Control Time ... err, Tim with Braid papercraft

We were a bit caught up in Braid hysteria earlier this week, so we thought we'd table this post until the scalding heat of our passion cooled down a little bit ...

And here we are! Braid artist David Hellman tipped us off to a pair of adorable Braid-themed papercraft projects depicting the game's time-manipulating hero Tim and his ubiquitous foe ... uh, Creature thing. Print out one of Tim, thirty of the Creature, figure out how to control the immutable march of time, then reenact all your favorite scenes.

[Thanks, David]

This is probably a bit old, but we never tire of game-related origami, especially for Team Fortress 2. A sentry gun and paperclip dispenser? Priceless. Instructions can be found in the middle of this forum page. Don't forget it's a free TF2 weekend. Check out the highlights for today:

A papercraft version of level 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. recreated inside an actual Game Boy brick (no worries it was already broken). We can't help but point out in Camera Wences' design, however, that the Game Boy was never in color and never has this version of Mario Bros. Oh well, we should've just called it a clever hack and made a Paper Mario joke. (Via Make) Check out the highlights for today:

We find the Team Fortress 2 Pyro papercraft hilariously ironic, given how flammable we suspect him to be. (Disclaimer: Joystiq advises against the use of flames. There is no respawn in real life.) Check out the highlights for today:

Master Chief papercraft is pinnacle of sadness

Oh cruel fate! Here we are, delivering this exquisite Master Chief papercraft to you complete with instructions, and the only people who would likely take the time to replicate something like this are, you know, playing Halo 3. Bitter irony, thy name is papercraft.

Luckily, the artist's work does not have to be in vain. Laymen like us can appreciate the wood pulp-based sculpture from afar without having to actually pick up the scissors and glue. ... Come to think of it, when the Halo dolls become sentinent (and they will) it's probably better that we have as few of these things lying around as possible.

Finally, Lara Croft papercraft!

Making Link out of paper or spending an afternoon crafting Quake characters is all well and good, but why choose Link when you can sculpt a curvy female forms such as Lara Croft's? Ninjatoes spent grueling hours studying every inch of Lara's polygonal body and has made a papercraft worthy of our attention. With 116 parts, this ain't no paper hat project, so if you want Lara, you'll have to work for her.

We bring you one of the best paper craft project we've seen: an entire StarCraft fleet. Don't worry, we're sure there are people out there who'll still complain how cheap the siege tanks are. Flickr user gluek has a collection of ten photos that he said were created by some "Korean devotees," which may be a slight understatement. Check out the highlights for today:

They're papercraft models, not dolls

Whether it is indicative of the versatility of paper or the dedication of video game fans is unclear, but the fact of the matter is that someone has gone to great lengths to capture Link's likeness in a detailed papercraft model. We find the little fellow to be a strange mix between endearing and creepy, likely the reason why we won't be downloading the accompanying instructions and attempting to fold our very own recyclable Hyrulian Hylian into existence.

Princess Zelda also makes an appearance on the clearly obsessive (yet helpful) website, if only to add a feminine touch to a gaming lineup otherwise dominated by manly Star Trek ships, Advance Wars tanks and sluggish Tomb Raider vehicles (Lara excluded). Site proprietor Ninjatoes certainly does a fine job at making plain 'ole paper more interesting, though it probably comes at the cost of being rubbish at most card games.

Build Sonic a papercraft playground for his Bday

It was the speedy blue hedgehog's fifteenth birthday on Saturday so, to commemorate the occasion, Sega of Japan has created this gorgeous little papercraft (.pdf) of Sonic the Hedgehog's equivalent to World 1-1: Green Hill Zone.

Just cut it out, assemble it, and place it in the center of your retro-gaming shrine and, just for a little while, Mario and his army of nostalgia-laced tchotchkes will play second fiddle to Sonic and his paper playground. Live it up.

Make your own Quake Papercraft

If the Wii controller and Katamari Prince papercraft projects didn't suit your gaming preferences, then try making your own Quake-themed papercraft models of the Shambler and/or Marine. Captain Nod's site has links to models and instructions to build your own DIY nerd sculptures.
