The "choice" between a free digital copy of <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> or <em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em> that new <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a> owners will receive as part of an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/19/new-psp-go-owners-to-receive-a-free-copy-of-littlebigplanet-or-a/">ongoing promotion</a> is based on their ages. That's the key detail Joystiq confirmed after following up with Sony, which said, "The game sent to consumers is determined by age, once the user creates/logs into their PlayStation Network account." (Check out Sony's full statement after the break.)<br />
<br />
This means that if your PSN account indicates you as age 17 or older, you'll receive <em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em> -- whether you like it or not. Similarly, minors will be automatically booked for a trip to <em>LittleBigPlanet</em>. We'd say that consumers should cry foul for being robbed of a true choice, but new owners of the UMD-less PSP should probably get used to that feeling anyway.<br />

This should make the PSP Go's price tag a bit easier to swallow. From now until March 21, new North American PSP Go owners that add a PlayStation Network to their systems will be eligible to receive a free game from the PlayStation Store: either <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-bloodlines"><em>Assassin's Creed Bloodlines</em></a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet-psp"><em>LittleBigPlanet PSP</em></a>. After the registration process, SCEA will e-mail a special code that enables the free download.<br />
<br />
The promotion is similar to one launched by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/psp-go-upgrade-incentive-rewards-3-free-games-to-umd-owners/">Sony Europe</a> a few months ago. Unsurprisingly, early adopters are feeling left in the cold. DevilDawg90 commented on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/02/pspgo-in-game-promotion-code-available-now/">PlayStation.Blog</a>: "This is unfair to people like me who picked up the PSPGo day one. I had to pay 40 for LBP PSP! I have been supporting Sony and this is just a slap in face."<br />
<br />
Unfortunately DevilDawg, that's generally how technology works; it gets cheaper over time. In fact, the PSP Go is approaching affordable when considering the <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/go-save-40-on-the-psp-go-at-amazon-com/">$50 discount</a> Amazon.com is offering on it. At $200 with a free game, it's almost -- dare we say it? -- a <em>good</em> deal.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/19/new-psp-go-owners-to-receive-a-free-copy-of-littlebigplanet-or-a/">New PSP Go owners to receive a free copy of LittleBigPlanet or Assassin's Creed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Feb 2010 18:30:00 EST. Alright, Europe. We're not sure what you did to get into Sony's good graces, but we wish you'd share that information with your pals in the States. Not only do you guys have access to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/psp-go-upgrade-incentive-rewards-3-free-games-to-umd-owners/">PSP Go incentive program</a>, which grants owners of UMDs three free game downloads through March 31, but Sony Europe just went ahead and threw another complimentary game on the pile. Anyone living in Europe who owns a PSP Go is <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/11/30/get-a-free-game-with-pspgo-happy-holidays/">eligible to receive a free copy</a> of <em>Gran Turismo</em>, <em>MotorStorm: Arctic Edge</em> or <em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em> (or, in Germany, <em>LittleBigPlanet</em>) until January 10.<br /> <br /> For more details on the promotion, visit <a href="http://uk.playstation.com/pspgopromotion/">Sony Europe's official site</a>. We've contacted Sony America to find out if we'll be getting a similar offer stateside.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/europe-gets-more-incentive-to-purchase-a-psp-go-with-new-bundle/">Europe gets more incentive to purchase PSP Go with new bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 12:30:00 EST. "Yes, there was an issue with the original download," a Sony Europe spokesperson has told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/sony-rectifying-bloodlines-psn-blunder">Eurogamer</a>. Said issue, which rendered PAL digital copies of <em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/20/users-report-faulty-digital-copies-of-assassins-creed-bloodli/">dead on arrival</a>, was rectified by replacing the PSP file on the European PlayStation store -- though this came at a cost to those who had already been greeted by the defective copy's never-ending loading screen. According to the spokesperson, "It was pulled from the store and we are issuing replacement codes for those people who purchased the content before 12PM GMT on November 20." <br /> <br /> Developed by Griptonite Games, <em>Bloodlines</em> follows the protagonist of 2007's <em>Assassin's Creed</em>, complete with 3D free-running and an Altair native control scheme.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/24/sony-replaces-faulty-assassins-creed-bloodlines-download/">Sony replaces faulty Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines download</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Nov 2009 17:00:00 EST. Some of those eager to immerse themselves in Altair's portable crusade in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-bloodlines"><em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em></a> have allegedly been denied entry into the Animus. This has, in turn, led to animosity being expressed on Sony's message boards and our tips line. According to complaints, the downloadable version (the game is also available on UMD) freezes during its initial loading screen, regardless of PSP model. <br /><br />Based on user comments, the hobbled file originated from the European PlayStation Store and has since been bumped off -- to be replaced with a working version soon, hopefully. We'll keep an eye on things (and your comments below) while we await a response from Ubisoft.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/24/sony-replaces-faulty-assassins-creed-bloodlines-download/">has replaced the faulty download</a> and offered replacement codes to those affected.<br /><br /><a href="http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=139&amp;thread.id=12225&amp;view=by_date_ascending&amp;page=4">Source</a> -- Official PlayStation Forums<br /><a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/11/19/%E2%80%98heads-up%E2%80%99-playstation-store-update-19th-november-2009/comment-page-7/#comments">Source</a> -- EU PlayStation Blog comments<br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5P3AfnxiWM">Source</a> -- Youtube video [Thanks, Gian]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/20/users-report-faulty-digital-copies-of-assassins-creed-bloodli/">Users report faulty digital copies of Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Nov 2009 14:30:00 EST. Ubisoft hasn't done much to promote the upcoming PSP exclusive, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/impressions-assassins-creed-bloodlines/"><em>Bloodlines</em></a>, but this new trailer -- released a few days before the game hits store shelves -- is <em>something</em> ... right?<br />
<br />
In addition to showcasing the game's crisp look, the trailer emphasizes connectivity between <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Assassins-Creed-2/"><em>Assassin's Creed II</em></a> on PS3 and<em> Bloodlines</em> on PSP -- both due out next week -- without actually going into detail. Thankfully, we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/16/assassins-creed-bloodlines-ps3-connectivity-new-gameplay-deta/">already found out</a> about some of those features.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/13/reminder-assassins-creed-too-on-psp-next-week/">Reminder: Assassin's Creed, too, on PSP next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Nov 2009 14:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Of all the upcoming titles on display at last night's PSP showcase in San Francisco, we were most eager to check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-bloodlines"><em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em></a>. After seeing the video from the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/09/first-look-assassins-creed-bloodlines-for-psp/">PlayStation Blog</a>, we just had to confirm that it really looked that amazing in person - and it does. Although our demo was hands-off, it was running on PSP Go hardware and was just about the most impressive thing we've seen on Sony's portable.<br /><br />It looked great, locked in at a nice, smooth 30 frames per second and featured superb character models, textures and lighting. It also seemed to play really well, which, at the end of the day, is what we all know really matters.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/">Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299661"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_12_punchinggut_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299660"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_10_throwfromledge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299659"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_11_bulldodge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299658"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_09_sneakingonbeam_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2146959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/3725962754_4d4abf52b3_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

Aside from showing off a mess of impressive gameplay from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-bloodlines"><em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em></a>, a recent <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/09/first-look-assassins-creed-bloodlines-for-psp/">PlayStation.Blog</a> interview with <em>Bloodlines</em> producer Dominic Lefran&ccedil;ois and senior producer Dan McAuliffe revealed some interesting facts about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/assassins-creed-2-unlockables-tied-to-psp-version/">interactivity between the PSP game and its PS3 sibling</a>. <br /> <br /> A handful of moves have transferred over from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed 2</em></a>, though Lefran&ccedil;ois would only mention the ledge grab you see above. Additionally, "Templar coins" and weapons earned through assassinations in <em>Bloodlines</em> will transfer to <em>AC2</em>, while health from the codecs in <em>AC2</em> will transfer to <em>Bloodlines</em>. It certainly sounds like a great incentive to purchase both games on both pla -- hey! We're on to you, Ubisoft!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/">Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299661"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_12_punchinggut_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299660"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_10_throwfromledge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299659"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_11_bulldodge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299658"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_09_sneakingonbeam_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2146959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/3725962754_4d4abf52b3_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/16/assassins-creed-bloodlines-ps3-connectivity-new-gameplay-deta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines' PS3 connectivity, new gameplay detailed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/16/assassins-creed-bloodlines-ps3-connectivity-new-gameplay-deta/">Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines' PS3 connectivity, new gameplay detailed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Sep 2009 15:50:00 EST. We kinda lied to you in that headline -- how do you feel about just <em>one</em> still from the three, upcoming live-action <em>Assasin's Creed </em>short films? The <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2009/07/video-game-publishers-microsoft-ubisoft-invading-hollywoods-turf.html">LA Times</a> got a shot from the in-production <em>Assassin's Creed II: Lineage</em> just before some of the developers working on <em>AC2</em> (the game) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/ubisoft-holding-assassins-creed-2-panel-at-comic-con/">sat down for a panel</a> at this week's San Diego Comic-Con.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft said in the past that the upcoming PSP <em>Assassin's Creed</em> iteration, titled <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/assassins-creed-bloodlines-is-the-only-game-that-connects-ac/"><em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em></a>, would be the only "game" to tie together the story from the first one to its sequel. Clearly those words were chosen carefully, as these <em>films</em> are intended to "focus on the story of Ezio's father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze" and delve into the history of "the <em>Assassin's Creed 2</em> storyline and characters" when they release this winter.<br />
<br />
Us? We're just hoping someone will explain all that <em>crazy</em> <em>writing</em> on the walls from the first game.<br />

Ubisoft has finally <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/07/16/new-limited-edition-assassin%E2%80%99s-creed-bloodlines-psp-entertainment-pack/">revealed</a> the first official trailer for the upcoming <em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</em>, and it continues the trend of stunning omg-is-that-possible quality we've seen from PSP games as of late. According to Frederic Lefroncois, producer of <em>Bloodlines</em>, the game takes place "right after the events of <em>Assassin's Creed</em> as he hunts down the ascending Templars in Cyprus." He then emphasizes that "it's the only game that explains the link between <em>Assassin's Creed</em> and <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/AssassinsCreed2/">Assassin's Creed 2</a>. If you want to understand how Ezio is born and where the Codex comes from, you need this game."<br /><br />Unlike other handheld iterations of <em>Assassin's Creed</em>, <em>Bloodlines</em> will recreate the "core gameplay" of the original console game, including free-running and combat. Once again, Altair will have to do missions before completing an assassination -- however, expect a bit more variety this time around. "There are 8 new mission types," Lefroncois explains, "and we wanted each mission to feel as fresh and exciting as the final Assassination moment."<br /><br /><em>Bloodlines</em> will be available later this year, and can be purchased as part of a bundle, which includes a white PSP-3000 system, the game, and a Memory Stick for $200. See the trailer after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/">Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299661"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_12_punchinggut_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299660"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_10_throwfromledge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299659"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_11_bulldodge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2299658"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ac_psp_s_09_sneakingonbeam_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-bloodlines/#2146959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/3725962754_4d4abf52b3_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/assassins-creed-bloodlines-is-the-only-game-that-connects-ac/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is 'the only game' that connects AC1 to AC2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/assassins-creed-bloodlines-is-the-only-game-that-connects-ac/">Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is 'the only game' that connects AC1 to AC2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 12:50:00 EST.
