The 'Street Racer' DLC pack will be available for 320 MS Points on Xbox 360, $3.99 on both PlayStation 3 and PC via Steam. The DLC pack adds three new races across land and sea.<br /><br />'Street Racer' also adds a new motorcycle to Wei Shen's garage and a new outfit to his closet, boosting defense against gunfire and accidents. Retailers recently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/08/retailers-take-a-bite-out-of-sleeping-dogs-price/">slashed the price</a> of <em>Sleeping Dogs -</em> it's $40 on both Xbox 360 and PS3 on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Sleeping-Dogs-Playstation-3/dp/B0076ZQSFI/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1349703247&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=sleeping+dogs">Amazon</a> and <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=16k-sleeping+dogs">GameStop</a>, or as a $30 PC download through GameStop.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/10/sleeping-dogs-dlc-goes-street-racing-on-october-16/">Sleeping Dogs DLC goes street racing on October 16</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Oct 2012 21:30:00 EST. Amazon's PC digital distribution service is rolling out its Black Friday deals now, with a minimum of 50 percent off many of the year's hottest titles. There are also massive discounts on titles from last year, like <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_358884282_4?ie=UTF8&amp;docId=1000716161&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=right-1&amp;pf_rd_r=1TMV0ZJ0Y9YGT23JS27J&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_p=1331983222&amp;pf_rd_i=1000746611">Mass Effect 2 for $5</a>.<br />
<br />
Recently released titles <em>Dungeon Defenders</em> and <em>Might &amp; Magic: Heroes 6</em> are 50 percent off, at $7.50 and $27.50, respectively.<br />
<br />
Other great deals include <em>The Witcher 2</em> for $16 (-60%), <em>Amnesia</em> for $5 (-75%) and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/tropico-4">Tropico 4</a></em> for $20 (-50%). For those looking for an excuse not to venture near any malls this weekend, Amazon has plenty of discounted titles to keep one busy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/black-friday-pc-deals-kick-off-today-on-amazon/">Black Friday PC deals kick off today on Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Nov 2011 13:10:00 EST. The <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/gears-of-war-3"><em>Gears of War 3</em></a> bundle that includes a 320GB Xbox 360 console, two controllers and the game, comes with a $40 credit at Amazon. The $40 Amazon credit is good on most items shipped and sold by the online retailer.<br />
<br />
The Amazon bundle also includes, as a pre-order bonus, the Savage Kantus skin for the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/18/gears-of-war-3-weapon-and-character-videos-leak-all-over-youtube/">multiplayer</a>. Admittedly, that bonus still isn't half as cool as those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/gears-of-war-3-preorder-comes-with-bandages-at-canadas-future-s/"><em>Gears</em> bandages</a>.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: Target called to let us know they will also offer a $40 Target card with purchase of the system tomorrow.<br />

According to Amazon France listings spotted by <a href="http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/08/07/splinter-cell-trilogy-for-ps3/">The Sixth Axis</a>, both <em><a href="http://www.amazon.fr/UBI-Soft-Splinter-cell-trilogie/dp/B003YB6D30">Splinter Cell</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.amazon.fr/UBI-Soft-Prince-persia-trilogy/dp/B003VMCLU6/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1281183128&amp;sr=1-30">Prince of Persia</a></em> franchises could be getting the Blu-ray treatment in the coming months. Unfortunately, other than a 39.95 Euro ($54) price tag and a November 2 release date, neither listing provides any real detail on what the trilogies might contain.<br />
<br />
If Ubisoft is planning to re-release these games as compilations, it's possible that they might feature updated graphics, much like last year's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war-collection">God of War Collection</a>.</em> With a <em>Sly Cooper</em> collection on the way -- and rumors of a Team Ico Collection refusing to go away -- we'd hardly be surprised to see third-party publishers giving their own classics another spin. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/08/rumor-ubisoft-releasing-splinter-cell-prince-of-persia-trilogi/">Rumor: Ubisoft releasing Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia trilogies on PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 08 Aug 2010 15:30:00 EST. Online retailer Amazon has <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2009/videogames/ref=zg_bs_cal">tallied up sales in its Video Games category</a> for the year 2009, and the results are overwhelmingly in favor of the Nintendo <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii">Wii</a>, with nine out of the top ten spots going to Nintendo's console, various official accessories, and games. The best-selling game on the list is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/new-super-mario-bros-wii"><em>New Super Mario Bros. Wii</em></a> at spot number 5, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that the game came out in November -- selling more copies in under two months than most games sold all year. But above that it's all Wii gear, from the Nunchuk and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/motionplus">MotionPlus</a> addon to the console itself at the top.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> is the only non-Nintendo title in the top ten, and it's specifically the Xbox 360 version, while the PS3 version comes in at number 13. There are only two titles exclusive to another console on the list: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3-odst"><em>Halo 3: ODST</em></a> for Microsoft at 16, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2"><em>Uncharted 2</em></a> for Sony at 18. But that's not much to cheer about: even <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Official-Nintendo-Wii-Wheel/dp/B0013B30SY/ref=pd_ts_vg_14?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames">the Wii Wheel</a> beat them both. It's fair to say Nintendo can declare Wii-ctory on Amazon in 2009. See the full list below.<br />

So pick your console of choice (<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Outlet/b/ref=vg_bf_tik_409566_grlink_1?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=1&amp;node=409566">Nintendo Wii</a> / <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Outlet/b/ref=vg_bf_tik_409566_grlink_4?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=4&amp;node=409566">DS</a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Outlet/b/ref=vg_bf_tik_409566_grlink_2?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=2&amp;node=409566">PlayStation 3</a>, or <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Outlet/b/ref=vg_bf_tik_409566_grlink_3?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=3&amp;node=409566">Xbox 360</a>) and check out all the savings for yourself. While it's not quite Steam levels of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/valve,black-friday-2009">insane price drops</a>, we're quite partial to games for a third or more off normal retail price. <em>Aren't</em> <em>you</em>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/29/amazon-coms-cyber-monday-deals-available-now/">Amazon.com's Cyber Monday deals available now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Nov 2009 20:30:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/recession">global economic recession</a> is finally hitting home, folks. That's right -- <em>the Internet</em>. Major online retailer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/amazon">Amazon.com</a> is citing, "video games and consoles" as one of the primary culprits causing the company's financial hardship. According to the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124838073359576929.html">Wall Street Journal</a>, though the company posted 14% increased profit margins in its last financial quarter, sales of "media" in the US (books, movies, <em>video games</em>) have nearly stopped.<br /><br />While we can't speak for the other two forms of "media," we'd like to point out to Amazon that, comparatively with spring of 2008, sales of video games in spring of 2009 have been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/18/pachter-calls-march-wii-console-sales-somewhat-disconcerting/">predicted to decrease</a> for some time now. It probably doesn't help that, you know, it's summer. Still, with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3-odst">flood</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-beatles-rock-band">great</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dark-void">games</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-asylum">coming</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/asssassins-creed-2">out</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/brutal-legend">later</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/borderlands">this</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splinter-cell-conviction">year</a>, we're betting the lean times (in terms of video game sales, at least) won't last for long.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/26/amazon-stock-drops-citing-an-industry-slowdown-in-video-games-a/">Amazon stock drops citing 'an industry slowdown in video games and consoles'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 26 Jul 2009 13:30:00 EST. The benefits of Amazon.com's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/08/amazon-selling-xbox-live-arcade-game-codes/">new</a> Xbox Live Arcade Store continue to reveal themselves, as the two bestselling titles are <em>Doom</em> ($2.97) and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pac-man-championship-edition"><em>Pac-Man C.E.</em></a> ($4.97), both currently featured with discounted prices -- and both no-brainers for anyone who has previously passed on these two gems. Clearly, the Amazon option provides the possibility of more of these <em>sweet</em> discounts, in addition to perks like offering exact purchasing of games (instead of buying Microsoft Points in bulk), bonus money through participating credit cards, and potential sales tax dodging. But, a word to the wise: Check Amazon's prices against those listed on Xbox.com (80 Points = $1.00) before you buy, because some stated "discounts" are simply misleading. <br /><br />Currently, at #6 on Amazon's XBLA <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/videogames/979417011/ref=pd_ts_zbw_vg_979417011_more?&amp;pf_rd_p=473064171&amp;pf_rd_s=right-4&amp;pf_rd_t=101&amp;pf_rd_i=979417011&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=1X0HR760VHJGKA1MTFDW">bestseller list</a> is the original <em>Geometry Wars,</em> which claims to be priced at a 50 percent discount -- <em>wrong!</em> Five dollars is the <em>actual</em> price of the game on <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584107ed/?of=7">Xbox Marketplace</a>, and the presumed "broader" demographic now shopping for XBLA games on Amazon should be careful, as one would be better served to double down and purchase the superior sequel (#16 on the list) for ten. Alas, we're preaching to the choir here -- you, dear reader, already know this. (Whaddya gonna do, ya know?) Just take note of the <em>real</em> discounts, as they're good ones, and forget about those "others" being misled by the <em>fake</em> ones. <br /><br />[Thanks, Chad]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/14/discounted-doom-pac-man-ce-top-amazon-xbla-store/">Discounted Doom, Pac-Man CE top Amazon XBLA Store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Apr 2009 11:29:00 EST. Amazon.com launched its "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FXbox-Live%2Fb%3Fie%3DUTF8%26node%3D979417011%26ref%255F%3Damb%255Flink%255F84085271%255F2&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957">Amazon Xbox Live Store</a>" today, where the online retailer offers Microsoft Points cards, Live subscriptions and -- <em>here's the interesting part</em> -- Xbox Live Arcade game codes. Previously, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbla">XBLA</a> titles were only available through the console (and on limited compilation discs), making <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/amazon">Amazon</a> the first retailer to sell codes for downloading these games. At this time, there doesn't appear to be any obvious financial advantage to purchasing arcade titles through Amazon (unless you have a gift certificate to redeem there and if taxes aren't applied to your purchases).<br /><br />Christina DeRosa, general manager of Microsoft's Xbox Live Business, claims this partnership is good because it extends the Xbox storefront to Amazon, a company which "is helping make digital distribution more mainstream." And that seems to be the core idea in this curious move: Amazon is a trusted mainstream brand. While Mom and Dad may not trust little Timmy and Suzie using the credit card to purchase points on the console, they'll have little reservation about purchasing the product codes through Amazon. Sure, to <em>us</em> it's an extra step in getting our games, but we're obviously "special." Right, Mom?<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Commenter Butaneko brings up a good point: If you rock an Amazon Visa card, the company sends a $25 gift certificate for every 2500 points earned (calculations on how that happens vary depending on how you use the card). The certificates could always be used on games and MS Points cards, but now it's possible to buy XBLA games direct for "free."<br /><br />[Thanks, Patio]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/08/amazon-selling-xbox-live-arcade-game-codes/">Amazon selling Xbox Live Arcade game codes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 11:24:00 EST. Citing an Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (<a href="http://www.eedar.com">EEDAR</a>) report released in the past week, <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/gamestop-pre-owned-sales-secure-again-amazon">GamesIndustry.biz</a> is reporting today that, while the announcement of Amazon.com entering the used game trade triggered a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/gamestop-stock-drops-13-following-amazon-trade-in-program-annou/">13% drop in GameStop stock</a>, "Amazon is of little threat to GameStop's core business." According to EEDAR, this doesn't mean Amazon is doomed to fail, but that "<span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span><span font-stretch:="" font-size-adjust:="" line-height:="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" font-variant:="" font-style:="" roman="" new="" times="" style=""></span></span></span>Amazon and GameStop can co-exist peacefully," which sounds awfully nice to us on the consumer side of things.<br /><br />How did they arrive at these rather broad conclusions, you ask? "EEDAR conducted a survey and recorded the trade-in value, used price, and new price of 79 game SKUs (57 that applied to the survey) at Amazon and GameStop." After doing so, they arrived at this, possibly shocking, revelation: "On average, GameStop offers a better value on trade-ins by over 3%." <em>Seriously</em>?<br /><br />To round out the EEDAR report, we'll leave you with this one, astonishing truth: "Amazon's entry into the used gaming market will expand the used market into new territories and make available to new consumers rather than steal share away from GameStop's core business." So, what's the lesson here? Competition: good for consumers, (apparently) okay for retailers.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/18/amazon-is-of-little-threat-to-gamestops-core-business-says-ee/">'Amazon is of little threat to GameStop's core business' says EEDAR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Mar 2009 18:55:00 EST. Amazon.com is jumping into the digitally distributed games market with its straightforwardly titled, um, "<a href="http://amazon.com/gamedownloads ">Amazon Game Downloads</a>." The service begins its beta today and offers 500 casual titles for under $10 each. During the initial launch week, full versions of <em>Jewel Quest 2, Build-a-lot </em>and<em> The Scruffs</em> will be available to <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_82997671_2?ie=UTF8&amp;docId=1000319381&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=center-3&amp;pf_rd_r=0FY5FC0C1VAY9WCZNK45&amp;pf_rd_t=101&amp;pf_rd_p=468589331&amp;pf_rd_i=979455011">download for free</a>.<br /><br />We spoke with Greg Hart, vice president of video games and software at <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/amazon">Amazon</a>, who explained that the digital distribution service evolved from the company's acquisition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/amazon-acquires-reflexive-for-digital-distribution/">Reflexive</a> late last year. He stated that the service does require downloading a client (think <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/steam">Steam</a>), but that the 3MB application isn't invasive. When asked if we'll be seeing bigger (less casual) games available, he expressed that the company would have to see how things go during the beta first.<br /><br />If you decide to give the service a try, be sure to let us know how well it fares. Us? Well, we'll give it a shot as soon as we finish looking at these CDs, books, DVDs and infrared toaster ovens. Gosh, there's a lot of stuff on this website, you know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/amazon-launches-casual-game-download-service/">Amazon launches casual game download service</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 09:00:00 EST. Nintendo commanded the top spot in every video game category of Amazon.com's "Best of 2008" list released today. The winners in each category were determined by <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/amazon">Amazon</a> sales figures and shoppers using various site features. The <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS94589+29-Dec-2008+BW20081229">main "best of" list</a> covers various departments, but we're obviously only interested in the gaming section.<br /><br /><strong>Video Games category</strong>:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Best-selling Product -- Nintendo Wii</li>
    <li>Most-Loved Product -- <em>Wii Fit</em></li>
    <li>Most-Wished-For Product -- <em>Wii Fit</em></li>
    <li>Most Popular Gift Product --<em> Mario Kart Wii</em> with Wii Wheel</li>
</ul>
Now, if only there was a way to track the "most-used" products. We wonder if the world has been keeping up with its <em>Wii Fit</em> regimen once the most-wished-for item actually landed in the house.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/29/nintendo-dominates-amazons-2008-game-sales-wish-lists/">Nintendo dominates Amazon's 2008 game sales, wish lists</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Dec 2008 13:45:00 EST. The new <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia"><em>Prince of Persia</em></a> is Amazon's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Ffeature.html%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Damb%255Flink%255F6716412%255F1%26docId%3D1000208101&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957">Deal of the Day</a>, retailing at a $40 price that we could climb a wall and flip backwards over. The fine frugal folks at <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/?f=621">CheapAssGamer</a> noticed the deal, which as the name implies, is <em>only available today</em>.<br /><br />Amazon also shows no favoritism, as the $40 price applies to both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/metareview-prince-of-persia-pc-ps3-360/">magical</a>" adventure.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/17/prince-of-persia-only-40-today-on-amazon/">Prince of Persia only $40 today on Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Dec 2008 11:50:00 EST. Amazon.com has taken another step toward launching the Amazon Software Download store this week, acquiring casual games distributor Reflexive Entertainment for an unspecified sum. Reflexive CEO Lars Brubaker <a href="http://www.reflexive.com/index.php?PAGE=Blog&amp;BID=169&amp;RSS=1">announced</a> the deal on his company's blog with much enthusiasm (and, no doubt, newly swelled pockets). While recognized as a capable developer (Reflexive's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Wik/"><em>Wik &amp; The Fable of Souls</em></a> nabbed an IGF award in '05), Reflexive was more likely targeted by Amazon for its experience in running its own digital distribution portal.<br /><br />In February, Amazon <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/16/amazon-planning-digital-game-distribution/">posted</a> a job listing for a software development engineer to join the company's Software and Video Games Digital Technology team to develop a digital distribution platform for games. To want extent Reflexive is aiding, or simply replacing that team is unknown. "We can't talk about everything yet, but we'll be in touch shortly with more information," Brubaker promises.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/amazon-acquires-reflexive-for-digital-distribution/">Amazon acquires Reflexive for digital distribution</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Oct 2008 15:27:00 EST. While not as funny as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/12/the-10-000-madden-psp-entertainment-pack/">Circuit City's "$10,000" <em>Madden </em>PSP bundle</a>, Amazon has listed every <em>Rock Band 2</em> game, bundle, peripheral and the <em>Rock Band Track Pack</em> as <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=rock+band+2+nintendo+64&amp;x=0&amp;y=0 ">coming to Nintendo 64</a>. While we were quick to assume this meant an overindulgent revival of the <em>best</em> Nintendo console <em>ever</em>, we quickly came back to reality after we noticed the box shots were showing the correct consoles (Xbox 360, PS3, etc.). Revival averted.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-nintendo-64/">Rock Band (Nintendo 64)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-nintendo-64/#979534"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/picture-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-nintendo-64/#979535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/picture-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-nintendo-64/#968521"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/picture-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-nintendo-64/#968528"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/picture-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-nintendo-64/#968522"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/picture-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Thanks, Justin!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/16/amazons-17-separate-rock-band-2-listings-for-nintendo-64/">Amazon's 17 separate Rock Band 2 listings ... for Nintendo 64</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 16 Aug 2008 00:00:00 EST. <p>You find exclusive trailers in all the weird places. Online retailer <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fmpd%2Fpermalink%2Fm30HNEB106XMWL&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325">amazon.com</a> has earned right to its very own <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> trailer, showcasing the loveable Sackboys (and girls) doing what they do best: platforming. It's nice to see a major retailer take strong notice to the PS3 exclusive -- perhaps they agree with Sony, that this might be a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/08/sony-thinks-littlebigplanet-will-sell-ps3s/">hardware pusher</a>. We wonder what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/05/littlebigplanet-pre-order-bonuses-are-terrifyingly-awesome/">pre-order bonus</a> the online retailer will be able to give away ...</p>

<em>Gears of War</em> fanboys -- especially <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/bloggers/dustin-burg/">one we know really wel</a>l -- have been beside themselves over the <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/07/27/130-gears-of-war-2-bundle-to-include-lancer/">announcement</a> last weekend of a special <em>Gears of War 2</em> retail edition bundled with a full-size (non-working) Lancer replica. The only issue is that there's been a <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/07/29/confusion-surrounds-130-gow2-lancer-bundle/">tad bit of confusion over pricing</a>. We spoke with Amazon.com, which will be selling the bundle, and received back these bullet points of information:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Amazon is the exclusive U.S. retailer of the <em>GoW</em> collector's lancer.</li>
    <li>Amazon will offer the lancer as a bundle with <em>GoW 2</em>.</li>
    <li>Pricing for the bundle is not yet confirmed.</li>
    <li>A detail page for the product bundle will go live on the site this week and if pricing is still to be confirmed at that time, customers can sign up to get an email notification for when the product is available for pre-order.</li>
</ul>
We'll be sure to put up a post when the pre-order for the bundle goes live. We'd rather have fanboys walking around with Lancer replicas than making their own homemade versions with movable parts.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/amazon-clarifies-some-gears-of-war-2-lancer-details/">Amazon clarifies some Gears of War 2 Lancer details</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Jul 2008 10:43:00 EST. The PS3 versions of the game have amassed 72% of sales (52% premium, 20% regular edition) compared to the 360 versions' combined 28%.<br /><br />Such impressive numbers show that a third-party title can perform just as well, if not better, on PS3 than on Xbox 360. What can account for such an impressive showing by PlayStation fans? Could it be the series regulars from the PS2, the superior D-Pad, or the dark allure of Darth Vader over Yoda?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News-167974.aspx">N4G</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/ps3-soulcalibur-iv-pre-orders-trumping-competition/">PS3 Soulcalibur IV pre-orders trumping competition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Jul 2008 10:15:00 EST. Well look what we've got here, a nice list of Amazon.com's Black Friday deals which was conveniently left on our doorstep. The above photo reminds us not to venture anywhere near a retail space on Friday, but, darn it, we gotta shop! <br /><br />Some of the highlights of the list are <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 3 Legendary Edition</span> for $80 (saving $50) and <span style="font-style: italic;">BioShock</span> for $40 (saving $20). We've also been told that there will be an allotment of Wiis, but don't expect those to last more than [fill in insanely short amount of time here]. There are also a slew of other deals for every system, check out the full list after the break. Make sure to check Amazon.com on Friday for other deals and revel in shopping from the comfort of your home.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/amazon-coms-great-black-friday-deals-including-wii-supply/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Amazon.com's great Black Friday deals -- including Wii supply</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/amazon-coms-great-black-friday-deals-including-wii-supply/">Amazon.com's great Black Friday deals -- including Wii supply</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Nov 2007 14:00:00 EST. We can't provide any exact figures as to how many consoles Amazon.com has to sell, but we've been told it's "significant," if that means anything to you.<br /><br />Happy hunting to those of you still on the prowl and be sure to let us know how you fare!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/29/still-trying-to-find-a-wii-try-amazon-this-week/">Still trying to find a Wii? Entry into the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000132201">Xbox 360 "Heroes" Sweepstakes</a> is open right now and all you need to do is point your browser <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000132201">here</a>, log into your Amazon.com account, and enter. Three winners will be chosen every day for the next month with each winner receiving a special <em>Heroes</em> decorated Xbox 360 console, HD DVD player add-on and<em> Heroes: Season One</em> on HD DVD. Sadly, there is no mention that entry into the sweepstakes will give you special <em>Heroes</em> powers. The PS3 80GB <em>Motorstorm</em> Pack was ranked 105 on the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fmovers-and-shakers%2Fvideogames%2F&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325">amazon sales charts</a>. Now, it's at number 18. This means sales or the 80GB model have jumped 483%. A pretty impressive jump -- and we expect sales to grow. Sony's $100 price drop is making the system that much more attractive to consumers. How will they respond to the $399 40GB system when it releases in a few weeks?<br /><br />Note: amazon.com sales charts are updated hourly.<br /><br />[Thanks, Random1448!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/18/ps3-moves-and-shakes-amazon-com-sales-charts/">PS3 moves and shakes amazon.com sales charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Oct 2007 20:00:00 EST. They decided to switch this great deal to something more DS based and did it mid-day. Stupid Amazon.com. But we'll make it up to you fellow X3F reader, we'll find another great deal even if it paralyzes us for the rest of our waking lives. No joke.<br /><br />We love Amazon.com lately and their gaming Deal of the Day program. For some reason we get all jolly and happy when we see an Xbox 360 product appear, so much so that we sometimes break out into a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverdance">Riverdance</a> mid-day. And that exact scenario just may play out in the next twenty-four hours, because today's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P5FEJC">Deal of the Day</a> is a 360 combo pack including a spiffy black Xbox 360 wireless controller and a play and charge pack (with battery) for only $44. This combo pack usually retails for $69, so take advantage of the savings and pick up an extra controller if you're in need. We're feeling the urge ... the urge to Riverdance.<br /><br />[Thanks, Phillip]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/snag-a-black-controller-and-play-and-charge-kit-for-44/">Snag a black controller and play &amp; charge kit for $44 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 15:00:00 EST. We had to suffer intolerable waits in line, high prices, and a lack of free bonuses. (Okay, so we got "Talladega Nights.") Either through a glitch, or an intentional deal on amazon.com's part, you can buy a 60GB PS3 system and get eight Blu-ray movies for about $475, free shipping included. How does one take part in such a spectacular deal?<br />

Then, you'll get a rebate form for five more Blu-ray movies. Even if you don't want to be part of a next-gen movie format war, this is still one of the cheapest ways we've seen to get a PS3 -- the free movies are a nice added bonus.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150319">CAG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/ps3-and-eight-blu-ray-movies-for-475/">PS3 and eight Blu-ray movies for $475</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Aug 2007 10:00:00 EST. Many modern PSP owners do not have homebrew-capable PSP systems. Therefore, when an exploit was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/23/lumines-unlocks-homebrew-on-firmware-3-50/">found in <em>Lumines</em></a> that defeats protection in 3.50 firmware, many leaped at an opportunity to purchase the beloved PSP music/puzzle game. Sales on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fmovers-and-shakers%2Fvideogames&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325">amazon.com</a> have jumped up a whopping 5,900% percent, making it the tenth best selling video game on the retailer's site. Until there's an alternative solution for those clamoring for homebrew on their systems, <em>Lumines</em> looks like it will be experiencing quite an incredible new revival in sales.<br /><br />[Thanks, ben!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/24/lumines-sales-up-nearly-6000-percent-since-exploit/">Lumines sales up nearly 6000 percent since exploit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Jun 2007 18:20:00 EST. Sure, some of those indie guys do it for the art, but they're not normally rolling in the big bucks. Now, Hollywood has a new way to boost an otherwise losing film into a winner.</p>
<p>Xbox Live's downloadable HD service is doing a stand-up job in delivering the goods. Movies like <a href="http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=poseidon.htm">Poseidon</a>, which failed to make back the $160 million budget in the US (apparently Hollywood doesn't count international ticket sales), are getting some great support from Live. The reasoning behind the support is the HD version.</p>
<p>Where other services like Amazon's Unbox not faring too well, Microsoft hit pay dirt with their HD downloads. When movies start pulling in profits on Xbox Live, Hollywood is certainly going to put more up on the service and possibly as soon as the regular versions hit the store shelves. With the confusion most consumers are having in the HD-DVD vs Blu-ray war, it would appear Xbox Live is going to be the big winner in the HD content war.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/02/xbox-live-makes-box-office-bombs-profitable/">Xbox Live makes box office bombs profitable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Jan 2007 17:25:00 EST. So, this morning you could buy a core system for only $100! The big news is that once the time came to purchase a 360 for such a low, low price at Amazon.com, customers came away empty handed as this deal ended within' seconds! Only 1,000 Xbox 360 Core systems were available for this offer, so it's not all that surprising that a sellout occured, but fanboys have been reporting that 2-3 seconds after the offer became available they couldn't complete an order because the deal was already sold out. If you were lucky enough to get a Xbox 360 Core system for $100 then you get a gold star for today buddy ... if not, at least you tried and didn't have to stand outside for 6+ hours in the cold only to be disappointed.<br /><br />[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/23/100-xbox-360-sold-out-in-seconds/">$100 Xbox 360 sold out in seconds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Nov 2006 21:00:00 EST. There's some stiff competition though, including perennial holiday favorites like the Mongoose bike ($30) and Barbie doll ($10). There's a catch too, if selected, the Xbox 360 bargain would be limited to 1,000 units.<br /><br />Let's assume the $100 Core is voted in and you secure a unit. Naturally, your end-goal is an Xbox 360 Premium System. So you'll need to invest in a hard drive ($100), wireless controller ($40), and HD cables ($40); bringing your total (including Core) to $280. That's still $120 less than the standard Premium bundle, plus you'll have an extra wired controller (and spare AV cables) -- it's also a better value than <a target="_blank" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/15/100-xbox-360-mail-in-rebate-from-micro-center/">Micro Center's current rebate</a> promotion.<br /><br /><a target="_blank" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/holiday/cv/homepage/104-3967637-4407141">Go vote</a>! The listing now states that any orders placed will not be shipped until the 29th of this month. Your best bet for getting your hands on it now are to either try other outlets online or hit up the brick-and-mortar retail spots in your town. We actually saw a few copies available at our local Target yesterday, if that helps...<br /><br /><em>Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney</em> was re-released on August 10th. The game follows a young defense attorney named Phoenix Wright and is published by Capcom. The game has been known to cure diseases both big and small, from <em>Sudden Exploding Clown Syndrome</em> to the dreaded <em>Boogie Fever</em>.<br /><br />[Thanks Robert and Kat!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/11/phoenix-wright-already-sold-out/">Phoenix Wright already sold out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Aug 2006 11:00:00 EST. The retro hits just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/10/sega-does-what-nintendont-on-your-psp/">keep on coming</a> today! This newly released trailer of the upcoming <em>Capcom Classics Reloaded</em> compliation shows off the game in action, and it gets a retro-loving gamer like myself pretty excited. Not only will it feature <em>Street Figher II</em>, and <em>Ghouls 'n Goblins</em>, it'll also come with <strong>game-sharing</strong> so that you and your friends can play using just one UMD. The compliation will feature more than 15 games, and will collect stats, and save things like cheats and music in galleries that you can easily access. Best of all, it has a nice budget price of $27 shipped on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FG65EY/prey0f?creative=327641&amp;camp=14573&amp;adid=0RV84K4XNHCNHWAX15X7&amp;link_code=as1">amazon.com</a>. The game comes out October 24th.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/10/capcom-classics-trailer-travels-through-time/">Capcom Classics trailer travels through time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Aug 2006 13:45:00 EST. <p>Though experienced PC
MMOG players and other hardcore gamers know that games of this type typically include monthly fees, Freeberg appears to
be more typical of console gamers. He expected to be able to buy the game, pop it in, and start playing. Instead, he was
required to spend hours installing the game and registering for a separate online service before he was told that the
game would cost $12.95 per month plus an additional $1.00 per month per character (beyond the first) he created.
</p>

Looks like gamers with a thirst for mental acuity are
thinking this game will be hard to acquire once it is released. The idea isn't that far-fetched considering the game
has sold 3.3 million copies to date in Japan. <em>Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day</em> releases on the
17th.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.infendo.com/2006/04/pre-orders-for-ds-brain-age-soar.html">Infendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/11/smarter-gamers-pre-ordering-brain-age/">Smarter gamers pre-ordering Brain Age?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Apr 2006 19:00:00 EST.
