Toys R Us has decided that <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11958635&amp;pg=1"><em>all peripherals must go</em></a>, and in order to clear the shelves as quickly as possible, a ridiculous number of DJ Hero, Tony Hawk, and Guitar Hero bundles for all systems have been marked down to $9.99. If you've just got <em>too darn much</em> free space in your living room, make <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/20/peripheral-price-drop-madness-guitar-hero-dj-hero-and-tony-ha/#continued">the jump</a> for the full list of store-only mega-deals. We recommend getting a swift move on, however; even with these franchises functionally dead, we don't expect this stuff to hang around for long. <br />

How huge of a sale? Buy two, get one huge. On top of the prospect at getting a free game, there's also some deals specific to Wii owners.<br /><br />On Sunday and Monday, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys R Us</a> will offer 30% off Wii accessories. Now, this doesn't extend to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nunchuk">Nunchuks</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiimote">Wiimotes</a>, but it works for other accessories and ... Wii Points cards! 30% off some Wii Points means you can nab a stellar WiiWare title or two, like, say, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/having-trouble-getting-through-mega-man-9/"><em>Mega Man 9</em></a>. CheapAssGamer lights the way to one of the most glorious annual (semi-annual?) events starting this Sunday: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys "R" Us</a>' Buy 2 get 1 free sale. For thrifty shoppers who like their games new -- not gutted "new" -- it's the event of the year.<br /><br />Per standard ops., the rules work that you pick three games either online or in the store and get the least expensive one for free. <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/?f=437">CAG has a full FAQ</a> on the gritty details, with some slick ways of making the system work for you if you want a game coming out later this year. CAG also notes that Sunday and Monday there's a 30% off deal on Wii accessories. Wiimotes and nunchuks don't count, but Wii Point cards do. Happy shopping.<br /><br />[Thanks Tim]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/toys-r-us-b2g1-sale-begins-sunday/">Toys 'R' Us B2G1 sale begins Sunday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 10:45:00 EST. <em>Wii Fit</em> is helping <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/21/wii-fit-helps-drive-record-q2-for-gamestop/">all kinds of retailers</a> make money. In fact, the fitness bundle from Nintendo is <em>still</em> hard to find. Now, we hear that the package helped drive profits up for retailer Toys R Us. During Q2 of last year, the retailer had a loss of $42 million. This year, the company turned profits of $13 million.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/11/wii-fit-sales-bring-profits-in-q2-to-toys-r-us/">Wii Fit sales bring profits in Q2 for Toys R Us</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Sep 2008 20:15:00 EST. Well now, it looks like almost all retailers will have the Wii in stock this weekend, as following up on Circuit City's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/circuit-city-wants-all-of-your-money/">deal</a>" is Toys R Us with an ad of their own. You see, Toys R Us is advertising (see image above) that they'll also have the console in stock, alongside <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/characters-wed-like-to-see-in-mario-kart/768277/"><em>Mario Kart Wii</em></a>, which releases this Sunday. There is a catch with the Toys R Us deal, however.<br /><br />You'll have to put some legwork in, as securing yourself a console means you have to go down to your local Toys R Us and plunk down a $200 deposit. Once done, show up on Sunday with your receipt and you'll be one happy camper. But, hey, as annoying as it is to make two trips, it's far less annoying than having to buy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/circuit-city-wants-all-of-your-money/">a ridiculously overpriced bundle from Circuit City</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/toys-r-us-getting-big-wii-shipment-sunday/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/toys-r-us-to-have-wii-this-sunday/">Toys R Us to have Wii this Sunday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Apr 2008 14:15:00 EST. Pokemaniacs should take note: Toys R Us is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/25/get-the-pokemon-hook-up-from-toys-r-us-this-saturday/">once again</a> catering to the needs of Pokefanatics by offering you a chance to catch the uncatchable Darkrai Pokemon. The weekend of May 31 - June 1, participating Toys R Us stores will be providing inn keys to those who bring in their DS, along with a copy of <em>Pokemon Diamond</em> or <em>Pokemon Pearl</em>, which will provide them a shot at catching this bad <strike>boy</strike> <em>thing</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/20/toys-r-us-providing-more-pokemon-goodness-to-shoppers/">Toys R Us providing more Pokemon goodness to shoppers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 Apr 2008 14:00:00 EST. If that headline appeared nigh undecipherable to your uninitiated eyes, count yourself very, <em>very</em> lucky, and quickly move on to the next story. Those whose hearts and pokeballs perked up upon seeing that teasing title will be happy to know that <a href="http://www.pokemon.com/darkrai/">the heretofore uncatchable Darkrai</a>, of <em>Pokemon Diamond and Pearl</em> fame, will be made quite catchable come the weekend of May 31 - June 1, when <a href="http://pokemon.com/#news_/XML/news_251.xml">participating Toys R' Us stores will digitally distribute the inn key</a> required to reach <a href="http://serebii.net/pokedex-dp/491.shtml">said public enemy no. 491</a>.<br /><br />Though it's been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/26/pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-sell-1-million-in-5-days/">a year since the monster enslaving simulator was released</a>, we're sure that the retailer will find themselves slammed by DS-wielding trainers-in-training over the course of that weekend. We doubt that the avarice of many a poketrainer has been slaked by the current digital menagerie -- as they march onward into adorable battle, do they shout, "Gotta Catch All But One or Two of Them?" No, <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=hbu-a29Fdco">their kind is inclined to catch them all</a>, and then, in some terrifying cases,<em> their shiny counterparts</em>.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jenni.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/darkrai-distribution-events-coming-to-toys-r-us-may-31-june-1/">Darkrai distribution events coming to Toys R' Us May 31 - June 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Apr 2008 18:30:00 EST. Retailer Toys R Us knows this, and has dangled the carrot of reduced-price DS games at us with a "buy one, get $10 off" sale. Those of you hoping to expand your Wii games library should look to Toys R Us this week. The store (both brick and mortar<em> and </em><a href="http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?kw=roto1vgoffer08&amp;f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&amp;f=PAD%2FPlatform%2FNintendo+Wii&amp;fbc=1&amp;fbn=Platform%7CNintendo+Wii">online</a>) is offering a sale on Wii titles, which is just another excuse for us to give our wallets a beating. <br /><br />The catch, because there's <em>always</em> a catch, is that you have to buy two games to take advantage of the deal. Still, if you buy one game you'll get the second for $20 less, making it a pretty sweet promotion. <br /><br />The deal only goes through Saturday, so make sure to jump on it quickly if you're looking to buy some Wii games.<br /><br />[Thanks, Thomas!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/toys-r-us-offers-20-dollars-off-of-second-wii-game/">Toys R Us offers $20 dollars off of second Wii game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 16:00:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toysrus">Toys R Us</a> in Hong Kong has tons of import games available. That's the benefit of not having a Nintendo distributor in the region, apparently. And while this picture may present an importer's paradise, it should be noted that the retail chain doesn't have everything available. <br /><br />Still, we would be lying if we said we weren't jealous. All of our Toys R Us stores here only have clueless and apathetic employees.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/toys-r-us-is-an-importing-powerhouse-in-hong-kong-apparently/">Toys R Us is an importing powerhouse in Hong Kong, apparently</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Mar 2008 18:00:00 EST. An informant at a Canadian Toys R Us has also told us that the Xbox 360 Arcade has been reduced $20 (to $279.99) and the Elite has come down $50 (to $449.99 -- all prices are in Canadian dollars, eh?)<br /><br />Ironically enough, <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/subclass.asp?logon=&amp;langid=EN&amp;catid=23363">FutureShop</a>, where this morning's rumor first originated, has not lowered their web site prices as of press time. Perhaps they're waiting until Friday to unleash that <span style="font-style: italic;">Turok</span> Elite bundle on an unsuspecting public?<br /><br />Does this surprise move mean an American price drop is in the cards? Probably not -- much like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/08/talking-aboot-xbox-price-drops-canada-gets-100-off-eh/">previous Microsoft Canada price drop</a>, the adjustment seems designed to bring prices up North in line with the <a href="http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/graphs/currencies.html#us">weakening American dollar</a>.<br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong>Apologies for the inadvertent act of bad foreign relations. For those of you who might have steered clear of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/korea-two-guitar-heroes-enter-one-guitar-hero-leaves/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero III</span></a> because the price was just too high for you, take note: Toys R Us is now offering up the bundle for $69.99, which is $20 less than its normal price. With that extra coin, you could pick up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/13/thrustmaster-offers-up-wireless-classic-controller/">a classic controller</a> or just pocket the cash. Getting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/28/a-sign-of-guitars-to-come/">the wireless Les Paul</a> that comes bundled in for $20 less than everyone else would make us feel <span style="font-style: italic;">so special</span>, if you ask us.<br /><br />Head on past the break for a look at the ad for the price drop.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/toys-r-us-slashes-price-on-guitar-hero-iii-bundle/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us slashes price on Guitar Hero III bundle</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/toys-r-us-slashes-price-on-guitar-hero-iii-bundle/">Toys R Us slashes price on Guitar Hero III bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Feb 2008 13:30:00 EST. The Wii may have been Toys "R" Us' first video game console to appear on their "hot toy" list <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/27/toys-r-us-nods-the-wii/">last year</a>, but this year it goes <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2255956">straight to the cover</a> of their annual Big Toy Book. Not only did the Wii get the cover, but Nintendo products received a two-page spread inside. Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's video game products had to share a spread with each other.<br /><br />What does it mean? Well, the cynical part of us wants to say that Toys "R" Us is just pulling a giant bait and switch. Just because the Wii is on the cover -- brilliant marketing given the demographic they're targeting -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/14/the-wii-will-flow-this-holiday-says-reggie/">doesn't mean the stores will have any in stock</a>. Who knows, parents may walk in for a Wii and walk out with an Xbox 360, or maybe even a PS3? At least Toys "R" Us got them in the door.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=28375">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/30/wii-on-toys-r-us-big-toy-book-cover/">Wii on Toys 'R' Us' Big Toy Book cover</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Oct 2007 10:10:00 EST. That's because it's loaded with Mews. This cartridge was used in one of those Toys 'R' Us <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Pokemon/">Pok&eacute;mon</a> </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/25/get-the-pokemon-hook-up-from-toys-r-us-this-saturday/">events</a>, to distribute Mews to store visitors. We don't know exactly how rare something like this is, but there couldn't have been many such cartridges produced for a one-off event at a single retail chain.<br /><br />We wonder if there would be a noticeable change in the GTS once a bunch of "legit" Mews is unleashed into the trading community. Would the relative barter value of Mews adjust? Oh, man, why is <em>Pok&eacute;mon </em>economics suddenly so interesting? Considering that Toys R Us has given <em>Pokemon</em> fans <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/30/invade-your-toys-r-us-for-free-mew/">free critters</a> in the past, we can't say we're surprised that the store is planning on giving away a free Manaphy to anyone who's willing to tackle the gauntlet of downloading from the store's download station this Saturday. Not only that, but they'll also be offering up DS games at a reduced price, slashing $5 off every title up for grabs in the store.<br /><br />Anyone planning on downloading Manaphy, or do you already have this one in your cruel collection of kidnapped creatures?<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://touristtrapusa.blogspot.com/">Antwon</a>!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/25/get-the-pokemon-hook-up-from-toys-r-us-this-saturday/">Get the Pokemon hook-up from Toys R Us this Saturday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Sep 2007 11:30:00 EST. Those of you who might've been holding back on picking up that Classic Controller or extra Wiimote might want to pounce on Toys R Us' latest deal. For every accessory you buy, you get 50% of the purchase of a second accessory. Oh, and did we mention that it's valid on Wii Points cards and SD cards, as well? Toys R Us apparently took their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/22/toys-r-us-buy-2-games-get-1-free/">famous</a> "<a href="http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2255974&amp;siteID=FKSJxY2VJAk-dMJQCoKwomn2kaCzknyg6w">Buy 2 get the 3rd game free</a>" deal underground this week. It's going on right now without a flyer being produced for last Sunday's papers -- a first as far as we're aware. Maybe they're testing to see if the web does the work for them? The deal is both online and in the stores. We're just completely baffled why TRU said nothing about the event we're consistently excited for whenever it happens. Some are even rumoring that this could be a two-week deal and that it'll actually be advertised this Sunday, so get in now before the general populace finds out. They are also doing a "buy one, get one accessory 50% off deal." No word yet if you could work the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/29/3200-ms-points-for-20-at-circuit-city/">Circuit City MS point angle</a> on that.<br /><br />If you don't know about <a href="http://www.gamefly.com/store/">GameFly's store</a>, well let us inform you about another hidden gem of value on these intertubes. According to CAG, this week GameFly is offering free shipping to non-subscribers who <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/archives/free-shipping-on-select-games-at-gamefly-ends-924.php#more">purchase select used games</a>. GameFly subscribers always get free shipping. The purchased used games are sent with the original case and manual practically untouched. Save as much money as you can while feeding the need for gaming. The storm is coming.<br /><br />[Thanks Anonymous]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/19/toys-r-us-and-gamefly-deals-before-the-holiday-flood/">Toys R Us and GameFly deals before the holiday flood</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Sep 2007 11:15:00 EST. Reports starting surfacing that some Toys R Us stores have "accidentally" placed <em>BioShock</em> on their shelves, with gamers posting pictures of their early release purchase on <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7415270&amp;postcount=1258">NeoGAF</a>, <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3240914&amp;postcount=344">Cheap Ass Gamer</a>, <a href="http://the7gamers.com/2007/08/14/bioshock-early-release/">The7Gamers</a>, <a href="http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3463">2K Games forums</a> and more. So, if you have an itch for Big Daddy fun, make a call to your local Toys R Us today to see if they have <em>BioShock</em> available. Lesson learned, you just can't keep a Big Daddy from being released early ... you just can't.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/15/toys-r-us-puts-bioshock-on-shelves-already/">Toys R Us puts BioShock on shelves already</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Aug 2007 11:00:00 EST. When reader Aaron wrote in to inform us that his local Toys R Us store had volumes upon volumes of DS games, drastically reduced in price, we thought nothing more than "Oh, awesome, cheap games." This was quickly shifted toward feelings of absolute disgust, as we saw the store had <em>way too many</em> copies of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/phoenixwright"><em>Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney</em></a> on their hands.<br /><br />Anyway, if you have some spare time today, you might want to hit up the bargain bin at your local Toys R Us.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/13/cheap-games-at-toys-r-us/">Cheap games at Toys R Us</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Aug 2007 12:28:00 EST. According to a source at Best Buy who sent Joystiq these images, the Xbox 360 Core model is dead and remaining stocks are all that's left of the system.<br /><br />The sheet, according to our source, shows the description of the Xbox 360 Core hardware and underneath it is the word "deleted, meaning it is being taken out of the system." The out of stock date reads 7-29-07 and the larger image (found after the break) shows the pref code "y." According to the source, "This means replenishment of this item is not expected."<br /><br />In a statement from July 16, when we originally heard rumblings that the Xbox 360 Core was over, a Microsoft spokesperson told us in regards to it being discontinued, "No. Xbox 360 Core remains an important member of the Xbox 360 family." The leaked Toys R Us ad shows exactly what its long distance cousin from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/28/wal-mart-ad-reveals-xbox-360-price-cut/">Wal-mart</a> displays, a $50 price cut on the Premium 360. Supposedly, both ads come from August 12th when the rumored price cut will occur and subsequently the internets will explode. Well, maybe not explode, but get really hopped up on caffeine and run around hugging anyone in sight. Anyway, these ads simply add more fuel to the Xbox 360 price cut fire, but we'll only be able to know the complete story and the truth in a few weeks. And for all our "I need to see them with my own eyes!" readers, bigger scans of both the Toys R Us and Wal-mart ads are viewable over at Cheap Ass Gamer after the jump.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/30/more-proof-toys-r-us-ad-hints-at-360-price-cut/">More proof: Toys R Us ad hints at 360 price cut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jul 2007 11:00:00 EST. Well, CheapyD, who runs <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/">CheapAssGamer</a>, is convinced about the $50 price drop coming to the Xbox 360 in August. Following yesterday's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/28/rumor-xbox-360-at-345-in-advertisement/">leaked "Wal-Mart" ad</a>, today the crew at CAG dug up this Toys R Us ad for the week beginning Sunday, Aug. 12. The image <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/archives/walmart-toys-r-us-ads-confirm-50-xbox-360-price-cut.php">taken by UgamerX</a> is still really hard to make out and was probably taken on the sly, but the picture, in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/trudrop3.jpg">largest size available</a>, does seem to show toward the right side a "Valid Monday 8/13/07 ..." regarding some other deal, meaning the ad is at least in the same week. Also, <em>Madden 08,</em> which releases Aug. 14, can be clearly seen above the price drop image.<br /><br />Cheapy D says, "When they become available, I fully expect the other retailer's ads to reflect the $50 price drop." Another member at CAG named Speedy, who was the one to expose the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/rumor-circuit-city-drops-ps3-price-by-100-week-of-july-15/">price drop for the PS3</a>, typically gets Circuit City, Target and Best Buy flyers early; so we'll see what's really going on that week when he posts that week's flyer information. No word yet on how this will affect the Core or the Elite models of the Xbox 360.<br /><br />[Thanks CheapyD, James, Zewone]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/29/toys-r-us-ad-shows-xbox-349-price-drop/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us ad shows Xbox $349 price drop</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/29/toys-r-us-ad-shows-xbox-349-price-drop/">Toys R Us ad shows Xbox $349 price drop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Jul 2007 09:50:00 EST. The excellent thing is, though, that the sale isn't limited to just the company's website, allowing patrons inside its stores to take advantage of the offer as well. So, should you be the type of person who hates to wait for things to ship to you, just walk in your local store and you're set.<br /><br />You'll only have until Saturday, however, as the sale only extends until then. And, as always with this sale, the cheapest game you pick up will be the title given for free from the retail chain. So, what will you be getting through the sale? As for us, we'd definitely like to get our hands on ... well, to tell the truth, we've pretty much got every game we could want.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/24/ds-games-at-toys-r-us-are-buy-2-get-1-free-this-week/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/26/buy-2-get-1-at-toys-r-us-again/">Buy 2, get 1 at Toys R Us again</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Jun 2007 13:20:00 EST. <div align="left">Toys R Us has put out their list of the top 24 hottest toys for this summer, and, surprisingly, there is only one video game on the list-- and even that one's kind of a non-game, according to some people's definitions. Nintendo's brain-teasin' hit <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BrainAge/">Brain Age</a></em> represents the entirety of our hobby in Toys R Us's summer marketing campaign, despite being a game about math problems, and despite being over a year old. Technically, they also advertise the <a href="http://www.leapfrog.com/Primary/PreschoolKindergarten/Leapster.jsp">Leapster</a>, but ... don't worry about the Leapster..<br /><br />Are we seeing early signs of a Japan-style <em>Brain Age </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/23/non-games-selling-non-poorly-in-japan/">phenomenon</a>? Should we start hoarding DS Lites?<br /></div>

And after paging through their images we noticed a pretty cool Xbox 360 offer. Beginning April 1st at Toys R Us you can grab a free $50 gift card with any Xbox 360 console purchase. Though, it really doesn't compare to this past Christmas' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/17/100-gift-card-free-with-xbox-360-purchase/">offer</a>, but that was then this is now. Tipster HexiJosh was spot on about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/02/rumor-target-and-toys-r-us-hoarding-wiis-for-sunday/">last</a> TRU Wii hoard, so we have no reason to disbelieve him now when he tells us that Sunday, March 18 is the day to queue up. Still, we're marking this as a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/rumors">rumor</a> just to be safe.<br /><br />He says that Toys R Us stores are getting even larger shipments this time than last time-- his store is getting a minimum of 12 systems-- and that TRU is planning to sell them bundled with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sonic">Sonic and the Secret Rings</a></em>. We hope these bundles don't cost full price-- bundling is only fun when there's a discount involved, and even then it's kind of annoying.<br /><br />But complaining about bundles misses the point, which is HEY THERE ARE PROBABLY GOING TO BE SOME WIIS FOR SALE. Plan your next weekend accordingly!<br /><br />[Thanks, HexiJosh!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/12/rumor-another-stash-of-wiis-coming-to-toys-r-us/">Rumor: Another stash of Wiis coming to Toys R Us</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Mar 2007 10:35:00 EST. If you picked up a Wii at Toys R Us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/02/rumor-target-and-toys-r-us-hoarding-wiis-for-sunday/">yesterday</a>, you now have an opportunity to get some relatively good games for a decent price, from now until the 10th.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toysrus">Toys R Us</a> is offering three Ubisoft-published Wii games for the price of two. According to tipsters working at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/target">Target</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toysrus">Toys R Us</a>, both of those chains have been receiving shipments of Wiis to be shelved this Sunday, March 4th. Apparently the Wii availability will be featured in the weekly ad circulars for these retailers.<br /><br />If you go to check these rumors out and find a Wii, or <em>especially if you don't</em>, please adhere to the following protocol:<br />
<ol>
    <li>No fighting</li>
    <li>No looting</li>
    <li>No making deals with employees to buy stuff off of the truck</li>
</ol>
<br />We should all try to avoid anything that would support the negative stereotypes associated with our hobby, and acting like the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tickle_me_elmo">Tickle-Me Elmo</a> mobs won't help. If in doubt, remember this simple mantra: "Don't do anything that will make TV news."<br /><br />[Thanks to HexiJosh! for the TRU info!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/02/rumor-target-and-toys-r-us-hoarding-wiis-for-sunday/">Rumor: Target and Toys R Us hoarding Wiis for Sunday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Mar 2007 10:45:00 EST. Solution one: wait for one of the "thousands" of Wii and PS3 consoles the toy giant <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/18/toys-r-us-more-ps3s-wiis-before-christmas/">is promising</a> this week. Solution two: buy a 360.<br /><br />We know, you were waiting for that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/20/rumor-new-cheaper-xbox-360-this-holiday/">rumored</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/29/microsoft-to-drop-xbox-360-price-by-100/">price cut</a> (which is still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/30/360-costs-are-falling-but-price-drop-is-a-ways-off/">a ways off</a> by the way) but TRU is offering a free $100 gift card* when you buy an Xbox 360 in-store by December 24. Sure, it's not a price drop, but it's almost as good -- especially when you factor in all the extra kit you'll be wanting, like the comically priced WiFi adapter (conveniently enough, $100). Rather have the cash? Don't forget about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/27/micro-center-extends-xbox-360-rebate-thru-holidays/">Microcenter's $100 mail-in-rebate</a>, good through December 31. <br /><br /><small>*TRU's small print: "Not valid on "R" Express or phone orders. Gift card valid on your next visit. See back of card for Terms &amp; Conditions. Void where prohibited. Offer valid 12/17-12/24/06. Limit one per customer. Limited quantities available. This week at Toys R Us when you purchase a Xbox 360 premium pack you'll get a free $100 Toys R Us gift card. The offer looks to be only available in-store as we haven't been able to unearth any information on their website. This has to be one of the best deals on a new 360 purchase in a while, especially for parents who need to pick up other gifts at the toys retailer with the $100 gift card. Or you can totally be a hardcore gamer and pick up a game or two, maybe an extra controller, or even some candy! Spend your $100 gift card wisely.<br /><br /><font color="#ff0000">Update 1:</font> Replaced post's image with actual Sunday adscan. Eager fanboys and girls were wrapped around the entire block, from 45th St. down 8th Ave, to 44th St. and back up 7th Ave (peep Engadget's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/18/live-from-nintendos-wii-launch-in-new-york/">fancy map</a>). When Reggie took the stage at 11:40 to preach to the choir, he said over 3000 people were lined up, but they were prepared with over 4000 consoles (we'd heard over 5000 and even over 8000 from various insiders). Everyone in line got a white wrist band guaranteeing them a Wii; however, not everyone got the baby blue Wii shirt and white knit-cap (things apparently got a little out of hand, so they stopped handing 'em out). We gathered a ton of pictures and video (coming soon) of the event, which you can hit up after the break. Any 'stiqers in attendance?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/19/nintendos-wii-launch-party-times-square/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo's Wii launch party (Times Square, NYC)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/19/nintendos-wii-launch-party-times-square/">Nintendo's Wii launch party (Times Square, NYC)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 Nov 2006 13:30:00 EST. In addition to Target and Wal-Mart, we know GameStop / EB Games, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/08/the-best-buy-camp-out-to-ps3-begins/">Best Buy</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/05/6-circuit-city-stores-with-ps3-midnight-launch-and-100-units/">Circuit City</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/06/forget-best-buy-head-sears-for-the-ps3-launch/">Sears</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/29/we-wait-for-wii-ps3-at-toys-r-us-boston-edition-part-1/2">Toys 'R' Us</a> are having PS3s on launch day. We know supplies will be very limited and GameStop <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/13/gamestop-cannot-fill-ps3-preorders/">won't be fulfilling</a> all of its PS3 pre-orders (already conservative figures).<br /><br />That smaller retail chains will not have PS3s on launch day is not that surprising, but only the "top five retailers" is wrong and makes the memo a bit suspect. Rhino Video Games will not be getting PS3s on launch day -- a fact reaffirmed on its <a href="http://rhinovideogames.com/default.aspx">website</a> -- the rest is not true. Rest assured, there will be PS3s for sale at all retailers by the end of 2007. We hope.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/15/ps3-launch-shipments-restricted-to-top-5-retailers/">PS3 launch shipments restricted to top 5 retailers?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Nov 2006 16:55:00 EST.
