If you've kept up with the five seasons (and multiple spin-off miniseries) of Rooster Teeth's (mostly) comedic Halo-based series "Red vs. Blue", then their recent announcement (with accompanying teaser trailer) of a brand new chapter in their seminal machinima franchise should definitely tickle your fancy. However, it seems that the Teeth have left their lollerskates at home for this one -- though the cast list tacked to the end of the above video shows that many of the series' voice actors are making a return, the trailer lacks the Spanish-speaking robots, megalomaniacal medics, and pregnant men that we've become accustomed to seeing in the "RvB" universe. Still, with production values like this, we couldn't be more on board.

Need a crash course for Halo 3's new "Heroic" map pack? The Rooster Teeth crew have reprised their Spartan roles for a special Red vs. Blue episode showing off the three new maps due out tomorrow. Those who persevered through last night's Spike TV VGAs already got to see the video, but for those who had better things to do (like what? No, really, we want to know) or want to watch it again, we've embedded the video above.

The "Heroic Map Pack," featuring new maps Foundry, Standoff and Rat's Nest, are due out tomorrow for 800 MS points ($10) or free if you wait until sometime early next year.

The first episode of Rooster Teeth's RvB "Recovery One" mini-series is now available exclusively on the XBLM, but we're sorry to report that it'll cost you. This first mini-series episode is available to all Xbox Live regions and (unexpectedly) costs 80 Microsoft points to download. For some reason we expected "Recovery One" to be free, but we guess Rooster Teeth's last hoorah into Halo 2 machinima comes with a price. Oh well, what are a bunch of fanboys to do? You'll just have to decide whether or not purchasing the new episodes is worth the cost and worth experiencing team Rooster Teeth's final Halo 2 project. Though, we've heard that the mini-series' lead character Agent Washington is one insightful guy. We're not sure what we meant by that, just be sure to spend wisely.

And so the five part Red vs Blue Halo 3 mini-series comes to an end with the release of episode five entitled "Moving Day". This final episode (embedded above) chronicles Reds' packing, moving, complaining and overall attempts to get their security deposit back from their Coagulation home. And let it be known that if ever one mistakes a home's mold infested floor for furry 70's carpeting then that residence should be evacuated and sterilized ASAP. Eesh.

Anyhoo, this sadly ends the five part mini-series which only means that we're closer to Halo 3's release. And be sure to re-live every exciting moment of the Halo 3 themed Red vs Blue episodes over at GameStop. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wish you didn't have to say goodbye.

We're nearing the end folks as the 4th episode of the special Halo 3 series of Red Vs. Blue is now online. This episode focuses on the new maps that will be available in Halo 3, though unfortunately it mentions nothing we don't already know. Then again, we're in it for the yuks anyway. While the video is primarily an advertisement, it actually raises an interesting question. You see, none of the bases in the Halo games have a bathroom. Where does the Master Chief, you know, go? Does he just go in the suit? The possibilities make the mind reel.

The third episode in the special Halo 3 series of Red Vs. Blue is now online. Actually, it was online earlier, but we've just now found it on YouTube. As we've said before, we wouldn't want our readers toddling off to find it on the proper website. No, we want you all to stay right here where you belong. This episode focuses on the new equipment items found in Halo 3. Of course, there are no equipment items in Halo 2, so Sarge and the gang have to improvise. Click play now. Otherwise you'll never learn why Simmons always takes the stairs.

Update: It's Simmons who takes the stairs. For confusing Simmons with Grif, Sarge made us test out the "Jumping Off a Cliff" equipment. It works like you think it would.

Everyone was quite happy and relieved to know that Red vs Blue was coming back for a five new episode series focusing on marketing the crap out of Halo 3, but we ended up a little confused. Confused because Microsoft said that the episodes would only be available at select retailers, which got us a thinking we'd have to pay for the new vids. But, alas, we found out what only available at retail really means. With the release of the first episode we found out that websites like Gamestop will be showcasing the new episodes weekly on their sites and for free. Which is all fine and dandy, but why would we want you to leave the comforts of X3F to go watch a brand new RvB episode over at someone else's website? So, we embedded the video above. Enjoy the RvB Halo 3 banter, comic mischief and super powerful Needler in the first of five new RvB episodes.

The original series may be said and done, but that hasn't stopped the folks at Rooster Teeth from churning out a five episode primer on the world of Halo 3. In this series, Sarge prepares Donut and the rest of the red degenerates for the technological leap into the future. It's sure to be violent, hilarious and educational -- much like their beta orientation.

For the moment, class begins for free at GameStop with the first episode, "Upward Mobility." The series will be tolled out over the next five weeks across many other fine retail sites as well, including Best Buy and Amazon.

Rooster Teeth fans rejoice, for Red Vs. Blue shall live again! Microsoft has announced that a series of 5 special episodes of Red Vs. Blue will be released in anticipation of a relatively unpublicized game called Halo 3. As many still lament the end of The Blood Gulch Chronicles, these new episodes should be a cause for (tactful) celebration. The promotional episodes will feature Sarge preparing the rest of the soldiers for the transition from Halo 2 to Halo 3. We're not sure what exactly that will entail, but we can only assume antics will be involved. And shenanigans too.

One interesting (and possibly disturbing) note: the episodes will be appearing at several retailers including GameStop, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Circuit City, and Best Buy. Considering there is no mention of the episodes appearing on Marketplace, this leads us to believe they may not be free. Here's hoping our hunch is wrong.

Well folks, today is the day: the end of The Blood Gulch Chronicles. Rooster Teeth promises that there will be a few one-off Red Vs. Blue episodes, but for now, the series as we know it is no more. Episode 100 is available now in all its 15 minute glory. The episode hasn't been released in embeddable format, so you might as well head over to Rooster Teeth, watch the episode, and join the already lengthy discussion. Yes, it is the end of an era. This is it folks, the end is nigh for Red Vs. Blue, the series that brought machinima into the limelight. Later today, Rooster Teeth will be releasing the 100th and final episode of the long running series (it began in April of 2003). The final episode will be a 15 minute affair, the longest episode Rooster Teeth has ever made. Rooster Teeth notes that there will be occasional episodes of the series in the future (some of them no doubt commissioned by Microsoft), but the story itself will end today. Chris Kohler of Wired has written an article briefly chronicling the genesis and success of the series, giving us a "big picture" view of the series in anticipation of today's final episode. If, like us, your viewing of the series has been lax of late, you can check out the latest season at the RvB archive.

Of all the things we've lost, we think we'll miss Caboose the most.

Tomorrow night marks not only the hundredth episode of the hysterical web series, Red vs Blue, but also the end of the road for the show that taught the world what machinima is, even if its creators had no idea what that was to begin with.

As a primer for the conclusion, Wired's Chris Kohler lays out a brief history of the folks behind the series, Rooster Teeth, as well as where they'll be going from here. While they'll continue to make the occasional Red vs Blue special, this will be the end of a four year journey for the fine men, women, aliens and talking bombs that make up the Blood Gulch population.

The series finale will be made available for all tomorrow evening with no specific time in place. For those who need to play catch up, the current season is available for free.

Episode 24 - Sweet Ride of Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles, is available glorious HD on Xbox Live Marketplace. It weighs in at 158 MB and costs you the standard 80 Microsoft Points. Just out of curiosity, how many of you are downloading the series off of Marketplace? We usually just pick up the DVD ourselves, but then again, this is available in HD, whereas we'd need to play our Season 2 DVD in an HD DVD drive through VGA to upscale to HD resolutions. So, we ask again, do you get your RvB fix off of Marketplace?

The first episode of the Shadowrun machinima by Rooster Teeth Productions that we showed you yesterday, 1-800-Magic, is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. As you may have saw, the production values are rather high, but that's to be expected from the RvB crew. The video weighs in at 227.59 MB, which shouldn't take too long, and getting a higher resolution version to appreciate the finer details of their work is never a bad thing. If the series was regularly added to Marketplace, and continue to be free, would you follow it on XBLM?

Major Nelson gave word that a second set of Red vs Blue gamer pictures have hit Xbox Live Marketplace. This time, the theme is based on all the bad guys of the series, hence the name of "By the Numbers: Evil Picture Pack". For a cool 80 Microsoft Points, you get 8 pictures of "all your favorite Evil characters". So that's like, O'Malley, Wyoming and er ... six other pictures. You'll have to excuse us, we just buy the DVDs at PAX rather than watch it piecemeal. Either way, the other six favorites are featured, to be sure. Sadly no Mike Myers, though.

Red Vs. Blue may be drawing to a close, but these guys sure are keeping busy. A new pack of RvB gamer pics is now available for download on Xbox Live Marketplace. Dubbed the "Wacky 1 Picture Pack" the pictures have a certain ... well, wackiness to them. Our favorite though, has to be "Is it a spider?" The line is a classic. So classic in fact, that it was worked into the achievements for Gears of War. Should you desire these images of utter silliness, they will set you back 80 Microsoft points (a mere $1 in US currency).

Popular Halo machinima series Red vs. Blue is coming to Xbox Live. The first five episodes of the concluding series are already online and selling at 80 MS points (US $1.00) each. The videos range from 77 to 138 MB in size.

As 1UP points out, it's not hard to find much of the series online for free viewing (including the official RvB website, which features some episodes on a rotating basis). You can also purchase a nineteen-episode DVD for each season, with bonus features, from the Rooster Teeth store for $20.

Still, one dollar might be that golden price point where, like Apple found with iTunes store, consumers don't mind paying for the convenience of downloading content. We'll probably have an indication of how well the price is working with what we presume is the inevitable release of episodes six to 10.

After posting about the new Red vs Blue content on the Marketplace, we checked out Rooster Teeth's website and stumbled upon their latest comic. We must preface the ensuing discussion by saying that we do not support cutting off your arms or legs for the sake of gaming. But, if you so choose, we will not hold it against you. Okay, carrying on. After giving the comic a look over we surprisingly enough came away with new found knowledge. We learned that going all Grindhouse on your extremities just for the sake of having controllers for hands may seem genius at first, but in reality it's a horrible idea. That is unless you want to be a human gamepad and have people line up to play with your hands. Then you'd be golden! She's an entertaining comic, so just go take a look at her already.

Rooster Teeth's little Halo machinima that could Red vs Blue is making its season one debut on the XBLM. Up for download are episodes one through five of Red vs Blue with each episode setting you back a very reasonable 80 Microsoft points. It seems like only yesterday when we downloaded our very first episode off the internet, listening to Caboose's childish banter, tolerating Sarge's brash remarks, and that oh so pink Donut acting so ... Donut-like. Ahh the memories we have had with you Red vs Blue and at only $1 US per episode, how can we not re-ignite the flame we once shared?

At first glance it may look like an April Fool's joke (hey, so did the closing of The GIA), but it seems as though the war of Blood Gulch really will be coming to an end. Burnie Burns of Rooster Teeth announced on their forum two nights ago that their infamous Red vs. Blue series of Halo machinima will be concluding with its landmark one-hundredth episode. The series that for the past four years has made it worth living through the weekend, brought the concept of machinima to the masses, as well as gave a wildly different perspective of the Halo universe.

With six episodes left to go, the folks behind the Blood Gulch Chronicles are busy wrapping up all the loose ends for the finale but took the time to thank their shisno fans. Beyond RvB, Rooster Teeth has been involved with numerous commercial projects in the past few years, including a television ad for last year's Madden. For introducing us to "The Puma," human-to-robot surgery, and girlie laps, we salute you.

After four years of Halo-driven machinema fun, Red Vs. Blue is calling it quits. Burnie, of RvB's production company, Rooster Teeth, spilled the news in a recent forum post. Red Vs. Blue was originally launched on April 1st of 2002, and the series is fast approaching its 100th episode, which seemed like the perfect place to "call it a show."

Before all the RvB fans cry in agony, know that Rooster Teeth has announced only the end of The Blood Gulch Chronicles, and this doesn't signal the death of the series as a whole. Burnie assures us that questions about the series' future as well as other plans will be discussed in the in the "weeks and months to come". In the meantime, seven episodes remain in The Blood Gulch Chronicles, one of which was released yesterday, and plenty of loose ends need tying. If you haven't been keeping tabs on the series, now may be the perfect time to catch up.

A special Red Vs. Blue holiday video has landed on Xbox Live Marketplace. We were so busy rocking Assault Heroes earlier that we failed to notice. There is a Red Vs. Blue theme available as well, which will run you 150 points. We love us some Red Vs. Blue, so you can bet we're downloading the video right now. Unfortunately, Microsoft decided to pull a Scrooge, as the video is available only to Gold members. Silver Live members will have to wait until December 20th. At least you'll get it in time for Christmas, right?

Has anyone gotten the video (or theme) yet? Is it super funny?

The second part of the "Out of Mind" miniseries from Red vs. Blue is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Response to the first episode was somewhat mixed. Will this one fare better? Give it a watch and tell us what you think.

There's a new piece of Red Vs. Blue content available on Marketplace. The video is entitled "Out of Mind Part One" and is available for free. Does this mean the beginning of regular RvB content? I hope so, but I still hate Grif oh so very, very much.

Has anyone already downloaded it?
