The company crossed the finish line with €1.256 billion ($1.615 billion) in revenue and €64.8 million ($83.3 million) in profit, an 18.3 and 73.7-percent year-over-year increase, respectively, when compared to the €1.061 billion ($1.364 billion) in revenue and €37.3 million ($47.9 million) in profit recorded at the end of 2012.

Ubisoft contributes its stellar year to the continued success of its main three franchises, Assassin's Creed, Just Dance and Far Cry, the latest entries in which have all sold between six and 12 million copies.

Assassin's Creed 3 level design director Jamie Stowe recently joined Peter Molyneux's 22Cans studio. Stowe will assume the role of technical director for Godus, the developer's spiritual successor to Populous. Stowe worked at Codemasters as a QA lead and level designer prior to joining Ubisoft Singapore in 2009.

22Cans successfully raised £526,563 ($852K) on Kickstarter in December 2012 to fund Godus' development. Molyneux and his crew posted a new video update to 22Cans' Facebook page, which welcomes Stowe to the team.

As scheduled, the 'Redemption' DLC for Assassin's Creed 3 comes today to the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 - tomorrow for European PS3s - but Wii U owners must wait a bit longer to redeem it. The final part of the 'King Washington' trilogy reaches the Nintendo console on May 16.

Before you can stop the madness of King George, you'll have to cough up 640 MSP on Xbox 360, or $7.99 on PC and PS3. If you have the Season Pass then you've already paid for it, so you'd best get going to old New York - just don't forget the straitjacket.

May is focused on building up the story, making the characters and their relationships important to the player, while Bergeron and his colleagues aim to deliver fun mission gameplay, and stay within the various technical and developmental limitations shared by the entire team.

May and Bergeron both focus on research at the outset of the process. For each Assassin's Creed game, the team has picked an era first, and then looked for potential locations, specific events to portray, major characters, "potential Templar targets," and possible protagonists. While May picks characters, Bergeron's team brainstorms various mission ideas for the game.

May said Ubisoft has an internal document containing "101 gameplay ideas." It has been pillaged and refilled since the first Assassin's Creed game, as designers sample previously unused ideas or add more when concepts don't make the cut during development of the latest game.

Finally, May said, once all the mission plans are completed and his early script scenes are done, he takes the mission design documents and pastes them directly into a file that eventually becomes his finished script for the game. May said this process was "the ultimate expression of our collaboration," and that mission designs created by Bergeron's team are then used as "the skeleton and the backbone that I work off of."

Once the script and designs are all completed, the real work of coding and testing the game begins. May and Bergeron's teams cycle down (or, most likely, move on to the next game in the process).

The talk was a simple look at an undoubtedly complex process, but it did offer some good insight into the marriage of story and mission design in the Assassin's Creed franchise.

If legitimate, it'll be a bundle that includes all of the DLC launched so far, along with the game itself, due out on March 28 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The Washington Edition comes with the Hidden Secrets, Battle Hardened and Tyranny of George Washington packs. Hidden Secrets has three extra missions, two costumes for solo play and two characters for multiplayer, while Battle Hardened has three new maps and three fresh multiplayer characters. The Tyranny of George Washington pack comes in three single-player installments, the first of which is out now, and explores an alternate reality where Washington is a power-hungry dictator.

The German listings put Assassin's Creed 3: Washington Edition out in Europe on March 28 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, for €70 for consoles and €55 for PC. Though the complete Tyranny DLC won't be out by March 28, the Assassin's Creed Season Pass unlocks those installments as they drop.

Ubisoft had no comment regarding a potential US launch for the Washington Edition. Previously, the Assassin's Creed Anthology launched in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and skipped North America.

The three-part story begins with "The Infamy," as an alternate history unfolds with George Washington's head getting bloated and heavy as he wears the crown of the Americas. Infamy can be purchased on its own for $10 (800 MSP) or in the Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass bundle for $30. The content will also be available on Wii U at some point in our current timeline.

Which is to say, pretty good.

Sales for the period totaled €802 million ($1.07 billion), which is a 23 percent increase over the €652 million reported for the same quarter last year. Ubisoft's nine month year-to-date figures are also outperforming last year's: €1.08 billion ($1.45 billion) versus €900 million by this time last year, an increase of 21 percent.

Ubisoft attributes a large amount of this income with Assassin's Creed 3's 12 million shipped units and Far Cry 3's critical success, in addition to a 143 percent year-over-year increase in digital sales, totaling €55.2 million ($74.3 million).

Applying that to shipment figures of 12 million, that translates into 8.4 million units sold. Ubisoft also noted that 1 million of the 4.5 million Far Cry 3 copies which shipped were for PC.

Ubisoft revealed Assassin's Creed 3 shipments and digital sales combined are now over the 12 million mark, while Far Cry 3 has shipped and digitally distributed 4.5 million copies of its own. The Assassin's Creed 3 figure represents a near-70 percent increase on the corresponding amount for the series' previous game, Revelations.

In December, Ubisoft announced it had sold 7 million copies of Assassin's Creed 3, making it the fastest-selling game in the company's history. This new figure is for shipments, but it still indicates the game continues to do impressively at retail.

The first series, available at retailers sometime this summer, will include Conner (in both traditional assassin and Ratonhnhaké:ton flavors) and Haytham Kenyway, among others. Figures are six inches tall, give or take, and feature an average of 25 points of articulation. No word yet on when subsequent series will be released or what other characters will be part of this initial run. Personally, we're hoping for a moose.

While Assassin's Creed 3 season pass holders have to wait two weeks for the first episode of The Tyranny of King Washington to drop on February 19, Ubisoft has finally announced the launch dates for the follow-ups. The second episode, titled The Betrayal, and third episode, called The Redemption, will be available for download on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC on March 19 and April 23, respectively.

Each of these DLC episodes are priced at $10 each (800 MS Points) and included in the season pass price of $30. Above, you can check out a trailer for the first episode in this planned trilogy, The Infamy. After, feel free to check out some new screenshots in our gallery below; or don't. We'd never tell you what to do because we're not King Washington.

Update: Ubisoft UK tells us the Battle Hardened pack is coming to PSN there on January 9, and to Windows PC on January 15. It'll cost £7.99 on PC and PS3, twice as much as the previous DLC, meaning the US price should be $9.99. Since the PlayStation Store updates on Wednesdays in Europe and on Tuesdays in North America, that indicates the DLC should be available on NA's PSN later today.

Ubisoft also released some big old stats for the Colonial adventure, revealing 3 billion assassinations have been committed in the game since launch. That suggests an average assassination-per-player count of around 429, which even by video game standards is an awful lot of murder.

Hidden Secrets, Battle Hardened, and the King Washington trio appear to make up the five packs announced as coming to Assassin's Creed 3. All five are unlocked via the game's Season Pass, available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 2400 MSP and PSN for $29.99.

Now's the time to feel better about yourself, because the Uplay app is now available for download through the Nintendo eShop.

If you've signed into Uplay with your info through any Ubisoft game on Wii U, the app will automatically detect your information. Through the Uplay app you can view your achievements, spend your Uplay bux on content for various Ubisoft games and perhaps ponder why you put so much stock in imaginary economies.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Anthology for PS3 and Xbox 360 will launch in the UK tomorrow, bundling all the stabby series' games in one package. Ubi used fancy PR speak like "exclusive for now" to the EMEA territory to describe Anthology, so a stateside release isn't off the table. Anthology is priced at £119.99 in the UK (€150.00 on mainland Europe) and is exclusive to Amazon.

After dealing with various aspects of AC3, the survey queries expectations of a future Assassin's Creed game on Xbox 360 or PS3, asking respondents to rate potential features as either must-have, nice to have, or not interested. The features include co-op story missions, assassin creation and customization, underwater gameplay, a new present-day hero, and something that sounds a lot like SmartGlass functionality.

Next, the survey asks about expectations of Assassin's Creed 3 DLC. It first presents a description of one of the game's future DLCs, one that matches the press release for the upcoming "The Tyranny of King Washington" DLC. According to the survey, the King Washington DLC is split into three parts, each around two hours in length. The survey first asks about general interest in the DLC before gauging a potential price of £18 (around $29), at £6 ($9.60) per part. Before closing, the survey also asks about interest in an Assassin's Creed game released in 2013.

GMI Surveys uploaded an Assassin's Creed Brotherhood survey two years ago. Similar to that instance, it's unclear if Ubisoft officially commissioned this AC3 survey, or how much it will affect inclusions in the next Assassin's Creed. After all, the 2010 survey popped many of the same questions, like the addition of co-op, and a new assassin in a new time period. While the second one came true in AC3, it's hard to imagine how it wouldn't have.

A planned Xbox 360 and PS3 patch rivaling the game's hefty day-one patch will address both multiplayer and single-player issues - that includes a problem on the Fort Wolcott map where players would become stuck in the warm-up screen. Targeting a player with throwing knives will prevent them from contesting kills, which should cut down on cheap escapes.

On the single-player side, just about every campaign mission will see an update. Missing NPCs, objects and audio will be returned, and several mission-breaking bugs will be squashed, including a few that would get you stuck in an infinite loop of respawn and death.

The descriptions on many of these fixes stray into spoiler territory, so read up on the full list past the break below at your own risk.

Over 1.2 million individuals have pre-ordered Wii U games at GameStop, in addition to the 500,000 Wii U consoles claimed since opening up pre-orders back in September.

That figure comes out to 2.4 games per console reserved, which GameStop has told Gamasutra is roughly twice the attach rate GameStop saw prior to the Wii launch. Top pre-orders include ZombiU, Assassin's Creed 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Scribblenauts Unlimited and New Super Mario Bros. U.

The Wii U officially launches in North America on Sunday, November 18. On launch day, 23 different games will be available; a total of 50 games will be available within the Wii U launch window, which runs up to March 2013.

Halo 4 grabbed the top spot on the UK charts, but it did so showing the hesitancy everyone had about the franchise's new custodian. According to Chart-Track, Halo 4, the first installment by Microsoft's 343 Industries, was the 18th biggest launch in terms of first week sales. Halo 3 and Halo: Reach launched as 15 and 12, respectively. Allow us to be clear, though, the concern that Halo 4 is some inferior product is unwarranted.

The prior week's numero uno, Assassin's Creed 3, slipped one spot into second. FIFA 13 is required by law to remain in the top five for its first six months following launch in the UK, so it can be found in third.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 launches tomorrow. If there's some place you can bet on UK game sales for the following week, we can assure you Black Ops 2 is about as solid as a bet ever gets. The UK top ten can be found after the break.

Reached for comment, Ubisoft told us Anthology isn't currently confirmed for the US, and is only slated as an "EMEA" release, meaning it's only currently releasing in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We should mention Ubisoft did use hedging language like "exclusive for now" and "isn't currently confirmed for US release" in our follow-up.

The collection contains Assassin's Creed 1, 2, and 3, Brotherhood, and Revelations, along with all of those games' expansion packs and other DLC. Ubisoft confirmed that includes Assassin's Creed 3's Season Pass. Also bundled in are five lithographs, one for each game, and an exclusive steel book, all in a chunky-looking collector's box.

Anthology is priced at £119.99 in the UK, and €150.00 in Europe. It's exclusive to Amazon in the UK, and is being released there November 30. Based on listings on Amazon Germany and Amazon France (now taken down), it's coming to the rest of Europe November 29.
