'Predator' tasks one player with being the Ustanak, a giant bioweapon, while other players band together to take it down. 'Survivor' can be played in solo or with a team, with downed players resurrected as zombies to hunt human prey. Finally, 'Onslaught' pits two players against each other as they battle waves of enemies, each kill chain sending that many more enemies to the other player's area. Each mode is priced at $3.99 on PSN.

On top of the DLC modes, Capcom has also dated a collection of all released Mercenaries maps, including maps that were previously exclusive to pre-order customers. This one-stop Mercenaries map pack bundles together Rail Yard, Catacombs, High Seas Fortress, all available now for 80 MSP ($1) each, plus Stage Map Pack A (160 MSP/$2) and Map Pack B (160 MSP/$2). This collection will be available on Xbox Live worldwide and PSN in North America on March 5; European PS3 owners can snag the pack on March 6.
Resident Evil 6 multiplayer DLC now on PS3, Mercenaries map bundle in March originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 19 Feb 2013 23:15:00 EST. Survivor mode augments regular solo/team vs. mode by making felled humans rise as zombies, who must chomp on some noggins before being able to respawn as a person.

Lastly, Onslaught sounds like a weird combination of Gear of War's Horde mode and Dr. Mario's multiplayer, where two players attempt to survive separate waves of enemies, with kill combos sending more zombies to the opponent's side.

Each mode will set you back 320 MS Points ($4) if purchased individually, or 720 MS Points ($9) if purchased as a bundle. No word on when this content will become available on other platforms.

Update: Capcom has uploaded some footage from each new mode - feel free to vault past the break to check it out. Also, Capcom-Unity confirms that a patch will come to Xbox 360 and PS3 at the same time. This free update allows players to adjust the camera's field of view, and adds co-op to the Ada campaign and the No Hope Left difficulty mode.
Continue reading Resident Evil 6 multiplayer DLC drops Dec. 18, Xbox gets first dibs [update: videos, patch info]

Resident Evil 6 multiplayer DLC drops Dec. 18, Xbox gets first dibs [update: videos, patch info] originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 04 Dec 2012 20:00:00 EST. Onslaught Mode, available "soon" on PS3 and Xbox 360, remixes the Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay maps for use in co-op with new vehicle placements and different times of day.

Players are asked to complete specific objectives in each map, with enemy AI attempting to prevent those goals. For example, the announcement specifies that "Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault."

We're following up with EA about the price of this DLC, as well as the prospect of its release on PC.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gains co-op 'Onslaught' mode soon originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 12 May 2010 09:33:00 EST. We'd like to thank our good pals at Hudson for sending these tips over (we added our own pinch of insight to each, for extra flavor), as we're sure it'll save many human lives. Hudson was kind enough to send me a review copy of its WiiWare FPS, Onslaught, and I'm sure glad I got it. Once I tore open the digital shrinkwrap, I found a delicious nugget of gaming goodness inside. That's not to say the game doesn't have its problems, but for $10, this is one polished experience.

And, as always, if all of this text just makes your eyes hurt, enjoy the supplemental video synopsis here. It's fortified with 2,762% of our famous Joystiq Goodness[TM].

Continue reading Joystiq Review: Onslaught (WiiWare)

Joystiq Review: Onslaught (WiiWare) originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 04 Mar 2009 10:00:00 EST. Just a few weeks after the release of Bubble Bobble Wii, Taito just sneaked out a WiiWare version of its sequel, Rainbow Islands! As with Bubble Bobble, we knew that it was coming at some point, but we had yet to see any screens or gameplay information. Now it's out, and it appears to feature timed ascents up huge, vertical stages. Also out this week: a WiiWare version of The Game of Life.

Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure (1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)

Madsecta (Onslaught) (1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points)

In other Taito news, today marks the release of the second version of Space Invaders: The Original Game on the Japanese Virtual Console. This time, the PC Engine version of the ancient shooter is being released -- at exactly the same cost as the Super Famicom/SNES version, making the decision between the two basically a matter of platform preference. Unless silly anime-girl backgrounds make a big difference, in which case it's PC Engine all the way.

There are plenty of new goodies to check out on Wii this week. including a whole new system on the Virtual Console! We won't bother wasting any more time here typing out words you're going to just ignore, so shoot down for the details you crave.

Virtual Console
International Karate (C64, 1 - 2 players, 500 Wii Points): Features man-vs-man karate fighting to the death. Well, not really, but it is karate sparring. Do you need to know anything else?

The Last Ninja (C64. 500 Wii Points): Armakuni is literally the last ninja ever, and takes up a quest to destroy the evil Shogun Kunitoki. You'll have to rely on all of your ninja abilities if you hope to survive this one!

Pit Stop II (C64, 1 -2 players, 500 Wii Points): Enjoy split-screen action, or merely play alone in this C64 F1 racer. It's the first game to bring racing to the home computer and features six different tracks to race on, as well as true-to-life pit stop technology.

WiiWare
Onslaught (Hudson, FPS, 1,000 Wii Points): Hudson's FPS focuses on the war between humans and space bugs. The game features wave after wave of space bug baddies and includes boss fights and leaderboard support via Nintendo WFC. Sadly, though, the game does not include Michael Ironside.

Wiikly Wares: C64 games launch an Onslaught on Wii originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 23 Feb 2009 12:30:00 EST. It's a pretty cool WiiWare day on the PAL Wii Shop. Hudson decided to spring its WiiWare FPS, Onslaught, on an unsuspecting audience. Somehow, we doubt PAL gamers will mind waiting an extra month or so for Snowboard Riot and playing an online FPS in the meantime.

The other game up today is something that we personally think looks delightful: Pop-Up Pirate!, the WiiWare version of the classic toy in which players stick swords into a barrel until someone accidentally stabs the imprisoned pirate. Fun for the whole family!
Onslaught footage can be viewed after the break, along with a commercial for the Pop-Up Pirate toy (since we couldn't find any video of the Wii game).

Continue reading VC Friday: Pop-Up Onslaught!

VC Friday: Pop-Up Onslaught! originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 13 Feb 2009 09:00:00 EST. Hudson has launched an online space for its upcoming WiiWare FPS, Onslaught. Courtesy of the site, we've got a bunch of new screens to drool over. If anything, we'd say they emit a Starship Troopers vibe ... which is totally a good thing. After checking out these screens, you can bet we can't wait to shoot our share of space bugs. How about you all?

We've heard almost nothing since then, until today!

Hudson has told WiiWare World that a new Adventure Island is on the way to Europe for this April. We can assume it'll show up worldwide at some point as well, like every other Hudson WiiWare game.

In addition, the company has announced a new WiiWare FPS called Onslaught, whose defining characteristic is that it isn't Adventure Island. We're willing to look past that flaw, however, for a four-player online multiplayer WiiWare FPS (seriously) about "blasting a massive number of enemy creatures to feel the exhilaration". Onslaught is set for European release in March.
Hudson confirms new Adventure Island and online FPS for WiiWare originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 04 Feb 2009 15:00:00 EST.
