Figures are six inches tall, give or take, and feature an average of 25 points of articulation. No word yet on when subsequent series will be released or what other characters will be part of this initial run. Personally, we're hoping for a moose.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-3-connor-action-figure/">Assassin's Creed 3 (Connor Action Figure)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-3-connor-action-figure/#5621151"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/02/acmcfarlaneconnor01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-3-connor-action-figure/#5621152"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/02/acmcfarlaneconnor02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-3-connor-action-figure/#5621153"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/02/acmcfarlaneconnor03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-3-connor-action-figure/#5621154"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/02/acmcfarlaneconnor04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-3-connor-action-figure/#5621155"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/02/acmcfarlaneconnor05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/mcfarlane-making-assassins-creed-3-action-figures/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>McFarlane making Assassin's Creed 3 action figures</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/mcfarlane-making-assassins-creed-3-action-figures/">McFarlane making Assassin's Creed 3 action figures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2013 04:00:00 EST. The set includes a posable Master Chief, the cryotube (complete with realistic frost detail) and a pistol, and will be available <a href="http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=4575">in August</a>.<br /><br />McFarlane is also developing figurines of Master Chief, an Elite Zealot, a Storm Grunt, a Spartan Warrior, Cortana, a Spartan Soldier and two new enemies, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/14/two-new-halo-4-enemies-give-away-their-position-on-mcfarlane-toy/">the Crawler and the Watcher</a>.<br /><br />The cryogenic Master Chief appears to be <a href="http://www.spawn.com/toys/media.aspx?product_id=4575&amp;type=photo&amp;file=halo4s1-dlxfig_masterchief-cryotube_photo_03_dp.jpg">extremely similar </a>to the initial prototype McFarlane showed off <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/13/halo-4s-master-chief-steps-boldly-into-the-physical-realm/">in February</a>, which means we still wonder how he goes about turning his head between Madonna's cast-off shoulder pads. If Microsoft approves this prototype, <em>Halo 4 </em>will mark a departure from previous armor designs, which have generally offered more coverage around Master Chief's vital organs, and more mobility around the neck and shoulders. Because that's what armor should do.<br /><br />For example, the <em>Halo 4 </em>version offers a squishy black bullseye over Master Chief's heart, while in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> that area was covered in sturdy green armor. The bicep patches in the above design look large enough to carry your emblem of choice (unicorn), but not to stop advanced-technology bullets from piercing your skin as previous armor versions do. Also, he's fighting a galactic war, not practicing advanced yoga -- there is no reason for that much uncovered space on his hips.<br /><br />Microsoft will decide if this prototype is close enough to in-game reality before it launches in the fall as part of McFarlane's<em> Halo 4</em> lineup, which will include brand new weapons, characters and vehicles. This year McFarlane also plans to drop two new product lines based in the Halo universe: Micro Ops, which offers classic figures at 1:100 standard size, and Halo Avatars, 2.5-inch physical renditions of Xbox Live avatars.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/13/halo-4s-master-chief-steps-boldly-into-the-physical-realm/">Halo 4's Master Chief steps boldly into the physical realm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 16:30:00 EST. <br />
Video games are great and all, but most of us at Joystiq HQ still harbor a penchant for action figures, born from youthful days and being forced to <em>play outside</em> now and again. As we've matured, however, so has the toy industry, and action figures these days are way more awesome than the stuff we had growing up.<br />
<br />
Kids these days don't know how good they have it, either. The above video, for instance, showcases the state-of-the-art rapid prototyping technologies used by McFarlane Toys to create their hyper-detailed Halo figures. Back in <em>our</em> day, action figures took months to prototype, and we were happy about it!<br />
<br />
And another thing! Back in <em>our</em> day, the words "3D" and "printer" would never share space in the same sentence, let alone be used in conjunction with one another to describe an <em>actual thing</em>. Get off our lawn!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/04/the-making-of-a-mcfarlane-halo-figure-makes-us-feel-old/">The making of a McFarlane Halo figure makes us feel old</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 04 Sep 2011 15:30:00 EST. <br />
A couple weeks back, McFarlane Toys announced it would be producing <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=13664">a line of action figures</a> for Bungie's upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-reach"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a>. Nothing too surprising there, as most of us with any kind of flat open surface can attest -- you have lots of <em>Halo </em>toys already, right? Well, we hope you're ready to at least look at some more, because that's what this post is about!<br />
<br />
Kotaku <a href="http://kotaku.com/5472207/halo-reach-the-toys/">attended</a> this year's Toy Fair show in NYC today, where the preliminary packaging and prototype images for the toys were presented. The original announcement for the figures only detailed that we could all expect <em>Halo: Reach</em> stuff from McFarlane this year and well into 2011, but it would appear the initial run is being limited to Noble team (the Spartans the game revolves around) and at least one Ghost-riding Grunt. Hit up Kotaku for the images.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/15/mcfarlanes-halo-reach-figures-infiltrate-toy-fair-2010/">McFarlane's Halo: Reach figures infiltrate Toy Fair 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Feb 2010 20:15:00 EST. <div align="left">McFarlane Toys has <a href="http://spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=13610">announced</a> that it's making a line of collectibles based on Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer's forthcoming <em>Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia-movie">motion picture</a>. The movie's due out next May, and as fate (or marketing) would have it, so are the toys. <br />
<br />
The toymaker doesn't have anything for us to actually look at yet, but there are plenty of details to be had on just exactly what we can expect to be taking up shelf space at your local toy store / comic book merchant / Jake Gyllenhaal fan club gift shop. <br />
<br />
Unlike many of McFarlane's figures, the 4" and 6" mini-Jakes and pals will be fully articulated. We're not certain, though, if the promised "battle horses" will be as limber. A playset (yep, they still make those) is also in the works, as is something wholly non-action-figure: A replica Dagger of Time, complete with "disappearing sand," LED lighting and -- because safety trumps cool -- a "soft vinyl blade." If you're attending the <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/cci/index.php">San Diego Comic Con</a> and are a fan of all things <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a>, then you'll likely be excited to hear that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys R Us</a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mcfarlane-toys">McFarlane Toys</a> are <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=13570">teaming up</a> to sell the exclusive figure you see above during the show. Only 6,000 of these Grifball bad boys (or girls, because you really don't know who's under that 200 billion-dollar suit of armor) are being sold at the show, and you can grab your own for $15. We suggest making this a priority stop, as the figure features a<span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText"> Bomb, Gravity Hammer, </span><span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText">Recon armor, </span><span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText">and Sword Hilt</span>, with the latter two being pretty big deals in the world of spinning space rings, we hear. Also, 6,000 isn't a lot when you consider 126,000 people attended the show last year.<br /><br />San Diego Comic-Con goes down from July 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/">Griffball Spartan from McFarlane Toys</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474614"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_06_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474613"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_05_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474612"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_07_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474611"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_04_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474610"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_03_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/grab-your-own-grifball-spartan-at-san-diego-comic-con/">Grab your own Grifball Spartan at San Diego Comic Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 02:00:00 EST. McFarlane Toys has <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news3.aspx?id=13537">announced</a> that Toys 'R' Us, GameStop and an unnamed third retailer will be exclusively selling the company's new line of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-wars"><em>Halo Wars</em></a> figures early. The three retailers will begin selling three different 3-packs of the figurines sometime this month, while other retailers will begin selling the toys after the <em>Halo Wars</em> launch in March. Each of the three "First Look" retailers will have an exclusive 3-pack on offer, each containing three 2&amp;frac12; inch UNSC or Covenant figures. McFarlane announced late last year that each pack will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/10/mcfarlane-unveils-final-halo-wars-figure-sculpts/">priced from $9.99 to $11.99</a>. Find out where each pack will be available in the list below.<br /><br />

Attention collectors: <a href="http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MF18431">Entertainment Earth</a> has netted the exclusive rights to release this special edition <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-3/">Halo 3</a></em> pale-yellow EVA (Extra Vehicular Activity) figure. The $15 figure comes complete with needler and flare and ships sometime in April. <div style="text-align: left;">To compliment their already expansive sets of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mcfarlane"><span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 3</span> figures</a>, Todd McFarlane and crew just announced that they'll be releasing <a href="http://spawn.com/news/news3.aspx?id=13448"><span style="font-style: italic;">Halo Wars</span> figures</a> to retail beginning March 2009.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />The first series of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-wars"><span style="font-style: italic;">Halo Wars</span></a> figures are actually mini-figures, 2.5 inches tall (aww, shucks!), rotatable at the waist and sold as a three pack. At release, the first series will be comprised of four different sets including Spartans, Marine Infantry and Covenant with each set packaged with various weapons. You can get learned about all four different <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo Wars</span> sets after the break and view the work-in-progress figure sculpts in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mcfarlane-halo-wars-figures/">gallery</a> below. Do you have a painful itch to own both exclusive figures but will not be able to attend this year's Comic-Con funnery? Well, we have good news. The McFarlane crew are <a href="http://spawn.com/info/enter.aspx?contestid=106">giving away a set</a> of the Comic-Con exclusive <em>Halo </em>figures via Spawn.com and all you have to do to enter is register by July 31st. Then, if you win, you'll be the proud owner of both an EVA "HellSpartan" and a CQB active camouflage figure. Your winning odds are pretty slim, but for those who aren't attending Comic-Con (see: us) it's your only chance at owning the exclusive figures other than overpaying for them on eBay.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/22/win-a-set-of-comic-con-exclusive-halo-figures/">Win a set of Comic-Con exclusive Halo figures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Jul 2008 13:45:00 EST. Huzzah! And today we have a treat for <em>Halo </em>action figure fanboys, because Mr. Toddy McFarlane just updated Spawn.com with all kinds of <em>Halo</em> goodness. First off, the <a href="http://spawn.com/features/halo3s2/"><em>Halo 3</em> Series 2 mini site</a> is now live, allowing you to view each and every figure, view photos, download wallpapers and analyze each one in super sexy Quicktime VR.<br /> <br /> But that isn't all friends, because McFarlane just updated us on the <a href="http://spawn.com/halopoints/"><em>Halo</em> Points program</a>. <em>Halo </em>Points, for the uninformed, are included with each and every <em>Halo </em>action figure purchase. Buy enough figures, collect enough points and starting this Winter you can earn exclusive <em>Halo </em>swag. Want a <em>Halo 3</em> lithograph? You'll need 100 points. Looking at owning a red, blue or active camo <em>Halo </em>figure with Recon armor? Dish out anywhere from 200-300 points and you can haz Recon. There's even a gold Master Chief for 500 points. It's either time to start making some action figure purchases or time to take up the hobby of dumpster diving. Recon figures are way worth getting banana peel in your hair.<br /><br />[Thanks, TMD]<br /> <br /> <a href="http://spawn.com/features/halo3s2/">Source</a> - <em>Halo 3 </em>Series 2 figures<br /> <a href="http://spawn.com/halopoints/">Source</a> - <em>Halo </em>Points<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/series-2-halo-figures-and-points-websites-now-live/">Series 2 Halo figures and points websites now live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Jul 2008 21:00:00 EST. We've gotten quite a few questions about it recently, so we thought it might be best to let everyone know that the second series of McFarlane <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> action figures is now available. As before, there are a couple exclusives in the bunch, but the majority of the figures can be found in major retailers and, of course, at <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=halo+3+series+2&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">Amazon</a>. We opted for the steel gray ODST Spartan, which is exclusive to GameStop. You can find a listings of all the figures and where to find them at the links below.<br /><br /><a href="http://spawn.com/toys/series.aspx?series=417">Source</a> -- <em>Halo 3</em> Series 2 multiplayer figures<br /><a href="http://spawn.com/toys/series.aspx?series=416">Source</a> -- <em>Halo 3</em> Series 2 campaign figures<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/08/halo-3-series-2-figures-now-available/">Halo 3 Series 2 figures now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Jul 2008 20:00:00 EST. Yup, the same camouflaged figure <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/28/mcfarlanes-exclusive-active-camo-spartan-figure/">we talked about</a> way back in November. Each figure will cost $12.99 when they release later this year, and with each pre-order you'll be able to snatch up two figures. That just isn't how you create an action figure empire, you have to go after licenses like a foamy mouthed dog full of rabies and rage. And that's exactly what Toddy is doing, not only gobbling up the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/a-closer-look-at-those-guitar-hero-figures/"><em>Guitar Hero</em> license</a> but now the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> franchise as well.<br /><br />That's right, today Todd McFarlane and crew just <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/07/03/first-look-at-call-of-duty-world-at-war-the-action-figure/">announced</a> they are creating a set of four <em>Call of Duty :World at War</em> action figures that are (presumably) set to release later this year for around $10-$15 each. Included in the four figure set are some "highly detailed" figures including "Marine Infantry, Battle of Peleliu", "Marine Marine Corps with Flamethrower, Battle of Peleliu", "Marine Corps with Machine Gun, Battle of Okinawa" and "British Special Ops, Battle for the Roer Triangle". Overly long action figure names aside, we can't help but wonder what other video game licenses McFarlane will acquire in the near future. Our vote is for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/roogoo">Roogoo</a> </em>... we'd so support <em>Roogoo </em>figures.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/more-video-game-figures-from-mcfarlane-this-time-its-call-of-d/">More video game figures from McFarlane, this time it's Call of Duty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Jul 2008 11:30:00 EST. No, we still haven't fully accepted the figures seeing that we don't have any real attachment to the characters of <em>Guitar Hero </em>franchise, but we do now know exactly what each figure <a href="http://mcfarlane.com/news/news2.aspx?id=13394">will look like</a>. Viewable in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-action-figures/">gallery</a> below are the final sculpts of the Johnny Napalm, Lars Umlaut, Axel Steel and God of Rock figures. Not horrible (except for the God of Rock's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-action-figures/897079/full/">odd looking shoulder</a>), but we'll stick with our <em>Halo</em> and <em>Gears</em> figures.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/a-closer-look-at-those-guitar-hero-figures/">A closer look at those Guitar Hero figures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Jul 2008 15:45:00 EST. You have room on your desk, right? Right there between the Varia Suit Samus statue and Battle Armor Skeletor sits a space just begging to be filled. Now, McFarlane Toys, whose figs have more in common with plastic sculptures than actual toys, has announced plans to fill that space on your already crowded desk with figures based on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero"><em>Guitar Hero</em></a> this November.<br /><br />Already known for creating figures based on other video game properties such as <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> and <em>Halo</em>, McFarlane Toys has announced a manly lineup of four <em>Guitar Hero</em> personalities, each featuring 15-18 moving parts and a price between $10-15. The first wave of plastic rockers will include Johnny Napalm, Lars &Uuml;mlaut, Axel Steel, and God of Rock, while Casey Lynch and Judy Nails cheer lead the first wave from the sidelines.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-mcfarlane-toys/">Guitar Hero McFarlane Toys</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-mcfarlane-toys/#886718"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/guitarhero_lars_photo_01_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-mcfarlane-toys/#886719"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/guitarhero_johnny_photo_01_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-mcfarlane-toys/#886720"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/guitarhero_god_photo_01_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-mcfarlane-toys/#886721"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/guitarhero_axel_photo_01_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/27/mcfarlane-toys-casting-guitar-hero-in-plastic/">McFarlane Toys casting Guitar Hero in plastic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Jun 2008 10:00:00 EST. Odd, seeing that the <em>GH </em>franchise really doesn't focus on character development so our enthusiasm for owning a figure like, say, Johnny Napalm is kinda lacking. Oh well. The complete set of four figures (Axel Steel, Johnny Napalm, <a href="http://board.spawn.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8708744&amp;postcount=88">Lars Umlaut</a> and <a href="http://board.spawn.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8709130&amp;postcount=89">God of Rock</a>) will be available this Fall for around $15 a pop. And if you already glanced at the image above, you then already know these figures ooze bad-ass. <br /><br />The two Comic-Con exclusive Spartans include an<a href="http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=3696"> Active Camouflage C.Q.B. Spartan</a> and a super delicious Spawn inspired <a href="http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=3697">E.V.A. Hell Spartan</a> (preview pictures added to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-mcfarlane-figures/759573/full">gallery</a> below). And if you don't start drooling over the Hell Spartan then you either A) have no action figure taste, B) your <em>Halo</em>-fanboy'ism is lacking, or C) you have no soul. Anyway, if you're interested in picking up these two figures, make your way to Comic-Con sometime between July 24-27 that's being held at the San Diego Convention Center where they'll have both figures available (not sold separately) for an unknown price. Also, if you want to earn community brownie points, be sure to grab an extra Hell Spartan for your blogging friends at X3F.<br /><br />
<br />[Thanks, TOMCATS]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/mcfarlane-offers-exclusive-comic-con-spartans/">McFarlane offers exclusive Comic-Con Spartans!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Apr 2008 12:15:00 EST. And we actually have good news. If you recall, Toddy McFarlane decided to cancel all vehicles that were originally planned for the second series of <em>Halo 3</em> figures including the Mongoose. That bummed us out, because <a href="http://spawn.com/features/halo3s1/warthog.html">Warthogs</a> and <a href="http://spawn.com/features/halo3s1/ghost.html">Ghosts</a> are cool, but nothing is as sexy as a Mongoose. (Now this is where we tell you the good news.) We just learned that McFarlane reworked the vehicle lineup for the third series and behold! We have Mongoose! The third series of <em>Halo 3</em> vehicles will now include our lovely <a href="http://74.52.193.82/events/main.php?g2_itemId=97228">Mongoose</a>, a <a href="http://74.52.193.82/events/main.php?g2_itemId=97124">Wraith</a> and a miniature <a href="http://74.52.193.82/events/main.php?g2_itemId=97186">Scarab</a>. We don't exactly know how to explain or justify our infatuation with their new website other then just telling you to make the jump and check it out for yourself. They pretty much based the website's entire look and navigation after <em>Halo 3</em>'s menus and it's just so damn sexy. Creative and damn sexy. There's also new product photos, <a href="http://spawn.com/features/halo3s1/downloads.html">downloads</a>, information, 360 degree Quicktime VRs (<a href="http://spawn.com/features/halo3s1/cortana.qtvr.html">this is Cortana</a>) and the announcement of a new <a href="http://spawn.com/features/halo3s1/halopoints.html">Halo Points</a> program. We're getting a tad overwhelmed, so you'll just have to go and experience the McFarlane / <em>Halo 3</em> website hotness for yourself. But for fanboys who are saving up for Series 2 in June, they've been in the dark to what retail exclusive Spartan variants will be released. That is until now.<br /><br />Toddy McFarlane just announced, posted pictures (viewable in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-mcfarlane-figures/">gallery</a> below) and laid out all the details about their upcoming <em>Halo 3</em> Series 2 retailer exclusive figures. And yes, there are a bunch of 'em. Spread between five different retail outlets are six exclusive Spartan figures including a pink Mark VI, cyan ODST and brown E.V.A all of which are splendid and gorgeous. We've posted a list of all the Series 2 Spartan base and exclusive figures after the break as well as added photographic goodness in the gallery below. We're curious to see who'll be putting their manly guards down and head to D&amp;R Lineups to pickup a pink Spartan. Any takers?<br /><br />
</p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/11/mcfarlane-halo-3-series-2-exclusives-revealed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>McFarlane Halo 3 Series 2 exclusives revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/11/mcfarlane-halo-3-series-2-exclusives-revealed/">McFarlane Halo 3 Series 2 exclusives revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Feb 2008 17:45:00 EST. Gird your loins, because the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mcfarlane">McFarlane Toys</a> line of <em>Halo 3</em> action figures is on its way. Still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/02/new-halo-mcfarlane-figurine-arbiter-revealed/'">due to drop in March</a>, the snazzy-looking collectibles have already gone through packaging design, and X3F has <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/01/25/halo-3-mcfarlane-figures-now-fully-packaged/">collected some photos</a> of what to look out for on retail shelves.<br /><br />With war-torn backdrops, and minimalistic packaging (except for the bizarre "Cortana LIGHTS UP!" sticker), these designs were clearly made to show off the figures, and for good reason. We might just pick up a few Spartan soldiers for ourselves, to re-enact our favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> multiplayer moments.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/28/halo-3-macfarlane-figures-packaged-pretty-coming-soon/">Halo 3 MacFarlane figures packaged, pretty, coming soon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Jan 2008 21:00:00 EST. But this time there's a twist. You see, we don't have any new action figures to show you, instead we have the figures' finalized packaging. Which, we must admit, is just as exciting as seeing the figures themselves. We've thrown, erm, "carefully uploaded" all of the <em>Halo 3</em> series one figures' packaging shots in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-mcfarlane-figures/">gallery</a> below, including Master Chief, a few Grunts, a Jackal and a Cortana figure who comes with a light up base. Batteries probably not included. Give the product shot a quick look over and imprint their likeness into the back of your head. Because, come launch day, you'll need to know what to look for on store shelves.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/halo-3-mcfarlane-figures-now-fully-packaged/">Halo 3 McFarlane figures now fully packaged</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 11:15:00 EST. These new pictures look to be from the first series and are so close up that they showcase the insane amount of craftsmanship and detail that McFarlane put into them. Just look at these sculpts and the paint jobs and try to not be amazed. These new pictures further solidify our excitement and have caused us to take on the new <em>Halo</em> figure mantra; Joyride Studios who? Make a quick jump over to Toysdaily and give the up close and personal pics a quick look over. And be double warned <em>Halo</em> fanboys, Series 2 is just as hot as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/07/prototype-halo-3-mcfarlane-figures-unveiled/">Series 1</a>.<br /><br />Uploaded to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-mcfarlane-figures/">gallery</a> below is the final sculpts of the entire <em>Halo 3</em> Series 2 line of action figures from McFarlane that will release later this June. Featuring 18 points of articulation and beautiful paint jobs are Series 2 figures including Master Chief sporting a shotgun and spartan laser (yum!), the Arbiter, a Drone, an ODST soldier, a Brute Stalker and a handful of other Spartans. The Spartans pictured include a CQB in red, Scout in tan and an exclusive EVA in white that'll be available at specialty retailers. McFarlane also lists six other color variant figures (complete list after the break) as part of Series 2, but they're limited to select stores. Now it's time to prepare by clearing off the bookshelf to make room for all this action figure goodness. Who needs books when you have<em> Halo 3</em> figures.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/pics-of-halo-3-series-2-mcfarlane-figures-unleashed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pics of Halo 3 Series 2 McFarlane figures unleashed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/pics-of-halo-3-series-2-mcfarlane-figures-unleashed/">Pics of Halo 3 Series 2 McFarlane figures unleashed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Jan 2008 14:45:00 EST. What is newsworthy in 2008 is details about series two and good old Toddy came through for us.<br /><br />Over at <a href="http://spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=13282">Spawn.com</a> and posted in our handy gallery below is the first look at the Arbiter figure that'll be a part of the second series of <em>Halo 3</em> action figures releasing in June. Note the craftsmanship, eighteen points of articulation and the Arbiter's piercing eyes ... we're in action figure love. Remember too that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/30/mcfarlane-planning-lots-of-halo-figures-in-2008/">second series</a> will also include another Master Chief, a Drone, a few Spartans and a Brute Stalker as well. So keep your eyes open for "first look" photos of those over at Spawn.com in the next few months. We're saving up already.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/01/mcfarlane-showcases-halo-3-arbiter-figure/">McFarlane showcases Halo 3 Arbiter figure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Jan 2008 17:00:00 EST. Well, we'd hate to say "we told you so", but we did, because Mr. McFarlane is releasing yet ANOTHER <em>Halo 3</em> figure this May available exclusively from his website. <br /><br />Newly <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news2.aspx?id=13261">announced</a> today is a brand new <em>Halo 3</em> Spartan figure featuring EVA armor and active camo (ooo ahh!) This clear figure will only be available through Spawn.com pre-orders and we're led to believe that if you don't grab a pre-order by December 12th, you'll miss out on a chance to own this limited figure. You can see what the new active camo looks like in the gallery below, check out the complete details <a href="http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=3481">here</a> and get your pre-order over <a href="http://store.spawn.com/lotteries.aspx">here</a>. An exclusive McFarlane money making Spartan figure ... we told you so.<br /><br />
<br /><br />[Thanks, TMD]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/28/mcfarlanes-exclusive-active-camo-spartan-figure/">McFarlane's exclusive active camo Spartan figure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Nov 2007 17:30:00 EST. The action figure is <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news2.aspx?id=13261">modeled</a> after the <a href="http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/EVA_Armor">EVA Armor</a> and will not be sold in stores. Pre-order registration begins today and runs through Dec. 12, the figure will be available in May '08.<br /><br />McFarlane also produced a set of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/12/halos-todd-mcfarlane-controllers-and-wireless-headset/"><em>Halo 3</em> controllers</a> and a slew of other <a href="http://www.spawn.com/toys/series.aspx?series=369"><em>Halo</em> figures</a>. Wonder if McFarlane will come out with a <em>Halo</em> camouflage controller, which would consist of two clear pieces of plastic as the controller's body? Easy money.<br /><br />[Thanks TMD]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/28/active-camouflage-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/">Active camouflage Spartan from McFarlane toys</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Nov 2007 17:15:00 EST. The Steel CQB figure (viewable in the gallery below) will be released alongside Series 1 sometime March 2008 and like we said, it'll only be available at GameStop stores.<br /><br />Another factoid we found interesting was that the figure will come with removable shoulder pads, chest plate and helmet all of which will be interchangeable with other <em>Halo 3</em> figures. It's an interesting concept and something we haven't heard about, but we know we'll be buying all the variants to build a figure to look like our multiplayer Spartan. Kind of like a <a href="http://www.buildabear.com/">Build-A-Spartan Workshop</a> ... or not.<br /><br />
<br /><br />[Thanks, TMD]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/10/mcfarlane-steel-spartan-exclusive-to-gamestop/">McFarlane Steel Spartan exclusive to GameStop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Nov 2007 13:00:00 EST.
