The Android OS version of Street Fighter IV we originally caught wind of back in September is now Street Fighter IV HD. As per the original announcement, the game will initially be exclusive to the LG Spectrum, which launches on Verizon January 19.

After LG's limited exclusivity blackout expires, however, Street Fighter IV HD will hit the US Android Marketplace in May for $12.99. A Wifi-enabled VS. mode allows for local multiplayer, although it's unclear whether wireless VS. will require two of the same handsets. Also no word yet on system requirements for non-LG devices, although since the Spectrum is launching with Gingerbread and not Ice-Cream Sandwich, any dual-core Android device seems like a good bet.
Street Fighter IV HD coming to Android Marketplace in May originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 11 Jan 2012 18:00:00 EST. Capcom's cinematics department must be working on permanent mandatory overtime, as yet another character trailer for Street Fighter X Tekken has been revealed by Famitsu. Mostly concerned with Street Fighter 4's Rufus, the latest trailer (above) also corroborates previous teasers which hinted at everyone's favorite Underoos spokesman, Zangief. Marshall Law also makes an appearance, albeit in a more gaseous form.

We figure you'd have to be pretty damn sloshed to mistake Tekken's portly prodigy Bob Richards for Street Fighter's hardbodied heart-throb Ken Masters, but they are both blonde Americans, and we're willing to accept virtually any contrived excuse that allows Capcom characters to battle their direct Namco counterparts.
Street Fighter X Tekken bar brawl teases Rufus, Marshall Law, Zangief originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 12 Sep 2011 18:01:00 EST. The Street Fighter series has a bit of a bad reputation for its iterative, somewhat convoluted and seemingly redundant naming scheme. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, for instance, may sound bombastic and even a bit pretentious, but to the initiated, each word carries a specific and meaningful weight. The fighting game world has its own vernacular, and if you're not fluent we recommend grabbing a translator, because we're about to go native:

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition's upcoming balance patch, Ver. 2012, has been painstaking detailed over at Capcom Unity ahead of the update's field trial. Minor tweaks and adjustments are in store for every character across the board, however Gouken, Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, Fei Long and Hakan have been changed fairly dramatically in order to address global balance issues. Capcom says their focus is on "buffing up weaker characters, rather than nerfing existing ones," but a quick glance at Yun and Yang's drastically altered figures suggests otherwise, not that we're complaining.

All the nitty gritty details are after the break for your viewing pleasure, but we're mainly focused on Dan's awesome buffs, which make him the "strongest version of Dan ever in a Street Fighter," according to Capcom Unity. Just you wait, you won't be able to swing a dead cat without hitting a Dan at next year's EVO. Activision isn't the only company that dropped financial facts on us today -- accessory maker Mad Catz also held a conference call to do some fiscal reporting, and the outlook wasn't so good over there. Q2 2010's net sales were reported as $19.9 million, which is down 11 percent from the same period last year. Mad Catz blamed the fall on a lack of Street Fighter 4 accessory sales, but said the rest of the year should be fine, with its official Rock Band 3's accessories plus an assortment of stands, cases, chargers and the like due out for Move and Kinect as well.

Elsewhere in the report, Mad Catz notes that North American sales were the biggest loss, while sales in Europe and other countries rose. And while the Xbox 360 and Wii accessory sales held fairly steady, the PlayStation 3 saw a loss of about five points from 24 percent to 19. Audio products saw a big jump, which Mad Catz says is because of the recent Tritton Technologies acquisition.
Mad Catz sales down 11 percent in Q2, no thanks to Street Fighter 4 originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 06 Aug 2010 06:00:00 EST. We thought we'd take the opportunity to compare the graphics in this handheld version to the existing Street Fighter IV on iPhone.

However, there's not much of a comparison. The iPhone Street Fighter uses pre-rendered 2D sprites based on the console/arcade game's 3D models, for a look reminiscent of Killer Instinct. The 3DS game, on the other hand, appears to use lower-detail versions of the actual 3D models, judging by the dynamic camera angles. That's why you get to see the extreme close-up of Ken's goofy punch face up there.

Of course, it's worth noting that these are early screenshots, and the final game may come out looking different. Given the relatively low texture detail, though, this looks like something that could be possible on a handheld system. Compare the two games yourself in our galleries.
In honor of Comic-Con (for some reason), Capcom has temporarily marked down the iPhone version of Phoenix Wright, along with several other iPhone and even iPad games. We suggest you take that! ... opportunity and pick up Phoenix Wright for just $2.99.

Other highlights include the iPad and iPhone versions of Resident Evil 4 for $2.99 each, Street Fighter 4 for $6.99 and Dark Void Zero for just .99. Mega Man 2 is also just .99, if you want to hate your iPhone. See the full list of discounted games after the break.

Capcom notes that Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil Degeneration, Resident Evil 4 and Phoenix Wright will go back to regular price after July 25, but offers no expiration date for the other sales.

Strum up the awkward and hammer down the idea of using an actual guitar as a Street Fighter IV controller. OpenChord.org produces an open source guitar controller meant for use in games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but like a silent film actor making the switch to talkies, its use for a fighting game seems misplaced.

We're most certainly fans of peripherals being used in new and nerdy ways. Heck, we applaud the fancy footwork used by Nick Hagman in his DDR pad challenges. But this OpenChord thing for fighting games just seems unwieldy. Check out the video after the break.
We're happy to report that Joey Ansah, Owen Trevor and Streetlight Films have figured out the secret formula for making a good Street Fighter movie: make it really short. There's no time for terrible dialogue, shoehorned character cameos or questionable characterization in this three-minute film. There's just time for one beautifully shot fight sequence between Ryu and Ken ... which makes sense for a movie based on a fighting game.
Continue reading Street Fighter Legacy is the best three minutes of Street Fighter film ever

Street Fighter Legacy is the best three minutes of Street Fighter film ever originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 07 May 2010 01:27:00 EST. Or the second. Or the third.

We learned this very quickly when trying out the game at Capcom's Fight Club event during GDC. Granted, there is a simplified input configuration -- which we discovered after this video was shot -- but longtime Street Fighter fans could get a tad miffed by all the whiffs.
Should you make the $10 investment for SFIV, on your phone, you'll probably want to spend some time in the game's expansive "Dojo" training mode before hitting the world circuit.
Video: The elusive iPhone Shoryuken originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 10 Mar 2010 10:30:00 EST. Mad Catz's Street Fighter IV Tournament FightSticks are currently priced to move at sonic boom speeds on Amazon at $99 for Xbox 360. Regularly priced at $150, there was a serious shortage of the peripheral last year, but now these baby Blankas are looking for a home.

For those with a little patience, the Super Street Fighter IV Tournament FightSticks are coming in April, but are priced at $150 like the original.
Mad Catz has announced that it will be bringing a special limited edition of its Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition Fightsticks to the Penny Arcade Expo. And when we say limited, we mean it: Only 1,000 sticks will be made available -- 650 for Xbox and 350 for PS3 -- and the majority of them will be available exclusively from the Capcom booth at PAX. For those unable to attend, a "very limited stock" will be available at the Capcom and GameShark online stores.

The "Femme Fatale" joystick, as you can see above, is decked out with the ladies of Street Fighter IV, including Sakura, Crimson Viper, Chun-Li, Cammy and Rose. It's also packs a lilac color scheme, which seems appropriate given the bumps and bruises players will be doling out with it (virtual bumps and bruises, of course). The sticks will go on sale this Friday, September 4, on a first-come-first-serve basis, limited to two per customer.

If you want one, you'd best be quick.
It must be quite an annoying wait for you PC gamers, knowing that your console brethren are already finding enjoyment in Street Fighter IV. There must be something we can do to make this interim more bearable? Oh, we know! We have just the thing; we've got the specs, thanks to Capcom.

Wouldn't you just love to know if your PC can handle all of Bison's psycho power? Chances are, it can. Check after the break for the minimum requirements and see if your rig stacks up.
Continue reading Yatta! Just a quick reminder that free Street Fighter IV DLC, called the Power Up Pack, is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. The pack comes with the new Championship Mode, which adds new tournament features and double-blind character selection. The pack also includes a new Replay Mode, which allows players on Xbox Live to download replays of matches, which even include the controller inputs used by each character.

The download clocks in at 16MB and, once again, it's free. <strike>Strangely, it appears the DLC is not available on PSN just yet. We'll be sure to let you know when it shows up.</strike>

Update: We apologize for the error, as the DLC has been available for the PlayStation 3 version as an update for a few days now.
PSA: Free Street Fighter IV 'Power Up Pack' now available originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 26 Apr 2009 19:30:00 EST. If the prospect of not having to fork over extra Zenny for Street Fighter IV's upcoming Championship mode isn't enough to put the sonic in your boom, Capcom has released additional details behind the impending DLC's April 24 release.

In addition to previously revealed features, Capcom notes that tournaments will be seeded randomly, based on player skill, with single elimination bouts and double-blind character selection helping to keep fights as fair as possible. In addition, Capcom promises that players who disconnect at the first sign of trouble will be knocked down in their tournament rank. Even better, quitters will have their disconnect percentage put on display for all to mock when the free download hyper uppercuts the PS3 and Xbox 360 later this month.
Continue reading Free Street Fighter IV 'Championship' DLC detailed

Free Street Fighter IV 'Championship' DLC detailed originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 17 Apr 2009 10:35:00 EST. The rough-and-tumble Street Fighters enjoying their youth is likely the most adorable thing we'll see all week. Kei Acedera, an illustrator and art director at Imaginism, has just such a drawing in her portfolio on the company's website. If you click the image above, you'll be treated to the full work, which also includes the rest of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo cast cheering in the background (Dhalsim's long arms were a nice touch).

Acedera's work includes illustrating books for Harper Collins and design work for Disney and Sony. Her bio also states she makes t-shirts for her guinea pig, Tobi. We wonder if she puts little pants on Tobi and dyes him so he looks like the little Blanka in the picture ...

[Via ThreeSpeech]
Cutest thing you'll see today: Street Fighter kids originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 11:00:00 EST. There are those who like fighting games. Then there are others whose passion for the genre surpasses mainstream zeal to set up shack somewhere in the middle of crazy town. From the latter comes a chart sizing up the fighters in the console flavor of Street Fighter IV, highlighting the probable outcome when any two brawlers go toe-to-toe.

Compiled by Japanese enthusiasts, the chart breaks down out of ten bouts how many times on average a fighter will come out on top against a given opponent. For example, when Blanka enters the ring and sinks his teeth into Zangief, the burly wrestler only wins 3 out of 10 matches. However, according to the chart it's Sagat that trumps all others, with Rose at the bottom likely wondering if she should look into a different line of work.
Continue reading Street Fighter IV rankings separate Hadouken from Gadouken

Street Fighter IV rankings separate Hadouken from Gadouken originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 08:30:00 EST. Own a copy of Street Fighter IV? You can totally take down a Capcom representative today. Log on to the PlayStation Network today at 6PM EST (3PM PST) for your chance to play. Look for PSN ID: Snow_Infernus. This Capcom n00b won't have his arcade stick -- just his DualShock 3 -- so he's asking for you to all go easy on him.

You won't do that, right?
Capcom challenges PS3 owners to Street Fighter IV today originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 27 Feb 2009 16:30:00 EST. Capcom has released the "Femme Fatale," a set of alternate costumes for the ladies of Street Fighter IV. The DLC is the second in the alternative wardrobe series, following the "Brawler Pack," and will set fashionistas back 320 ($4) on XBLM, and $3.99 on the PS Store.

Having watched the first two minutes of Capcom's video showcasing the outfits, only one thought comes to mind: Moar liek booty pack, lolz. Well, this is awkward. David Sirlin, a major designer behind Super Street Fighter II HD Remix (and the awesome Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix) is calling out Street Fighter IV. More specifically, he's calling out reviewers who call the game accessible to casual gamers. Sirlin points out a number of complicated commands used in the game as well as a host of very technical maneuvers that only dedicated Street Fighter players can pull off.

"Qcf x 2 +PPP all the time, extra button presses to throw, extra button presses to roman cancel, and many, many extremely difficult link combos work in concert to create that impenetrable wall of execution between you and the actual game," writes Sirlin. Throughout the lengthy piece, Sirlin notes that several things were added to Street Fighter IV that were unnecessary and only serve to make the game more complex. The end result, according to Sirlin: Playing the game becomes more about mastering esoteric techniques than focusing on strategy. To be fair, Sirlin does say that there's no reason the game has to cater to a casual audience, but he finds it puzzling that so many reviews claim that it does.

What do you think? The number of stitches on a baseball. The number of prayer beads strung together to form a mala. The number of minutes in which Desmond had to press that damn button again and again. And, the new Guinness World Record for consecutive Street Figther IV wins. What do these seemingly unrelated phenomena have in common? The Number 108 ...

<dramatic music> DUN DUN DUHHNNN </dramatic music>

The UK's Zak Bennett has sealed his inseparable fate to this sacred number by setting the SFIV record at a London launch event last Friday, now confirms Guinness World Records. Initially, Bennett was defeated after only 28 consecutive wins, but even that was enough to break the previous record -- set at a paltry 10 wins. Still, something inspired him to try again. In his second attempt, Bennett would not be defeated for 108 consecutive matches. (Guinness did not confirm, however, just what caliber of opponents Bennett faced during his immaculate run.) Quick! Street Fighter IV has come out of its corner with a Hundred Hand Slap, as worldwide shipments of the title have reached two million units. Publisher Capcom did not provide any regional information to IGN about where all those little boxes went, but we're sure the company used a few to replenish the stock in Japan, following reports that the game sold out during its launch week.

The good news is that retailers purchased a couple million copies and now Capcom doesn't have SF IV just sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Are two million (and more) of you ready to buy our favorite fighting game this generation?
Street Fighter IV ships two million units worldwide originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 23 Feb 2009 09:40:00 EST. Trouble telling your Tiger Knee from a Sonic Boom? Now UK newspaper The Guardian, along with Capcom's Anil Das-Gupta have stepped up with some friendly advice to help transform your hadou-can't into a Hadouken.

For starters, beginners are advised to turn a blind eye to the bulk of the Street Fighter IV's roster of brawlers, instead sticking with the game's vanilla duo of Ken and Ryu as they "both offer a full range of moves and styles while the other fighters merely exaggerate specific elements." Anil also notes that despite their similarities, there are even some fundamental differences between the pair, explaining that "Ryu has always been better at ranged attacks while Ken is better up close."

Funny, we always thought that Ryu was the smarter one while Ken was better with the ladies. Anyway, take a read, and hopefully some of these pointers can help sharpen your street fighting know-how. Anything to keep from the unsightly embarrassment that comes from mistaking a friendly Yoga Noogie for a crispy Yoga Flame.
The Guardian: Ken, Ryu great for SF IV beginners originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 21 Feb 2009 16:00:00 EST. Street Fighter IV Producer Yoshinori Ono has teased the inclusion of Dee Jay and T. Hawk in the fighter to Famitsu, reports IGN. Ono apparently stated that incomplete 3D models were created of the characters, and the staff even planned out T. Hawk's combat, but no explanation was given for why the pair didn't make the four-quel. The characters are the only two fighters from Super Street Fighter II Turbo missing in SF IV.

Ono expressed that if there's enough support from the fans, the characters will be added at a later date. It's not clear if that would be DLC for the current game, or if they'd be added in a later iteration, like, Super Alpha Street Fighter IV Turbo Remix Deluxe.
Street Fighter IV producer teases future inclusion of Dee Jay, T. Everything old is new again, as Street Fighter IV attempts to reinvigorate the fighter genre. The title may not be friendly to newcomers, but do the Street Fighter faithful really care? Just give them a worthy adversary, a dark room, a proper controller, <strike>a quarter</strike> and they'll be as contented as Chun Li's Thighmaster.

Giant Bomb (100/100): "My only real complaint about Street Fighter IV is that the trial mode represents a missed opportunity to help brand-new players get into the game, and perhaps the genre, as well. I only know what I know about Street Fighter because I've been playing and watching it since the early 1990s. Will it take 20 years for new players to acquire the same bits of knowledge that I have? The good news is that Street Fighter IV is a game so great that playing it for that long doesn't immediately sound out of the question."

IGN UK (95/100): "Regardless, Street Fighter IV is no less than the new standard for beat-'em-ups. It's a triumphant return for the series after an eight year hiatus and is a seamless blend of the old and new, at once accessible to lapsed pugilists while being nuanced enough for the dedicated core to wallow in its depths. What's more, Street Fighter IV takes an aging template and makes it fresh once more, offering a revival in every sense of the word."

Game Informer (93/100): "A distillation of everything the genre does right. It delivers the intensity of competition and the thrill of victory, all through elegant techniques that are easy to learn and difficult to master. Street Fighter IV is more than mere nostalgia - it's the best thing to happen to fighting games in years." [Mar 2009, p.82]

GameTrailers (92/100): "Fighting games have long been out of the spotlight, and Street Fighter IV basically carries the future of the entire genre. It refuses to make itself accessible, doling out tough love in place of true tutorials or simplified control schemes, but by proving to be deep and fundamentally enjoyable, the series has once again proven itself worthy of attention."

Onion AV Club (80/100) "Once fans have relived their virtual-martial-arts glory days; once they've defeated Seth, the poorly named final boss; once the patina of nostalgia has worn off, most will wonder whether they needed to spend $60 on a game they already own ... except for Street Fighter completionists, Street Fighter IV merits, at best, an afternoon rental.

Seth Killian is the Community Manager at Capcom, which means he spends his days playing games and interacting with fans. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it. Seth has had his hands full lately with the Street Fighter IV launch and the upcoming release of Resident Evil 5 -- and will hopefully be kept even busier if Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is finally brought to the US. Just in time for the impending release of Street Fighter IV, owners of the standard MadCatz FightStick are reporting several problems with the peripheral. Reported on the Shoryuken.com forums (which seem to be overloaded as of press time), the various problems include the joystick itself sticking in certain positions and sticky buttons.

Other users are reporting that the controller may fail to register certain directions on the stick or certain button presses, with at least one user reporting that the stick stopped registering all inputs entirely. Certain users have attributed the stuck joystick inputs to a metal washer that actually grinds away at the inner workings of the stick while in use.

In a statement to Joystiq, Mad Catz Global PR & Communications Manager, Alex Verrey, said, "There are no major problems with the Street Fighter range of products. Customers can buy with complete confidence."

"As with all complex precision-engineered products, there is always a chance that a tiny percentage of product may exhibit a fault," said Verrey, adding, "This is TOTALLY normal and not at all unexpected. Usually this is due to circumstances beyond our control but this does NOT mean that there is any kind of inherent fault with the design or manufacture of the product." Verrey advises all customers who have encountered a problem to contact Mad Catz directly for a repair (visit this link for Mad Catz warranty information).

For those that already have a standard FightStick, have you experienced similar problems?
Owners report Mad Catz SFIV FightStick defects originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 16 Feb 2009 17:10:00 EST. Those who are in the market for a new controller -- or are just feeling an overwhelming surge of Street Fighter IV excitement that only spending money can satisfy -- should hit up the Capcom Store. Why? Because everything is currently 10% off retail.

Admittedly, you'll have to do some work to get the 10% off, but the process is as easy as: 1) Add an item to your cart. 2) Exit the shopping cart screen by clicking towards the storefront. 3) A pop-up appears with a 10% off offer. Just make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off.

Once the coupon code is applied, you can grab any flavor of the new SFIV FightPads or even a too-cool T-Shirt. Sadly, the highly coveted FightSticks are sold out. Note too that you'll also have to account for shipping charges.

[Via Cheap Ass Gamer]
10% off Street Fighter IV FightPads and entire Capcom Store order originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 28 Jan 2009 16:30:00 EST. Okay, okay. We know that Street Fighter has always had a plot. We don't want any angry otaku in here. But seriously, for a game about efficiently beating the snot out of people, the plot of Street Fighter IV is heavy. The latest trailer for the game highlights the story and gives a little background as to why everyone keeps on fighting in the street. Whether or not you spend any time reflecting on it whilst pounding your opponent, well, that's up to you.

We've embedded the trailer after the break. Here's a fun exercise. Close your eyes, listen to the trailer and imagine a Street Fighter movie that's actually good. At the rate things are going, it's the closest you're going to get.
Continue reading New Street Fighter IV feature revealed: A plot

New Street Fighter IV feature revealed: A plot originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 18:30:00 EST. You see, we were watching the new Street Fighter IV trailer and, beautiful though it may be, we had to mute it halfway through. The video, which highlights each of the game's characters, has some pretty cornball material -- we're talking laughing at, not laughing with.

... Then again, once we get our hands on the game, we'll probably be too enthralled to notice. SFIV is set to punch you in the face on February 17.
New Street Fighter IV trailer looks awesome, sounds not awesome originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 17:28:00 EST. There's something simultaneously marvelous and terrifying about Ultra moves in Street Fighter IV. It's a feeling that's been with the series for a long time now, actually. You see, it's marvelous for the person utilizing the Ultra move, but terrifying for the one on the receiving end (at least if he's not prepared for it). Think about it. What isn't marvelous / terrifying about seeing that life bar instantly drop by half (or more)? Obviously understanding our desire / fear to see tons of the Ultra moves performed in one video, Gametrailers has created a montage of them. It's like they can read minds over there! Now you can check out most of the Ultra moves -- from a safe distance -- without putting your life bar on the line. Check out the video after the break.
Continue reading Video: The Ultra moves of Street Fighter IV

Video: The Ultra moves of Street Fighter IV originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 18:30:00 EST. Speaking with Eurogamer earlier today, peripheral manufacturer Mad Catz revealed a struggle to meet UK demand for the Street Fighter IV FightStick: Tournament Edition (pictured). Considering the UK is "over there" and we're, well, over here, we wanted to see the situation report for North America.

We spoke with the company's PR head, Alex Verrey, who was surprisingly candid about the situation. The issue is that the initial production run of the $150 Tournament stick consisted of 3,000 units. The company's pre-order count is now "many, many, times that amount," which Verrey admits caught the manufacturer by surprise. The sticks are currently going back into production, but it will take a little time for turnaround. Naturally, more units were allotted for North America than Europe, but he couldn't get into numbers. Although many who order now may not get the stick day and date with SF IV's release, we were informed the company intends to make sure that pre-order demand is met.

As for the other official Street Fighter IV controllers, Verrey believes that there should be adequate supply. Another topic we discussed at length was the quality of Mad Catz products, and he asked that consumers don't think of this Mad Catz as the same one they remember. He emphasized the new Mad Catz has evolved and is focusing more on quality. He reiterated that its wares come with a two-year warranty and they are committed to better products. We've placed pricing details for the SF IV controllers after the break.

Gallery: Mad Catz Street Fighter IV controllers

Continue reading Mad Catz talks supply, demand issues of SFIV FightStick

Mad Catz talks supply, demand issues of SFIV FightStick originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 16:57:00 EST. Who's better at Street Fighter? Well, from a very limited sample of people that could make it to Capcom's brawl at CES in Las Vegas this year, we can conclude that PlayStation fans are the Street Fighting champs. Team PlayStation was represented by Joe C., who uppercutted Major Nelson's representative, Josh, to victory. Professor PlayStation (Jeff Rubenstein) awarded him a Star Wars Battlefront PSP and a chance to get obliterated by Street Fighter legend Justin Wong.

Kudos to all that participated. As PS3 fans, we have to thank Joe for representing PlayStation and showing Xbox gamers all over the world that we're a force to be reckoned with. At least in Street Fighter.
Team PlayStation wins the Street Fighter challenge originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 17:30:00 EST. Update: Looks like the deal is dead. Price is back to $60.

Wow, it's only a few weeks away until Street Fighter IV hits store shelves. If you want an early pre-order deal, this offer from Circuit City looks like a champ. Circuit City is selling the PS3 version of the game for $50, and will throw in a free $10 gift card. (The 360 version, strangely, costs the regular $60 retail price.)

It's a terrific deal, but there is one caveat: Circuit City may go out of business before the game comes out. Mad Catz has announced a new line of controllers and accessories designed especially with Street Fighter fans in mind. First up, the company has the FightPad, which features an arcade style six button layout and (blessedly) a floating eight-way D-pad. For more serious fighting fanatics, there is the FightStick an arcade style joystick with an eight button layout. For really serious fighting fans, there's the FightStick Tournament, which features authentic Sanwa parts. In fact, it uses the same parts found in actual Street Fighter IV arcade cabinets. As if that weren't enough, the design of the FightStick Tournament is being overseen by SFIV producer Yoshinori Ono himself. Also on offer will be a Street Fighter IV faceplate, wall scroll, and (ahem) Console Skinz.

All the Street Fighter IV Mad Catz products are scheduled to ship alongside the release of the game in February. No prices have been announced yet, which means we can still dream that the FightStick Tournament will be offered for the low, low price of free. Find a gallery of the new controllers below.

Looking for a quick guide? The fine folks at Joystiq have compiled a gallery introducing (and in a lot of cases reintroducing) gamers to the entire ragtag list of world fighters. We've got good news and bad news. The good news is that the collector's edition of Street Fighter IV (announced last week) is headed to the United States after all. The collector's edition -- with the hefty price of $79.99 -- is now listed on GameStop.com. The bad news: The 360 and PS3 versions of the CE are getting different goodies. While both versions will include a soundtrack CD, strategy guide, costume DLC and a bonus disc with the Street Fighter anime movie, each will include a different Street Fighter figurine. Xbox 360 collector's edition buyers will get a Crimson Viper figurine, while PS3 buyers get a Ryu figurine. Call us suckers for nostalgia, but we'd rather have Ryu. At least we can pretend to be Ryu though, as GameStop is offering a free Ryu headband for pre-ordering either version.
Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition headed to US originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 09 Dec 2008 14:30:00 EST.
Today, Capcom revealed a big box of collectible Street Fighter fun, the Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition. According to the press release, the Collector's Edition will be made available in Europe and Australia (no U.S. release seems suspect) and will include the game, a bonus disc featuring an HD quality anime movie and game trailers, a mini-strategy guide, exclusive downloadable content and two mini figures of Ryu and newcomer Crimson Viper. Even cooler is that all the bonus content comes housed in a diorama-like scene from the classic Street Fighter. RYU-KICK!
