<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/the-ds-life/">The DS Life</a> is a weekly feature in which we scour the known world for narrative images of Nintendo's handheld and handheld gamers. If you have a photo and a story to match it with, send both to <strong>thedslife at gmail dot com</strong>.<br /><br />Sean Foreman mixes his advanced technical abilities as a photographer with post-processing effects to create images that almost seem magical in their composition. Check past the post break for a sample of his creative work and this week's edition of The DS Life.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/the-ds-life-crossing-into-reality/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The DS Life: Crossing into reality</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/the-ds-life-crossing-into-reality/">The DS Life: Crossing into reality</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jul 2007 22:15:00 EST. While the rest of you <em>suckers</em> are out looking like chumps with mismatched AC adapters, the more fashionable among us are rocking an $18 third-party power cord in the same color as our DS Lite.<br /><br />We'll leave it to you to decide if, considering that Nintendo <a href="http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&amp;storeId=10001&amp;langId=-1&amp;currency=USD&amp;ignoreCrumbs=N&amp;crumb1=%253CA%2BHREF%253D%2522javascript%253APassOn%2528%2527C%2527%252C%2B%2527CategoryDisplay%2527%252C%252762205%2527%252C%2B%2527N%2527%2529%253B%2522%253EDS%253C%252FA%253E&amp;crumb1Ignore=&amp;crumb2=%253CA%2BHREF%253D%2522javascript%253APassOn%2528%2527X%2527%252C%2B%2527ChooseView%2527%252C%2527%2527%252C%2B%2527%2527%2529%253B%2522%253ENintendo%2BDS%2BLite%253C%252FA%253E&amp;crumb2Ignore=&amp;crumb3=&amp;crumb3Ignore=&amp;translateFrom=%C8%C9%C7&amp;translateTo=EEC&amp;usrSearchText=&amp;searchText=&amp;selSrchType=&amp;page=&amp;view=&amp;productId=&amp;categoryId=62209&amp;lastAction=CategoryDisplay&amp;orderTotal=null">sells their official AC adapter for $9.95</a>, it's worth the extra money to get <em>extremely minor</em> home decorating assistance from Toytech. In play it was more about walking around town chatting with people.<br /><br />Sound like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/animalcrossing">anything you know</a>? It did to <span>Eric-Jon R&ouml;ssel Waugh, as well, and his feature on GameCareerGuide is an excellently in-depth discussion of the open-ended, generally optional gameplay found in both games. It'll make you appreciate <em>Animal Crossing</em> more than you already do. <br /><br />And since we're probably not going to get another chance to mention <em>Shenmue</em> on DS Fanboy, we'd like to suggest that anyone looking for a neat <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/adventure/">adventure</a> game/<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/RPG/">RPG</a> would do well to pick up a Dreamcast and a copy of the game. It's not everyone's favorite, but we couldn't have loved it more.<br /><br /></span>[Via <a href="http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2007/05/why_animal_crossing_is_shenmue.php">GameSetWatch</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/02/animal-crossing-is-shenmue-without-the-plot/">Animal Crossing is 'Shenmue without the plot'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 May 2007 12:25:00 EST. A TV <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commercial">commercial</a> advertising the game has been airing in the UK, and we were surprise to see how similar its presentation is to Nintendo's commercials for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/animalcrossing">Animal Crossing: Wild World</a></em> in Japan and Europe.<br /><br /><em>AC:WW</em> was an indisputable success sales-wise in every territory, so we can see why Nintendo would want to mimic its marketing push with <em>Harvest Moon DS</em>. The cause of the blacklisting of the game? <br />
<br />
Well, turns out that the students who were going to the computer labs for math or what have you were using the internet-enabled computers to search for tips and tricks on the game, throwing up a red flag with the administration.What's interesting is that the announcement banned the game in school, not the use of the internet. Oh well, we're sure that won't last once the kids learn what the internet is <em>really </em><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWEjvCRPrCo">for</a> ...<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/01/animal-crossing-forbidden-in-japanese-school/">Animal Crossing forbidden in Japanese school</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 17:00:00 EST. This information was contained in Ubisoft's quarterly earnings report, along with the announcement of a sequel to the massively popular <em>Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter</em>. There is some more good news here, too. <em>GRAW</em> <em>2 </em>is apparently set to release in the first half of 2007. The delay of <em>Assassin's Creed</em> is upsetting to be sure, but <em>GRAW 2</em> makes a damned fine replacement. <em> </em>Still, we're <em>very</em> excited to see <em>Assassin's Creed</em> and we hope that it comes out sooner rather than later.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xboxic.com/news/1857">Xboxic</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/24/assassins-creed-bia-pushed-back-graw2-coming/">Assassin's Creed, BIA pushed back, GRAW2 coming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Oct 2006 15:30:00 EST. If you've been following the game, the website won't show you anything new. Still, there is plenty of content there. There are plenty of downloads including screenshots, wallpapers, icons, webkits, and a screensaver. It's worth noting that the site retains the occasional digital glitching that pops up in the trailers, hinting at the rumored futuristic plot twist. Also worth noting is the unintentional bugginess of the site. I wasn't able to get any of the wallpapers, and the links to all the full size screenshots were broken, as was the link to developer diaries. It's not because of heavy traffic either, the links just don't work. Kind of shocking for such a high profile game, no?<br />

Pictured at right is the latest cover for 360 Magazine, a British rag that covers, you guessed it, the Xbox 360. The letter read:<br /><br />"<em>Dear K-Man,<br /> Nothing says summer like camping and playing Animal Crossing under the stars! Now go outside!<br /> From Nintendo</em>"<br /><br />The attached gift was a sleeping bag. Kev, being the excellent and most-organized <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tips">tipster</a> he could possibly be, also attached some pictures of said sleeping bag. He apologizes for the quality of his webcam and adds the question "is it just me or does that look like a Master Chief sleeping bag?" We're stumped because, frankly, we've never heard of this <em>Master Chief</em>.<br /><br />Click the link to check out more pictures in greater sizes.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/28/nintendo-celebrates-summer-nights-in-animal-crossing/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo celebrates summer nights in Animal Crossing</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/28/nintendo-celebrates-summer-nights-in-animal-crossing/">Nintendo celebrates summer nights in Animal Crossing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 28 Jul 2006 10:00:00 EST.
