></em> is looking to be different, featuring <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/15/exploring-an-open-world-gotham-in-lego-batman-2-dc-super-heroes/">an open world</a> and the borderline blasphemy of talking Lego characters. The release of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city"><em>Batman: Arkham City</em></a> this week marks a nice success for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a division of the movie studio that started out with the less than popular <em>The Matrix Online</em>, and has slowly built up an empire that includes the <em>Batman</em> franchise, the <em>Lego </em>video games, and the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> series. The LA Times has <a href="http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-1018-ct-warner-interactive-20111018,0,7733264.story">a short profile of the company</a>, and goes into detail on how it worked with studios like Traveller's Tales and Netherrealm to build up popular video game franchises that stand on their own even compared to the movie products.<br />
<br />
That's not to say that the plan always works (remember <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/green-lantern-rise-of-the-manhunters">the <em>Green Lantern</em> game</a>?), but Warner Bros. seems to have built up a few solid properties independent of tie-in movies. The next, then, is apparently a <em>Hobbit</em> game -- the article says there will be a game based on <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903624/">Peter Jackson's movie</a> sometime next year. The company will also release a <em>Lego Batman </em>sequel, and some other casual online games featuring Warner characters.<br />
<br />
Oh, and there's one more: an unannounced game based on a different DC superhero. Has anyone else been J'onzzing for a Martian Manhunter escapade?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/19/warner-bros-interactive-entertainment-talks-strategy-new-hobbi/">Warner Bros. <br />
In the announcement of the renewed deal, WBIE notes that the <em>Lego</em> series, including <em>Star Wars, Indiana Jones,</em> and <em>Batman </em>games (<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/lego-rock-band"><em>Lego Rock Band</em></a> isn't mentioned for some reason), has sold "close to 50 million units worldwide." TT Games, purveyors of blocky entertainment the world over, has managed to get copies of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/leg-batman"><em>Lego Batman</em></a> into one million UK homes. Rather then employ the controversial "throw it through their front windows" approach, the company has instead adopted a "put it on store shelves and see if they'll buy it" tactic. On paper, the accomplishment of enticing one million UK citizens into <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/lego-batman--the-videogame-one-million-copies-now-shifted-in-the-uk-since-2008-s-launch">buying the game</a> may seem like a great victory for the caped crusader and his young ward, but there are a few caveats.<br />
<br />
For one, <em>Lego Batman</em> is on about every system known to man. We're pretty sure we have a ColecoVision copy sitting around here somewhere, so its availability across almost every platform ever has contributed to its ability to get into gamers' hands. Second, there's the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/29/xbox-360-elite-holiday-2009-bundle-shipping-today/">Xbox 360 bundle</a> to consider, which managed to sell the game to some people who may not have particularly been in the market for it. Finally, the game released in late 2008 and the initially impressive feat is somewhat dulled by the fact it's had about 15 months to get to the coveted seven figure mark. <br />
<br />
Still, congratulations are in order. Everyone who's tried TT Games' adaptation of the tale of Bruce Wayne has walked away <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/24/metareview-lego-batman/">generally pleased</a>, so we raise a Batarang in celebration for the UK-based developer. We only have one question: <em>where's Falcone?</em> No, seriously, where is he? He was nowhere to be found in the game!<br />

In fact, the company is even promoting a special <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/iptv">IPTV</a> Xbox 360 bundle there, which includes an Elite console, 12 months of subscription for Xbox Live Gold and four games <span style="font-style: italic;">-- </span><em>Lego Batman</em>, <em>Pure</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable 2</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> -- all for &euro;259 (about $375).<br />
<br />
The Vodafone Casa TV service not only lets you watch on-demand TV through your Xbox 360, but also grants Portuguese patrons the ability to access content from their set-top boxes and set times for their set-top box to record live television. While users won't be able to directly record content to their Xbox 360, they can still access certain functions of the console while streaming content, including private chat and accepting game invites. <br />
<br />
Existing Vodafone Casa TV subscribers with an Xbox 360 can snag the software for a mere &euro;9.90.<br />

First off, we just want to apologize in advance if this post is the catalyst that forces you to wake up at 3 a.m. on Friday morning. Sincerely, we're sorry. But we just thought you'd want to know that GameStop will be offering some mighty tasty console bundles from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the day after Thanksgiving. For $300, you'll be able to pick up an Elite 360 with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pure"><em>Pure</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-batman"><em>Lego Batman</em></a> and your choice of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bakugan">Bakugan</a> </em>or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a>, which is sort of like Sophie's Choice, if Sophie had to choose between eating delicious pie or a rusty folding chair. Those same three Benjamins will also net you a 120 GB PS3 Slim with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet">LittleBigPlanet</a> </em>and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war-collection"><em>God of War </em>collection</a>. <br />
<br />
Now, keep in mind that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/20/joystiq-podcast-118-big-country-edition/">our friend Cheapy D says</a> you'll probably be just as well served getting Black Friday deals from an online retailer like Amazon. We know, we normally don't trust bald people either, but you don't have to wake up before the paperboy this way. We think the choice is pretty clear.<br />

While our mole may not be as prolific or mysterious as some others' we <em>do</em> have an inside man/woman who sent us these images of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/22/ars-mole-predicts-holiday-360-bundle-network-adapter-price-cut/">rumored</a> Xbox 360 Elite Holiday 2009 Bundle. With the inclusion of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pure/"><em>Pure</em></a><em> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-batman"><em>Lego Batman</em></a> the bundle certainly looks legit, and we think it's a safe bet this is what you'll be seeing on shelves this holiday season.<br /> <br /> Also: "It's More Fun Time on Xbox 360" is a very bad slogan. That is all.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rumored-360-holiday-bundle/">Xbox 360 Elite Holiday 2009 Bundle</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rumored-360-holiday-bundle/#2309845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/bundlepic1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rumored-360-holiday-bundle/#2309846"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/xbox360bundle2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rumored-360-holiday-bundle/#2309848"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/xbox360bundle3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/first-pics-of-xbox-360-holiday-2009-bundle/">First pics of Xbox 360 Holiday 2009 Bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Sep 2009 09:02:00 EST. We hope at this point we don't have to sell you on the validity of Ars Technica's mole. Whoever the guy/girl is, their track record is fantastic, after correctly predicting everything from <a href="http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/01/exclusive-microsoft-to-get-resident-evil-5-bundle-red-360s.ars">the <em>Resident Evil 5 </em>360 bundle</a> to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/26/rumor-ars-technica-mole-foretells-ps3-and-360-price-drop-in-fal/">price cuts the 360 and PS3 just enjoyed</a>. Now, <a href="http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/09/the-250-elite-microsofts-50-rebate-begins-now.ars?comments=1">the mole says</a> that Microsoft will be sweetening the deal this holiday season, packing <em>Pure</em> and <em>Lego Batman</em> in with the Xbox 360 Elite.<br /> <br /> The mole went on to claim that the 802.11n adapter Microsoft has confirmed will debut for $100, while the 802.11g will drop to $79.99. ... Yikes, $20 off a device that should cost $20 in the first place? It's difficult to imagine a property as insidious as <em>Lego Batman</em>. Go ahead, try. Labeling the game a "symbol of commercialized childhood," an activist group calling itself the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood has called out TT Games' cubic take on the Dark Knight. Wait, is this a joke? A riddle? A two-faced lie?<br /><br />The game was included among a handful of other toys as a finalist for the organization's inaugural <a href="http://commercialfreechildhood.org/actions/toady.html">TOADY</a> (<strong>T</strong>oys <strong>O</strong>ppressive <strong>A</strong>nd <strong>D</strong>estructive to <strong>Y</strong>oung Children) Award. Other playthings, including Hasbro's poop-happy Baby Alive and a Barbie tarted up as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, are also up for the dubious honor. But how many of these were also included in Happy Meals, one of the chief complaints of the Boston-based group? Only you can put the Caped Crusader over the top by <a href="http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/621/t/8558/questionnaire.jsp?questionnaire_KEY=723">voting for the "winner"</a>. Won't someone please think of the children?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/23/activist-group-finds-lego-batman-oppressive-destructive-to/">Activist group finds LEGO Batman 'oppressive,' 'destructive' to kids</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Jan 2009 08:30:00 EST. Did anyone else think that the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fracture">Fracture</a> </em>demo wasn't as abysmal as you were expecting? Sure, it was the epitome of mediocre third-person action with a gimmick attached, but at times it was almost <em>fun</em>. Well the full game is out this week in both the US and Europe and, unless you're a European lego fan with vigilante tendencies, that's pretty much it. Oh, except for basketball. <em>Lots</em> of basketball. Here's the full release list:<br /><br /><strong>US Games</strong>

A Bat-freak, you might say. From collecting comics and watching The Animated Series ad infinitum to camping out for tickets to the midnight showing of new Bat-films (barring the Joel Schumacher travesties), if it's Batman, I'll give it a shot.<br /><br />So great is my Batman fanaticism that I purposely skipped <span style="font-style: italic;">LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures</span> in order to maintain my anticipation for <span style="font-style: italic;">LEGO Batman</span>. The two properties may seem unrelated, but the truth is, I knew full well that despite all the Batman lore that Traveler's Tales would no doubt cram into a Gotham built brick by LEGO brick, taking in too much of the LEGO action game formula would kill Batman's fun factor quicker than a whiff of the Joker's deadly gas. As I predicted, <span style="font-style: italic;">LEGO Batman</span> is immense fun -- if you can look past the LEGO formula's reoccurring flaws that should have been fixed after the first <span style="font-style: italic;">LEGO Star Wars</span>.<br /><br />

It's time again for another Lego [<em>fill in the blank</em>] title from Traveller's Tales. This time the blocky series follows the Dark Knight and his ward as they attempt to recapture the criminals of Gotham City who've escaped Arkham Asylum. The <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/legobatman?q=lego%20batman">reviews</a> seem to either take comfort in the familiarity the TT Lego franchise has brought so far, or squarely takes aim at <em>Lego Batman</em> for falling into the same pitfalls that the entire series has been plagued by.<br />

The American Museum of Natural History is known for being one of the most prestigious ... wait, is that a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/1053690/full/">giant Batman</a> made out of Legos? Yes, the fine folks behind the <em>LEGO Batman</em> video game have somehow managed to turn the sacred Museum grounds into a carnival, filled with good ol' fashioned carnival games. Popcorn, hotdog and suspect lemonade were all on hand as kids and games journalists of all ages partook in all sorts of classics like, er, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/1053691/full/">whatever this game is</a>.<br /><br />Quite possibly the most attractive display at the event was this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/1053679/full/">mini-warehouse</a>, littered with various LEGO Batman characters. Quite possibly the most deadly display were the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/1053683/full/">cupcakes</a>, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/1053689/full/">not-so-edible</a> Batman and Joker characters on top. (We found out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/1053681/full/">hard way</a>. Ouch.)<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/">LEGO Batman launch party</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/#1053691"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/img_1559_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/#1053690"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/img_1557_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/#1053689"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/img_1555_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/#1053688"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/img_1558_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lego-batman-launch-party/#1053687"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/img_1563_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/24/lego-batman-launch-event-transforms-museum-of-natural-history-in/">LEGO Batman launch event transforms Museum of Natural History into carnival</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Sep 2008 11:25:00 EST. Not only are there dozens -- well, almost <em>two</em> dozen -- games slated for release in the U.S. this week, but included in the list are a few particularly interesting titles. <em>Kirby Super Star Ultra</em>, though announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/ds-library-plumps-up-before-e3-kirby-and-millionheir/">some time ago</a>, comes seemingly out of nowhere after some recent <a href="http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/09/video-nintendo.html">wacky promotions</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/10/my-japanese-coach-needs-a-release-date-coach/"><em>My Japanese Coach</em></a> finally makes it to shelves (we hope).<br />

We've got five (count 'em, five) new Xbox 360 games this week. Probably the biggest of the bunch is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/brothers-in-arms"><em>Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway</em></a>, which finally arrives after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/24/assassins-creed-bia-pushed-back-graw2-coming/">numerous</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/22/brothers-in-arms-hells-highway-delayed-into-08/">delays</a>. Aside from <em>Brothers in Arms</em> we have <em>LEGO Batman</em>, which we imagine will be an <em>awful</em> lot like <em>LEGO Indiana Jones</em> which was an <em>awful</em> lot like <em>LEGO Star Wars</em>. We question whether or not the somewhat addictive charm will hold out this time. To round out the week, we've got off-road racing, hacking and slashing, and ... um ... hunting. Consider the fall gaming flood postponed.<br />

It's almost like magic. The first day of Autumn hits tomorrow and the game industry intends to start the season as it means to go on. In short, by throwing game after game directly at your face until your wallet sits empty and your hands are blistered from constant gaming. Ouch. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so contact your local retailer if you're uncertain. Feel free to go on an import spree if you feel like it, but keep in mind that DLC for any game generally has to be bought from the PSN store of the same region.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/21/worldwide-ps3-releases-for-the-week-of-september-21st/">Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of September 21st</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 21 Sep 2008 17:25:00 EST. Warner Bros. boss guy Martin Tremblay loves <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/06/travellers-tales-talks-more-lego-games/">Traveller's Tales</a>. And we would think so, with his company having shelled out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/report-tt-games-sold-to-warner-bros-for-approx-210-million/">quite a bit of money</a> for the UK-based development studio. "We're very, very happy with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-batman"><em>LEGO Batman</em></a>," said Tremblay. "It's going to be the best TT game ever and will be our first big step in games for sure."<br /><br />We wouldn't go so far as to say that ourselves, even after we had quite a bit of time to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/e308-wii-fanboy-fights-crime-in-lego-batman/">check it out</a> back at E3. But, we will say that it certainly looks like a great game, as it contains a ton of options and replay value, thanks to its large roster of controllable characters and their unique abilities and skills.<br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=54498">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/warner-bros-boss-says-lego-batman-is-the-best-tt-game-ever/">Warner Bros boss says LEGO Batman is 'the best TT game ever'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 19:08:00 EST. <div align="left"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-batman/"><em>Lego Batman</em></a> is going to use his grappling hook to swing from consoles to television screens sometime in the near future. Traveller's Tales producer Rich Earl <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/20-minute-lego-batman-cartoon-in-works">dropped the news</a> that an unnamed studio is working on a spinoff animated show. Right now, it's a one-off 20 minute production, but they're undoubtedly looking to make it into a series. You've got Lego, you've got Batman... what else do you need?<br /><br />We wouldn't mind seeing an <em>Indiana Jones and the Mysterious Lego</em> show either. The tongue-in-cheek humor that appears in these games is perfect for animated shows, and it could prep young, malleable minds to become Robot Chicken fans down the line. Speaking of which, where's <em>Robot Chicken: The Game</em>? Curse you television, for warping our young minds. Now pass us that video game controller.</div>

Ever hear that expression "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/travellers-tales">Traveller's Tales</a> has, as the company has become quite the cash-earner with its <em>LEGO</em> line-up of games, so why change? "We've gotten started doing some <em>LEGO</em> games on the Warner IP... down the line," says Traveller's Tales' Jon Burton. Also, he wants to dabble in films and the like, while also keeping his "day job" in games development. What a multi-tasker!<br /><br />"And for me personally, I think further in the future we're making a kids' TV show... using some of the tech we've developed for games," Jon said. So, what kind of kids' show? He wouldn't name anything specific, nor would he comment on what the next <em>LEGO</em> game from them will be (well, aside from the soon-to-release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/e308-wii-fanboy-fights-crime-in-lego-batman/"><em>LEGO Batman</em></a>). Looks like we'll just have to wait and see.<br /><br />What kind of <em>LEGO</em> game would you like to see next?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/06/travellers-tales-talks-more-lego-games/">Traveller's Tales talks more LEGO games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Aug 2008 19:22:00 EST. Those of you who've seen <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/">The Dark Knight</a> </em>probably still have Batman in your systems, so hopefully news on the superhero in LEGO form is enough to sate your batty cravings. Warner Bros. is certainly trying to indulge in your wants by revealing more news about the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/e308-wii-fanboy-fights-crime-in-lego-batman/"><em>LEGO Batman</em></a> video game. <br /><br />Today, the company brings word of a new villain, one that Batman fans will be familiar with -- Man-Bat. Man-Bat is actually a scientist named Kirk Langstrom, who injected himself with a bat-based serum in order to gain sonar powers and aid his worsening deafness. Obviously, bad results ensue, and he turns into a bat-looking monster that attacks Gotham City. Fun!<br /><br />For some Man-Bat related screens, just click on our gallery below.<br /><br />
<br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/28/man-bat-is-one-ugly-lego-villain/">Man-Bat is one ugly LEGO villain</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Jul 2008 21:00:00 EST. We just got a press release sent in about some cool features at the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/e308-wii-fanboy-fights-crime-in-lego-batman/"><em>LEGO Batman</em></a> website. The only problem is, these features have not gone live yet. That isn't stopping us from telling you what to expect, though.<br /><br />First of all, there's a downloadable widget for your desktop, in the form of Batman himself or The Joker. Also, there's a tool for creating your own custom wallpapers, if you're into that sort of thing. Then, there's the usual: screens, video (the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/lego-batman-game-should-be-better-than-the-movies/">E3 trailer you saw already</a>) and other miscellaneous goodies. When I showed up at the Warner Bros. meeting room to demo <em>LEGO Batman</em>, I was excited, but also kind of reluctant. You see, the formula of these <em>LEGO</em> titles had started to show its age, as reviews of <em>LEGO Indiana Jones</em> weren't the most favorable. I was a tad bit worried that <em>LEGO Batman </em>would not be the game I was hoping it to be. Thankfully, my fears were never justified.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/e308-wii-fanboy-fights-crime-in-lego-batman/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>E308: Wii Fanboy fights crime in LEGO Batman</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/e308-wii-fanboy-fights-crime-in-lego-batman/">E308: Wii Fanboy fights crime in LEGO Batman</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 12:30:00 EST. There's something incredibly unsettling about a giant Batman (and Robin), made out of LEGO, designed to promote a <em>LEGO Batman</em> game. First <a href="http://www.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx">LEGO</a>, then <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/west_2.jpg">Batman</a>, then <a href="http://batman.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx">Batman as LEGO</a>, then Batman in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-batman/">LEGO game</a>, then a giant LEGO Batman made out of LEGO ... as we said -- it's unsettling.<br /><br />The <em>Joystiq</em> team at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e308/">E3</a> happened upon these giant plastic surprises while checking out the Warner Interactive booth. We're no strangers to bizarre <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/lego-mania-nintendo-fanboyism-combined/">LEGO creations</a>, but these structures defy all conventional logic and will probably create a rip in the space-time continuum. In short, we want them. Badly.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/giant-lego-batman-questions-everything-you-ever-believed-in/">E308: Giant LEGO Batman questions everything you ever believed in</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Jul 2008 15:45:00 EST. Warner Interactive's booth features both miniature and massive-iture versions of the <em>Lego Batman</em> characters. We first noticed that the check-in desk for Warner Bros. Interactive features teeny tiny Lego versions of Robin, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and the Joker on display. Nifty, eh? <br /><br />Well, apparently being a blogger kills your peripheral vision, so one of the fine WB show runners told us, "Turn around." Lo and behold, a gigantic version of the Lego versions of Batman and Robin, made out of... well, Lego. We wish we had the time, the skill, and the sheer amount of bricks to build things like these. Check 'em out after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/holy-us-rendered-in-lego-lego-batman/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Holy us rendered in Lego, Lego Batman!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/holy-us-rendered-in-lego-lego-batman/">Holy us rendered in Lego, Lego Batman!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Jul 2008 07:30:00 EST. At their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/engadget-and-joystiq-live-from-sonys-e3-2008-keynote/">E3 press conference today</a>, Sony announced a new hardware bundle for their still-running-strong PS2 system. The package will come with a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-batman/"><em>Lego Batman</em></a> and a DVD of the Justice League animated movie, all for $149. Not a bad deal, especially considering the system alone costs $129 these days. Sony also stressed the strength of the still-growing PS2 library at the conference, mentioned 130 games coming to the system in 2008, including <em>Yakuza 2, Force Unleashed, NCAA Football, Tiger Woods, Warriors Orochi 2, Singstar Pop vol. 2, Madden, </em>and <em>Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/new-ps2-bundle-has-lego-batman-justic-league-movie-149-price/">New PS2 bundle has Lego Batman, Justice League movie, $149 price</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Jul 2008 15:16:00 EST. <em>Batman Forever</em> and <em>Batman &amp; Robin</em> (OH SICK! YUCK! GROSS!) were pretty awful. Nay, they were horrendous. However, that isn't actually evidence to suggest the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-batman/"><em>LEGO Batman</em></a> game will be bad. In fact, the LEGO series hasn't had one misstep so far, with both the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-star-wars/"><em>Star Wars</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/producer-hints-at-lego-indiana-jones-sequel/"><em>Indiana Jones</em></a> iterations achieving exactly what they set out to do.<br /><br />The official <a href="http://www.legobatmangame.com/"><em>LEGO Batman</em> website</a> has been launched, and it immediately causes a stir of excitement. All the cheesy parts of the worst movies that didn't work in a live-action setting should work just fine with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/lego-mania-nintendo-fanboyism-combined/">LEGO</a> characters, and the site presentation is incredibly engaging. With in-depth character profiles and new videos (check out the awesome <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/lego-batman-trailer-shows-off-multiple-in-game-characters/">campy clip</a> above), you'll want to <em>piece</em> together everything you can in anticipation for <em>LEGO Batman</em>. <em>Piece</em>? LEGOS? Forget it.<br /><br />
<br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/lego-batman-game-should-be-better-than-the-movies/">Lego Batman game should be better than the movies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jul 2008 20:00:00 EST. It's great to see that this glacier-loving scientist is joining the cast for <em>LEGO Batman</em>. This miniature sized version of Mr. Freeze more than makes up for the horrendous rendition that a certain <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNaDZIrxh-0">California governor</a> had done once before. That was really awful. Anyway, once you've shaken off the disturbing, <em>chilling</em> images of Arnold then be sure to check out our gallery below for more shots of LEGO Freeze.<br /> <br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/lego-batman-gets-chilling-new-villain/">LEGO Batman gets chilling new villain</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 May 2008 21:45:00 EST. Gotham City's notorious crime-causing couple ... wait, wait one second. Did Riddler and Catwoman ever even work together? For those of you who appreciate who's on the other side of the cold, hard fist of the law in Gotham City, your time has come. Turns out, you'll be able to play as villains in the upcoming <em>LEGO Batman</em> game, allowing you to once and for all put The Bat in his place. So if you have a plethora of Dark Side points stockpiled, cash them in when <em>LEGO Batman </em>releases later this year.<br /><br />Oh, and there is a new trailer for the game. We've tucked it past the break for your viewing convenience.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/lego-batman-isnt-just-for-heroes-anymore/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LEGO Batman isn't just for heroes anymore</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/lego-batman-isnt-just-for-heroes-anymore/">LEGO Batman isn't just for heroes anymore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 12:00:00 EST. To say we were worried about this game coming to the DS would be an understatement. You see, we've had two <em>LEGO</em> titles on the DS, with one being <a href="http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/932109.asp">the worst game</a> on the system (okay, maybe <em>Peter Jackson's King Kong</em> is worse) and the other being a title that got <a href="http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/939577.asp">several good marks</a>. So it was a 50/50 chance in our eyes on whether this would be a flop or not. <br /><br />Thankfully, the same development team that handled <em>LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga</em> is also undertaking the task of developing <em>LEGO Batman</em>, as well. And it's being built specifically with the DS in mind, so the handheld game will be unique. "It's not a port, it's completely done separately," explains producer Loz Doyle to MTV's Multiplayer blog. "It's done at Traveller's Tales by the same team that did the '<em>Saga</em>' DS version, and they're a really, really good team. It's kind of the same but different, and there's a lot of touch screen in there."<br /><br />So, yes. It is now official. DS Fanboy is excited for this game.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/lego-batman-lets-you-play-as-villians/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/lego-batman-could-be-a-good-ds-game/">LEGO Batman could be a good DS game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 11:15:00 EST. As cool as Batman is, everyone knows it's his rogue's gallery that really sets him apart. Even the bad ones (we're looking at you Calendar Man) trump most of Superman's enemies (and don't even get us started on the Flash's). Given that irrefutable fact, imagine our joy when we read that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LegoBatman/">Lego Batman</a> </em>will allow you to play as members of that pantheon of villains.<br /><br /><a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/03/03/lego-batman-features-better-camera-original-story-and-villains-point-of-view/">This piece</a> from MTV Multiplayer also delivers another exciting secret about the game: The presence of Danny Elfman's <em>Batman</em> score. The article says that the arrangement isn't finalized, but we think we speak for everyone when we say, "Yes, please."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/lego-batman-lets-you-play-as-villians/">Lego Batman lets you play as villians</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 10:30:00 EST.
