This new Booty will include a single-player campaign, along with real-time multiplayer and cross-platform support. There's currently no announced release date.

The console version of Age of Booty was sent out to die in the holiday fray of 2008, becoming a tale of woe for those who'd dare set sale with a downloadable title near the end of the year.

The title of the post simply reads "Age of Booty - Xbox Avatars Set Sail." We're guessing this means that Capcom will be adding Avatar support to Age of Booty. Another possibility is that Avatars will receive some Age of Booty themed clothing. We're kind of hoping for the second possibility, because our Avatar is just dying for a peg leg.

We've contacted the folks at Capcom in hopes that they might clear up this confusion. We'll update this post when we receive new information.

[Update: As reader Johnathan points out, the Capcom post more than likely refers to the Avatar support that was announced in January. Originally slated for a February release, it has yet to see the light of day. Bet your booties (get it?) that Avatar support will arrive next week.]

We're not sure how likely you are to care at this point -- almost four months after the game's initial release -- but Age of Booty has finally been patched with Trophies. The patch is available to download now on both sides of the Atlantic. Simply load up the game and the patch will download automagically.

Hopefully this marks one of the last times we'll have to write a post regarding a Trophy patch, though Bionic Commando Rearmed is still due to receive one at some point. However, with the game having released over half a year ago, we hope you're not still holding your breath.

Capcom is preparing to enhance the Age of Booty by adding console specific features in an upcoming patch. Speaking with IGN, the publisher states it'll bring Avatar support for Xbox Live and Trophies to PS3. The eye patch will be free and unearthed near the end of February.

Although Age of Booty has received unexceptional reviews, the pirate-themed RTS boardgame certainly deserves the respect of a demo try for those who haven't done so.

Capcom's Age of Booty has run into a number of issues, ranging from connection problems to a mystery Trophy update (which was later pulled). Well, looks like Capcom's finally getting their act together. IGN just learned that the PlayStation Network game will get another patch -- with working Trophies -- at the end of February, to coincide with the release of the PC version of the game.

Boom Blox
My Wii gathered so many cobwebs this year that it looked like it was a prop from a creepy old Boris Karloff movie. The phenomenon of Wii Fit had me dust it off and breathed some new life into it for a few days, but before long it was relegated back to its hiding space under the couch. That is until Boom Blox slid smoothly into the disc slot. Two days later, I could barely move my right arm due to my newfound obsession, and I still fire it up on a regular basis just to hurl balls at Jenga towers.

Capcom has noted that some people have been experiencing "stability and connectivity" issues with the company's swashbuckler of a game, Age of Booty. Apparently, the European trial version and the North American Trophy patch were released too early and have caused problems for owners of the game. Capcom acknowledges the situation and reports that it is working on fixing things right away. Taken from Capcom Unity: "We're rushing a patch out to everyone that'll revert back to the proper version. Sony will have it within 24 hours and the public will have it as soon as Sony declares it ready to publish.

Our regular readers, however, may remember that Sony's approval process may take upward to two weeks. So hopefully there will be smooth sailing in time for Christmas. Capcom also says they're about a week away from resubmitting a finalized trial version and Trophy patch.

Following an unexpected delay in mid October, Capcom recently announced that the very enjoyable Age of Booty will plunder the PSN starting Nov. 13. The publisher hopes that Europe and Asia will get it on the same day, but the cabin boy with that confirmation apparently got lost on shore leave (something about a Monkey Island).

Despite the middling reviews, the $10 title certainly delivers a quality online experience for those who feel there isn't enough real-time strategy in their board games.

One of the games absent from today's PSN update was Age of Booty, Capcom's pirate-themed multiplayer strategy game. Although already available on XBLA, it appears the game has been delayed to November on PS3. Capcom's blog updates: "We want to ensure the online experience for PSN users is as smooth, fun, and addicting. We also want to ensure all those who dive into the map editor and generate new content for the Age of Booty community have a great time sharing their maps with friends. As a result, we had a little more work to do."

Although already on our Trophy Portal, the fine folks at Capcom have re-confirmed their Trophy efforts. The PSN collectibles will be available as a post-release patch "within the first couple of months" of the game's now-delayed release.

Let's just put this out there: Age of Booty is really, really fun. We know this because the trial version (the trial version) allows you to try online multiplayer for two days. Why it's taken nearly three years for an Xbox Live Arcade game to offer online play in the trial version, we have no idea. We just hope it's the beginning of a beautiful trend. We've got two new games landing on Xbox Live Arcade today. First up, we have Crazy Mouse, which is about a mouse that is just ka-razy for food. It's kind of like Pac-Man, but with mice, weapons, and food. On the other end of the spectrum we have Age of Booty, a real time strategy game of sorts, which has players scrambling to upgrade their pirate ships and capture hapless towns. Without a doubt though, the best feature of Age of Booty is that the trial version actually lets you try out Xbox Live multiplayer for a full two days. Why haven't we seen this feature before?

We're not sure, but we can tell that Age of Booty is (rum) barrels of fun. CrazyMouse will run you 400 points while Age of Booty requires 800 points of your hard-earned plunder.

The Age of Booty begins this Wednesday as the plundering pirates RTS game joins XBLA for 800 ($10). The release date is in line with what Capcom had previously announced, which means the title should be available on PSN this Thursday and "shortly after" for PC.

Taking a lesson from last week, this doesn't mean Age of Booty is the only release for XBLA this Wednesday. After Tenchu snuck in like a ninja at the eleventh hour, we're keeping an eye out whether any other games jump out of the shadows. En garde!

Just as we were informed, Certain Affinity's pirate themed strategy game Plunder Age of Booty will be releasing to the Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, October 15th. For 800 Microsoft points, you can expect an almost board game-like strategy game that supports four player Xbox Live versus, eight player system link, comes packed with 25 multiplayer maps and even a map editor. It was also developed by the "designer of the multiplayer game for Halo 2 and Halo 3" which is a blatant name drop if we ever heard one. Now if only we could remember where we buried our Microsoft point treasure ...

Age of Booty, Capcom's multiplayer pirate strategy game, will "soon" (Capcom's official blog indicates an October 16th date) be available on the PlayStation Network Store according to a new post on the PlayStation Blog. The post states that the game will sell for only $9.99 when it launches and will support 8-player online multiplayer (4-player local). A demo will be made available a couple of weeks later, which will expire after a certain time. This may sound unfair, but the demo will allow you to play online, so it all balances out.

We had some time with the game at E3 earlier this year and we enjoyed what we played. It's a real-time strategy game where you are tasked with pillaging coastal villages and removing other pirate threats before they do the same to you. Check the PlayStation Blog for a more in-depth explanation of the game. Age of Booty will ship with a map editor, so if you're the creative type you'll have something a little extra to play with. These maps will be uploadable for other players to download. There are hints that the title will support trophies, even if it hasn't quite been confirmed yet. As always, we'll keep you updated on that.

We promised we would write this entire post without making a single lame pirate joke and we're sticking to it. Capcom announced yesterday that its Xbox Live Arcade real-time strategy pirate game, Age of Booty, would land on the service on October 15 and will be priced at 800MS points. Capcom, hot off the heels of the successful Bionic Commando Rearmed release and prepping for a Mega Man 9 launch this Wednesday, promises a great experience on the boardgame-esque high-seas.

Age of Booty from developer Certain Affinity, which once went by the less risqe title Plunder, has already received positive impressions from our sister site Joystiq from preview code in the past. Hopefully the multiplayer-focused, real-time downloadable title will be able to set itself apart when it releases among some of the most anticipated games of the year. Gather ye Microsoft Sea points and prepare for the adventure... Arrr! Well, we almost made it.

You mean you didn't want to publicize a video of yourself shaking what-your-mama-gave-you to win a game? You can just shell out $10 and get the same results -- Age of Booty (not to be confused with Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty), an RTS game by Capcom, will become available for purchase on the PSN Thursday, October 16th. You will also be able to download a demo of the game on the same day.

The Capcom blog has announced that the horrifically under-promoted Age of Booty sets sail on October 15 and 16 for XBLA and PSN, respectively. The PC version will be available "shortly after" on digital download services like Metaboli, Impulse and Steam. The game will be sold on all platforms for $10.

We've had a few positive hands-on experiences with developer Certain Affinity's AoB, going back to when it was known by the less risqué name, Plunder. Hopefully this multiplayer-focused, real-time, boardgame-esque downloadable title finds an audience in the madness of this packed holiday season.

If we could somehow produce an audio version of this particular post, you'd hear a distinct gruffness to our characteristically un-gruff voices -- an unfortunate, though not completely unforeseeable, result of our enthusiastic observation of International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Capcom had their own way of celebrating the seafaring holiday -- yesterday, the open beta for Age of Booty (formerly Plunder, even more formerly Pimps at Sea) went live via a free download for all Fileplanet users.

You probably don't need us to tell you that the beta is for the PC version of the game -- those hoping to buckle their swashes on Xbox Live Arcade will have to wait for the game's yet-to-be-decided 2008 release date.

Christian Svensson, VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom, is a man of the people. When someone sends out a distress call, he quickly hops down from atop his mountain of unsold copies of Zack & Wiki and Okami to help out. He may not be wearing a cape and mask, but we think he's a super hero.

Why all the Sven love? Because the dude gave us hope for some more Capcom support on the Wii. When Capcom fan John voiced his concern over a lack of Bionic Commando on the Wii, Christian stepped in to let John know that Capcom won't be forgetting about the console after Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop. "We are contemplating versions of one or two of the CEI titles you've mentioned on the Wii (not saying which), but we'd like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs." What titles could he be referring to?

Siliconera speculates that it could be Flock, Age of Booty, Dark Void, and Street Fighter IV up for consideration, as these are Capcom Entertainment Incorporated ("CEI") projects. Flock seems like the natural choice, but we'd be lying if we said that the prospect of Dark Void or Street Fighter IV on the Wii was unappealing. That Dark Void game certainly looked cool at E3. We'd have liked to play it, but we were too busy playing games for you all.

Tragically, Age of Booty may receive our second-annual award for "worst game title," but this should not at all reflect on the game's quality. Once known as Plunder, Age of Booty is a name change and not much else from the game we've had a positive hands-on experience with in the past.

Age of Booty is an RTS action/European board game expected sometime this fall and the title already feels incredibly polished. It will release with a fairly robust map editor to create and share user-generated content for the game on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Yeah, but in this age of microtransaction shenanigans, where's the catch? We were informed that DLC for the game will actually involve legitimate expansion content. As a Capcom representative informed us, "We're not going to nickle and dime with this game."

We thought that Certain Affinity wanted to distance itself as far as possible from the Bungie joke-game Pimps at Sea, but it looks like we were wrong. Renamed to Age of Booty from Plunder, the pirate themed hex-based strategy game stil doesn't have a firm release date (even though the site still says late spring/early summer) but we hope that a name change indicates that Capcom and Certain Affinity are gearing up for finalization.

Certain Affinity is close to finishing Plunder, a downloadable real-time strategy, multiplayer pirate game. The Capcom-published title will be released in late Spring or early Summer for XBLA, PSN, and PCs. Pricing has yet to be announced.

With inspiration from Settlers of Catan, Certain Affinity decided to create a hex-based game but with a real-time twist. Each player -- up to four on one system and eight online -- uses a pointer to guide their own ship. Teams win by capturing a certain number of towns or holding the majority when time runs out.

I played a few test games on an Xbox setup, tapping the A button to issue movement orders. Much of the rest of the game is automated, with ships attacking towns and enemy pirates when within range. Neutral and enemy towns pelted my boat with canon balls until I pummeled them into submission. If I held the defeated town for a moment, I'd claim it, causing it to attack only opposing boats.
