NinjaBee's decidedly adorable city-building game, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/a-kingdom-for-keflings">A Kingdom for Keflings</a>,</em> is the latest arrival on the recently launched OnLive mobile streaming application. As part of its welcoming celebration, the title will run players $2.50 (down from $9.99) through midnight on Monday, December 12. Better yet, anyone who bought the PC version of the game directly through NinjaBee's site are eligible to receive a free OnLive copy -- just email Swag@NinjaBee.com with the subject "Keflings OnLive," including the name and email address you used to buy the game.<br />
<br />
The OnLive version is one of few games on the platform to be altered to include native touchscreen controls, making it a nice fit on tablets like the iPad 2 and Android devices. Keflings, you see, are meant to be poked and prodded, not manipulated with cold, unfeeling joysticks.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/08/kingdom-for-keflings-coming-to-onlive-with-touch-screen-controls/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kingdom for Keflings coming to OnLive with touchscreen controls</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/08/kingdom-for-keflings-coming-to-onlive-with-touch-screen-controls/">Kingdom for Keflings coming to OnLive with touchscreen controls</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Dec 2011 15:30:00 EST. Cosplay enthusiasts will tell you: making costumes based on your favorite fictional characters can be <em>expensive</em>. Depending on how accurate a recreation you're going for, you can drop some serious duckets on materials. Not to mention the trouble of explaining to your parents who Marcus Phoenix is and why you would want to dress up like him. <br />
<br />
That's why we'd like to inform you of the latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/avatar-marketplace">Avatar Marketplace</a> update, a cheaper alternative for your fixation with dress-up. Two new game styles are available: <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/avatar/catalog.aspx?d=25&amp;g=-1&amp;bt=0&amp;br=-1&amp;sb=1&amp;p=1&amp;gi=66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584109db"><em>A World of Keflings</em></a> and <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/avatar/catalog.aspx?d=25&amp;g=-1&amp;bt=0&amp;br=-1&amp;sb=1&amp;p=1&amp;gi=66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802454108d8"><em>Army of Two</em></a>. You can find a plethora of branded hats and shirts from each title, as well as some full body costumes -- you can see the Ninja Bee outfit above. <br />

You know that dusty piggy bank you've had sitting on the shelf forever? Look, forget the kid's college fund -- she's not going to college for, like, <em>years</em> -- and bust that thing open! There's going to be some solid content on Xbox Live Marketplace this month.<br />
<br />
In the mood for XBLA games? How does <em><a linkindex="46" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rocket-knight">Rocket Knight</a> </em>or <a linkindex="47" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/04/this-wednesday-zeno-clash-raystorm-hd-fly-into-xbla/"><em>Zeno Clash</em></a> tickle your fancy? Oh, so you want some DLC -- <a linkindex="48" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/04/dragon-age-origins-darkspawn-chronicles-coming-may-18/"><em>Dragon Age: Origins</em></a> will have more to offer the tireless adventurer later this month. Want to learn the <a linkindex="49" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-secret-of-monkey-island-special-edition"><em>Secret of Monkey Island</em></a><em>?</em> During the week of May 17, the <em>secret</em> will be half-off. See what we mean?<br />
<br />
Head past the break for more XBLM release highlights for the month provided by Microsoft.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/04/xbox-live-marketplace-in-may-rocket-knight-dragon-age-dlc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox Live Marketplace in May: Rocket Knight, Dragon Age DLC and more</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/04/xbox-live-marketplace-in-may-rocket-knight-dragon-age-dlc/">Xbox Live Marketplace in May: Rocket Knight, Dragon Age DLC and more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 May 2010 16:03:00 EST. While the Xbox Live Deal of the Week is often reserved for ancient, unwanted DLC, this week's deal is worth considering. On sale this week for 400<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($5) -- 50 percent off the regular price -- is NinjaBee's <em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em>. The game tasks your Avatars with building a kingdom for tiny folk known as Keflings. In order to do so, you'll need to gather the proper materials and make sure that the economy keeps thrumming along. As an added bonus, you can play with up to four players on Xbox Live.<br />
<br />
Trust us when we say that <em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em> is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-a-kingdom-for-keflings/">pretty addictive</a>. Throw in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/kingdom-for-keflings-gets-new-kingdoms-next-week/">recently released DLC</a> -- two packs for 160<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($2) each -- and you've got plenty to keep yourself busy for a long time.<br />

<em><small>click to giant-size</small></em></div>
Good news for all the would-be Gullivers out there, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NinjaBee/">NinjaBee</a> has announced the first DLC for its Avatar-friendly economy sim, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/a-kingdom-for-keflings"><em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em></a>. Two DLC packs will be releasing next week on December 9 promising several new kingdoms in which to rule over your Keflings with a giant, iron fist. Kingdom Pack 1 will contain the Orchard Kingdom and Kingdom Crossroads, while Kingdom Pack 2 houses the Central Kingdom and Relic Kingdom. All the new maps provide twists on the original kingdom, though the press release notes that the Central Kingdom is recommended for more advanced players.<br />
<br />
NinjaBee hasn't announced a price yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime, enjoy some new screens, including maps of the new kingdoms, below.<br />

It appears that a disc compilation of NinjaBee's Xbox 360 DLC games is in the works for this fall. The <em>NinjaBee Critic's Choice Collection</em> announcement comes courtesy of a <a href="http://www.gamefly.com/game/xbox-360/NinjaBee-Critic%27s-Choice-Collection/139865/">GameFly post</a> which, if history serves us properly, are typically not speculative. The only thing that may be buzzing in our ear as bee-ing iffy is the release date of October 15.<br />

We've contacted <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NinjaBee/">NinjaBee</a> for confirmation, but were told that it couldn't provide us any information at this time. Although we're unaware of what games would be on the disc, NinjaBee's titles include: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/outpost-kaloki">Outpost Kaloki</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/a-kingdom-for-keflings">A Kingdom for Keflings</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/cloning-clyde">Cloning Clyde</a></em>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/band-of-bugs"><em>Band of Bugs</em></a> and many more. We're leaving the hive door open if the company wants to give us the buzz. <br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: Officially, the company stated it does not comment on rumor and speculation; we were also told to "watch carefully for an upcoming announcement." But, when explaining the company's philosophy, a representative said, "If we were to do something like that, we would want to pack as much as we can onto a disc ... we'd want to offer a good value there."<br />
<br />

<span style="font-style: italic;">Castle Crashers</span> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/24/castle-crashers-title-update-now-available-finally/">recovered</a> from a 4-month gimp to be crowned the Xbox Live Arcade "Game of the Year" in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/xbox-live-arcade-awards-voting-kicks-off-march-3/">second annual</a> community voting awards. Somewhat surprisingly, <span style="font-style: italic;">Castle Crashers</span> also managed to nab "Best Co-op Mode" despite being virtually unplayable online for four out of its seven months in release. On its way to top honors, The Behemoth's beat-em-up notably <span style="font-style: italic;">beat</span> out its fellow indie nominee, <span style="font-style: italic;">Braid,</span> which was famously <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/soulja-boy-tells-em-about-braid/">dismissed</a> by an American youth spokesperson.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Braid's</span> losing streak continued in the "Best Single Player Game" category, which was claimed by <em>Orange Box</em> cutout <em>Portal: Still Alive</em> (oh right, it has "exclusive" challenge maps), but Jonathan Blow's <em>timeless</em> effort did mange to win "Best Innovation" amid stiff competition. (We were certain<span style="font-style: italic;"> Kefling's</span> innovative "use of Avatars" was a shoo-in.)<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/xbla-awards-braid-cant-rewind-loss-to-castle-crashers/#winners">complete list</a> of awards and recipients is posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/xbla-awards-braid-cant-rewind-loss-to-castle-crashers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>XBLA Awards: Braid can't rewind loss to Castle Crashers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/xbla-awards-braid-cant-rewind-loss-to-castle-crashers/">XBLA Awards: Braid can't rewind loss to Castle Crashers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Mar 2009 18:52:00 EST. <br />At 800 Microsoft points, <em>A Kingdom of Keflings</em> is a city building sim where you play a giant who takes mini Keflings and <strike>demands</strike> firmly suggests what they should do to improve the cityscape. Microsoft is ushering in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NXE/">New Xbox Experience</a> with <em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em>, the first Xbox 360 title to feature playable, in-game Avatars -- as <em>GIANTS</em>, no less. Developed by NinjaBee, who <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/ninjabee-bringing-city-building-kingdom-for-keflings-to-xbla/">teased</a> the game in June, the city-building sim supports 4-player Xbox Live multiplayer and "works perfectly with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/29/video-tour-new-xbox-experience-exposed-page-3/#party-system">Xbox Live Party</a>" (we should hope so!). While you can carry and assign jobs to Keflings (uh, the game's tiny, humanoid slaves), we have yet to confirm the ability to use Keflings to poke out other Avatars' eyes. <div style="text-align: left;">In its latest video expos&eacute; on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/new-xbox-experience">New Xbox Experience</a>, the <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2008/10/31/nxeavtrsgmes.aspx">Gamerscore Blog</a> has teamed with Major Nelson and a few project insiders to show off how <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/avatars">Avatars</a> will work in several older XBLA titles. Specifically, <span style="font-style: italic;">Uno, <span style="font-style: italic;">Bomberman Blast</span></span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Hardwood Hearts</span>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Hardwood Spades</span> will all incorporate the virtual "yous" in various ways. <br /><br />In the case of these games, player Avatars will be visible on-screen - you can't actually <span style="font-style: italic;">play </span>as your Avatar in <span style="font-style: italic;">Bomberman</span>, sadly. The video <span style="font-style: italic;">does</span> show that players will be able to be ... themselves in the upcoming Ninjabee town building game, <span style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/a-kingdom-for-keflings">A Kingdom for Keflings</a>. </span>(This is likely the new title the Gamerscore crew refer to in their blog update.) <br /><br />A title update for <span style="font-style: italic;">Scene It? Box Office Smash </span>will roll out on Nov. 19 to enable in-game player Avatars (looks like the game didn't ship ready for NXE after all.) Check out the full video below the break.</div>

It appears NinjaBee is ready to talk a little about its upcoming city builder, <em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em>. Teasing the title in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/ninjabee-bringing-city-building-kingdom-for-keflings-to-xbla/">viral video</a> last month, the company finally gave some details to <a href="http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/892/892321p1.html">IGN</a>, details which make the game look and sound like a cross bee-tween <em>SimCity</em> and <em>Gulliver's Travels</em>.<br /><br />It appears the player takes on the roll of a Gulliver-esque character and must build a kingdom for the Keflings, with the final goal being to create a castle. The game features 50 buildings, a tech tree and optional quests. Isn't it interesting that all the different smaller-scale city builder games, like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hinterland">Hinterland</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/my-life-as-a-king/">My Life as a King</a>, are releasing this year? Check out video for <em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em> after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/07/23/simcity-lite-for-xbla-a-kingdom-for-keflings/">X3F</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/first-footage-of-a-kingdom-for-keflings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First footage of A Kingdom for Keflings</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/first-footage-of-a-kingdom-for-keflings/">First footage of A Kingdom for Keflings</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Jul 2008 01:00:00 EST. Raise your hands, don't be shy. Hmmm, more than we would've thought. Those familiar with the tale should remember the island of Lilliput (and its rival) which was the home of, well, tiny people. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/a-kingdom-for-keflings"><em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em></a> is rather similar in concept: you're a giant among insects (so to speak). From there the game concept adds in some dashes of <em>SimCity</em> and <em>Black &amp; White</em>, as the goal is simply to build a city and castle as well as attract more Keflings.<br /><br />While coming to us from the same devs who did <em>Band of Bugs, A Kingdom for Keflings</em> looks like it's doing things that we've all seen before. Hopefully Ninja Bee will find the sweet spot of city-building, avatar control, and simply watching the simulation play itself out, so that the game doesn't simply tread old ground.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/simcity-lite-for-xbla-a-kingdom-for-keflings/">SimCity Lite for XBLA? - A Kingdom for Keflings</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Jul 2008 01:30:00 EST. You can watch some of the Keflings' super helpful soda handiwork in the Ninja Bee produced video above. Interesting, no?<br /><br />Details are extremely light, but all you really need to know is that <em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em> is some sort of game that'll release this Fall, will feature "light-hearted gameplay with graphics and original music to match" and will somehow incorporate a bunch of three foot tall Keflings. Maybe it'll be an updated <em>Lemmings</em>-style game. Or maybe an elf simulator.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/ninja-bee-finds-a-kingdom-for-keflings/">Ninja Bee finds A Kingdom for Keflings</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008 13:00:00 EST.
