When the game was announced last year, all we knew about it was that it featured co-op action and some groovy graphical flairs, but now we're seeing how <em>Citadel</em> relates to its big role-playing brother.<br /><br />Players will be able to play as three characters at a time, picked from four character classes (including a Khukuri Shaman, an Ancarian Ranger, a Safiri Warrior, or an unrevealed class), and each has their own set of skills to be leveled up and unlocked. Additionally, characters can equip weapons or armor that can be stashed in town, or pop potions to refill either a health or a power meter.<br /><br /><em>Sacred Citadel</em>, says Deep Silver, will serve as a prologue to the upcoming <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/sacred-3"><em>Sacred 3</em></a>, and should be out for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and the PC sometime this year.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/28/sacred-citadel-will-feature-four-classes-to-level-up-and-a-gear/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sacred Citadel will feature four classes to level up and a gear stash</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/28/sacred-citadel-will-feature-four-classes-to-level-up-and-a-gear/">Sacred Citadel will feature four classes to level up and a gear stash</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Feb 2013 05:00:00 EST. Don't believe us? This weekend is your chance to find out for free, as the game is <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/8905/">free-to-play until Sunday over on Steam</a>. For the cost of your bandwidth and an hour or so of downloading, you can take a trip to Steelport, and be both disgusted and thrilled at the same time.<br /><br />And if you like the game as much as we did, you can <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/55230/">buy it on Steam for just $13.59</a>, 66% off of the standard price. This one's not for the kids, but it is as much fun as you'll have flying around in a hovercraft all year long.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/21/saints-row-the-third-free-to-play-on-sale-this-weekend-on-stea/">Saints Row: The Third free to play, on sale this weekend on Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Sep 2012 20:30:00 EST. This success has enabled Zen to expand its creative department and develop a wide range of games for varying platforms.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kickbeat"><em>KickBeat</em></a>, for example, is a music-based crossover action title for Vita that throws a brilliant twist into the tired rhythm genre. It combines the quick dexterity of classic rhythm games with a few of the industry's favorite tropes and trends: fighting and ninjas.<br /><br />The most noticeable fad that Zen Studios doesn't integrate in <em>KickBeat</em> also happens to be the game's best feature: It has absolutely no touchscreen or rear touchpad functions.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/16/the-zen-of-kickbeat/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Zen of KickBeat</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/16/the-zen-of-kickbeat/">The Zen of KickBeat</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Aug 2012 20:30:00 EST. Giger's creations terrorizing marines, and a little behind-the-scenes on the upcoming release. The trailer talks about both the tension buildup that's so important to the <em>Aliens</em> franchise, and the freedom that Gearbox had to both make use of the movie's most familiar locations, and also create their own in new and interesting ways.<br /> <br /> Oh, and there are some weirdly extraneous "action" shots of the game's creative team, mixed in among the commentary and game videos. Gearbox's Chief Creative Officer Brian Martel is a standout offender on that one. Nice hat tip there, bud.</div></center><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/15/aliens-colonial-marines-trailer-is-looking-stylish/">Aliens: Colonial Marines trailer is looking stylish</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Aug 2012 05:00:00 EST. Avalanche Studios is hiring for multiple projects on both current consoles and the next generation - even two games based on film and comic properties - due in 2013 and 2014. One game we knew about: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/avalanche-studios-opens-nyc-studio-working-on-project-mamba-f/">Project Mamba</a>.<br /><br />Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is <em>Just Cause 3</em> - Square Enix has picked up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/square-enix-registers-domains-for-just-cause-4-despite-lack-of/">some curious domains</a> on top of publishing the first two <em>Just Cause</em> games, and Avalanche has publicly said it would <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/30/you-shouldnt-be-surprised-if-just-cause-3-is-announced/">love to continue working on the franchise</a>. With multiple projects in the works, one of them could be a sequel to 2010's outing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/31/just-cause-dev-working-on-another-open-world-action-game/">Just Cause dev working on another open-world action game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 May 2012 01:00:00 EST. Details are now sidling out, as noted by <a href="http://www.4gamer.net/games/151/G015112/20120330031/">4gamer</a> and translated by <a href="http://andriasang.com/con0ho/crystal_conquest_details/">Andriasang</a>:<br /><br /><em>Crystal Conquest</em> is a side-scroller with characters shifting between two planes of play, it uses mouse controls only, and it has four classes: Warrior, Scout, Priest and Sorcerer. The goal is to destroy the enemy's home base before time runs out or the enemy destroys yours. At the end of the match, damage and enemies killed are added up and the winner crowned. The battle edifices are called Arrow Tower, Crystals and Summons Facilities, and the title will include classic Square Enix summons functions.<br /><br />The full list of <em>Crystal Conquest</em> details and a few high-res screens can be peeped <a href="http://andriasang.com/con0ho/crystal_conquest_details/">right here</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/03/square-enix-summons-a-class-based-action-title-in-crystal-conque/">Square Enix summons a class-based action title in Crystal Conquest</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Apr 2012 18:30:00 EST. All right, but we warned you:<br /><br />Capcom UK Marketing head Dave Turner said Resident Evil wants to tap into the Call of Duty market with its coming titles, noting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city"><em>Operation Raccoon City</em></a> in particular: "The dream would be that the millions of Call of Duty fans that are enjoying these fast-paced online games are attracted to this Resident Evil," Turner said.<br /><br />Resident Evil has attracted more players since incorporating more action, with <em>Resident Evil 5</em> leading the charge, Turner said. "We've seen the popularity of Resident Evil increase massively as the series became more action oriented -- <em>Resident Evil 5 </em>is the biggest seller in the series," he said. "So, it makes sense for us to follow this action area more fully."<br /><br />Turner was speaking mostly with <em>Operation Raccoon City </em>in mind, it sounds like, although the trailer for <em>Resident Evil 6</em> doesn't make it look like the riddle-ridden games of yore.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/20/written-in-the-s-t-a-r-s-capcom-dreams-of-cod-fans-playing-res/">Written in the S.T.A.R.S.: Capcom dreams of CoD fans playing Resident Evil</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jan 2012 21:00:00 EST. We'll admit that the premise of Sega's new cover-based shooter <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/binary-domain"><em>Binary Domain</em></a> by <em>Yakuza</em> boss <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toshihiro-nagoshi">Toshihiro Nagoshi</a> -- man versus machine -- isn't the most immediately compelling, but this new trailer makes its nuances sound pretty cool. That is if you can get past the absolutely bored-sounding narrator.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/binary-domain-trailer-will-bore-you-with-story-details/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Binary Domain trailer terminates after the rise of the machines</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/binary-domain-trailer-will-bore-you-with-story-details/">Binary Domain trailer terminates after the rise of the machines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jun 2011 20:30:00 EST. Don't pay more for '<em>spore</em> -- at least that's Steam's motto of the day, as it puts the Maxis developer action-RPG hybrid <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/darkspore"><em>Darkspore</em></a> on sale for 40 percent off its normal asking price. From now through 4PM PST / 7PM EST on Thursday, June 16, the PC-only title is <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/99890/">going for $30</a>, down 20 bucks from the MSRP. Steam is also offering an eight-pack of the multiplayer-enabled game for $90, normally $150.<br />
<br />
Our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/03/darkspore-review/">review said</a> that <em>Darkspore</em> was <em>all right</em>, but had "a lot of room for improvement." Now at least one way to improve it has been addressed: <em>make it cheaper.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/steam-darkspore-40-off-for-midweek-madness/">Steam: Darkspore 40% off for Midweek Madness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Jun 2011 19:40:00 EST. The Official PlayStation Blog has announced a brand new title called <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/payday-the-heist"><em>Payday: The Heist</em></a>, a downloadable first-person shooter for PSN built around a series of six high-stakes robberies. With AI or fellow co-op players, you'll <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/117/1172439p1.html">charge into banks, prisons, and armored cars</a> to get the goods and get out as <em>alive</em> as possible. The graphics look ... serviceable, but there's supposed to be some depth here too, with three classes to play with, and an experience-based upgrade system to unlock new weapons and other accessories.<br />
<br />
The game's being developed by Overkill Software, and all we know about them is they're run by Bo Andersson, a Swedish developer from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRIN_%28company%29">Grin</a>, the company that developed <em>Bionic Command: Rearmed </em>and the PC ports for <em>Tom Clancy's GRAW</em> and its sequel. So there's a little pedigree here to begin with. We'll have to see how the game looks in full action later next week at E3.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/payday-the-heist-announced-hopes-to-steal-your-free-time-on-ps/">Payday: The Heist announced, hopes to steal your free time on PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Jun 2011 18:40:00 EST. Sucker Punch wants to reward its fans for being especially good ... or especially bad. <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/117/1170993p1.html">IGN reports</a> that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infamous-2"><em>InFamous 2</em></a> offers an option to import Trophy data from the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infamous"><em>InFamous</em></a>, which is then turned into starting bonuses in Cole McGrath's new adventure.<br />
<br />
We've got a rundown of what your Trophies are worth in the sequel after the break -- starting XP bumps and the like -- but the most interesting bit of info is that having unlocked specific story-related Trophies will actually alter the dialog and side missions in <em>InFamous 2</em>. We'd tell you what they are, but then <em>you'd</em> have to kill <em>us</em>. And also, we <em>don't know</em>, because IGN didn't say.<br />
<br />
Of course, you could also look at this feature as one big morality test: Will you be a goodie two shoes and choose not to import your data, or do it and effectively use a "cheat" right at the start of the game?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/27/infamous-2-imports-your-infamous-trophy-data-to-grant-rewards-a/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>InFamous 2 imPorts your inFamous Trophy data to grant rewards, alter story</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/27/infamous-2-imports-your-infamous-trophy-data-to-grant-rewards-a/">InFamous 2 imPorts your inFamous Trophy data to grant rewards, alter story</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 May 2011 15:00:00 EST. There's nothing funny about a disturbed young girl clutching a giant butcher knife -- <em>especially</em> if she's near death and her Hysteria meter is full. When those morbid criteria are met, the star of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/alice-madness-returns"><em>Alice: Madness Returns</em></a> can launch into a psychotic frenzy that would <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/25/rumor-ninja-gaiden-3-loses-the-store-may-add-move-support/">make Ryu Hayabusa proud</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/alice-madness-returns-screens-are-hysterical/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Alice: Madness Returns screens are hysterical</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/alice-madness-returns-screens-are-hysterical/">Alice: Madness Returns screens are hysterical</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 May 2011 20:30:00 EST. Twisted Pixel is taking a page from the script of TV's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Science_Theater_3000"><em>Mystery Science Theater 3000</em></a> -- and its web heir, <a href="http://www.rifftrax.com">Rifftrax</a> -- for some of the bonus content in its upcoming Kinect shooter, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-gunstringer"><em>The Gunstringer</em></a>. Designer Dan Teasdale dropped the news <a href="http://twistedpixelgames.com/wordpress/2011/05/24/twitter-questions/">on the developer's blog</a>, saying that the team was inspired to create "full commentary for the entire game" by the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq6U6rBF8kk">spirited online riffing</a> given to <em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em> (2006).<br />
<br />
"It's not just us talking about making the game," Teasdale says of the commentary. "Much like how some of the best Rifftrax are the ones that have special guests, we've asked some special friends of ours to comment on specific plays in the game." The identities of the guests may be a secret, but we already know one possible candidate: Troma's Lloyd Kaufman, who's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/02/toxic-avenger-creator-lloyd-kaufman-joins-the-gunstringer-cast/">already been signed</a> to play the role of a reporter in the game's live-action sequences.<br />
<br />
Of course, the developer <em>could</em> go all out and get the master of riffing, <em>MST3K</em> and Rifftrax's <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/michaeljnelson">Michael J. Nelson</a>, to contribute -- something sure to get fans of his work all <em>MSTy-eyed</em>. Whoever's involved in them, the commentary tracks will be unlocked using in-game currency, after which, Teasdale says, "you'll be given the option to turn on the soothing voices of either us, or (more likely) our awesome special guests!"<br />

<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise">No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise</a></em> is cutting a bloody path to North America for an August 16 launch. The PlayStation Move-enabled title will be available tomorrow in Europe; a non-Move version with the same title hit Japan last year.<br />
<br />
Konami <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/20/no-more-heroes-red-zone-packs-move-controls-new-material-in-ja/">reiterated</a> that the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/20/no-more-heroes-red-zone-packs-move-controls-new-material-in-ja/"><em>No More Heroes: Red Zone</em></a> for Japan simply adds Move support and is the same game as the Western version of <em>Heroes' Paradise</em>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-1-4-10/">No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise (1/4/10)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-1-4-10/#3738340"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/nmhss001r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-1-4-10/#3738341"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/nmhss003r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-1-4-10/#3738342"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/nmhss006r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-1-4-10/#3738343"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/nmhss009r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-1-4-10/#3738344"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/01/nmhss011r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/19/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-coming-august-16-to-north-ameri/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise coming August 16 to North America</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/19/no-more-heroes-heroes-paradise-coming-august-16-to-north-ameri/">No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise coming August 16 to North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 May 2011 18:30:00 EST. The world of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter"><em>Monster Hunter</em></a> will spread to another platform in June, franchise creator Capcom has announced. <em>Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting</em> is in development for iOS devices and will offer a "new intuitive control system...eschewing the typical D-pad" -- i.e., finger swipes and taps. It all looks a bit <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infinity-blade">Infinity Blade</a></em>-ish<em> </em>to us.<br />
<br />
That's it for details, though more are sure to be revealed at next month's E3 ... just in time for the game to leap onto the App Store.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/monster-hunter-dynamic-hunting/">Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting (5/18/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/monster-hunter-dynamic-hunting/#4146002"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/img0122_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/monster-hunter-dynamic-hunting/#4146003"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/img0123_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/monster-hunter-dynamic-hunting/#4146004"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/img0124_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/18/capcom-unleashing-monster-hunter-dynamic-hunting-on-ios-devices/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Capcom unleashing Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting on iOS devices next month</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/18/capcom-unleashing-monster-hunter-dynamic-hunting-on-ios-devices/">Capcom unleashing Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting on iOS devices next month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 May 2011 22:00:00 EST. Calling it a "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena" (MOBA) title, Ronimo Games has announced its latest creation, <em>Awesomenauts</em>. Destined for XBLA and PSN release, the game is "inspired by '80s animated series" and, though details are slim, appears to be a <em>Smash Bros. </em>style brawler<em>.</em><br />
<br />
Ronimo<em> </em>made its debut last year with the side-scrolling RTS title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/swords-and-soldiers"><em>Swords &amp; Soldiers</em></a> for WiiWare, PSN and Steam. <em>Awesomenauts</em> will make its playable debut at E3 next month.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts/">Awesomenauts (5/18/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts/#4145893"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/awesomenauts01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts/#4145894"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/awesomenauts02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts/#4145895"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/awesomenauts03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts/#4321629"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/4799characterrenderlonestar_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/18/awesomenauts-fights-its-way-to-xbla-and-psn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Awesomenauts fights its way to XBLA and PSN</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/18/awesomenauts-fights-its-way-to-xbla-and-psn/">Awesomenauts fights its way to XBLA and PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 May 2011 21:00:00 EST. The next big content update for Chair Entertainment's epic iOS sword battler, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infinity-blade"><em>Infinity Blade</em></a>, comes out swinging this Thursday, May 19. By far the most notable addition, the new Arena Mode introduces 1v1 multiplayer combat via Game Center.<br />
<br />
Also making the cut is Survivor Mode, which challenges players to last as long as possible in an endless gauntlet of Titan battles. A variety of new weapons and items are also being introduced, including special holiday-themed helms. Finally, <em>Infinity Blade</em> will gain Facebook integration with the update, enabling players to take and share screenshots of their characters through a streamlined process.<br />
<br />
The "Arena" update will be free of charge and, if past Thursday releases on the App Store are any indication, will actually roll out in North America this Wednesday night around 11:30PM ET.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/infinity-blade-arena-update-adds-multiplayer-survivor-modes-t/">Infinity Blade 'Arena' update adds multiplayer, survivor modes this Thursday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 May 2011 16:30:00 EST. You've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/13/starhawk-preview/">read about it</a> -- now see <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/warhawk">Warhawk</a>'s </em>successor, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/starhawk">Starhawk</a>,</em> in action in this developer video featuring LightBox Interactive boss Dylan Jobe. Using plenty of gameplay footage, he breaks down the new universe, "build and battle" strategy elements and, of course, transforming jets -- er, Hawks.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/13/starhawk-gameplay-footage-highlights-build-and-battle-features/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Starhawk gameplay footage highlights 'build and battle' features</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/13/starhawk-gameplay-footage-highlights-build-and-battle-features/">Starhawk gameplay footage highlights 'build and battle' features</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 May 2011 15:30:00 EST. Watch as famous game designers <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/suda-51">Goichi Suda</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shinji-mikami">Shinji Mikami</a> pretend to strangle each another, act like zombies and generally goof off. Remember that scene in <em>Aliens</em> where Ripley tapes together the pulse rifle and flamethrower? Now imagine doing that with five guns. That's the concept behind <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/serious-sam-double-d">Serious Sam: Double D</a>'s</em> weapon stacking mechanic -- and it looks as cool as it sounds.<br />
<br />
Designer Nathan Fouts of Mommy's Best Games (Xbox indies <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/weapon-of-choice"><em>Weapon of Choice</em></a>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shoot-1up">Shoot 1UP</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/explosionade"><em>Explosionade</em></a>) has posted a look at the inner workings of the Gun Stacker system on the developer's blog. It explains the mixing and matching of firearms from top to bottom, from finding hidden weapons and the requisite Gun Stacker arms, to the interface used to bolt them together -- there are even some dev tips for ... <em>interesting</em> combinations.<br />
<br />
Try as we may, we haven't been able to successfully stack chainsaws, tommy guns and grenade launchers onto our laptops after reading the post, but you can see how crazy it would look (minus the laptop) in the gallery below.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-double-d-4-25-11/">Serious Sam: Double D (4/25/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-double-d-4-25-11/#4086112"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/serious-sam-double-d-gunstacker-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-double-d-4-25-11/#4086113"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/serious-sam-double-d-gunstacker-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-double-d-4-25-11/#4086114"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/serious-sam-double-d-gunstacker-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/25/seriously-wild-serious-sam-double-d-screens-gun-stacking-detai/">Seriously wild Serious Sam: Double D screens, Gun Stacking details</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Apr 2011 14:30:00 EST. This is one of those times when we'd normally bemoan the "re-imagining" of classic games, but Atari's freshly announced rebirth of legendary trackball-based shooter <em>Centipede, </em>for 3DS and Wii, has us holding onto hope because of its developer. Due this fall, the title has been placed into the (capable) hands of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wayforward">WayForward Technologies</a>, which has brought us the likes of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/contra-4"><em>Contra 4</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/a-boy-and-his-blob"><em>A Boy and His Blob</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Granted, <em>Centipede: Infestation</em> is definitely more of a reinterpretation of the original than either of those titles. It's evolved into a story-driven action game with dual-stick shooter mechanics, casting players as a orphaned boy in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. He's joined by a female partner character who possesses the ability to make plants grow -- exactly how that ability will translate into gameplay hasn't been fully revealed. Two-player co-op is planned on console and handheld, with the latter supporting local wireless play and StreetPass functionality.<br />
<br />
Based on the first gameplay footage released by Atari and WayForward's track record, we're unusually optimistic about this one. Check it out for yourself after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/19/centipede-infestation-invades-3ds-and-wii-this-fall/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Centipede: Infestation invades 3DS and Wii this fall</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/19/centipede-infestation-invades-3ds-and-wii-this-fall/">Centipede: Infestation invades 3DS and Wii this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Apr 2011 18:30:00 EST. Rebellion's supernatural action title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/neverdead"><em>NeverDead</em></a>, has a unique hook: Its main character can fight even when his limbs have been severed. Part <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/devil-may-cry-4"><em>Devil May Cry</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/bayonetta"><em>Bayonetta</em></a> and even <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dead-to-rights-retribution"><em>Dead to Rights</em></a>, it also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/neverdead-screens-4-12-11/#/13">seems to share</a> <em>Splatterhouse's</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/19/shot-happens-splatterhouse-screen-is-the-butt-of-our-jokes/">sphincter fixation</a>. Crime and drama are present and accounted for in the latest trailer for Rockstar and Team Bondi's noir crime drama <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/la-noire"><em>L.A. Noire</em></a>. So is another well-known addition to the cast: <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0633604/">John Noble</a>, who plays Dr. Walter Bishop on Fox's sci-fi series <em>Fringe</em> (and was Denethor in the third <em>Lord of the Rings</em> film).<br />
<br />
Noble and the rest of the cast are looking better than ever in this new footage that seems to show the game in its most current form -- one in which the characters' facial animation is still fantastic, but looks much more refined (and thus <em>way</em> less creepy). There's probably, oh, a second or two of <em>actual</em> gameplay, but what do you expect ... it's a Rockstar trailer.<br />
<br />
Investigate it for yourself after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/07/deceit-drugs-and-detective-work-come-together-in-new-l-a-noire/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deceit, drugs and detective work come together in new L.A. It was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/17/valve-making-portal-2-ads-on-its-own/">just this morning</a> that we were reporting on Valve's plans to handle all of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/portal-2"><em>Portal 2's </em></a>advertising in-house, and now here we are, watching the first TV commercial for the game. It stars Atlas and P-body, the robotic co-op characters, who quickly learn how seriously GLaDOS wants to play.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/17/portal-2-commercial/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GLaDOS puts robots to the test in first Portal 2 commercial</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/17/portal-2-commercial/">GLaDOS puts robots to the test in first Portal 2 commercial</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Mar 2011 18:50:00 EST. Described by its developer as a mix of pinball and brick-breaking, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/stardrone"><em>StarDrone</em></a> finally has a launch date for North America of April 5, 2011. Already available in Europe, the title is designed with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/playstation-move">PlayStation Move</a> in mind -- players aim at "hubs" and fire a cable to latch onto them -- but its creator, the Ukraine's Beatshapers, says it can be played just fine with a DualShock 3.<br />
<br />
You can get a much better feel for <em>StarDrone's</em> momentum-based gameplay in the new video after the break. The game will retail for $7.99, or $4.99 for PlayStation Plus subscribers.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/stardrone-slingshots-onto-psn-april-5-with-move-support/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>StarDrone slingshots onto PSN April 5 with Move support</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/stardrone-slingshots-onto-psn-april-5-with-move-support/">StarDrone slingshots onto PSN April 5 with Move support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Mar 2011 23:00:00 EST. Re-introduced in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/16/dead-island-is-back-with-haunting-debut-trailer-deep-silver-to/">one of the most memorable trailers</a> in recent years, Techland's undead-filled action game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dead-island"><em>Dead Island</em></a> was looking great when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/03/dead-island-preview/">we saw it at GDC</a>. Now the dev has dropped three new shots of its blood-soaked environments and a giant zombie in a straight jacket. As promised <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/01/infamous-2-lets-you-play-create-share-your-own-missions-publi/">during GDC 2011</a>, Sucker Punch has delivered the specifics on its beta test of user-generated content creation for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infamous-2"><em>InFamous 2</em></a>. Beginning now and running through March 21, those interested in taking part can sign up at <a href="http://www.infamousthegame.com">infamousthegame.com</a> to get the chance -- the developer will choose an unspecified number of applicants at random, who will begin receiving beta vouchers in "early April."<br />
<br />
Since this is technically a sweepstakes, there are a couple of hoops to jump through at the site -- such as re-registering if you're already signed up there and, er, <em>opting into the contest</em> -- but once that's handled you need only sit back and hope that the Sucker Punchers smile upon you.<br />
<br />
The best user-created missions from the beta will be featured as "Sucker Punch Selections" when the game launches on June 7. Check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/01/infamous-2-preview/">our UGC preview</a> for more on what to expect in the beta.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/14/infamous-2-user-generated-content-beta-signups-now-open/">inFamous 2 user-generated content beta signups now open</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Mar 2011 16:30:00 EST. Ohio-born indie rock group <a href="http://www.americanmary.com/">The National</a> has officially become <em>video game famous</em>. The band, responsible for such tunes as "Bloodbuzz Ohio" and "Conversation 16" (video after the break), will be lending its sound to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/portal-2"><em>Portal 2</em></a> with a new song written expressly for the game. <p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/11/the-national-contributing-new-song-to-portal-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The National contributing new song to Portal 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/11/the-national-contributing-new-song-to-portal-2/">The National contributing new song to Portal 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Mar 2011 23:00:00 EST. Subtlety has never been a strong point of <em>Saints Row</em>. For its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/02/saints-row-the-third-landing-on-360-ps3-and-pc-in-holiday-2011/">third outing</a>, THQ's sandbox action series is escalating the "our game is more ridiculous than yours" factor by introducing new weapons like air strikes, Predator drones and ... a "sex toy bat."<br />
<br />
In its latest look at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/saints-row-the-third"><em>Saints Row: The Third</em></a>, Game Informer <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/03/09/the-weapons-of-saints-row-the-third.aspx">reveals</a> that in addition to the ability to tag any car in the game and drive it remotely -- perfect for getting rival gangs in hot water, apparently -- players will get to wield a huge, wiggly faux willy capable of reducing enemies (and bystanders) to a bloody pulp with a single hit.<br />

There's also a much deeper weapon upgrade system in the works, not that you're even still reading this.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/10/saints-row-the-third-weapons-get-x-rated/">Saints Row: The Third weapons get X-rated</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Mar 2011 21:30:00 EST. Beat-'em-ups are woefully under-represented on the App Store, but one of the genre's earliest classics has arrived to help fill the void. Enter the ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/double-dragon-ios"><em>Double Dragon</em></a>. Aksys Games has released Taito's seminal scrapper in updated form, compliments of developer Brizo Interactive, for an "introductory price" of $3.99 -- steep, yes, but set to increase to $7.99 at an unspecified point.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/doubledragon/id419495028?mt=8">App Store</a> reviews of the game -- which is ported from the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeebo">Zeebo</a> platform -- are mixed so far, with most complaints focused on the unnecessarily large (and opaque) "control panel." Still, it's said to be faithful to the original's gameplay and features multiple unlockable characters. See Billy and Jimmy get their clobber on after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/double-dragon-punches-ios-in-the-gut/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Double Dragon punches iOS in the gut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/double-dragon-punches-ios-in-the-gut/">Double Dragon punches iOS in the gut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Mar 2011 23:59:00 EST. There's good reason to pay attention to Moonshot Games. The operation, which spans two studios in Boston and Seattle, is helmed by some prolific ex-Bungie stars. Three members of the Moonshot crew have hand their hands on Microsoft's FPS: Managing Director Michel Bastien worked as a producer on the first three <em>Halo</em> games at Bungie, Director of Technology Dami&aacute;n Isla worked on developing AI for <em>Halo 2</em> and <em>3</em> and Creative Director Rob Stokes was the Design Lead of <em>Halo 3</em>.<br />
<br />
The studio's first title, <em>Fallen Frontier</em>, will be making its debut at PAX East this week and it promises to "leverage the very best design principles" from the team's combined experience on the <em>Halo</em> franchise. The arcade action of the game's first trailer certainly makes it seem like "<em>Halo</em> in 2D." We'll find out more when we get our hands on the game this weekend.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fallen-frontier/">Fallen Frontier</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fallen-frontier/#3953059"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/fallenfrontierss01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fallen-frontier/#3953060"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/fallenfrontierss02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fallen-frontier/#3953061"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/fallenfrontierss03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fallen-frontier/#3953062"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/fallenfrontierss04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fallen-frontier/#3953063"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/fallenfrontierss05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/bungie-offshoot-moonshot-games-sets-off-for-the-fallen-frontier/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bungie offshoot Moonshot Games sets off for the Fallen Frontier</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/bungie-offshoot-moonshot-games-sets-off-for-the-fallen-frontier/">Bungie offshoot Moonshot Games sets off for the Fallen Frontier</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Mar 2011 18:55:00 EST. Nothing says "Hey, it's Monday!" like murderous teapots and bloodthirsty playing cards. It's fortunate, then, that this first gameplay trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/alice-madness-returns"><em>Alice: Madness Returns</em></a> has them -- and more! -- in droves. Watch it, then learn more about the game tomorrow morning in our new preview.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/alice-madness-returns-gameplay-trailer-is-no-tea-party/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Alice: Madness Returns gameplay trailer is no tea party</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/07/alice-madness-returns-gameplay-trailer-is-no-tea-party/">Alice: Madness Returns gameplay trailer is no tea party</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Mar 2011 15:30:00 EST. You may know French game designer Paul Cuisset from what is widely considered his masterwork, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flashback:_The_Quest_for_Identity"><em>Flashback</em></a>, an adventure game released by Delphine Software in 1992. You might also know him from his work on what is widely considered to be a really bad game ... <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaq_Fu"><em>Shaq Fu</em></a>. Cuisset is no doubt hoping that his latest project, a PSN-exclusive action game called <em>Amy</em>, has little in common with the latter.<br />
<br />
In development at VectorCell, a sub-division of Flash and mobile game company Lexis Num&eacute;rique, the planned Q2 2011 title, as described by UK site <a href="http://www.electronictheatre.co.uk/index.php/playstation3/playstation3-news/7345-flashback-creator-presents-new-playstation-3-exclusive-amy">Electronic Theatre</a>, stars a female protagonist named Lana (not Amy -- twist!), who, along with a young girl named Amy (ah, there we go), must escape from the fictional Silver City. The town's been struck by a meteorite and has, as a result, become overrun by mutated humans -- and the special forces battling them.<br />
<br />
The synopsis sounds like the makings of a survival-horror game, but no actual gameplay specifics have been detailed. Still, we're intrigued to see what Cuisset can do with what could easily be just another zombie game concept.<br />

You <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/the-gunstringer-preview/">read about it yesterday</a>, now see Twisted Pixel's latest game (its first for Kinect) in action ... all its puppet-filled, wavy arm guy action. Back at E3 2010 we learned that Tetsuya Mizuguchi's latest creation -- <em>Child of Eden</em>, the spiritual successor to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rez"><em>Rez</em></a> -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/mizuguchi-child-of-eden-to-support-standard-controllers/">can be played using a standard controller</a>, not just the Kinect sensor for which it's become a showcase title. Last night at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/microsoft-february-showcase-2011">Microsoft's preview event</a> in San Francisco, we found out that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/child-of-eden">Child of Eden</a> </em>can use 360 pads, <em>plural</em>, for more than aiming and shooting.<br />
<br />
A rep for developer Q Entertainment told Joystiq that the finished game will support vibration feedback effects spread across up to four controllers, the idea being that you can stick them in pockets, rolled-up sleeves -- <em>anywhere</em>, really -- to <em>&uuml;ber</em>-compensate for Kinect's lack of physical feedback. Mizuguchi himself told us "When I play the Kinect, I need some feedback" at last year's E3. It would appear that he's devised a quite novel, if not a bit absurd, way to satisfy that need -- not to mention out-crazy <em>Rez's</em> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rez#Trance_Vibrator">Trance Vibrator</a> peripheral.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/25/child-of-eden-supports-four-controllers-for-full-body-feedback/">Child of Eden supports four controllers for full-body feedback</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Feb 2011 15:20:00 EST. <em>"I am have destruct!!! Always be prepare!"</em> - Explodemon<br />

The titular character of Curve Studios' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/01/explodemon-blows-up-on-wiiware-psn-in-2009/">long-in-development</a> platformer is a little ... special. Like its hero, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/explodemon"><em>Explodemon</em></a> isn't the smartest game around. It isn't the prettiest, nor is it the most polished either. But, it does have one thing to spare: heart.<br />
<br />
Design director Jonathan Biddle has <span class="no-bottom-margin">described <em>Explodemon</em> as "a loving homage to SNES-era Japanese action games" -- and it nails the vibe, Engrish included. Within seconds of loading the game, you'll be transported to the '90s, with B-quality dialogue juxtaposed atop manga-styled panels. This will not be everyone's cup of tea; to some, it may even look and feel a little cheap. But anyone that's spent a bit too much time importing Japanese games from the 16-bit era will feel right at home.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/explodemon/">Explodemon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/explodemon/#3859479"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/5115450215de364664abo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/explodemon/#3859480"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/5115450243d99d419d2eo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/explodemon/#3859481"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/5115450475e8a1aa0f03o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/explodemon/#3859482"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/5116050480829efe22dco_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/explodemon/#3859483"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/51160505669ae58e1d07o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/10/explodemon-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Explodemon review: A blast from the past</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/10/explodemon-review/">Explodemon review: A blast from the past</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Feb 2011 15:40:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/double-fine">Double Fine</a>'s second downloadable offering -- the last being the delightful <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/costume-quest">Costume Quest</a></em> -- for PSN and XBLA, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/stacking">Stacking</a></em>, will arrive on those platforms February 8 and 9, respectively. Along with the dates, publisher THQ announced pricing: $14.99 on PS3 and 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.<br />

To get you in the mood for stacking Russian nesting dolls, we've posted video of a young lady who should be <em>especially</em> good at this game after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/19/stacking-pops-onto-psn-feb-8-xbla-feb-9/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stacking pops onto PSN Feb. 8, XBLA Feb. 9</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/19/stacking-pops-onto-psn-feb-8-xbla-feb-9/">Stacking pops onto PSN Feb. 8, XBLA Feb. 9</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Jan 2011 18:45:00 EST. DrinkBox Studios will see its Sony Pub Fund-backed platformer, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tales-from-space-about-a-blob">Tales From Space: About a Blob</a></em>, released on PSN on February 1 -- for PlayStation Plus subscribers, at least. The rest of the PlayStation Network populace will be able to download the title the following Tuesday, February 8.<br />
<br />
<em>Tales From Space: About a Blob</em> bears a resemblance to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/locoroco">LocoRoco</a></em> in terms of gameplay, with the added twist of its oozing protagonists (it's a two-player game) possessing the ability not only to grow larger by absorbing items, but fire them back out as projectiles, too. You know, like blobs tend to do.<br />
<br />
Final pricing hasn't been set, but DrinkBox CEO Ryan MacLean says on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/01/18/about-a-blob-hits-playstation-plus-february-1st-psn-february-8th-2/">PlayStation Blog</a> that it should come in at $14.99 with a free trial version available, as well. Sounds like a goo-ed plan to us.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/18/tales-from-space-about-a-blob-arrives-feb-1-for-playstation-pl/">Tales From Space: About a Blob arrives Feb. 1 for PlayStation Plus users</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Jan 2011 19:30:00 EST. We got a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/11/x-men-destiny-previewed-in-oxm-uk/">bit of background information</a> on <a href="http://jwww.joystiq.com/tag/silicon-knights">Silicon Knights</a>' upcoming Marvel Comics RPG, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/x-men-destiny">X-Men: Destiny</a></em>, last week via OXM UK -- now what are said (and appear) to be screenshots from the game have made their way online. Gamekyo has the shots at the source link, which originated from a slideshow which can still be found <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FwqObK_h6w">on YouTube</a> (until Activision has it pulled, at least).<br />
<br />
We can't imagine this is the first impression of the game its developer or publisher would like the public to have; it just frankly doesn't look <em>very good at all</em>. Then there's what appears to be one of the new characters created specifically for players to control. He apparently has the mutant ability to look like a model for Ed Hardy. Hopefully the official reveal will cast the game in a better light -- and reveal a better cast.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/17/x-men-destiny-screens-leaked-a-bit-too-early-by-the-looks-of-i/">X-Men Destiny screens leaked (a bit too early, by the looks of it)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Jan 2011 18:05:00 EST.
