The company raked in net revenue (read: gross income) of $415.7 million during that period; a 75.9 percent increase over the $236.3 million it earned in Q3 of fiscal 2012.<br /><br />Net income (read: profit) was also up year-over-year, $71.3 million during Q3 2013 versus $14.1 million in 2012, which is an astonishing 405.9 percent increase. Meanwhile, Take-Two's nine month year-to-date figures are reporting a <em>loss</em> of $51.9 million, down from the $41.9 million loss reported at this same time in fiscal 2012.<br /><br />Revenues accrued from digital sales were up 244 percent year-over-year, an increase that Take-Two attributes to <em>Borderlands</em>, <em>Borderlands 2</em>, <em>XCOM: Enemy Unknown</em>, <em>NBA 2k13</em>, the Grand Theft Auto series and all of those games' respective DLC.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/05/take-two-interactive-bags-405-year-over-year-profit-increase-du/">Take-Two Interactive bags 405% year-over-year profit increase during Q3 2013</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Feb 2013 16:55:00 EST. For the third year straight, Activision generated more than $1 billion of operating cash flow in the trailing 12-month period ending this quarter, on September 30.<br /><br />Activision is in the black, with $3.4 billion available in cash and investments, and no debt to speak of, Activision Chief Financial Officer Dennis Durkin reports during a financial call.<br /><br />"On September 30, we had no debt and $3.4 billion in cash and investments," Durkin says.<br /><br />Activision cites <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/world-of-warcraft-mists-of-pandaria"><em>World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/diablo-3"><em>Diablo 3</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/skylanders-spyros-adventure"><em>Skylanders Spyro's Adventure</em></a> as its main revenue drivers: <em>Mists of Pandaria</em> sold through 2.7 million copies in its first week, <em>Diablo 3 </em>has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/07/diablo-3-surpasses-10-million-sold/">sold 10 million copies</a> and <em>Skylanders </em>was the No. 1 action-figure line in the US for the first nine months of 2012, and topped game-sales charts.<br /><br />With all that considered, plus the imminent launch of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops-2"><em>Black Ops 2</em></a>, Activision raises its calendar-year outlook from $4.3 billion to $4.6 billion.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/07/activision-reports-3-4-billion-in-cash-and-investments-no-debt/">Activision reports $3.4 billion in cash and investments, no debt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2012 17:30:00 EST. Specifically, the social-gaming developer has reported a loss of $52.7 million over the course of Q3 2012, as compared with the $12.5 million in profit it experienced during Q3 2011.<br /><br />The picture is much the same for the company's year-to-date financial situation, which places total revenue for 2012 at $970.1 million (well above 2011's $828.8 million), but still reports an overall loss of $160.8 million. By this time last year, Zynga was in the black to the tune of $30.6 million dollars.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2012/10/24/499574/10009690/en/Zynga-Reports-Third-Quarter-2012-Financial-Results.html">statement</a> also makes mention of yesterday's events, with the closure of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/23/zynga-ceo-mark-pincus-letter-to-employees-losing-5-of-full-ti/">Zynga Boston and significant reduction of staff at Zynga Austin</a>, both of which were part of a grander Cost Reduction Plan: "Zynga expects to complete a reduction in force of approximately 150 employees or approximately 5 percent of its current workforce, and implement additional cost reduction measures, including steps to rationalize its product pipeline, reduce marketing and technology expenditures and consolidate certain facilities."<br /><br />It's worth noting that the "150 employees" referenced are full-time employees, and any contract/part-time workers terminated under the Cost Reduction Plan will not be counted towards that total.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/24/zynga-posts-loss-of-52-7-million-in-q3/">Zynga posts loss of $52.7 million in Q3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Oct 2012 17:00:00 EST. The price is $14.99, which is much, much cheaper than the &yen;3,900 ($49) asking price in Japan.<br /><br />In case you missed our coverage, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tokyo-jungle"><em>Tokyo Jungle</em></a> is an oddly fascinating game in which you control one of 50 different animals - ranging from a chick to a dinosaur - trying to survive, find food, and mate in a ruined, post-apocalyptic Tokyo. A story mode takes you through the lives of a set of animals "whose lives are intertwined as they struggle to survive in the Tokyo wilderness, while unraveling the mystery of mankind's disappearance." In Survival Mode, you stay alive for as many generations as you can, hunting (or foraging), claiming territory, and avoiding larger predators.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/20/tokyo-jungle-finds-a-nest-in-north-america-september-25/">Tokyo Jungle finds a nest in North America September 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Aug 2012 12:35:00 EST. "We're pretty much complete," Hello Games head Sean Murray told us at Gamescom during a demo of the upcoming 2D Xbox Live Arcade racer. "We're showing the full game here, and hopefully people like it. Hopefully that means we're nearly finished," he said with a smile.<br /><br />Thankfully for fans excited for the new game, reception at Gamescom was very positive. "It's been good, so the game is actually probably gonna come out in the next month or so. Something like that," Murray said. <br /><br />There's only one thing standing between Joe Danger 2: The Movie and launch - certification. "That's where we're heading into now. We're doing the final, 'We shouldn't be changing anything, but we are.' Don't tell our QA!" And what about PlayStation 3 or PC versions? "At the moment, we're just showing and talking about 360. We kind of haven't made any other announcements or anything like that," Murray said. But? "But obviously the original came out on PS3 and 360, so ...," he trailed off. Take that as you will!<br /><br />You'll also be glad to hear that the game is a load of fun - expect a full writeup from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamescom-2012">Gamescom 2012</a> later today.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/20/joe-danger-2-the-movie-flipping-to-xbla-probably-in-the-next-m/">Joe Danger 2: The Movie flipping to XBLA 'probably in the next month or so'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Aug 2012 10:35:00 EST. Oh, yeah. Indiana-based developer Rapture Game Studios plans to put its first game, the horizontal scrolling shooter <em>Gunblitz,</em> on the diminutive Android console in March.<br /><br />Before that console is finally Kickstarted into existence, Rapture plans to put <em>Gunblitz</em> on regular-sized PCs in September. Rapture has already released a <a href="http://www.rapturegamestudios.com/games.php">demo</a> of this PC version - thereby anticipating the pseudo-free-to-play model of the Ouya, and letting you try the game out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/30/indie-shooter-gunblitz-blasts-ouya-in-march-pc-in-september/">Indie shooter 'Gunblitz' blasts Ouya in March, PC in September</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jul 2012 10:00:00 EST. Indeed, <em>Grand Theft Auto 3</em> is joining the no-frills lineup next Tuesday for $10.<br /><br />The news was revealed on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/07/26/playstation-blogcast-035-the-unfinished-assassin/">latest PlayStation podcast</a> among other PSN releases for next week. Like all PS2 classics, <em>GTA3</em> isn't getting an HD update or Trophy support. Also, that <em>Vice City</em> ESRB listing hasn't panned out just yet, but we're sure it's on the way.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/27/grand-theft-auto-3-coming-to-psn-next-tuesday-no-word-on-vice-c/">Grand Theft Auto 3 coming to PSN next Tuesday, no word on Vice City just yet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Jul 2012 13:00:00 EST. As a result, the developer's celebrating with a special edition release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-5"><em>Gran Turismo 5</em></a> - "Academy Edition" - replete with the various car packs released since the launch in 2010.<br /><br />More specifically, you'll also get Polyphony Digital creative lead Kazunori Yamauchi's fancy Nissan GTR that he raced in real life during the most recent Nurburgring 24-hour race. If you bought it in real life, it'd cost <em>like a trillion dollars</em>, so this is probably the best way to get access.<br /><br />When the "Academy Edition" of <em>Gran Turismo 5</em> launches this September 26, it'll cost &euro;29.99/&pound;19.99. The game doesn't have a price or launch date in the US just yet, but we expect to hear more on that front in the coming days.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/25/gran-turismo-5-academy-edition-racing-to-stores-on-september-2/">Gran Turismo 5 'Academy Edition' racing to stores on September 26</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Jul 2012 10:15:00 EST. "The end of summer is September 25th or something like that, right?" he asked. "We're still trying to get it done for summer. It's a big game and we've still got some polish to go."<br /><br />A recent <a href="http://www.torchlight2game.com/news/2012/07/17/travis-with-some-torchlight-ii-updates/">blog post</a> from Baldree on his company's site was meant to allay the concerns of fans who pre-ordered the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/26/pre-orders-for-torchlight-2-go-live-still-no-release-date/">many months ago</a> - fans who have yet to get a solid release date from Runic. "People asked us to make pre-orders available. So, people were just interested in what was going on. There was some concern in the forums that we had gone off and were just twiddling our thumbs," he said. "We have a point in development where we'll say, 'Okay, we're ready to announce a date,' but we're just not there yet."<br /><br />As of today, that gives Runic approximately two months to announce a release date and, uh, actually release its game. Fingers crossed!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/19/torchlight-2-devs-still-planning-summer-launch/">Torchlight 2 devs still planning summer launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Jul 2012 12:30:00 EST. The simple one-button controls seem perfectly matched to touchscreen devices, though maybe our brains aren't perfectly matched to the game, as our frequent and sudden meetings with walls would suggest.<br /><br />The iOS version will be free to download, with ten levels available in the initial version. The full game is available as an in-app purchase for .99, or $1.99 after launch week.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swift-stitch/">Swift Stitch</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swift-stitch/#5131160"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/swiftstitchimg0121_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swift-stitch/#5131161"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/swiftstitchimg0122_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swift-stitch/#5131162"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/swiftstitchimg0123_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swift-stitch/#5131163"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/swiftstitchimg0124_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/swift-stitch/#5131164"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/07/swiftstitchimg0125_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/02/swift-stitch-collects-shinies-on-ios-this-week-via-nicalis/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Swift Stitch collects shinies on iOS this week via Nicalis</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/02/swift-stitch-collects-shinies-on-ios-this-week-via-nicalis/">Swift Stitch collects shinies on iOS this week via Nicalis</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Jul 2012 16:30:00 EST. The collection comprises all three thatgamecompany PSN games - <em>Flow</em>, <em>Flower</em>, and <em>Journey</em> - and also includes a one-month PS Plus membership, "exclusive mini games," creator commentary audio tracks, soundtracks for all three games, and a variety of other bonuses (the full list is below the break).<br /><br />The re-release launches on August 28 for $30 in North America ("info for additional territories to be announced soon"), and the minigames are described as "three exclusive mini-games born out of a thatgamecompany tradition: the 24hr Game Jam." The three games, "Gravediggers," "Nostril Shot," and "Duke War!!," were each created by TGC "start to finish in 24 hours," and their release with this collection marks the first time the trio can be played (except for those who played the games while visiting TGC).<br /><br />There's also reversible cover art on the box - TGC's first physical release - which excites us greatly. Remember that sweet <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/08/ico-and-shadow-of-the-colossus-has-reversible-boxart-last-guard/"><em>Ico</em>/<em>Shadow of the Colossus</em> reversible cover art</a>? That was pretty much the best. None of the tables follow the journey of a newly created superhero with the power to control a giant silver ball with his mind, which seems like a missed opportunity.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mavel-pinball-3d-e3-2012/">Mavel Pinball 3D (E3 2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mavel-pinball-3d-e3-2012/#5069962"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/marvelpinball3dblade1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mavel-pinball-3d-e3-2012/#5069964"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/marvelpinball3dblade2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mavel-pinball-3d-e3-2012/#5069965"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/marvelpinball3dcaptain-america1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mavel-pinball-3d-e3-2012/#5069966"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/marvelpinball3dcaptain-america2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mavel-pinball-3d-e3-2012/#5069967"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/marvelpinball3dfantastic-four1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/25/marvel-pinball-3d-saves-the-eshop-june-28/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Marvel Pinball 3D saves the eShop June 28</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/25/marvel-pinball-3d-saves-the-eshop-june-28/">Marvel Pinball 3D saves the eShop June 28</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Jun 2012 10:30:00 EST. It'll cost $199.99 and come in either red or blue, with a 4GB SD card. The release date is concurrent with<em> New Super Mario Bros. 2</em>.<br /><br />The 3DS XL has a 4.88 inch upper screen, for a 90 percent larger viewing area than the 3.5-inch top screen of the current 3DS model. The bottom screen is also larger, at 4.18 inches.<br /><br />The Japanese and European versions will ship without AC adapters as a money-saving measure (really!), as they are compatible with existing 3DS and DSi XL power adapters. It is currently unannounced whether the North American version will include a power cord, though we can't believe that's a question now.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-hardware-update-us-version-6-21-2012/">3DS Hardware Update US Version (6/21/2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-hardware-update-us-version-6-21-2012/#5110550"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/us3ds3_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-hardware-update-us-version-6-21-2012/#5110551"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/us3ds2_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-hardware-update-us-version-6-21-2012/#5110552"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/us3ds1_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-hardware-update-us-version-6-21-2012/#5110553"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/us3ds_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/22/new-3ds-coming-to-us-august-19-for-199-99/">New 3DS coming to US August 19 for $199.99</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jun 2012 00:07:00 EST. Developer Queasy Games just announced that it'll be released day-and-date with the Vita version.<br /><br />So ... when is that date? August 7, for $14.99. Best of all, if you buy it on one system, you'll get it on both. User-generated content can be shared between versions. You'll be able to see the PS3 version on <a href="http://Sony E3 press conference will not be televised (or maybe it will be)">Sony's livestream</a> at about 5:30PT, and you can see the Vita version (played by composer Jim Guthrie) up here.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/04/sound-shapes-coming-to-ps3-both-versions-out-august-7/">Sound Shapes coming to PS3, both versions out August 7</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Jun 2012 11:29:00 EST. Well, Sony's ... oh, what's that? Oh, right, Vita, not PSP! Let's try this again.<br /><br />Tired of replaying that copy of <em>Lumines</em> over and over? Well, Sony's got a whole mess of video content heading to your PlayStation Vita in the coming weeks, via wildly popular internet video service YouTube. According to SCEA director of handheld consoles product planning and platform software innovation Don Mesa (<em>breath</em>), YouTube will arrive on the Vita in app form by "the end of June."<br /><br />It's unclear if the service's offerings will be any different on Vita compared to on a computer, or if it'll allow uploading directly from the Vita (not to mention using video shot with the Vita itself). Sony also promises tweaks like simpler calibration, more opportunities to customize your avatar, and multiple user profiles.<br /><br />The new "Party Play" mode lets users set playlists of matches, then compete for score. "You can create your own match playlist, see photos and voices from each player during the game, and draw something humiliating (or nice!) on the hapless loser," says producer Jeremy Ray. He probably means in the game. You <em>always</em> had the option of drawing on your friends.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/31/sports-champions-2-takes-a-victory-lap-on-ps-move-this-fall/">Sports Champions 2 takes a victory lap on PS Move this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 May 2012 10:00:00 EST. Insomniac head (and general nice dude) Ted Price took to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/05/30/ratchet-clank-full-frontal-assault-coming-to-psn-this-fall/">US PlayStation Blog</a> this afternoon to announce "Ratchet &amp; Clank: Full Frontal Assault" for PlayStation Network, alongside plans to launch the game "this holiday season."<br /><br />Aside from the artwork you see above and the logo we've dropped in the gallery below, Price offered few details on the game. He said it'll be a "fun-sized" R&amp;C title (like <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank Future: Quest for Booty</em> before it), and that the game will return to "the series' classic feel, camera, controls, and weapons, while innovating and giving you a whole new way to play." What that <em>means</em> is another question altogether. Price also said that the game will feature online co-op, but kept details similarly slim.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ratchet-and-clank-full-frontal-assault/">Ratchet &amp; Clank: Full Frontal Assault</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ratchet-and-clank-full-frontal-assault/#5054184"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/ratchetclankfa01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ratchet-and-clank-full-frontal-assault/#5054185"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/ratchetclankfalogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/30/ratchet-and-clank-full-frontal-assault-is-insomniacs-next-psn-ga/">Ratchet &amp; Clank: Full Frontal Assault is Insomniac's next PSN game, arriving this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 May 2012 12:30:00 EST. Today, Square Enix issued its own announcement, which doesn't require watching a video.<br /><br />The 3DS Disney/Square crossover game will arrive in PAL territories on July 20, ahead of the July 31 release date in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/05/kingdom-hearts-3d-dream-drop-distance-july-31/">North America</a>. You'll all be keyblade masters, having earned the respect and high fives of King Mickey, by the time the game shows up domestically.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/23/kingdom-hearts-3d-closes-the-dream-drop-distance-in-europe-july/">Kingdom Hearts 3D closes the Dream Drop Distance in Europe July 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Apr 2012 13:45:00 EST. During Q3 2012, Microsoft sold 1.4 million 360s, a 48 percent drop year-over-year.<br /><br />When the entirety of fiscal 2012 is taken into account, however, the Entertainment and Devices Division is actually <em>up</em> as far as revenue is concerned: $7.84 billion so far in fiscal 2012 as compared to $7.42 billion by this time in fiscal 2011. The devision's operation income, on the other hand, is down year-over-year, posting at $627 million for the first nine months of fiscal 2012, compared to $1.24 billion for this time last year.<br /><br />Otherwise, Microsoft's Q3 performance was strong across all fronts: Overall quarterly revenue rang up at $17.41 billion, a six percent increase over Q3 2011, with a business-wide operating income of $6.37 billion, a 12 percent year-over-year increase.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/microsoft-q3-results-1-4-million-360s-sold-entertainment-divis/">Microsoft Q3 results: 1.4 million 360s sold, Entertainment division revenue down year-over-year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Apr 2012 19:00:00 EST. Publisher Square Enix announced the game's launch date this morning alongside news of three separate pre-order bonuses tied to three separate retailers: Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon.<br /><br />Should you choose to go the brick-and-mortar route, Best Buy is offering the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/11/mma-fighter-georges-st-pierre-consulting-on-sleeping-dogs/">Georges St. Pierre</a> Pack," which features a trio of GSP-related gear and moves (his "signature flying punch," for instance). GameStop is similarly offering a slew of in-game content, dubbed the "Police Protection Pack. As you might imagine, it comes with a variety of police officer-themed gear. Finally, Amazon has the "Martial Arts Pack," which ... well ... you get it at this point, right? For full listings of all the gear, head past the break.<br /><br />Oh, and if you're a PC gamer wondering what <em>your</em> fancy pre-order bonus is, know that Square Enix hasn't forgotten about you: "Exclusive content for the digitally downloadable PC version of Sleeping Dogs will be announced at a later date," the press release reads.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/sleeping-dogs-awaken-on-august-14-pre-orders-defined/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sleeping Dogs awaken on August 14; pre-order bonuses defined</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/sleeping-dogs-awaken-on-august-14-pre-orders-defined/">Sleeping Dogs awaken on August 14; pre-order bonuses defined</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 10:12:00 EST. There's a small problem with that: Ubisoft hasn't actually cleared the trademark dispute that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/15/ubisoft-delays-rocksmith-until-2012-in-europe-over-trademark-dis/">pushed the game into 2012</a> in the first place. "No agreement/deal has been reached and no meaningful dialogue engaged," Kris Ford, percussionist for the band Rocksmith, told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-03-19-rocksmith-uk-trademark-battle-unresolved-band-responds-to-games-release-date">Eurogamer</a>.<br /><br />Ford said the release date announcement was "interesting but no surprise." Proceedings with the European trademark office are expected to continue through June. Giving a date to the game is "a bit presumptive to say the least, as to the outcome of that process and decision." He admitted that Ubisoft could just launch the game as it did in the US, "which will mean the start of a different kind of legal battle in the UK courts." The final game is due this summer.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bellator-mma-onslaught-xbla-psn/">Bellator MMA Onslaught (XBLA/PSN)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bellator-mma-onslaught-xbla-psn/#4889202"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/screenshot1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bellator-mma-onslaught-xbla-psn/#4889203"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/screenshot2resize_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bellator-mma-onslaught-xbla-psn/#4889204"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/screenshot3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bellator-mma-onslaught-xbla-psn/#4889205"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/screenshot4resize_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/10/bellator-mma-onslaught-brings-arcade-style-grappling-to-xbla-and/">Bellator MMA Onslaught brings arcade-style grappling to XBLA and PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Mar 2012 15:00:00 EST. The expansion includes four maps, 10 weapons and no vehicles -- it's about close quarters, after all.<br /><br />There will be two more expansions for the game following the June expansion. "Armored Kill" will focus on additional weapons, larger maps, and new drivable vehicles. The second pack, called "End Game," features cover art depicting a lunatic holding a knife. That's the extent of what we know about that one so far.<br /><br />The news of this expansion comes at a critical time. Frustrations in the <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/battlefield-3">Battlefield 3</a></em> community has been <a href="http://battlefieldo.com/threads/blackout-battlefield.3881/">bubbling into potential action</a>, and EA has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/23/dice-details-next-big-battlefield-3-fix-list/">maintained radio silence</a> until now.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/07/battlefield-3-close-quarters-announced-for-june-two-more-packs/">Battlefield 3: Close Quarters announced for June, two more packs incoming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Mar 2012 08:01:00 EST. The game, <em>Mercenary Ops</em>, is a ... somewhat derivative third-person shooter built in Unreal Engine 3, which uses cover, blind fire, and active reloading mechanics (from the Gears of War franchise) as main gameplay concepts. Given the "mercenary dudes" setting, the combination of Gears gameplay and bro'd out characters gives it a Gears of War meets Call of Duty feeling, as we discovered during a brief hands-on session today at GDC 2012. So ... yeah, perfectly competent, but not the most original.<br /><br />Perhaps more interesting, the game isn't being published by EGC's American parent company, but instead a brand new North American publisher named Delkans. And what in the world <em>is</em> Delkans? That's a good question -- one that company reps weren't willing to supply an answer for when repeatedly asked during our meeting today. Apparently the publisher is made up of folks from the tech industry, though that's all we could pull out of reps.<br /><br /><em>Mercenary Ops</em> is planned for a summer 2012 launch in North America and Europe, with Asian markets potentially following (Delkans isn't talking solid plans just yet).<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mercenary-ops/">Mercenary Ops</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mercenary-ops/#4875431"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/breaking-glass_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mercenary-ops/#4875432"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/car_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mercenary-ops/#4875434"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/clothes-hanger_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mercenary-ops/#4875435"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/heavybutcherblue_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mercenary-ops/#4875436"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/media-screen-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/06/epic-games-china-bringing-mercenary-ops-exclusively-to-na-eu-com/">Epic Games China bringing Mercenary Ops exclusively to NA/EU computers this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Mar 2012 19:25:00 EST. Despite Namco <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/24/inversion-delayed-early-2012/">telling us back in late January</a> that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/inversion"><em>Inversion</em></a> would arrive in "early 2012" (it was the 24th, so it was <em>actually</em> late in the month), it looks like the game isn't arriving until early June (as in "the fifth and the eighth for North America and Europe, respectively, which isn't even remotely in "early 2012").<br /><br />Namco said the extra time in the oven will give Saber Interactive "the opportunity to create an enjoyable and engaging third-person shooter experience with a comprehensive multiplayer component." We had just assumed that the graphics needed tightening on level three or something, but then that's why we're not game devs, eh?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/05/inversion-flipping-out-in-north-america-on-june-5-june-8-in-eur/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Inversion flipping out in North America on June 5, June 8 in Europe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/05/inversion-flipping-out-in-north-america-on-june-5-june-8-in-eur/">Inversion flipping out in North America on June 5, June 8 in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Mar 2012 17:45:00 EST. In addition to the PS3/Vita-exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/26/pummel-historys-worst-mega-man-in-street-fighter-x-tekken/">Pac-Man, Mega Man</a>, Cole, Toro, and Kuro, Capcom announced twelve extra characters on Vita as part of its Street Fighter 25th Anniversary celebration. The portable fighter will have exclusive access to Street Fighter's Elena, Guy, Cody, Sakura, Dudley and Blanka, and Tekken's Alisa, Christie, Jack, Brian, Lars and Lei.<br /><br />There may yet be time for these new fighters to show up in the console game: Capcom said that the Vita version would be released in the fall. That gives the publisher plenty of time to release the characters as console DLC. In any case, where's our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/16/vita-street-fighter-x-tekken-will-share-dlc-with-ps3-version-ma/">tiny arcade stick</a>?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/21/street-fighter-x-tekken-out-on-vita-this-fall-with-12-more-chara/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Street Fighter X Tekken out on Vita this fall with 12 more characters</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/21/street-fighter-x-tekken-out-on-vita-this-fall-with-12-more-chara/">Street Fighter X Tekken out on Vita this fall with 12 more characters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 13:30:00 EST. Take-Two revealed as much this morning in a PR missive which also detailed the "Premium Edition" of the third-person shooter. It will feature a variety of multiplayer bonus content to folks who pre-order the game from "participating retailers" (none are listed, but we're thinking places like GameStop and Amazon are fair bets).<br /><br />Perhaps "Premium Edition" doesn't sound militaristic enough for you? Thankfully, Take-Two <em>totally</em> thought of that, which is why part the premium edition gives access to the "FUBAR pack," containing various multiplayer customization options ("unique and visually distinct items). Additionally, premium content includes an AK-47 unlock and an Officer Class promotion (which confers "several team-based advantages") at rank one, as well as double XP for the first week of online play.<br /><br />2K Games producer Denby Grace openly calls out the unbalance in this pre-order scheme, saying "People who pre-order the game are going to have an immediate advantage in the multiplayer mode." Oh, not ready yet? Well that's good, actually, as the game won't be available until September 6 in Europe (September 4 for North Americans) according to a new, dubstep-heavy trailer for the game leaked out of Germany via <a href="http://www.allgamesbeta.com/2012/02/far-cry-3-cinematic-trailer-leaked.html">All Games Beta</a>.<br /><br />The game had previously been pegged with an extremely vague "2012" launch window, but the trailer -- which popped up before a planned Ubisoft quarterly financial call later today -- pins September 6 to the game and, unsurprisingly, suggests we get pre-ordering.<br /><br />In other news, we're feeling <em>way</em>, <em>way</em> less sorry for <em>Far Cry 3</em> protagonist Jason Brody after watching this latest trailer. It's never a good idea to go exploring unmapped islands, not to mention ones where you almost immediately find automatic weapons just sitting around. Use your brain, Brody!<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Ubisoft had the leaked trailer removed from YouTube, but we snagged a pic of the release date splash screen before it got removed. Sorry, y'all! We've reached out to Ubi for more info on the trailer and the game's worldwide release dates.<br /><br /><strong>Update 2:</strong> The US version of the trailer is now live, once more confirming the release date of September 4 in North America and September 6 in Europe.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/15/farcry-3-coming-september-6-in-europe-according-to-german-trai/">FarCry 3 coming September 6 (in Europe) according to German trailer [update: now in English!]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 07:45:00 EST.
