Super Smash Bros. Brawl release date: December 3rd
Managing to get it just under the holiday wire, especially for you last-minute shoppers, Nintendo announced today that they are releasing the much anticipated (by us at Joystiq especially) Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii on December 3rd. If you've got a Wii fan or a Wii of your that needs some Smash lovin', set your calendars accordingly.
Given the proximity to the end of the year and Chrismakwanzika, pre-ordering this might not be a bad idea if you need to assure that it'll make it into your hot little hands. We're looking forward to some face-off battles here in the office.

Conjecture Countdown: 6 days to go

Rumor: It's not just Super Smash Bros. Brawl -- none of the Nintendo-developed or published games will be playable, except for a 30 second demo of Wii Music.
Wii Warm Up: SSBB Countdown to end in two hours?
According to this thread about a Nintendo Power from the future, the Super Smash Bros. Brawl countdown will wind down two hours after this very post is published, so we figured that was just enough time to get our last minute speculation in under the wire. Major speculation seems to center around some pretty basic new content (images and wallpapers) or an all new day-by-day blog by Masahiro Sakurai. At this point, we really have to say that anything could happen when this countdown wraps up. What's your take?[Thanks, hvnlysoldr!]
Friday Video: This one's for all the brawlers

Since this week featured a heavy dose of awesome in the way of an epic battle between Samus and Halo's Master Chief (sort of ...), we couldn't help but think about other possible matchups. Like ... Samus versus Solid Snake.* Where could we possibly see that?
Oh, right. We will see that -- when Super Smash Bros. Brawl hits. Until then, we'll have to settle for yet another SSBB video. You guys keep making 'em, and we'll keep showing them.
*Actually, that would be a pretty simple fight ... after all, it only takes a crab to punk Snake down.
Wii Warm Up: Sadness, delays, and concerns
We are definitely sad about Sadness. That was really something we had high hopes for, as the gameplay sounded truly revolutionary, and thus perfect for the New Smash Bros. trailer, in English
Super Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai has updated the official game site, adding a polished version of the Nintendo Word 2006 trailer, which debuted earlier this month. Aside from crisper audio and visuals, the new version includes English text (not that this provides new information).Sakurai also dropped some more "screen shots" onto the site -- as always, don't expect the quality of these images to reflect that of the actual game. As for a release date, Sakurai vaguely writes, "it will be a little while longer before you can play it!"

Kojima to design Snake's Smash Bros. Brawl stage
Sparked by remarks from a Nintendo Power contributor, reports indicate that Hideo Kojima will design Snake's stage for Wii's Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Nintendo Power's Chris Hoffman recently commented, "If you want to talk about something big, how about the news Hideo Kojima, Snake's creator, is designing Snake's level in Brawl? Snake's inclusion means we're not only getting one of the best characters in gaming, but one of the best developers as well."With Sakurai at the helm and Kojima lending, not just Snake, but his actual development talent, are we anticipating the ... Best. Smash Bros. Ever?
360 title in Famitsu's most wanted. Wha??
Several sites have been posting Famitsu's latest most wanted list. But wait! What's this? An Xbox 360 exclusive, Blue Dragon -- the RPG being developed by Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker studio -- is number 8. A prestigious spot indeed for a 360 title. Even more impressive, Blue Dragon tops the Japanese favorites like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This is just the sort of thing that Microsoft's new Japanese PR blog should be pimping, and pimping hard. Be warned, the read link points to a Nintendo fan site. Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with the 360 at all. So, just prepare yourselves for that.
Ubisoft character could be drafted for Smash Bros. Brawl
GoNintendo.com has picked up a new rumor that has fans speculating about an Ubisoft-branded addition to Wii's Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When developer Masahiro Sakurai unveiled SSBB at E3, he suggested that, besides the already confirmed Solid Snake, other third party characters would be a definite possibility. Now, you can add Ubisoft's Jade (Beyond Good & Evil), the Prince (of Persia), Rayman, and Sam Fisher to that list of 'possibilities.'Do you think third party newcomers will cramp SSBB's Nintendo-style?
