The game bundles up the previously Xbox-exclusive <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/trials-evolution"><em>Trials Evolution</em></a> and all the levels from its predecessor, <em>Trials HD</em>, into one big, bone-crushing package. Gold Edition features the same extensive level editor, allowing players to come up with all kinds of creations, including ones that have nothing to do with racing at all.<br /><br /><em>Trials Evolution: Gold Edition</em> will be available both via retail and download services. But it won't be on Wii U at launch, as the project has been shelved indefinitely.<br /><br />Producer Theo Sanders told Videogamer that "As of right now, the entire Ghost Recon team is focused on the PC version only," adding "The Wii U version is on hold." He said that the team at Ubisoft Shanghai, who was simultaneously developing both versions, simply wanted to have "all hands on deck" for the PC service, though the Wii U "was a really fun, cool platform to develop for."<br /><br />"If in the future we have an opportunity to address it again, we'll make future announcements," Sanders said. "But as of right now we're focused completely on the PC version."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/06/ghost-recon-online-for-wii-u-on-hold-ubi-focused-on-pc-versio/">Ghost Recon Online for Wii U 'on hold,' Ubi focused on PC version</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Sep 2012 11:00:00 EST. From behind the smoke a group of four rebels emerge and open fire on an ammo depot I'm set on defending. Two of the invaders are felled in a hail of shots from my submachine gun. Two other foes scatter and leave me standing alone. The area is mine, and mine alone.<br /><br />I hole up, waiting for a flanking attack -- but nothing happens. Seconds later I hear a crack in the air. A blip registers on my radar. Then another crack and I fall to my feet, dead.<br /><br />What seems fairly standard turns into something new and interesting. Like <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare</em> before it, <em>Far Cry 3</em> reveals lethal enemy positions via a kill cam. But unlike other titles, <em>Far Cry 3</em>'s system may be the best that I've ever seen at detailing critical strategic information to downed players.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/far-cry-3-gamescom-2011/">Far Cry 3 (Gamescom 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/far-cry-3-gamescom-2011/#4373035"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/fc3gc2011screenshotak47logo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/far-cry-3-gamescom-2011/#4373036"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/fc3gc2011screenshotcenotelogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/far-cry-3-gamescom-2011/#4373037"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/fc3gc2011screenshotcorpseslogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/far-cry-3-gamescom-2011/#4373038"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/fc3gc2011screenshotheadshotlogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/far-cry-3-gamescom-2011/#4373039"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/fc3gc2011screenshotsniperlogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/06/the-ghostly-image-of-my-death-in-far-cry-3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The ghostly image of my death in Far Cry 3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/06/the-ghostly-image-of-my-death-in-far-cry-3/">The ghostly image of my death in Far Cry 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Apr 2012 23:15:00 EST. It shifted from a full retail release to a condensed downloadable title. Development was ripped out of the hands of one (now defunct) developer and given to another. The character and his backstory were changed. Even the setting was altered. It almost seemed that, like <em>I Am Alive</em>'s protagonist, Ubisoft was attempting to pull itself out of a terrible disaster. Core ideas that exist in <em>I Am Alive </em>show an exceptional amount of promise, but the title shows its hand far too quickly, running out of captivating tricks within the first few hours.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-1-23-12/">I Am Alive (1/23/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-1-23-12/#4770507"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/iaascreenshot4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-1-23-12/#4770508"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/iaascreenshot8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-1-23-12/#4770510"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/iaascreenshot12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-1-23-12/#4770511"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/iaascreenshot19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-1-23-12/#4770512"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/iaaxblgameart584x800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/07/i-am-alive-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>I Am Alive review: Do not resuscitate</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/07/i-am-alive-review/">I Am Alive review: Do not resuscitate</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Mar 2012 15:30:00 EST. The app features area maps, hints from the developers regarding points of interest, an achievement checklist and a compendium of in-game resources and their effects. It also contains concept art, developer diaries and the game's soundtrack, six tracks of which are exclusive to the app.<br /><br />The companion program even has a photo mode, which lets you take pictures of your friends eating and then make it look like they're eating <em>in a dystopian ruin</em>. Cell phones probably don't work in <em>I Am Alive</em>'s post-apocalyptic future, but they <em>do</em> work in our pre-apocalyptic present, so why not take advantage of that while you can? If anything, you'll be able to impress all of your trendy hipster friends with a photo manipulation app they've never heard of.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/07/i-am-alive-receives-free-ios-companion-app/">I Am Alive receives free iOS companion app</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Mar 2012 01:00:00 EST. Remember that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/far-cry-3"><em>Far Cry 3</em></a> trailer we were all excited about from Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference? It turns out that, ahead of Ubisoft officially releasing it, one intrepid YouTuber has snagged it and thrown it online. Thankfully, it wasn't tied to a rock before being thrown into the internet.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/06/far-cry-3-trailer-touches-down-gets-tied-up-and-left-for-dead/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Far Cry 3 trailer touches down, gets tied up, and left for dead</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/06/far-cry-3-trailer-touches-down-gets-tied-up-and-left-for-dead/">Far Cry 3 trailer touches down, gets tied up, and left for dead</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Jun 2011 19:53:00 EST. We're going to ask you to remember <em>all the way back to last week</em>, when we reported on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/01/i-am-alive-on-psn-and-xbla/">a rumor</a> that the long-in-development (and optimistically titled) <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/01/i-am-alive-on-psn-and-xbla/">I Am Alive</a></em> was, in fact, still alive but would only see release on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Nearly a full week after that story crawled out of the rubble we know as the internet, and a week after Ubi said that it had "not recently announced anything for <em>I Am Aliv</em>e" and, in case it wasn't totally clear, it has "nothing official to announce at this time," we have an update from the source of the rumor. <br />
<br />
The French-language video show Warpzone is a part of French gaming site JeuxVideo, which said, "Obviously, anyone who has watched Warpzone immediately understood it was an unimportant joke." It was seemingly so unimportant that they waited until now to let everyone know! As for the fate of <em>I Am Alive</em>, Ubisoft's unwillingness to confirm whether or not the title is a retail game or a downloadable game, or really to talk about it at all, isn't filling us with hope.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/07/i-am-alive-report-was-a-joke-games-continued-delay-evidently/">I Am Alive report was a 'joke,' game's continued delay evidently not a joke</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Feb 2011 18:50:00 EST. *Cough, cough.*<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/i-am-alive"><em>I Am Alive</em></a>. No, really, I haven't been declared dead yet! I know it's been touch-and-go, but I appear to be on the mend. It's just -- well, I may have lost a bit of myself along the way. <br />
<br />
I was once supposed to be a full-fledged retail game -- in a nice box and everything -- but according to the host of JeuxFrance's "Warpzone" show (who claims to have been informed directly from the creator herself, Jade Raymond), I'm now going to be alive <em>digitally</em>, inside of Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. While I don't like the idea of losing any vital parts or, uh, <em>shrinking</em>, I do hope the news is true! Those are <em>nice,</em> open places to live -- and probably better than a cramped box.<br />

[Update: Ubisoft hasn't gotten back to us, but it did <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-02-01-i-am-alive-now-a-psn-xbl-game-report">tell Eurogamer</a>, "we have not recently announced anything for I Am Alive and we have nothing official to announce at this time." Well, okay then.]<br type="_moz" />

In November of 2003, a much younger Ubisoft was launching two high-profile (and excellent!) titles: the Montreal-developed reboot of the <em>Prince of Persia</em> series, subtitled "Sands of Time," and the Montpellier-developed <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil</em>, the supposed first installment in creator Michel Ancel's planned trilogy. By now, you know how this story goes. The <em>Prince of Persia</em> reboot - fueled by Ubisoft's curiously siloed marketing muscle - was a massive success and spawned two immediate sequels, a 2008 reboot, a 2010 feature film and associated tie-in game. The remainder of the <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil</em> trilogy? Despite a sequel <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/beyond-good-and-evil-2-revealed-at-ubidays-2008/">being announced five years later</a> at Ubisoft's Ubidays event in 2008, the company has subsequently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/14/rumor-ubisoft-maintains-beyond-good-and-evil-2-still-in-productio/">ignored</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/26/gamersyde-told-beyond-good-and-evil-2-is-on-hold-ubisoft-won/">mismanaged</a>, or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/ubisoft-na-prez-missed-memo-that-beyond-good-and-evil-2-is-totally/">forgotten</a> that promise.<br />
<br />
But now, seven years after both games made their way to retail, we're being treated to HD rereleases and, while <em>Prince of Persia: Sands of Time</em> was released on PS3 as a lazy up-rezzed port (even retaining major bugs from its original release!), <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil</em> appears to be benefitting from a degree of care (and marketing) it was never afforded in 2003. Talk about karma. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-0/">Beyond Good &amp; Evil HD</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-0/#3747942"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/bge-footage.070871_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-0/#3747943"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/bge-footage.059951_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-0/#3747944"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/bge-footage.012008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-0/#3747946"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/bge-footage.007855_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-0/#3747948"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/bge-footage.004414_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/08/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-preview-there-is-power-in-numbers-carlso/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil HD preview: There is power in numbers (Carlson and Peeters, chapter 21)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/08/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-preview-there-is-power-in-numbers-carlso/">Beyond Good &amp; Evil HD preview: There is power in numbers (Carlson and Peeters, chapter 21)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Jan 2011 20:30:00 EST. We got a chance to play a small section from early on in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/30/beyond-good-and-evil-hd/">freshly revealed</a> <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil HD</em> yesterday evening at Ubisoft Digital Day 2010. Jade and Pey'j definitely looked higher-poly, while the textures were still clearly in the process of being swapped out. The framerate was a little inconsistent at this stage, but just by running at 1080p the game looked remarkable, even seven years after its 2003 debut. <br />
<br />
Ubisoft couldn't confirm if this remastering should be taken as a sign that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/beyond-good-and-evil-2">Beyond Good &amp; Evil 2</a></em> had become a higher priority project at the company. You can, however, bet it will be keeping a close eye on sales of <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil HD</em> as a gauge of just how quickly it needs to get the sequel out the door.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd/">Beyond Good &amp; Evil HD</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd/#3421640"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgehdscreenshots-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd/#3421642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgehdscreenshots-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd/#3421643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgehdscreenshots-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd/#3421644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgehdscreenshots-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/beyond-good-and-evil-hd/#3421645"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/bgehdscreenshots-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/30/beyond-good-and-evil-hd-screens/">Beyond Good &amp; Evil HD: see the first screens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Sep 2010 14:35:00 EST. My eager and regularly disappointed followers,<br />
<br />
I am becoming less saddened as the days between our union grow further still. Here, within the ethereal concepts in which I am trapped, I am no longer certain of my existence. They say, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/rumor-i-am-alive-but-i-may-not-still-look-like-these-screens/">I don't look like myself anymore</a>. Master Yves <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/106/1060988p1.html">says</a> that I am "totally re-engineered" ... that I have come to use "the <em>Splinter Cell</em> engine" -- but how should I know? How should <em>anyone</em> know? I am not like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/13/ubisoft-to-refocus-on-xbox-360-ps3-and-major-franchises/">the others</a>; and I make no claim to being important or "major," as it is said. My maker has cast me out of its fiscal 2010-11 release calendar. I am alone. But I am okay with that.<br />
<br />
Yours in perpetuity,<br />

Grab your night-vision goggles and strap on your Kevlar, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/GRAW">Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter</a></em> and <em>Splinter Cell: Double Agent</em> have been <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/09/01/xbox-360-games-on-demand-graw-and-splinter-cell-double-agent.aspx">added</a> to Xbox Live's Games on Demand service. While <em>GRAW</em> is available in nearly all Xbox Live regions, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Splinter-Cell-Double-Agent/">Splinter Cell: Double Agent</a></em> is only available to (most) European Xbox Live users. Prices vary by region, but we're confident in saying that no matter where you live, the asking price is probably too high for games that launched in 2006.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/03/graw-and-splinter-cell-double-agent-infiltrate-games-on-demand/">GRAW and Splinter Cell: Double Agent infiltrate Games on Demand</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Sep 2009 10:39:00 EST. German site <a href="http://www.pcgames.de/aid,691533/I-Am-Alive-Screenshots-Zerstoererische-Katastrophen-Bilder-aufgetaucht/PC/News/">PCGames</a> got its hands ... er, server on a set of screenshots purported to be from an early version of Ubisoft's disaster game <em>I Am Alive</em>. The images, which originated at <a href="http://www.unseen64.net/2009/07/28/i-am-alive-x360ps3-beta/">Unseen64</a>, are said to come from a build of the title from when it was being worked on by <em>Alone in the Dark </em>dev Darkworks. (It's since been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/ubisoft-moves-i-am-alive-from-darkworks-to-ubisoft-shanghai/">handed over</a> to Ubisoft Shanghai.)<br /><br />The screens look plenty disaster-y in their depiction of a post-earthquake Chicago. It's hard to make much of them, though, since they're, y'know, just environments. Let's hope the game's new developer is working hard to deliver gameplay akin to what the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/ubisoft-to-declare-i-am-alive-in-spring-2009/">original teaser trailer</a> hinted at. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=64833">WorthPlaying</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-beta/">I Am Alive (Beta)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-beta/#2183739"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ial.080309.7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-beta/#2183738"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ial.080309.6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-beta/#2183737"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ial.080309.5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-beta/#2183735"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ial.080309.3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/i-am-alive-beta/#2183734"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ial.080309.2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/rumor-i-am-alive-but-i-may-not-still-look-like-these-screens/">Rumor: I Am Alive, but I may not look like these screens anymore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 23:30:00 EST. The voice-controlled RTS <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/EndWar/">EndWar</a></em> didn't garner the most media attention. But, with 1.5 million units sold, it certainly warrants a sequel. Ubisoft Shanghai is creating a follow-up using a "smaller team,"creative director Michael De Plater told <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/ubisoft_shanghai_working_on_endwar_sequel.html">VideoGamer.com</a>. With <em>EndWar</em>'s successful implementation of voice controls, the development team can focus on one of the most lacking aspects of the original: the presentation of the single-player campaign. "After the first one, now we have a really good understanding of what to do ... Giving more attention to the single-player is straightforward to address and will make the game a lot of fun."<br /><br />While De Plater is quick to highlight faults being addressed for the sequel, he remains proud of his team's accomplishment with the first game. While still under the "Tom Clancy" moniker, he considers <em>EndWar</em> an original IP. Considering the challenges that surround launching a new IP, De Plater is more than happy with sales numbers. "We still sold more than <em>Red Alert 3</em>, sold more than <em>Company of Heroes</em>, sold more than <em>World in Conflict</em>. It's still, along with <em>Halo Wars</em>, the biggest new RTS in the last four or five years. Even with those faults it's still up there."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/22/smaller-team-commanding-endwar-sequel/">'Smaller team' commanding EndWar sequel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 19:45:00 EST. Darkworks, who had been working on the game for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/10/gamekyo-jade-raymond-working-on-surival-game-i-am-alive/">over three years</a>, is out; Ubisoft Shanghai is in. According to a Ubisoft statement, the change is a mutual decision, done "in order to respect the new launch date for this ambitious title" (sometime <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/assassins-creed-2-officially-confirmed-with-us-by-march-2010/">this fiscal year</a>) and to allow Darkworks time for its "other obligations."<br /><br />It's likely that Darkworks' contract with Ubisoft is up and Ubisoft decided not to renew it, possibly to keep costs down. The timing is right, considering that March is the original release date for <em>I Am Alive</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.developmag.com/news/31404/Ubisoft-moves-I-Am-Alive-development-to-Shanghai"><em>Develop</em></a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/ubisoft-moves-i-am-alive-from-darkworks-to-ubisoft-shanghai/">Ubisoft moves I Am Alive from Darkworks to Shanghai</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Mar 2009 10:04:00 EST. One of our eagle-eyed readers tipped us off to an interesting development on the official <em><a href="http://ghostrecon.us.ubi.com/">Ghost Recon</a></em> site. Users are treated to a large smoking file flash overlay when the site is loaded up. It appears that some information still marks the burning folder but as it stands the entire thing is a mystery. With the recent release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rsv2">Rainbow Six Vegas 2</a></em>, the ownership <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/clancy-name-bought-by-ubisoft-worth-big-bucks/">agreement</a> with Tom Clancy and the continued <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/same-old-story-cod4-is-still-the-xbox-live-king/">domination</a> of Activision's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cod4">Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</a></em> on Xbox Live (proving gamers want more than just <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo3/">Halo 3</a></em>) is it possible this new smoking file could contain a gun? A gun called <em>Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 3</em>?<br />

<br />
This new <em>Legacy Edition</em> will feature all of the previously released <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/second-graw-2-throwback-pack-is-now-free/">GRAW2</a></em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/video-graw-2-co-op-dlc/">downloadable</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/graw-2-co-op-pack-numero-doce-hits-live-doesnt/">content</a> adding an additional 32 multiplayer maps, new game modes and new weapons to the classic (see: older) <em>GRAW2</em> experience. Ubi didn't mention anything about pricing for the <em>Legacy Edition</em>, so one should expect it to fall in line with pricing for new releases. That said, is there really a point to releasing this <em>Legacy Edition</em> seeing that most of the die hard military shooter fanboys already moved on from <em>GRAW2</em> to the <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/03/11/live-activity-for-week-of-3-3.aspx">oh so popular</a> <em>CoD4</em>? <strong>Update:</strong> The GRAW 2 Co-Op Collection 2 downloadable content is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 400MS Points weighing in at 976MB.<br />
<br />
<em>Original Story: </em>Time for your confusing story of the day kids. Today, <a href="http://www.ubi.com">Ubisoft's</a> London office sent out a media alert letting the press know that the second anticipated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/graw2-co-op-collection-2-gets-fully-revealed/"><em>GRAW 2 Co-op Collection</em></a> pack has been released onto Xbox LIVE for 400 MS Points.<br />
<br />
The only thing is, it hasn't. Scouring <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblm">Xbox Live Markeplace</a>, at the time of this article, there is no sign of any downloadable co-op pack for the Tom Clancy-based hit -- other than the original co-op collection package. Loyal X3F Army soldiers will remember this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/29/new-graw-2-maps-weapons-and-co-op-content/">isn't the first time</a> Ubisoft's UK office jumped the gun on a <em>GRAW 2</em> announcement.<br />
<br />
It looks like the release was premature, but it does answer some of the questions we had regarding the latest DLC for the critically acclaimed title. After releasing the first co-op collection for the hefty asking price of 800MS Points, Ubisoft throws out the latest expansion installment for half-price but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/graw2-co-op-collection-2-gets-fully-revealed/">doesn't skimp</a> on the content. Adding five co-op missions that continue the story of the original DLC, 9 adversarial maps -- 7 remade from other games in the series and 2 new creations, and 8 brand new achievements to pad your gamerscore.<br />
<br />
We're waiting anxiously in the wings for Ubisoft to remind us that the shooter-war isn't just a two pony race. As soon as we learn the content has hit LIVE we'll let you know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/graw-2-co-op-pack-numero-doce-hits-live-doesnt/">GRAW 2 co-op pack numero dos hits LIVE, doesn't [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Mar 2008 14:30:00 EST. <br />
Just like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/graw-2-getting-co-op-collection-expansion/">Co-op Collection</a> before it, this second set of DLC will feature five new missions (Bridges, Stronghold, Depot, Riverbed and Ghost Town), nine new adversarial maps (Bridges, Stronghold, Depot, Riverbed, Ghost Town, Roadblock, Island, Treatment Plant and Mining Camp) as well as <a href="http://features.teamxbox.com/xbox/2170/GRAW-2-Coop-Collection-2-Revealed/p3/">eight additional achievements</a> worth 125 Gamerscore. TeamXbox posted a pretty solid <a href="http://xboxmovies.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/6397/GRAW-2-Coop-Collection-2-Trailer/">video preview</a> of the Co-op Collection 2 which also tells us that the DLC can be downloaded right now off the XBLM. But after doing a quick <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblm">XBLM</a> look, no Co-op Collection 2 could be found. So, we'll just say release date and pricing are "pending".<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/graw2-co-op-collection-2-gets-fully-revealed/">GRAW2 Co-op Collection 2 gets fully revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 15:15:00 EST. Funny thing about that is can't unlock them yet.<br />
<br />
The list of eight new achievements come straight from the bowels of Xbox.com and correspond to various <em>GRAW2</em> co-op mission completions as well as killing tasks on any "GRAW 2: CC map". But know that these achievements are not the same ones released with last year's <em>GRAW2</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/graw-2-getting-co-op-collection-expansion/">Co-Op Collection DLC</a>, these are freshly new and totally unannounced co-op missions. So, that means only one thing to us: more DLC. We expect these new achievements to correspond to another round of paid (or free) <em>GRAW2 </em>DLC that will be making its way to the XBLM soon'ish. You are on alert.<br />
<br />

Still playing that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/graw2"><em>Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2</em></a> game? Do you feel like you need something new? You thought to yourself, "that's a lot of scratch," perhaps. Well, as usual, we're here to help. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ubisoft/">Ubisoft</a> released a little <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30068.html">teaser video</a> that shows off all the levels available in the new content pack. The co-op campaign is comprised of 5 missions from previous <em>Ghost Recon</em> titles (3 from <em>Ghost Recon</em>, 2 from <em>Ghost Recon: Island Thunder</em>). The pack also includes four new adversarial maps, two of which are remakes of old favorites (Castle and Prison). It appears that Ubisoft's going to be ringing in Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday shopping season with a cornucopia (pilgrims FTW!) of content for tactical shooter <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Ghost%20Recon%20Advanced%20Warfighter%202">Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2</a></em>. Sometime in late November, fans will be able to add five new missions that continue the story line and nine new multiplayer maps, seven of which are rehashed from old <em>Ghost Recon</em> games. Oh, and those who get the pack through Xbox Live will also have 125 more Gamerscore points available. <br />
<br />
The one big question that we don't have an answer for yet is price. But Ubisoft is supposed to put some new details out today, so we'll likely soon know if this Thanksgiving treat is the equivalent of delicious pumpkin pie or ... Jello salad.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/big-graw-2-pack-coming-next-month/">Big GRAW 2 pack coming next month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 10:58:00 EST. The <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/827/827831p2.html"><em>GRAW 2</em> Co-Op Collection</a> expansion includes five new campaign missions and nine new multiplayer maps while adding an additional 125 Gamerscore to the mix with nine achievements. Complete details on all the new campaign missions, maps and achievements can be viewed over at IGN, but after giving the expansion content a look over we still have one question on our mind. We wonder if the Co-Op Collection is going to be enough to draw us away from our current FPS gaming rotation and bring us back to <em>GRAW 2</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/graw-2-getting-co-op-collection-expansion/">GRAW 2 getting Co-Op Collection expansion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 10:15:00 EST. If you haven't loaded up <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Ghost%20Recon%3A%20Advanced%20Warfighter%202">Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2</a></em> in a while, we think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you dig the disc out. Last week, the first "Throwback Pack" (originally 800 points in May) went free on the Marketplace. Today, there's a brand new throwback pack, the appropriately titled "Throwback Pack 2", that's absolutely free.<br />
<br />
The main draws here are seven levels that have been remastered from previous <em>Ghost Recon </em>games. But you'll also find a new mode to play around with, Co-op Exfiltration. Wow, from $15 for eight re-lit maps and 4 co-op missions to seven missions for free -- what a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/22/graw-downloadable-content-up-for-1200-ms-bux/">difference a year makes</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/graw-2-gets-free-content-pack/">GRAW 2 gets free content pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Aug 2007 09:30:00 EST. Luckily the game deals keep <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/27/deal-of-the-day-lair-and-folklore-for-15-each-at-amazon/">rolling in</a> letting gamers on a budget pick up the hot titles AND still be able to eat. <br />
<br />
Today we have a nice tip from <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149749">Cheap Ass Gamer</a> that Fry's is selling <em>Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2</em> for $45 dollars, a tasty 25% discount from the retail price. The game has been getting good reviews and even though the game is 6 months late, Ubisoft appears to have done a good job at porting it from the 360 and have added quite a bit of additional content to help compensate for the delay. The cheap price just makes it all the more attractive.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/deal-of-the-day-graw-2-for-45-at-frys/">Deal of the Day: GRAW 2 for $45 at Fry's</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Aug 2007 09:00:00 EST. <br />
<em>Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2</em> silently released to PSP systems, with no advertising and no coverage. Perhaps Ubisoft was too afraid to send review copies? (As of writing, there are no published online reviews of the game.)<br />

The Throwback Pack was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/09/graw-2-throwback-pack-up-for-download/">released</a> back in May for 800 Microsoft points and includes seven multiplayer maps that are remakes from previous <em>Ghost Recon</em> games and expansions. So, we advise finding your <em>GRAW 2</em> disc, downloading the newly free maps and getting back into some online multiplayer. We're sure dedicated <em>GRAW 2</em> players will welcome your presence in the Throwback maps.<br />

Some have said the PS3 is particularly difficult. Are they right? The dev team behind Ubisoft's <em>GRAW2</em> says that no, it's not that tough after all. One member of that team, Yann Le Tensorer said "It's wrong to say it's harder to code on the PlayStation 3, it's just something that needs to be learnt ... It's not harder to develop on the PS3 than it is on the 360, it's just a different console. Developers might says it's harder because it just takes time to understand the technology, we're still early in the lifecycle." Sounds like a fair estimate to us.<br />
<br />
The <em>GRAW2</em> team are happy with the PlayStation 3. With all the hubbub on the internet regarding the "sluggish" version of <em>Madden</em> on the PS3, or the rumors that Rockstar had to delay <em>GTAIV</em> because it was either difficult to port to the 360 or it was difficult to program for the PS3, we really need to find out what the true answer is. Are developers growing lazy, unwilling to learn how to properly code? Is it really difficult, but Ubisoft got lucky? Either way, with this kind of talk, we wholly expect the PS3 version of <em>GRAW2</em> to match the 360 version in every way.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/17/ubisofts-graw-team-denies-ps3-programming-difficulty/">Ubisoft's GRAW team denies PS3 programming difficulty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Aug 2007 19:00:00 EST. Yann Le Tensorer, who co-created the graphics engine powering <em>GRAW</em> and the upcoming <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Beowulf/">Beowulf</a></em>, re-ckons that any uphill development battles are to blame on the learning curve associated with newer hardware. "It's wrong to say it's harder to code on the PlayStation 3, it's just something that needs to be learnt," he told <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=27782">GamesIndustry.Biz</a>. He goes on to stun the less observant by pointing out that "it's just a different console." <br />
<br />
Le Tensorer isn't the first to comment on the hardware's perceived difficulty. In June, Team Ninja's Yosuke Hayashi engaged in less subtle commentary by simply telling complaining PS3 developers to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/14/team-ninja-designer-tells-complaining-ps3-devs-to-get-out/">"get out of the ring."</a> The <em>GRAW</em> developer goes on to state, "Developers might says [sic] it's harder because it just takes time to understand the technology, we're still early in the lifecycle." <br />
<br />
In other words, it is tougher to program for the system, but only while you're still learning the technological ropes. It seems a fair explanation for the publisher's poorly received <em>Splinter Cell: Double Agent </em>port and EA's lack of frames in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/14/ea-tech-support-explains-ps3-madden-frame-rate-issues/"><em>Madden NFL 08</em></a> -- at least from a developer's point of view. Consumers may feel otherwise as they await the PS3 arrival of <em>Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/17/graw-developer-ps3-not-harder-to-code-for-than-360/">GRAW developer: PS3 not harder to code for than 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Aug 2007 17:15:00 EST. Allen <a href="http://serellan.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/08/a-new-blog-a-ne.html">doesn't say</a> what game he'll be working on, but having been a Marine and working on one of the top military-themed franchises in existence, we're going to guess it involves guns -- which he seems <a href="http://serellan.typepad.com/about.html">well-versed</a> in.<br />
<br />
So, super speculation time. Now that Bungie has <em>Halo 3</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/16/halo-3-to-finish-the-fight-on-september-25th/">almost in the bag</a> and they've brought this guy on board, what could they be working on? A <em>Halo</em>-themed squad game? A <em>Halo</em>-themed squad game? Or, a <em>Halo</em>-themed squad game? What, you don't think it'll be a squad game? Ohhh, you don't think it'll be <em>Halo</em>-themed. OK, in other news, Nintendo isn't making Mario games anymore either.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/15/ghost-recon-creative-director-moves-to-bungie/">Ghost Recon creative director moves to Bungie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Aug 2007 18:28:00 EST. It's sad, really. They're just sitting around now, sweating in their stealth wet suits, with their goggles down so we can't see the tears.<br />
<br />
Now it's time to perk up, guys and (specifically) gals, as new, free content for <em>Splinter Cell: Double Agent </em>has just been dropped on Xbox Live. It was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/05/splinter-cell-spy-girl-a-double-agent-on-ps3-and-360/">talked about in February</a>, but is finally here, just in time for nigh irrelevance. You can pick up two new multiplayer maps ("Kinshasa" and "Secret base"), but the real draw here is lady spy, who (as the blade description proudly touts) comes with three outfits. Who says women's liberation is over?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/26/splinter-cell-double-agent-gets-lady-spy-new-maps-on-360/">Splinter Cell: Double Agent gets lady spy, new maps on 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jul 2007 09:32:00 EST. <p>The N64 was home to a ton of brilliant classics, but it was notorious for one crucial flaw ... <em>fog</em>, and lots of it. Having just watched footage of the PSP version of <em>Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2</em>, we'll admit we haven't seen fog this bad since the days of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/03/superman-needs-no-health-bar/"><em>Superman 64</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Of course, we jest (somewhat). Let's hope the graphics are indicative of the way this game plays.<br />

Despite their best efforts, Ubisoft announced that <em>Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2</em> wouldn't be making its way to PS3 audiences this June. The new projected release date is August 31st. Initially, Ubisoft (who prefers the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/07/ubisoft-says-splinter-cell-conviction-couldnt-be-on-ps3/">Xbox 360</a>) intended the PS3 release to coincide with its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/05/new-games-this-week/">Xbox 360 cousin</a> this past March. When that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/24/graw2-delayed-for-the-ps3/">didn't happen</a>, the June release date was given, and now, we're being told a late August release. Judging from the last two delays, we won't hold our breath for this release date either Lets hope the additional time spent in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/14/graw-2-gets-some-extra-features-on-the-ps3/">developer incubator</a> produces some stellar goodies upon its release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/21/graw2-on-ps3-delayed-until-august-31st/">GRAW2 on PS3 delayed until August 31st</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2007 12:30:00 EST.
