The Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl is now available as a playable fighter in Injustice: Gods Among Us, provided you're willing to pony up the $4.99/400 MS Points required to download her; however, Season pass holder have already paid their dues. As we've seen previously, Batgirl's fighting style is a mixture of zoning capabilities and rushdown, rather than a carbon copy of Batman or Nightwing.

Two new costume packs are also available: The Red Son pack, which we've discussed at length, and the Killing Joke pack, which features new costumes from ol' Joker's finest hour. Both are available for $2.99/240 MS Points.

NetherRealm Studios has given us our first in-game look at Injusice: Gods Among Us' next DLC character, Batgirl. As we had suspected, this Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, rather than Cassandra Cain or Stephanie Brown, the other two primary Batgirls of traditional DC continuity.

Thankfully, Batgirl doesn't appear to be a straight-up Batman or Nightwing clone, though there are some unavoidable similarities due to the nature of the characters' shared training. Regardless, Batgirl's grapple teleport and stun abilities should prove interesting against heavily ranged characters like Deathstroke.

The Joker's tropical vacation garb is a reference to an outfit worn by the character in 1988's Batman: The Killing Joke, which is covered briefly in this trailer. We assume Killing Joke Joker will be part of a costume pack released alongside Batgirl, as was the case with Lobo.

Evolution Championship Series co-founder Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar announced that NetherRealm Studios' DC superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us is now a featured game in EVO 2013's official tournament lineup, joining big-name favorites like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition.

More good news arrived for Injustice fans today, in the form of a release window for the Wii U version's downloadable content. Responding to fan questions, the game's official Twitter account revealed that Wii U users will see its first round of DLC for the superhero and villain brawler this summer.

Wii U players were previously left out in the cold as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners tussled with newcomer Lobo earlier this week. NetherRealm did not detail if the Wii U plans include additional costumes currently exclusive to Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Injustice.

Batgirl is next up in NetherRealm's DLC release schedule. Two more as-of-yet unannounced characters will join Injustice's roster at a later date.

The first add-on character for NetherRealm's Injustice: Gods Among Us is available for download today. Lobo is an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, known for his love of space-cycles and cigars.

Lobo is free to download for all Season Pass owners; everyone else pays 400 MS Points ($5) to add him to the roster. Lobo is the first of four planned DLC characters, soon to be followed by Batgirl.

Three new DLC packs are also available for Injustice: Gods Among Us. The Teen Titans pack slaps alternate costumes on Cyborg, Raven and Deathstroke, while the Bad Girls pack groups together alternate versions of Catwoman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn - both are 240 MS Points ($3).

Finally, the Flashpoint collection, previously exclusive to Season Pass holders, dresses up Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Deathstroke in their alternate dimension "Flashpoint" ensembles for 320 MS Points ($4).

Sure, technically Lobo should win this fight, but something about Batman losing to The Main Man just doesn't feel right. At any rate, this trailer represents our first look at Injustice: Gods Among Us' first DLC character in action, showcasing Lobo's ranged chain whip/hook attacks, sawed-off shotgun and appropriately disrespectful super.

This trailer also shows off a new Batman skin, specifically one based on the version Batman from the Flashpoint universe - Bruce's father Thomas Wayne, rather than Bruce himself. We've emailed Warner Bros. about the release window for Lobo and the new costume, and we figure more information will be available after an elaborate series of cross-franchise plot arcs and retcons.

Update: NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon has announced on Twitter that Lobo will be available on May 7. No further information regarding Batman's new outfit has surfaced.

But no, it is exciting, because BioShock Infinite's three week reign of terror is finally over, all thanks to the brave efforts of Injustice: Gods Among Us. NetherRealm's superhero brawler becomes the ninth new game to take the UK top spot this year, and ousts Infinite into the runner-up position for the first time.

That means another run comes to an end; Tomb Raider's six week run in the top two is done, although it's still going strong in fourth. Beating it to an impressive third is new release Fire Emblem: Awakening, the 3DS RPG looking to continue the series-best sales it posted in North America. One thing Europe got that North America didn't was the game's snazzy blue 3DS XL, and that seems to be a hit in the UK; 31 percent of the XL's sales this week came from the bundle, boosting the XL's sales by nearly half over the previous week.

Its dark thematic overtones and mature ideas explore the psychological dangers of power, the temptations of absolute authority and the effects of grief on the psyche of metahumans, all while delivering a polished, thrilling fighting game experience. No, really.

NetherRealm Studios has finally gotten around to admitting that Killer Frost and Ares are part of the Injustice: Gods Among Us roster, rather than letting a tweet and some Xbox Live Marketplace items hog all the fun.

As the above trailer shows, Killer Frost predictably has more than a little in common with Sub-Zero, what with the ice powers and everything, though her abilities widely seem far more interesting than ol' Subs'. In fact, Killer Frost does the sorts of things it always seemed like Sub-Zero should have been doing, what with the icicle impalement and the freezing touch and whatnot. Meanwhile, Ares sounds like Dark Helmet from Spaceballs and has the ability to summon a multitude of different weapons, as one might expect from the god of war.

In related news, NetherRealm Studios also unveiled an alternate Batman costume based on Batman Beyond, which can be seen after the break. We're not saying it makes us desperately pine for a full Batman Beyond game or anything, but we are going to go watch the show on Netflix and cry for hours and hours.

Killer Frost and Ares first showed up on the radar two days ago, when Xbox Live Marketplace Avatar items hinted at their inclusion.

Of the many offerings available (Wonder Woman/Superman/Batman logo shirts, etc), the costumes for Killer Frost and Ares seen above are by far the most interesting, since those characters haven't been announced for the game.

Considering that every other available costume is for one of the game's many playable characters, we feel safe in assuming that Ares and Killer Frost haven't been thrown in for giggles. More likely, these two villains are either unlockable fighters, or future DLC. We've reached out to NetherRealm studios for more information and will update with anything we learn.

As seen in the solitary screenshot above, Black Adam shares Shazam's lightning-bolt motif, which makes sense considering that they were both given their powers by the same wizard, who was also named "Shazam." Additionally, Black Adam has to say "Shazam!" in order to activate his magical powers, which embody aspects of the Egyptian gods Shu, Heru, Amon, Zehuti, Aton and Mehen, or S.H.A.Z.A.M. Comic books, everybody.

As seen in her debut trailer (once available here, since vanished), Raven's abilities are just as floaty and mystical as one would expect, with quick, swiping melee attacks and what appears to be an alternate/evil stance with limited teleportation capabilities. Raven's big, scary, four-eyed father also makes a brief appearance during her fittingly insane super, and if you're familiar enough with her story to know his name, you're also familiar enough to be upset about her outfit and chin.

Doomsday, the ancient, artificially engineered monstrosity responsible for the "death" of Superman (among hundreds of thousands of others) has been confirmed as a playable character in NetherRealm Studio's forthcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Previously, Doomsday was spotted in the background of Superman's Fortress of Solitude stage, though his status as an actual character remained ambiguous. As seen in the video above, Doomsday's main ability appears to be getting completely stomped on by Captain Marvel Shazam, at least until Doomsday punches him through the entire planet and back, quite literally.

It's time once again for NetherRealm Studios' weekly infusion of Injustice: Gods Among Us fight tapes, this time featuring all-American legend Superman, creepy Craigslist birthday party magician Sinestro, reincarnation poster child Hawkgirl and facial hair enthusiast Green Arrow.

The most important part of either of these videos isn't the fact that Green Arrow has some decidedly Sub-Zero moves going on, or that Sinestro's slender torso makes us uncomfortable, but rather that the Clash system is still in place. First seen at E3 last year, the Clash system was in danger of being scrapped altogether last August, though it seems NetherRealm was able to make the system work.

Sinestro is a long-running villain from the Green Lantern universe and occasional mentor to Hal Jordan - but with a name like Sinestro, you can guess his most frequent role. Hawkgirl is also confirmed to be a playable character in the update.

Their roles in the plot of Injustice is yet to be revealed. Injustice: Gods Among Us tells the "what if" scenario of Superman losing it after The Joker unleashes a nuclear attack on Metropolis, presumably killing Supes' main squeeze, Lois Lane.

The latest round of Injustice: Gods Among Us fight tapes have been released following the results of NetherRealm Studios' ongoing popularity contest between the game's sizable stable of heroes and villains. This time, Atlantean king Aquaman is pitted against fellow Justice League of America member Cyborg (above), while interstellar cop Green Lantern dukes it out with the also green (albeit for a different reason) Solomon Grundy, after the break.

While these videos still mysteriously lack any indication of how meter management is working during these fights, we are learning more about each character's abilities with each new bout. Aquaman, for instance, can cancel incoming projectile attacks by creating a whirlpool around himself, and Cyborg appears to be one of the most mobile characters in the game, thanks to his zip-line/grappling hook thingy. Meanwhile, Green Lantern's ability to create complex, working machines and weapons has been put to full use, as has Solomon Grundy's, uh, deadness.

Harley's new digs, as seen above, are much closer to her previous iterations than her default Injustice costume, with the most appropriate comparison being to her appearance in Batman: Arkham City. The big difference here, besides the return to a biker aesthetic, is the fact that her hair has been changed to its correct original blonde, rather than the New 52-inspired red/green default.

Meanwhile, Bane's alternative look is much more techno than his primary appearance, with a mask that says "grim reaper" more than "luchador" and a green chest repository of Venom somewhat reminiscent of Soul Calibur's Astaroth. The next round of Injustice: Gods Among Us combat footage has been released into the wild, now that round 2 of NetherRealm Studio's ongoing character popularity contest has come to an end. The resulting bouts pit Joker against Lex Luthor (above) and Flash against Shazam (below), who up until the New 52 relaunch was known by his original, proper name, Captain Marvel.

As was the case with the last round of videos, very subtle similarities to Mortal Kombat are apparent to anyone looking for them: Captain Marvel Shazam's moves invoke a sense of Raiden, Joker's various gadgets remind of Cyrax/Sektor and Flash's kicks have a Kung Lao look to them.

The Justice League of America's most under-appreciated superhero, Aquaman, has been confirmed as the latest addition to the cast of playable fighters for Injustice: Gods Among Us. Slightly reminiscent of Mortal Kombat's Rain, Aquaman's abilities appear to walk a fine line between trident strikes and water/lighting-based elemental attacks, as shown in the character's debut trailer at IGN.

Injustice's version of Aquaman appears to be closer to the New 52 version of the character, rather than any of his legacy incarnations, due to the fact that he fights with a trident and still has both hands. This is unlike the longest running version of Aquaman from the 1990s, who lost his left hand in 1994 and subsequently battled with a hooked prosthetic harpoon spearhead attached to a mystical, retracting rope.

Actually, now that we think about it, maybe that would have hit a little close to home.

NetherRealm Studios and DC Comics are hosting a series of popularity contests over on the official Injustice: Gods Among Us website, pitting heroes and villains against each other in a tournament-style bracket where fan votes determine the hypothetical outcome.

Sounds fun and everything, but what we're primarily interested in are the gameplay videos released once a winner has been determined, the first two of which can be found above and beyond the veil. We're not going to spoiler the outcome of either fight, obviously, but we will say that Bane's abilities look very reminiscent of Kabal's from Mortal Kombat, while Harley Quinn has more than a little bit of Mileena about her.

The next round of voting starts on February 11, so we're anticipating more videos in a couple weeks.

No further details have been released aside from the above screenshot, though we feel safe in assuming that Croc will fall into Injustice's stable of power-oriented characters, rather than its gadget-focused cast.

Riddler and Penguin, two additional previously unannounced characters, are also seen in the above screenshot, though whether they themselves are playable remains to be seen -- it's possible that they are part of that stage's interactive elements.

The Earth, beautiful in blue, watches through a massive window while the two brawlers scuff and smash the sleek interior of a space station. I'm rooting for Batman, but my health bar's on the wane.

According to NetherRealms Studios Producer Hector Sanchez, this build of Injustice: Gods Among Us hasn't been tuned properly, so it's no surprise to see my masked nemesis, Bane, breaking my back over and over on difficulty spikes. To compensate I keep looking for an opportunity to activate Batman's special attack, in which he summons his hammerhead shark of a car to crush his opponent. Wondering how it gets up there - in space, at this hour - is a bit silly.

"It's a video game," says Sanchez. Everyone in the room chuckles, shaking off the perils of pondering the logistics behind a fighting game super move. That's a story on a microscopic scale compared to the one Injustice: Gods Among Us really wants to tell.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment previously announced an April window, but today it confirmed the release date for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U, along with the reveal of the Battle Edition.

The Battle Edition, not to be confused with the already revealed Collector's Edition, costs $149.99, and PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are coming to GameStop and EB Games stores in the US and Canada, although it's also been confirmed for Wii U. [Update: Warner Bros. says the Wii U confirmation in its press release was an error.]. The big inclusion, as you can see above, is the special fight stick controller, along with three DLC skins of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman as they are in DC Comics' The New 52 revamp. Among other features, the fightstick offers "adjustable illumination" for the joystick and buttons, just in case you're picky about how your controllers light up.

While no trailer has been released as of yet, a scan of the latest Game Informer (tweeted by NetherRealm Studios' Ed Boon) does give us a glimpse of what the characters will look like. Luthor's appearance is quite similar to his robotic look in DC Universe Online, which is fine, we suppose, but Bane's resemblance to his appearance in Batman & Robin gives us pause. Which is to say, we had to pause and throw up after being forced to remember that movie.

Slade Wilson is a mercenary and assassin (and hater of teenagers) in the DC Comics world known as Deathstroke - and now he's the latest brawler to throw down in NetherRealm's Injustice: Gods Among Us. Keen observers will remember he also made an appearance in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

Deathstroke likes guns and has a steel sword for close-quarter combos, evidenced in the video above. Plus, he's kinda got this whole Two-Face thing going on with his mask, but we're sure Batman accidentally punched him like eight times so he must know already.
