Look, folks. We've presented you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/no-more-msrp/">with</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/we-got-it-4-cheap-38-wii-sales-at-amazon/">many</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/05/as-no-more-heroes-price-falls-its-awesomeness-rises/">opportunities</a> to pick up Suda 51's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/wii-fanboy-review-no-more-heroes/"><em>amazing</em> game</a> for a lot cheaper than the usual $49.99 price tag. Now, Amazon is selling this game at a ridiculously low price of $29.99. That's thirty frickin' dollars. Thirty!<br /><br />Whatever your excuse for not opening up the Amazon page right now and ordering the game, know this: it isn't a good enough reason. We're serious about this; if you don't own the game and read our site, we're going to call your parental units and <em>rat you out</em>. That's how serious we are about you needing to buy, and play, this game. Especially when it's this cheap. <br /><br />
<br /><br />[Thanks, Steven! You're a kind and wonderful person!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/hey-you-sitting-there-reading-this-buy-no-more-heroes-already/">Hey, you sitting there reading this, buy No More Heroes already!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 May 2008 12:00:00 EST. <span style="font-style: italic;"></span><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> discovers that we could use another hero (<a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=1p2VjKueoBA">and a way home</a>) in this week's review of Suda 51's <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span>. Rightful finger-pointing at Suda 51's pretentiousness starts the review, but it soon gets slashed away by Yahtzee's belief that <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span> does offer something "different." As we all know, "different" is this industry's version of the <em>Monopoly</em> "Get Out of Jail Free" card. It won't save a game from nasty reviews, but the cuts are certainly less deep.<br /><br />Thunderdome your way to <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/3554-Zero-Punctuation-No-More-Heroes">this week's</a> NSFW review of <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span> after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/zero-punctuation-believes-in-no-more-heroes/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation believes in No More Heroes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/zero-punctuation-believes-in-no-more-heroes/">Zero Punctuation believes in No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Apr 2008 23:00:00 EST. We're making your BFF bracelet <em>right now, Europe</em>. As folks that are very good at taking credit when they have absolutely no business being within the same room as it, we thank you for <em>listening</em> to <em>us</em> and buying this <em>amazing game</em> called <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/wii-fanboy-review-no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a>.<br /><br />According to MCV (via Chart Track), the game was #4 in the Wii charts for sales following <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/13/more-waiting-for-no-more-heroes-in-europe/">the game's release</a>. And in the All Format charts, the game took a rank of 20th. The strong sales for <em>No More Heroes</em> are something that we're glad to report (we have a hard time <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/wii-warm-up-travis-wears-his-sunglasses-at-night/">shutting up</a> about this game) and hope helps lead to one thing: <em>a sequel</em>.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/18/europe-is-the-wind-beneath-the-wings-of-no-more-heroes/">Europe is the wind beneath the wings of No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Mar 2008 19:00:00 EST. With the impending release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/a-few-things-you-wont-find-in-smash-bros-brawl/"><em>Smash Bros. Brawl</em></a>, we've had franchises on the mind lately. This game is pretty much guaranteed to be the best cross-franchise game ever made, including tons of folk that normally wouldn't be anywhere near a first-party Nintendo game.<br /><br />Then, reader Chris sent in an email showing us his latest creation. It's a mash-up of Kirby and Travis Touchdown (you know, from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nomoreheroes"><em>that game</em></a> we can't seem to stop talking about). It's quite a nice statue, if we may say so.<br /><br />Now that you have franchise mash-ups (we hope hope <em>hope</em> <em>No More Heroes</em> will become a franchise) on the mind, what other pairings would you like to see? Mario in a <em>Star Fox </em>game? Yoshi stuck in <em>Silent Hill</em>? What do you think?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/wii-warm-up-franchise-mash-ups/">Wii Warm Up: Franchise mash-ups</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST. None of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/11/wii-releases-for-the-week-of-february-11th/">releases this week</a> really appealed to us, just as they didn't appeal to any of you who bothered to comment. So, we figured we'd talk a bit about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/suda-says-u-s-version-of-no-more-heroes-is-closest-to-his-visio/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> and the fact that the boss fight with the #2 ranked assassin <em>is driving us crazy</em>. Seriously, how cheap can you get? We'd go into further detail but we fear that there are still a few of you out there who have not picked up the game. Shocking, we know.<br /><br />Anywho, enough about what we're playing. What about you all? What game(s) will get you through the days ahead?<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/15/wrup-the-last-time-we-make-this-about-no-more-heroes-edition/">WRUP: The last time we make this about No More Heroes edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Feb 2008 12:45:00 EST. An Edge interview with Grasshopper CEO Goichi Suda has recently been reprinted by NextGen, and <a href="http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=8769&amp;Itemid=2&amp;limit=1&amp;limitstart=0">features a few insights</a> into Suda51's development of <em>No More Heroes</em>, as well as the punk-rock designer's future plans.<br /><br />Regarding the Wii, Suda51 felt that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/no-more-heroes"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> was a unique opportunity to appeal to the wide user base for the console, and set out to make the title appeal to both hardcore gamers, and those that might be experiencing their first action game.<br /><br />Beyond <em>No More Heroes</em>, Suda51 expresses interest in developing for the Xbox 360, citing the console's tremendous performance in the States. According to Suda, America is the "Major League" of game development, and it's a market he'd most definitely like to conquer. We'll just have to wait and see what his crazy brain cooks up next.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/suda51-talks-xbox-360-american-market/">Suda51 talks Xbox 360, American market</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 12:55:00 EST. During a rather extensive interview with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/12/suda-and-wada-behind-bloodless-no-more-heroes/">Goichi Suda</a>, the man behind <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/wii-fanboy-review-no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> and <em>Killer 7</em> (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamecube">GameCube</a>), it's revealed that the Grasshopper Manufature CEO has found his experience of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/so-goichi-suda-how-would-you-describe-making-no-more-heroes/">working with the Wii</a> a very enjoyable one. And, in regards to the whole bloodless/bloody <em>No More Heroes</em> fiasco, Suda is of the mind that the U.S. version (see: the one with the buckets of blood in it) is definitely closest to his final vision of the game.<br /><br />Nintendo was totally cool with the blood from the get-go, as well. Suda says the U.S. version was the closest to his initial vision for the game, and that the "issue of having blood spilt is an interesting one. Today's technology makes a very realistic visual experience possible, so does that mean blood has to be sprayed all around? I'm not sure." Well, we're glad the blood was added, as looking at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/comparing-the-censored-and-uncensored-versions-of-no-more-heroes/">the comparison videos</a> shows the blood adds a lot more to the game. <br /><br />
<br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=35019">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/suda-says-u-s-version-of-no-more-heroes-is-closest-to-his-visio/">Suda says U.S. version of No More Heroes is closest to his vision</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 13:30:00 EST. It's no secret that we've had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/wii-fanboy-review-no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> on the brain since the game's release a few short weeks back. We're doing our best to climb the UAA ranks, but that doesn't mean we don't have time to stop and smell the roses. Some of our time has been spent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/15/no-more-nudity-grasshopper-manufactures-some-t-shirts/">dumpster-diving for t-shirts</a> and checking out the Area 51 for new apparel. Do you spend any time messing with Travis' looks, or is it all about the Beam Katana upgrades and UAA ladder-climbing for you?<br /><br />And yes, that is our Travis above. Show us yours!<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/wii-warm-up-travis-wears-his-sunglasses-at-night/">Wii Warm Up: Travis wears his sunglasses at night</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST. But exactly how much blood are they missing out on?<br /><br />As the above <a href="http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D437405E654A2C9C">comparison video</a> shows, there's certainly a lot of blood in the American version that's absent from the others, but whether you'll actually <em>miss</em> it depends on your preference for riotously excess gore. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/13/suda-51-approved-europes-bloodless-no-more-heroes/">already know</a> that Suda51 believed the American version simply needed more blood than the others; whether the game is actually better with fountains of ruby will ultimately depend on personal taste (or, apparently, your country of residence). <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2008/02/05/comparing-the-censored-and-uncensored-versions-of-no-more-heroes/">Wii Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/no-more-heroes-video-compares-censored-and-uncensored-versions/">No More Heroes video compares bloody and blood-less versions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 07:00:00 EST. We're so smitten, we've cuddled with the game's case every night in bed, clenching it tight against our chest like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/teddyrb.jpg">our teddy bears</a> of old. <br /><br />But enough about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/19/gt-previews-no-more-heroes-we-need-some-time-to-recover/">our rampant love</a> of the game. One of the biggest concerns for Europeans is how the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/no-more-blood-in-european-version-of-no-more-heroes/">censored version</a> would stack up the bloody affair that is the U.S. release. One gamer was kind enough to do just that, taking video of each death scene in the game from both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/12/suda-and-wada-behind-bloodless-no-more-heroes/">censored</a> and uncensored version of the game. So, if you're beaten the game or just don't care about spoilers, hit up the link below. <em>No More High-Definition Heroes</em> was almost a reality, had Grasshopper Manufacture's Goichi Suda not been privy to some Wii whisperings during his project's planning stages. "Originally, I'd wanted to make this game for Xbox 360, actually," he told <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29510/Time-For-Heroes-began-life-on-360-says-developer">MCV</a>. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nomoreheroes"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> designer, also known as "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/suda51">Suda51</a>," explained that he was swayed by Marvelous Interactive president Yashiro Wada, who shared "information about the new Wii and how the new controller would work before it came out." <br /><br />Suda51 admitted to being pleased with his choice, feeling that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/24/metareview-no-more-heroes-wii/">distinctive wack 'n slash</a> worked well with the Wii's control system. We're inclined to agree ... but then we wonder if anybody's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/22/suda-51-clarifies-wii-remarks-on-third-party-sales/">ever expressed concern</a> over the <em>Xbox 360</em>'s "hardcore" audience.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/04/no-more-heroes-first-planned-for-360-says-suda51/">No More Heroes first planned for 360, says Suda51</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Feb 2008 17:55:00 EST. Santa Destroy is a rough place, unless you've got the moves to make it to the top of the assassin's ranking list. And we want you to give the game's protagonist, Travis Touchdown, a helping hand. So we're going to hand you a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/24/metareview-no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> for the Wii. <br /><br />How does one enter for such a prize? Well, each day, from now until Wednesday, January 30th at 11:59pm EST, you can leave a comment telling us who your favorite hero is. It can be a superhero or just your dad. We want to know who it is! But, you can only leave one comment per day, so any more than that and you'll get disqualified. <br /><br />Again, the contest is open from today, January 25th until Wednesday, January 30th at 11:59pm EST. Also, you must be 18 years of age or older and a current resident of the United States. And, be sure to give <a href="http://www.weblogsinc.com/weblogs-giveaways-official-rules/">the official rules</a> a read.<br /><br />Good luck!<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/wii-fanswag-no-more-heroes/">Wii Fanswag: No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 09:45:00 EST. <em>No More Heroes</em> creator Suda 51 wants to clarify a few comments. In a post on <a href="http://www.grasshoppermanufacture.com/">Grasshopper Manufacturer's</a> website (click on "What's New"), the developer points out what he considers is a "misquote" in an <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=179651">interview with CVG</a>. In response to a question concerning the sales of <em>No More Heroes </em>in Japan, Suda 51 said, "Whilst the sales weren't as high as I hoped, other titles for Wii aren't selling so well either. Only Nintendo titles are doing well," adding that this is the case outside of Japan, too.<br /><br />The clarification posted asserts that "unlike a lot of Nintendo Wii titles currently available, [<em>NMH</em>] is the kind of product which will attract a different kind of consumer to the hardware, i.e. gamers who are looking for a different genre to the products which have been successful on this platform thus far." That "different kind of consumer" we're guessing is a more hardcore gamer, given comments earlier in the CVG interview where he said, "<span class="text_article_body">I wasn't expecting that Wii would be a console targeted only at non-gamers.</span><span class="text_article_body"> I expected more games for hardcore gamers." Obviously, he doesn't want to comment on the sales of other third-party titles, but do you think he might have a point?<br /><br />For those looking for a reportedly more hardcore Wii experience, <em>No More Heroes</em> comes out today in North America.<br /></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/22/suda-51-clarifies-wii-remarks-on-third-party-sales/">Suda 51 clarifies Wii remarks on third-party sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Jan 2008 15:00:00 EST. There will be the firefighter that saves a kitten from a tree. There will be the courteous driver who waves on another driver at a four-way stop. <em>No More Heroes</em> isn't even out on shelves yet outside of Japan, most of the reviews haven't even been published, and already director Goichi Suda <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6184700.html">wants a sequel</a>. The punk-rock <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killer7"><em>Killer 7</em></a> creator is already itching to create the next in this bizarre Wii-sclusive action series, despite publisher Ubisoft not yet soliciting for the sequel-itis treatment.<br /><br />Talking with GameSpot, Suda says he's "really willing" to make a second <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nomoreheroes"><em>No More Heroes</em></a>, and is already asking about moving forward with it as a future project. Suda describes <em>No More Heroes</em> as being unlike any other action game for the Wii, likening it to alternative rock band Arctic Monkeys in terms of its energy (uh, whatever you say, Suda).<br /><br />Suda 51 is currently working on American localizations of two Grasshopper-developed DS games -- <em>Flower, Sun and Rain</em> and <em>Silver Case</em> -- and is also working on an undisclosed Xbox 360 title for Konami. <em>No More Heroes</em> drops on January 22 in the US, and February 29 in the UK. We'll see then if it's sequel-worthy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/17/suda-51-wants-more-no-more-heroes/">Suda 51 wants more No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Jan 2008 11:30:00 EST. Gamers anxious for something new to play this week have a few titles to choose from. But, like us, we assume most of you are doing what we are: ignoring this week for the excellence that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/05/january-is-a-good-month-not-to-be-a-hero/">will arrive next week</a>. Be patient, young grasshopper. Our time is almost upon us.<br /><br />In the meantime, however, there are some new titles to choose from this week:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em>Nitrobike</em></li>
    <li><em>Furu Furu Park</em></li>
    <li><em>Kidz Sports: Ice Hockey</em></li>
    <li><em>Samurai Warriors: Katana</em></li>
    <li><em>CSI Hard Evidence</em></li>
</ul>
Planning on picking up anything new? Or, are you just waiting for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/13/thirty-more-seconds-of-no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> like us?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/14/wii-releases-for-the-week-of-january-14th/">Wii releases for the week of January 14th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jan 2008 10:30:00 EST. Would Wii owners know what to do with themselves if the console got more than one decent game in a month?<br /><br />Luckily, it seems we can continue with our nearly monthly ritual of trying to figure out which of our disconnected AV cords go to the Wii, with IGN reporting that <em>NMH</em> has actually been bumped up to a January 22nd release. <div align="left">Perhaps "cooler" isn't the best word to use, since comics tend to be associated with, well, <em>nerdy</em> lifestyles. Fortunately, though, this is a video games blog, meaning that we completely eat up geek culture like it's delicious candy. The folks over at Grasshopper Manufacture seem to understand this, and have therefore decided to incorporate a comic book motif into the <em>No More Heroes</em> instruction manual.<br /></div>

<br />We can only hope that Ubisoft decides to use this style as well, but in case they don't, check out some pictures provided by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2007/12/20/marvelous-no-more-heroes-has-a-comic-book-manual/">Siliconera's</a> Spencer Yip after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/comic-book-manual-makes-no-more-heroes-even-cooler/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Comic book manual makes No More Heroes even cooler</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/comic-book-manual-makes-no-more-heroes-even-cooler/">Comic book manual makes No More Heroes even cooler</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Dec 2007 22:32:00 EST. Immediately after watching it, we had to turn off all of the lights, shut all of the curtains tight and lay down on our floor in the dark, going back over all of the greatness in our minds. We need this game so freakin' bad, you have no clue. <br /><br />We'd take time to say what is in the video right around here (the body of the post), but then there might be a chance you wouldn't watch it. Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi "Suda 51" Suda has made himself a target for fans angered by a recent display of <em>perceived</em> censorship in the European version of upcoming sword swinger, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/30/tgs-hands-on-no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a>. Much like its Japanese counterpart, <em>No More Euros</em> has been scrubbed clean of blood, rewarding each violent slash with a spectacular gush of coins. In that sense, it couldn't be a <em>more</em> accurate metaphorical representation of the hitman motif that carries over from Suda 51's <em>Killer 7</em>.<br /><br />Regardless, <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29132/Devs-decided-to-censor-Euro-No-More-Heroes">a statement issued</a> by Goichi Suda and Marvelous president Yashiro Wada hopes to divert the outrage away from publisher Rising Star games, noting that the decision was made "to release in Europe the same version as has shipped in Japan considering the broadly growing Wii market." Apparently, said broadly growing Wii market is entirely separate from that in America, where it's perfectly alright to <em>add</em> blood to the localized <em>No More Heroes</em>. A pretty weak justification then, likely conjured up to avoid a possible <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/manhunt2">BBFC ban-trum</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/13/suda-51-approved-europes-bloodless-no-more-heroes/">Suda 51 approved Europe's bloodless No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Dec 2007 10:00:00 EST. <br />A recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/no-more-blood-in-european-version-of-no-more-heroes/">announcement</a> that Europe would be getting a bloodless version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> didn't go down well with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/no-more-blood-in-european-version-of-no-more-heroes/#comments">many of our bloodthirsty commenters</a>. At the time, PAL publisher Rising Star Games refused to reveal what was behind the decision, but more light was shed on the omission earlier today, in a joint statement from director Suda51 and producer Yasuhiro Wada (pictured above <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/10/the-no-more-heroes-failure-to-launch-event/">unsuccessfully</a> trying to give away free <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/25/no-more-heroes-toilet-paper-better-be-two-ply/">toilet roll</a> and autographs on the streets of Akihabara).<br /><br />Turns out that it was Suda and Wada <em>themselves </em>who decided to drop the outrageous levels of gore from the European version, citing the "broadly growing Wii market" in the region.<br /><br />Not that this affects many of you, as the U.S. version still contains plenty of the crimson stuff. <em><a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28497.html">Buckets</a></em> of it, in fact.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/12/suda-and-wada-behind-bloodless-no-more-heroes/">Suda and Wada behind bloodless No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Dec 2007 16:00:00 EST. Hearing about <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span>' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/10/the-no-more-heroes-failure-to-launch-event/">unsuccesful launch</a> in Japan was enough to break our Suda-loving hearts, and make us really believe that the world is severely lacking in heroes. Fortunately, we were wrong. Kotaku reader Frank decided to show his support and respect for Suda51 with this Wii, which is all kinds of excellent. <br /><br />This fan tribute won't heal the wound of disappointing sales, but it's certainly a nice gesture. Like sending one of these custom Wiis to each of the Nintendo Wii Fanboy staff would be a nice gesture. (You can't blame a blogger for trying.)<br /><br />Another picture of this heroic Wii can be seen after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/no-more-heroes-themed-wii-makes-us-sad-no-more/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>No More Heroes themed Wii makes us sad no more</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/no-more-heroes-themed-wii-makes-us-sad-no-more/">No More Heroes themed Wii makes us sad no more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 18:00:00 EST. While we're glad that Rising Star will be distributing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> to Europe and Australia, some European (and yes, probably Australian) gamers might be peeved to know that the version of the game they get will be blood-free.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/wii/game/news/article.jsp?releaseId=2006121210125293056&amp;articleId=20071206144142828051&amp;sectionId=1006">Games Radar</a> asked publisher Rising Star if this decision had anything to do with the recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/rockstar-begins-their-british-appeal/"><em>Manhunt 2</em> BBFC fiasco</a>, to which the company replied a telling, "Maybe."<br /><br />This certainly isn't the worst news in the world, and Japan is also playing the blood-free version, but we can understand if European gamers are a little disappointed by this development. Check after the break to see examples of the bloodless version versus the ridiculously bloody, <em>Kill Bill</em>-esque North American version.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/no-more-blood-in-european-version-of-no-more-heroes/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>No more blood in European version of No More Heroes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/no-more-blood-in-european-version-of-no-more-heroes/">No more blood in European version of No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Dec 2007 15:03:00 EST. Director Suda 51 established one cold hard fact with his 2005 sleeper hit, <span style="font-style: italic;">Killer 7</span>: every living person is composed of chunks of blood that explode jubilantly, like a blood pi&ntilde;ata, when that person is killed. Though it contradicts the professional opinions of most anatomists, we are stringent supporters of the bloodsplosion ideology -- which is why we were so disturbed by recent gameplay footage for the European version of Suda's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NoMoreHeroes/">No More Heroes</a></em><span style="font-style: italic;">.</span><br /><br />Click the jump and watch as the game discards the stylish, bloody effects of <span style="font-style: italic;">Killer 7</span>, replacing them with ... what are those? Coins? Vanilla Wafers? Whatever they are, they definitely aren't blood. We know blood when we see it -- because when we see it, we shout "yeah" and give each other high-fives.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/european-no-more-heroes-removes-bloody-gameplay/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>European No More Heroes removes bloody gameplay</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/european-no-more-heroes-removes-bloody-gameplay/">European No More Heroes removes bloody gameplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Dec 2007 13:00:00 EST. We know that you were impressed by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/01/no-more-heroes-intro-turns-us-into-wannabe-assassins/">opening video</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/no-more-heroes/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a>, because, well, you told us so. The people behind the game must have degrees in tease-ology, though, because now you can download music samples from <em>No More Heroes</em> at the game's official website. Even though they aren't full tracks, it's easy to tell that the music for this game is going to rock our socks off. Now we're even as hyped for the soundtrack release as we are for the game itself.<br /><br />To download the track samples, go to the bottom of <a href="http://www.mmv.co.jp/special/game/wii/nomoreheroes/special/download/index.html">this page</a> and click on the orange buttons. In fact, after hearing about the difficulty (even if it was a fake translation), we're more pumped than ever.<br /><br />Our latest update brings you the game's English intro, according to <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28459.html">Gametrailers</a>. We love how the game completely demolishes the fourth wall, although some people may find that irritating. Also of note is Travis Touchdown whistling the <em>NMH</em> theme at the beginning. <br /><br />Caveat: We at NWF are rating this trailer <strong>NSFW</strong> due to cursing, violence, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/playsylvia/">Sylvia</a> in skimpy outfits.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/01/no-more-heroes-intro-turns-us-into-wannabe-assassins/">No More Heroes intro turns us into wannabe assassins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 01 Dec 2007 15:00:00 EST. But, even though the game was received well by the Famitsu folk, they still found one problem with it: it might be a tad bit too hard. See, the game is supposedly too tough for the Wii's casual audience. So, it's not so easy to pick up and play like, say, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/supermariogalaxy"><em>Super Mario Galaxy</em></a> is. At least, that's what Famitsu thinks.<br /><br />We would like to know exactly what Famitsu found to be too difficult about it, whether it was the difficulty of performing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/no-more-heroes-in-amazing-high-res-screens/">Travis's maneuvers</a> or it was simply just the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/19/your-missions-should-you-choose-to-accept-them/">mission structure</a>. Heck, it could've been a combination of any number of things. But, regardless, we can't wait until February, when we will find out for ourselves.<br /><br />[Update: We don't know the actual text of Famitsu's review, but we do know that the translated review summary was <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8773805&amp;postcount=295">a joke</a> on the part of NeoGAFfer "Dascu." We do know that the game received scores of 9, 8, 8, 9.]<br /><br />
<br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=30591">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/30/no-more-heroes-too-tough/">No More Heroes too tough? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/no-more-heroes-in-amazing-high-res-screens/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a>, being somewhat of an open-world game, will have a mission-based structure. Famitsu has revealed three of the mission types. They may be the only mission types found in the game -- we don't really know. Two of the three mission types fall under the obvious category of "hitting people with a beam katana a bunch of times," which is how we want to spend our time in the game anyway.<br /><br />"Free Fight" missions involve just that -- fighting. In these missions, you're asked to beat up as many dudes as possible within a time limit. In "Murder Missions," you are assigned a target to assassinate. We don't know why we didn't think of this earlier, but the UAA assassins must actually <em>work as assassins</em>-- which means killing people other than each other. <br /><br />Finally, the "Part-time job Missions" consist of the hilariously random jobs we've seen Travis undertake in screenshots -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/no-more-coconut-collectors/">coconut collecting</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/no-more-heroes-newest-assassin-bad-girl/">cat care</a> and the like.<br /><br />If all this <em>gameplay information</em> fails to hold your interest, head over to the <em>No More Heroes </em><a href="http://www.mmv.co.jp/special/game/wii/nomoreheroes/">website</a> for <a href="http://media.mmv.co.jp/game/wii/nomoreheroes/blog/sp01.html">another week</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/no-more-heroes-playsylvia-cosplay-week-1/">PLAYSYLVIA cosplay</a>! <div align="left">We've gotten so used to seeing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/homemade-no-more-heroes-beam-katana-contradicts-the-games-title/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/05/the-power-of-lovikov-is-a-curious-thing/">tiny screenshots</a> on Japanese websites that these full-size screens are jarring to us. We had kind of forgotten what the game looked like in its actual resolution. While the geometry is simplistic and there are some jaggies and stuff, <em>No More Heroes</em>, like its predecessor <a href="http://capcom.com/killer7/"><em>Killer 7</em></a>, makes brilliant use of an intentionally technologically limited graphics engine. There are actually elements in <em>No More Heroes</em> that don't really appear in <em>Killer 7</em>, like textured environments.<br /></div>
<br />We couldn't be more excited about cutting up mean baseball players and high school students. <br /> The game is a work of art. Don't believe us? <div align="left">Good times come February, friends. By then we'll have officially given up on our New Year's Resolutions, making way for more decadent, artery-clogging food, and Goichi Suda's bizarre, frightening <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NoMoreHeroes/">No More Heroes</a></em> will be hitting US shelves. <em>No More Heroes</em> releases on December 6th in Japan, and leading up to the launch the official site <a href="http://www.nomoreheroes.jp/special/index.html">has been updated</a> with a bevy of new videos.<br /><br />The two highlighted here show the lead, Travis Touchdown, the most awesomely named character in any fictional construct to date, collecting the mundane -- garbage and coconuts. Who said being an assassin was all blood and body bags? Hit the jump for the second video.</div>

Is it a good idea to make a costume and custom-built beam katana prop based on an unreleased game that may not turn out to be any good? Not at all! Is it an <em>awesome </em>idea? HOLY CRAP YES. <br /><br />This <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nomoreheroes"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> Travis Touchdown costume from .ed is the antidote to yesterday's <em>WarioWare</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/warioware-costume-makes-cosplay-not-fun-anymore/">cosplay</a>. The jacket and shirt and drawn-on sideburns are great, but the real draw is the homemade <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/japanese-no-more-heroes-fans-get-their-own-beam-katanas/">beam katana</a> accessory, which, using <em>science</em>, lights up with a blue glow. It looks just like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/13/no-more-heroes-more-beam-katanas-and-raidenesque-irishmen/">Blood Berry</a> beam katana that we've <em>only seen in tiny pictures!</em><br /><br />The costume is so good that it even got the attention of a Grasshopper Manufacture employee named Naoko, who emailed him and said " I've just checked your pictures. It looks great. I really like it. Some new gameplay info came out about our favorite upcoming Wii game (<em>Super What-io What-axy?</em>), <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NoMoreHeroes/">No More Heroes</a></em>, in the form of a seeming underworld connection to get Travis Touchdown some special moves. Apparently he can collect "Lovikov Balls" around Santa Destroy. Returning these items to the man for whom the balls are named, some drunk dude called Lovikov, nets you special moves.<br /><br />Two of the seven moves are shown off in screenshots at the <em>No More Heroes</em> site, and in <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1211605_1407.html">larger screenshots</a> at Famitsu. "Memory of Demon" is a super-powerful sword move that can pull off one-hit kills. "Memory of Child" enables you to run at super-speed.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/05/the-power-of-lovikov-is-a-curious-thing/">The power of Lovikov is a curious thing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Nov 2007 09:45:00 EST. <div align="left">You'll be able to acquire VHS cassettes featuring music videos in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NoMoreHeroes/">No More Heroes</a></em>, for viewing back at Travis's nerdtacular home (on an apparently tiny TV, judging from our hero's posture.) The first such video to be revealed is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genki_Rockets">Genki Rockets</a>' "Heavenly Star," which is appropriately nerdy for inclusion in the otaku-fronted game.<br /><br />How nerdy is "Heavenly Star?" Well, the song's not about Doctor Who or anything, but it <em>is</em> performed by a group of fictional musicians who are from the future. Like the Gorillaz, the Genki Rockets manifest as holograms in live performances. And this (gorgeous) video was produced by Q? Entertainment's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetsuya_Mizuguchi">Tetsuya Mizuguchi</a> for inclusion in <em><a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2007/01/29/deal-of-the-day-lumines-ii-now-only-20/">Lumines II</a>. </em>Of course, you don't need to wait for <em>No More Heroes</em> or go buy <em>Lumines II</em> to see the video; we've embedded it after the break.</div>

The events of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/no-more-coconut-collectors/">No More Heroes</a> </em>are catalyzed by Travis Touchdown's purchase of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/13/no-more-heroes-more-beam-katanas-and-raidenesque-irishmen/">beam katana</a> in an online auction. Now <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/preorder">preordering</a> the game will enable Japanese gamers to reenact that part of the story, in miniature, and probably without the subsequent murders. <br /><br />The "beam katana accessory" will be given out in limited numbers to people who reserve a copy of <em>No More Heroes.</em> It's made of metal (probably aluminum) and is 70 mm (2.5 inches) long. Dengeki considers it potentially suitable as a phone charm or as something to attach to a bag, although it may crunch your phone in your pocket, we think. Chances are most people will keep it in its packaging <em>forever</em> as a keepsake, a reminder of the time they went to a store.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/japanese-no-more-heroes-fans-get-their-own-beam-katanas/">Japanese No More Heroes fans get their own beam katanas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Oct 2007 11:15:00 EST.
