Head honcho Mike Griffith went on to say that "Movies, recorded music and TV - these are all stagnating or contracting entertainment sectors." <br /><br /> I'm not sure how much I agree with that statement. Strictly in terms of cash flow, it's already happening. Gaming is a fairly pricey hobby, and it's been outpacing the other forms of media for several years (in terms of growth). Yet I have a difficult time imagining a time where video games are everyone's preferred form of escapism. Although their respective industries may see drastic changes with direct, indirect, or unrelated connections to gaming, music and film will always have a place. As much as I love gaming, it's not rare that I find myself preferring to zone out with TV or just listen to music and read instead of playing a video game. <br /><br /> What I do see is a further merging of the three into ubiquitous, all-purpose media devices. Microsoft and Sony currently do this, and it's only a matter of time before Nintendo catches up. While most households currently don't rely on gaming consoles as their sole provider of film / TV and music, I imagine that this will change. Perhaps the mediums will start to bleed into one another. With <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> blurring the lines between game and film and <em>Audiosurf</em> doing the same for games and music, perhaps media will merge and propagate a completely new and unique form of entertainment. Interesting stuff. <br /><br /> What was this Top 5 about, again? Oh, right: cut scenes. A lot of them stink. Here's the 5 worst ones. <br /><br /> </div>

Umbrella stockholder Albert Wesker will have more than classy shades and sadistic banter to his credit when he returns in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/re5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a>, complete with moves from a <em>General Hospital</em> heartthrob. IGN reports that the former S.T.A.R.S. captain will be played by stunt man and former daytime TV actor <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1533805/">Ken Lally</a>, who will lend an extra motion-captured step to Wesker's swagger.<br /><br />The actor, whose on-camera resume also includes playing "The German" in two episodes of <em>Heroes </em>as well as an unnamed security officer on <em>Enterprise</em>, got his combat chops early on as the son of an N.S.A. operative, leaving us hoping that this role will be a case of art imitating life. Well, without that whole virus thing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/13/actor-ken-lally-mo-capped-as-resident-evil-5s-wesker/">Actor Ken Lally mo-capped as Resident Evil 5's Wesker</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Nov 2008 19:30:00 EST. <br />Chris Redfield can look forward to aerating the not-quite-undead with a conveniently placed shotgun in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5">Resident Evil 5</a></em>. However, he won't have to worry about uncovering the African village's lone typewriter in order to record his progress in the event an errant bite finds its mark.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3170330">1UP</a> reports that the upcoming horror-cum-action game will forego the series' previous means of saving games using typewriters, and will instead feature "a combination of checkpoints and chapters." This according to <em>RE5</em> producer Jun Takeuchi, who admits that he 'really likes' typewriters, though we imagine he has no love lost for tradition. We'll fight back the tears as we pour over these latest screens. Beware citizens, for it would appear that the T-Virus has mutated, and has now taken to resurrecting not only the recently deceased, but also mobile platforms thought long since dead. Or at the very least <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/n-gage">irrelevant</a>. Gamasutra reports that Capcom is bringing a game based on its upcoming CGI flick, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-degeneration/"><em>Resident Evil: Degeneration</em></a>, to Nokia's N-Gage service, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/04/n-gage-application-finally-launches/">(re)launched earlier this year</a> and is available on multiple Nokia smartphones.<br /><br />According to the report, the movie tie-in will feature two separate modes of play and 3D graphics designed to both show off the platform's capabilities and illustrate Capcom's "dedication to N-Gage," a fascination we imagine will blur the line between devotion and necrophilia when the title launches later this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/19/resident-evil-degeneration-game-infecting-n-gage/">Resident Evil: Degeneration game infecting N-Gage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Sep 2008 23:35:00 EST. <a href="http://gamesblog.ugo.com/index.php/gamesblog/more/resident_evil_5_interview/">UGO</a> has landed an interview with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5">Resident Evil 5</a></em> producer Jun Takeuchi to discuss the upcoming survival horror sequel. Takeuchi begins by defending the <em>RE5</em> team's decision to use Africa as a backdrop, insisting it is not a race issue. In fact, Chris will not even leave Africa for the entirety of the game. Gameplay-wise, he tells us in the current version of the game, it will allow you to "switch weapons in real time but we can't 100% confirm that that's how the final game will end up." Another gameplay element highlighted is destructible environments -- seemingly safe hiding places can be eliminated by getting knocked down<em>.</em> <br /><br />Takeuchi also speaks of utilizing next-gen console technology to create "bright, outdoor environments" with an "action-based, a different kind of horror." Quick-time events will also remain in the game, but will "be much more active." Takeuchi then teases everyone by glancing at a PR representative when asked about a co-op mode and responding with "Right now I don't have anything to say about that. All I can say is just wait for E3." He is right, we can't wait for E3 to find out more!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/resident-evil-5-producer-teases-co-op-mode/">Resident Evil 5 producer teases co-op mode</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Jul 2008 18:00:00 EST. Okay, it's confession time. This article series, as much as we hope you've enjoyed it, was originally set out to only discuss those titles of the survival horror persuasion that have been cemented into the 2008 release calendar. However, there is an ordnance that says something to the effect that you can't talk about survival horror games without devoting some face time to Capcom's seminal <em>Resident Evil</em> franchise. Or at least there <em>should be</em>. And while a date for when we can expect to continue slaughtering zombies -- or some derivative thereof -- hasn't been announced, we fully expected <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/re5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a> to ship sometime in 2009. <br /><br />That said, we nonetheless felt the game would make an appropriate end cap on our week long look at the genre Capcom helped not only create, but <em>perfect</em>, so we ended our week by speaking with producer Jun Takeuchi, and asked him <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/scared-stiff">why we should care</a> about <em>Resident Evil 5</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-06-02-2008/">Resident Evil 5 (06-02-2008)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-06-02-2008/#837712"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/captiresi512_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-06-02-2008/#837711"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/captiresi511_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-06-02-2008/#837710"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/captiresi510_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-06-02-2008/#837709"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/captiresi509_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-06-02-2008/#837708"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/captiresi508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/28/scared-stiff-why-should-we-care-about-resident-evil-5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Scared Stiff: Why should we care about Resident Evil 5?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/28/scared-stiff-why-should-we-care-about-resident-evil-5/">Scared Stiff: Why should we care about Resident Evil 5?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 28 Jun 2008 08:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/residentevil5">Resident Evil 5</a></em> has been off our radars for a while, but some <a href="http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/18134">brief gameplay footage</a> has floated our way, courtesy of a Capcom 25th Anniversary DVD packaged with the latest issue of Famitsu. The gameplay is shown amidst shots of character models, and an interview with producer Jun Takeuchi.<br /><br />What can we glean from this footage? The protagonist Chris Redfield is still seen in the same setting as the last (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/african-womens-blog-upset-over-resident-evil-5/">somewhat controversial</a>) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/26/resident-evil-5-trailer-gets-extended/">trailer</a>, walking amongst irritable villagers who are still hard to distinguish from the series' trademark zombies. Redfield also has ridiculously huge muscles, making us wonder if we'll get to do a bit more wrassling this time around (probably not, though).<br /><br />Check out the brief, off-screen footage after the break.<br /><br />[Thanks, Mark]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5/">Resident Evil 5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5/#1373588"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/spencer-1024_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5/#1373587"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/em45_ndesu-1024_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5/#1373586"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/em44_popokarim-1024_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5/#1373585"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/em30_adjule_01-1024_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5/#1373568"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/em0d_maijini_cephalo_1024_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><strong><br /></strong><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/check-out-some-brief-resident-evil-5-footage/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Check out some brief Resident Evil 5 footage</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/check-out-some-brief-resident-evil-5-footage/">Check out some brief Resident Evil 5 footage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Mar 2008 07:00:00 EST. With the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/30/resident-wii-vil-4-ships-a-million-units/">successful wii-vival of <em>Resident Evil 4</em></a>, not to mention plans to introduce waggle to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/27/resident-evil-zero-port-waggling-onto-wii/"><em>Resident Evil Zero</em> in Japan</a>, there's little question that Capcom enjoys returning to - and drinking from - the Wii's zombie-infested well. And for good reason, as the company announced that its latest trip down memory lane for the Wii, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/umbrellachronicles/"><em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em></a>, has shipped over a million units the world over since the game's debut last November.<br /><br />Impressive, for sure, though what's even more staggering is that the series as a whole has sold more than 34.5 million units globally as of February 29. However, the company is not all about survival horror, having recently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/capcom-usa-hiring-with-15-projects-in-development/">confirmed plans</a> for some 15 new projects in the works -- though Capcom will likely always have a special place in its heart (and wallet) for the decaying flesh of the undead.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/umbrella-chronicles-ships-a-million-units-worldwide/">Umbrella Chronicles ships a million units worldwide</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Mar 2008 10:55:00 EST. All of you that found your fancy tickled at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/27/resident-evil-zeroing-in-on-wii/">the news concerning <em>Resident Evil Zero</em></a>, stop being excited right now. We're serious. Wipe that smile off your face right this minute! So help us, we will turn this blog around <em>right now</em>.<br /><br />If you live in Japan, though, it's perfectly fine to still be excited about buying a new version of a game you probably already own. The <em>Resident Evil Zero</em> Wii port is going to hit your home turf and your home turf alone. Looks like the U.S. and Europe won't be getting their hands on this game (unless they <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/28/where-is-the-wii-freeloader-oh-its-finally-here/">want to import</a> it), as Capcom pointed out to Eurogamer today that the company has no plans on publishing the title outside of Japan.<br /><br />Oh well, at least we'll be saved from the hastily-slapped-together "extra features" like <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUVd3G-MCSw">behind the scenes</a> stuff and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXjhpYbLNYw">other junk</a> that will surely make its way into this Wii port. But, then again, it <em>is</em> more <em>Resident Evil</em> to buy. We never really can resist <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/30/capcom-ensures-a-port-filled-future-with-re4/">plunking money down</a> on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/umbrella-chronicles-lurches-toward-a-million-sales/"><em>Resident Evil </em>games</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/28/capcom-no-plans-for-re-zero-wii-port-outside-of-japan/">Capcom: no plans for RE Zero Wii port outside of Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Feb 2008 18:00:00 EST. If you're <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/umbrella-chronicles-lurches-toward-a-million-sales/">one of the few</a> who decided this game wasn't worth owning at the $50 price range, you might want to give it a second look. Amazon's Deal of the Day has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/its-wesker-day/"><em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em></a> on sale for the low price of $30. As if the prospect of shooting horde after horde of the undead wasn't enough to sell you ...<br /><br />But, in case it wasn't enough to sell you on the game, this <em>should</em> sell you on it. The game will also ship for free from Amazon, so no need to plunk down any extra dough there. If you don't know why we're so excited for an on-rail shooter, you haven't <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/wii-fanboy-review-resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles/">read our review</a> of the game.<br /><br />Note: If you're interested in this sale, don't hesitate. It was already pulled once while we've been watching it. The game is no doubt a hot item right now. <br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/11/resident-evil-under-priced/">Resident Evil: Under Priced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Feb 2008 11:15:00 EST. Capcom's on-rail shooter, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/wii-fanboy-review-resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles/"><em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em></a>, is getting close to becoming a million-seller. It's been revealed that the title has sold 950,000 copies, with the million mark well within its reach. Actually, it could have already broken a million sales, as this data is current as of the end of December.<br /><br />The game did a lot better than Capcom initially thought, especially in the U.S. and Europe where it sold the strongest, as the company reveals the title did 50% better than their in-house estimations. Personally, we don't know why they would think a game about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/big-heads-make-easy-targets-in-house-of-the-dead-2-and-3-return/">shooting the crap out of the living dead</a> and genetically-altered beasties alike wouldn't sell a million. Plus, with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/resident-evil-degeneration-looks-like-a-good-resident-evil-movi/"><em>Resident Evil</em></a> name attached to it, how could it not sell incredibly well?<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/umbrella-chronicles-lurches-toward-a-million-sales/">Umbrella Chronicles lurches toward a million sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 12:45:00 EST. Capcom's official blog is reporting that the online components of PS2 games <em>Resident Evil: Outbreak</em> and <em>Monster Hunter</em> <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/613">will be ceasing</a> after over three years of service.<br /><br />As Capcom's blog explains, the online servers for both games were provided by an external company which is now exiting the PS2 online business, leaving <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a> in the lurch. The online services will not be picked up by Capcom or any other external company, and will cease entirely on December 31, 2007.<br /><br />It's disappointing that both of these games are having their online components axed so prematurely, but we feel that Capcom has handled the controversial matter with a lot of class. For those in possession of these titles, we recommend getting your fill of online zombie-killing and monster-hunting before the end of the year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/03/resident-evil-outbreak-and-monster-hunter-online-services-cease/">Resident Evil: Outbreak and Monster Hunter online services cease for PS2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Dec 2007 10:30:00 EST. It's not the bundle you see above, but it <em>is</em> a bundle, per se. See, we're trying to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/29/fanswag-win-a-zapper-and-umbrella-chronicles/">unload this</a> Wii Zapper and copy of <em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em> we have laying around. We figured we'd share the love and spread the wealth. And who better to share with than the lovely readers of Wii Fanboy? Nobody, that's who.<br /><br />So, be sure to head on over to the original post and enter for your chance to win. Many of you are probably rocking your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/wii-zapper-gets-unboxed/">Wii Zapper</a> (hopefully gunning down <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/wii-fanboy-review-resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles/">some zombies</a>), but there are also other <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/19/wii-releases-for-the-week-of-november-19th/">releases</a> to be considered this week. There's just so much to play right now! So, you can imagine our weekend is going to be chock full of game time. <br /><br />What about you? What game (or games) will you be rocking? I've got every <em>Resident Evil </em>game, countless posters, shirts and figurines from the various games. The original was one of the most important games in my development as a gamer. It helped make me the gamer I am today.<br /><br />And when the franchise hit the GameCube, it was the icing on the cake. The <em>Resident Evil </em>remake that appeared on the system was amazing, along with <em>Resident Evil 0 </em>and the game that even franchise haters couldn't ignore, <em>Resident Evil 4</em>. As the first original game in the series on a Nintendo console since <em>RE 4</em>, this was an important game in my eyes.<br /><br />One has to consider the other spin-off <span style="font-style: italic;">Resident Evil</span> titles, also. You might be skeptical to try out <span style="font-style: italic;">Umbrella Chronicles</span> because of the <span style="font-style: italic;">Gun Survivor </span>or <span style="font-style: italic;">Outbreak</span> games. This, thankfully, is not in the same league as that riffraff.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/wii-fanboy-review-resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy Review: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/wii-fanboy-review-resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles/">Wii Fanboy Review: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Nov 2007 18:18:00 EST. <div align="left">A report making its way around the intertubes incorrectly states that the Blu-ray release of <em>Resident Evil: Extinction</em> will include playable demos for <em>Resident Evil 5</em> and <em>Devil May Cry 4</em>. The original story has since been <a href="http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Sony/Exclusive_HD_Content/Disc_Announcements/Sony_Joins_Profile_1.1_Party_with_Resident_Evil:_Extinction_Blu-ray/1165">updated</a> and Capcom has made a <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/567">clear statement</a> regarding the matter on their blog.<br /><br />The Blu-ray disc of RE: Extinction will include high-def trailers of both <em>RE5</em> and <em>DMC4</em>. There's no word yet if these are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/26/resident-evil-5-trailer-gets-extended/">trailers we've already seen</a> or something brand new. It's probably going to be a good while before we get a public demo of either of these hot titles.</div>

It seems we're now able to say that the Wii version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/re4">RE4</a></em> brought the old game back from the bargain bin grave and gave it life once more at a consumer friendly $30 price.<br /><br />Capcom plans to keep showing that third party developers can cash in on the Wii with the launch of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles-has-co-op-duh/"><em>Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles</em></a> on Nov. 13 and <em>We Love Golf</em> early next year. It's worth noting that Capcom really has been the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zackandwiki">publisher to watch</a> on new consoles. So far they've had numerous million sellers this generation like <em>Dead Rising </em>and <em>Lost Planet</em> -- well, at least <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/06/lost-planet-and-dead-rising-dont-break-100k-in-japan/">outside of Japan</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/30/resident-wii-vil-4-ships-a-million-units/">Resident 'Wii'-vil 4 ships a million units</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Oct 2007 17:00:00 EST. Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan today announced a collaboration that will see popular zombie extermination sim <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ResidentEvil/">Resident Evil</a></em> adapted into a full-length CG animation feature. The project, dubbed "<em>Biohazard: Degeneration</em>" in Japan (and presumably "<em>Resident Evil: Finding Necro</em>" in the West) promises "groundbreaking visual effects and a brand-new story line." Unfortunately, the rest of the <a href="http://ir.capcom.co.jp/english/news/html/e071029.html">press release</a> simply yammers on about the (un)live-action <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/04/third-resident-evil-film-to-be-buried-in-desert/">dreck starring Milla what's her face</a>.<br /><br />Given the reassuring lack of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uweboll">certain</a> German "directors" and the decision to embrace polygons over the pasty complexions of Hollywood C-listers, you may feel inclined to allot this game-to-film adaptation some anticipation. A similar approach yielded last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/22/tgs07-advent-children-gets-dirty-on-blu-ray/"><em>Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children</em></a> which, fan service fluff aside, at least managed to be entertaining and resistant to our recently invented word, "acraptation."<br /><br /><em>Biohazard: Degeneration</em> is currently aiming for a "terrifying release in 2008."<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.firingsquad.com/news/newsarticle.asp?searchid=18078">FiringSquad</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/29/capcom-sony-to-produce-animated-resident-evil-movie/">Capcom, Sony to produce animated Resident Evil movie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Oct 2007 19:32:00 EST. We have two sources of Weskeriffic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/fresh-footage-of-umbrella-chronicles/"><em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em></a> updates for you, to celebrate this most auspicious of made-up <em>Resident Evil</em>-related holidays (right after the Feast of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nk2lyg-GEM&amp;mode=related&amp;search=">Tofu</a> and Unlocking Week). First, Famitsu has posted a completely Wesker-focused update, which includes some new screens of the playable Wesker, and not much new information, other than that he's kind of a badass.<br /><br />Second, the official Japanese <em>Resident Evil </em><a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/bio_uc/">page</a> has updated with a new trailer (click on the "Movies" button, then the one marked "new", which focuses on-- you guessed it-- <strike>Hunk</strike> Albert Wesker. <p><em>Every Tuesday, Mike Sylvester brings you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/revolutionary/">REVOLUTIONARY</a>, a look at the wide world of Wii possibilities. </em></p>
<p>Thought of by many as the "Disney of video gaming," Nintendo has crafted themselves an image of family-friendly entertainment. But to certain generations and classes of gamers, the term "family-friendly" is synonymous with "kiddy," and immediately sparks disinterest. But ever since publishing Rare's <em>Killer Instinct</em>, they've been working on broadening the public's perspective. Trying to appeal to the bloodlust of the <em>Mortal Kombat</em> crowd didn't give them any headway, and as generations progressed and they've garnered more "mature-themed" titles, they still haven't been able to shake the "kiddy console" stigma. </p>
<p>Even after snagging the exclusivity to the <em>Resident Evil</em> series for a generation, Nintendo was largely overlooked by the Playstation-bred gamers that were brought up on the series. How much more will it take for Wii to be regarded as a platform that can satisfy the tastes of mature gamers? </p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/16/revolutionary-this-revolution-hasnt-been-televised/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Revolutionary: This Revolution Hasn't Been Televised</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/16/revolutionary-this-revolution-hasnt-been-televised/">Revolutionary: This Revolution Hasn't Been Televised</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Oct 2007 20:45:00 EST. If there's one thing we'll say about this video for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/fresh-uc-screens-show-ken-doll-zombies/"><em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em></a>, it looks like reloading with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/wii-zapper-and-links-crossbow-training-packaging-details/">Wii Zapper</a> is going to be a big pain in the <em>rear end</em>. Still, we're excited to play the game and can't wait to have a new title in the <em>Resident Evil</em> franchise to play. If you're one who doesn't mind seeing a large portion of gameplay before the title's release, then hit up the link below to check out some footage.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=26739">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/fresh-footage-of-umbrella-chronicles/">Fresh footage of Umbrella Chronicles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Oct 2007 12:45:00 EST. While Capcom's love affair with the PlayStation 3 has had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/27/more-capcom-games-on-xbox-360-than-ps3-and-wii-in-07/">all the warmth</a> of a vacation to E.D.N III, the upcoming year will see the company begin to move away from PS2 development in favor of creating games for Sony's latest console. The announcement, made by Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto, is sure to usher a sigh of relief from PS3 owners, who in lieu of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Dead%20Rising/"><em>Dead Rising</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LostPlanet/"><em>Lost Planet</em></a> have been forced to roam shopping malls and suck on ice cubes as they pine for better days. <br />
<br />
Tsujimoto also remarked that Capcom will also begin to embrace projects that can be developed for <em>both </em>the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in order to '<em>maximize profits</em>,' rather than look to platform exclusives, marking the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/24/could-lost-planet-come-to-ps3/">second such time</a> we've heard Capcom officials make this stand. We've already seen <em>Devil May Cry 4</em>, once believed to be Sony's alone, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/19/devil-may-cry-4-no-longer-a-playstation-3-exclusive/">become monogamously challenged</a>, with Capcom set to release the forthcoming title on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 in simultaneous fashion early next year and <em>Resident Evil 5</em> likewise coming to both consoles <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/06/resident-evil-5-likely-m-i-a-until-at-least-april-08/"><em>someday</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Interestingly, no mention of the Wii was made in the company's cross platform plans, though it seems likely that the console's nature will continue to spark more unique efforts like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/hands-on-with-resident-evil-the-umbrella-chronicles-for-wii/">dismally boring <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em></a> and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/15/joystiq-hands-on-zack-and-wiki/">smart adventure/puzzler <em>Zack &amp; Wiki</em></a>. One thing's for certain -- the coming year is going to be <em>very interesting</em> for Capcom.<br />

Now this is probably a complete coincidence, but reader Linh noticed something that was too fun to pass up. Check out this new still of Brendan Fraser from the upcoming <em>Mummy </em>film, <em>Tomb of the Dragon Emperor</em>. Remind you of anyone you know? Say ... Leon Kennedy of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ResidentEvil/">Resident Evil</a> </em>fame?<br /><br />We know, we know, it's a stretch. And, yes, it's almost certainly the product of happenstance. That said ... finglerless gloves? Really?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/03/the-mummy-3-cribbing-from-resident-evil-4/">The Mummy 3 cribbing from Resident Evil 4?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Oct 2007 14:58:00 EST. Sometimes a zombie is just going to be naked. We've all been there, fighting for our life against a horde of the undead, only to find one or more of them lacking clothes. It's pretty funny for a moment, then we've all got back to the <em>dispatching of the undead</em>. Old hat, we know.<br /><br />But these new <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em> screens are the stuff of nightmares. Naked zombies taking on a sort of doll-like appearance, lacking any kind of gender definition whatsoever? Man, that's all kinds of scary. Oh, and the mutant monkies aren't exactly the stuff of pleasant dreams, either.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/fresh-uc-screens-show-ken-doll-zombies/">Fresh UC screens show Ken doll zombies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Sep 2007 13:30:00 EST. An author on left-leaning AlterNet.org not only jumps on the controversy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/african-womens-blog-upset-over-resident-evil-5/"><em>Resident Evil 5</em>'s alleged racism</a>, but calls it a "racist video game series." The article is such a mess that you really have to <a href="http://www.alternet.org/movies/63266/">enjoy it for its absurdity</a>. The piece starts by saying those who go to see the "<a href="http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Movies/09/23/boxoffice.ap/index.html">blockbuster</a> <em>Resident Evil: Extinction</em>" in the theaters may want to play the game, but those who do "will likely enter a world little-known beyond the expensive and expansive universe of gaming, a world increasingly populated with very dangerous depictions of nonwhites."<br /><br />The author only covers <em>RE4</em> and <em>RE5</em> in declaring the series racist. For <em>RE4</em> he says its Spaniards have "stereotypical Mexican accents" and that <em>RE5</em> "could be a training video for a white supremacist race war or another U.S. military adventure in one of the increasing numbers of deserts on the planet." Beyond the <em>Resident Evil</em> series there is a rehash of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_Vice_City">Haitian controversy from <em>GTA: Vice City</em></a> -- although the author is way off in his timeline calling <em>GTA: VC</em> "this year's most popular video game." <br /><br />There's a lot more "racist" issues brought up, but the article really stands as great piece to highlight how even when you introduce diversity to gaming, it's not just the extreme exclusionists who get upset and don't understand why there are women, gays, non-whites in games, but the extreme inclusionists too. Although in the inclusionist's case they want a rosy picture painted of the non-majority group; however, that's boring for narrative, unrealistic and in the end racism really depends on context. There are more <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/17/criticism-of-racial-stereotyping-in-games/">moderate views on race issues in video games</a> and that really shouldn't be forgotten. The AlterNet article is just so weird in its "one step forward, two steps back" presentation, we can't help but share.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gamepolitics.com/2007/09/22/liberal-website-resident-evil-a-racist-video-game-series/">GamePolitics</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/24/resident-evil-called-racist-video-game-series/">Resident Evil called 'racist video game series'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Sep 2007 11:10:00 EST. Some people are all in favor of the Zapper, as we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/wii-warm-up-zapper-board-or-wheel/#comments">discussed this morning</a>, but Game|Life's Chris Kohler is not among them ... at least, not when it comes to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/umbrellachronicles/"><em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em></a>. After trying the game several times, he has consistently found that the Zapper is less optimal for this game than the simple naked combination of the Wii remote and nunchuk. At TGS, he was playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/08/two-player-possibilities-in-umbrella-chronicles/">co-op</a> with a freelancer who was even excited about the Zapper and its potential with the game. He played without, and she played with -- and halfway through, they switched.<br /><br />Once finished, he asked her which she preferred ... and she agreed with him. The Zapper may end up being great for other games, but in <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em>, it seems to make actions ungainly rather than precise, particularly when one has to reload or pick up objects. <br /><br />This makes us doubly interested in seeing how the shell affects other games, like the pack-in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/wii-zapper-and-links-crossbow-training-packaging-details/"><em>Link's Crossbow Training</em></a>, but for now, we think we may just stick to the remote and nunchuk. After all, the remote is a pointing device all on its own, and we've seen just how fantastic it can be for shooting.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/tgs07-kohler-says-umbrella-chronicles-just-better-without-the-z/">TGS07: Kohler says Umbrella Chronicles just better without the Zapper</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Sep 2007 19:00:00 EST. Why do we think he's a zombie? Well, his mouth is covered in blood. Wesker's red eyes is something we knew from the conclusion of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Wesker#Code:_Veronica"><em>Resident Evil: Code Veronica</em></a>, but he wasn't into eating flesh or anything (unless we missed something, which is possible considering how long it's been).<br /><br />As for the rest of the trailer, it's pure gold for <em>Resident Evil</em> fans (we can't wait to bust caps in Nemesis). The stock has risen 14 percent in the last two days and 33 percent this year.<br /><br />The good fortune has been attributed to sales of <em>Resident Evil 4 </em>for the Nintendo Wii, which is selling well worldwide, and expectations that the publisher's annual sales will rise 11 percent as it doubles the number of Wii titles it releases to six. Much of the increase, Bloomberg implies, is attributed to Capcom's vocalizing support for Nintendo's console. <br /><br />In November 2002, around the time of Capcom's last share high, the company had opened CE Europe Ltd. in London.<em></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/11/capcom-stock-hits-five-year-high-boosted-by-wii/">Capcom stock hits five-year high, boosted by Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Sep 2007 14:25:00 EST. For all three of you out there that are as excited about this game as we are, some new scans have made their way onto this mess of tubes we call the internet. As if we needed anything else to get us excited for this game.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/06/check-out-some-new-umbrella-chronicles-scans/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Check out some new Umbrella Chronicles scans</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/06/check-out-some-new-umbrella-chronicles-scans/">Check out some new Umbrella Chronicles scans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Sep 2007 19:30:00 EST. New <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/UmbrellaChronicles/">Umbrella Chronicles</a></em> video! Right <em>behind you!</em> And by "behind you" we mean "on this website to which we're linking!" It's a regional figure of speech. <br /><br />In addition to the video, you can read about the characters and setting of <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em> (people and places from old <em>Resident Evil </em>games, respectively) and look through a gallery of screenshots. <em>Scary</em> downloads are coming soon, but at the moment that link doesn't do anything. It'll be <em>totally</em> creepy when it does, rest assured.<br /><br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/04/resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles-jumps-out-of-the-internet-at/">Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles jumps out of the internet at you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Sep 2007 17:00:00 EST. But a petition to get a <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ResidentEvil/">Resident Evil</a></em> on the PSP has just caught the attention of the only entity that could actually do anything about it ... Capcom.<br /><br />A Capcom rep reportedly emailed the creator of the petition, saying, "As we plan for future games the team will definitely consider the fans and specifically your petition." However, the creator was told that, for the petition to have a real effect, 10,000 signatures would have to be garnered. If you want to <a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/pspres/petition.html">sign up</a>, you'd better hurry: They're <a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?pspres">more than halfway there</a> and you don't want to miss your chance to be part of gaming history's least unsuccessful petitions.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/08/23/resident-evil-petition-gets-capcoms-attention/">PSPF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/24/capcom-interested-in-resident-evil-pspetition/">Capcom interested in Resident Evil PSPetition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Aug 2007 11:55:00 EST. Online petitions rarely get the attention of the publishers that they're targeting. Not in this case, however. The official call for a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/09/resident-evil-fans-start-petition-for-series-to-hit-psp/"><em>Resident Evil</em> PSP game</a> has earned the attention of Capcom. In an e-mail sent to the petition creator, a Capcom representative made note that for real results to be seen, <em>10,000</em> signatures would be needed: "As we plan for future games the team will definitely consider the fans and specifically your petition. It does have impact. Keep me updated on the number of signatures. If you get over 10,000 that will draw significant attention."<br /><br />When we found out that Capcom was taking notice, we had to sign the petition. If you ignored the first call for signatures, make sure you <a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/pspres/petition.html"><strong>take action now</strong></a>: a <em>Resident Evil</em> game may grace our handheld -- and who wouldn't want that?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/resident-evil-petition-gets-capcoms-attention/">Resident Evil petition gets Capcom's attention</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Aug 2007 18:00:00 EST. The look of the upcoming <em>Resident Evil</em> on-rails shooter, <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em>, has grown by leaps and bounds since we first started to see screenshots. The November release dates are fast approaching, so what we're seeing here is probably a lot of what we'll be seeing on our televisions once this hits shelves. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/15/wii-warm-up-so-about-the-umbrella-chronicles/">discussed opinions</a> on this title back in April, and it seems like a good time to ask if you're now more (or hey, less, for the <em>haters</em>) excited about this one than you were back then. <br /><br />We've updated the gallery with the latest screens, and the dates embedded with the images allows you to compare shots and see how things have come along since we got our first glimpses of the title. There's also a new trailer tucked away after the break for your viewing pleasure. We just love all the new trailers that surface for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/e307-wii-blaster-with-umbrella-chronicles-trailer/">game conferences</a>!<br /><br />[Top image found <a href="http://wiiz.fr/article.php?a=13126">here</a>, along with others!]<br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/umbrella-chronicles-looks-horrifying-in-a-good-way/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Umbrella Chronicles looks horrifying - in a good way</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/23/umbrella-chronicles-looks-horrifying-in-a-good-way/">Umbrella Chronicles looks horrifying - in a good way</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Aug 2007 12:00:00 EST. What's your favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/31/miyamoto-hints-at-new-nintendo-franchise-in-2008/">franchise</a> on Nintendo consoles? You've got your <em>Mario, Zelda,</em> and<em> Metroid</em>, obviously, but there's also <em>Sonic</em>, <em>Resident Evil</em>, <em>Mega Man, Street Fighter</em>, and years and years of other series throughout history. If you saw <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/08/new-umbrella-chronicles-scans-show-off-other-segments-character/">these scans</a> the other day and thought, "wow, I'd love to see those screens," then this post's for you. Dengeki Online has that very thing -- the latest in <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em> shots. If they're just cleaned up, then it's a very good job. Regardless, we're happy to get a closer look at some of the images! Head on over if you want to see for yourself.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/10/umbrella-chronicles-images-move-from-scans-to-the-screen/">Umbrella Chronicles images move from scans to the screen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Aug 2007 16:40:00 EST. A <a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/pspres/petition.html">petition</a> has surfaced on the net, with the goal of pressuring Capcom into making a <em>Resident Evil</em> game for the PSP. The petition reads "We, PSP ( Playstation Portable ) owners would like Capcom to release to our beloved handheld game console at least one of the games from there famous survivor/horror franchise : <em>Resident Evil</em> . <br /> We are also aware of the fact, that there is already a PSP version of the first <em>Resident Evil </em>game on the PSN ( Playstation Network ) but because of the lack of PS3 systems we cannot purchase this game . <br /> Seeing the history of <em>Resident Evil</em> games on Playstation consoles, we can guarantee you, that the game will be a success ."<br /><br />Personally, we'd like to see Capcom make an original <em>Resident Evil</em> entry for the PSP. Then again, when it comes down to it, we love the series enough to be happy with whatever we get (as long as it's not a <em>Gun Survivor</em> title). <br /><br />[Thanks Joe!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/09/resident-evil-fans-start-petition-for-series-to-hit-psp/">Resident Evil fans start petition for series to hit PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Aug 2007 07:00:00 EST. If there's one thing we can <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/joystiq-plays-umbrella-chronicles-doesnt-like-it-again/">complain</a> about in <em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em>, it's that we've only seen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-umbrella-chronicles-1/">screens</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/new-umbrella-chronicles-trailer-shows-off-more-of-the-mansion/">video</a> of the game during its sections involving the mansion from the first <em>Resident Evil</em>. Thanks to some new scans, however, we get some glimpses at the other segments that will make up the game. And, we're excited! The zombies look pretty good, if we may say so.<br /><br />Head past the break for the scans.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/08/new-umbrella-chronicles-scans-show-off-other-segments-character/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Umbrella Chronicles scans show off other segments, characters</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/08/new-umbrella-chronicles-scans-show-off-other-segments-character/">New Umbrella Chronicles scans show off other segments, characters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Aug 2007 13:30:00 EST. <p> The new extended <em>Resident Evil 5</em> trailer is available on the PlayStation Store (and here). The brief teaser we saw at E3 is expanded upon, showing off some of the more incredible environments and terrifying "non?" zombies to be featured in this next-gen sequel. And yes, it's all <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/07/26/resident-evil-5-trailer/">in real time</a>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/22801.html">Watch the trailer</a>, enjoy the new screenshots, and don't forget to visit the PlayStation Store to download the trailer in full HD glory. [<strong>Update:</strong> This video is of the Xbox 360 version. A PS3 version is definitely in the works.]<br /><br /></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/26/resident-evil-5-trailer-gets-extended/">Resident Evil 5 trailer gets extended</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jul 2007 16:00:00 EST.
