The folks over at the official PAX website are hoping so, as the registration site officially opened today. What's that, you already had it bookmarked? Well look at you!<br /><br />Anyway, registration itself hasn't opened just yet, but the site promises it's on the way "soon." By last year at this time, said registrations had already opened, so we expect "soon" to really be "any day now." We've reached out to Penny Arcade for more specific info.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Penny Arcade's Robert Khoo says that registration "should reopen next week" after some technical hiccups earlier today.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/25/pax-prime-registration-site-officially-open-registration-comin/">PAX Prime registration site officially open, registration opens next week [updated]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Apr 2012 18:45:00 EST. If you're a fan of this site, that would be the day to attend (more on this at a later date). Take the <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/Official_PAX/status/174529315973771264">town crier of Twitter</a> seriously: the three-day badges <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/08/psa-pax-east-3-day-passes-sold-out-sorry-slowpokes/">lasted a little under 24 hours</a> after that warning went out. Procrastination will not be rewarded.<br /><br />Last year's PAX East had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/14/pax-east-2011-attendance-69-500-officially-becomes-biggest-pax/">69,500 revelers</a> at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, with that number expected to climb this year. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/15/pax-east-commits-to-boston-until-2023/">PAX East is locked into Boston until 2023</a>, with attendance expected to climb to 100,000 sometime in the next ten years.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/pax-east-has-fewer-than-1-000-saturday-badges-left/">PAX East has fewer than 1,000 Saturday badges left</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Feb 2012 12:40:00 EST. PAX East three-day passes have completely <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/Official_PAX/status/156033282474131456">sold out</a>, but single-day passes are still abundant -- for now. If you want to get your PAX East on this year, we suggest you <a href="http://east.paxsite.com/registration.php">register soon</a>. Last year's PAX East had 69,500 attendees and was the biggest ever, so you'll have to have a strong stomach for crowds as well.<br />
<br />
Don't forget to book a <a href="http://east.paxsite.com/hotels.php">hotel</a> too -- though if you're really dedicated, you'll just rent a VW van to sleep and eat in, and you can bathe in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_River">Charles River</a> (no you can't).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/08/psa-pax-east-3-day-passes-sold-out-sorry-slowpokes/">PSA: PAX East 3-day passes sold out; sorry, slowpokes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 08 Jan 2012 15:00:00 EST. PAX East 2012 registration is officially open, so grab those three-day passes quick, because they are always <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/03/sold-out-pax-east-3-day-badges/">the first to go</a>. Although there will be more tickets this year for the regularly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/09/pax-east-2011-sold-out/">sold out</a> show in Boston, the event will take place over Easter and Passover weekend, so be aware of those in case you have familial obligations.</div>
</div>
<br />
"It wasn't our first choice by any means, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we're working with the city to hopefully prevent it from happening again," PAX East organizers stated.<br />
<br />
Organizers also warn that they had issues with counterfeit badges being sold to unsuspecting attendees at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PAX-Prime-2011/">PAX Prime</a> this year. They warn if you buy a fake badge from someone else that it won't get you into the show and they won't be able to help. So, if you <a href="http://east.paxsite.com/registration.php">grab a ticket now</a>, you'll be all set for April 6-8.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/03/pax-east-2012-tickets-now-available/">PAX East 2012 tickets now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Nov 2011 23:30:00 EST. Hey, PAX East? Sit down, we gotta talk. You know how <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/14/pax-east-2011-attendance-69-500-officially-becomes-biggest-pax/">we made a big deal</a> about your 69,500 attendees earlier this year? Well, we don't want you to freak out, but your older brother PAX Prime has surpassed that figure, establishing <a href="http://www.neowin.net/news/pax-prime-2011-brings-in-70000-attendees">the record</a> for most attendees at a PAX.<br />
<br />
Look, don't be down, PAX East. We're a growing family with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/penny-arcade-expo-planning-on-branching-out-to-third-city/">a third kid on the way</a>, but there will be plenty of opportunity for you to prove yourself again. Chin up!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/pax-prime-attendance-grows-to-70-000/">PAX Prime attendance grows to 70,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 31 Aug 2011 20:00:00 EST. Much like the classical pianist who has thoroughly mastered his craft and finds the act of reading sheet music to be perfectly droll, the multicolored gem charts of <em>Guitar Heros</em> and <em>Rock Bands</em> have become <em>easy pleasy lemon squeezy</em>. If you've been playing those games since the genre's inception, you can probably tap and strum through most songs on the hardest difficulty settings. It is unlikely, however, that you could do so backwards while dodging increasingly violent salvos of enemy lasers.<br />
<br />
24 Caret Games' PSN-exclusive indie shoot-em-up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/retro-grade"><em>Retro/Grade</em></a> asks you to do just that, forcing you to use your brain (and your digits) in a manner which you're almost certainly unaccustomed to. In case you haven't been following it (<em>you terrible dummy</em>), here's the pitch: You're a pilot who's flying his spacecraft through a reversed flow of time, dodging enemy fire as it's sucked back into their ships, while re-collecting your own fired bursts by navigating to the appropriate track and strumming, in time, on a guitar peripheral. (Or a controller, if you're so inclined.)<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/28/retro-grade-preview-a-step-forward-backward/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Retro/Grade preview: A step forward, backward</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/28/retro-grade-preview-a-step-forward-backward/">Retro/Grade preview: A step forward, backward</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 28 Aug 2011 14:30:00 EST. Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik -- the pair of minds behind Penny Arcade, which is the comic behind the major gaming convention that's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2011">happening right now</a> -- have confirmed that PAX will soon find a home in a third location somewhere on the planet. "Yeah, there's going to be a third PAX," Krahulik explained in an interview with us earlier today. "Believe it," Holkins added. We do!<br />
<br />
The duo said they have a city in mind, but didn't divulge which one it is -- a shame, because there are a lot of cities to guess from. During last year's <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/30298/InDepth_Penny_Arcade_Creators_On_The_Future_Of_PAX_Game_Biz.php">PAX Press Q&amp;A</a>, they hinted that a third PAX might come together, perhaps in an overseas locale they'd like to visit. Any international readers have a hometown they'd like to see wholly and completely overrun by <em>gamingkind</em>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/penny-arcade-expo-planning-on-branching-out-to-third-city/">Penny Arcade Expo planning on branching out to third city</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Aug 2011 23:45:00 EST. The studio is best known for its Xbox Live Indie Games and PC releases, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/cthulhu-saves-the-world"><em>Cthulhu Saves the World</em></a> and <em>Breath of Death 7</em>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q3-2011/082611a.html">RPGamer</a> reports that, given the retro nature of Zeboyd's titles, <em>Penny Arcade Episode 3</em> will take on a similar graphical style (think: the 16-bit <em>Final Fantasy</em> games); <a href="http://alexmauer.com/">Alex Mauer</a> will be providing the soundtrack. This marks the first game in the series not developed by Hothead, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/14/hothead-sheds-more-light-on-the-death-of-penny-arcade-adventures/">left the project</a> last year and went on to develop <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deathspank"><em>DeathSpank</em></a>.<br /><br /><em>Episode 3</em> is set to be released in 2012 on "as many systems" as possible. More information will be revealed at PAX East next year ... but that won't stop us from harassing Gabe and Tycho for information <em>all weekend</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/penny-arcade-adventures-episode-3-still-alive-zeboyd-at-the-hel/">Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 3 still alive, Zeboyd at the helm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Aug 2011 15:45:00 EST. One lucky <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2011">PAX</a> attendee will be able to walk away with the custom console above. Warner Bros isn't saying much on how you can win this custom <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city"><em>Batman: Arkham City</em></a> Xbox 360 at Seattle's to-do, though <a href="http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150350112376023.396652.16547831022&amp;type=1">the Facebook page</a> announcing the promotion does offer hope to those who aren't Seattle-bound: Xbox will apparently be giving away the same console at an unspecified later time.<br />
<br />
Feel free to glide on into our gallery below to drool over the thing. On one side, Batman; on the other, Joker. Way in the back, envious that they can't win this thing for themselves:<em> the Joystiq staff. </em><br />

Ubisoft isn't messing around at PAX Prime this year, evidenced by the fact that the company is bringing <a href="http://pressextranet.ubisoft.com/US/US/PublicPages/PressReleasesDetails.aspx?prid=394&amp;title=UBISOFT%C2%AE+BRINGS+LARGEST+LINEUP+EVER+TO+PAX+PRIME">just about every game it's currently working on</a> to the show -- and even some that are already out. Here's the full list:
<ul>
	<li>
		<em>Assassin's Creed: Revelations</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>From Dust</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Just Dance 3</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Might and Magic Heroes VI</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Might and Magic Heroes Kingdoms</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Rayman Origins</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Rocksmith</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Shoot Many Robots</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier</em></li>
	<li>
		<em>TrackMania Canyon</em></li>
</ul>
In addition to having games to play, Ubisoft is also looking for attendees to pre-order upcoming games by hooking them up with exclusive goodies. A pre-order of <em>Future Soldier</em> will net PAX attendees an exclusive gun skin, a <em>Revelations</em> pre-order gives you an Altair avatar, <em>Just Dance 3</em> has a neon watch, <em>Rayman Origins</em> has a custom T-shirt, and pre-ordering <em>Rocksmith</em> gets you an exclusive guitar strap.<br />
<br />
Attendees can also check out the <em>Assassin's Creed</em> panel in the Main Theatre on Friday at 6pm PT. There, Ubisoft will show off single-player footage of the game, hopefully adding to what we've seen come <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/18/nine-minutes-of-assassins-creed-revelations-direct-from-games/">out of Gamescom</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/ubisoft-bringing-the-big-guns-and-the-tiny-hidden-blades-to-p/">Ubisoft bringing the big guns (and the tiny, hidden blades) to PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Aug 2011 15:30:00 EST. Major Nelson, majordomo of all things Xbox, took to his blog this afternoon and <a href="http://majornelson.com/2011/08/22/xbox-360-at-pax-prime-2011/">posted a detailed list</a> of all the games and events that will be spread out across Microsoft's five booths at this week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2011">Penny Arcade Expo</a>. It's about what you'd expect; <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gears-of-war-3"><em>Gears of War 3</em></a> Horde mode, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/forza-motorsport-4"><em>Forza 4</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-3"><em>Mass Effect 3</em></a>, etc, until you get to the list of Booth 432's XBLA titles. Right near the end, snuggled squarely between <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/retro-city-rampage"><em>Retro City Rampage</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/war-of-the-worlds"><em>War of the Worlds</em></a>, is an unannounced XBLA port of <em>Sonic CD</em>.<br />
<br />
We've reached out to Major Nelson and Sega for comment, but as of yet no additional confirmation has been provided by either party. We suspect they're too enthralled by <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPC8W672mXc"><em>Sonic CD</em>'s masterful theme song</a> to even move, let alone respond to our e mails.<br />
<br />

Square Enix has rekindled our interest, announcing that it's picked up publishing rights to the game and will reveal the "top-secret joint project" at PAX this Saturday (7pm in the Pegasus Room for those of you in attendance).<br />
<br />
The only information we can glean from the announcement is that it's "downloadable" and "an incredibly fascinating and quirky game" so ... take that for what it's worth. Airtight Games' site says that while it's working on another "ambitious AAA title" it's also working on "a new mid-sized game with all kinds of physical possibilities." Physical possibilities, eh? That sounds like the one!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/portal-lead-kim-swift-to-debut-downloadable-game-at-pax/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Portal lead Kim Swift to debut downloadable game at PAX</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/portal-lead-kim-swift-to-debut-downloadable-game-at-pax/">Portal lead Kim Swift to debut downloadable game at PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Aug 2011 11:30:00 EST. If the promise of 24/7 board gaming extravaganzas and endless 3DS StreetPass swapping aren't enough to get <a href="http://prime.paxsite.com/">PAX Prime</a> attendees excited about the event, perhaps this will: Notch has announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/minecraft"><em>Minecraft</em></a>'s Adventure Update <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/notch/statuses/90841519468187648">will be playable</a> on the show floor. <a href="http://notch.tumblr.com/post/7276719413/coming-soon">The expansion</a>, which is still largely under wraps, will tack over 40 new features onto the game, including NPC villages, additional farming opportunities and randomly-generated dungeons.<br />
<br />
For those who didn't snag tickets to the sold-out, late-August convention, don't fret too much -- we can only assume the line for Mojang's booth is going to wrap around the expo hall like an anaconda. Your time would be better spent actually playing regular <em>Minecraft</em> and building a complex machine to do all that Adventuring for you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/12/minecrafts-adventure-update-will-be-playable-at-pax/">Minecraft's Adventure Update will be playable at PAX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 17:00:00 EST. The official PAX<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> </span><a href="https://twitter.com/official_pax/status/75552174293262336">Twitter</a> announced today that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2011">PAX Prime 2011</a>, which won't even take place in Seattle until August, is sold out. Full stop.<br />
<br />
Penny Arcade's marketing man Robert Khoo told us previously that the show got clearance to sell about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/psa-pax-prime-passes-dwindling-only-friday-and-sunday-tickets/">10 percent more badges</a> than in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/12/pax-attendance-rises-by-2k-60-750-people-geek-out/">prior years</a>, but that didn't seem to make much of difference.<br />
<br />
It would seem PAX East was a failure on one level: despite welcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/14/pax-east-2011-attendance-69-500-officially-becomes-biggest-pax/">69,500 attendees</a> in March, it did nothing to reduce demand for the Seattle show taking place August 26-28. If you didn't grab tickets and still want to go, prepare to put up a fight with the scalpers.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/31/psa-pax-prime-2011-sold-out/">PSA: PAX Prime 2011 sold out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 May 2011 11:05:00 EST. Guys, we so desperately want to hang out with you in Seattle. We want to take you on a tour of our favorite Starbucks locations. We want to go to the top of the Space Needle with you, and point out our favorite Starbucks locations. We want to take you to the birthplace of grunge and flannel -- but we can't do that if you don't get a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2011">PAX Prime 2011</a> pass.<br />
<br />
According to the event's <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/Official_PAX/status/66498019058651136">Twitter feed</a>, PAX passes are quickly becoming a scarce commodity -- in a tweet this morning, organizers reported, "We are nearly out of 3 day passes for PAX Prime 2011, less than 1k remain." Sure, if those are gone, you can still buy the one-day passes piecemeal; but we're really going to need all 72 hours to show you our favorite Seattle hotspots. Like the Puget Sound! It's so <em>pugety</em> this time of year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/pax-prime-3-day-passes-are-almost-gone/">PSA: PAX Prime 3-day passes are almost gone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 May 2011 10:36:00 EST. Already snagged one of the (quickly diminishing) passes for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2011">PAX Prime 2011</a> in Seattle? Little did you know that you were secretly buying your admission into a second, equally exciting event. At this year's original, Seattle-flavored Penny Arcade Expo, 343 Industries will turn the third floor annex of the convention center into "<a href="http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/news/blog/official-halo-fest-information/49437">Halo Fest</a>," an event the studio describes as "the largest and most expansive live <em>Halo</em> experience ever."<br />
<br />
The event, which will celebrate the franchise's tenth anniversary, will also feature tournaments, panels and giveaways for stoppers-by. Best of all, your entry is guaranteed with a PAX Prime ticket, meaning you have literally no reason to stop by. Unless, of course, you don't like <em>Halo</em>. Or if you're super scared of heights. Three floors is awfully high up, you know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/03/halo-fest-set-to-take-place-during-pax-prime-2011/">Halo Fest set to take place during PAX Prime 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 May 2011 18:40:00 EST. Whether you're a video gaming enthusiast or a member of the industry which sustains itself upon the monies of video gaming enthusiasts, you'd better start getting ready for next Penny Arcade Expo. Not only did registration for <a href="http://prime.paxsite.com/registration.php">PAX Prime 2011 open up</a> earlier today, but an all new event called <a href="http://dev.paxsite.com/index.php">PAX Dev</a> was announced, catering to the interests of game developers in the two days preceding the weekend of August 26, when the main, Seattle-based convention takes place.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://dev.paxsite.com/index.php">new event's site</a> explains its mission statement, saying, "We're shooting for a small (750-ish), intimate setting where digital and pen/paper game developers alike can focus on their craft." As much as we'd love to get all up in that to learn about the deepest brain-thoughts of our favorite developers, the site explicitly states, "No press." That's too bad for us, but shouldn't be a problem for JoySoft, our new spin-off development studio, which is staffed entirely by people who look exactly like us, only with conspicuous-looking mustaches.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/15/pax-prime-registration-open-developers-get-their-own-pax-dev-ev/">PAX Prime registration open, developers get their own PAX Dev event</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Apr 2011 18:00:00 EST. With new forms of distribution for video games come new pricing models. Outlets like Apple's iOS App Store and digital distribution storefronts like Xbox Live Arcade and PSN are challenging the convention of $60 AAA retail titles, and complicating the already peculiar brand of calculus that gamers use when determining "value". Why is $1 okay on iPhone but $6 is too expensive? Why is one ten-hour retail game criticized for being "too short" while others aren't? Why are we so hung up on game length? Join myself and a stellar lineup of panelists as we wrestle with this age-old quandary.<br />
<br />
Panelists include:
<ul>
	<li>
		<b>Chris Hecker</b> is the sole developer behind <em>SpyParty</em>, the as-yet-undated indie "about human behavior, performance, perception, and deception."</li>
	<li>
		<b>Mike Wilford</b> is CEO of Twisted Pixel, the Austin-based developer behind upcoming downloadable titles <em>Ms. Splosion Man</em> and <em>The Gunstringer</em>.</li>
	<li>
		<b>Albert Reed</b> is the studio director and co-founder of Cambridge-based Demiurge Studios, which has worked on everything from <em>Mass Effect</em> on PC to <em>Borderlands</em>, and its first original IP, the downloadable <em>Shoot Many Robots</em>.</li>
	<li>
		<strong>Chris Grant</strong> is a writer who works from home in his pajamas.</li>

Could PAX be heading across the pond? Obnoxious WWII-era names for the Atlantic Ocean aside, a <a href="https://survey.efmfeedback.com/se.ashx?s=705E3EC87926B08E">recent survey</a> from PAX organizers Reed Exhibitions heavily suggest that plans are being made to do just that. Among the three pages of standard survey questions are such giveaways as, "If we brought PAX to the UK, would you attend?" and "If we decide to hold a PAX UK, where would you prefer to see it take place?"<br />
<br />
Notably, the "where would you prefer to see it take place?" question offers a handful of London-based locations, as well as "Outside London" and "Other" options -- unfortunately, "somewhere that doesn't rain all the time" isn't a choice. But hey, we're just kidding Londoners. We'd love <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamescom">another reason</a> to visit your continent!<br />
<br />
When we asked the folks at Penny Arcade what they had to say about it, biz dude Robert Khoo told us, "We're just trying to see if people would be interested." He further noted that "it's not anything we're ready to act on in the near future." How about if we ask real nice? Maybe in an English accent?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/11/pax-organizers-surveying-about-european-expansion/">PAX organizers surveying about European expansion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Feb 2011 17:30:00 EST. You know those Highlights magazines and coloring books you used to doodle in as a kid? Imagine your life depended on your ability to stay within the lines, only your arm had a mind of its own and the image you were coloring is constantly changing as you try to color it. Yeah, we had the same nightmare as kids ... and also, that's pretty much <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/lilt-line"><em>Lilt Line</em></a> on Wii, the first game to be published - as opposed to developed - by Gaijin Games, the predominantly WiiWare dev studio behind the Bit.Trip series.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/09/lilt-line-preview-stay-between-the-lines/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lilt Line preview: Stay between the lines</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/09/lilt-line-preview-stay-between-the-lines/">Lilt Line preview: Stay between the lines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Sep 2010 19:40:00 EST. It's difficult to convey the sheer terror and chaos I experienced in the first few minutes of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/slam-bolt-scrappers"><em>Slam Bolt Scrappers</em></a></em> PAX demo. Though the Firehose Games reps told me how to play, it wasn't preparation enough for the actual game, a combination puzzler/brawler/strategy title that is one of the most unique blends of genres I've ever played. The learning curve was, um, <em>kinda steep!</em><br />

A lot of people have been making a big deal out of multiplayer in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/torchlight-2"><em>Torchlight 2</em></a> -- and rightfully so -- but not so much talk has been about modding. The first game had a substantial mod community, thanks in part to Runic Games offering mod tools for free to all players. And during my demo of the game at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a>, a Runic rep confirmed that the company will once again freely distribute mod tools to the public.<br />
<br />
But because of the addition of multiplayer, I was concerned about how mods will be shared now. The rep confirmed to me that players will be able to use the new multiplayer framework to find games incorporating mods but, better yet, all XP earned in these games will stay with your character. I was promised persistence across all games, be they mods or standard games. <br />
<br />
One final interesting tidbit: all loot dropped in multiplayer games will be client specific. This means that the items you see in your game are only in your game. No need for mad dashes to grab all the high-level loot drops!<br />

During the Xbox Live Enforcement panel at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2010">PAX</a> this past weekend, director of policy and enforcement on Xbox Live, Stephen Toulouse (a.k.a. Stepto), recited "Stepto's Law" for the audience. The <em>complex</em> formula is used to determine the validity of a complaint issued by a banned Xbox Live user. The law goes like this:<br />
<blockquote>
<div>"The more convoluted, overwrought and lengthy the protest of innocence, the probability of it being bullshit approaches one."</div>
</blockquote> Toulouse feels that his law "tends to be almost 100 percent accurate of Xbox Live," but of course there can be exceptions to the rule -- er, <em>law</em>, in this case.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/07/pax-2010-steptos-law-of-xbox-live-ban-protests/">PAX 2010: Stepto's Law of Xbox Live ban protests</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Sep 2010 20:00:00 EST. It may be a holiday here in the US, but the show must go on! This isn't a traditional episode -- instead, we're just talking PAX Prime 2010, answering some questions from Twitter and addressing some fanmail. We're trying to keep it casual, you know, so pull up a chair, grab a frosty beverage and kick it with your X3F buddies below. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
Oh, and we'd like to thank <a href="http://twitter.com/_misterd_">@_misterd_</a> for releasing the butterflies in the wonderful chop above. <br />

When <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deathspank-thongs-of-virtue">DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue</a></em> was first introduced, we were baffled by the mysterious origin of the game's various undergarments of legend. Head past the break and see for yourself.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/06/deathspank-thongs-of-virtues-virtuous-thongs-explained/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue's virtuous thongs: explained!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/06/deathspank-thongs-of-virtues-virtuous-thongs-explained/">DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue's virtuous thongs: explained!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Sep 2010 05:30:00 EST. We've got bad news and good news. First, the bad news: The new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/borderlands">Borderlands</a></em> DLC pack - that's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/11/borderlands-dlc-claptraps-new-robot-revolution-due-in-septemb/ "><em>Claptrap's New Robot Revolution</em></a> - won't include the two most requested features. Those would be a new level cap and a rebalancing of the main game to accomodate the new level cap. And neither of those will be included with the latest DLC. <br />
<br />
Now the good news: They <em>are</em> being included in a free update for the game across all three platforms, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford told a live PAX audience that his studio resisted making it a part of a DLC pack since, if they included those features, "you'd have to buy every previous DLC" to get access to said features. So, instead, Pitchford said they were going to release a "free update to <em>Borderlands</em> that will both rebalance the original game around the level cap and increase the level cap for everyone." <br />
<br />
But Pitchford said the studio still struggled with how high to raise it. On the one hand, Gearbox didn't want to match the 11-point upgrade that many people paid for with the "General Knox" DLC, but on the other the devs didn't want it to be too low, like 5-points. Instead, they came up with another number. "With the current level cap at 61," Pitchford teased, "we realized if we added 8 levels ... "<br />
<br />
The audience groans. <br />
<br />
So the new level cap is 69 and it will be released sometime around the October 12th <em>Borderlands</em> Game of the Year Edition release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/05/free-borderlands-update-will-raise-level-cap-rebalance-main-gam/">Free Borderlands update will raise level cap, rebalance main game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 05 Sep 2010 19:00:00 EST. We can all agree that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-unleashed">Sonic Unleashed</a> </em>had some pretty deep lows -- specifically, the Werehog. But the daytime segments in the game showed promise; <em>almost</em> a return to form. These areas of the game, for the unaware, combined <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-adventure"><em>Sonic Adventure</em></a>-like 3D free-running elements alongside more classical, 2D elements from the series' past. It was easily the highlight of that game. <br />
<br />
And Sega knows it, which explains why <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-colors"><em>Sonic Colors</em></a> is pretty much nothing but those portions of gameplay. That alone would make for a pretty serviceable <em>Sonic</em> game, but Sega has also added Wisps: small alien creatures who imbue Sonic with one-time-use powers.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/">Sonic Colors (E3 2010)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079658"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079659"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079662"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079664"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-colors-e3-2010/#3079676"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/soniccolors05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/05/sonic-colors-preview-wisp-you-were-here/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sonic Colors preview: Wisp you were here</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/05/sonic-colors-preview-wisp-you-were-here/">Sonic Colors preview: Wisp you were here</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 05 Sep 2010 16:00:00 EST. You know how we told you about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/iphone-bit-trip-beat-has-new-levels-multiplayer/">DLC for the iPhone and iPad versions</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Bit-Trip-Beat"><em>Bit.Trip Beat</em></a> a few days back? During an appointment with developer Gaijin Games here at PAX, CEO and designer Alex Neuse confirmed the exact nature of the DLC tracks: they're <em>Bit.Trip Void</em> songs!<br />
<br />
He informed Joystiq that the tracks weren't actually being developed by Gaijin Games, but were instead being crafted by the iPhone/iPad version's publisher, Namco-Bandai. Neuse is looking forward to trying the new tracks, as you'd imagine -- it's not every day you have an opportunity to be stumped by your own game, you know? <br />

Just because you aren't at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2010">PAX Prime</a> this weekend doesn't mean you can't experience at least <em>some</em> of the joys and wonders that the show floor has to offer. For instance, the 10 straight minutes of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/portal-2">Portal 2</a></em> co-op gameplay that we've dropped after the break, courtesy of <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pax-10-portal-2/704062">GameTrailers</a> -- hearing the "oohs" and "aahs" of the crowd on all sides, you'll feel just like you're there! And sure, you might not get a free <em>Portal 2</em> shirt like this session's attendees did, but you can experience a heartwarming robot hug. And isn't that <em>more</em> than enough?<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/portal-2-pax-2010-co-op/">Portal 2 (PAX 2010 co-op)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/portal-2-pax-2010-co-op/#3330991"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/button-push_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/portal-2-pax-2010-co-op/#3330992"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/hug_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/portal-2-pax-2010-co-op/#3330993"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/jumpoffcliff_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/portal-2-pax-2010-co-op/#3330994"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/lasers_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/portal-2-pax-2010-co-op/#3330995"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/levelselect_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div>[<strong>Update 9/9</strong>: We swapped out the cam-capture with a direct feed version, <em>muy</em> better. During development of the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/halo-combat-evolved"><em>Halo: Combat Evolved</em></a>, Bungie actually created a working boat. One map in particular was discussed during today's Bungie panel at PAX 2010 -- an area with several islands where the player would have to navigate from one to the other via watercraft. Bungie showed a video of an early rendering of the craft in use, which very much looked like a futuristic version of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go-fast_boat">a cigarette boat</a>. <br />
<br />
In the end, it was cut from the game -- not because it didn't handle well, but because "it wasn't fun." Personally, we would've liked to try our hand at aquatic <em>Halo</em>ing, but then again we're <em>huge</em> fans of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGkurWAXgZs"><em>Miami Vice</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/halo-combat-evolved-and-the-battle-for-boats/">Halo: Combat Evolved and the battle for boats</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Sep 2010 17:30:00 EST. If you need proof that the upswing of independent game development is having an impact on more mainstream devs, look no further than <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/outland">Outland</a></em>, the upcoming XBLA and PSN release just revealed by Ubisoft during PAX 2010.<br />
<br />
Just tell me this doesn't seem like one of those way-out-there ideas, the product of one-man coding in his spare time: It's a beautifully rendered animated platformer that draws aesthetic inspiration from classics like <em>Out of this World</em> ... oh, and it's sort of based on <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ikaruga">Ikaruga</a></em>.<br />
<br />
Crazy, yes, but also very real and, as I can attest after one of the levels and a boss battle, very beautiful. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/">Outland (first screens)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325826"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325828"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325829"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/outland-xbla-psn/#3325830"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/outland12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/outland-preview-when-shmups-grow-legs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Outland preview: When shmups grow legs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/outland-preview-when-shmups-grow-legs/">Outland preview: When shmups grow legs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Sep 2010 16:00:00 EST. While <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/30/hothead-games-unleashes-swarm-in-2011/">the first trailer</a> for Hothead's <em>Swarm </em>didn't feature any gameplay, it did show off the many,<em> many</em> ways to kill the game's main characters -- those little blue ... <em>things</em>. We're feeling that <em>Lemmings</em> vibe again in this new PAX trailer, which introduces the first gameplay footage.<br />
<br />
All those gruesome deaths? Just as comically effective in game. Worried you weren't going to get <em>Nail'd</em> at this year's PAX Prime? Southpeak Games wants to assure you that you <em>absolutely</em> will -- more to the point, you can stop by the publisher's booth to get some hands-on time with upcoming MX/ATV racer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/naild"><em>Nail'd</em></a> (you see what we did there?). Southpeak is also bringing <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/two-worlds-2">Two Worlds 2</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/battle-vs-chess">Battle Vs. Chess</a></em>, and previously unheard of motorcycle racer <em>SBK-X</em> for attendees to check out.<br />
<br />
Also, if you're over 10 years old, you could try your hand at some <em>Nail'd</em> speed trials for a chance to win the 70cc Mini-Motocross Pit Bike pictured above. While it might not put you in the running for "Toughest Motocross Dude Ever," it's a <em>totally adorable</em> little motorcycle. Who could say no to that? A monster, that's who. If you're a single male hoping to have some casual sex with a large group of PAX attendees you have, tragically, waited too long. Couples, on the other hand, are still encouraged to break out the Mana-brand personal lubricant, head over to <a href="http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cas/1919794030.html">Craigslist</a> and <em>start the revolution</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/pax-nerd-orgy-no-longer-accepting-single-male-participants/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX nerd orgy no longer accepting single male participants</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/pax-nerd-orgy-no-longer-accepting-single-male-participants/">PAX nerd orgy no longer accepting single male participants</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 17:45:00 EST. Back in June, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/28/pax-prime-2010-performers-and-exhibitors-announced/">list of exhibitors and performers</a> was revealed for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2010">PAX Prime</a>, and now the official site just posted the full schedule for this year's show. PAX 2010 is looking <em>especially </em>busy, consisting of the usual Penny Arcade Q&amp;A panels, but also an interesting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kinect">Kinect</a> justification panel, a look at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/30/insomniac-to-announce-new-game-before-pax-demo-it-there/">Insomniac's next PS3 game</a> and the future of PC gaming. Seriously, <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/schedule.php">check out this link</a> -- there's <em>so much</em>, we're getting tired just looking at it!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/13/pax-prime-2010-schedule-revealed/">PAX Prime 2010 schedule revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Aug 2010 22:00:00 EST. The ten independently-developed games that will be featured on the show floor at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-prime-2010">PAX Prime 2010</a> have been announced. There are a few recognizable names in this year's PAX 10 collection, including <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-meat-boy">Super Meat Boy</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.retrocityrampage.com/">Retro City Rampage</a></em>-- but there are also plenty of lesser-known (but assuredly spectacular) indie titles in the mix as well, like the pictured <em><a href="http://pixelante.ca/fowl_space_screens.html">Fowl Space</a></em>.<br />
<br />
Check out the full list of featured titles posted just past the jump, or catch a glimpse of each game in the gallery below. If you want to give the games a once-over at PAX Prime, you might want to grab one of the <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/registration.php">remaining one-day passes</a> for the event.<br />

<a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/index.php">PAX Prime</a>, which is largely considered to be the <em>O.G.</em> of Penny Arcade Expos, doesn't kick off until the weekend of September 3, but that doesn't mean we can't start getting excited <em>right now</em>. A portion of the 70-strong exhibitor list has been released alongside the announcement of this year's musical acts -- a ledger (posted in full after the break) which leads us to the inevitable conclusion that PAX Prime 2010 might be the comic's largest gala to date.<br />
<br />
PAX Prime's "bigger and better" convention hall will play host to big names like 2K Games, Capcom, EA, Microsoft, Nintendo and Ubisoft. The main stage will see a cadre of returning musical acts, including Anamanaguchi, Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, Metroid Metal, The Minibosses, Paul and Storm and The Protomen.<br />
<br />
Tickets <a href="https://v2.interactiveticketing.com/tickets/t27_2010_pax_prime_seattle_1002229d1f/form_purchase.php?step=intro">are available now</a> at $35 for single-day passes and $55 for three-day passes. Given the incredible speed with which tickets for PAX East sold out earlier this year, interested parties probably shouldn't hesitate to register.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/28/pax-prime-2010-performers-and-exhibitors-announced/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX Prime 2010 performers and exhibitors announced</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/28/pax-prime-2010-performers-and-exhibitors-announced/">PAX Prime 2010 performers and exhibitors announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Jun 2010 22:00:00 EST. With the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/28/joystiq-vs-pax-east-2010-day-two/">BBMT-fueled madness</a> of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pax-east-2010">PAX East 2010</a> still fresh in our minds (and bodies), it's already time to pre-register for PAX Prime in Seattle. The <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/index.php">official PAX website</a> is already counting down to the event, which will take place from Friday September 3 through Sunday, September 5. Single day badges are available at $35 each, while a three day pass runs $55. The PAX site notes that prices are slightly higher this year thanks to the Seattle public event tax. Also, remember that the prices above are for pre-registration only. All prices will go up by $5 come September 3.<br />
<br />
We'd suggest <a href="http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/registration.php">grabbing your tickets</a> now before the event inevitably sells out. After all, you don't want to miss magical moments like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/29/pax-east-ken-levine-and-the-hug-that-taught-the-world-to-love/">this</a>, do you?<br />

Though the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-drakes-fortune"><em>Uncharted</em></a> was a well paced and cleverly written experience, it wasn't without its share of largely inoffensive faults. For instance, the game's stealth aspects weren't well publicized to the player, leaving Nathan Drake's instant kill abilities unused for most playthroughs. The game's main antagonist, Navarro, wasn't really demonized in the first half of the game. There were also small plot omissions -- like, for instance, how did Elena and Drake get to their plane after the exciting conclusion of Chapter 3?<br />
<br />
Naughty Dog recently rectified these three issues during a presentation at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-east">PAX East</a> by creating a new, "third-and-a-half" chapter for <em>Uncharted</em>, in which Elena and Drake had to sneak onto an airstrip filled with Navarro's goons, and escape unharmed. With a little help from the audience, the Naughty Dog developers in attendance were able to create a framework for the new chapter, and even bestowed it with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/28/the-uncharted-2-chapter-title-that-should-have-been/">yet another</a> clever moniker: "Strip Search."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/28/naughty-dog-invents-the-missing-uncharted-chapter-at-pax-east/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Naughty Dog invents the missing Uncharted chapter at PAX East</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/28/naughty-dog-invents-the-missing-uncharted-chapter-at-pax-east/">Naughty Dog invents the missing Uncharted chapter at PAX East</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 28 Mar 2010 21:00:00 EST.
