Way of the Dogg out now on XBLA, PSN and mobile 'soon'

Snoop Dogg's rhythm/fighting game Way of the Dogg is now available on XBLA for 800 MS Points, which is far less than the cost of changing your name and becoming a reggae artist - believe us, we looked into it. The Elite Beat Agents-esque game is also "coming soon" to PlayStation Network, iOS and Android, according to publisher 505 Games.

In other Snoop Dogg related news, we recently found a horrible bootleg hip-hop mixtape that we bought nine years ago at a thrift store for like $0.48. Early reports indicate that it is still completely awesome.

'Way of the Dogg' combines fighting, music games and Snoop

With the death of Fear & Respect, you might think you've missed your chance to play a game starring Snoop Dogg. Technically, that's true, as 505's new game Way of the Dogg stars Snoop Lion. Even though it's "Way of the Dogg." We know.

The game is a rhythm-action brawler in which you match beats to Snoop Dogg's music in order to beat up enemies, with each level designed around a different Snoop track. It's built, according to Ciaran Walsh, director of developer Echo Peak, "around [Snoop's] music and love of '70s Kung Fu and Blaxploitation movies."

Way of the Dogg will be out later this year on XBLA, PSN, and mobile platforms.

Here's the song Snoop Dogg made for Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Remember that time Snoop Dogg became a background element in Tekken Tag Tournament 2? Namco confirmed it for us today by releasing a video of the song Snoop made for his stage, called "Knocc 'em Down." Watching this video, we now truly believe this event happened, and wasn't some kind of insane mass hallucination brought on by the pressure and exhaustion of E3.

Yes, "Knocc." We don't know. That's ... among the things we don't know about. Like why a fistfight breaks out over Tekken.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 receiving Snoop Dogg stage [Update: Now with trailer!]

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will receive a new stage featuring the Doggfather of Hip-hop himself, Snoop Dogg, Namco Bandai just announced during a press conference at E3. Players who pre-order the game will receive "early access" to the level, which features Snoop upon a massive throne, surrounded by, uhm, hip-hop females.

A video for a new Tekken-themed Snoop Dogg song called "Knock 'em Down" was also debuted, wherein Snoop's Tekken Tag Tournament 2 house party was disrupted by women stripping after lost rounds, as well as choreographed kung-fu fights between Tekken-playing party goers.

Update: While it may not be the music video we saw during the event, both Snoop's new song and his stage can be seen in the trailer above.

Rumor: Snoop Dogg tracks coming to Rock Band Sept. 7 [update]

Rock Band Aide, the premier fan site for Harmonix's soon-to-be-expanded rhythm game, reportedly uncovered a thrilling pop-up advertisement while watching MTV sister station Palladia -- one which revealed a September 7 release date for the eight-song Snoop Dogg track pack announced for Rock Band a year and a half ago. A year and a half! Why, that was long before the December release of Mr. Dogg's chart-topping "Malice N Wonderland." How the times have changed!

We certainly hope the advertisement turns out to be accurate, as we're starting to feel a little impatient for the playable raps of the Doggfather. Then again, when the tracks were first announced, Snoop Dogg was still legally banned from entering the UK, a decision which was only overturned this past March. We would have felt terrible if this Dogg embargo had somehow kept our overseas friends from getting their hands on the tracks.

Update: The latest Major Nelson schedule update has confirmed that the eight-song Snoop Dogg pack will indeed arrive on XBLA on September 7. We'll let you know the second we find out what songs will be included.

Finally: Snoop Dogg is rolling onto Rock Band

With so much content in Rock Band D-L-C, it's kinda hard finding Snoop D-O-double-G. But according to a release from MTV, that's about to become a lot easier as the Doggfather brings his trademark flow to MTV's music game (alongside a few other ventures with the music giant).

We love Snoop Dogg's music as much as the three-time winners of the "Least Urban Blogging Team" award can, but is this really a good fit for Rock Band? Do you commenters have any suggestions for Snoop tracks that you'd want to rock to? And will you be singing the censored on-screen version or spitting the original, raunchy fire?
