GLaDOS, main baddie of the Portal games, will be the dealer, so rest assured each hand will be extremely <em>scientific</em>.<br /><br /><em>Poker Night at the Inventory 2</em> is "coming soon" to Steam for PC and Mac, alongside Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN, with more platforms to be announced. Check out the premiere trailer above. <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=51430779&amp;postcount=1">NeoGAF</a> members dug into Telltale's "key party" tease last week and uncovered a lineup of screenshots, pictured below.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/poker-night-at-the-inventory-2/">Telltale Games' Poker Night 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/poker-night-at-the-inventory-2/#5783184"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/screenlg1-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/poker-night-at-the-inventory-2/#5783185"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/screenlg2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/poker-night-at-the-inventory-2/#5783186"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/screenlg3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/01/poker-night-at-the-inventory-2-deals-in-glados-claptrap-ash-wi/">Poker Night at the Inventory 2 deals in GLaDOS, Claptrap, Ash Williams</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Apr 2013 17:00:00 EST. These aren't permanent pricing changes, of course, so anyone looking to get their adventuring feet wet with something a little more family friendly than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-walking-dead">the alternative</a> should take note.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/05/sam-and-max-beyond-time-and-space-ios-on-sale-first-episode-free/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sam &amp; Max: Beyond Time and Space iOS on sale, first episode free</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/05/sam-and-max-beyond-time-and-space-ios-on-sale-first-episode-free/">Sam &amp; Max: Beyond Time and Space iOS on sale, first episode free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 05 May 2012 20:30:00 EST. Okay, so you can't go <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/23/back-to-the-future-review/"><em>Back to the Future</em></a> or have a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/29/poker-night-at-the-inventory-review/"><em>Poker Night at the Inventory</em></a>, but you can point and click your way through most of the Telltale Games' catalog for 50 percent off until January 3, 2011.<br />
<br />
That means you can listen to some <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em>, help <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> with some freelance police work, invent a reason to hang out with <em>Wallace &amp; Gromit, </em>or man up with <em>Strong Bad</em> (but only if you're attractive) at a significant discount on the <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/store/">Telltale site</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/27/telltale-games-having-50-off-sale-until-january-3/">Telltale Games having 50% off sale until January 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Dec 2010 11:45:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">Telltale Games has a difficult tightrope to walk, balancing as it does between narrative and gameplay. The studio counts on you being immersed in the universes it creates, but also has to keep all that character from getting in the way of the game it has crafted.</div>
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/poker-night-at-the-inventory"><em>Poker Night at the Inventory</em></a> seems to be drenched in the studio's typical humor and likable characters. But it quickly becomes clear that the repetitive dialog is muddying a poker game that was already weak to begin with. In short: Telltale has fallen off the rope entirely.<br />
<br />
At least in <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> there's always the chance of redemption in the next narrative-led mission. In <em>Poker Night </em>... well, there's just the next oddly timed "sandvich" joke.<br />

The DeSoto you know could've been something very different, as this concept art from Steve Purcell's blog reveals. The image is from <em>Sam &amp; Max Plunge Through Time</em>, a never-released game first announced in 2001 as an Xbox exclusive.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/11/the-sam-and-max-desoto-that-almost-was/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Sam &amp; Max DeSoto that almost was</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/11/the-sam-and-max-desoto-that-almost-was/">The Sam &amp; Max DeSoto that almost was</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Nov 2010 06:00:00 EST. It wouldn't be Halloween weekend if Telltale didn't offer a chapter of one of its adventure series for free -- well, we guess it still would be Halloween weekend, since ... that's how <em>time</em> works. Regardless, you can grab <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sam-and-max-beyond-time-and-space"><em>Sam and Max: Night of the Raving Dead</em></a> this weekend for free.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/30/telltale-offering-free-sam-and-max-chapter-this-halloween-weeken/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Telltale offering free Sam and Max chapter this Halloween weekend</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/30/telltale-offering-free-sam-and-max-chapter-this-halloween-weeken/">Telltale offering free Sam and Max chapter this Halloween weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Oct 2010 19:30:00 EST. Oh, you haven't found the time to acquire <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/telltale-games-bundles-puzzle-agent-sam-and-max-four-more-for/">Telltale's Great Adventure Bundle 2010</a>, a twenty-dollar package which includes a <em>grip</em> of adventure games both new and old, 25 percent of the proceeds from which go to charities like Child's Play and The Leukemia &amp; Lymphoma Society? That's too bad -- the offer ended last Friday, and your donation would have given these organizations the resources they finally needed to cure like, nine diseases. Bet you feel pretty terrible right now, don't you? Huh? <em>Huh</em>?<br />
<br />
We're sorry we had to trick you like that -- <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-665">Telltale actually just extended</a> the offer until this Friday, September 17, giving you one last chance to correct your shameful oversight. Think of the children! Or, rather, think of your own insatiable hunger for point-and-click adventure games!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/12/great-adventure-bundle-deal-extended-until-friday/">The Great Adventure Bundle 2010 deal extended until Friday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Sep 2010 16:30:00 EST. Well, this is certainly ... unexpected. Telltale Games recently uploaded a <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-debut-untitled-telltale/703720">brief teaser trailer</a> (posted below) for an unannounced title featuring a few cryptic messages, as well as the line-up seen above. Fans of adventure games (and, uh, team-based shooters) will recognize the silhouettes pictured therein as Tycho from <em>Penny Arcade Adventures</em>, Max from <em>Sam and Max</em>, the Heavy from <em>Team Fortress 2</em> and Strong Bad from <em>Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</em>. That's in order from left to right, in case you're <em>really</em> unfamiliar with the aforementioned games.<br />
<br />
We could spend the rest of the fantasizing about the manner in which these four properties could be blended, but we won't have to wait long for the actual explanation -- the trailer promises more info on the untitled project will be released next Thursday, September 2.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/28/telltale-teases-penny-arcade-strong-bad-tf2-sam-and-max-mash/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Telltale teases Penny Arcade, Strong Bad, TF2, Sam and Max mash-up</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/28/telltale-teases-penny-arcade-strong-bad-tf2-sam-and-max-mash/">Telltale teases Penny Arcade, Strong Bad, TF2, Sam and Max mash-up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 28 Aug 2010 11:00:00 EST. <br />
Even if you won't be playing <em>Monkey Island</em> on PS3, this news likely benefits you. To celebrate the PSN release, Telltale is temporarily knocking down the price of the collection to $20 across <em>all</em> platforms -- not just PSN. The PC and Mac versions will also be sold at this discount price on <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/store/talesofmonkeyisland">Telltale's website</a> through June 30. Obtaining the episodes this way is easier than hijacking a boat carrying shipments of <em>Monkey Island</em> games -- and actually cheaper, too.<br />
<br />
Additionally, and especially if you prefer your Telltale protagonists anthropomorphic, you'll be pleased to know that <em>Sam &amp; Max</em>'s third episode of the third season, "They Stole Max's Brain!," will be available via (the North American) PSN and for PC and Mac on June 22; and the Euro PSN release will follow on June 23. And, hey, <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> is on sale too! You can get the full season on PSN for $25.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-3-they-stole-maxs-brain/">Sam &amp; Max: Devil's Playhouse: Episode 3: They Stole Max's Brain!</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-3-they-stole-maxs-brain/#3067963"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/sam2010-06-11-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-3-they-stole-maxs-brain/#3067966"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/sam2010-06-11-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-3-they-stole-maxs-brain/#3067967"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/sam2010-06-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />

First, you should know that Telltale has released the <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/store/samandmax-collection"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em> Complete Pack</a>, which crams the first two seasons of the episodic <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max">Sam &amp; Max</a> </em>series along with the currently 'airing' third season, <em>The Devil's Playhouse</em>, all into one package. The second thing you should know -- please, pay attention -- is that the Complete Pack is currently <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs">on sale</a> for the ludicrously low price of $49.99, one heckuva deal considering the usual $95 price tag. If you've been looking for an excuse to dip your toes into the delightfully mad world of <em>Sam &amp; Max</em>, this is it. Just do it quickly, because the sale ends June 2 at midnight PT.<br />
<br />
Mac users take note: only Seasons 2 and 3 are currently compatible with OS X. Telltale plans to port Season 1 "<a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=303954&amp;postcount=18">eventually</a>," noting that its older code makes the porting process more difficult than the newer seasons. A Telltale purchase counts for both Windows and OS X versions, so Mac users will be able to download Season 1 free of charge once the port is finished.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/20/get-all-three-seasons-of-sam-and-max-for-50/">Get all three seasons of Sam &amp; Max for $50</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 May 2010 20:30:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">PSN Tuesday brings the cute and epic this week. Cute comes in the form of <em>Rocket Knight</em>, which may have some of its sales <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2010/05/12/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-things-on-wheels-rocket-knight/">fueled by nostalgia</a>, but can be a blast for those in the mood for classic (pseudo) 2D side-scrolling. The epic is delivered by <em>Dragon Age: Origins' </em>"<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/darkspawn-chronicles">Darkspawn Chronicles</a>" DLC, which is just the latest add-on in the saga of Ferelden -- this one with a "what if" twist. <br />

Telltale has sent over some media from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max-the-devils-playhouse/"><em>Sam &amp; Max: The Devil's Playhouse</em></a>'s second episode, <em>The Tomb of Sammun-Mak, </em>which takes the duo down a decidedly gentlemanly path. Sure, there's only the one in-game screenshot where <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-two/#2964434">Sam is sporting some bushy whiskers</a> (good show, old boy!) but there's still other items to leisurely peruse, perhaps while sipping a fine Earl Grey tea. There are also several pieces of art for your eyes to appreciate, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-two/#2964437">a posh train</a> and rather <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-two/#2964438">down-on-his-luck-looking Max</a>, if that's more to your liking.<br />
<br />
So, put on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sam-and-max-devils-playhouse-episode-two/#2964440">your most dashing outfit</a> and be sure to head into our gallery for a sophisticated look at the upcoming episode. Tally-ho!<br />

Seriously, can you believe that's how long the title is? It's really, really that long. <br />
<br />
As the name would imply,<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max-the-devils-playhouse-episode-1-the-penal-zone">Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse: Episode 1: The Penal Zone</a></em> isn't the first game in the series. In fact, it's either the third, fifth or 14th, depending on how you're counting. Whether you've been keeping up with the ongoing series or if you're (like myself) a lapsed player, you'll be glad to hear that the freelance police are still at the top of their game.<br />

Ever since I peered through Future Vision -- an amazing ocular toy employed in the first episode of Telltale's latest adventure, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max-the-devils-playhouse">Sam &amp; Max: The Devil's Playhouse</a></em> -- my awareness of time has been (was?) sullied. In fact, I will never be more convinced that I'm staring through the device in this very moment, plagiarizing every word my future self was writing ... later today. Yes. <br />
<br />
Now I will write, <em>I feel like I'm being watched</em>.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">Celebrating the release of the first episode of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max-the-devils-playhouse"><em>Sam &amp; Max: The Devil's Playhouse</em></a>, Valve has announced an <em>interesting</em> promoti onal tie-in with <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/team-fortress-2"><em>Team Fortress 2</em></a>. Starting today, anyone who pre-ordered <em>The Devil's Playhouse</em> or purchases it within the first week on Steam will get a <a href="http://teamfortress.com/post.php?id=3698&amp;p=1">special batch of items</a> for <em>Team Fortress 2</em>. The three items, pictured above, were crafted by Telltale and include Max's pistol, Sam's revolver and -- bizarrely -- Max's severed head. The hat is purely cosmetic, and we have no idea what the stats are for the pistols, but who cares? Just <em>look</em> at them. If you like <em>Team Fortress 2</em> and you like <em>Sam &amp; Max</em>, it's pretty much a no-brainer.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/15/buy-sam-and-max-on-steam-get-items-in-team-fortress-2/">Buy Sam &amp; Max on Steam, get items in Team Fortress 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Apr 2010 23:45:00 EST. <em>Final Fight: Double Impact</em> is the highlight of this week's PSN update -- especially if you're a <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2010/04/14/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-final-fight-double-impact/"><em>Magic Sword</em> fanboy</a>. Those interested in test drives can take the <em>Skate 3 </em>demo out for an ollie, while the latest <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> adventure game is also available to try.<br />
<br />
As has become normal, there's an impressive new helping of comics for the PSP. This latest update adds the first eight issues of <em>Kick-Ass</em>, which has, as they stamp on the covers of those rectangular objects known as books nowadays, become "a major motion picture."<br />
<br />

While the trailer is specifically tailored to the iPad version -- which is already available -- we're sure that all the Mac, PC and PS3 holdouts will enjoy it just the same (while they wait until next week). Just to make that pain a little more poignant, Telltale has also announced that iPad version of the first episode, <em>The Penal Zone</em>, is now on sale in the App Store. Usually going for $9.99, the season opener can be gotten at $6.99 for "a limited time."<br />

After all, with endearing, demented characters like Sam and Max taking up quite a bit of the screen, who cares how many polygons are left for that potted plant in the corner?<br />
<br />
"We wanted to bump everything up presentation-wise for this season," said designer Chuck Jordan, drawing attention to the Telltale engine's impressive -- nay, <em>tight</em> -- visual enhancements. <em>The Penal Zone</em>, the first of five monthly episodes comprising <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max-the-devils-playhouse">Sam &amp; Max: The Devil's Playhouse</a></em>, features noticeably improved lighting, real-time shadows and more expressive facial animation. As Jordan pointed out, "an expression can sell a joke for the first time." <br />
<br />
Based on the demo I saw at the Game Developers Conference, it's also apparent that the improved graphics <em>do</em> make a difference to that potted plant. Because you transform into one. "When you finally get to control Max," Jordan said, "it's really weird." Like, really really weird.<br />

Sam and Max will bring their off-kilter humor to PlayStation 3 for the first time in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/11/sam-and-max-penetrate-the-penal-zone-april-15-on-pc-mac-ps3/">The Devil's Playhouse: The Penal Zone</a></em>, the first episode in a new season of Telltale's episodic adventure series. In a first for the PlayStation Store, the full season -- consisting of five monthly episodes -- will become available for pre-order on <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/company/pressreleases/id-104">March 18</a>, nearly a month before <em>The Penal Zone</em> launches on April 15. <br />
<br />
While PC and Mac owners will receive substantial benefits for pre-ordering the full season, including a free game episode, access to developer chats and extra downloadable goodies, Telltale noted that it also has a deal in store (you know, actually <em>in the store</em>) for console players. According to Telltale PR manager Chris Schmidt, pre-ordering the full pack will reduce the cost to $29.99, a minor but not unwelcome discount from the regular price of $34.95. <br />
<br />
Speaking to Joystiq at a meeting during the Game Developers Conference on Friday, Schmidt also addressed the obvious question: Will this season of <em>Sam &amp; Max </em>come to Xbox 360 or Wii? He called it a "definite possibility" a few months down the line, and noted that it's in Telltale's best interest to work with more partners and deliver its games to as wide an audience as possible. Designer Chuck Jordan jokingly added that Telltale would ultimately like "to get the games on everything that has a chip in it."<br />
<br />
Forget the 360 -- what could be better than getting <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> in a tube of Pringles?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/12/sam-and-max-psn-pre-orders-start-march-18/">Sam &amp; Max PSN pre-orders start March 18; other console versions a 'definite possibility'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Mar 2010 18:00:00 EST. <br />
With Guybrush Threepwood fans <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/telltale-games-headed-to-mac-tales-of-monkey-island-out-now/">taken care of</a>, Telltale's adventure game-lovin' enthusiasts have voted <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max">Sam &amp; Max</a></em> as the next title to get Mac-ified. The <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-580">Telltale blog</a> confirmed the choice yesterday, saying that the other two titles up for porting (<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wallace-and-gromit">Wallace &amp; Gromit</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/strong-bad">Strong Bad</a></em>) will be playable on OS X "within the course of this year." Alongside the announcement (which didn't include a release date), the site posted a handful of "propaganda" created by voters to sway others to their side. We've posted one of our faves above, but we suggest checking out the whole lot.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/02/sam-and-max-voted-as-next-telltale-series-for-macs/">Sam &amp; Max voted as next Telltale series for Macs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Mar 2010 14:20:00 EST. The bunny was already out of the velvet hat regarding <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/09/sam-and-max-the-devils-playhouse-outed-by-oflc/">Sam &amp; Max: The Devil's Playhouse - Episode 1: The Penal Zone</a></em>, but here's a twist: it's coming to the PS3, according to the <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=28651">ESRB</a>. If true, this would be the first time Sam &amp; Max bring their special style of police work to Sony's console. Oddly, no ratings for other consoles (nor PC) have been published on the ESRB's online database.<br />
<br />
We're currently following up with developer Telltale and the ESRB for clarification on platforms. After all, nobody should be left out when it comes to the <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> adventure games.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update 2</strong>: The ESRB rating has been pulled. According to the ESRB, "The platforms listed on our site are those that have been identified to us by game publishers. As it turns out, this title has been removed from our website today at the request of the publisher, but will be reposted at a later date. Any question related to this title and what platforms it will be available on should go to its publisher."<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: A Telltale rep tells us, "It's fine to say multi-platform, including PC and a selected console platform. And one might <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/telltale-games-headed-to-mac-tales-of-monkey-island-out-now/">speculate on Mac too</a> for this series, given our announcements at Macworld earlier this month. Real official news is expected very soon."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/24/esrb-rates-sam-and-max-the-devils-playhouse-for-ps3/">ESRB rates 'Sam &amp; Max: The Devil's Playhouse' for PS3 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Feb 2010 09:15:00 EST. Hey, remember that "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/28/report-telltale-porting-its-games-to-mac-hints-at-ipad/">totally unconfirmed" report</a> that stated Telltale would be bringing its whole catalog to the Mac and, furthermore, would be showing off Mac versions of its games at Macworld? You can slide that over to "totally confirmed" now, as Telltale has officially announced that it is indeed <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-572">bringing its titles to Mac OS</a>. The first game to hit the platform will be <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em>, which is actually available for the Mac right now. Telltale is currently asking fans to <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/macgames">decide which game it releases next</a>: <em>Strong Bad</em>, <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> or <em>Wallace and Gromit</em>.<br />
<br />
Perhaps the best part about it all: Telltale also announced that the Mac versions of its games will be free to anyone who already purchased the PC version. Presumably, that also means that those who buy the Mac version will have access to PC versions. Either way, it means a whole new audience for Telltale's games.<br />
<br />
The company will be at Macworld this week, showcasing <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em>. Speaking of which, curious Mac gamers out there can grab the <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland">demo for <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em></a> at the Telltale website (and we suggest you do).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/telltale-games-headed-to-mac-tales-of-monkey-island-out-now/">Telltale games headed to Mac, Tales of Monkey Island out now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Feb 2010 16:10:00 EST. Like good burlesque, Telltale had been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/29/sam-and-max-season-1-on-sale-for-5/">teasing</a> a new season of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em></a> ... meanwhile, like good porn, Australia's OFLC went ahead and just <a href="http://www.oflc.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/5b6ebdff7f5b9a24ca2575ca00062226/6c66cf0c346229b6ca2576c40057e9e9!OpenDocument">exposed the goods</a>. Unless a dramatic change occurs, it appears the title of the next installment in the comedic adventure series is titled <em>Sam &amp; Max: The Devil's Playhouse - Episode 1: The Penal Zone. </em><br />
<br />
The premature ratings announcement obviously doesn't contain much aside from a title -- there's no telling whether the game might eventually <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/28/report-telltale-porting-its-games-to-mac-hints-at-ipad/">come to Mac or iPhone</a> as recently rumored -- but at this point, we'll take whatever glimpse we can get.<br />

We're not big fans of teaser pages, but we do wish there were a few more like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/09/telltale-teases-new-sam-and-max-in-2010/">the one</a> hinting at more <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/samandmax2010"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em> in 2010</a>. The site has now evolved beyond rambling about "a power-mad space gorilla" to ... well, there's still some rambling, but there's also a real deal: The whole first season of Telltale's <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> for just $4.99.<br />
<br />
If you haven't touched the series or just like buying things really, really cheap, now would be the time to act. Here's to hoping future teasers follow <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Telltale/">Telltale's</a> lead and lump some utility in with the titillation.<br />
<br />
[<strong>Update: </strong>If that price still isn't low enough for you, Telltale's offering one of any episode from any series for free to those who <a href="http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/gaming ">complete this survey</a>. Hop to it!]<br />
<br />

According to <a href="http://www.maclife.com/article/news/telltale_officially_launching_monkey_island_and_more_mac_ipad_could_be_next">Mac|Life</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Telltale/">Telltale</a> will begin supporting the Mac platform starting on Febrary 8 with <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tales-of-monkey-island">Tales of Monkey Island</a> -- and, a</em>s what can only be described as a <em>great </em>idea, gamers will be able to download both the Mac and PC versions of Telltale's games for one price. In other words, you won't have to worry about which version you buy, because you'll be getting both. <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em> is to be the first title to receive Mac support, with <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wallace-and-gromit"><em>Wallace &amp; Gromit</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/strong-bad"><em>Strong Bad</em></a> to follow (supposedly in that order, by the way). Both seasons of <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> should arrive within "several weeks" of <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em>, with the others arriving in the following months, the site writes.<br />
<br />
The report also mentions that Telltale plans to convert its entire catalog -- with the exception of <em>Bone</em> and <em>Texas Hold 'Em</em> -- according to Mac|Life. Its Telltale source declined to confirm if ports are on their way to the iPhone or iPad as well, though he did reiterate Telltale's desire to expand to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/20/telltale-hoping-to-push-content-to-new-consoles-handhelds-and-mac/">as many platforms as possible</a>.<br />
<br />
When reached for comment by Joystiq, a Telltale representative called the report "totally unconfirmed," adding that potential iPhone or iPad support is "total speculation" at this point. According to the Mac|Life report, Telltale will be showing off its Mac titles at the Macworld Expo on February 11, so you can bet we'll be stopping by to find out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/28/report-telltale-porting-its-games-to-mac-hints-at-ipad/">Report: Telltale porting its games to Mac, hints at iPad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Jan 2010 18:40:00 EST. <small>click to Maximize images</small></center>Everyone's favorite <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max">episodic adventure game series</a> about anthropomorphic detectives (we assume!) is returning in 2010! Telltale Games just put up a teaser site for something <em>Sam and Max</em>-related happening in 2010, featuring concept art hidden within the Sam and Max constellations (which we've placed in our gallery for your convenience).<br />
<br />
The reference in the audio narration to "a power-mad space gorilla pitted against a canine detective and a sociopathic bunny with psychic powers," along with the starry-sky imagery and (most definitively) the Max spaceship suggest that Sam and Max will be <em>in space</em>. Impressive -- it took the <em>Leprechaun</em> movie series <em>four</em> installments to make it off the Earth. <br />
<br />
The narration also mentions that "This story will be different. You will be in control." This could be a reference to a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/28/telltale-working-on-sam-and-max-season-3-using-cursor-less-contro/">new control scheme</a> Telltale planned to use in Season 3.<br />

If you've been waiting to ride the wave of resurgence the adventure genre has been enjoying, now's the time to wax that board, kick off your flip-flops and hit the water: <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-528">Telltale</a> has put full seasons of its adventure games on sale. For the low price of one Andrew Jackson (otherwise known as $20), you can snag a full season of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wallace-and-gromit"><em>Wallace &amp; Gromit</em></a> or <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/review-strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/"><em>Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</em></a>. <br />
<br />
Act quickly, though -- the sale ends at 12PM PDT this Monday, November 9.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/06/telltale-offering-full-seasons-of-sam-and-max-wallace-and-gromit-s/">Telltale offering full seasons of Sam &amp; Max, Wallace &amp; Gromit, Strong Bad for $20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Nov 2009 02:00:00 EST. With more avenues now open between consumers and game creators than ever before, third-party companies like Telltale Games can sell their wares on every platform -- as long as their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/03/telltale-engine-doesnt-support-playstation-yet/">software runs on it</a>. That's the tricky part, but Telltale CEO and co-founder Dan Connors has told <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/telltale-games-dan-connors-interview?page=1">Gamesindustry.biz</a> that his team is already looking to take advantage of the "huge potential" out there.<br /><br />"I definitely think there's huge potential there, and right now we're working on getting our content over to some more channels, over to new consoles and the Mac," Connors said. With any luck, PlayStation 3 will be caught in Telltale's wider net -- it's the only current home console that has yet to be visited by a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max">talking dog</a>, a hyper-kinetic rabbity thing ... or even a dog that doesn't talk but is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wallace-and-gromit">still weirdly expressive</a>.<br /><br />Telltale's ambitions go further still, added Connors. "And after that's done, we're going to be looking at handhelds. I think we have to consider the PSP Go for sure."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/20/telltale-hoping-to-push-content-to-new-consoles-handhelds-and-mac/">Telltale hoping to push content to new consoles, handhelds &amp; Macs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Oct 2009 20:30:00 EST. One -- <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max Beyond Time and Space</em></a> -- is a buddy comedy fueled by crime, conversation and jokes, while the other -- <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/axel-and-pixel"><em>Axel &amp; Pixel</em></a> -- is a puzzle solving affair rendered with bright colors and quirky animation. We're not sure what we did to deserve two point-and-click adventure games this week but, frankly, we're not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially considering these <em>aren't</em> gifts at all.<br />

No, they cost real money. 1600<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> in the case of <em>Sam &amp; Max</em>, and 800<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> for <em>Axel &amp; Pixel</em>.<br />

<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> is heavy on the ampersands this week as both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/axel-and-pixel"><em>Axel &amp; Pixel</em></a> and the second season of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em></a> (subtitled <em>Beyond Time and Space</em>, according to the <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=27168">ESRB</a>) will be <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/10/12/this-week-on-arcade-axel-amp-pixel-and-sam-amp-max-season-2.aspx">landing</a> on Microsoft's download service. Both are games of the adventuring persuasion, requiring players to traverse the game world and solve puzzles, performing actions by pointing and / or clicking. Yes, you read that correctly, two adventure games in one week. It's like the 80s all over again.<br />
<br />
<em>Axel &amp; Pixel</em> will set you back 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /></span> ($10). Meanwhile, <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> tops out at the most you should <em>ever</em> pay for a computer game. Also known as 1600<span class="album_title"><img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /></span> ($20).<br />

This week, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> gets not one, but two genres that rarely see the light of day on consoles. First, we've got the collectible card game, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/magic-the-gathering"><em>Magic the Gather: Duels of the Planeswalkers</em></a>. Unlike the weird <em>Magic</em> title on the original Xbox -- which played something like a weird monster summoning / volleyball hybrid -- <em>Planeswalkers</em> sticks to the traditional card game, which should make fans mighty happy. The game will deal 800<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10) damage to your wallet.<br /><br />Next, we have the XBLA debut of the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em></a> adventure series, <em>Sam &amp; Max Save the World</em>. <em>Save the World</em> is actually the first season of the <em>Sam &amp; Max</em> episodic series that has been available on PC and Wii for some time now. That's six episodes of comedy gold for 1600<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($20). For those keeping score, that's the same price as the PC version and $10 cheaper than the Wii version.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/15/this-wednesday-magic-the-gathering-sam-and-max-hit-the-xbla/">This Wednesday: Magic the Gathering, Sam &amp; Max hit the XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Jun 2009 13:43:00 EST. <div align="left">Telltale Games just slipped a note under our door to inform us that season one of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em></a>, subtitled <em>Save the World</em>, is all finished up and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/sam-and-maxs-first-two-seasons-punning-to-xbla/">coming to Xbox Live Arcade</a> on June 17 for 1600 Microsoft Points (or $20 Earth Bucks). That's next Wednesday! (Thankfully, the spit-take shield for our TV should arrive on Monday.)<br /><br />But what of season two, <em>Beyond Time and Space</em>? It's definitely headed to XBLA "in the coming months," according to the tellers of tales. That's good to know, seeing as nailing down something outside the bounds of space-time can be <em>pretty </em>tricky.</div>
