The next-to-last day of Steam's "<a href="http://store.steampowered.com/early-holiday">Early Holiday Sale</a>" brings with it an eclectic collection of discounted PC titles, including last year's <em>Prince of Persia</em> ($14.99), <em>Battlefield 2</em> ($14.99), <em>Lucidity </em>($2.49) and <em>Guild Wars Trilogy</em> ($24.99). Also, here's a link to a Black Friday sale for a <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148413">1TB internal HDD</a>. If you've been following this Steam sale for the past few days, you're probably hurting for hard drive space right about now.<br />
<br />
Make sure you free up some room before tomorrow -- at 8 a.m. PST, the last batch of 24-hour sales will be announced. Stay tuned!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/29/steam-deals-day-four-prince-of-persia-lucidity-guild-wars-mar/">Steam Deals Day Four: Prince of Persia, Lucidity, Guild Wars marked down</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Nov 2009 12:30:00 EST. Writing in a recent <a href="http://lucasartsworkshop.wordpress.com/2009/11/25/lucid-learnings/">Workshop blog post</a>, LucasArts responded to complaints that its XBLA and PC puzzle-platformer, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lucidity">Lucidity</a></em>, can be "particularly punishing." A new update, which adds checkpoints in an effort , has been launched on PC and is set to via an update set to arrive on Xbox Live within the coming weeks. "We feel that there is so much great content in Lucidity that we want to open it up and make it more accessible for people to experience."<br /> <br /> Listen, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Lucasarts/">LucasArts</a>, we respect what you're doing here, we do. But please, for all our sakes, be careful. Listening to the internet is a slippery slope, one that ends in everyone hurling dung and racial epithets at each other. And if you don't agree with that, you're a Nazi.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/27/lucidity-update-adds-checkpoints-to-address-difficulty-concerns/">Lucidity update adds checkpoints to address difficulty concerns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Nov 2009 12:00:00 EST. While our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-live-top-ten">Live Top 10</a> posts are usually reserved for the endless slap fight between the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo">Halo</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty"><em>Call of Duty</em></a> franchises -- <em>Halo 3</em> remains on top, if you must know -- our attention was drawn directly to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> this week. <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/10/13/live-activity-for-week-of-oct-5th.aspx">Major Nelson</a> reports that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/south-park"><em>South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play</em></a> rests at the top of the most purchased XBLA games for the week, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lucidity"><em>Lucidity</em></a> -- which debuted the same week to <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/lucidity?q=lucidity">mixed reviews</a> -- failed to make the top ten at all. It's not a direct measurement of the title's early success, but it certainly doesn't bode well for LucasArts' original puzzle platformer.<br />
<br />
Based on the apparent success of <em>South Park</em> we have a suggestion for <em>Lucidity 2</em>: More cursing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/xbox-live-top-10-luciditys-success-is-unclear/">Xbox Live Top 10: Lucidity's success is unclear</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Oct 2009 18:15:00 EST. First, there's <em>South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play!</em>, which is a tower defense game based on <em>South Park</em>, of all things. Then there's <em>Lucidity</em>, an original puzzle platform game from LucasArts. After taking a quick jaunt through the trial versions of both games, we're pleased to say that both of them are quite enjoyable. See what you're in for in the latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla-in-brief">XBLA in Brief</a>, and then decide if either game deserves your 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($10).<br /> </span><br /> <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258410931/?of=1"><strong>Download the trial version of South Park</strong></a><a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/00000000-0000-4000-8000-0000584108f6?cid=SLink"><strong><br /> </strong></a><strong><a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/00000000-0000-4000-8000-0000584109e3?cid=SLink"><strong>Download the trial version of Lucidity</strong></a></strong><strong><br /> </strong><br /> [<a href="itpc://feeds.feedburner.com/x3ftv">iTunes</a>] Subscribe to X3F TV directly in iTunes.<br /> [<a href="zune://subscribe/?Xbox%20360%20Fanboy=http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.feedburner.com%2Fx3ftv">Zune</a>] Subscribe to the X3F TV directly.<br /> [<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/x3ftv">RSS</a>] Add the X3F TV feed to your RSS aggregator and have the show delivered automatically.<br /> [<a href="http://podcasts.aolcdn.com/joystiq/podcasts/xblabrief-lucidity.m4v">M4V</a>] Download the M4V directly.<span class="album_title"><br /> </span><span class="album_title"><br /> </span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-south-park-lucidity/">X3F TV -- XBLA in Brief: South Park, Lucidity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Oct 2009 16:15:00 EST. <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/10/05/this-week-on-xlba-south-park-and-lucidity.aspx">Major Nelson</a> has announced that the two games gracing Xbox Live Arcade this week will be <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/lucidity"><em>Lucidity</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/south-park,xbla"><em>South Park LET'S GO TOWER DEFENSE PLAY</em></a>. The first is a puzzle platformer from LucasArts with a positively delightful art style, while the second ... well it's pretty self explanatory. It's a tower defense game set against the backdrop of the famous, quiet little mountain town. Both can be yours in exchange for 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10).</span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/05/this-wednesday-some-lucidity-for-south-park/">This Wednesday: Some Lucidity for South Park on XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Oct 2009 15:58:00 EST. LucasArts' dreamy platformer, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Lucidity/">Lucidity</a></em>, has received an official price of $10 (<span class="album_title">800<img border="0" style="width: 10px; height: 10px;" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> in Microsoft's fantasy currency world). While the team behind the title <a href="http://lucasartsworkshop.wordpress.com/2009/09/28/price-confirmed-for-lucidity/">jested</a> with selling a single $3,000,000 copy and calling it a day, they thankfully opted to include all of us at a more reasonable price. And if 300,000 of us get lured in by the side-scrolling adventure, it'll work out about the same!<br /><br />Look for <em>Lucidity</em> on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/14/lucidity-to-shine-on-XBLA-PC-this-October/">October 7th</a> on PC and Xbox Live Arcade.<br /></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/29/lucidity-clearly-priced-at-10/">Lucidity clearly priced at $10</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Sep 2009 11:50:00 EST. LucasArts' new <em>Lemmings</em>-inspired puzzle platformer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Lucidity/"><em>Lucidity</em></a>, will walk onto Xbox Live Arcade and PC -- avoiding the trap of brick and mortar shops -- on <a href="http://www.lucasarts.com/company/release/news20090911.html">October 7</a>. Many of the game's developers are responsible for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/secret-of-monkey-island"><em>The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition</em></a>, which updated the adventure classic for a new audience.<br /> <br /> For those who missed the announcement of <em>Lucidity</em> last week, be sure to check out the first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/11/lucasarts-officially-reveals-lucidity-hiting-xbla-this-month/">footage</a> of protagonist Sofi's march through the game's beautiful dreamscapes.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lucidity-xbla/">Lucidity (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lucidity-xbla/#2276403"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/lec5643-image4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lucidity-xbla/#2276405"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/lec5643-image41_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lucidity-xbla/#2276406"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/lu_screenshot_level_040_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lucidity-xbla/#2276407"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/lu_screenshot_level_110_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lucidity-xbla/#2276408"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/lu_screenshot_level_230_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/14/lucidity-to-shine-on-XBLA-PC-this-October/">Lucidity to shine on XBLA, PC this October</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Sep 2009 11:30:00 EST. As you can see in the video above, it's sort of a puzzley platformer that has you manipulating objects in the environment in order to help Sophie (who's moving of her own free will, <em>Lemmings</em>-style) get from one side of the screen to the other.<br />
<br />
We're intrigued by the gameplay, but totally in love with the art style and calming soundtrack. Luckily, we don't have long to wait to hear it in full, as the game's apparently coming to XBLA later this month. A date for the PC version is still unannounced, and there's no word of an appearance on PSN.<br />
<br />
[<strong>Update</strong>: LucasArts sent over a much nicer video, showing some more gameplay, as well as a charming introduction, which you can see right up top!]<br />

Since he announced it in a 140 character-constrained <a href="http://twitter.com/geoffkeighley/status/3851030608">tweet</a>, and since he wants you to <em>watch the show</em>, there was little room for details beyond it being "original."<br />
<br />
We're just going to <em>guess</em> that the new game is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lucidity"><em>Lucidity</em></a>, the rumored XBLA adventure game that has yet to be officially announced. Of course, a <em>safer</em> bet would be "another <em>Star Wars</em> game." We'll all find out Thursday night, we suppose.<br />

It seems to mesh with what we know about the title ... in that it pictures a little girl and her grandmother. Presumably this would be from a non-playable cutscene, unless there's some kind of new "reading in bed" mechanic.<br /><br />If LucasArts <em>has</em> to make games that aren't re-releases or sequels to old adventure games, we hope that they would be <em>beautiful</em> like this. We're contacting LucasArts to determine the veracity of the image, and, for that matter, of the <em>game</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/07/is_this_lucasarts_lucidity.php">GamerBytes</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/rumor-lucasarts-lucidity-screenshot-leaked/">Rumor: LucasArts' Lucidity screenshot leaked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 14:27:00 EST. An inside source close to Joystiq has informed us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lucasarts">LucasArts</a> is bringing a brand new game (imagine that!) to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">XBLA</a>, coinciding with the company's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/breaking-lucasarts-classics-coming-to-steam-this-wednesday/">focus</a> on downloadable releases as of late. Dubbed <em>Lucidity</em>, this title is described as a kind of side-scrolling adventure ... with a twist. Instead of controlling the main character, Sofi, in the traditional manner, players instead place certain objects in her path as she independently navigates the gameworld. As she runs into these objects, she will use them to tackle whatever obstacle is in her way.<br /><br />The game will definitely have a fantasy element to it, as it supposedly takes place inside of Sofi's head while she's looking for her grandmother. Let's just hope there's no big bad wolf waiting at grandma's to gobble her up, though.<br /><br />Stay tuned for further developments -- or please hit up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/contact/tips/">our tips line</a> if you've got additional details.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/07/rumor-lucasarts-bringing-lucidity-to-xbla/">Rumor: LucasArts bringing Lucidity to XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Jul 2009 18:15:00 EST. LucasFilm, parent company of LucasArts, is working on a new video game, so says a filing at the government-owned <a href="http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&amp;entry=77739206">TARR</a> (Trademark and Registration Retrieval) website. The title is called <em>Lucidity</em> and it's classified as "video game software with manuals sold as a unit," which sounds like your average retail, disc-based game. Digital distribution or DLC seems to be a possibility, as it's also classified as a "downloadable" title. That's about all the concrete information we've obtained from this filing thus far.<br /><br />If there's anything else that would reveal more about the game, its title would be a good start. Let's see, what does "lucidity" mean? According to <a href="http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/lucidity">Merriam-Webster</a>, it is "a presumed capacity to perceive the truth directly and instantaneously." Ah, we see. That tells us ... absolutely nothing. Quite ironic, too. What do you think is being worked on here?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://supererogatory.tumblr.com/post/111376587">Superannutation</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/22/lucasfilm-trademarks-lucidity-game-software/">LucasFilm trademarks 'Lucidity' game software</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 May 2009 19:45:00 EST.
