It's unclear whether <em>flOw</em> is a port of the PSP version or the original PS3 version, but we feel safe in assuming that it's the former, considering the PlayStation Suite's track record with repurposing PSP titles.<br /><br />We can't imagine that playing a <em>Syphon Filter</em> game on a capacitive touch screen would be a rewarding experience, but <em>flOw</em> and <em>Pinball Heroes</em> sound like they'd translate well to the tactile interface of the Sony Tablet. We'll keep our ears to the ground for pricing and release information as it becomes available.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/23/daxter-more-psp-games-re-rated-for-playstation-certified-device/">Daxter, more PSP games re-rated for PlayStation Certified devices</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jan 2012 12:00:00 EST. Japanese users of Sony's curvy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sony-tablet-s">Tablet S</a> have received an <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&amp;tl=en&amp;js=n&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;layout=2&amp;eotf=1&amp;u=www.sony.jp%2Fsupport%2Ftablet%2Finfo2%2F20111215.html">update</a> (translated) that should come in handy for all those PlayStation games. The tablet now offers support for DualShock 3 controllers, though they must first be synced with a USB adapter cable -- sold separately.<br />
<br />
The dual-screened Tablet P, unfortunately, remains shackled to the screen-smudging tyranny of virtual buttons.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/20/sonys-tablet-s-adds-dualshock-3-support-in-japan/">Sony's Tablet S adds DualShock 3 support in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Dec 2011 12:35:00 EST. 	<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/10/vita1013.jpg" style="width: 530px; height: 250px; border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px;" /></div>
Sony has <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/111110_e.html">announced more details</a> about the beta for the PlayStation Suite. That's the development program (similar to Apple's App Store or Microsoft's Xbox Live Indie Games) which will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/07/sony-vita-will-supersede-mobile-gaming-with-playstation-suite/">allow third-party video game developers to produce games</a> that can be released, with Sony's approval, on to the PS Vita and other Sony and Android devices. The beta itself will be launched in "late November," with an SDK available to select developers then, and Sony will refine and clean up the program for a public release at a later unannounced date.<br />
<br />
At launch, Sony says the PS Suite content will be available on PlayStation certified devices only, including the PS Vita, and the Xperia line of mobile phones and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/sony-shares-price-and-details-on-playstation-certified-tablets-s/">Sony's upcoming "Sony Tablet" models S and P</a>. Sony specifically mentions that the devices listed are currently only available in the Japanese market, and while it's probably true that we'll eventually see PS Suite content on the North American Xperia Play smartphone (and the Sony tablets, if and when they're released here), that's not yet confirmed.<br />
<br />
It's still very early in the process -- it will likely be a while before we see any third-party content up and running (much less available to buy) on these devices.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/16/playstation-suite-beta-starting-for-japanese-devices-later-on/">PlayStation Suite beta starting (for Japanese devices) later on this month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Nov 2011 07:00:00 EST. Sony's PlayStation Suite cross-platform initiative continues its gradual, piecemeal rollout, with the arrival of the PlayStation Store for PlayStation Certified devices -- a category that, as of this moment, includes the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/sony-shares-price-and-details-on-playstation-certified-tablets-s/">Sony Tablet S</a> and nothing else. Eventually, it'll include the Sony Tablet P, other Android devices, and the PlayStation Vita (which will, of course, have access to the normal PlayStation Store as well).<br />
<br />
And before you get your hopes up about seeing what kind of new cross-platform experiences PlayStation Suite can provide, it's just PSOne Classics right now. Tablet S owners have a selection of ten PSOne games, for $5.99 each, including <em>Cool Boarders, Hot Shots Golf 2</em>, and, oh hey, <em>Jumping Flash!</em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/19/playstation-store-available-for-the-one-playstation-certified-ta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PlayStation Store available for the one PlayStation Certified tablet</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/19/playstation-store-available-for-the-one-playstation-certified-ta/">PlayStation Store available for the one PlayStation Certified tablet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Oct 2011 13:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/25/gameloft-optimizing-titles-for-sony-tablets/" target="_self"><img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/sonytablets.jpg" style="width: 530px; height: 278px; " /></a></div>
Competition is healthy for a free-market economy, especially in the consumer electronics industry, and when a product quits being "the" product and becomes "a" product among many, it is ultimately the buyer who wins. At the moment, no consumer product is more the product than Apple's iPad, so much so that "iPad" is slowly becoming synonymous with "tablet," much in the way "iPod" became a synonym for "MP3 player."<br />
<br />
Countless Android tablets have failed to change the iPad's status from "the" thing to "a" thing, and while the majority of them suffer from a deadly combination of cheap construction and high prices, even incredibly well designed examples have failed to compete the wealth of tablet-optimized games available on the App Store.<br />
<br />
In an effort to circumvent this ecosystem-wide content drought, Sony has struck a deal with one of iOS' most prominent developers: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Gameloft">Gameloft</a>. The French development studio plans to release 5 titles for Sony's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/sony-shares-price-and-details-on-playstation-certified-tablets-s/">Tablet P and Tablet S devices</a>: <em>Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD</em>, <em>NOVA 2: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance HD</em>, <em>Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD</em>, <em>Real Soccer 2011 HD</em> and <em>Green Farm HD</em>.<br />
<br />
No word on pricing or availability, however Gameloft says that each game has been "optimized for, and will be directly accessible on Sony's upcoming tablets." The press release makes no mention of the Android Marketplace, however it also doesn't explicitly name the titles as Sony exclusives. Even so, people <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/02/gameloft-sales-up-15-in-first-half-of-2011/">love them</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/17/gameloft-surpasses-200-million-downloads-on-the-app-store/">some Gameloft games</a>, and tablet-optimized versions will only help intensify the competitive climate, regardless of whose tablets actually receive the titles. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/25/gameloft-optimizing-titles-for-sony-tablets/">Gameloft optimizing titles for Sony tablets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 25 Sep 2011 14:30:00 EST. Sony has confirmed prices and dates <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/26/sony-reveals-two-playstation-suite-compatible-android-tablets/">for its two PlayStation certified tablet computers</a>, both coming out later this fall. The Tablet S is the more traditional tablet, with one screen and 16 or 32GB of storage, and will be out in September starting at $499. But the Tablet P is the more interesting option, offering two 5.5" display screens hinged together. Both tablets will use the Nvidia Tegra 2 chip architecture, sport dual cameras, and run Android-based software.<br />
<br />
They'll also be fully compatible with Sony's services, including Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited, and they'll both play games from the Android Marketplace as well as run PSOne titles released for PlayStation-certified hardware. Both will come standard with <em>Pinball Heroes</em> and <em>Crash Bandicoot</em> ready to go, though the P will put controls on the bottom screen, leaving gameplay up on top.<br />
<br />
The Tablet P will hit European shelves in November - North American details haven't been announced just yet. You can get a closer look at both devices in the gallery below and head over to Engadget for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/31/sony-tablet-s-preview/">hands-on impressions</a> of the Tablet S.<br />

Two more PlayStation Suite-compatible devices are joining the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xperia-play">Xperia Play</a> in Sony's product lineup. Last night, Sony officially unveiled the S1 and S2 tablets, both running Android 3.0, and both pretty weird-looking as tablets go.<br />
<br />
The S1 is the tablet whose <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/16/report-sony-s1-tablet-is-playstation-certified-features-qrio/">unconvential design</a> was revealed early by Engadget. It has a back panel that tapers downward, which is supposed to make it more comfortable, and a 9.4-inch screen. The S2 is the DS of tablets, with two 5.5" screens in a clamshell case, allowing one screen to be used as a soft keyboard.<br />
<br />
Both tablets will feature <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/27/playstation-suite/">PlayStation Suite</a>, so users will be able to play selected PSOne games on the devices, albeit with virtual controls. Both Sony Tablets (in a rare moment of sensible naming convention, "Sony Tablet" is the name of the line) will be out this fall globally. Check out a brief video after the break -- there's a little Crash Bandicoot in it for you.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-s1-and-s2-tablets/">Sony S1 and S2 tablets</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-s1-and-s2-tablets/#4088478"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/sonytablet42601_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-s1-and-s2-tablets/#4088480"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/sonytablet42602_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-s1-and-s2-tablets/#4088481"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/sonytablet42603_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-s1-and-s2-tablets/#4088482"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/sonytablet42604_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-s1-and-s2-tablets/#4088483"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/sonytablet42605_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/26/sony-reveals-two-playstation-suite-compatible-android-tablets/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony reveals two PlayStation Suite-compatible Android tablets</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/26/sony-reveals-two-playstation-suite-compatible-android-tablets/">Sony reveals two PlayStation Suite-compatible Android tablets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Apr 2011 09:36:00 EST.
