The Ragnarok Odyssey series is a multiplayer Monster Hunter-style RPG based on the universe of the Ragnarok Online MMO.

According to Gematsu's translation, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace packs all the DLC quests from the original version, and adds a new playable epilogue, a random dungeon, and a new "ACE Skill" system that gives characters extra abilities. Ragnarok Odyssey Ace comes out in Japan this July; a date for the international release has not been announced.
Updated 'Ace' version of Ragnarok Odyssey coming west originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 08 Apr 2013 22:00:00 EST. The Mercenary Edition, which includes a pack of 10 random Monster Cards, the soundtrack and a 96-page Mercenary Guide, slides in at $50.

Ragnarok Odyssey came out in Japan in February and has sold more than 100,000 units online and at retail there. This follows the game's Japanese release last February, though how closely it'll follow remains to be seen.

Set in the same world as Ragnarok Online, Odyssey is a Monster Hunter-esque runabout wherein the player's (fully customizable) character traverses the world, hunting "monsters and giants" as they do so. Players can choose from six different job classes, switching between missions when necessary, and play cooperatively either online or via local ad-hoc network, the later of which supports up to four players at a time.
Continue reading Ragnarok Odyssey journeying to North American Vitas sometime this year

Ragnarok Odyssey journeying to North American Vitas sometime this year originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 05 May 2012 22:00:00 EST.

In this age of A/V overload, it's rare that you get the opportunity to really flex those imagination muscles, but today presents just such a chance. Famitsu got its hands on nine Vita games, but since details are scarce on some and we don't know if others will actually come to America, it's the perfect opportunity to revitalize that atrophied fantasizing gland.

A big chunk of the nine were previously announced Ubisoft games (including "Luminous Electronic Symphony," which we assume is the Vita Lumines game). But the magazine also featured some new titles like Game Arts' Ragnarok Odyssey, a "hunting action" game that borrows elements from MMORPG Ragnarok Online and, presumably, the Monster Hunter series. Also, D3's bringing Dream Club Zero to the portable, but since it's a port of a 360 dating sim/visual novel that will never, ever come to the U.S. you probably don't want to waste too much imagination on that one.

Perhaps the most intriguing on the list is Acquire's Sumioni, a 2D action game with an inky art style (as you can see in the screen Siliconera ran). Apparently, you'll use both touch pads and an analogue stick to brush away enemies with your ... magical, brushy, ink powers. (C'mon, imagination!)

Rounding out the list is Moe Moe Daisensou Gendaiban++, the latest in a strategy series that mysteriously hasn't caught on in the US.
Famitsu reveals new Vita games originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 07 Sep 2011 17:45:00 EST.
