Sorry, challengers! <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2">Assassin's Creed 2</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/new-super-mario-bros-wii"><em>New Super Mario Bros. Wii</em></a> have again landed the top three slots (respectively) on the UK charts, and it looks like they've settled in for a long winter's nap. <em>MW2</em> is in its third week at the top, while Italian buddies Ezio and Mario are celebrating <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/uk-charts-modern-warfare-still-tops-assassins-creed-2-outperf/">their second week</a>, according to <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=743&amp;s=1111">GfK</a>.<br /> <br /> We're not sure if anything will be able to unseat these three before the holidays but, if history is any indication, <em>NSMBW </em>might as well build a summer cottage in the top 10.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/modern-warfare-2-mario-assassins-creed-2-still-running-the-uk/">Modern Warfare 2, Mario, Assassin's Creed 2 still running the UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 10:00:00 EST. The <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed</em></a> sequel may not have taken out <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</em> from the top spot on the UK charts, but the game did outperform the original's 2007 debut by 12 percent in unit sales. Although Chart Track doesn't give specific unit sales figures, it's staggering to think that Infinity Ward's FPS <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=738&amp;s=1111">dropped 86 percent</a> after its launch week and still retained the top spot.<br /> <br /> Behind the big boys of violence, Nintendo's <em>New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports Resort </em>and <em>Wii Fit Plus</em> took the next three spots, respectively. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/20/review-left-4-dead-2/">hardened</a> <em>Left 4 Dead 2</em> shambled up to seventh spot.<br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=738&amp;s=1111">Source</a> -- <em>Call of Duty </em>stands firm [Chart Track]<br /> <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">Source</a> -- All formats chart [Chart Track]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/uk-charts-modern-warfare-still-tops-assassins-creed-2-outperf/">UK Charts: Modern Warfare still tops; Assassin's Creed 2 outperforms original's debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Nov 2009 10:39:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5"><em>Guitar Hero 5</em></a>, which is like the tenth (give or take a couple) installment in the series, has resonated with UK consumers and hit a high note atop the Chart Track <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">all-formats chart</a>. The Dark Knight of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/07/the-batman-remains-atop-uk-sales-charts/"><em>Arkham Asylum</em></a> -- who was perched above the charts for two weeks -- slipped off the top to the number three spot, with <em>Colin McRae: Dirt 2</em> taking the silver. <br /> <em><br /> The Beatles: Rock Band</em> premiered at the number four spot, which some are sure to find disappointing. Both <em>Guitar Hero</em> and <em>Rock Band</em> have previously debuted at the fourth and sixth spot, respectively, with previous iterations. Music games <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/12/music-game-sales-down-46-still-third-best-selling-genre/">may be on a sales decline</a>, but they apparently still know how to make an entrance.<br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=694&amp;s=1111">Source</a> -- Guitar Hero 5 hits the right notes (Chart Track)<br /> <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">Source</a> -- All formats chart (Chart Track)<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/">Guitar Hero 5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064300"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-full-band-with-lyrics--star-power_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064301"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-non-hud-shot_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064302"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-three-drums-one-guitar_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064303"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-two-drum-two-guitar--star-power_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2195733"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/8940_01_0026_20090629-4g4h1-8102009-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/14/guitar-hero-5-goes-straight-to-the-top-of-the-uk-charts/">Guitar Hero 5 goes straight to the top of the UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Sep 2009 09:00:00 EST. We're not sure what's more impressive: That a cricket game was actually outselling <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-sports-resort">Wii Sports Resort</a> </em>for two weeks in the UK, or that Nintendo's latest minigame melange only outsold <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wolfenstein">Wolfenstein</a> </em>by 2,000 copies for the week of August 16 to 22. That's what the latest numbers and report from <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">Chart Track</a> show, placing the id Software / Raven shooter at the top of the PS3, 360 and PC charts for its first week on sale.<br /><br />We'll have to wait for NPD's numbers to see how the FPS fared on this side of the pond, but it's pretty obvious that -- the world over -- everybody loves killing some Nazis. Take a peek after the break to see what else the Brits have been buying up lately.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">Source</a> -- Chart Trak, week ending 8/22<br /><a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=688&amp;s=1111">Source</a> -- Wii Sports Resort keeps Wolfenstein at bay<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/24/wii-sports-resort-barely-bests-wolfenstein-in-the-uk/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Sports Resort barely bests Wolfenstein in the UK</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/24/wii-sports-resort-barely-bests-wolfenstein-in-the-uk/">Wii Sports Resort barely bests Wolfenstein in the UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Aug 2009 18:30:00 EST. <div align="left">So it turns out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fight-night-round-4"><em>Fight Night Round 4</em></a> is a <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">real <em>hit</em></a> over in the UK. A real <em>hit</em>. That's a joke. What isn't a joke is that the game is enjoying a second week at the number one spot, despite competition from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tiger-woods-pro-tour-10"><em>Tiger Woods Pro Tour 10</em></a>, which debuted at number 2. We say "competition," but no matter which one you buy the money's still going in EA's pocket -- something that doesn't happen when you buy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/transformers"><em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen</em></a>, which surged from number 6 to number 3 this week.<br /><br />The bundling of Wii MotionPlus with <em>Tiger Woods</em> doesn't seem to have impacted too much on sales, as it debuted at number 4 in the Wii charts. <em>Grand Slam Tennis</em> -- which is also bundled with MotionPlus -- swapped places with <em>EA Sports Active</em>, jumping from number 3 to number 2. None of which seem to be able to get close to that <em>other</em> Wii peripheral, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit"><em>Wii Fit</em></a>, which sits comfortably at the top of the Wii chart, as usual.</div>

Who would have thought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Chronicles-of-Riddick-Assault-on-Dark-Athena/"><em>The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena</em></a> would be so successful? In the UK, the Vin Diesel-starring, sci-fi adventure came into the charts at the number two spot, being the only debut entry for the week to make it into the <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">top 40</a> (obliterating other debut titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-revolution"><em>Rock Revolution</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dynasty-warriors-gundam-2"><em>Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2</em></a>).<br /><br />So, what was the only game keeping Vin Diesel from full-out domination? It's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit"><em>Wii Fit</em></a>, which still reigns supreme in the Isles. Sorry Vinny, you can't dethrone <em>Wii Fit</em> -- not even with those weird glowing eyes of yours. But hey, fans still love you; they're keeping <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wheelman"><em>Wheelman</em></a> afloat at #22.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/riddick-dark-athena-debuts-at-2-in-uk-charts-only-new-game-to/">Riddick: Dark Athena debuts at #2 in UK charts, only new game to make top 40</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Apr 2009 04:29:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World At War</em></a> continues its slow descent down the UK Charts this week, ending up at number four, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit"><em>Wii Fit</em></a> clings onto the number one spot for the millionth week in a row. New contender <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fear-2"><em>FEAR 2</em></a> gives an admirable performance, making its way to the number two spot, though we suspect this may not last very long. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead-overkill"><em>House Of The Dead: Overkill</em></a> sadly didn't make the top ten, instead coming in at number 15. Considering the number of Wii owners clamoring for hardcore games, they don't seem to be <em>buying</em> them when they actually appear.<br /><br />With <em>Wii Fit</em>, <em>Wii Play</em>, <em>Mario Kart Wii</em> and <em>Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games</em> all in the top ten week after week, is it any wonder developers are more likely to produce waggle-thons and mini-game collections for the console?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/fear-2-debuts-at-number-2-in-uk-charts/">FEAR 2 debuts at #2 in UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 18:50:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit"><em>Wii Fit</em></a> remains at the top of the UK charts for the week ending January 24th, closely followed by its buddy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty World At War</em></a> at number 2. These two games are trying their best not to let anyone into their special "Top Two" club, despite EA's numerous attempts so far this year. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lord-of-the-rings-conquest"><em>Lord of the Rings: Conquest</em></a>, which showed strong sales when it debuted at number 3 in the charts, has now dropped to number 4.<br /><br />This makes way for EA's newest contender, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/skate-2"><em>Skate 2</em></a>, which has also managed to reach number 3 in the charts during its debuting week. Strong sales, but not strong enough to beat <em>Call of Duty: World At War, </em>which has been hovering up there for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/cod-world-at-war-tops-uk-charts-for-fifth-week/">over two months</a> now. The strangest story is <em>Wii Fit</em>'s, however, as it has jumped up from 33rd to 1st in the last three weeks. We're not sure what sparked this <em>Wii Fit</em> resurgence ... perhaps being <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7791820.stm">constantly told they're overweight</a> by their government has finally had an impact on UK citizens.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/27/wii-fit-dominates-uk-charts-skate-2-makes-strong-debut/">Wii Fit dominates UK charts, Skate 2 makes strong debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Jan 2009 19:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=wii+play"><em>Wii Play</em></a> has finally regained its spot at the top of the charts in the UK, as it has bested previous top-seller <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mario-kart-wii"><em>Mario Kart Wii</em></a> this week. Not since February of last year has <em>Wii Play</em> been the top dog in the UK, which is just plain surprising, if you ask us. Sure, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/27/point-counterpoint-the-worth-of-wii-play/">we may not all agree on the bundle's worth</a>, but it's still a pretty tempting package, especially to someone who hasn't even tried the bundled software for 5 minutes, gotten bored, and wandered off to make a sandwich.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-play/">Wii Play</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-play/#707240"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/wiiplayg009ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-play/#707241"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/wiiplayg011ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-play/#707242"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/wiiplayg012ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-play/#707243"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/wiiplayg005ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-play/#707244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/wiiplayg006ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/wii-play-back-on-top-of-uk-sales-charts-this-week/">Wii Play back on top of UK sales charts this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 17:37:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> (CoD:W@W for the more efficient among you) has defended its number one position on the all-format <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/32701/UK-CHARTS-Call-of-Duty-holds-firm">UK game sales charts</a>, extending its reign to a fifth consecutive week despite heavy holiday competition. <em>Mario Kart Wii</em> took the second spot, followed by <em>FIFA '09</em> and, still quite bizarrely, <em>Need for Speed: Undercover</em>. Oh, but wait until we tell you what's in the fifth spot. <em>Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training</em>. Remember that one?<br /><br />Further down the charts, Ubisoft's cel-shaded scurrier, <em>Prince of Persia</em>, climbed to the 20th position while <em>Sonic Unleashed</em> went from 33rd to 12th. We'll let that sink in for a few moments.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/cod-world-at-war-tops-uk-charts-for-fifth-week/">CoD: World at War tops UK charts for fifth week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Dec 2008 09:40:00 EST.
