We certainly didn't expect <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</em></a> to be released on DS this week, mostly because it was released on DS in 2007. But new publisher 1st Playable Productions has surprised us all with a DSiWare version. If you missed out on it then, you can get it now without undertaking a heroic journey to the store.<br />
<br />
In addition to subverting our expectations with a "new" game from four years ago, DSiWare also hosts a shmup about conserving ammo.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, WiiWare features a game about ... pouring liquids. But, like, with puzzles and stuff.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/23/nintendoware-weekly-puzzle-quest-overflow/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Puzzle Quest, Overflow</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/23/nintendoware-weekly-puzzle-quest-overflow/">NintendoWare Weekly: Puzzle Quest, Overflow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 May 2011 10:55:00 EST. You'd think after selling a <em>billion</em> iPhone games, the Firemint crew, makers of those <em>Flight Control</em> and <em>Real Racing</em> games on your phone, would go buy a boat or something. But, oh no, they had to be "smart" with their money, <a href="http://firemint.com/2011/firemint-welcomes-steve-fawkner-and-the-infinite-interactive-team/">acquiring</a> <em>Puzzle Quest </em>developer Infinite Interactive to form an even stronger, <em>more</em> independent operation, which "works exclusively on self-published original games." Who do these guys think they are ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/popcap">PopCap</a>?<br />
<br />
It would seem that Firemint starter Rob Murray and Infinite Interactive founder Steve Fawkner, both Aussies, have been <em>casually</em> strategizing for years now. "Steve and I have been talking about working together for a long time, and I remember him showing me an early version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/puzzle-quest">Puzzle Quest</a>,</em>" Murray recalled. "This inspired me to make a game during my own holidays two years later, which was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/flight-control"><em>Flight Control</em></a> -- and now, another two years later, we've finally found a way to work together!" (The financial terms of the deal haven't been disclosed.)<br />
<br />
Infinite Interactive will merge into Firemint's "recently expanded" (how convenient!) offices in Melbourne and continue work on some kind of infectious game that could endanger world health at a bargain price. And then,<em> </em>they'll all probably buy a <em>fleet</em> of boats and retire into Port Phillip Bay.<br />

D3 Publisher has announced a June 30 release date for the XBLA version of <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-2">Puzzle Quest 2</a>,</em> at a price of 1200 Microsoft Points. If you're wondering how you'll possibly survive the agonizing nine-day wait, may we suggest the DS version of the same game? Whether you're bored, cheap or in desperate need of a new on-the-go gaming addiction (perhaps for that long flight out to the west coast for a major <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e3-2010">electronic entertainment convention?</a>), you'll want to hop on the App Store with all available haste to take advantage of a pretty wicked offer. For this weekend only, the first two installments in the pseudo-episodic iPhone version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</em></a> have been rolled into one <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/puzzlequest-chapter-1-and-2/id300573601?mt=8">totally free package</a>.<br />
<br />
The third (and final) chapter of the game is still selling at its usual retail price of $1.99, but we wouldn't worry too much about that. It's not like you'll be compelled to get that far in the game because it's super, super addictive or anything.<br />

"So would you call this a return to form?" I asked <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/infinite-interactive">Infinite Interactive</a>'s Steve Fawkner right before I picked up the controller to play <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-2"><em>Puzzle Quest 2</em></a>. "Yes, very much so," he replied. Fawkner isn't shy about admitting that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix"><em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em></a> deserved a few of the lumps it got from fans ("They didn't like it when minigames blocked progress on the main game"), and so when his team set out to create a full-fledged sequel to the gem-matching, role-playing hit, they wanted a good mix of updated gameplay that didn't stray too far from what made the first title so good.<br />
<br />
And from my short play session, it seems that's exactly what they got. A lot has changed from the first <em>Puzzle Quest</em>, and while fans will miss a few things (my beloved Druid class is gone!), most of the changes are in service to, and succeed at, making the game more fun.<br />

Try not to get your knickers in a twist; <a href="http://www.viddler.com/explore/Joystiq/videos/3415/">based on the trailer above</a>, it doesn't look like traveling between levels will be too taxing of an ordeal. Especially if you just teleport to where you're headed, which may actually reduce the amount of downtime between brawls. Now <em>that's</em> more like it.<br />

We know there have been plenty of pretenders to the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest">Puzzle Quest</a> </em>throne, many developed/perpetrated by developer Infinite Interactive itself. But do you still remember? Is there a place in your memory for those seemingly countless hours you spent peering into your DS, hoping to line up enough red gems to get off that <em>last fire spell</em> before you were overwhelmed by a giant spider? Do you remember? More importantly: Have the countless clones and wannabes completely dulled your desire for a return to the world of puzzle quest?<br />
<br />
You'll have on opportunity to answer that question for yourself as publisher D3 has just announced that the follow-up, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-2"><em>Puzzle Quest 2</em></a>, will arrive in North American shops on June 22 according to <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/63742">Shacknews</a>. Can't wait a month? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/30/puzzle-quest-2-mage-trainer-demo-cast-onto-facebook/">OK, fine, here</a>. Just don't spoil your dinner.<br />

If you've played the impossibly addictive gem-swapping RPG known as <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest">Puzzle Quest</a>, </em>you probably won't find yourself in uncharted waters when you check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-2">game's upcoming sequel</a>, due out this June. Still, if you need a refresher course, or if you're an untainted newbie, you should check out the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/search/?post_form_id=9e8408cfdebe939587b11fac6a4ab2fa&amp;q=puzzle%20quest%202%20mage%20trainer&amp;init=quick&amp;ref=search_loaded#!/PuzzleQuest2?ref=search&amp;sid=42203216.1571103160..1"><em>Puzzle Quest 2 Mage Trainer</em></a> game on Facebook. <br />
<br />
It serves as a surprisingly comprehensive demonstration of what the series' combat feels like, though it lacks some of <em>Puzzle Quest</em>'s RPG trappings. Mercifully enough, it also lacks <em>Puzzle Quest</em>'s hyper-repetitive music.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/30/puzzle-quest-2-mage-trainer-demo-cast-onto-facebook/">Puzzle Quest 2 'Mage Trainer' demo cast onto Facebook</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Apr 2010 15:00:00 EST. <em>It's a holiday miracle!</em> Though there are a few intriguing items in <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/12/17/%E2%80%98heads-up%E2%80%99-playstation-store-update-17th-december-2009/">this week's PSN update</a> (such as the long overdue release of <em>Braid</em>, a demo for <em>Army of Two: The 40th Day</em> and <em>Beatles: Rock Band</em>'s "Rubber Soul" DLC), the highlight of this latest update is the <em>delectable</em> set of discounts. Some games have had their prices temporarily reduced, such as <em>Battlefield 1943</em> and <em>Burnout Paradise</em>. Others, such as <em>Puzzle Quest</em> and <em>The Cube</em>, have been permanently encheapened. Click past the jump to see the full list of additions and discounts!<br />

<div style="text-align: left;"><strong>Update:</strong> As some commenters have pointed out, it looks like the deals are no longer available. We hope you managed to snag one.<br />
 </div>
We bet you were really hoping to not spend an extra five dollars today. We're sure you thought to yourself that you've got plenty of games to play and, honestly, what could you buy with five bucks anyway? The answer: <em>Worms 2: Armageddon</em> on Xbox Live Arcade. The good people at <a href="http://www.cheapcollegegamers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4881">CheapCollegeGamers</a> have uncovered a pair of great deals on Amazon. First and foremost, <em>Worms 2</em> is available for a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002EAYCIA/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20">paltry $5</a>, fifty percent off the usual $10 price tag. If you don't have it already, it would be crazy <em>not</em> to buy it at that price.<br />
<br />
Amazon is also offering <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em> at a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0021L8MDS/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20">discounted price of $10</a>, half of the normal $20 cost. Granted, it's not quite as easy to recommend <em>Galactrix</em> as <em>Worms 2</em>, but $10 is a <em>much</em> more palatable price. Now go buy <em>Worms 2</em>.<br />

As exciting as the prospect of <em>Puzzle Quest in Space</em> might have been, the excitement offered by <em>Galactrix</em> was completely derailed by the game's <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">outrageously lengthy load times</a>. However, in <a href="http://kotaku.com/5416076/no-loading-time-problems-for-ds-sequel?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+kotaku%2Ffull+%28Kotaku%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader"><a href="http://kotaku.com/5416076/no-loading-time-problems-for-ds-sequel?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+kotaku%2Ffull+%28Kotaku%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">a recent interview with Kotaku</a></a>, D3 Publisher's Michael Cerven claimed that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/puzzle-quest-2-coming-to-ds-xbla-in-spring-2010/">recently announced <em>Puzzle Quest 2</em></a> won't be plagued by the frequent intermissions, as developer Infinite Interactive "rebuilt the DS engine from the ground up to be fast and perform smoothly with very quick load times as opposed to retrofitting the lead SKU code for the DS."<br />
<br />
If Cerven's claims are true, we suppose this is good news for the impatient puzzle-solvers out there. However, we got <em>so much stuff</em> done during <em>Galactrix</em>'s near-constant loading screens. We even learned to speak Esperanto! <em>Ĉi tiu estas rakonto pri videoludoj!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/d3-publisher-puzzle-quest-2-wont-have-galactrixs-load-time-is/">D3 Publisher: Puzzle Quest 2 won't have Galactrix's load time issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 15:40:00 EST. It'll be out in spring 2010, along with every other game you've ever heard of, which means that you'll now have the choice to play <em>all those games </em>or <em>Puzzle Quest</em>. They'll occupy about the same amount of time.<br />
<br />
<em>Puzzle Quest 2</em> will let players match gems as one of four new character classes: War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian, or Assassin, using "all-new weapons, spells, and shields." Sorry if you <em>just</em> got over a <em>Puzzle Quest </em>addiction.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/puzzle-quest-2-coming-to-ds-xbla-in-spring-2010/">Puzzle Quest 2 coming to DS, XBLA in Spring 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 09:30:00 EST. It appears that <a href="http://www.gamepro.com/article/news/213077/new-puzzle-quest-revealed-in-january-gamepro/">GamePro</a> will reveal the first details of <em>Puzzle Quest 2</em> in its next issue. Beyond a single image, the mag doesn't drop any details on its website. After Infinite Interactive went a tad off course with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Galactrix/"><em>Galactrix</em></a> -- meanwhile, developing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-kingdoms"><em>Puzzle Kingdoms</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-chronicles"><em>Puzzle Chronicles</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Neopets-Puzzle-Adventure"><em>Neopets Puzzle Adventure</em></a> -- it's good to see the team going back to its roots.<br /> <br /> From the image, it seems that <em>Puzzle Quest 2</em> is being developed for Xbox 360, but if it's anything like its predecessor, the game will eventually release on every console, handheld and electronic device known to man. One can also deduce that purple is now a rune for spells instead of XP. But what purpose do the gloves serve? We're sure to learn more very soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/26/puzzle-quest-sequel-revealed/">Puzzle Quest sequel revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Nov 2009 14:00:00 EST. The excellent and addictive <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest</em></a> gets half off this week for Xbox Live Gold Members. <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/09/07/deal-of-the-week-puzzle-quest-400-points.aspx">Major Nelson</a> sends word by necromantic carrier pigeon that the jewel-dropping epic will cost a mere 400<span class="album_title"><img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($5)</span>. <br /><br />Even if you aren't interested in the game at the moment, may we suggest picking it up as a "boredom insurance policy?" Seriously, the first time you get bored, just boot up <em>Puzzle Quest</em> and you'll come out of the trance sometime the following week. Hey, listen ... we said it was an insurance policy against boredom -- nothing about you being able to keep your job, spouse or grades after starting. <br /><br /><a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/games/offers/00000001-0000-4000-8000-000058410896?cid=Majornelson&amp;partner=Majornelson" target="_blank">Queue <em>Puzzle Quest</em> to download on your Xbox 360</a><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-challenge-of-the-warlords-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-challenge-of-the-warlords-xbla/#430161"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/10/1516462026_95dc4a545d_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-challenge-of-the-warlords-xbla/#430160"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/10/1516455886_80e17f6847_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-challenge-of-the-warlords-xbla/#430159"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/10/1515614741_2c19621ad5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-challenge-of-the-warlords-xbla/#430158"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/10/1516470420_27dd06ef63_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-challenge-of-the-warlords-xbla/#430157"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/10/1515611805_e0ec1d5653_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/07/puzzle-quest-ventures-to-5-this-week-on-xblm/">Puzzle Quest ventures to $5 this week on XBLM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Sep 2009 19:15:00 EST. RPG story-telling meets space combat ... meets Trophies. However, although the game is $20, don't expect a Platinum out of this one.<br /><br />

The <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/05/05/puzzle-quest-galactrix-hits-psn-this-thursday-may-7th/">PlayStation Blog</a> has sent a sub-space transmission that <em>Puzzle Quest: </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/galactrix"><em>Galactrix</em></a> will materialize on the service this Thursday, May 7, for $20. The <em>Puzzle Quest</em> sequel arrived earlier this year on other platforms to <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/search/process?sb=0&amp;tfs=all&amp;ts=galactrix&amp;ty=0&amp;x=15&amp;y=8">mixed reviews</a> -- with the DS version having its own <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">special loading issues</a>.<br /><br />So, take a spin around the galaxy this Thursday, and hopefully the jumpgate hacking missions won't make you experience <em>Galactrix</em>'s patented brand of frustration.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/puzzle-quest-galactrix-jumps-onto-psn-this-week/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix jumps onto PSN this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 17:45:00 EST. For those of you out there that decided to pick up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix"><em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</em></a> this week, you might be interested to know that you can square off with the developers tonight on Xbox Live. For your chance to play, simply send a friend request to one or all of the gamertags below. The developers will be on Xbox Live starting at 8:00pm Eastern Time and will be playing until 10:00pm. According to the event details on the 360 dashboard, you should be ready to play within half an hour of the event. All that's left is to hope you get an invite from one of the developers.<br /><br />If you <em>do</em> get to play with a developer, do us a favor and ask what's up with the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">load times on the DS version</a>.<br />

We take no pleasure in admitting that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</a> </em>on the DS was a poorly designed, <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">loading-time-riddled</a> heart breaker. So, it's with no small amount of trepidation and a modicum of hope that we report the XBLA version of the game will arrive on April 8 for <strike>an undisclosed price</strike>. [<strong>Update: </strong>Just heard back from D3. <em>Galactrix </em>will run you 1600 points, or $20.]<br /><br />Though its DS counterpart hurt us and hurt us badly, we're hoping that the XBLA version fares much, much better. We're not sure all the problems can be fixed by porting the game to a different box, but we'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/puzzle-quest-galactrix-beams-down-to-xbla-on-april-8/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix beams down to XBLA on April 8 [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/puzzle-quest-galactrix-beams-down-to-xbla-on-april-8/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix beams down to XBLA on April 8 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Apr 2009 10:14:00 EST. The stars are pointing to an almost simultaneous release of <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> on DS, PC and XBLA; currently, the Xbox 360 version is the only one not "officially" confirmed. <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/02/puzzle_quest_galactrix_coming.php">GamerBytes</a> noticed earlier today that Xbox.com listed a February 24 release date for the RPG puzzle title. The page is, as of this writing, still <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pqgalactrixxboxlivearcade/">live with the date</a>. Of course, a problem with that release date is that it marks a Tuesday ... which doesn't really fit in with that whole <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblawednesday/">Xbox Live Arcade <em>Wednesday</em></a> thing. Oh yeah, also, it says "2/24/2008," which would be last year.<br /><br />Publisher Aspyr has <a href="http://www.aspyr.com/software/news/104/258">confirmed</a> the Feb. 24 PC release date, which follows the confirmation of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-warps-onto-ds-feb-24/">DS</a> date a couple of weeks ago. By Grabthar's hammer, we hope <em>Galactrix</em> hits that Wednesday. We'd rather avoid another <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/this-wednesday-puzzle-quest-and-toyota-advergame-hit-xbla/">six-month wait</a> like we endured with the original <em>Puzzle Quest</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/galactrix-coming-to-pc-on-feb-24-xbla-date-unconfirmed/">Galactrix coming to PC on Feb. 24, XBLA date unconfirmed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 15:55:00 EST. Versions for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC are planned for "early 2009." <br /><br />We've sent Bothans to gather more intel on a specific release date for our home systems, because like our obsession with <em>The Real Housewives of Orange County</em>, we prefer to keep our gem-shifting vice behind-closed-doors.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-warps-onto-ds-feb-24/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix warps onto DS Feb. 24</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 19:06:00 EST. As hinted by the official <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> <a href="http://www.playpuzzlequestgalactrix.com/">flash demo</a>, the game has been confirmed by D3Publisher (via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/puzzle-quest-galactrix-heading-to-psn">Eurogamer</a>) to have a planned release on the PSN. <em>Galactrix</em> will be similar to the original <em>Challenge Of The Warlords</em> in terms of gameplay, but will feature a science fiction setting, rather than a fantasy one. If you haven't played <em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</em> yet, be sure to give it a go. You've no excuse really, it's on practically every system available.<br /><br />Currently price and release date info is a mystery, but <em>Galactrix</em> is supposed to release around March.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-boldly-going-to-psn/">Puzzle Quest Galactrix boldly going to PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 11:15:00 EST. A Flash demo is <a href="http://www.playpuzzlequestgalactrix.com/">available now</a> for those looking to try <em>Puzzle Quest</em>'s sci-fi follow-up, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/galactrix"><em>Galactrix</em></a>. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/20/joystiq-e3-hands-on-puzzle-quest-galactrix/">rules may be slightly different</a> (the no extra turn for 4-of-a-kind is a doozy), but be warned, star gazing gem shifters: the refined spice which made the fantasy realm of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest</em></a> so addictive is still quite potent in this new form. <br /><br /><em>Galactrix</em> is expected to arrive the relatively near future for Nintendo DS, PC, XBLA and PSN. The demo doesn't seem to take prisoners, so hit the enemy with lasers and use shields when opportunity allows.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2009/01/19/puzzle-quest-galactrix-demo-trialable-online/">X3F</a>, <a href="http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74956">Evil Avatar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/resistance-is-futile-puzzle-quest-galactrix-launches-flash-demo/">Resistance is futile: Puzzle Quest Galactrix launches Flash demo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 18:59:00 EST. What's this? A European PSP Store update? Not only that, but a <em>good</em> one. You've got some nice content to choose from here. <em>Puzzle Quest</em> and <em>Crash Bandicoot 3</em> are our top picks, but you might also be interested in the various wallpapers and videos. Make sure you send SCEE a positive message by purchasing something, that way they might update the EU Store more than once a month. Here's the full release list:<br />

When <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/joystiq-hands-on-neopets-puzzle-adventure-pc/">we raved</a> about the Othello-based, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/neopets-puzzle-adventure"><em>Neopets Puzzle Adventure</em></a>, we couldn't scrub away the sadness of endorsing something built on a Tomagotchi-knock-off. We name-dropped how it's being developed by Infinite Interactive, creators of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest</em></a>, but that wasn't enough. We shivered for weeks.<br /><br />Capcom let us know that the PC and DS versions are due by the end of October, while a Wii edition is coming later. So you'll soon be able to share our love of the puzzler (and self-loathing). For PS3 owners somehow unacquainted with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest">Puzzle Quest</a></em>, we suggest stocking up on antibiotics and extra time. D3Publisher has revealed plans to bring not only the original <em>Puzzle Quest</em> but also its recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/03/puzzle-quest-1-5-gets-name-dubbed-revenge-of-the-plague-lord/">fan-named expansion</a>, <em>Revenge of the Plague Lord</em>, to the PlayStation Store this winter, a move that according to our calculations will make it scientifically impossible not to have lost sleep playing the puzzle-RPG hybrid.<br /><br />Both titles will be released as a single purchase and download, though the publisher has not announced how much the time sink combo will cost. The game that's already on literally every other system is finally headed for the PSN. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</em></a> will be bundled with the <em>Revenge of the Plague Lord</em> expansion pack when it is becomes available for download for the PS Store later this winter, D3 Publisher announced. <br /><br />For those unfamiliar with the game, Puzzle Quest is a role-playing game that uses puzzles in place of tradtional RPG battles. The <a href="http://www.puzzle-quest.com/popup.html">expansion</a> will include new professions, new spells and new areas to explore. No exact pricing or release date have been announced, but considering how long PS3 owners had to wait for this game, a comparatively lower price point might make this title a bit more enticing.<br /><br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/puzzle-quest-challenger-of-the-warlords-to-be-bundled-with-expa/">Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords to be bundled with expansion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Oct 2008 14:45:00 EST. Last we heard about a <em>Puzzle Quest</em> game coming over to the PS3, it was a slight nod found <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest">tucked away</a> under a pile of PEGI-rated titles. This time around it's yet again another shy mention, but one that comes straight from publishers D3 themselves.<br /><br />Listed under the company's <a href="http://www.d3p.co.jp/tgs2008/">TGS 2008 lineup</a>, <em>Puzzle Quest</em> is mentioned as a downloadable PS3 title. This one is probably one and the same as the title that was discovered under PEGI previously. Not much else was revealed; the game doesn't even have a logo like the other titles on the list. We guess we'll see the game at the show. It looks like it'll be going to Europe and Japan, we'll just have to find out if North America will get some puzzle questing done too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/d3-officially-brings-puzzle-quest-to-ps3-and-tgs/">D3 officially brings Puzzle Quest to PS3 and TGS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Sep 2008 10:30:00 EST. Following in the European Store's footsteps, two full PSP games have been placed on the American PC Store today. Not only that, but there's also a demo and a theme to grab. We recommend getting your paws on <em>Puzzle Quest</em>, as it's a great game to have on your memory stick "just in case," without taking up your UMD drive. Here's the full release list:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em>Untold Legends</em> full game ($14.99)</li>
    <li><em>Puzzle Quest</em> full game ($14.99)</li>
    <li><em>Pipe Mania</em> demo (free)</li>
    <li><em>Buzz! Master Quiz</em> theme (free)</li>

D3 Publisher will be extending its range of newly announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/d3-publisher-bringing-puzzle-quest-dead-head-fred-more-to-ps-s/">PSP downloadable titles</a> to Europe. While there is no pricing info nor release date, the company has listed which games it will be making available for download in Europe in Q4 2008. These are <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzlequest">Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cube">Cube</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pq">Practical IQ</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-head-fred">Dead Head Fred</a>, Beta Bloc</em> and <em>Super Pocket Tennis. </em><br /><br />So, for the most part these releases are the same as D3 Publisher's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/d3-publisher-bringing-puzzle-quest-dead-head-fred-more-to-ps-s/">upcoming US downloadable releases</a>, with the exception of <em>Beta Bloc</em> and <em>Super Pocket Tennis</em>. We'll update you with a release schedule and pricing as soon as we find out. If the price is right, a number of these games would make a perfect impulse buy.<br /><br />[Via Press Release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/d3-publisher-reveals-european-psp-download-lineup/">D3 Publisher reveals European PSP download lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Sep 2008 14:30:00 EST. While it doesn't quite fulfill our wish list of PSP games we'd most want to purchase by download and run from a single Memory Stick, D3 Publisher's "classic" catalog is coming to PlayStation Store (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/playstation-store-now-live-grab-psp-content-from-your-pc/">the PC one</a>) this September. Props for being ahead of the curve. Up for digital delivery will be:<br />

<p> The keen eyes at <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/08/14/puzzle-quest-parading-on-the-ps3/">Siliconera</a> have done it yet again! They've spotted <em>Puzzle Quest</em> for the PSN. <em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords - Revenge of the Plague Lord</em> is a downloadable PSN game with online play, according to the ratings service. Considering <em>Puzzle Quest</em> successfully launched on pretty every console imaginable, we don't doubt that D3 is looking to expand their fanbase and sell more copies of their addictive puzzle-RPG hybrid.<br /><br />We've embedded footage of the XBLA version for your reference.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/16/puzzle-quest-discovered-on-pegi-website/">Puzzle Quest discovered on PEGI website</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 16 Aug 2008 14:00:00 EST. Gaming buffet <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gametap">GameTap</a> just announced that THQ- and ValuSoft-published titles will begin finding their way onto the service starting this summer. Notable titles include:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em>Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War</em> and expansions</li>
    <li><em>Company of Heroes</em></li>
    <li><em>Red Faction</em></li>
    <li><em>Supreme Commander</em></li>
    <li><em>Saints Row 2</em></li>
    <li><em>Puzzle Quest</em></li>
    <li><em>S.T.A.L.K.E.R.</em></li>
</ul>
It's nice to see relatively new titles like <em>Supreme Commander</em> make the list. We're also curious to find out if <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/saints-row-2"><em>Saints Row 2</em></a> releases on the service the same day as retail, similar to GameTap's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/gametap-thursday-jericho-jericho-jericho-but-try-overlord/">deal with Codemasters</a>. The THQ agreement is apparently a "long-term partnership" and some titles will also be made available on GameTap's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gametapthursday">free ad-supported service</a>. This THQ announcement comes only a few months after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/gametap-welcomes-back-interplay-adding-more-take-two/">Interplay returned and Take-Two committed</a> to the service.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/22/thq-games-joining-gametap-this-summer/">THQ games joining GameTap this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Jul 2008 16:30:00 EST. They've both been quite some time in coming, and this Wednesday will see the release of new downloadable content for games that are themselves downloadable. <em>N+ </em>will be getting a new level pack which contains 150 single player levels, and 50 co-op levels, all for 200pts (which, as<a href="http://www.metanetsoftware.com/blog/?p=54"> the devs point out</a>, equates to a point per level). As for <em>Puzzle Quest,</em> its player named DLC, <em>Revenge of the Plague Lord</em>, will contain 4 new classes, a new map area, 25 new quests, 40 more items and a raise of the level cap. The <em>Puzzle Quest </em>expansion <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=19508">will be priced</a> at 700pts. <br /><br />[<a href="http://www.metanetsoftware.com/blog/?p=54">Source</a> <em>N+</em>]<br />[<a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=19508">Source</a> <em>Puzzle Quest</em>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/22/2x-xbla-dlc-this-wednesday-n-and-puzzle-quest/">XBLA DLC this Wednesday: N+ and Puzzle Quest</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Jul 2008 08:45:00 EST. Those jewels you've been collecting are about to get a whole lot more infectious, as D3Publisher announced that its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/03/puzzle-quest-1-5-gets-name-dubbed-revenge-of-the-plague-lord/">player-christened</a> <em>Puzzle Quest</em> expansion, <em>Revenge of the Plague Lord</em>, will infest Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, July 23. <br /><br />Develped by <em>Puzzle Quest</em> devs, Infinite Interactive, the 700 Microsoft Point update will offer a virulent mass of new content, including 25 new quests, 50 new spells, 40 new items, and four new heroes, as well as the ability to build up characters to level 60. In addition, <em>Revenge of the Plague Lord</em> will also add three new Achievements to the popular puzzler, giving us plenty to feed our fever until <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/galactrix/">we look to the skies next year</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/puzzle-quest-update-to-infect-xbla-this-wednesday/">Puzzle Quest update to infect XBLA this Wednesday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 23:30:00 EST.
