And if a simple game of tennis can set off this extreme chain of events, just imagine all the Wii injuries that are possible when it comes to using the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/four-different-controller-options-for-super-smash-bros/">Wiimote and nunchuk</a> for <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Smash Bros. We shudder at the very thought.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/friday-video-consequences/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Friday Video: Consequences</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/friday-video-consequences/">Friday Video: Consequences</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Jun 2007 16:25:00 EST. Bonis' findings were <a href="http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/short/356/23/2431">published</a> (subscription required) in the New England Journal of Medicine and later reported <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/fun.games/06/06/wii.elbow.reut/index.html">by CNN</a>.<br /><br />Acute Wiiitis can reportedly (and thankfully) be treated by taking ibuprofen for a week and also a week-long break from using the Wii remote, but warning: it's best advised to treat it soon or the long-term ramifications could be dire.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/06/wiiitis-on-the-rise-with-wii-players-reports-doctor/">Engadget</a>; thanks, Dave Jurcevic and Zoot Suit Jedi]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/07/psa-excessive-wii-use-could-lead-to-wiiitis/">PSA: excessive Wii use could lead to 'Wiiitis'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jun 2007 16:00:00 EST. One unlucky lady discovered this during a recent session of <em>Wii Sports Tennis</em> when her knee suddenly ceased functioning in a natural way. According to the testimony on <a href="http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/show_article.php?id=77">Wii Have A Problem</a>, the destructive console conspired with the high heels she was wearing at the time and ultimately brought her down to her dislocated knee.<br /><br />With the inclusion of an additional photo of paramedics surrounding the injured player, we once again have to consider the possibility of this being a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/12/fake-wiinjuries-theyre-all-the-rage/">fake injury</a> (and one that could just as easily have occurred in a <em>Dance Dance Revolution</em> session). Perhaps it's time for our savvy readers to confirm or debunk this one. What say you?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/15/wii-tennis-destroys-girls-knee/">Wii Tennis destroys girl's knee</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Dec 2006 18:25:00 EST. Other times, the wiimote <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/11/the-most-painful-looking-wii-injury-to-date/">inflicts massive damage</a> without even leaving the hand, swung wildly through the air with little regards to a friend's head which occupies the same space. Joystiq reader, Anders Akk, today sent us yet another harrowing story of flailing siblings and unexpected clobberings:<br /><br /><em>hey guys, recently got my nintendo wii and have had a really, really bad experience with it. i was playing wii sports boxing with my brother and we were playing in a pretty small room. the idiot go so into the action and tried to side swipe my character when his nunchuk hit me in my right eye. i have an absolutely massive bloody black eye and can hardly even open it. to top it off, about 5 minutes later he was playing on his own when the wii remote shot out of his hand and hit the tv. its only a cheap crt, but he's put a dark patch in it from the impact. anyway, thought i may as well let others get a kick out of my mishaps... <br /></em><br />Paired with his photographic <em>evidence</em>, the tale truly is a dreadful one. Dreadful and entirely untrue. Here's the story Anders <em>should </em>have told us:<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/12/fake-wiinjuries-theyre-all-the-rage/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fake wiinjuries: they're all the rage</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/12/fake-wiinjuries-theyre-all-the-rage/">Fake wiinjuries: they're all the rage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Dec 2006 15:45:00 EST.
