Suzuki will be succeeded by Naoto Hiraoka, current head of consumer business at parent company <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index_Corporation">Index Corporation</a>, though Suzuki will remain on board in an advisory role until October. No specific reason was given concerning Suzuki's departure.<br /><br />Suzuki's tenure as CEO and president was earmarked by the releases of some of Atlus' most well known games, such as <em>Trauma Center</em>, <em>Persona 4</em>, <em>Catherine</em> and <em>Demon's Souls</em>. While his gradual departure from the company is explained away as a synergistic way to transfer leadership, we suspect the <em>actual</em> reason is that Suzuki will first have to navigate an infinite tower of trap-riddled cubes, all while confronting his inner fears and limitations.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/02/atlus-north-america-ceo-shinichi-suzuki-steps-down/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Atlus North America CEO Shinichi Suzuki steps down</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/02/atlus-north-america-ceo-shinichi-suzuki-steps-down/">Atlus North America CEO Shinichi Suzuki steps down</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Aug 2012 14:00:00 EST. "But what of our RPGs about super-stylish high school students?," you may have asked. "Any news about my beloved sci-fi surgery simulators?" "Will I still have dungeons in which to crawl?" <br />
<br />
Atlus USA president Shinichi Suzuki issued a statement today to allay our fears. "
<meta charset="utf-8">We want to assure our fans and affiliates that Atlus remains in operation and will continue, as always, to support our beloved community with the finest quality game experiences possible," Suzuki said. You can read the full statement after the break, then take a sigh of relief and get back to your everyday life of wondering when Atlus USA is going to announce a localization of <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/catherine">Catherine</a></em>.</meta><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/atlus-usa-president-reassures-fans/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Atlus USA president reassures fans</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/04/atlus-usa-president-reassures-fans/">Atlus USA president reassures fans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Sep 2010 01:00:00 EST.
