The side-scrolling action RPG game draws from Greek mythology in both its appearance and story, as players control a hero on a quest to stop the now-evil Greek goddess Hera after she de-thrones Zeus.<br /><br />The description for <em>Apotheon</em> from Alientrap's <a href="http://www.alientrap.org/games/apotheon">official site</a> notes "a large single player campaign in a massive open world Mount Olympus," as well as "online multiplayer with deathmatch and team based gamemodes." The game is in development for PC, and will launch on Steam sometime in 2013. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/apotheon-10-21-12/">Apotheon (10/21/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/apotheon-10-21-12/#5375425"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/apotheon-2012-10-17-16-20-12-74_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/apotheon-10-21-12/#5375426"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/apotheon-2012-10-17-16-20-51-63_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/apotheon-10-21-12/#5375427"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/apotheon-2012-10-17-16-26-24-78_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/apotheon-10-21-12/#5375428"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/apotheon-2012-10-17-16-29-18-38_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/apotheon-10-21-12/#5375429"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/apotheon-2012-10-17-16-30-17-34_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/21/first-gameplay-video-of-alientraps-apotheon-is-gorgeous-coming/">First gameplay video of Alientrap's Apotheon is gorgeous, coming in 2013</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 21 Oct 2012 21:00:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/capsized"><em>Capsized</em></a> will crash onto iPad in early January 2012 for free -- a price that seems almost alien. The game will support this exotic price point with a "robust in-game currency system," so players can make purchases and upgrades to weapons, skills and other stats.<br />
<br />
The free action and exploration title has also been revamped for the touch-based device, and will retain more than a dozen non-linear levels. It also has the story-based campaign, along with other modes found in the for-pay versions.<br />
<br />
<em>Capsized</em> is also expected to explore <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/05/capsized-landing-on-xbla-in-december/">Xbox Live Arcade in December</a> (for $10), along with PSN, Android and Mac platforms sometime in the first quarter of next year.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/capsized-coming-to-ipad-for-free-in-january/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Capsized coming to iPad for free in January</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/capsized-coming-to-ipad-for-free-in-january/">Capsized coming to iPad for free in January</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Nov 2011 17:15:00 EST. Errant space explorers can only hope to wind up stranded on an alien planet as lush and beautiful as the one in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capsized"><em>Capsized</em></a> -- though we'd understand if they also wished for a destination less deadly. The action-packed indie platformer, initially developed by Alientrap and now ported to Xbox Live Arcade by Koolhaus Games, is set to launch on Microsoft's service in December.<br />
<br />
IndiePub set the new release window today, almost <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/indie-title-capsized-shows-off-gameplay-tipping-onto-xbla-pc/">two years</a> after we first learned of <em>Capsized</em>'s XBLA ambitions. The game's hand-drawn blend of exploration, grappling, flight and puzzle solving has impressed critics since April, when it debuted on PC through Steam and Alientrap's website.<br />
<br />
The Xbox Live Arcade version of <em>Capsized</em> isn't a straight port, IndiePub says, with enhanced graphics, exclusive levels and further downloadable content being readied for the console version. It's been a long wait, but it sounds like Xbox players are in for a $10 treat.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/05/capsized-landing-on-xbla-in-december/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Capsized landing on XBLA in December</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/05/capsized-landing-on-xbla-in-december/">Capsized landing on XBLA in December</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Oct 2011 17:00:00 EST. Independent development can be a long and laborious road, but <em>Capsized </em>creator Lee Vermeulen is hoping to make it a little smoother with Indievania, a new open platform where developers can sell and promote their indie darlings. Indievania is a direct-to-fan, DRM-free platform, where developers will interact directly with potential players, eliminating any middle-men and their exorbitant fees. In beta, Indievania is currently offering four games, <em>BEEP</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/steel-storm/"><em>Steel Storm</em></a>, and two of Vermeulen's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/alientrap/">Alientrap</a> creations, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capsized/">Capsized</a> </em>and <em>Nexuiz Classic</em>.<br />
<br />
Indievania will host alpha, beta and prototype game versions for developers to raise title awareness, and asks only 9 percent for hosting a game, much lower than the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/there-may-be-some-games-in-your-google-plus-soon/">industry-standard</a> 30 percent. Payments are only accepted through PayPal now, but Vermeulen plans to add Google Checkout and Amazon Payments later. Developers can submit a game and have it selling within one day, with complete control over their store page and price. Games will be featured, front-page style, according to popularity or overall quality.<br />
<br />
Indievania sounds like a wonderful opportunity for independent developers -- at least, unlike Dracula's -vania, we don't think it will completely <em>suck</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/06/indievania-makes-a-comfy-home-for-indie-developers-and-their-gam/">Indievania makes a comfy home for indie developers and their games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Aug 2011 20:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/95300/">Capsized</a> </em>is 66 percent off in <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/5917/">Steam's Daily Deal</a> for July 29, cooling its rudders from $9.99 to a smooth $3.99 for one day only. Alientrap's <em>Capsized </em>is an artistic 2D platformer featuring a crash-landed astronaut and his struggle to survive an alien-infested world through puzzle-solving and sidescrolling action. Don't let this spaceship sail without you, but remember -- you'll have to go down with it too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/29/capsized-goes-down-in-price-with-a-steam-daily-deal/">Capsized goes down in price with a Steam Daily Deal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 Jul 2011 19:30:00 EST. Indie developer Alientrap's <em>Capsized</em> has certainly captured our attention with its art style. <a href="http://www.indiegames.com/blog/2009/10/trailer_capsized_alientrap_sof.html">IndieGames</a> took note of the title and its early footage, which is giving off an <em>Exile</em> and <em>Metroid</em> vibe, but its lush setting and arcade-like action appears to separate it from that pack. The game is planned for a 2010 launch on Steam and XBLA.<br />
<br />
We're currently following up with Alientrap for more details about the game, which is currently <a href="http://alientrap.org/capsized/news">seeking play testers</a> on PC. Check out the first trailer, which isn't shy on the gameplay footage, after the break.<br />
