But there is one attempt to make the system work better than other virtual buttons, and to redesign the controls in consideration of the platform.<br /><br />The on-screen "assist" and "special" buttons, used to call a teammate for a special attack or to launch one of your own special moves, can be "swiped" in four different directions, each one corresponding to a different attack.<br /><br />While the virtual joystick works about as well as most, and I had a predictably difficult time playing the game, this is a smart adaptation that makes the on-screen interface somewhat more usable for a complex game. At least it shows <em>thought</em> toward usability on a touchscreen.<br /><br />I realize I'm probably not exactly explaining this well, so I took screencaps of the help screens from the game. What doesn't appear to be present, at least in the screens shared by Capcom, are virtual buttons. As of right now the controls for this iOS release are a mystery. Unless the game is iCade exclusive, however, expect an adjustment period (perhaps an infinite adjustment period) before you get comfortable playing this on a phone.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-ios/">Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (iOS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-ios/#4976242"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/mvc21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-ios/#4976243"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/mvc22_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-ios/#4976244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/mvc23_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-ios/#4976245"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/mvc24_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-ios/#4976246"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/mvc25_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/20/marvel-vs-capcom-2-begins-a-new-new-age-of-heroes-on-ios/">Marvel vs. Capcom 2 begins a new New Age of Heroes on iOS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2012 11:05:00 EST. In yet another <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> deal, Microsoft is now <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Marketplace/Promotions/DecemberArcadeRebate/Home">offering a free batch of 400 MS Points</a> for purchasing two qualifying XBLA games. Don't run off downloading games just yet though, because you'll need to head over to the <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Xbox-LIVE-Event-Registrations/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802475207f5">Xbox Live Events page </a>and download the Arcade Offer gamer picture to register for the giveaway first (the direct link to the gamer picture is currently broken, but it's the first one listed on the events page).<br />
<br />
Once that's done, snag two of the games listed after the break (including favorites like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/19/review-limbo/"><em>Limbo</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/16/review-lara-croft-and-the-guardian-of-light/"><em>Lara Croft</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/09/review-monday-night-combat/"><em>Monday Night Combat</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/06/super-meat-boy-review/"><em>Super Meat Boy</em></a> and more). Within four weeks, the free points will be added to registered Live accounts automatically or sent as redemption code via email. If you're planning to pick up any of the eligible games, you might as well get some free points too, right? The promotion ends December 20, so get to it.<br />

Marvel executive vice president Ira Rubenstein says that the comics company has been experimenting in-depth with Flash games (not to be confused with games about DC's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-flash/"><em>The Flash</em></a>), and that it's looking to bring some of its most popular online minigames to console download services. The comic book company's strategy in terms of gaming was "like a TV pilot system," he told an audience at today's <a href="http://www.lagamesconference.com/">LA Games Conference</a>. <br />
<br />
The plan was to come up with lots of Flash games and <a href="http://marvelkids.marvel.com/games">deploy them on Marvel's websites</a> very quickly. Now, some hits are emerging (he gave the example of <a href="http://superherosquad.marvel.com/games/stark_tower_defense">the <em>Super Hero Squad Stark Tower Defense</em> game</a>), and the next step for the company is to focus on improving and supporting those hits on platforms like XBLA, iPhone, and iPad.<br />
<br />
Rubenstein says "the combination of classic gameplay with a brand twist" like that found in <em>Stark Tower Defense</em> is what's selling with audiences. And he says that big sales <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/04/marvel-vs-capcom-2-takes-top-spot-in-psn-sales-for-august/">like those of <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> prove that there's a space for Marvel games on the downloadable game platforms, so it makes sense to invest in Flash "hits" by taking them there. Which is fine by us -- let us know when we can pay our $10 for our <em>Deadpool Match-3</em> on PSN.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/30/marvel-planning-flash-game-adaptations-for-download-platforms/">Marvel planning Flash game adaptations for download platforms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Apr 2010 02:00:00 EST. For those of you thinking that Capcom's recently revealed <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-3">Marvel vs. Capcom 3</a></em> was born from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/marvel-vs-capcom-2-defeated-hd-remix-in-sales-battle/">strong</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/05/marvel-vs-capcom-2-tops-psn-sales-for-february/">sales</a> of last year's <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em> downloadable release, well, Capcom's Ryota Niitsuma has some learnin' for you. "We really started working in development in summer 2008. But all the contract and legal negotiations -- that came way before that, as well. So ... we started to produce this game before the success of <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em> as a downloadable title," Niitsuma told <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/captivate-10-marvel-vs/64652">GameTrailers</a>, speaking through a translator during an interview at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/captivate-2010">Captivate 2010</a> (found after the break).<br />
<br />
Notably, Niitsuma's timeline contradicts <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/capcom-marvel-vs-capcom-3-not-part-of-deal-to-re-release-mvc/">statements made by Capcom</a> last May. At that time, Capcom's Seth Killian told us, "What we're hoping is that if people get really juiced about [the <em>MvC2</em> downloadable release], and we can show Marvel that there's a lot of heat behind this, then they'll open up the door for us to do something with '<em>3,</em>' which is something we'd love to do." Boy, the things a company representative will say to guard an early-in-production title.<br />

Additionally, a Capcom representative clarified some details about the <em>MvC3</em> character roster for Joystiq: "We're not necessarily hyping the number of characters with <em>MvC3</em>, we're hyping quality. These aren't just sprites you can plug into the game. This is a full, disc-based release with gorgeous 3D models powered by the latest version of MT Framework. At this point, there are roughly 30 characters in the game, but that number will increase. You can rest assured that Niitsuma-san and his team will be working hard to include as many characters as possible before the game hits next year."<br />

<strong><br />
Original Story:</strong> There have been rumors swirling around about a sequel to Capcom's superhero-flavored fighter <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></em> pretty much since the game arrived 10 years ago. And given Capcom's recent success with a <em>Street Fighter</em> revival -- not to mention the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/05/marvel-vs-capcom-2-tops-psn-sales-for-february/">sales</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/marvel-vs-capcom-2-defeated-hd-remix-in-sales-battle/">rampage</a> of <em>MvC2</em> on XBLA and PSN -- the sequel rumor mill has once again begun turning furiously. This week's press-only Captivate event in Hawaii, held yearly by the Japanese publisher, is said to have showcased just such a sequel in <em>Marvel vs Capcom 3</em> for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, claims <a href="http://www.planetxbox360.com/article_10306/Marvel_vs_Capcom_3_is_Coming_to_Xbox_360_from_Capcom">PlanetXbox360</a>. At the same event, a sequel to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bionic-commando-rearmed">Bionic Commando: Rearmed</a></em> is alleged to have been announced, though no details were provided in the post.<br />
<br />
According to the report, <em>MvC3</em> will receive a retail release "later this year or early 2011" and will run in "full 1080p." Allegedly, while the full character list is unknown, some have been confirmed. "Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm, and a few others will be back; but the team behind <em>MvC3</em> have said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes," alleges PlanetXbox360. The rumored sequel is said to be a nontraditional 2D fighter, which suggests that it could feature 3D elements, as seen in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv">Street Fighter IV</a></em>. PlanetXbox360 claims we'll hear more about the title next week and that the game will be playable at E3 this June. When reached for comment, Capcom told Joystiq, "We don't comment on speculation and rumors."<br />

The PSN Top 10 sales charts don't look very different from <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psn-monthly">previous months</a>, do they? With the exception of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hustle-kings"><em>Hustle Kings</em></a>, the top 10 is populated with familiar faces, including <em>Mortal Kombat II</em>, which debuted on PSN nearly three years ago. <em>Marvel Vs. Capcom 2</em> takes the top spot for the month, likely boosted by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/18/capcom-offers-50-off-five-psn-games-this-week-marvel-vs-capc/">half-off</a> sale it had. With little new scheduled for March on PSN, it seems likely next month's list will look very similar.

While it's true that the high-rolling blogging lifestyle has left us out-of-touch with the needs of the unwashed masses, even the fat cats at Joystiq understand that everyone loves a deal (if only to free up some much needed capital for, let's say, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Joystiq-Publishing">chronically underfunded game publishing division</a>). <br />
<br />
To help lighten the burden on your wallets, Capcom is offering the following: 50% off a single PSN game every week for five weeks, beginning with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Marvel-vs-Capcom-2/"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a>. In total you could scoop up all five games for just under $30 and, since this is a 50% off sale, that also means you'll have saved just under $30. That's <em>math</em>. We've pasted the full list below for you to mull over:<br />
<br />
February 18, 2010 - Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for $7.49<br />
February 25, 2010 - Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for $7.49<br />
March 4, 2010 - Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for $4.99<br />
March 11, 2010 - Age of Booty for $4.99<br />
March 18, 2010 - 1942: Joint Strike for $4.99<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/18/capcom-offers-50-off-five-psn-games-this-week-marvel-vs-capc/">Capcom offers 50% off five PSN games; this week: Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Feb 2010 09:05:00 EST. We're guessing that the person at Microsoft whose job it is to choose the discounted XBLA games of the week is a <em>huge</em> New Orleans Saints fan. Filled with the overwhelming spirit of victory from last night's engagement, this person couldn't stop him or herself from <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/02/08/deal-of-the-week-a-week-of-3-fighting-deals.aspx">repeatedly hitting the price reduction button</a>. We're afraid of what might have happened if they were a diehard Colts fan. Can XBLA prices be <em>increased</em>?<br />
<br />
Fortunately, things panned out in our favor. During the discounting spree, three titles got their prices reduced: <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258410976/?of=7"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> is now 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10, down from 1200</span><span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />), <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584109d2/"><em>TMNT: Turtles in Time Reshelled</em></a> is </span>400<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($5, down from </span>800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />) and </span><em><span class="album_title"><a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258410982/">Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao</a> </span></em>is available for 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10, down from 1200</span><span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />). Now this, <em>this</em> is a deal. This isn't <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/18/xbox-live-faux-pas-of-the-day-free-2010-glasses/">Avatar glasses</a> or an episode of <em>Stargate</em> (seriously, that was yesterday's deal). No, this is a very good game at a very good price. Today, and today <em>only</em>, you can pick up <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> for only 560<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" />, that's seven bucks. That's slightly more than fifty percent off the usual $15 price. So yeah, good luck resisting that.<br />

Later, Capcom announced and released a port of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> over the course of a few months, with filters on the original sprites. Guess which one sold better?<br />
<br />
"We have three titles that have drastically over-performed our expectations," Capcom's VP of strategic planning and business development Christian Svensson told <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/christian-svensson-part-two-interview">GamesIndustry.biz</a>. "The most recent of which was <em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em>, which we didn't expect to exceed <em>Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix'</em>s numbers, but it has."<br />
<br />
One IP that hasn't quite exceeded Capcom's expectations in the west is Monster Hunter. The company is working to turn that around with events like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/capcom-schools-monster-hunter-tri-rookies-unsure-about-wii-spea/">Monster Hunter Tri University</a> designed to familiarize press with the workings of the series. "We are strategically investing in the brand in the West," Svensson explained, "because we know that as a company we're going to continue to be creating Monster Hunter content, so it behooves us to do what it takes to make it stick here." In other words, Japanese sales ensure that Capcom is going to continue making the things, so Capcom might as well try to sell them outside of Japan as well.<br />

Plastic peripheral powerhouse <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mad-catz">Mad Catz</a> has unleashed its <a href="http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/permalink/?ndmViewId=news_view&amp;newsId=20091110006525&amp;newsLang=en">fiscal 2010 Q2 earnings results</a> (that's the three months ending September 30, 2009 for us normal folk) and, while the company is still making plenty of cash ($21.6 million this quarter, to be exact) it saw losses of 16 percent when compared to the same period last year, where Mad Catz' net sales earned it $25.8 million. Its biggest market, North America, also saw a dip in sales this year to the tune of 18 percent; US sales have fallen nearly 20 percent this quarter, while Canadian sales rose 55 percent. <br /> <br /> When comparing its gross sales by platform, Mad Catz only managed to lose a small fraction of its PC platform business, while simultaneously building its PS3 and Xbox 360 revenue streams by ten and four percent, respectively, and growing its specialty controller business nearly 20 percent. The company did take a considerable hit in its Wii business -- sales dropped eight percent -- as well as in other platform markets, however.<br /> <br /> Citing what its key products were during its fiscal Q2 2010, Mad Catz obviously had a lot of love for Capcom, as several of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/limited-edition-mad-catz-sfiv-controllers-available-at-comic-con/">fight</a> <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-arcade-stick-mockups/">sticks</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/mad-catz-reveals-street-fighter-iv-controllers-accessories/">it offered</a> for 2D fighters were top earners. Aside from that, it pointed to its new line of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band"><em>Rock Band</em></a> accessories and some Wii items such as its Remote and z-Chuk as other successful ventures.<br /> <br /> While this quarter may not have been the best for the company, all signs point to it being a successful fiscal Q3 2010 for Mad Catz. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/madcatz-releasing-modern-warfare-2-branded-accessories/">its collaboration</a> with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2">the biggest game in the universe</a> and its venture with Capcom to offer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/22/mad-catz-kicks-off-round-2-of-street-fighter-iv-peripherals/">new fighting game stuff</a> -- the company also confirmed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/02/marvel-vs-capcom-2-fightstick-other-new-mad-catz-fighting-peri/">that <em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em> stick is legit</a> -- we have a feeling our next post on its earnings will probably have an image of <a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/73/BarksScrooge.jpg">Scrooge McDuck</a> in it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/10/net-sales-down-for-mad-catz-quarterly-earnings-show-rise-in-ps3/">Net sales down for Mad Catz, Q2 earnings show rise in PS3, Xbox 360 biz</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Nov 2009 21:32:00 EST. Microsoft had a <em>good</em> summer, according to the company's summary of Xbox Live events. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/1-vs-100/">1 vs. 100</a></em> reached nearly 3 million gamers during its beta season by Microsoft's estimates, and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Summer-of-Arcade/">Summer of Arcade</a> Xbox Live Arcade promotion enjoyed a reported 200 percent growth in revenue over last year's sales.<br /> <br /> While Microsoft has already relished in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/31/shadow-complex-sets-week-one-sales-record/"><em>Metroidvania</em> success</a>, a press release claims that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Trials-HD/">Trials HD</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Marvel-vs-Capcom-2/">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> also performed well in first-week sales; and both titles join <em>Shadow Complex</em> in the top five bestselling week-one XBLA games of all time. Sales were no doubt boosted by a cloudy economy that kept folks indoors and looking for inexpensive entertainment. Microsoft capitalized, too, by raising the average price of its Summer of Arcade titles.<br /><br />During last year's promotion, three of the five Summer of Arcade games were priced at $10, but this year, only two of the five were $10 -- the other three costing $15 apiece. (It's unclear if Microsoft counts <em>Battlefield 1943's</em> sales toward revenue growth; the $15 title was not technically part of Summer of Arcade this year.)<br /> <br /> Microsoft also saw success in its bold, new <em>free entertainment</em> department. <em>1 vs. 100</em> averaged more than half a million users during each of the game show's live sessions. According to Microsoft, the game's near "three-million" downloads within its 13-week availability places <em>1 vs. 100</em> within the top ten downloads in Xbox Live history. If we've learned anything on this gloomy fall morning, it's that people like summer gaming and Microsoft has <em>way</em> too many "top" lists cluttering up its offices.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/22/xbla-summer-of-arcade-sales-grow-200/">XBLA Summer of Arcade sales grow 200%</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Sep 2009 09:58:00 EST. Sharp-eyed Shoryuken forum dwellers recently spotted a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/02/marvel-vs-capcom-2-fightstick-other-new-mad-catz-fighting-peri/"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em> Tournament Edition FightStick</a> at a GameStop conference, and now <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mad-catz">Mad Catz</a> has officially announced the peripheral, which will be available for both PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall. The stick features <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em></a> artwork and, like its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/mad-catz-sfiv-fightsticks-in-stock-at-capcom-store/"><em>SFIV</em> Tournament Edition</a> cousins, is fully loaded with Sanwa arcade parts. The stick will be sold exclusively at GameStop, or online at the Capcom and Mad Catz stores. A price has not been announced, but it's likely the stick will retain the $150 price of the <em>SFIV</em> sticks.<br />
<br />
We now open the comments for the inevitable Happ vs Sanwa debate. Commence.<br />

Major Nelson has <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/08/25/live-activity-for-week-of-aug-17th.aspx">revealed the latest figures</a> for Xbox Live activity, which once again sees <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> being the most played Xbox 360 Live title. That's not to say it's all business as usual, as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/20/demos-for-nhl-10-and-dirt-2-join-lost-planet-2-and-mini-ninjas-o/"><em>Lost Planet 2</em> co-op demo</a> managed to claw its way onto the list, along with a new Xbox Live Arcade pair, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shadow-complex"><em>Shadow Complex</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/trials-hd">Trials HD</a></em>.<br /><br />Both titles made it onto the top two spots on XBLA's most played list, with Chair's <em>Metroid</em>-inspired adventure making its debut in first place. The remainder is comprised of usual suspects <em>Battlefield 1943</em>, <em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em> and <em>'Splosion Man</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/25/xbox-live-top-10-dominated-by-shadow-complex-cod/">Xbox Live Top 10 dominated by Shadow Complex, CoD: World at War</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Aug 2009 12:30:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">There's too much violence in this week's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psn-thursday">PSN Thursday</a>, so we've <em>nerfed</em> where necessary. For example, in the above image: that's Spider-Man giving Ryu a knuckle kiss, while Wolverine does an airplane impression and Iron Man practices The Supremes' "Stop in the Name of Love." There's a lot of add-on content in this update for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LittleBigPlanet/"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a><em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PAIN/">PAIN</a>, Cross Edge </em>and<em> Dynasty Warriors 6</em>, as well. You may not be able to get one of these sweet vinyl discs, distributed at Comic Con, but you can get the next best thing. Capcom will be distributing this <em>Marvel Vs Capcom 2</em> mix tape online through the PlayStation Network next week. We're hoping it will follow the footsteps of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/super-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-and-free-exclusive-soundtrack-c/"><em>Street Fighter II</em>'s soundtrack</a> by being <em>zero dollars.<br /></em><br />The soundtrack will be a nifty addition to any PS3, especially because <em>MvC2</em> is one of the few games that support the in-game XMB soundtrack function. <em>MvC2</em> will be available for US players later today. Make sure you're one of the first 15,000 people to download the game if you want free one month access to Marvel Digital Comics (a $10 value).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/marvel-vs-capcom-2-soundtrack-strikes-psn-next-week/">Marvel Vs Capcom 2 soundtrack strikes PSN next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Aug 2009 15:15:00 EST. Are you ready to be "taken for a ride?" You really don't have a choice in the matter -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><span style="font-style: italic;">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</span></a> landed on <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/08/13/playstation-store-update-13th-august-2009/">the European PSN</a> today, pulling any who dare to boot up their PS3s into her slavering, ever-addictive maw. Then again, if you're in the market for a bit of <span style="font-style: italic;">edutainment</span>, then <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/history-pack"><span style="font-style: italic;">LittleBigPlanet</span>'s "History Pack"</a> sounds like it'd be right up your alley. Or, maybe you just want to incorporate some bizarre MMORPG microtransaction elements into your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/madden-nfl-10"><span style="font-style: italic;">Madden NFL 10</span></a> experience -- you're set there, too. Man, what an all-inclusive PSN update!<br /><br />

Following a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/gamestop-lists-ps3-only-retail-box-for-marvel-vs-capcom-2/">GameStop listing</a> discovered <em>way back</em> in June, a <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/marvelvscapcom/go/thread/view/55141/18684839/PS3_MvC2_Retail_Release__Looks_Like_Its_Official?num=10&amp;pg=1">forum thread over at Capcom Unity</a> has confirmed the existence of a PS3-exclusive retail package of <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a>, with a moderator posting the image seen above. One forum dweller <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/marvelvscapcom/go/thread/view/55141/18684839/PS3_MvC2_Retail_Release__Looks_Like_Its_Official&amp;post_num=18#317774739">confirmed</a> most of the previously listed contents: the box does <em>not</em> contain a disc for the game, but rather a download code and some extras, including an eight-page color manual (that's seven characters per page!), 1-month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics and 2000 Capcom-Unity points. All this can be yours for only $14.99.<br />
<br />
Reportedly absent from the box is the previously listed media disc, unfortunately. Still, you get the game and plenty of extras for the same price, which is a pretty good deal. If you have the willpower to resist downloading the game the second it hits PSN, it's probably worth heading to your local GameStop. They should be on sale later this week.<br />

<a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/08/04/live-activity-for-week-of-july-27th.aspx">Major Nelson</a>'s latest battle report comes as a bit of a surprise as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> was the most-played retail game of last week. With all of the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> content, we were sure that game would be at the top, but Epic's title only managed to claw its way to fourth place yet again. It was bested by the usual double dose of <em>Call of Duty </em>action in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>.<br /><br />On the XBLA side, the frenetic tag-based combat of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em></a> was too much for the competition. Capcom's brawler enjoyed top placement, finally bumping down <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-1943"><em>Battlefield 1943</em></a> to second place. Coming in at third was none other than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man"><em>'Splosion Man</em></a>, Twisted Pixel's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/review-splosion-man/">excellent</a> follow-up to previous Arcade hit, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-maw"><em>The Maw</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/xbox-live-top-10-there-can-be-only-1-17/">Xbox Live Top 10: There can be only 1 (17)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 09:15:00 EST. Located at <a href="http://tu4ar.com">tu4ar.com</a> (click the Gamercards section), the site tracks plenty of relevant stats for the game, including total combos, total snapbacks, one character victories, rating, rank and, of course, wins and losses. You can also compare stats with another player, and you can even look at stats for the last twenty teams you've played, which will showcase your most played characters and more. The site is currently open only for the Xbox 360 version, with the PS3 side expected to launch alongside the upcoming PSN release.<br /><br />Frankly, we're just excited to prove that three Amingos is the best team <em>ever</em>.</div>

So, here's an interesting promotion. A press release just hit the ol' Joystiq inbox, claiming that those who buy <em>all</em> of the Xbox Live <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/summer-of-arcade">Summer of Arcade</a> titles will be treated to 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /></span>, also known as $10 in Microsoft's funny money. This calls for copy and paste!<br />
<ul>
    <li>July 22: '<em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man">Splosion Man</a></em> <span class="album_title">800<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10)</span></li>
    <li>July 29: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> <span class="album_title">1200<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15)</span></li>
    <li>August 5: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/turtles-in-time">TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled</a></em> <span class="album_title">1200<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15)</span></li>
    <li><span class="album_title">August 12: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/trials-hd">Trials HD</a></em> </span><span class="album_title">1200<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15)</span></li>
    <li>August 19: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/shadow-complex">Shadow Complex</a></em> <span class="album_title">1200<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15)</span></li>
</ul>
Just adding those up -- carry the one --- that's a free $10 for spending $70 on Xbox Live. Keep in mind it's $10 you can only spend <em>on</em> Xbox Live (or Zune Marketplace). While the deal might seem silly at first glance, it does essentially boil down to five XBLA games for $60, the price of <em>one</em> retail game. And, as another Joystiq editor pointed out, that retail game could never be <em>'Splosion Man</em>.<br />
<br />
It's a nice bonus if you already plan to pick up all the games. If you don't, you'll be saving money anyway. Everybody wins!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/microsoft-will-give-you-10-for-spending-70-on-xbox-live/">Microsoft will give you $10! It's our pleasure this week to remind fighting game fans that their spirits can, finally, find some modicum of peace. At long last, their beloved <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> will appear on XBLA this Wednesday, for <span class="album_title">1200<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> (that's $15 for those of you who don't speak Microsoft-ese).<br /><br />So, with which pairing will you make the worlds collide first? We'd suggest Mega Man vs. Dr. Doom, if only because we love pretending they're battling for control of the robot race. Yes, we know Dr. Doom isn't a robot. Shut up.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/this-wednesday-marvel-vs-capcom-2-takes-xbla-for-a-ride/">This Wednesday: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 takes XBLA for a ride</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 12:30:00 EST. That theme is apparently the battle of the "Mans," specifically Mans of the Iron and Mega variety. In addition to dropping tons of new screens and the montage video above, Capcom has released two strategy videos, one each for Mega Man and Iron Man.<br /><br />Granted, it's old hat for anyone that's played the game before, but, for those unfamiliar with the game, the videos offer a good idea of what's possible with different characters (particularly the Iron Man video). Check out the strategy videos after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-mega-man-vs-iron-man/">Marvel vs Capcom 2: Mega Man vs Iron Man</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-mega-man-vs-iron-man/#2155566"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/ironmanvsmegaman_psd_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-mega-man-vs-iron-man/#2155557"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/iron_man_air_kick_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-mega-man-vs-iron-man/#2155558"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/iron_man_beam_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-mega-man-vs-iron-man/#2155561"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/iron_man_colorful_kick_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2-mega-man-vs-iron-man/#2155564"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/iron_man_knockback_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/watch-mega-man-and-iron-man-duke-it-out-in-marvel-vs-capcom-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Watch Mega Man and Iron Man duke it out in Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/watch-mega-man-and-iron-man-duke-it-out-in-marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Watch Mega Man and Iron Man duke it out in Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Jul 2009 02:20:00 EST. Capcom sent out a little love letter letting us know that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> will hit, claw, blast and spin-kick the PS3's PlayStation Network on August 13 for $15. <br /><br />The release will occur <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/xbla-summer-of-arcade-2009-release-schedule/">two weeks</a> after the XBLA version. The aforementioned date is also the one associated with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/gamestop-lists-ps3-only-retail-box-for-marvel-vs-capcom-2/">rumored retail pack</a> for PlayStation 3, which costs $5 more, but allegedly includes a DVD with exclusive wallpapers, an 8-page manual, one month of free access to Marvel Digital Comics and 2,000 Capcom Unity points. We're checking with Capcom to see if it can confirm this now, as the publisher previously stated it "had no comment at this time."<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/marvel-vs-capcom-2-hadoukens-psn-aug-13/">Marvel vs. Capcom 2 hadoukens PSN on Aug. 13</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 12:00:00 EST. As if this Friday wasn't <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/10/second-dev-diary-for-dantes-inferno-is-lustful/">freaky</a> enough, Xbox Live's <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/07/09/2nd-annual-summer-of-arcade-kicks-off-july-22nd.aspx">Major Nelson</a> has alerted us to a schedule swap occurring within the "Summer of Arcade" lineup.<em> 'Splosion Man</em> has taken the July 22nd spot previously held by <em>TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled</em>, which will now release on August 5th. The only difference from this list and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/summer-of-arcade-returns-includes-marvel-vs-capcom-2-tmnt-mo/">previously announced lineup</a> is the absence of <em>Monkey Island Special Edition</em>, which is scheduled for release next week on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/discover-the-secret-of-monkey-island-again-on-july-15/">July 15</a>.<br />

The Capcom Unity twitter account <a href="http://twitter.com/Capcom_Unity/statuses/2550316126">revealed</a> something interesting this morning: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em></a> will be gracing Xbox Live on July 29 -- and Capcom PR separately confirmed a 1200<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($15) price. For those of you wondering about its arrival on PSN, Capcom promises an announcement "soon." Sharpen those claws (and those Hadoukens), because <em>it's about to be on</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/capcom-says-marvel-vs-capcom-2-on-xbla-july-29-psn-date-coming/">Capcom: Marvel vs Capcom 2 on XBLA July 29, PSN date coming 'soon'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Jul 2009 10:10:00 EST. Further clarifying reports from nearly two months ago surrounding the release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em></a> on XBLA/PSN, <a href="http://twitter.com/Capcom_Unity/status/2351164799">Capcom's Twitter account</a> is putting the game's digital release "closer to the end of July." Oddly enough, the statement claims to not know where the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/report-marvel-vs-capcom-2-scheduled-for-june-29-release/">rumor</a>" came from, though Marvel Entertainment's Q1 2009 financial report (sourced below) was clearly the culprit.<br /><br />In the month or so you have before the game releases, you should probably head over to <a href="http://forums.shoryuken.com/forumdisplay.php?f=100">Shoryuken</a>'s <em>MvC2</em> forums to find out how badly you're going to get stomped online. And yes, you <em>will</em> get stomped. <em>We all will</em>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.marvel.com/company/pdfs/1328_1241521292.pdf">Source</a> -- Marvel Q1 2009 Report [Warning: PDF Link]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/27/capcom-puts-marvel-vs-capcom-2-release-near-the-end-of-july/">Capcom puts Marvel vs Capcom 2 release near 'the end of July'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Jun 2009 15:00:00 EST. Of course, like other <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/patapon-2s-retail-box-revealed/">boxed releases</a> for downloads, there won't be a game disc in there, but GameStop lists a <em>bunch </em>of stuff that the box <em>will</em> contain. Basically, it's a Collector's Edition of a downloadable game. Oddly, there's no Xbox 360 version of this item.<br /><br />According to the product listing, the <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em> Retail Pack will release on August 13 for $19.99 ($5 more than the cost of the game) and include a redemption code (obviously), a DVD case, a disc containing exclusive wallpapers and other media, an 8-page manual, one month of free access to Marvel Digital Comics, and 2,000 Capcom Unity points, which are used on the <a href="http://capcom-unity.com">Capcom site</a> to participate in auctions.<br /><br />Capcom offered no official comment on this release, so this will have to remain unconfirmed for now.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Thanks, Alex!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/gamestop-lists-ps3-only-retail-box-for-marvel-vs-capcom-2/">GameStop lists PS3-only retail box for Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Jun 2009 17:29:00 EST. E3 was <em>br&uuml;tal!</em> If you blinked, for a <span style="font-style: italic;">split/second,</span> you missed something. Even if you were <span style="font-style: italic;">trine</span> to keep up, it was a <span style="font-style: italic;">blur</span> -- staying <span style="font-style: italic;">a.wake</span> like that, you only pushed yourself to the <span style="font-style: italic;">brink</span> of your own <span style="font-style: italic;">dark void</span>. That's where Joystiq comes in; to <span style="font-style: italic;">crackdown</span> on the madness; to <span style="font-style: italic;">reach</span> out ... with <em>conviction</em> -- phew! <span style="font-style: italic;">Crysis</span> averted.<br />
<br />
We've scoured the <span style="font-style: italic;">dark corners</span> and survived the <span style="font-style: italic;">inferno</span> to piece together this roundup of all things Xbox at E3. Why? <span style="font-style: italic;">Just 'cause</span> we love you. So, draw <span style="font-style: italic;">nier</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">shift</span> your eyes past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/">E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 11:45:00 EST. Although PlayStation 3 owners are currently enjoying an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/27/marvel-confirms-marvel-vs-capcom-2-coming-to-xbla-psn/">exclusive demo</a> for the upcoming digital release, Microsoft was showing off <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em> behind closed doors at this year's E3 Expo to promote the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Summer-of-Arcade/">Summer of Arcade</a> lineup.<br /> <br /> If you've played <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Marvel-vs-Capcom-2/" style="font-style: italic;">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a> in the past, you'll know what to expect. However, in our opinion, the game loses a lot of what made the original fun by hitting the XBLA service completely unlocked. Meaning, all 56 characters are available to players as soon as they click 'Purchase Full Version.' Part of the charm of <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em> was collecting points to purchase the insane number of unlockable items -- ranging from costumes to characters themselves. Sadly, from what we've played of the XBLA/PSN revamp ...<em> Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em> has lost a lot of its charm.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/hands-on-marvel-vs-capcom-2-xbla/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hands-on: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (XBLA)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/hands-on-marvel-vs-capcom-2-xbla/">Hands-on: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (XBLA)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Jun 2009 15:30:00 EST. If you're thinking the pending <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/report-marvel-vs-capcom-2-scheduled-for-june-29-release/">digital release</a> of <span style="font-style: italic;">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</span> is any indication that the path is clear for<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span><em>"Marvel vs. Capcom 3,"</em> think again. "The short answer is no, that's not any part of this deal," Capcom's Seth Killian lamented to Joystiq at a media event yesterday. "What we're hoping is that if people get really juiced about this title, and we can show Marvel that there's a lot of heat behind this, then they'll open up the door for us to do something with <em>'3</em>,' which is something we'd love to do." For now, licensing issues are preventing further developments.<br /><br />The same is true for a North American release of<em> Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em>. "It's a lot of 'dance with the lawyers' on that one," explained Killian. "The rights holders for <span style="font-style: italic;">Tatsunoko</span> in Japan are one company, but in the U.S. it's ... 13 companies -- and some are very attentive and some are not." So if you've been holding your breath for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">this one</a>, you might want to consider coming up for air.<br /><br />Killian also told Joystiq that Capcom is considering releasing <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2-</em>branded arcade sticks (&agrave; la the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/capcom-more-madcatz-street-fighter-4-controllers-by-april/">popular</a> <span style="font-style: italic;">SFIV</span> controllers<span style="font-style: italic;"></span>). "It's a discussion ... we would love to make it happen. If you saw the <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/14387838/Any_news_on_Marvel_vs_Capcom_2_Fight_Sticks?num=10&amp;pg=1">'leak'</a> of those MadCatz sticks, that was actually B.S. That was a complete fabrication, but it's something we would love to do."<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/capcom-marvel-vs-capcom-3-not-part-of-deal-to-re-release-mvc/">Capcom: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 'not part of deal' to re-release MvC2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 12:15:00 EST. In reporting its Q1 2009 financial results, Marvel Entertainment has revealed a short release schedule for its upcoming licensed products, including those that require the frantic mashing of buttons. Though the dates are noted as being subject to change, the fine purveyors of POW! indicate that Capcom's PSN and Xbox Live Arcade release of cross-company brawler, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a>, is currently set for release on June 29, 2009. <br /><br />A quick flick through our Official Age of Apocalypse Calendar reveals that June 29th falls on a Monday, and since neither Xbox Live <em>Monday</em> nor PSN <em>Monday</em> exist, one may speculate that the game may be due sometime during the week of the 29th. We've asked Capcom for further information, though suspect that we'll receive little more than a 768-hit combo of non-commentary.<br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong>Says Capcom's Seth Killian: "That's the first time I've heard that date, and so far as I know, it's not correct." It's Marvel vs. Capcom ... on release dates!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><a href="http://www.marvel.com/company/pdfs/1328_1241521292.pdf">Source</a> -- Marvel Q1 2009 Report [Warning: PDF Link]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/report-marvel-vs-capcom-2-scheduled-for-june-29-release/">Report: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 scheduled for June 29 release [Update: Capcom disagrees]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 08:15:00 EST. With a demo already out (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/psn-thursday-marvel-vs-capcom-vs-the-helghast/">exclusively</a> on PSN) for this summer's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> revival, we thought it would be a great idea to compare the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/marvel-vs-capcom-2s-graphical-options-compared/">three graphic filter options</a> in glorious HD video.<br /><br />Originally, our excuse for making the video was to play <em>MvC2</em> at work, but it turned out to be pretty informative. The filters -- which can be changed at any time-- start extremely "jaggy" in the classic mode, but get progressively softer on the eyes from crisp to smooth. In the end, the consensus around "the office" is that <em>MvC2</em> is so fast paced, it won't matter which filter you have it set to. But for arguments sake, which filter do you prefer?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/01/video-comparing-filter-options-for-marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Video: Comparing filter options for Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 May 2009 16:31:00 EST. The above trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> is just about the same as the trailer you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/27/marvel-confirms-marvel-vs-capcom-2-coming-to-xbla-psn/">already saw here</a>, but with one important improvement: Stan Bush's "The Touch." We felt this trailer just <em>had</em> to be posted, as Stan's melodic interludes accompany the snikting and hurricane kicking so well.<br /><br />So, feast your eyes on the above footage from the PSN and XBLA brawler, and if you're a PS3 owner, download <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/psn-thursday-marvel-vs-capcom-vs-the-helghast/">the demo</a> already!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/01/marvel-vs-capcom-2-teaser-has-the-touch-the-power/">Marvel vs. Capcom 2 teaser has 'the touch, the power'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 May 2009 05:00:00 EST.
