Bizarre Creations' Ged Talbot admitted that the developer's long-running, Xbox (and Xbox 360) exclusive racing series <em>Project Gotham Racing</em> was beginning to lose <em>its sizzle</em>, according to an interview with <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=215380">CVG</a>. Talbot explained, <span class="text_article_body">"By the time we got to <em>PGR4</em> I certainly felt that the time was right to move on and do different things." That's a desire the developer will be fulfilling with its upcoming <em>"Mario Kart</em> meets <em>Forza</em>" racer, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Blur/">Blur</a></em> -- a project Talbot calls "a breath of fresh air."<br /><br />Yes, they're breaking up the monotony of their worn out racing franchise, and rejuvenating their stagnant creative juices by generating a totally new ... racing franchise. A tipster informs us that Microsoft has announced a new batch of <a href="http://www.xbox.com/zh-SG/games/platinumhits/">Platinum Hits for Singapore</a>. The new titles include <em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em>, <em>Forza Motorsport 2</em>, <em>Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> and <em>Lost Odyssey</em>. The new hits all appear to sport the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/new-platinum-hits-packaging-spotted-in-the-wild-looks-snazzy/">new packaging</a> that was spotted last week. All the games, incidentally, are priced at SGD $39.90 (USD $26).<br /><br />It's worth noting that all of these games, aside from <em>Forza 2</em>, have yet to become Platinum Hits in North America. Granted, each region has different titles in the value range, but we'd say it's a safe bet that at <em>least PGR4</em> and <em>Halo 3</em> should make the cut on this side of the pond. Hopefully the redesigned packaging is a sign that Microsoft will announce new titles soon. Stay tuned.<br /><br />[Thanks, Cylus]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/ms-announces-new-platinum-hits-for-singapore/">MS announces new Platinum Hits ... for Singapore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 15:00:00 EST. Microsoft has announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mass-effect"><em>Mass Effect</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a> will soon join the Xbox 360 Classics range in EMEA regions. The three will join the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/gears-forza-2-viva-pinata-become-uk-classics/">Classics club</a> March 20, when they will see their prices reduced to a mere &pound;19.99. This is normally the part of the post where we would tell you a little something about each title, giving you important information to help you make the best purchasing decision. Chances are you've probably heard of all of these by <em>now</em> but who are we to argue with tradition?<br /><br />One of them has cars and the other two have lots of aliens and shooting. The last two might sound similar, but only one of them has <em>really</em> long <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjJu-s2urWU">elevator rides</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/16/halo-3-mass-effect-pgr4-become-classics-march-20/">Halo 3, Mass Effect, PGR4 become Classics March 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Mar 2009 14:30:00 EST. <div align="left"><strong>Update: </strong>According to Xbox.com's <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/catalog.aspx?st=messenger+gold&amp;g=202000000&amp;sd=0&amp;p=1&amp;c=10">accessory page</a>, this new bundle will be available at retailers on <span>October 7th.<br /><br /></span>By golly, that Live 12 month <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/10/rumor-60gb-hdd-3mo-live-and-ethernet-for-99-new-12mo-live/">bundle rumor</a> turned out to be true. Over on Xbox.com, a new listing for a 12 month bundle called the "<a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360messengergoldpack/">Xbox LIVE Messenger Gold Pack</a>" popped up and is listed at $69, which is actually a pretty darn good deal. Included in the Messenger Gold Pack is a 12 month subscription to Xbox Live, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/chatpad">Chatpad</a>, a wired headset and a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a>. Not too shabby, especially for those in the market for Live subscriptions and Chatpads.<br /></div>

Every year (well, at least since being banned from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/e3/">E3</a>) the grand minions of GameStop Corp. descend upon the dessert oasis that is Las Vegas, Nevada -- with a Capital X -- to become better informed about their retail products, so as to make professional recommendations to their far less knowledgeable customer base. With a few cleverly placed posers, 1UP has infiltrated the sore-thumbed masses of regional managers who have traveled great distances to earn bragging rights over the adolescents who, in turn, loiter inside their finely vacuumed establishments. Finally, some payoff for another hard year of underachievement (remember kids, these are just rumors):<br />

    <li>60 GB Xbox 360 hard drive will be $99 with 3 months of Xbox Live and an ethernet cable; or 12 months of Xbox Live for $70 and a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>PGR4</em></a>. Decisions, decisions...</li>
    <li><em>Animal Crossing: City Folk</em> will be bundled with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/nintendo-introduces-the-wii-speak-community-microphone/">Wii Speak</a> "community mic" and sold for $70. (And after this, Nintendo will be done with peripherals. Promise. *Crosses fingers behind back.*)<br /></li>
    <li>GBA's <em>Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories</em> will get a surprise port to ... (wait for it) ... PS2! [Update: As several commenters point out, a <em>Chain of Memories </em><strike>port</strike> remake has been available in Japan since March 2007.] </li>

Downloadable content is a prized nugget we all not-so-secretly hope awaits us after taking any game home, but like the midday sun on a carton of fresh milk, it also has us spoiled. However, with Bizarre Creations now parking its ride in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/reminder-bizarre-not-working-on-pgr5-working-on-new-racing-se/">Activision's garage</a>, the developer stated that it's closing the books on last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a>, adding that it will not be releasing any more new content for the stylish Xbox 360 racer.<br /><br />According to <a href="http://www.bizarrecreations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&amp;p=285029">a recent post</a> on Bizarre Creation's official forums by a dev calling himself "Ben," the studio has washed its hands of the game. "Bizarre Creations won't be adding anything more to <em>PGR4</em> in the future," he wrote. "We've completed the hand-over to Microsoft, so any further add-ons will come from them and not us I'm afraid." The news probably wouldn't sting so much had the last update not been so <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/pgr4-dlc-brings-new-cars-modes-achievements/">incredibly cool</a>, leaving us now waiting to see what else the British studio has up its racing sleeves.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/bizarre-creations-finished-with-pgr4-hands-dlc-duties-to-micros/">Bizarre Creations finished with PGR4, hands DLC duties to Microsoft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 May 2008 02:00:00 EST. And, sadly, we got an answer that we weren't prepared to hear.<br /><br />Ward informed everyone that Bizarre has handed the <em>PGR4 </em>"reigns<em>" </em>over to Microsoft and confirmed that "you won't see any more <em>PGR4 </em>DLC from Bizarre Creations". Though, Ward did leave a minuscule possibility of future <em>PGR4 </em>DLC being released, but it would have to come from Microsoft. Poor <em>PGR4 </em>DLC, we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/14/pgr4-valentines-dlc-is-waiting-for-your-love/">barely knew you</a> but the time we shared was and forever will be some of the best gaming moments of our life ... rest peacefully.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://consoletech.net/forum/front-page-news/422-bizarre-creations-closes-up-pgr4-downloadable-content.html#post896">ConsoleTECH</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/08/bizarre-ends-their-pgr4-support-no-more-dlc/">Bizarre ends their PGR4 support, no more DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 May 2008 13:30:00 EST. First up we have a 400 Microsoft point Premium Challenge Pack which includes an additional seven new cars, three new bikes, a new World Challenge Mode that adds 20 new chapters, a new Tourist Mode and ten additional achievements. It's what we'd call DLC that's "packed full of fun". The other piece of <em>PGR4</em> DLC is the free Challenge Pack which is comprised of a 2007 Peugeot Flux racer, the new Tourist Mode and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/pgr4s-cat-and-mouse-mode-missed-the-update/">Cat and Mouse Mode</a> that didn't quite make the cut last time free DLC was offered. Both packs are available for download off the XBLM right this moment, just be sure to buckle up and watch for deer. The campaign will place anti-drunk driving messages in Xbox 360 racing games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/needforspeed"><em>Need for Speed: Carbon</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a>, and sports titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pes"><em>Pro Evolution Soccer 2008</em></a>.<br /><br />The Scottish government is elated that the campaign will be going forward, as it believes that video games are a great way of reaching younger audiences. Which is all exciting stuff indeed, but Bizarre Creations had another gametype that was supposed to be included in the title update, but it was late to the release party.<br /><br />In press materials that were sent out, Bizarre's community lead Ben Ward mentioned a new <em>PGR4</em> Cat and Mouse free roam gametype that was to be included in today's update. Though, soon after, we received another email retracting the Cat and Mouse release saying that it didn't make it into the new update, but "will be rolled out in a separate update in a few weeks time". So, no Cat and Mouse today, but at least you'll have something to look forward to in a few weeks time. Buried in the Q&amp;A section towards the end of a Bizarre Creations newspost regarding an update to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/update-for-pgr4-changes-cat-and-mouse-mode-adds-tournaments/">Cat and Mouse mode</a> in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PGR4/">PGR4</a></em>, the recently acquired third-party developer (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/26/activision-pockets-project-gotham-dev-bizarre-creations/">Activision nabbed</a> the UK-based devs in September if you'll recall) confirm that they won't be working on <em>Project Gotham Racing 5</em>. Instead, they're hard at work on "a brand new racing series" no doubt full of cars and tracks and all the other thrilling hallmarks of the genre. <br /><br />We'd <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/12/bizarre-likely-to-work-on-existing-activision-ip/">seen reports stating the same</a> - that Bizarre's second, more action-oriented dev-team (think <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/TheClub/">The Club</a></em>) would be working on existing Activision IPs and their accomplished XBLA team (think <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BoomBoomRocket/">Boom Boom Rocket</a></em>) would be continuing with that platform while the <em>PGR</em> team would be working on something new - but confirmation from the developers themselves serves as a nice, short reminder for <em>PGR</em> fans that it's a brave new world for Bizarre.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/reminder-bizarre-not-working-on-pgr5-working-on-new-racing-se/">Reminder: Bizarre not working on PGR5, working on 'new racing series'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 02:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ProjectGothamRacing4/">Project Gotham Racing 4</a> </em>(or as we like to call it, the meaty, primitive husk which envelops and safeguards <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/12/see-geometry-wars-waves-from-project-gotham-racing-4/"><em>Geometry Wars: Waves</em></a>) is going into the shop for a shiny new coat tomorrow, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BizarreCreations/">Bizarre Creations</a> is releasing a free update for the title which will address the concerns of some of their valued vehicular veterans.<br /><strike><br />A major feature of the update</strike> is the <a href="http://www.bizarrecreations.com/article.php?article_id=5288">Cat and Mouse</a> mode's change from a linear race to a free roam chase around the city of your choice. Now, each team will have only one "mouse" car, which must be at least one class lower than the other "cat" cars on its team. Teams earn points by keeping their mouse alive, by having their mouse perform style moves, and by hitting the other team's mouse.<br /><br />Also scheduled for the update are four <a href="http://www.bizarrecreations.com/article.php?article_id=5289">tournament modes</a>: Daily Tournaments (Mon. through Fri.), Super Saturdays, Simulation Sundays, and the Global Cup (a grueling, 512-man event which takes two weeks to complete). Rumor has it that, for a fortnight, the winner gets to sit high upon a tower crafted from the bones of their fallen competitors, and declare supreme dominance over all of Xbox Live. Let us all hope for a merciful and benevolent ruler.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.bizarrecreations.com/article.php?article_id=5288">Read</a> -- Cat and Mouse mode details<br /><a href="http://www.bizarrecreations.com/article.php?article_id=5289">Read</a> -- Tournament mode details<br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong>Apparently, the newly renovated Cat and Mouse mode was late for the morning train, and will not be featured on todays update. However, a Bizarre Creations employee has assured us that the new mode will be "rolled out in a separate update in a few weeks."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/update-for-pgr4-changes-cat-and-mouse-mode-adds-tournaments/">PGR4 update changes Cat and Mouse mode, adds tournaments [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 23:15:00 EST. Welcome to another wonderful edition of X3F Achievements 101. Today's topics of discussion include Major Nelson's warning about gamesaving, sludging through the online multiplayer Achievements of <span style="font-style: italic;">Fuzion Frenzy 2</span>, my experience thus far with <span style="font-style: italic;">Project Gotham Racing 4</span>, and the rather annoying list of Achievements found in <span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. </span>Anyway, all the goodness that you've come to expect is included after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/x3f-achievements-101-all-hallows-achieve/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>X3F Achievements 101: All Hallow's Achieve</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/x3f-achievements-101-all-hallows-achieve/">X3F Achievements 101: All Hallow's Achieve</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 31 Oct 2007 14:45:00 EST. Q: After "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/simpsons-conan-on-xbox-live-monday-monday-monday/">Demo Monday</a>," was anyone expecting <em>more</em> demos to touch down on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-live">Xbox Live</a> today? A: Hell no! But it seems the Live overlords don't mind stuffing more demos down our throats, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/major-nelson">Major Nelson</a> has posted the usual copy and paste announcing the arrival of <a href="http://www.joystq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a> and <em>F.E.A.R. The first demo comes from our pals over at Bizarre Creations and is the critically acclaimed <em><a href="http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/10/09/demo-pgr-4.aspx">Project Gotham Racing 4</a>. </em>Weighing in at a rather hefty 1.27GBs, the demo includes three racecars, two bikes and features an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/18/pgr-4-demo-coming-and-features-exclusive-content/">exclusive</a> N&uuml;rburgring Snow Challenge and an exclusive Arcade event. Oh, and the <em>PGR4</em> demo is available to all Xbox Live locales, w00t, w00t!<br />
<br />
<em><a href="http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/10/09/demo-f-e-a-r-files-extraction-point.aspx">F.E.A.R. Files: Extraction Point</a></em> is the other new game demo and clocking in at 585MBs we presume it to be a single player mission-o-fun that<em> F.E.A.R.</em> fans the world around will enjoy. Funny thing is that the demo is only available to US and Canadian Xbox Live members ... so maybe the world around can't enjoy it. Both demos are available for the free on the XBLM right now, so get your download queue on and give 'em a whirl.<br />

Not only that, but this week we have a <em>lot</em> of new games coming out. Even better, we have some big name titles hitting the 360, namely <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a>. Behold this week's glorious bounty:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em> Project Gotham Racing 4 </em></li>
    <li><em> Flatout Ultimate Carnage </em></li>
    <li><em> Crash of the Titans </em></li>
    <li><em> NBA 2K8 </em></li>
    <li><em> NBA Live 08 </em></li>
    <li><em> Spider-Man: Friend or Foe</em></li>
</ul>
Yup, that's a lot of games. Will it be enough to draw you away from <em>Halo 3</em>?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/01/new-games-this-week-legend-of-zelda-phantom-hourglass-edition/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/01/shipping-this-week-burn-rubber-edition/">Shipping this week: burn rubber edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Oct 2007 15:45:00 EST. In a recent <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=83519">interview</a> with Eurogamer, Bizarre Creations community lead Ben Ward gives this answer, "It's because we had plans for Live Arcade, but <em>Waves</em> isn't it." According to Ward, <em>Geometry Wars Waves</em> isn't really being designed as a full featured sequel to <em>Geometry Wars Retro Evolved</em>, but more as a simple mini-game. <em>Waves</em> is "an Easter egg" as Ward puts it, "not a full retail product." So there you have it folks, <em>Waves</em> may be an exclusive to <em>PGR4</em>, but Bizarre isn't done with Xbox Live Arcade. Hey, maybe when they create their next XBLA game, they can slip in a little mini version of <em>PGR</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xblarcade.com/node/1226">XBLArcade</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/26/gw-waves-not-on-xbla-bizarre-has-other-plans/">GW Waves not on XBLA, Bizarre has other plans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Sep 2007 15:15:00 EST. Do you think a lean, green electric sports car can take on a noisy gas-guzzler? In <a href="http://www.bizarrecreations.com/article.php?article_id=5271">discussing the invitationals</a> planned for <em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em>, developer Bizarre Creations used "Electric vs. Petrol Showdown" as one example, where you in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Roadster">Tesla Roadster</a> face off against a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_Testarossa">Ferrari Testarossa</a>.<br /><br />Can full, unadulterated speed be met without exhuming fossil fuels? It should make for a fun, philosophical monologue while you maneuver around corners. We do warn you, though, that beating the Ferrari in a race may lead to an excess in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smug_Alert!">smug emissions</a>. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/09/18/project-gotham-racing-4-to-feature-an-electric-vs-petrol-showd/">AutoblogGreen</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/19/pgr4-sets-virtual-stage-for-electric-vs-petrol-showdown/">PGR4 sets virtual stage for electric vs. petrol showdown</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Sep 2007 16:25:00 EST. Part of the game's invitational series of races, the challenge is called "Electric Vs Petrol Showdown" and allows players to "take the wheel of a two-seater, silent, electric sportscar (the <a href="http://www.teslamotors.com/">Tesla Roadster</a>) and face-off against a gas-guzzling, noisy, mean machine (the Ferrari Testarossa)." For those that don't know, the Tesla Roadster is reportedly a damned impressive piece of kit, <a href="http://www.teslamotors.com/performance/perf_specs.php">boasting</a> the ability to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 4 seconds. The environmentally friendly super car can also travel 200 miles on a single battery charge. The best part, thanks to <em>PGR4</em>, is that you won't have to spend <a href="http://www.teslamotors.com/buy/buyPage1.php">$98,000</a> (base price, mind you) to try one out.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/09/18/project-gotham-racing-4-to-feature-an-electric-vs-petrol-showd/">AutoblogGreen</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/18/pgr4-features-eco-friendly-race-mode/">PGR4 features eco-friendly race mode</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Sep 2007 17:30:00 EST. A demo from Bizarre Creations' <em>Project Gotham Racing 4 </em>should be hitting Xbox Live soon, according to the developer (via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=83508">Eurogamer</a>). In addition to five playable vehicles (cars and bikes) that presumably will be in the full game, there will be an Arcade mode exclusive to the demo set in Macau, featuring exclusive challenges.<br />We're a bit perplexed about the exclusive content. If it's good, why not include it in the full game. Conversely, if the content is not good, or not on par with the full game, why use it to promote the title?<br /><br />A time trial for Nurburgring Snow will also be in the demo. <em>Project Gotham Racing 4 </em>(with <em>Geometry Wars: Waves</em>) is due out October 2 in North America.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/18/pgr4-demo-to-have-exclusive-content/">PGR4 demo to have exclusive content</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Sep 2007 12:57:00 EST. The five cars / bikes, Arcade mode only Macau portion of the demo will features these exclusive challenges not seen in the retail build. The demo will also include a <em>PGR 3</em> favorite Nurburgring Snow Time Challenge with full leaderboard support, so you'll be able to gawk at your friends' or enemies' rather poor racing skills in the demo. No word to when the <em>PGR 4</em> XBLM will drop, but October 12th is the retail release so hopefully it'll be available before then. Bizarre Creations has hit Ctrl+S for the last time on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pgr4"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a> and has duly sent the code off to be pressed onto millions of DVDs -- which is an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/02/bizarre-clarifies-dvd-limitations-remark/">absolutely marvelous format</a>, we're told. If driving through rain or snow at ludicrous speeds is something you find appealing, you'd best start checking stores <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/project-gotham-racing-4-releases-oct-2-in-us-oct-12-in-europe/">October 2nd</a> in the US and Oct 12th in Europe. If not, ordering online is by far the safer option.<br /><br />If you just plain don't want the game (nor <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/12/see-geometry-wars-waves-from-project-gotham-racing-4/"><em>Geometry Wars: Waves</em></a>), then you should have stopped reading three sentences ago. And you especially shouldn't read <em>this</em> sentence, which mentions the game's <a href="http://pgrnations.com/">official website</a> and a full list of its <a href="http://pgrnations.com/game/news/pgr_goes_gold.htm">virtual vehicles</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pgr4-xbox-360/">PGR4 (Xbox 360)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pgr4-xbox-360/#304065"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgr4june15th_16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pgr4-xbox-360/#304064"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgr4june11th_10-gm_tvr_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pgr4-xbox-360/#304063"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgr4_may4_2007_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pgr4-xbox-360/#304062"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgr4_june22_46_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pgr4-xbox-360/#304061"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgr4_quebec_10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4-motorcycles/">Project Gotham Racing 4 motorcycles</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4-motorcycles/#305704"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgrbike12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4-motorcycles/#305703"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgrbike11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4-motorcycles/#305702"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgrbike10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4-motorcycles/#305701"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgrbike09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4-motorcycles/#305700"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/pgrbike08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/13/project-gotham-racing-4-goes-gold/">Project Gotham Racing 4 goes gold</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Sep 2007 18:55:00 EST. Embedded above is the first <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24811.html">gameplay footage</a> of Bizarre Creations' latest <em>Geometry Wars</em> installment oh so interestingly named <em>Geometry Wars: Waves</em>. First and foremost you must know that <em>Waves</em> will only be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/24/geometry-wars-waves-to-be-pgr4-exclusive/">available</a> within' <em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em> and will not see a separate XBLA release. Secondly, let's look at the gameplay footage since that's the point of this post. From what we see, it looks like <em>Waves</em> is pretty much based off of <em>Retro Evolved</em> (which we fully expected), but with the addition of new enemies and behaviors.<br /><br />The video is rather short, but we get a glimpse at some new triangle enemies that shoot from one side of the map to the other, some double square looking shapes that just sit there and our old friends blue diamonds and green squares. We also noticed that the multiplier system has been tweaked over <em>Retro Evolved</em> allowing players to rack up a high score pretty quickly. Go ahead and give the video a watch to decide whether or not <em>PGR 4</em> is worth purchasing just for this little beauty we call <em>Geometry Wars: Waves</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamestooge.com/2007/09/12/geometry-wars-waves-gameplay-video/">Game Stooge</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/12/video-geometry-wars-waves-gameplay/">Video: Geometry Wars: Waves gameplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Sep 2007 09:45:00 EST. Learning from their <em>PGR 3</em> days, Bizarre opted to make <em>PGR 4</em>'s achievements a little more varied, less focused on difficult to obtain achievements and more fun in general. Our favorites include "Buy an Achievement", "Back it Up!" and "Beat Bizarre" where you have to beat a member of the Bizarre Creations dev team in an online game or someone who has already done so. Also, there are a few secret achievements thrown in for good measure like the "3CZV657" achievement, <a href="http://bttf.wikia.com/wiki/Back_to_the_Future#The_DeLorean_time_machine">DeLorean</a> anyone? Complete list, explanation and attached Gamerscore for all of <em>PGR 4</em>'s achievements is available after the jump.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/10/pgr-4-achievements-race-on-in/">PGR 4 achievements race on in</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Sep 2007 17:15:00 EST. First off, Bizzare has added a few new photo filters and effects including tunnel, vehicle blur and an odd little filter that turns your photo into a 3D image when using a pair of red / blue glasses. Wicked odd, yet utterly nifty. The other Photo Mode improvements come from how a racer's photos will be shared with the rest of the <em>PGR 4</em> community. Using <em>PGR</em> on Demand, gamers will be able to upload their photos, search others, share and rate eachother's photos with ease. It's like a mini<em> PGR 4</em> Flickr account.<br /><br />There's no denying that Bizarre is focusing on creating more of a tight knit <em>PGR</em> community this time around and with the enhanced Photo Mode options we think they're headed on the right track (pun intended). Also, don't forget to check out <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gamerscore/sets/72157601794889507/">preview photos</a> of the types of images you'll be able capture in <em>PGR 4</em> after the break.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/07/new-photo-mode-features-in-pgr-4/">New Photo Mode features in PGR 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Sep 2007 13:15:00 EST. The new geometry shooter will be called <em>Geometry Wars: Waves</em> and will not be available on the XBLA like it's older brother <em>Retro Evolved</em>, instead it'll stay attached to <em>PGR4</em> for the long run. Bizarre Creations also mentioned that the new <em>Waves</em> is based off of <em>Retro Evolved</em> and is not officially considered to be the next game in the series. Whatever that may entail or mean, we know that we're getting a new <em>Geometry Wars</em> on October 2nd. Speaking to <a href="http://www.pro-g.co.uk/news/23-08-2007-6289.html">Pro-G</a> at the Leipzig Games Convention, Bizarre Creations has revealed that a new <em>Geometry Wars</em> game will be featured in October's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/project-gotham-racing-4-releases-oct-2-in-us-oct-12-in-europe/"><em>Project Gotham Racing 4</em></a>. Dubbed "<em>Geometry Wars: Waves</em>," the shape shooter will be an exclusive <em>Project Gotham</em> bonus and unlike <em>Retro Evolved</em>, won't be sold on<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla"> Xbox Live Arcade</a>. That makes for an excellent bonus for racing fans, but a $60 investment for those just hoping to exact revenge on the sneaky green square.<br /><br />Not to worry though, as Bizarre also stated that <em>Wave</em>s is based on <em>Retro Evolved</em> and not a "true" sequel as such. Alternatively, you can be sucked in by the gravity wells of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/15/joystiq-impressions-geometry-wars-galaxies/"><em>Geometry Wars: Galaxies</em></a>, out this Fall on DS and Wii.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/geometry-wars-returns-in-project-gotham-racing-4/">Geometry Wars returning in Project Gotham Racing 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Aug 2007 17:55:00 EST. To sweeten the deal, the also announced some more vehicles in the game, both those with two wheels and four. Personal favorites at X3F Towers in the most recent bunch include the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariel_Atom">Ariel Atom 300 Supercharged</a>, making a return since being introduced in <em>PGR2</em>, and getting "High Def'd" in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PGR3/" style="font-style: italic;">PGR3</a>. Since it would be boring to use some stock <span style="font-style: italic;">PGR4</span> logo as the image for the post, we're grabbing the Ariel's segment from Top Gear and spreading the love. Full list of announced vehicles after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/pgr4s-rubber-hits-the-road-october-2nd/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PGR4's rubber hits the road October 2nd</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/pgr4s-rubber-hits-the-road-october-2nd/">PGR4's rubber hits the road October 2nd</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Aug 2007 17:00:00 EST.
