<div align="left">Just in time for Papi Day (June 21), it appears that a new PS3 bundle will release June 14, which includes <em>MLB 09 The Show</em> and the <em>Quantum of Solace</em> movie on Blu-ray. Shots of the 80GB system, which will still carry the $399 price, were sent to us by a friendly Walmart insider.<br /><br />We've contacted Sony for official confirmation of the bundle, but it appears not to be a Walmart exclusive from initial checks. We also can't confirm that this bundle is the one previously <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/26/best-buy-to-receive-new-80gb-ps3-sku-after-e3-will-cost-399/">discovered in the Best Buy system</a>, as more detailed photos revealing the UPC don't match up. We'll update if we hear something back from Sony.<br /><br />[Thanks, Ray]</div>

James Bond is traveling to Japan this March when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a> finally releases on the PS3, 360, PS2 and Wii in the region. Activision Blizzard has handed the publishing rights to Square Enix for the game's eastern release, where it will be named <em>007: Nagusame no Houshuu</em>. <em>Quantum of Solace</em>'s March 26th release date means it will be arriving a bit late when compared to the movie itself, despite it only just reaching Japan within the last week. <br /><br />We're not sure how well <em>Quantum of Solace</em> is likely to sell in the far east, but we can presume that Square Enix thinks there's some money to be made from it. Since Activision has <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3171812">shut up shop</a> in the region, handing the publishing rights over to Japanese publishers looks to become a regular occurrence. We weren't expecting Square Enix to be the first to take advantage, but perhaps sticking its name on the box will actually help increase sales.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/02/japan-will-play-quantum-of-solace-courtesy-of-square-enix/">Japan will play Quantum of Solace courtesy of Square Enix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Feb 2009 22:58:00 EST. Are people getting less excited about midnight launches? Or does it just depend on the game, or even the event itself? We'll have a chance to test that theory this week with what looks to be yin and yang launches. Last night we went to the midnight launch of Activision's James Bond game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace/"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a>, and at the other end you've got <em>Gears of War 2</em> launching on Friday. We'll have to see how they compare, because last night's <em>Quantum of Solace</em> launch was a big <span style="font-style: italic;">Dr. No</span>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-launch/">Quantum of Solace Launch</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-launch/#1136674"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/quantum6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-launch/#1136673"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/quantum2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-launch/#1136672"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/quantum21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-launch/#1136671"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/quantum13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-launch/#1136670"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/quantum10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/los-angeles-quantum-of-solace-launch-event-fizzles/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Los Angeles Quantum of Solace launch event fizzles</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/los-angeles-quantum-of-solace-launch-event-fizzles/">Los Angeles Quantum of Solace launch event fizzles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Nov 2008 14:15:00 EST. If you need a game, this week's for you. While we can't vouch for the quality of all the releases (or even, uh, half), but we can say one thing: there's a lot of 'em. And by a lot, we mean <em>dozens</em>. Well, if you add up all the regions, anyway. Look, don't get technical. It's a lot. See for yourself.<br /><br />As an aside, after seeing this week's releases, we should stop crying about not having any more <em>Professor Layton</em> -- the first title is only just now being released in Europe! And what's up with <em>Korg DS-10</em>? It's been turning up on releases for a while. Maybe we'll actually see it this week.<br />

Is there a more <em>boring</em> month than November? It's like there's <em>nothing</em> worth playing this month <em>at all</em>. After the debacle that was last week, this week is completely bereft of anything even remotely resembling fun in even the most infinitesimal way. Seriously, have you <em>seen</em> what's coming out this week? Just take a look.<br />

This is a big week for fans of James Bond. Those who found themselves interested in the super spy's latest exploits will have a chance to nab <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/quantum-of-solace-video-may-cheer-you-up/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Quantum of Solace</span></a> this week. If you enjoy FPS games, or are looking for some people to play online with, we'd suggest Game Night. Of course, <span style="font-style: italic;">Quantum of Solace</span> isn't the <span style="font-style: italic;">only </span>game releasing this week. Head past the break and check out what else is on offer.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/retail-and-download-releases-for-the-week-of-november-3rd/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Retail and download releases for the week of November 3rd</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/retail-and-download-releases-for-the-week-of-november-3rd/">Retail and download releases for the week of November 3rd</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Nov 2008 08:59:00 EST. So, we thought we'd wrangle up the best <em>Gears 2</em> offers from retailers nationwide, including Circuit City's free 1600 Microsoft point offer that we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/1600-ms-points-free-with-gears-of-war-2-purchase-at-circuit-city/">heard about</a> last week. Here's what we found:<br />

And for those who aren't into <em>Gears 2</em> or are just looking for other deals, we discovered that Best Buy is also offering a free t-shirt with purchase of <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9093107&amp;st=quantum+solace&amp;lp=8&amp;type=product&amp;cp=1&amp;id=1218020986626"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a> and free earbuds with <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&amp;id=pcmcat164900050021"><em>HSM3</em></a>. Don't forget that your PS3 is region free. If you see anything on this list that isn't available where you live go ahead and import. Keep in mind that DLC is locked to the game disc's region so if you buy a US game you'll need to get your DLC from the US PSN Store. Release dates are constantly subject to change. That's our way of saying "don't blame us if something gets delayed last minute."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/02/worldwide-ps3-releases-for-the-week-of-november-2nd/">Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of November 2nd</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Nov 2008 14:00:00 EST. <em>Look at the footage!</em><br /><br />As most of you have probably noticed, the Wii is inching toward living up to one of the great potentials of its controller: its usefulness for shooting at things! But what you may not have expected is the fact that a <em>Bond game</em> is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/24/quantum-of-solace-has-zapper-support-online-multiplayer/">looking pretty sweet</a>. That hasn't happened too often since <em>GoldenEye 007</em> set its amazing standard back in 1997.<br /><br />One European Wii owner decided to perform a great service for all the world (or, uh, those who might buy <em>Quantum of Solace</em>), and the result is the above video, featuring (almost) ten minutes of footage from the game, that you may study it closely. Bless YouTube and all its users.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/quantum-of-solace-video-may-cheer-you-up/">Quantum of Solace video may cheer you up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Oct 2008 09:00:00 EST. Big smiles on both sides of the Atlantic this week. America gets three big games in the form of <em>LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm PR</em> and <em>Fallout 3</em>. Europe may not be getting their hands on <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> until next week, but at least they've got <em>Fallout 3, Quantum of Solace</em> and <em>Valkyria Chronicles</em> to tide them over which, from what we've seen, look to all be excellent titles. Here's the full release list:<br /><br /><strong>US Games</strong>

Please keep in mind that release dates are constantly subject to change, so be sure to call ahead before leaving the house. Your PS3 is happy to play any of the above titles, regardless of where they originate from, so feel free to import anything you see up there. Remember, though, that any DLC has to be bought from the appropriate PSN store so if you pick up a US copy of <em>LBP</em> you'll need to download future DLC (and there's bound to be a lot) from the US store. Really, it's better just to wait a week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/26/worldwide-ps3-releases-for-the-week-of-october-26th/">Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of October 26th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 26 Oct 2008 13:30:00 EST. And best of all, because it was a Sony event, all multiplatform games played were the PS3 versions, so it is definitely worth checking out:<br />

As they prep the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war">World for War</a></em>, Treyarch has been quietly plugging away at the upcoming licensed title <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Quantum-of-Solace/">James Bond: Quantum of Solace</a></em>. Powered by the <em>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</em> engine, <em>QoS</em> blends scenes from the first Daniel Craig Bond film -- <em>Casino Royale</em> -- and the anticipated upcoming sequel of the same name. We spent some time with Bond at the recent Sony Holiday event in Toronto, Canada. Since our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/27/joystiq-hands-on-quantum-of-solace/">last trial with the game</a>, did Bond change our definition of skepticism?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/">Quantum of Solace: The Game</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-pool1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---pool-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997050"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997049"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-hotel1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/joystiq-hands-on-revisiting-the-quantum-of-solace/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Revisiting the Quantum of Solace</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/joystiq-hands-on-revisiting-the-quantum-of-solace/">Joystiq hands-on: Revisiting the Quantum of Solace</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Oct 2008 20:00:00 EST. It doesn't make any sense! A movie tie-in isn't supposed to look this good or get us this excited but <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Quantum-of-Solace/">Quantum of Solace</a></em> is achieving in both respects. Developed by Treyarch and riding on the coat-tails of the <em>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</em> engine, the latest James Bond adventure is set to release before the film on November 4. This behind the scenes trailer looks at some of the environments that gamers will experience in the game which takes place in both <em>Casino Royale</em> and <em>Quantum of Solace</em>. Excited? Yeah, us too. It feels ... strange.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/quantum-of-solace-still-looks-suspiciously-good/">Quantum of Solace still looks suspiciously good</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Sep 2008 09:45:00 EST. We were going to try and fit as many Bond-isms into this opening paragraph as we could. Things like "this trophy list is for your eyes only," or "destroy this list after reading." That seems unnecessary, however, considering how chock-full of Bond goodness these Trophy names are. <span style="font-style: italic;">Quantum of Solace</span> really surprised us when we played it. Could the first Bond game with Trophies be the first good title since <span style="font-style: italic;">Goldeneye</span>?<br /><br />

Suave super spy James Bond will live and let buy on November 4th, with the release of his Q-riously named movie tie-in, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a>. Coming from Treyarch -- with love -- to every platform ever, the 007 shooter puts you in the potentially exploding shoes of the new(ish) franchise frontman, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/21/craig-dench-on-board-for-quantum-of-solace-game/">Daniel Craig</a>, and tasks you with saving the world, swirling martinis and bedding duplicitous dames. Indeed, with the game featuring several flashbacks to <em>Casino Royale</em>, it seems someone definitely understood that our demands are for <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1200692/">Eva</a>. <br /><br />Activision has also announced that those who pre-order the game from GameStop will receive a download token, redeemable for a forthcoming multiplayer map pack. In addition to "a variety of classic modes," <em>Quantum of Solace</em> will grant you a view to a team kill in several modes, including "Bond Versus," "Bond Evasion," and "Golden Gun." Note that this bonus applies to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions -- this isn't the spy who loved Wii. <br /><br />Alright, no more idiotic puns and references. We've got to save some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/activision-blizzard-plans-yearly-bond-games/">for next year</a>, you know.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/">Quantum of Solace: The Game</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-pool1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---pool-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997050"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997049"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-hotel1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/22/quantum-of-solace-granted-on-nov-4-pre-order-nets-map-pack/">Quantum of Solace granted on Nov. 4, pre-order nets map pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Sep 2008 18:10:00 EST. <div align="left">Variety continues to dig through yesterday's "analyst day" presentation by Activision-Blizzard brass, but has already uncovered a number of "ah-hah"-worthy tidbits. This one includes the number 7. 007. As in James Bond, who, according to the company, will star in yearly <em>Bond</em> franchise titles from the company - currently working on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a>, built on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> engine - whether there's a new <em>Bond</em> movie release to tie them in with or not.<br /><br />Specific genres, systems, and developers weren't mentioned, but this very aggressive business model would likely target as many game types and platforms as possible to reap maximum rewards from the risks taken. As Variety's Ben Fritz points out, this strategy could turn south rather quickly should <em>Quantum of Solace</em> not live up to gamer - and, more, importantly sales - expectations.</div>

<em style="font-style: italic;">It's so easy to assume that Quantum of Solace</em><span style="font-style: italic;"> is going to be just another rushed license game (even Daniel Craig did!). But after having sat down with a couple of the game's levels (full hands-on coming later), it's easy to see that this is one of Activision's strongest games of the 2008 lineup. We had a chat with the co-design director, Adam Gascoine, about the game and its development.</span><strong><br /><br />Quantum of Solace is the first Bond game to be released alongside its movie counterpart. Has this impacted development? Were you rushed?</strong><br /><br />We were worried about being rushed when we started the project, but thankfully we have a very solid relationship with the movie team. We were one of the first to see the script for the movie, plus we've been able to visit the sets and watch some filming several times now. All this made it a lot easier. We've been developing really since Casino Royale, about two and a half years in total, so we've had plenty of time to develop the game. <br /><strong><br />Parts of the game are reminiscent of <em>Uncharted</em>. Was this a particular inspiration during the development of Quantum of Solace?</strong><br /><br />Any good game is definitely an inspiration. I loved <em>Uncharted</em>. I played it twice. Parts of that game may well have influenced design decisions we made during development, just like any of the great 2007 titles. In particular, though, the quality of animation in <em>Uncharted</em> was definitely an inspiration.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/">Quantum of Solace: The Game</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-pool1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---pool-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997050"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997049"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-hotel1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/joystiq-interview-quantum-of-solaces-adam-gascoine/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq interview: Quantum of Solace's Adam Gascoine</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/joystiq-interview-quantum-of-solaces-adam-gascoine/">Joystiq interview: Quantum of Solace's Adam Gascoine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Aug 2008 14:00:00 EST. <em>This hands-on report is based on the Xbox 360 version of the game, though the developers assure us that the PS3 version will be almost completely identical.</em><br /><br />While I may not be the biggest Bond fan, and only watched <em>Casino Royale</em> because the Blu-ray came free with my PS3, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a> was probably the most interesting game in Activision's Leipzig lineup. Going in with very few expectations and, to be honest, little interest in the title, I was impressed and intrigued with what I saw. It's easy to dismiss <em>QoS</em> as just another licensed movie game that will inevitably suck, but that's certainly not the case here.<br /><br />The first section of the game that I played was set in the sewers of Sienna, where I'm chasing <em>someone</em> (the developers weren't allowed to say who). The first thing you notice about the game is that the environments are gorgeous. For the most part these have been lovingly recreated from reference photos taken on the set of the movie, so they'll look identical to the film. As a result they're incredibly detailed and, in parts, colorful.<br /><br />The controls are both solid and fluid (if that's even possible!), leaving you to worry about what's going on on-screen, and not in your hands. Thanks to various set pieces throughout the level, you feel like you're interacting with the environment, rather than restricted by it. Everything feels a little less static and rigid when you're jumping over railings, falling through rotting wood and clambering over mounds of earth. Even if they are sometimes scripted. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/">Quantum of Solace: The Game</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-pool1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---pool-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997050"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997049"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-hotel1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/27/joystiq-hands-on-quantum-of-solace/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Quantum of Solace</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/27/joystiq-hands-on-quantum-of-solace/">Joystiq hands-on: Quantum of Solace</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Aug 2008 17:50:00 EST. For those of you who've been tracking <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a> over at The Stiq, you know that most of the worthwhile things to discuss about the game have come from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Well, it would appear that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/activision">Activision</a> isn't leaving Wii owners out to dry, as some cool features are being utilized in the Wii version of the title. <br /><br />For one, there will be multiple control schemes. Gamers can use the tried-and-true Wiimote and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nunchuk">Nunchuk</a> setup, or they can bust out their Zapper and play with that. On top of that, Activision has also confirmed the game will feature online multiplayer, as well as 4-player split-screen local multiplayer, which is exclusive to the Wii installment.<br /><br />Activision is also hard at work to make sure the game is no graphical slouch. Seeing as how the engine behind the game is the same used in <em>Call of Duty 4</em>, we're sure <em>Quantum of Solace</em> will have some lovely visuals.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/24/quantum-of-solace-has-zapper-support-online-multiplayer/">Quantum of Solace has Zapper support, online multiplayer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Aug 2008 13:30:00 EST. We're happy to report that when James Bond returns to video games this fall with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Quantum-of-Solace/">Quantum of Solace</a></em> he'll be voiced by our new favorite 007, Daniel Craig. But we're a little worried about how we're going to focus on the game when our undies continue to spontaneously drop to the ground, coaxed off by Bond's baritone brogue! The game will also feature Judi Dench as M and new additions Mathieu Amalric and Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko.<br /><br />... Listen, did we type that part about our undies dropping out loud? No? OK, thank goodness.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/21/craig-dench-on-board-for-quantum-of-solace-game/">Craig, Dench on board for Quantum of Solace game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Aug 2008 09:50:00 EST. Poor James Bond. The guy's been passed around so many times by so many companies that no one seems to know what to do with him any more. Activision was so open to ideas that they actually surveyed fans on what perspective they'd like to see in the next double-o adventure.<br /><br />According to MTV, the community was divided, with 60 percent wanting a first-person view and 40 voting third-person. We know how Activision responded (including both perspectives in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Quantum%20of%20Solace">Quantum of Solace</a></em>), but we're curious how you will: Is your perfect Bond game through the agent's eyes ... or the back of his head?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/">Quantum of Solace: The Game</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-pool1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---pool-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997050"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997049"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-hotel1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/12/bond-fans-have-different-perspectives-on-different-perspectives/">Bond fans have different perspectives on different perspectives</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Aug 2008 11:30:00 EST. <br />Utilizing the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Call-of-Duty-4">Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</a></em> engine, <em>James Bond</em> returns to gaming in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Quantum-of-Solace/">James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace</a></em> from developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Treyarch/">Treyarch</a>. Shown off at Activision's non-E3 press conference, <em>Quantum of Solace</em> takes place within the story of both <em>Casino Royale</em> and the upcoming<em> Bond</em> film of the same name. Starring new Bond, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0185819/">Daniel Craig</a>, the game is presented in a first-person perspective but uses a cover system that snaps to a third-person view -- a la <em>Tom Clancy's Rainbox Six Vegas</em> style. Surprisingly (because it is based on a license) the game looks fantastic and we can't wait to see more. <em>James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace</em> hits shelves this November.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/treyarchs-james-bond-quantum-of-solace-in-motion/">Treyarch's James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace in motion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Jul 2008 10:30:00 EST. Action games in general aren't the best for the touchscreen -- but we want to be proven wrong. Will Daniel Craig's portable outing be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/07/ds-fanboy-review-ninja-gaiden-dragon-sword/">an exception</a> to the laws of crappiness? Unnnnnlikely.<br /><br />Using your keen spy senses, examine the gallery and predict the fate of <em>Quantum of Solace</em>. James Bond returns to movie theaters this fall in <span style="font-style: italic;">Quantum of Solace</span>, and this time he'll be back in video game format as well. Treyarch has been developing a <span style="font-style: italic;">Quantum of Solace</span> game in conjunction with the new flick, enjoying carte blanche from the producers to photograph and use everything from the movie in the game, including blonde Bond Daniel Craig. You can count on his stoic visage making an appearance, not to mention his recognizable voice. Find out what we learned from this first peek at the game, freshly declassified.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/">Quantum of Solace: The Game</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-pool1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---pool-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997050"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997049"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-spa-shootout1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-of-solace-the-game/#997048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/quantum-of-solace---casino-hotel1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/joystiq-eyes-only-on-james-bond-in-quantum-of-solace-the-gam/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq eyes (only) on: James Bond in Quantum of Solace: The Game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/joystiq-eyes-only-on-james-bond-in-quantum-of-solace-the-gam/">Joystiq eyes (only) on: James Bond in Quantum of Solace: The Game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Jul 2008 14:23:00 EST. What can we glean from this screenshot? Well, there's Daniel Craig, and he will probably use a pistol while standing by an indoor body of water at some point. We eagerly await the next screenshot to find out what, exactly, Daniel Craig would shoot at.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/see-the-first-image-from-quantum-of-solace/">See the first image from Quantum of Solace</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=190064">CVG</a>'s sister publication, GamesMaster, got its hand (the other was holding a martini) on the latest <em>Bond</em> game,<em> </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace"><em>James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace</em></a>. Previously confirmed to run on<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/infinity-ward"> Infinity Ward</a>'s slick <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4/"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> engine, it is said to combine scenes and settings from the upcoming (22nd!) <em>Bond</em> flick as well as the previous film in the franchise, <em>Casino Royale</em>. (GamesMaster confirms that one of them is the latter's thrilling "free running" opening sequence.) <br /><br />Gameplay is set to be a mix of first- and third-person action that sounds a lot like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rainbow-six-vegas"><em>Rainbow Six Vegas</em></a>. The camera reportedly pulls out for a view of Bond when he sticks to cover, climbs ladders, climbs along ledges, and in other "cinematic" situations, such as stealthy button-timing based takedowns ... or, dare we suggest, for "interacting" with the Bond girls?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/first-007-quantum-of-solace-intel-declassified/">First 007: Quantum of Solace intel declassified</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Jun 2008 19:55:00 EST. The upcoming 007<em> </em>game just got an ammo clip of good news.* Quantum of Solace, currently in development <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/activision-doubles-up-007-projects/">at Treyarch</a>, is running on the <em>Call of Duty 4</em> game engine and due out this Fall alongside the movie. "We look forward to launching Bond: Quantum of Solace in Q3 concurrent with movie. This game uses the Call of Duty 4 engine and technology to bring Bond games to a new level," said Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith in a <a href="http://phx.corporate-ir.net/playerlink.zhtml?c=60455&amp;s=wm&amp;e=1829011">conference call</a> yesterday (36:20 mark).<br /><br />Why does this excite us? Simply put: <em>COD4</em> is one of the best multiplayer experiences currently available on consoles, and it gives us hope that this version will be able recapture the magic we felt when we first tried split-screen <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/goldeneye">Goldeneye</a></em> on the Nintendo 64. It also gives us an idea as to what platforms we can expect to see the game on -- likely Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and perhaps PC. Quantum of Solace, the film, is releasing October 31 in the UK, November 7 in North America.<br /><br />* Note: Fear not, the writer of this joke has indeed been eliminated.<br /><em></em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/new-bond-game-quantum-of-solace-runs-on-cod4-engine-launching-w/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Bond game Quantum of Solace runs on COD4 engine, launching with movie</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/new-bond-game-quantum-of-solace-runs-on-cod4-engine-launching-w/">New Bond game Quantum of Solace runs on COD4 engine, launching with movie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 May 2008 15:30:00 EST. "We'll launch on all four platforms we've participated on in fiscal [year] 2008," Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith said, refering to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cod4">Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's</a></em> debut on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Nintendo DS; a PS2 and Wii version are also in the works.<br /><br />Griffith also revealed that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cod5">Call of Duty 5</a></em> will see the franchise move into a new "military theater." Long-standing suspicion has been that <em>Call of Duty 3</em> developer Treyarch would return the franchise to its World War II roots but Griffith's comments seem to debunk that setting rumor. Griffith did not mention whether <em>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</em> developer Infinity Ward or rumored Treyarch would take the reins as the <em>Call of Duty 5</em> developer.<br /><br />On the subject of <em>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</em>, Griffith revealed the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/James-bond">James Bond</a></em> licensed title that is currently in development by Treyarch will be powered by the <em>CoD4 </em>engine and release around the time of the latest <em>Bond</em> film, <em>Quantum of Solace</em>, this fall.<br /><br />The only question to answer now is which war could <em>Call of Duty 5</em> be based on. The answer? Civil. Muskets = Win.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/new-setting-for-call-of-duty-5-bond-powered-by-call-of-duty-4/">New setting for Call of Duty 5, Bond game powered by Call of Duty 4 engine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 May 2008 10:30:00 EST. Activision's recent conference call didn't consist entirely of gloating about those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/activision-q4-sales-up-80-to-1-48-billion/">record holiday-quarter sales</a>, as the publisher also took the opportunity to outline some of its plans for 2008. It seems we're in for quite the party, albeit one where you'll actually remember <em>everybody</em>'s name. Guitar Hero? James Bond? Tony Hawk? Spider-Man? Yeah, we've met.<br /><br />According to a <a href="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117980462.html?categoryid=20&amp;cs=1"><em>Variety</em> report</a>, the aforementioned party will see multiple performances by The Instrument Protagonists, due to promote two <em>Guitar Hero</em> "add-ons" in Spring and a full sequel in Fall. While party animals debate the game tie-ins to animated films <em>Kung Fu Panda</em> and <em>Madagascar 2</em>, suave gentleman will attempt to decrypt <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/James-Bond/">James Bond</a>'s film adaptation, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/possible-title-of-james-bonds-next-game-announced/"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a>. A roughly equal amount of solace will be found by the comic fans huddled around the punch bowl, as new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SpiderMan/">Spider-Man</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Marvel%20Ultimate%20Alliance">Marvel Ultimate Alliance</a></em> games are expected to knock on the door at some point during the festivities.<br /><br />Finally, don't expect <em>Tony Hawk</em> to be turned away (he's on the guest list), especially since he's bringing his friend ... uh ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/callofduty4"><em>Call of Duty</em></a>? We honestly don't know where we're going with this analogy. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://weblogs.variety.com/the_cut_scene/2008/02/activisions-200.html">The Cut Scene</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/activisions-2008-promises-more-guitar-hero-james-bond-spider/">Activision's 2008 promises more Guitar Hero, James Bond, Spider-Man</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Feb 2008 06:30:00 EST. So, we (like many of the film fans out there) heard yesterday that James Bond's 22nd adventure would not, as we had secretly hoped, be called <em>James Bond 22</em>. No, producers decided to go once more to Ian Fleming's back catalog and dredge up the name <em>Quantum of Solace</em>, lifted from a short story featuring the world's most prolific spy. We didn't think much more about it.<br /><br />But then today, we started wondering: Could <em>Quantum of Solace </em>also be the name of Bond's next video game adventure too? It makes a lot of sense, though we're not laying any money on it. What we are willing to say is that it would be the best title for a Bond game <em>ever</em>, except for <em>Goldeneye</em>, <em>Everything Or Nothing</em>, <em>The World Is Not Enough</em>, <em>Nightfire</em>, <em>Agent Under Fire</em>, <em>Tomorrow Never Dies</em> and <em>From Russia With Love.</em> Oh ... and what ever that racing game was called. Except for those, it's <em>the best</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/possible-title-of-james-bonds-next-game-announced/">Possible title of James Bond's next game announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 10:20:00 EST.
