The Wii U is getting the Ultimate Edition of The Amazing Spider-Man, which bundles in the four DLC packs released for the other versions, including the one that lets you play as Stan Lee - every DLC pack for every game should let you play as Stan Lee. It also supports off-TV play, or if you prefer you can turn the GamePad into a cell-phone with which you can take on new challenges, find your way around the city, and order Spider-pizza sustenance.

As is the case with that other Wii U reissue of a current-gen superhero game, all of Amazing Spider-Man's DLC will come packed in, including the Stan Lee Adventure Pack seen above.

The Oscorp Search & Destroy Pack brings two minigames, with you controlling either a giant snake or a hunter robot. And the Rhino Challenge Pack will put you behind the wheel of the Rhino, allowing you to destroy everything in a timed competition.

And finally, the long-awaited Stan Lee Adventure Pack will let you play the legend himself, flying around the virtual streets of New York and spouting one-liners as everyone's favorite former chairman of Marvel Comics. Each of these packs will run you $3-$4, but you can get all four for a discounted price of $10. As Stan himself would say (and we're paraphrasing here), that's enough words spoken.

Activision hasn't shown or talked about much outside of the HD version, to the point that this is likely to be your first look at the DS version - which has been out since June.

Developer Other Ocean Interactive - known for Dark Void Zero, among other things - got in touch with Joystiq to let us know it was responsible for the DS Spidey game - which, like previous DS Spidey tie-ins by developers like Griptonite, eschews the big-screen games' 3D action for hand-drawn, side-scrolling 2D.

It's a different take on the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, just like the movie was a different take on the origin story for some reason.

Now another director is making a different Spider-Man movie starring a different actor as a different version of the character. And Bruce Campbell is in the game based on that movie because ... people like Bruce Campbell, we guess?

Campbell plays a guy in a blimp who orders you to do stunts.

The box -- check it out to the left -- features the final art for The Amazing Spider-Man, Beenox said, but it doesn't specify how the Move will function with the title. Its insert shows two Move controllers and the PS Eye: If it does use two Move controllers, The Amazing Spider-Man will be the first third-party title to offer the dual-controller option, iWaggle3D noted.

The Amazing Spider-Man is hitting Wii and Xbox 360 as well, and while the Wii will use its own brand of motion-controls, there is no word yet if we'll be able to Web Rush with the Kinect.

Think of that initial first-person bit seen in the movie's teaser trailer, which moves the camera inside Parker's head and lets you see skyscrapers of Manhattan through the eyes of Spider-Man.

Good morning, true believers! Are you ready for The Amazing Spider-Man to get weird? During an interview with Addict of Fiction at the London Super Comic Convention, Spidey co-creator Stan Lee revealed that he will be a playable character in Beenox's upcoming Amazing Spider-Man game.

The Amazing Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood foray into the world of movie tie-in gaming, will be released on June 26 for the 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS and DS, according to Game Informer. This is ahead of the film's theatrical debut on July 3, and seeing as the game serves as an addendum to the film, our initial reaction was to worry about potentially spoiling the ending of the movie ahead of its release.

We get it; he's Spider-Man. But how does he function in The Amazing Spider-Man? How do his maneuvers and attacks compare to the Hollywood film this game is tied to? Does his face resemble Andrew Garfield's?

We're able to glean more information from December's trailer, of course, but if the first screenshot wasn't going to be action-packed, at least it could have been artistic.

A brief teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man (above) promises a more amazing look at the game with this weekend's VGAs. There's also a new official site to poke around, if that's your thing. We imagine you like web sites.

The Amazing Spider-Man is slated to launch alongside the movie next summer and serves as an epilogue to the film. It brings back the free-roaming web-slinging of games past, with a story penned by Seamus Kevin Fahey, who's written for TV shows including Battlestar Galactica.

According to Activision producer Doug Heder, Amazing has been in the works for longer than either Shattered Dimensions or Edge of Time, the publisher's two latest Spidey titles. "We've spent more time on this game than we will have on either of the other two," he explained to me after Marvel's game panel at New York Comic Con this past weekend.

But that's not to say that all that time has been spent in production -- apparently the genesis of Amazing was nearly four years ago, though development didn't begin in earnest until about a year ago. "They are two completely separate teams," Heder said of the developing studio, Beenox. "We have separate leads, separate artists, separate designers -- they're working in parallel with each other."

Heder also noted that, at one point, Activison had another studio working on a Spider-Man 4 title to be released alongside a planned movie. When the movie fell through, however, Activision canceled the project and concentrated on other Spidey games. "That was a completely different studio that was working on it, completely different tech, and engine and everything," Heder said. "And when the movie shut down, we shut the game down." Reports from 2009 suggest Radical was working on the now canned title, but Heder unfortunately wouldn't get any more specific.

IGN spotted a poster for the game at the New York Comic-Con, going on ... well, right now, as a matter of fact.

Though its existence is no surprise, the fact that it's being developed by Beenox may just be. Should it release alongside the film in July, The Amazing Spider-Man will follow Beenox's dismal Spider-Man: Edge of Time by just nine months.

Nine months. Like a baby.

On the bright side, Amazing Spider-Man will likely only feature one Spidey as compared to Edge of Time's two Spideys. So maybe it only needs half as much development time? Maybe?
